I created a part (metric) in Inventor... a simple cube 25mm^3... exported to a .stl file. Opened .stl in Repetier. I noticed the part was a lot smaller than originally made. I increased the scale (x5) and printed. When it printed it was about half the size i wanted it (about 12mm^3).

Is there a measuring tape inside Repetier?or do I trail and error print until I fully understand my printer software?

This may be a problem with Inventor. I am not sure if there is an option to save it geometrically or something. You could also try Cura instead of Repetier and see what happens.
