The best value filament I've used is Hatchbox PLA from Amazon. Normally about $22 a kilogram.

If you have a microcenter local, inland pla is very good and is only 14.99 a kg.

The only requirement to verify is that it's 1.75mm diameter.

Only one I haven't tried from there is the flexible filament. I have it, but have not tried printing with it.

I've had good luck with hatchbox, foxsmart, inland...pretty much everything. But I have much better results with "good" filament vs "cheapest" option.

There are a lot of really cheap filaments out there that are basically nightmares of tangled filament or just flat-out useless filament (JustPLA used to be particularly bad about having tangles in their rolls, for example).

Look at the reviews on Amazon for a general guide of what would be a good filament to try.

At or around $20 a K for PLA is cheap enough to experiment with different brands. Like Daniel just said, just read the reviews and try one or two to see what works for you. Moisture is not a friend to filament either. So if you live in a humid area you need to take care to try and store your filament in a dry container with desiccant. A roll can be great new, but 3 mo down the road can give you worse results because of moisture. Just something to keep in mind.

Im not saying they wont work, but its a toss up. There are factors like tolerance on the OD through the spools, raw materials (which impact if youll have consistent temos and print quality)

The ones i named off above are as cheap as i go unless i feel ballsy. Ive even had issues with them but they will replace spools if you send photos of the defect. I buy alot through amazon as you cant get screwed. If my finiah uality is the most important factor i buy colorfabb or colorfilla from @Printed Solid as i know what im getting with every spool, its very consistant. Everyday stuff i use the above vendor.

I am having great results with Hatchbox from Amazon.
Each time the wife drops an order on Amazon I have her pick out a new color or material. I'm up to 11 rolls on standby!!!!!

The only "bad" filament I've encountered so far was the small sample roll that came with the machine. It printed ok, but was very Brittle.

There may be "cheaper" filaments but Amazon is very handy with fast shipping.
