Perfect Finish achieved

    To my surprise everything I thought I knew about making a great finish was wrong. It is all so counter intuitive.

    The fastest jerk the printer can supply without skipping steps gives the best results. I started using slower acceleration gradually increasing jerk settings until I had problems. I found that the extruder jerk must be faster than the X,Y jerk. Having established jerk I began bringing up acceleration. I did find a corner where increased acceleration produced declining results.

    With these settings you have to examine carefully to see even the slightest ringing. There is no overshooting, stringing, blobbing or artifacts.

    On the eeprom configuration change .txt to .cfg and do an eeprom restore in octoprint. To supply the ultimaker cura configuration I used a simple washer and you can import the configuration, I am using version 5.10.1. The test part STL is a fairly difficult part to print and now comes out beautifully.

    I had upgraded my printer to a dual gear extruder and all of the steppers are 48mm 0.9 degree. You may have to step back from the speeds I am using. My system board failed as all of my Robo R2 boards failed with the dreaded start/stop during filament load. To my surprise this is not an electrical failure but something that can not be reset in the RAM? I found that if I just changed my extruder steps to double, the unit prints fine. My printer now uses 25T rather than20T gears, so I went down to 256 steps from the original 320 steps. Be sure to keep all of your original steps/unit in the eeprom.

    I would love to hear from anyone that try's this out. Be sure to backup your configuration in Octoprint first. I used GSTD/Freemover PLA.
