I have been printing small lithophanes and have some stringing that adversely effects the finish piece. I am printing with pla at 210C.

so I figure I am having problems with retraction.
I am using mattercontrol, Looking at the settings wondering what I need to change at in what increments.

I has hoping for some advice from more experienced forum members.
here are my current default settings:

    length on move 3 mm
    speed 30 mm/s
    z lift .5
    min travel requiring retraction 20m
    min extrusion requiring retraction 0mm

With PLA if you print at the lowest possible temperature you can and still retain intra-layer bonding you will minimize stringing to some extent. Most filaments, except PETG, that have a tendency to string, do so at higher extrude temps. For some reason PETG acts the opposite way.

I don't use MC but retraction should be 3 mm or less and it looks like you are already set at 3 mm.

just try a few small prints and lower temp each time by 5° C that will show you the optimum for your particular Robo/Hotend combo.

    0.1 mm at a time
