Replacement borosilicate sheets

    For those of you getting the Y-axis upgrade it might be in your mind to get a spare glass sheet for if you want to swap beds between prints.

    The problem is it's hard to source 254mm x 385mm glass.

    I found a supplier that quote me $31/sheet for a couple. If there's enough interest we might be able to get this down some. If you want to order on your own they have a $50 minimum per order.

    You'll need to source your own heater and magnets. Since I upgrade my bed to 24v I'm going to use this heater to maximize my build volume: http://www.ultibots.com/24v-kapton-heater-200mm-x-250mm/ it won't work effectively on 12v though.

    They do sell a low cost 24v supply http://www.ultibots.com/24v-400w-power-supply-s-400-24/ and 24v-12v converter: http://www.ultibots.com/24v-12v-converter/ if you want to go that route.

    How thick are these?
    The original Robo glass is on the thin side.
    They mentioned the new glass beds should be thicker, but didn't specify.

    Glad I came here in time (thanks to Matt from PrintedSolid for pointing me here!)
    I just ended up chipping my glass by printing T-Glase on it (the object came off with pieces of glass when it cooled down), so I'm in the need of the replacement. I would probably order 2 pieces just in case or for potentially working on the new Y-axis upgrade.

    BTW, will RoBo3D guys be selling parts at some point in the future?

    They don't want to appear as a hobby shop, so no. I suggested they look into it once they have more time to explore other business ventures. Even makerbot sells spare parts.


    I'm at a total of 5 (me 2, leon 1, and denys 2). Hopfully this brings the price down nicely.

    If no one else chimes in by tomorrow I'll request a new quote for that qty.

    I do. It looks like it'll be around 20-30 for shipping at 28/sheet for 7. I meant to place the order on Friday but it will have to be Monday or Tuesday. I'm think $30/sheet plus shipping is a reasonable price to ask back.
