My printing stopped due to a knot that was on the filament spool, but the printer kept running without extruding the PLA.

My question is: Is it possible, after unclog the hot end, restart the print from the breakpoint?

Sorry, I'm new in this world :)

    Thanks!

    In a word? No.

However there are a number of ways you could get close to that, but they are all a bit of work so generally I just say -- start over. Easier and more certain :) I'll let an R2 owner comment on the process with the R2 (some slicer software tricks can also help, but I don't use the default software either)

I dont do it, i just restart the print. Sometimes you can measure the part and cut that much off the model and print thw rest but im never happy with the results

@Geof @mark I'm shocked! Really? You guys don't try to resume prints like that? For me, it's a tossup depending on how long the print has been running. When you do try to resume, it's not a guarantee of success, but it's often worth trying if I'm on a deadline or just don't want to loose a lot of spent material.

I've got some notes on my process here. https://printedsolid.com/blogs/news/printrecovery

My time is worth more than the filament :) Usually.

I tend to do it if it's a long print, more than 5 hours or so.
Last one was one where I knew the spool would run out and was expecting the runout sensor to stop letting me resume when I would come back an hour or so later - BUT the end of the filament stayed stuck on the spool so that it never pulled out of the sensor.
