    Good Morning,
I am currently running MatterControl on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and I cannot figure out how to make it print support structures. I check the box for supports in Matter Control and it fails to generate the support structures no matter what I try. Any print I do that requires support fails spectacularly while prints that dont require supports come out flawless.

    Any ideas?

Someone who uses MC can chime in with any other hints.

Thanks - will test this in a bit, I do not recall resliceing the file.

I do want to eventually upgrade to Simplify3D in the near future but want to get my sea legs first.

I know there have been a few folks who posted at various points about tweaks to settings they used to improve the support generation with MC so hopefully one of them will see this and add some pointers.

I bought s3d before the sea legs and wish i would have done it sooner. Matter control was 90% of my issues when i started out.

Sorry i cant help with your initial issue other than possible look for for the minimum overhang degree before supports auto generate in matter control.

If you continue to get into 3D printing and start creating/printing more complex models you will find that it will grow with you.
As you need more complicated configurations, it will do them.
Best money I spent after the printer. I wasted a lot of time at the end fighting slicers.

I ultimately justified the expense due to all of the plastic I wasted over the past week due to Matter Control randomly crashing 2-5 hours into a 7 hour print. Although this is only a few dollars worth of PLA, it will add up over time. On top of that, I cannot for the life of me get it to print support structures properly.
