I am working on Hypercube version of the R2 using an Arduino Board. It is pretty much complete and I just have to clean up the documentation on the Forum. I had to isolate the GND on the thermister and am using the two thermister hots on the downtown board to connect to my Arduino board. Using the common GND was not a good idea and it degrades the temp regulation. Partsbuilt.com is going to make a downtown board with a jumper on it to allow the isolation of the GND and use the two hots.

It is the code I am using. No other code I tried worked on every function. The PID tuning was a problem until I used this code.

I'm pretty sure I'm having the same problem with my R2 motherboard. Would I be able to replace it with something that would let me to control the R2 through Simplify3D like I can with my R1+?

Well, you could, but OctoPrint is so much better than using a slicer.

Just unplug the Raspberry Pi from the controller board and connect directly to the PC. Works exactly like the R1/R1+ then.

You can use the same electronics as the R1/R1+ too (arduino/RAMPS) and there is a thread on here for that too.

@Lance Weston has done this as well.

You print with OctoPrint by opening a browser on the printers IP address. There are a lot of more detailed instructions for octoPrint if you need. You just need a web browser to access it.

Or I can find the script you use from simplify3d. It was posted in their forum.

I use octoprint for the R2 already, and unless I'm missing something it doesn't offer near the functionality of simplify3d.

The two can work in tandem since S3D can automatically feed prints to OctoPrint over the network.
They are different tools -- one is a slicer/host program and the other is JUST a host program embedded into the printer controller (the Raspberry Pi)

It is not an EITHER/OR situation ;)
