The broken printer is fixed, I see that in the short months of me owning one they changed some stuff. New couplers, limit switch is on carriage, stabilizer are built into case, AND THE RIBBON CABLE!!

I love the ribbon cable so much for the heated bed, swapped it as soon as I saw it.

Marquis, I like the ribbon cable mod on the headed bed. Did you use special cable to handle the current required?

    ME TOO!

but It's not a mod, this is just from the factory.

I'll be making a video on how to convert any heated bed to a ribbon cable with old IDE data cables soon.

To handle the load they run 3 wires for each side of the heater

Thanks, I thought it might have been something as simple as that.
I look forward to to the video. Would be good if you could also include some shots on how the factory version secures the ends

Any chance for a suggestion on a PSU with a quieter fan on it? or maybe just get an external unit?

Just buy a 30A 12v power supply off amazon. Or replace the fan with a 60mm x 10mm

They have a 80mm Arctic Alpine fan on Amazon that they claim you can't hear (22db). It's about $10. Frank

@Marquis Johnson hey, I watched your videos and they are what made me decide on the Robo R1. Best printer ever!

yeah you can do it. It is a 60mm fan if i remember correctly. i personally bought a pc psu, it is way quieter and a little bit more powerfull.

If you whant to dismount the psu just make sure that the capasitors are empty. then just dismount the fan, cut the wires and do the reverse with your new fan

Using an ATX power supply, while it might be quieter does not always mean more power. Let's say you buy a 30w 12v supply from Amazon and spend $30, you now have 360w of power on the 12v rails. Now you buy a 600w ATX supply from Newegg for about $50. You would think that 600w is truly more power than 360w , and for a PC it is. But for us it may not be.

A typical ATX power supply needs to split its power into separate 3.3v, 5v and 12v rails. For 600w you will usually see something from about 30A - 32A on the 12v rails. So other than quiet, you spent more money and have the issue that the power supply no longer fits underneath the case. If you spend even more money, you might be able to buy a Gold or Platinum certified ATX power supply and get a few more amperes out of the 12v rails (but usually not).
