Unresolved Robo3D Not Moving Motors

    Hi All

    When I try to print with my Robo3D using either MatterControl, Cura or Repetier, the job seems like it's going through, but nothing is happening on the printer's end. It just stays still. Earlier, it was giving a MINTEMP reached error, which I was able to alleviate with a firmware flash. At least it appears that way.

    I've tried any kind of troubleshooting i can think of, including checking the voltage of the Arduino board to make sure it's getting power.

    It can also be noted that I cannot move the motors manually through Repetier either. But it will move them enough to go back to home.

    Any ideas?

    If your extruder thermistor is reporting 0 you won't be able to use manual controls. Be sure your thermistor line is plugged in and use a multimeter to trace the resistance if you can't find something unplugged

    The thermistor is reporting 220 degrees when I tell it to heat the extruder. Motors still not moving

    And you've told it to autohome all?

    Open terminal, does it show errors?

    I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "Terminal" Which software is it in?

    all of the host softwares have a terminal where you can manually input G code. I recommend scanning the RepRap wiki page for G Code just to get a sense of it all.

    For whatever software you are using (Mattercontrol, cura, repetier, ...) just google "[software name] terminal". I'm sure something useful will come up.

    Ok. I tried a print in MatterControl. I got "Error: Extruder Switched off. Temperature fell too much during print!" So there is definitely an issue here...

    What temp? Usually that's a loose thermistor. Check all your connections

    220. My thermistor is reading 30 degrees hotter than it should. What port should the thermistor be in? Could it be a wiring issue cause right now my thermistor is constantly reading 200 degrees and only started cooling when i canceled the error-ridden print

    Can also check the resistance across the thermistor.

    Make sure your thermistor is snug inside the hot end as well.

    How would I check the resistance?

    A digital multimeter would do the trick. Can get them pretty cheap and are a nice tool to have.

    I have one already... just not sure how to use it for that particular purpose..

    I man the specific points to put my meter on the Robo3D. I have a basic knowledge of how to use the multimeter... also where on the board should my thermistor be plugged in?

    Ok. I got 136.0 Kilo ohms on the heatbed,

    Thermistor say 0.L (which I assume is something like overload)

    The thermistor is cemented into the hot end, I am using an E3D hot end by the way...

    Means infinite. Does the hot end heat up at all?

    Marquis came up with a neat trick of changing the min temp in the firmware to "-50" so he could mess with the wiring of the thermistor while the printer was on and just watch the temp display on his monitor.
