Apr 3, 2015 12:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: do you owe or are you getting a refund?
    Apr 3, 2015 12:35 PM - Mike Glass: I have 3 kids so REFUND
Apr 3, 2015 12:36 PM - JeffTheMess: you like my new lights lol
    Apr 3, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: flashlight?
    Apr 3, 2015 12:39 PM - JeffTheMess: yup lol
Apr 3, 2015 12:41 PM - dbvanhorn: Sigh.. Haing a "now what..." day. First day with HIPS filament. I set the bed temp to 110 after some failed prints at 85 . Bed won't heat. I get right near 85, then the temp starts dropping (!) It's supposed to be heating.
    Apr 3, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EKPOG10/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I used 3 of these on mine.
    Apr 3, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: comes with 4
Apr 3, 2015 12:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: firmware limits the bed to 85
Apr 3, 2015 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: Yea and connectors wont handle it past 80 i believe
Apr 3, 2015 12:42 PM - dbvanhorn: That would have been good to know.. But it doesn't even stay at 85, it drops off.
    Apr 3, 2015 12:42 PM - dbvanhorn: Argh.
Apr 3, 2015 12:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: yah, the temp overshoots and it triggers a safety that kills the bed
Apr 3, 2015 12:43 PM - Stephen Capistron: as soon as the bed hits 85.000000001 it turns off so the practical limit with the stock firmware is like 82-83
Apr 3, 2015 12:44 PM - dbvanhorn: Well, that explains the mysery. So HIPS is a no-go?
Apr 3, 2015 12:44 PM - Stephen Capistron: if you have the ribbon cable people have reportedly been able to change the firmware to allow for higher temps while maintaining some safety
    Apr 3, 2015 12:44 PM - dbvanhorn: I have the ribbon cable
Apr 3, 2015 12:44 PM - Stephen Capistron: well as safe as a 3d printer can be
Apr 3, 2015 12:45 PM - Stephen Capistron: jump in the firmware and have at it then
Apr 3, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: lol yeah, would not trust it that hot
    Apr 3, 2015 12:45 PM - Stephen Capistron: i wouldn't really either
Apr 3, 2015 12:45 PM - dbvanhorn: Another project... :p Too many now. I think I need some more black PLA.
Apr 3, 2015 12:46 PM - Stephen Capistron: an enclosure might do the trick
Apr 3, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: why are you printing hips anyways?
Apr 3, 2015 12:46 PM - Stephen Capistron: Have you seen how much a replacement hip goes for. I'd print them all day if i could :p
    Apr 3, 2015 12:47 PM - Mike Glass: I know right
Apr 3, 2015 12:47 PM - Mike Glass: my wifes got all the hips i need :)
Apr 3, 2015 12:48 PM - dbvanhorn: Mostly because I thought I had PLA, and it said HIPS when I got home.
Apr 3, 2015 12:49 PM - dbvanhorn: Online comments led me to believe it was similar.
Apr 3, 2015 12:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: it prints like ABS
    Apr 3, 2015 12:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: so i've heard anyways
Apr 3, 2015 12:50 PM - dbvanhorn: gcode window is screaming "temperature is reset" error message over and over.
Apr 3, 2015 12:51 PM - Mike Glass: restart MC

Apr 3, 2015 12:51 PM - Stephen Capistron: I'd power down and reboot
Apr 3, 2015 12:52 PM - dbvanhorn: shutting down mc got it
Apr 3, 2015 12:52 PM - Stephen Capistron: once you shut down matter control follow MKs guide and setup cura
Apr 3, 2015 12:53 PM - dbvanhorn: would PETG behave well on the robo?
Apr 3, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: yes we have a few users that really like it
    Apr 3, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: I've printed PETT
Apr 3, 2015 12:56 PM - dbvanhorn: Bed temp? Spool says 230-250 for extruder
    Apr 3, 2015 12:57 PM - Stephen Capistron: ? 50? what's the worst that happens
    Apr 3, 2015 12:58 PM - dbvanhorn: SC ?
Apr 3, 2015 12:59 PM - dbvanhorn: The failed prints on HIPS made a real mess. Lots of flat disc parts, all in a wad
Apr 3, 2015 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i think this is the most readable on either theme
Apr 3, 2015 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: I like the dark blue
    Apr 3, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/a/POGGp thoughts?
Apr 3, 2015 1:06 PM - Stephen Capistron: the gray text on the white background is a little tough
Apr 3, 2015 1:08 PM - Mike Glass: easy on the eyes at night for sure
Apr 3, 2015 1:08 PM - Stephen Capistron: so yeah, the dark background is a bit better
Apr 3, 2015 1:10 PM - dbvanhorn: :( I has teh sad. Hips filament is stuck in the extruder. PH is at 250, and I can't get the PETG to feed in.
Apr 3, 2015 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: take the 2 hob screws out and see if you can pull it out from there
Apr 3, 2015 1:13 PM - Mike Glass: if not, unscrew the nozzle off and pray.
Apr 3, 2015 1:14 PM - Stephen Capistron: push a short length of string trimmer line through?
Apr 3, 2015 1:14 PM - dbvanhorn: Feels like the HIPS filament parted midway. Feels blocked.
Apr 3, 2015 1:15 PM - dbvanhorn: Going to try gentle pressure.
Apr 3, 2015 1:18 PM - dbvanhorn: Got it. :) Changing spools seems a little risky. I've been preheating the head to print temp, then pulling out the filament.
Apr 3, 2015 1:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: my MO is to set the print head to heat to 250 and just maintain gentle pressure on the filament manually until it lets go
Apr 3, 2015 1:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: you really only need the boundary layer of the filament to melt
Apr 3, 2015 1:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: letting the whole tip melt can and probably does lead to a fair amount of filament being left behind as it is too liquid
Apr 3, 2015 1:22 PM - dbvanhorn: Ah.. I thought impatience was a BAD thing! But I see the reasoning.
Apr 3, 2015 1:23 PM - Stephen Capistron: once the print head hits like 170 i pull the hinge back on the Greg's wade with one hand and pull gently on the filament with the other
Apr 3, 2015 1:27 PM - dbvanhorn: Ok.. I will make a note of that. Off to store to pick up PLA. My settings are nicely dialled in for that.
Apr 3, 2015 1:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: I'm blown away that some of you have stores you can walk in and buy filament
Apr 3, 2015 1:30 PM - Stephen Capistron: I'm sure there are some just outside boston, but not my neighborhood. And I can guarantee that those near boston are probably a royal PIA to get to and park near
Apr 3, 2015 1:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: I'm going to keep PrintedSolid in business
Apr 3, 2015 1:33 PM - Stephen Capistron: Well it is beer o'clock for me
Apr 3, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: have fun
Apr 3, 2015 1:35 PM - Stephen Capistron: hard not to

    Apr 3, 2015 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: na
Apr 3, 2015 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: if i did anything with 3d scanning it'd be skanect
Apr 3, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Glass: thought that was just hardware?
Apr 3, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Glass: err software
Apr 3, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: it is software

Apr 3, 2015 2:06 PM - Mike Glass: I like it for a night theme
Apr 3, 2015 2:06 PM - Mike Kelly: but do you like the color of it
Apr 3, 2015 2:10 PM - Mike Glass: yea I think it is the same color as the above box that says home> Shoutbox

    Apr 3, 2015 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: .15 is a nice mix
    Apr 3, 2015 3:49 PM - Harry: i've had great results at shockingly... .17
Apr 3, 2015 3:49 PM - TechSupportGo: but thats ok, I wanted different layer heights for each piece for a little contrast using all black
Apr 3, 2015 3:50 PM - Mike Glass: well then that you will should be interesting

Apr 3, 2015 6:42 PM - jbigler1986: I know fry's has the split loom but would prefer something more flexible

Apr 3, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: No its the same thing as the robo, I like that stuff mike, we used that for home audio before.
Apr 3, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: actual it was the expandable. http://www.amazon.com/Techflex-Expa..._sim_op_7?ie=UTF8&refRID=15NDHR01XPNTKZHC8CXF
Apr 3, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: but I like the idea you dont have to take it all apart to put that on.
Apr 3, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the expandable kind is annoying to work with
Apr 3, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Glass: Is that what you have
    Apr 3, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 3, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: not the one i just linked
Apr 3, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Glass: oh you have the expandable? Guess it would be ok if your running new wires anyways but it is a pain getting the wires through.
Apr 3, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Glass: course the split is twice as much.
Apr 3, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Glass: wow, for the money im thinking this would be good for my cnc. http://www.amazon.com/Amico-Polyeth...d_sim_e_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=0M6984NMQWMVTM0ABJKX
Apr 3, 2015 8:50 PM - Mike Kelly: woot got my printer running, this new probe switch is much nicer

Apr 3, 2015 9:21 PM - Mike Kelly: barely eben touches
Apr 3, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Glass: How does that work? if the nozzle does not touch how does it know?
Apr 3, 2015 9:25 PM - Mike Kelly: the solenoid closes a switch and when it touches the circuit opens
Apr 3, 2015 9:26 PM - Mike Glass: yeah yeah, I understand that, but if the head is not touching the bed how is that compensated.
    Apr 3, 2015 9:26 PM - Mike Kelly: firmware
Apr 3, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Glass: so just a magical number you have to play untill its correct?
    Apr 3, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i tell it that it's 18.5mm away on the x and -4.0 on the Y
Apr 3, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Kelly: which i get from solidworks
Apr 3, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Kelly: then i figure out the Z offset by homing and lowering Z till it touches the bed
    Apr 3, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Glass: Gotcha
Apr 3, 2015 9:30 PM - Mike Glass: what do you think about proximity sensors for bed leveling?
Apr 3, 2015 9:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i like it but you need a metal bed for it

Apr 3, 2015 9:42 PM - Mike Glass: love that camera mount moves so nice.
    Apr 3, 2015 9:43 PM - Mike Glass: 80%
Apr 3, 2015 9:43 PM - Mike Glass: seems dumb but was recommended
Apr 3, 2015 9:44 PM - Mike Glass: thats why its a 120+ hour print
Apr 3, 2015 9:44 PM - Mike Glass: I just have 2 more of these then I will take pic of all the parts

    Apr 4, 2015 4:59 AM - Bill Monroe: have a good one!
Apr 4, 2015 8:21 AM - Bradf80: Any ever have the Y axis motors kind of seize up in the middle of a print?
Apr 4, 2015 8:22 AM - Bradf80: Not sure if it's the motors or just a belt slipping. Starts perfect then stops moving up the axis.
    Apr 4, 2015 8:23 AM - Bradf80: Oh I'm sorry Z axis...lol early
    Apr 4, 2015 8:27 AM - jbigler1986: Z or x?
    Apr 4, 2015 8:28 AM - Bradf80: Z axis it doesn't move up
Apr 4, 2015 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: What happens when you tell the software to move z up or down? Does it make any noise at all?
Apr 4, 2015 8:33 AM - Bradf80: If I reset the machine I can move it up and down the axis perfectly
    Apr 4, 2015 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: By hand or via software?
    Apr 4, 2015 8:35 AM - Bradf80: via mattercontrol
Apr 4, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: So it's just during a print that is won't move up or down?
Apr 4, 2015 8:37 AM - Bradf80: yeah about halfway through the print it seems like it siezes up
    Apr 4, 2015 8:41 AM - jbigler1986: Are you printing using a computer?
Apr 4, 2015 8:42 AM - jbigler1986: Also how tall does it happen?
Apr 4, 2015 8:42 AM - Bradf80: Getting a picture of an example one sec
    Apr 4, 2015 8:42 AM - Bradf80: http://imgur.com/uj2pSAg
Apr 4, 2015 8:44 AM - Bradf80: As you can see, it starts fine, then the spacing goes awry and the nozzle starts just running on the part pushing the plastic around
Apr 4, 2015 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: Does you have a fan on the ramps
Apr 4, 2015 8:46 AM - Bradf80: It's whatever the stock setup is. I started on this machine about a week ago. I've printed a bunch of parts then stalemated once I ran into this issue.
    Apr 4, 2015 8:47 AM - jbigler1986: Are you printing from a computer
    Apr 4, 2015 8:47 AM - Bradf80: Yeah, mattercontrol via USB cable
Apr 4, 2015 8:49 AM - jbigler1986: Try printing from SD card. Sometimes computers have glitches/freeze go to sleep whatever that will cause issues like that
Apr 4, 2015 8:51 AM - Bradf80: I'll try, but I don't think it's my machine. I'm a computer geek. It doesn't get to go to sleep and there's no way it would freeze at idle. I don't run automatic anything on my computer just for that reason.
Apr 4, 2015 8:51 AM - jbigler1986: Trust me. It happens to lots of people for various reasons.
Apr 4, 2015 8:52 AM - Bradf80: That would be absolutely lame if I had to print from SD, no way to make live changes.
Apr 4, 2015 8:54 AM - jbigler1986: Use repetier. You can print from SD card but still use the software controls. I suggest getting lcd screen. It will let you completely control the printer without a computer
    Apr 4, 2015 8:54 AM - jbigler1986: They are like $24
Apr 4, 2015 8:54 AM - Bradf80: I'm not into modding the printer. I want it to do work, not tinker with it.
Apr 4, 2015 8:55 AM - Bradf80: I know some tinkering is necesaary, but I'm not all about adding all this stuff onto these.
Apr 4, 2015 8:58 AM - jbigler1986: It's pretty much plug and play. Also with the Robo there is a decent amount of tinkering with it
Apr 4, 2015 8:59 AM - Bradf80: I'd rather not add anything, and I likely won't. Coming from the automotive industry, I know very well the more you mod; the more that breaks. I always go by the old rule of "keep it simple stupid".
Apr 4, 2015 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: It's as simple as plugging in a ribbon cable to the ramps board. But if you don't want to I can't make you. It's just a suggestion and something that most robo users do
Apr 4, 2015 9:02 AM - Bradf80: They need to ship the printer with one then if it's necessary. That doesn't make sense. It's like buying a car then changing the dashboard because it came with a non functional one.
Apr 4, 2015 9:05 AM - jbigler1986: It's not necessary just highly recommended by users
Apr 4, 2015 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: That's why they added a SD card slot and most printers
Apr 4, 2015 9:09 AM - Bradf80: Digging in the forums people were saying something about the Z axis overheating
Apr 4, 2015 9:09 AM - Bradf80: That makes more sense as the machine seems to freeze up and fritz out. A hard reset and unplugging the machine is the only way I get comms back up.
Apr 4, 2015 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: Check to make sure your ramps fan is working
Apr 4, 2015 9:17 AM - TechSupportGo: whats up jb
Apr 4, 2015 9:20 AM - Bradf80: It sounds like the fan is working. I just took the bottom cover off to see if there's anything funky in there. Is this fan reversible and able to push instead of pull?

Apr 4, 2015 9:22 AM - TechSupportGo: just fyi if you want to make a parametric gear in solidworks just flip a copy and attach it
    Apr 4, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah just like all fans
    Apr 4, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: Nice tech
Apr 4, 2015 9:28 AM - Bradf80: Seems like the fan is working. Going to hang the printer over the edge of the table so the fan doesn't have any air restrictions and see if it helps at all
    Apr 4, 2015 9:31 AM - dbvanhorn: Good morning!
Apr 4, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: Try to print from SD too
    Apr 4, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: Good morning
    Apr 4, 2015 9:33 AM - jbigler1986: Hey tech
Apr 4, 2015 9:34 AM - dbvanhorn: Humming along wonderfully today. Yesterday was a day when anything could malfunction, and most things did.
Apr 4, 2015 9:35 AM - dbvanhorn: Making component mounts for high voltage measurement. Nothing too complicated, but it's wonderful to just make exactly the part I need.
    Apr 4, 2015 9:36 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah it's a good feeling
Apr 4, 2015 9:37 AM - dbvanhorn: @ Bradf80: So you can control the Z axis from MC but it somehow stops working during a real print?
    Apr 4, 2015 9:37 AM - Bradf80: Yeah dbvanhorn
    Apr 4, 2015 9:37 AM - Bradf80: Before I start a print I can do everything with the Z axis. 1mm, 10mm, 100mm increments up don 50 times no problems
Apr 4, 2015 9:37 AM - dbvanhorn: When the print fails, can you immediately abort the print, go into MC and still control the Z?
    Apr 4, 2015 9:38 AM - Bradf80: down
Apr 4, 2015 9:38 AM - Bradf80: But half way through the print the Z axis seems stuck
Apr 4, 2015 9:39 AM - Bradf80: If I cancel the print I can't control the printer at all through matter control
Apr 4, 2015 9:39 AM - Bradf80: I have to hard reset it and unplug it for a minute then plug it in and it works fine
Apr 4, 2015 9:39 AM - dbvanhorn: Ah.. I agree sounds like an overheat or loss of comms.
Apr 4, 2015 9:40 AM - dbvanhorn: There are thermal cutouts (Polyswitches) on the motor PCB that can overheat and shut you down.
Apr 4, 2015 9:40 AM - dbvanhorn: An experiment: Without any filament mounted, try a deliberate air print, but set the bed and extruder temperatures very low.
    Apr 4, 2015 9:41 AM - Bradf80: good idea
Apr 4, 2015 9:41 AM - dbvanhorn: That should keep the polyswitches cooler.. See if it prints to the right height.
Apr 4, 2015 9:41 AM - Bradf80: Just trying to get the ziptie for the cable attached to the top cover again. lol
    Apr 4, 2015 9:41 AM - Bradf80: so annoying that ziptie is
    Apr 4, 2015 9:41 AM - dbvanhorn: I use a rubber band and a dowel.
Apr 4, 2015 9:42 AM - dbvanhorn: The dowel is on top, the band goes through the slot at the top.
Apr 4, 2015 9:45 AM - Bradf80: If I get this thing back up I'm going to design something for that stupid ziptie lol
Apr 4, 2015 9:52 AM - dbvanhorn: I've thought about it, but the dowel is working fine and it eliminated the noise I was having when the head goes back and forth.
Apr 4, 2015 9:53 AM - Bradf80: set the extruder to 50, pulled the filament out gonna try a dry run right now with the fan vent just moved off the table so there's no restriction of airflow
Apr 4, 2015 9:54 AM - Bradf80: I really like mattercontrol, if I have to print from SD I'm not going to be a happy camper
    Apr 4, 2015 9:54 AM - dbvanhorn: I haven't had that problem, but it's always 72 degrees in here.
Apr 4, 2015 9:55 AM - dbvanhorn: There are some nice feet that will lift the printer by about 3/4 inch
Apr 4, 2015 9:55 AM - Bradf80: I believe it's about 76 in my room. I didn't want to keep it super cool so I didn't have any issues with the ambient air cooling the parts too fast
Apr 4, 2015 9:57 AM - Bradf80: Is there anyway to have the overheat algorithm just lift the z axis before shutdown?
Apr 4, 2015 9:57 AM - Bradf80: That would allow me to resume the print once it's cooled
    Apr 4, 2015 9:58 AM - dbvanhorn: It's not an algorithm, it's a component.
Apr 4, 2015 9:59 AM - Bradf80: Ahh not controlled by the firmware then
Apr 4, 2015 9:59 AM - dbvanhorn: Kind of like a fuse, but self resetting. External temperature affects these a lot more than fuses, and they also are more likely to trip if tripped recently.
    Apr 4, 2015 9:59 AM - Bradf80: Yeah they are breakers
    Apr 4, 2015 10:01 AM - dbvanhorn: http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/A21773-000/A21773-000-ND/1045810
Apr 4, 2015 10:01 AM - dbvanhorn: More than you ever wanted to know about polyswitches in the data sheet linked from there.
Apr 4, 2015 10:02 AM - dbvanhorn: That test should print ok if it's the polyswitches.
Apr 4, 2015 10:03 AM - Bradf80: It'll take about 30min to get to the point it crashed before
Apr 4, 2015 10:08 AM - Bradf80: Just trying to print out a tablet holding for the kitchen for my wife bahaha
Apr 4, 2015 10:08 AM - Bradf80: I have Skanect and an xbox kinect I've scanned a few things and I'd like to put them to life.
Apr 4, 2015 10:10 AM - jbigler1986: I've been having a similar issue to you. Z drops a few millimeters during prints sometimes. Haven't figured out the fix yet. I have linear steppers that I'm going to install Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully that solves it.
Apr 4, 2015 10:14 AM - Bradf80: If it's a cooling issue, I'm going to bolt a power supply to my workbench and add a bunch of fans lol.
Apr 4, 2015 10:15 AM - Bradf80: I can't see adding anything to the current power supply. It's already drawing at 70% or so it seems
Apr 4, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: wud up peeps
    Apr 4, 2015 10:17 AM - Bradf80: Hi Mike
    Apr 4, 2015 10:17 AM - Mike Glass: heya
Apr 4, 2015 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: brad when the Z axis stops does everything stop or do they keep moving
    Apr 4, 2015 10:17 AM - Bradf80: Keeps moving
    Apr 4, 2015 10:17 AM - Bradf80: Z axis just drags in the print
Apr 4, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: have you lubricated your rods
    Apr 4, 2015 10:18 AM - Bradf80: Yeah, 3 in 1 oil
Apr 4, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Glass: that sounded dirty
Apr 4, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: then it's probably not the polyfuse since that would stall all axis
Apr 4, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: most likely it's the stepper driver current issue
Apr 4, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: you'll need to tune the potentiometer on it
Apr 4, 2015 10:19 AM - Bradf80: What about the fact that I lose control when the z axis freezes?
Apr 4, 2015 10:19 AM - Bradf80: I can stop the job but then it hangs and I have to hard reset the machine by unplugging everything
    Apr 4, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: that's probably a usb comm issue
Apr 4, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: you could try updating the firmware
Apr 4, 2015 10:21 AM - Bradf80: It's at the latest. Kinda of odd that it all of a sudden started though
Apr 4, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: complex machines
    Apr 4, 2015 10:22 AM - Bradf80: haha that's no excuse!
Apr 4, 2015 10:22 AM - Bradf80: Is there a place to redownload the firmware? I'm on the latest at the moment
Apr 4, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: does it make any noises
Apr 4, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i still think it's the stepper driver
    Apr 4, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: http://help.robo3dprinter.com/Wiki/RoBo_3D_Firmware
Apr 4, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: getting hot?
Apr 4, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: either getting hot from over current or being under current
Apr 4, 2015 10:23 AM - Bradf80: I have a finished piece next to the print head at the moment. Going to see if the air run finishes at the same height
    Apr 4, 2015 10:24 AM - Bradf80: The firmware with 8mm rods is a mod firmware?
    Apr 4, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: it's stock?
    Apr 4, 2015 10:24 AM - Bradf80: oh yeah
    Apr 4, 2015 10:24 AM - Bradf80: i don't mod anything if I don't have to
    Apr 4, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's not a mod
Apr 4, 2015 10:27 AM - jbigler1986: I think mine overheats possibly. Haven't checked the fan in a while. I should do that while I'm upgrading the stepper
Apr 4, 2015 10:29 AM - Bradf80: This potentiometer adjustment, is there a how-to? Or do I just hook my multimeter up and adjust to a spec?
Apr 4, 2015 10:29 AM - jbigler1986: Having the same issue as Brad it seems.
    Apr 4, 2015 10:33 AM - jbigler1986: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...twIwBw&usg=AFQjCNEab8EklMJ1pSSNBGgSC8LGaisjYw
    Apr 4, 2015 10:33 AM - jbigler1986: There ya go Brad
    Apr 4, 2015 10:43 AM - Bradf80: thanks!
Apr 4, 2015 10:43 AM - Bradf80: Z axis stopped in the dry run was well
Apr 4, 2015 10:45 AM - dbvanhorn: Interesting. Did it stop at the right point?
Apr 4, 2015 10:46 AM - Bradf80: not at the right height, but the right point, and it went back to the back of the platform when it was done, just didn't go down or up
Apr 4, 2015 10:48 AM - Bradf80: I'm going to check the potentiometers, right now and see if they are a little off
Apr 4, 2015 10:49 AM - Bradf80: here we go, I can control the z axis now that the job is finished
Apr 4, 2015 10:49 AM - Bradf80: I hear a hum but it doesn't move it looks like, one sec
Apr 4, 2015 10:51 AM - Bradf80: The motor is humming but not moving, If I give it help it spins some and stops. Looks like a bad motor
Apr 4, 2015 10:51 AM - Bradf80: Unless somehow the voltage is too low ?
    Apr 4, 2015 10:52 AM - Bradf80: I think I need to call tech support, bahaha
Apr 4, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Glass: hmm how come I cant install netfabb on a x64 machine?
Apr 4, 2015 10:53 AM - Mike Glass: THe old version installs fine just not the current..strange
Apr 4, 2015 10:54 AM - Bradf80: Hrmm, I just installed it the other day. Maybe a week ago?
    Apr 4, 2015 10:54 AM - Bradf80: Running Windows 7 64 bit

    Apr 4, 2015 10:54 AM - Bradf80: Thought it was something I needed then I realized it's not necessary
Apr 4, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd suggest calling tech support. feel your stepper driver and see if it's very hot
Apr 4, 2015 10:57 AM - Bradf80: I have an temp gun I'll see what the temp is
    Apr 4, 2015 10:57 AM - Bradf80: It's really odd. It's like a jam almost
Apr 4, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: just do a feel test
Apr 4, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: if it's a jam it probably needs more lubrication
    Apr 4, 2015 10:57 AM - Bradf80: The rods twist a little then hum
Apr 4, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: or the threads are damaged
Apr 4, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: could be under current as well
Apr 4, 2015 10:58 AM - Bradf80: I can spin them by hand pretty easily
    Apr 4, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: doesn't matter really
Apr 4, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: so there you go, that's all my thoughts
Apr 4, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: go through the check list
Apr 4, 2015 11:00 AM - Bradf80: is there a number for tech support? I see the contact us number but not a tech support number
    Apr 4, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: Same number
    Apr 4, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.robo3d.com/pages/schedule-robo3d-printer-tech
    Apr 4, 2015 11:02 AM - Bradf80: cool thanks
Apr 4, 2015 11:02 AM - Bradf80: I was going to try the voltage adjustment 1.45 volts right?
Apr 4, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: don't worry about the value, do a physical tuning
Apr 4, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: raise the carriage up to the top, then tell it to home, adjust the pot till it stalls then raise it up again
Apr 4, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: then send G1 Z220.0 to raise it back up again and repeat
Apr 4, 2015 11:03 AM - Bradf80: if I can't raise it up with the software because it won't move I don't think that's going to work though right
    Apr 4, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: that doesn't make sense
Apr 4, 2015 11:04 AM - Bradf80: If the carriage doesn't move up the axis with commands, that adjustment method would not work
Apr 4, 2015 11:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i thought you said after a hard reset it would work
    Apr 4, 2015 11:08 AM - Bradf80: yeah it does
Apr 4, 2015 11:08 AM - Soupaboy: Forum, Forum on the wall, who has the greatest Robo of them all?
Apr 4, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: ok so do a hard reset and get it working
Apr 4, 2015 11:09 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm mike g's looks pretty good right now
Apr 4, 2015 11:09 AM - Soupaboy: new admin colour text?
Apr 4, 2015 11:10 AM - Soupaboy: or is my phone being werird
    Apr 4, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: i changed it
    Apr 4, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Glass: http://imgur.com/LiGRa27. Here it is
Apr 4, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: those look awesome
    Apr 4, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: 120+ hours of printing
Apr 4, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: I love this pla not one piece warped
    Apr 4, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: justpla?
    Apr 4, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Glass: yep.
Apr 4, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Glass: should have everyting next week, ordering the motor tomorrow with the 25% coupon at harbor freight
    Apr 4, 2015 11:17 AM - dbvanhorn: Wow, nice!
Apr 4, 2015 11:17 AM - dbvanhorn: What will it be when it's all growed up?
    Apr 4, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Glass: Multi-tool / cnc
Apr 4, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Glass: Now got to find a laser for it.
Apr 4, 2015 11:18 AM - dbvanhorn: Cool. My machine loves PLA. I need to experiment with other materials, but I'm momentarily more focussed on making stuff.
    Apr 4, 2015 11:18 AM - dbvanhorn: www.wickedlasers.com :)
    Apr 4, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Glass: Im talking cutting lasers..lol
Apr 4, 2015 11:19 AM - dbvanhorn: I have the Arctic blue.. It cuts. Slowly.
    Apr 4, 2015 11:19 AM - dbvanhorn: Co2 then?
Apr 4, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Glass: no want to stick to diode
Apr 4, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: hang on i have a link to a laser cutter
Apr 4, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Glass: enough to cut balsa
Apr 4, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Glass: or etching
    Apr 4, 2015 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: Damn turkey's are everywhere here
    Apr 4, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: http://jtechphotonics.com/?page_id=333
Apr 4, 2015 11:22 AM - jbigler1986: Lol. Nice link the first time MK
Apr 4, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's confusing copying links when i'm copying from a PC on my mac through splashtop
    Apr 4, 2015 11:23 AM - jbigler1986: It happens
Apr 4, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Glass: ok that is the one I had on my list:)
Apr 4, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: well then i'm of no help
Apr 4, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Glass: knew it was around $350
Apr 4, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Glass: now I will bookmark it so thanks
Apr 4, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: sure sure
Apr 4, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Glass: there is another one for like 150 but not as powerful
    Apr 4, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i wouldn't cheap out on a laser cutter
    Apr 4, 2015 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: well to a point
Apr 4, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Glass: Now I need to find a Kinect
Apr 4, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Glass: or an asus whatever
    Apr 4, 2015 11:27 AM - jbigler1986: Get a 2.0
    Apr 4, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Glass: why?
Apr 4, 2015 11:28 AM - jbigler1986: First one sucked. Second one is way better. Not sure how software is for it though
Apr 4, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Glass: This is just for 3d scanning
Apr 4, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Glass: ugg I suck at blender,
Apr 4, 2015 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: Idk how the Asus is. Never seen it in action
Apr 4, 2015 11:30 AM - Bradf80: the xbox 360 kinect is amazing for scanning
Apr 4, 2015 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: I have everything ready for the steppers now (if I don't need to rewire)
Apr 4, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Glass: I ordered some parts to make a motorized scanning table
    Apr 4, 2015 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: I will cross my fingers on that
Apr 4, 2015 11:32 AM - Bradf80: I called tech support, they had nothing for me and said to schedule a skype support session gah
    Apr 4, 2015 11:32 AM - Bradf80: I use an old record player turntable
    Apr 4, 2015 11:32 AM - Bradf80: Put a potiometor on the speed switch =P
Apr 4, 2015 11:32 AM - dbvanhorn: Not that long ago, people made stuff out of brass, steel, iron, copper, wood, glass, and maybe rubber of a sort.
    Apr 4, 2015 11:33 AM - Mike Glass: WHats a record player..lol
    Apr 4, 2015 11:33 AM - Bradf80: bahaha
Apr 4, 2015 11:33 AM - dbvanhorn: A fair selection of metals and woods, can't forget leather and fabric. The last 200 years have seen an explosion of materials.
    Apr 4, 2015 11:33 AM - dbvanhorn: In 200 years... ?
Apr 4, 2015 11:34 AM - dbvanhorn: It's the advanced form of the cylinder player!
Apr 4, 2015 11:34 AM - dbvanhorn: I have a quack medical device, even older than that, that still works, and it's electrical.
    Apr 4, 2015 11:34 AM - Bradf80: http://www.negrophonic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/record_player.jpg
Apr 4, 2015 11:35 AM - dbvanhorn: When 100 years old your plasma TV is, work as well it will not! hmm?
Apr 4, 2015 11:35 AM - Bradf80: There you go, contraption similar to that =P
Apr 4, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: brad it would be helpful to know if the heatsink is hot when you get the stall
Apr 4, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: just do a feel test
Apr 4, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: if it's too hot to keep your finger on that's the smoking gun
    Apr 4, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: otherwise it's under current/damaged rods/needs more lubrication
Apr 4, 2015 11:38 AM - dbvanhorn: Smoking Finger? The old calibrated thumb test.
Apr 4, 2015 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: lol it won't be THAT hot
Apr 4, 2015 11:38 AM - Bradf80: Oh sorry Mike, it wasn't any more hot than the rest of them
Apr 4, 2015 11:38 AM - dbvanhorn: If the rods are binding, the steppers should be complaining loudly, and hard to turn at that point, no?
Apr 4, 2015 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: not necessarily
    Apr 4, 2015 11:39 AM - Bradf80: I saw this on the forum... http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/new-firmware-causing-z-to-jam.3771/

Apr 4, 2015 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: ok so then it's probably under current, rotate your potentiometer a bit
Apr 4, 2015 11:40 AM - Mike Kelly: clockwise increases current
Apr 4, 2015 11:40 AM - Bradf80: Do I just have to have the USB plugged in or the machine powered on completely?
Apr 4, 2015 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: not if you're just turning it up
Apr 4, 2015 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: but i suggest doing a physical "dumb" calibration
    Apr 4, 2015 11:43 AM - Mike Kelly: like i mentioned before
Apr 4, 2015 11:43 AM - dbvanhorn: Crank it up till it just stalls at the physical limit?
Apr 4, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Kelly: well no you don't want too much current or it will over heat
    Apr 4, 2015 11:44 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a fine balance
Apr 4, 2015 11:47 AM - dbvanhorn: I was wondering about that. You need enough available torque for acceleration, plus a somewhat unpredictable load, but not enough to cook the steppers. Without position feedback, that's less than easy.
Apr 4, 2015 11:48 AM - Bradf80: It would make much more sense to adjust to a specified voltage range
    Apr 4, 2015 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: don't over think things
Apr 4, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: sometimes it's worth being thorough, this is not one of those times
Apr 4, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: bah i want to print a traffic cone but left my orange at the office
Apr 4, 2015 12:21 PM - Bradf80: Changed the firmware, going to see if that helps
Apr 4, 2015 12:22 PM - Bradf80: Matter control has the Robo3dR1V2 , but the firmware from the robo3d site is V4 it's like 3 months newer. Even after I updated the firmware; matter control wanted me to revert it back lol
Apr 4, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: that could be half you problem.. MC SUCKY
Apr 4, 2015 12:25 PM - Bradf80: Had to update via the arduino software, which is no big deal
Apr 4, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: Don't worry about the names
Apr 4, 2015 1:04 PM - dbvanhorn: I haven't wanted to mess with firmware. Wierd for me as I'm an AVR microcontroller expert, and I normally go for the latest and greatest.
Apr 4, 2015 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: there's really not much point
Apr 4, 2015 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: nothing has changed of significance since july
Apr 4, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: They shipped with the wrong firmware on some of them. Like mine
Apr 4, 2015 1:29 PM - dbvanhorn: Which one is the wrong one?
Apr 4, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: if your Z steps is not 2560 it's the wrong ne
Apr 4, 2015 1:31 PM - dbvanhorn: hmm.. I don't remember what my original number was. It was not printing to scale, so I worked with that. 2267.72 is what I ended up with.
    Apr 4, 2015 1:31 PM - Mike Glass: is your's 8mm or 5/16
    Apr 4, 2015 1:32 PM - dbvanhorn: yes
    Apr 4, 2015 1:32 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Apr 4, 2015 1:32 PM - dbvanhorn: What diameter would the threaded rods be?
Apr 4, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: measure the thread pitch
    Apr 4, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: 1.25mm is M8, 1.4111 is 5/16
Apr 4, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: or if you measure an inch and count the threads, M8 is ~21 and 5/16 is 18
    Apr 4, 2015 1:34 PM - dbvanhorn: I get 7.82mm dia
Apr 4, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Kelly: diameter for the two are nearly identical
Apr 4, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Kelly: won't help to measure the diameter
Apr 4, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Kelly: 5/16 is like 7.95mm but screws OD's are always less than
Apr 4, 2015 1:36 PM - dbvanhorn: These should come with a "birth certificate" showing configuration.
Apr 4, 2015 1:37 PM - dbvanhorn: hard to count turns..
Apr 4, 2015 1:43 PM - dbvanhorn: I printed a number of test objects and adjusted.
Apr 4, 2015 1:43 PM - dbvanhorn: In theory, there should be only one value for either thread pitch. What would they be?
Apr 4, 2015 2:13 PM - Bradf80: I did a dry run with the firmware change and it appeared to work correctly. So I just reloaded with filament and I'm trying to print a smaller object. We'll see how it goes.
    Apr 4, 2015 3:27 PM - Bradf80: http://imgur.com/Vr0mKP1
Apr 4, 2015 3:28 PM - Bradf80: firmware change appears to have fixed the issue!
Apr 4, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Glass: yea, looks good
    Apr 4, 2015 3:47 PM - Mike Kelly: cool
Apr 4, 2015 4:51 PM - dbvanhorn: That looks pretty good!
    Apr 4, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: db: 2560 steps for M8, 2267.72 for 5/16-18
Apr 4, 2015 5:05 PM - dbvanhorn: Huh.. So I arrived at exactly the value for 5/16-18.
    Apr 4, 2015 5:05 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 4, 2015 5:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i mean it's a calculated value so there's only one correct answer
Apr 4, 2015 5:13 PM - dbvanhorn: How scientific.. :) Still, cool that I nailed it
    Apr 4, 2015 5:17 PM - Mike Kelly: http://prusaprinters.org/calculator/
Apr 4, 2015 5:19 PM - dbvanhorn: I got there the hard way, "Hmm.. Not as tall as it should be.. Tweak and repeat".
Apr 4, 2015 5:19 PM - dbvanhorn: I had no idea I could get a printer that wasn't set up right.
    Apr 4, 2015 5:20 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah well :)
    Apr 4, 2015 5:21 PM - jbigler1986: What's going on fellas
Apr 4, 2015 5:38 PM - Bradf80: Can you print from SD but still use the live control from mattercontrol?
Apr 4, 2015 5:38 PM - jbigler1986: No joke. Best chicken I have ever had at Dixie Stampede
Apr 4, 2015 5:38 PM - jbigler1986: Not sure about MC but you can with repetier
Apr 4, 2015 5:39 PM - Bradf80: You just put the SD card in the printer and then what?
    Apr 4, 2015 5:40 PM - Bradf80: I can't stand repetier's interface, it's like a 6 year old designed it
Apr 4, 2015 5:42 PM - jbigler1986: Repetier is actually very nice. I thought the same at first until I started using it
Apr 4, 2015 5:43 PM - jbigler1986: If you are asking about MC I have no idea. Never used SD with it
Apr 4, 2015 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: I usually save gcode to SD card. Put SD card in lcd screen. Start print with lcd. Then if needed I can do what I need to with repetier
Apr 4, 2015 5:54 PM - Bradf80: This power supply is already working too much as is, no way I would add more electronics to it
Apr 4, 2015 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: What have you added to it?
    Apr 4, 2015 6:00 PM - Bradf80: Nothing
Apr 4, 2015 6:00 PM - Bradf80: The stock power supply doesn't have much room to grow. It's running at like 70% capacity
Apr 4, 2015 6:04 PM - dbvanhorn: 70% isn't bad for a switcher. But, cooler does mean longer life. My PC has a 1500W power supply, and I draw 400ish It runs very cool.
Apr 4, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Kelly: The psu is only at half capacity
Apr 4, 2015 6:29 PM - Mike Kelly: Maybe 16A if everything was pulling full load. Nominal is probably less than 8
Apr 4, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Kelly: It's rated to 30A so unless you're adding another heater there s not much to worry about
Apr 4, 2015 6:41 PM - Wikid: Hey Mike, got a quick question. Im printing some new Z rod supports for Dual rods, would PLA be an OK material or should I use XT?
Apr 4, 2015 6:45 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA in an environment that can reach above 70C isn't a good idea
    Apr 4, 2015 6:46 PM - Ben R: glass transition temperature 60–65 °C
    Apr 4, 2015 6:46 PM - Mike Kelly: 60C then
Apr 4, 2015 6:46 PM - Ben R: point being. its not durable. It's like a butter sculpture
Apr 4, 2015 6:47 PM - Wikid: So XT then?
    Apr 4, 2015 6:47 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Apr 4, 2015 6:47 PM - Ben R: anything but PLA
Apr 4, 2015 6:47 PM - Wikid: Does XT shrink much? need to see if i need to modify the hole sizes
Apr 4, 2015 6:48 PM - Wikid: I havent printed with XT yet I do have a roll of it though, but ATM I am trying to clean my hotend it seems to be underextruding but I cant get anything to come out
Apr 4, 2015 6:49 PM - Ben R: if it doesn't warp off your bed, it can't be too bad
Apr 4, 2015 6:49 PM - Wikid: Thouhgh I do wish I had a different color then black now =P
    Apr 4, 2015 6:50 PM - Wikid: though*
Apr 4, 2015 6:50 PM - Mike Kelly: omg this red wings shootout is in round 9
Apr 4, 2015 6:50 PM - Mike Kelly: ok they won it holy crap
    Apr 4, 2015 6:51 PM - Mike Kelly: 8 rounds
Apr 4, 2015 6:51 PM - Ben R: I keep breaking thermistors like... any time I do anything (yes, I have limited patience and dexterity, probably related) any alternatives with stronger legs?
Apr 4, 2015 6:51 PM - Mike Kelly: epcos thermistors are stronger than semitecs
Apr 4, 2015 6:52 PM - Mike Kelly: then there's threaded, and thermocouples
Apr 4, 2015 6:52 PM - Wikid: what is the recommended speed and temps for XT
    Apr 4, 2015 6:52 PM - Mike Kelly: temps like 250/70
    Apr 4, 2015 6:52 PM - Mike Kelly: speed shouldn't change
    Apr 4, 2015 6:52 PM - Wikid: fans?
Apr 4, 2015 6:52 PM - Wikid: still like 60-70 for the bed?
Apr 4, 2015 6:53 PM - Ben R: its always the legs where they bend under the washer on the v6 head.. or just random places. rarely at the thermistor proper. I even pulled the leg off a threaded... Just impatient
    Apr 4, 2015 6:53 PM - Ben R: I guess.
Apr 4, 2015 6:53 PM - Mike Kelly: no fan

Apr 4, 2015 6:53 PM - Ben R: Xt is polyester right? That should get full fan... could get full fan
Apr 4, 2015 6:53 PM - Mike Kelly: it's really similar to ABS
    Apr 4, 2015 6:53 PM - Ben R: hmm
Apr 4, 2015 6:54 PM - Wikid: Ive never ran ABS becuase I dont want to deal with the smell =P
Apr 4, 2015 6:54 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why i keep mine in the garage
Apr 4, 2015 6:56 PM - Wikid: HA if i kept mine in the garage all my PLA would be a giant blob gets like 130 in there
Apr 4, 2015 6:56 PM - Ben R: eh the docs say 50-90% fan. but I've not used it. I go 100%+ for other polyesters
Apr 4, 2015 6:57 PM - Ben R: anyway... combination of snafus are making this dual bowden setup frustrating.
    Apr 4, 2015 6:57 PM - Ben R: What's a "long" length for bowden?
Apr 4, 2015 6:57 PM - Mike Kelly: it would need to get to like 140F to start to cause issues with PLA storage
Apr 4, 2015 6:57 PM - Wikid: Thanks for the info
Apr 4, 2015 6:58 PM - Mike Kelly: depends on the material really
Apr 4, 2015 6:58 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't use a fan with my older formula XT
Apr 4, 2015 6:58 PM - Mike Kelly: which is like, insanely hot, for a garage
Apr 4, 2015 6:59 PM - Ben R: but great for printing ABS..
    Apr 4, 2015 6:59 PM - Ben R: or other warpies
Apr 4, 2015 6:59 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i get super ABS prints in the summer, i don't even close my enclosure
Apr 4, 2015 7:00 PM - Wikid: Yea middle of texas during summer gets a bit warm in there
    Apr 4, 2015 7:00 PM - Mike Kelly: eh, not 140F hot :p
    Apr 4, 2015 7:01 PM - Ben R: sure... that's how they cook briscuit
Apr 4, 2015 7:01 PM - Ben R: just put it on the picnic table for an afternoon
    Apr 4, 2015 7:01 PM - Wikid: lol
Apr 4, 2015 7:02 PM - Wikid: how well does XT stick to glass, should i just use my tape?
Apr 4, 2015 7:02 PM - Mike Kelly: should be fine with just hairspray
Apr 4, 2015 7:02 PM - Ben R: actually.. blacktop in the summer.. that might hit those temps...
Apr 4, 2015 7:02 PM - Ben R: If its like others, it sticks like mad. tape? That doesn't do a whole lot
Apr 4, 2015 7:03 PM - Ben R: If you hate hair spray or glue... I would never print on clean glass... it might work.. but I don't like that "might"
Apr 4, 2015 7:03 PM - Mike Kelly: tape works great for PLA
Apr 4, 2015 7:03 PM - Ben R: YEa, but who uses that... it gets to like 140C out here in the summer
Apr 4, 2015 7:03 PM - Wikid: the PLA i ahve doesnt like to stick to the glass or hairspray
Apr 4, 2015 7:04 PM - Ben R: not stick to hair spray! Blasphemy!
Apr 4, 2015 7:04 PM - Ben R: Oh.. maybe it wouldn't do much if you were printing on COLD glass
Apr 4, 2015 7:04 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA is annoying
    Apr 4, 2015 7:04 PM - Ben R: I don't think HS works well when cold
Apr 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Ben R: I don't know. My best quality tests are in PLA.
Apr 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Mike Kelly: everything above the first layer is better with PLA
Apr 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Ben R: Or really really good ABS
Apr 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Mike Kelly: first layer with PLA is super finicky
Apr 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Mike Kelly: ABS sticks super well
Apr 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Wikid: I normally heat the bed then apply it but the PLA starts to pull away
Apr 4, 2015 7:05 PM - Ben R: hmm.. you may have something there.. I remember having so much trouble with first layers back in PLA days
    Apr 4, 2015 7:06 PM - Wikid: ah ok
Apr 4, 2015 7:06 PM - Ben R: I've only had problems with adherence with nylon and accidentally leaving the fan on full blast
Apr 4, 2015 7:06 PM - Mike Kelly: that's why i prefer ABS, *just sticks*
Apr 4, 2015 7:06 PM - Ben R: unless you leave your fan on
Apr 4, 2015 7:07 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah well
Apr 4, 2015 7:07 PM - Ben R: I'm about to put my printer back to single nozzle for a bit, give myself a break from wrestling the duals.
    Apr 4, 2015 7:07 PM - Ben R: Though I think I'll swap the hex for the e3dv6
Apr 4, 2015 7:08 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i need new hobbed gears
    Apr 4, 2015 7:08 PM - Wikid: I kinda wanna go bowden
    Apr 4, 2015 7:08 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm considering the bondtech v2
Apr 4, 2015 7:09 PM - Wikid: oh hey, how well does that cleaning filiment work?
    Apr 4, 2015 7:09 PM - Mike Kelly: i like it
Apr 4, 2015 7:09 PM - Ben R: eh.. no positives to bowden ... well 2. ringing is minimal and duals
    Apr 4, 2015 7:10 PM - Ben R: cleaning filament... isn't that just HIPS?
Apr 4, 2015 7:10 PM - Ben R: well.. I know some are selling hips as cleaner
    Apr 4, 2015 7:10 PM - Mike Kelly: no it's not hips
Apr 4, 2015 7:10 PM - Wikid: I keep running into issues with the hotend getting plugged with little black bits of crap
Apr 4, 2015 7:10 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah cleaning filament between prints is a great way to fix that
    Apr 4, 2015 7:11 PM - Wikid: ah ok
Apr 4, 2015 7:11 PM - Wikid: trying to upgrade the robo to dual Z axis smooth rods and those NEMA 17 motors
Apr 4, 2015 7:12 PM - Mike Kelly: quite the mod
    Apr 4, 2015 7:12 PM - Ben R: when you say "those
Apr 4, 2015 7:12 PM - Wikid: the ones with the integrated threaded Rod
    Apr 4, 2015 7:12 PM - Ben R: yea...
    Apr 4, 2015 7:12 PM - Ben R: those
    Apr 4, 2015 7:12 PM - Ben R: cuz... well I got plenty nema 17
    Apr 4, 2015 7:12 PM - Ben R: but not "those"
Apr 4, 2015 7:13 PM - Ben R: I want to upgrade my ramps and go 23s and build the printer to 24"x24'x24"
Apr 4, 2015 7:13 PM - Ben R: nah.. but its a thought exercise I work on instead of work
    Apr 4, 2015 7:14 PM - Ben R: t channel and big motors etc.
Apr 4, 2015 7:15 PM - Wikid: I also made a nice base plate for the Z motors to mount to out of titanium.... yay lightweight
    Apr 4, 2015 7:16 PM - Ben R: ok...
    Apr 4, 2015 7:16 PM - Ben R: launching into space?
Apr 4, 2015 7:16 PM - Wikid: it was laying around the shop
Apr 4, 2015 7:16 PM - Ben R: I was thinking cast iron... heavier the better...
Apr 4, 2015 7:16 PM - Ben R: solid base with hydraulic dampers
Apr 4, 2015 7:17 PM - Wikid: I dont have issues with the printer flying around on my table though and either way the TI is still heavier than stock
    Apr 4, 2015 7:17 PM - Ben R: is it... I've never disassembled the z motors.
    Apr 4, 2015 7:17 PM - Ben R: looks like a piece of .. some resin plastic
Apr 4, 2015 7:18 PM - Ben R: its not flying around the table... its inertia to soak up other movement.
    Apr 4, 2015 7:19 PM - Ben R: irregregardlessnessly... I ain't doin nuttin to it
Apr 4, 2015 7:19 PM - Wikid: gerr I just want this damn hot end to clean out.
Apr 4, 2015 7:20 PM - Ben R: I wonder what the hell is with other methods... cleaning the ooze out your tray? poor ooze shelf life?
    Apr 4, 2015 7:21 PM - Ben R: Laser alignment?
Apr 4, 2015 7:21 PM - Mike Kelly: nylon cold pulls work pretty well
Apr 4, 2015 7:22 PM - Wikid: yea, just wish I had some nylon only have XT and PLA
    Apr 4, 2015 7:22 PM - Ben R: I just used a 1.9ish MM drill bit to clean out a tube.
Apr 4, 2015 7:22 PM - Ben R: not the best... but it was clogged completely.
    Apr 4, 2015 7:24 PM - Ben R: night
    Apr 4, 2015 7:24 PM - Wikid: later
Apr 4, 2015 7:28 PM - Wikid: is the E3d an upgrade over the Hexagon
Apr 4, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah but nothing huge
Apr 4, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: YOu can go hotter
Apr 4, 2015 7:30 PM - Bradf80: so how many people use sd card printing vs computer?
    Apr 4, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: up to 400c..very usefull
Apr 4, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: if your printing molten lead..lol
Apr 4, 2015 7:31 PM - Wikid: Would be nice to print that new material whats it call PEEK i think has like 100mpa strength needs to be printed at like 400c though
    Apr 4, 2015 7:32 PM - Wikid: I print via computer atm
Apr 4, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh man under extrusion is my white whale

Apr 4, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: Brad I just started using sd printing, it rocks.
    Apr 4, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: brad: http://wiki.mattercontrol.com/Export_to_SD
Apr 4, 2015 7:34 PM - Wikid: what do you mean Kelly? you always over extruding?
    Apr 4, 2015 7:34 PM - Mike Kelly: no i can't find a solution to it
Apr 4, 2015 7:36 PM - Wikid: Ive been having tons of issues with underextruding due to this little clog, at least i think thats the problem. When you push material throught the hotend in the air and the extrusion wants to curl towards the hot end that means there crap in the hotend right
Apr 4, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i need to spend the $50 on getting some better hobbs
Apr 4, 2015 7:37 PM - Wikid: damn spensive bolts
Apr 4, 2015 7:38 PM - Wikid: Im just trying to learn the signs of problems, and getting the tools needed to solve them haha
    Apr 4, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Kelly: http://deezmaker.com/store/#!/~/product/category=0&id=24043350
Apr 4, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Kelly: It is crazy expensive, but that thing looks like it would take off a finger
Apr 4, 2015 7:39 PM - Mike Glass: you can make your own fairly easily
Apr 4, 2015 7:40 PM - Wikid: fancy and yes haha
Apr 4, 2015 7:40 PM - Wikid: it also looks like it would chew up your filiment pretty easy too
Apr 4, 2015 7:40 PM - Mike Glass: If you have a dremel of some sort
Apr 4, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Glass: dont you have access to a mill Mike?
    Apr 4, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i do yes
Apr 4, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i kinda think if i'm gonna spend that much i should go with like a bondtech v2 or a printrbot geared drive
Apr 4, 2015 7:45 PM - Mike Glass: ohhh bontech is nice
Apr 4, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i sent him an email
Apr 4, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Kelly: whats a good dual extrusion print i should test
    Apr 4, 2015 8:04 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:681064 ok found one
Apr 4, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Kelly: hopefully i wake up to a right shark
Apr 4, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Kelly: but it'll probably be off
Apr 4, 2015 8:46 PM - Wikid: Mike if you had the option to redo something on the Robos in terms of their drives what would you change? Im toying with the idea of making a bigger build platform using the Robo and T slot extrusions for the frame
    Apr 4, 2015 8:48 PM - Mike Kelly: uh
    Apr 4, 2015 8:48 PM - Wikid: HAHA
Apr 4, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd build the Eusthathios or the Heruclien
Apr 4, 2015 8:50 PM - Wikid: so make the build plate move in Z insted of y
Apr 4, 2015 8:51 PM - Mike Kelly: right, but simply supported instead of the more conventional cantilevered, like on the ultimaker or makerbot
Apr 4, 2015 8:52 PM - Wikid: Ah ok, some seem to use belts for Z also
Apr 4, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Kelly: well the eusthatios does but i think the herculien uses drive gears
Apr 4, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm maybe not
Apr 4, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Kelly: combination of belts and lead screws
Apr 4, 2015 8:55 PM - Wikid: oh, the pictures i was seeing used a belt and guide rod
Apr 4, 2015 8:56 PM - Wikid: are these printers ones people build or buy kits
Apr 4, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i think the ingentis uses belts only
Apr 4, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Kelly: build, no one sells them
Apr 4, 2015 8:56 PM - Wikid: ah ok, is there a good place to view designs?
Apr 4, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Kelly: well openbuilds has a bunch
    Apr 4, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/eustathios
    Apr 4, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Kelly: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/herculien

Apr 4, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Kelly: same family
    Apr 4, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Kelly: git hub links: https://github.com/jasonsmit4/Eustathios https://github.com/eclsnowman/HercuLien
Apr 4, 2015 8:57 PM - Wikid: oh cool, yea these seem like they would be nice. could use the parts from the Robo pretty well i take it?
Apr 4, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah some of them
    Apr 4, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: uses mostly 10mm rods
Apr 4, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: you could reuse most of the stepper motors and the electronics
Apr 4, 2015 9:00 PM - Wikid: Yea, i would probably go with a 12mm rod so I could run a little bigger platform, I dont really need height just x and y. I like that Eustanthian using belts with lead screws

Apr 4, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Kelly: must be a turbo diesel
    Apr 4, 2015 9:05 PM - Wikid: Compound turbo
Apr 4, 2015 9:07 PM - Wikid: can be tricky to drive in the rain
Apr 4, 2015 9:07 PM - Wikid: mmm that spider v2 is sexy
    Apr 4, 2015 9:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i dig it a lot
Apr 4, 2015 9:08 PM - Wikid: If you were to build something like this would you go with a different controller than the arduino
    Apr 4, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Kelly: hmmm
Apr 4, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: i really like the smoothieboard but i'm not sure it's necessary for anything besides a delta
Apr 4, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: though it might make movement smoother
Apr 4, 2015 9:14 PM - Mike Kelly: if i was gonna do the kraken i might swing for the Azteeg X3 pro
Apr 4, 2015 9:15 PM - Wikid: Now looking at this I may just work on making another printer all together
Apr 4, 2015 9:19 PM - Wikid: Think XT material would be good for the printed parts?
Apr 4, 2015 9:22 PM - Wikid: is a Kraken needed for printing at high speed?
Apr 4, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Kelly: no kraken is for 4 filament extrusion
Apr 4, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah XT should be great if it prints without issue
Apr 4, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Kelly: high speed is kinda tricky, there's a lot of variables involved
Apr 4, 2015 9:28 PM - Wikid: well i say highspeed more than 60 would make me happy lol
Apr 4, 2015 9:29 PM - Mike Kelly: i've heard of people printing 100mm/s on the stock robo, ever tried it?
Apr 4, 2015 9:29 PM - Wikid: Oh right, I was thinking the volcano
Apr 4, 2015 9:29 PM - Mike Kelly: also print time improvements from print speed is primarily from acceleration and jerk settings
Apr 4, 2015 9:30 PM - Wikid: yes Ive set my to 100mm/s the the extrusions were pealing away and wouldnt stick
Apr 4, 2015 9:30 PM - Mike Kelly: layer height is a direct proportional print time improvement
Apr 4, 2015 9:31 PM - Mike Kelly: .2 is twice as fast as .1, etc
Apr 4, 2015 9:31 PM - Wikid: and the machine sounded like it was going to fly apart. one of my supports for the z rod needs a bearing and more snug fit as it seems to be amplifying the harmonics
    Apr 4, 2015 9:31 PM - Wikid: right
    Apr 4, 2015 9:31 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm that's interesting
Apr 4, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: i never messed with that
Apr 4, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: i tried high speed printing for a while with my bowdens
Apr 4, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: but it usually has extrusion issues
    Apr 4, 2015 9:32 PM - Wikid: ah
Apr 4, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Kelly: hard to push filament out a narrow orifice at a fast rate
Apr 4, 2015 9:33 PM - Wikid: Yea i made isolators so that the Z threaded nuts and rods do not interfear with the x carriage, but I needed to constrain the top of the threaded rod to keep it from wobbling all over
    Apr 4, 2015 9:33 PM - Wikid: yea
Apr 4, 2015 9:33 PM - Mike Kelly: did you see marquis's idea?
    Apr 4, 2015 9:34 PM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/the-cure-for-z-banding.5021/
    Apr 4, 2015 9:35 PM - Wikid: ah yea
Apr 4, 2015 9:36 PM - Wikid: though a set of these just showed up today
    Apr 4, 2015 9:36 PM - Wikid: http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/5m...x30mm-for-cnc-stepper-motor-stjc04-p-315.html
    Apr 4, 2015 9:38 PM - Mike Kelly: slick
Apr 4, 2015 9:39 PM - Wikid: Yea, but I need to print some new mounts for the smooth rods as one of my mounts is cracked
    Apr 4, 2015 9:40 PM - Mike Kelly: cool
Apr 4, 2015 9:42 PM - Wikid: Yea gonna use that design that Don made for that dual Z rod design just gonna make it for 1 rod. I still dont like the idea of having the Z nut in the X carriage
    Apr 4, 2015 9:42 PM - Mike Kelly: uh i see
    Apr 4, 2015 9:44 PM - Wikid: do you =P
    Apr 4, 2015 9:45 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
    Apr 4, 2015 9:46 PM - Wikid: haha
Apr 4, 2015 9:46 PM - Mike Kelly: youll have to elaborate that for me
Apr 4, 2015 9:48 PM - Mike Kelly: this must have taken a while
    Apr 4, 2015 9:50 PM - Wikid: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/z-ribbing.4911/
    Apr 4, 2015 9:50 PM - Wikid: scroll down
Apr 4, 2015 9:51 PM - Wikid: I removed the nut for the Z axis and make a block for it to stay in and using the smooth rods as anti rotation
Apr 4, 2015 9:51 PM - Mike Kelly: oh right
Apr 4, 2015 9:51 PM - Wikid: now the threaded rod doesnt interfear with the carriage other than in the Z
Apr 4, 2015 9:51 PM - Mike Kelly: if you click the # it gives you a direct link to the post, fyi
    Apr 4, 2015 9:52 PM - Wikid: ah
Apr 4, 2015 9:52 PM - Wikid: you know somtimes when I find links to this web page it just takes me to the main forum page, you ever have that issue?
    Apr 4, 2015 9:53 PM - Wikid: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/z-ribbing.4911/#post-43335 so that one
Apr 4, 2015 9:55 PM - Mike Kelly: probably because it's to the old url
Apr 4, 2015 9:55 PM - Mike Kelly: harry never fixed that
    Apr 4, 2015 9:55 PM - Mike Kelly: alright i'm off
    Apr 4, 2015 9:57 PM - Wikid: later
Apr 4, 2015 9:58 PM - Mike Glass: NIGHT ALL
    Apr 4, 2015 10:00 PM - TechSupportGo: later
Apr 4, 2015 10:01 PM - TechSupportGo: mg you gonna make this? https://github.com/eclsnowman/Eustathios-Spider-V2
Apr 4, 2015 10:05 PM - Mike Kelly: Maybe if I get some more donations :)
Apr 4, 2015 10:08 PM - TechSupportGo: have you priced the bom?
Apr 5, 2015 6:47 AM - Bradf80: Attempting an SD card print, we'll see how it goes lol
Apr 5, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: SD cards are small, they dont take long to print :)
    Apr 5, 2015 6:53 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Apr 5, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: Mornin Mike
Apr 5, 2015 6:53 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Bill
Apr 5, 2015 6:54 AM - Mike Glass: been quiet in here
Apr 5, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: yes indeed
Apr 5, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: most of my neighbors have left, the dogs are asleep, it's quiet as a mosaleum in my house
Apr 5, 2015 6:57 AM - Mike Glass: I wish I could say the same, screamin excited kids here this morning.
Apr 5, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: with Easter Candy?
Apr 5, 2015 6:58 AM - Mike Glass: yea, they had a hunt this morning in the front yard.
Apr 5, 2015 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: nice.. I remember those days
Apr 5, 2015 6:59 AM - Mike Glass: The Bobcat cnc all printed, http://imgur.com/jQ29ai2
Apr 5, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: you printed those?
    Apr 5, 2015 7:00 AM - Mike Glass: yea, only took 3 weeks..lol
Apr 5, 2015 7:00 AM - Bill Monroe: I didnt know you had 2 color
Apr 5, 2015 7:00 AM - Bill Monroe: veddy nice
Apr 5, 2015 7:00 AM - Mike Glass: I dont, they are separate pieces.
    Apr 5, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: gotcha
Apr 5, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm working on dual nozzle head for my Robo
Apr 5, 2015 7:04 AM - Mike Glass: I see there is a company that has a tri filament extruder, looks interesting.
Apr 5, 2015 7:04 AM - Mike Glass: with on nozzle
    Apr 5, 2015 7:04 AM - Mike Glass: one
Apr 5, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. three seems kinda useless to me.. if they made a dual it might be interesting but I think it says the same limitations and the Cyclops... like material must all be the same..
Apr 5, 2015 7:05 AM - Bill Monroe: using a dissolvable support material is out of the question
Apr 5, 2015 7:08 AM - Mike Glass: Yeah, I dont really care about dual color.
Apr 5, 2015 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: I tired the Chimera.. keeping the two nozzles at the same height was impossible
    Apr 5, 2015 7:10 AM - Bill Monroe: tried
Apr 5, 2015 7:10 AM - Mike Glass: could you imagine quad then..ugg
    Apr 5, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: I can't
Apr 5, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: I've never heard anyone have any success with it
    Apr 5, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: other than E3D selling them :)
Apr 5, 2015 7:41 AM - Bradf80: When printing from SD it seems that the layers start to close so I have to manually adjust the screws. What adjust should I make so I don't have to do that?
Apr 5, 2015 7:42 AM - Mike Glass: That shouldnt change, that comes from your slicer

Apr 5, 2015 7:44 AM - Bradf80: I dunno just seems too close this morning. To where the plastic is like one uniform layer it's so close. It looks nice, but it's not right lol
Apr 5, 2015 7:49 AM - Bradf80: This is after that firmware update too though so maybe I need to adjust something?
Apr 5, 2015 7:53 AM - Printed Solid: How were you running the autolevel before switching? Did you put commands into start gcode or were you using the mattercontrol autolevel routine?
Apr 5, 2015 7:53 AM - Printed Solid: The start gcode should get exported to SD. Autolevel routine may not.
Apr 5, 2015 7:54 AM - Printed Solid: When the print finishes, you should be able to look at the code on the card and see what it did.
Apr 5, 2015 8:11 AM - Bradf80: Yeah I have no idea on that. I just exported to SD from MC and put the SD card in the printer. Then loaded the print from the SD back into MC via the printer. Then clicked print.
    Apr 5, 2015 8:11 AM - Bradf80: I'll dig into it though.
Apr 5, 2015 8:39 AM - Printed Solid: I think that very few people are using that feature, so you can be our forum guru.
    Apr 5, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: mornign
    Apr 5, 2015 9:06 AM - jbigler1986: Morning. 20 minutes to home
Apr 5, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: ready to return to the real world?
    Apr 5, 2015 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: No
    Apr 5, 2015 9:08 AM - Mike Glass: sucka
Apr 5, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Glass: anybody familiar with endmill bits?
    Apr 5, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: i've used them before?
Apr 5, 2015 9:11 AM - Bill Monroe: i've got hundreds of them
Apr 5, 2015 9:14 AM - Mike Glass: I need to engrave a logo in brass for a branding iron,(small soldering iron type) not sure what to use
Apr 5, 2015 9:16 AM - Bill Monroe: sounds like you might want to mill away the background
Apr 5, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Kelly: you shouldn't need anything too strong
Apr 5, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Glass: same bit as aluminum should work i guess.
Apr 5, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: yup brass isn't much harder
Apr 5, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: They want $300 for a custom made stamp, thats crazy.
    Apr 5, 2015 9:35 AM - Mike Kelly: ouch
Apr 5, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Glass: guess that will be the first project for the bobcat
    Apr 5, 2015 9:37 AM - Les Hall: hi
Apr 5, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: Check this dual color. http://imgur.com/jbik3Im

Apr 5, 2015 9:40 AM - Les Hall: thought i might catch Matt here
Apr 5, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Glass: he was her earlier
Apr 5, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: those pieces fit together super well mike
Apr 5, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Glass: Funny the outside I actually made smaller
Apr 5, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Glass: so the eyes and ear pieces would fit better, didnt think I could get it to fit.
Apr 5, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: those sharp edges are super nice
Apr 5, 2015 9:50 AM - Wikid: Hey MikeK, so I fiddle with my Robo last night to quiet her down got priting up to 140
Apr 5, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: I did at .3 LH went fairly slow too.
Apr 5, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: Im actually learning inkscape and blender can do some really cool things together.
Apr 5, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike wanna build me a ramps/arduino/full graphics box for me?
    Apr 5, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: uhhh
Apr 5, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: nice wikid
Apr 5, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: what's in it for me
Apr 5, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Glass: I dunno, what do you got
    Apr 5, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Glass: oh for you..lol
    Apr 5, 2015 9:57 AM - Wikid: youll have a box for the ramps/arduino/full graphics .....
Apr 5, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Glass: yea there ya go
    Apr 5, 2015 9:58 AM - Wikid: ;)
Apr 5, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: maybe you get a full graphics?
    Apr 5, 2015 9:59 AM - Wikid: wait what.......i want a graphics
Apr 5, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Glass: Wikid I saw you mods, they look nice
    Apr 5, 2015 10:02 AM - Wikid: Thanks
Apr 5, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: what did you have in mind?
Apr 5, 2015 10:02 AM - Wikid: After talking to Mike K last night I wanna build a Eustathios
Apr 5, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: that is too small. you wan the HercuLien
Apr 5, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: aren't they the same size
Apr 5, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Glass: They can be any size I think
Apr 5, 2015 10:05 AM - Mike Glass: not sure what the diff is, maybe just a remix
Apr 5, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Glass: So cool [IMG]
Apr 5, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah the tantilus turned into the ingentis which turned into the eustathios which turned into the herculien which turned into the eustathios spider v2
Apr 5, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: i feel like such a dork for having just typed that out
Apr 5, 2015 10:11 AM - dbvanhorn: Sounds like the plot of a superhero movie
Apr 5, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: holy hell laser cutter. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-...s-2Ah5U/w1160-h870-no/IMG_20150128_231103.jpg

Apr 5, 2015 10:21 AM - jbigler1986: haha. Just installed S3D. Gonna check the ramps fan and run a test print
Apr 5, 2015 10:21 AM - jbigler1986: I get not messed with most of the day since I just drove 6 hours
    Apr 5, 2015 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: does S3D auto add G29
    Apr 5, 2015 10:25 AM - jbigler1986: NVM. Just found it
Apr 5, 2015 10:28 AM - Wikid: Yea mike already making my list of items to print for the new printer...
Apr 5, 2015 10:29 AM - Wikid: gotta pick out my colors of XT though
Apr 5, 2015 10:30 AM - Les Hall: i'm getting some Taulman PLAdium and a spool of carbon fiber PLA - nice stuff!
Apr 5, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: wow, this is huge. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-.../AAAAAAAAGK0/r6o9YhZrdKg/w1305-h870-no/15+-+1
Apr 5, 2015 10:31 AM - Les Hall: yes it is
    Apr 5, 2015 10:35 AM - Wikid: thats nice
Apr 5, 2015 10:36 AM - Wikid: I wanna get some of the XT with carbon fiber but not sure how much i like the idea that it will wear out the nozzle
    Apr 5, 2015 10:37 AM - Les Hall: i know, that's a downer
Apr 5, 2015 10:37 AM - Les Hall: will have to buy a nozzle kit in the future
Apr 5, 2015 10:37 AM - Wikid: which if i had an E3d I wouldnt mind so much as you could just get a new nozzle not sure how easy it is on the hexagon
Apr 5, 2015 10:38 AM - Les Hall: it's fairly easy on the hexagon, i've done it
Apr 5, 2015 10:38 AM - Les Hall: on my robo
    Apr 5, 2015 10:38 AM - Wikid: ah ok
Apr 5, 2015 10:38 AM - Les Hall: you need the right tools though
    Apr 5, 2015 10:39 AM - Wikid: thats not a problem
Apr 5, 2015 10:39 AM - Les Hall: then it should go well
    Apr 5, 2015 10:40 AM - Les Hall: brb
    Apr 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Les Hall: back
Apr 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Les Hall: i'm printing on my Printrbot these days
Apr 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Les Hall: simple metal
Apr 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Les Hall: have to send the robot to Mike for repair
Apr 5, 2015 10:42 AM - Les Hall: well, rebuild
Apr 5, 2015 10:44 AM - Wikid: I need to install my new Z rod couplers and replace a Z smooth rod mount
Apr 5, 2015 10:45 AM - Les Hall: did they fail?
Apr 5, 2015 10:45 AM - Wikid: the HC suck and I have spider/lovejoy couplers the Smooth rod mount was broken
    Apr 5, 2015 10:45 AM - Wikid: well cracked
    Apr 5, 2015 10:46 AM - Les Hall: oh
Apr 5, 2015 10:46 AM - Wikid: They sent me new ones but Im debating if i want to print some more rigid ones
Apr 5, 2015 10:46 AM - Les Hall: so many things can go wrong
    Apr 5, 2015 10:46 AM - Wikid: yea

Apr 5, 2015 10:47 AM - Wikid: I get lines on the sides of my parts that look like ribbing but when you look down the side of the part you cant see any ripples so not sure whats causing it.
Apr 5, 2015 10:48 AM - Les Hall: i dunno lots of people get lines tho
Apr 5, 2015 10:49 AM - Les Hall: i tell you this printrbot is a clean machine
Apr 5, 2015 10:49 AM - Les Hall: but it has no heated bed and small build size
Apr 5, 2015 10:50 AM - Wikid: I modded my robo to remove the Z axis from affecting the Carriage. So far it works really well
    Apr 5, 2015 10:53 AM - Les Hall: that's good
Apr 5, 2015 10:53 AM - Les Hall: i'm going to try building electronic LED test fixtures with the PLAdium and the carbon Fiber PLA
    Apr 5, 2015 10:53 AM - Wikid: Cool
Apr 5, 2015 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: Using S3D the first layer looks better than it has in a while. Damn slic3r
Apr 5, 2015 10:54 AM - Les Hall: I have some ideas for making an optical beam
Apr 5, 2015 10:54 AM - Wikid: Hehe my first layer actually looks worse than it did in cura
    Apr 5, 2015 10:54 AM - Les Hall: I use Cura
    Apr 5, 2015 10:54 AM - Les Hall: oh
Apr 5, 2015 10:55 AM - Wikid: Cura would do a taller first layer and I just squished it down. Havent figured out how to do the same thing with S3D
    Apr 5, 2015 10:55 AM - Les Hall: ah
    Apr 5, 2015 10:56 AM - Les Hall: i use glue stick
Apr 5, 2015 10:56 AM - Les Hall: because the bed is metal
Apr 5, 2015 10:57 AM - Les Hall: i'm looking forward to the PLAdium, clear PLA with no yellowing and quick print times yay!
Apr 5, 2015 10:58 AM - Wikid: I cant stand glue stick, such a pain to clean off. And for some reason the hairspray I have tried it doesnt want to stick to
Apr 5, 2015 11:00 AM - Les Hall: what do you use then?
Apr 5, 2015 11:03 AM - dbvanhorn: Aqua Net Extra Super Hold here, purple can. I dust it from about a foot.
Apr 5, 2015 11:03 AM - dbvanhorn: The prints hold on so well I'm afraid I'll break the glass if I try to pull them off hot, and when they cool, they pop loose almost 100%.
    Apr 5, 2015 11:04 AM - dbvanhorn: Inland PLA printing on a 70c bed
Apr 5, 2015 11:04 AM - Les Hall: that's what i use on my robo
Apr 5, 2015 11:05 AM - dbvanhorn: I could not ask for better that what I get from that combo.
Apr 5, 2015 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: Cura was giving me tons of issues with my z offset
Apr 5, 2015 11:09 AM - Wikid: hmm I didnt have many issues with the z offset
Apr 5, 2015 11:09 AM - Wikid: Been using painters tape
Apr 5, 2015 11:09 AM - Wikid: Ill have to see if I can track down that hairspray seems to be the go to
Apr 5, 2015 11:09 AM - Les Hall: painter's tape works good too
Apr 5, 2015 11:10 AM - Les Hall: but it gets old fast
Apr 5, 2015 11:13 AM - Wikid: only issue i have with it is that it can be a pain to lay it down on the back of the build plate as the head gets in the way and i hate moving the machine around
Apr 5, 2015 11:15 AM - Wikid: well im off
Apr 5, 2015 11:16 AM - dbvanhorn: Pretty sure I got it at Walmart
Apr 5, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Glass: I have been printing pla all day and havent used any adhesive, this JustPla is awesome.
Apr 5, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Glass: key is to wipe it down with Denatured Alcohol first.
Apr 5, 2015 11:41 AM - jbigler1986: walgreens and cvs have the hairspray
    Apr 5, 2015 11:43 AM - dbvanhorn: UPC is 067990600115
Apr 5, 2015 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: where is the option to change print speed in S3D
    Apr 5, 2015 11:45 AM - Mike Glass: ?
    Apr 5, 2015 11:46 AM - jbigler1986: to slow it down
Apr 5, 2015 11:46 AM - Mike Glass: while it is running?
    Apr 5, 2015 11:46 AM - jbigler1986: no. before
Apr 5, 2015 11:47 AM - Mike Glass: on the other tab
    Apr 5, 2015 11:47 AM - jbigler1986: what is it multiplied by?
    Apr 5, 2015 11:47 AM - jbigler1986: 60?
    Apr 5, 2015 11:48 AM - jbigler1986: that makes sense if true
Apr 5, 2015 11:48 AM - Mike Glass: not sure, I havent messed with that, I just adjust the speed from the LCD
    Apr 5, 2015 11:48 AM - mark tomlinson: S3D does MM/MIN most do MM/SEC
    Apr 5, 2015 11:49 AM - jbigler1986: so just multiply by 60. easy enough
    Apr 5, 2015 11:49 AM - mark tomlinson: yep
    Apr 5, 2015 11:49 AM - jbigler1986: x/y and z movement speed leave defauly?
    Apr 5, 2015 11:49 AM - jbigler1986: default*
Apr 5, 2015 11:51 AM - mark tomlinson: That is non-print movement. Your call
    Apr 5, 2015 11:52 AM - jbigler1986: oh. so doesn't really matter then
Apr 5, 2015 12:31 PM - dbvanhorn: Question: What can I do to reduce the spread at the bottom of the print? I don't want to impact the bed adhesion much, but I would like to get closer to vertical walls on things that are supposed to be vertical.
Apr 5, 2015 12:31 PM - dbvanhorn: I've been filing the parts to square them up, but that gets tedious.
Apr 5, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Glass: use brim
Apr 5, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Glass: Are these parts you are creating?
Apr 5, 2015 12:33 PM - dbvanhorn: Yes. I thought about tapering them in a bit, but I'm not that good with OpenScad yet.
Apr 5, 2015 12:34 PM - dbvanhorn: Plus I want to get my process as accurate as practical
Apr 5, 2015 12:34 PM - Mike Glass: chamfer is what I use it makes it so no elephants foot
Apr 5, 2015 12:35 PM - Mike Glass: maybe also changing your first layer width
Apr 5, 2015 12:35 PM - dbvanhorn: Is "brim" a setting somewhere? I currently use 3 loops of skirt, at 0.6mm
Apr 5, 2015 12:35 PM - Mike Glass: yes it is like raft, but not an option in MC
Apr 5, 2015 12:36 PM - dbvanhorn: Is chamfer something at design time, or a printer setting?
Apr 5, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Glass: Design time
    Apr 5, 2015 12:36 PM - dbvanhorn: Ok, I understand.
Apr 5, 2015 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: what do you design in
Apr 5, 2015 12:37 PM - dbvanhorn: My first layer height is set to 0.294mm and layer height is 0.098
    Apr 5, 2015 12:37 PM - dbvanhorn: OpenScad
Apr 5, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: not sure if I have tried that one
Apr 5, 2015 12:38 PM - dbvanhorn: It's good for parametric oriented parts. Exact dimensions, constructive and subtractive geometry.
Apr 5, 2015 12:39 PM - dbvanhorn: Most of my current parts are a "cube" (slab actually) with holes subtracted in various places.
Apr 5, 2015 12:39 PM - dbvanhorn: The holes end up a tad small, but a drill makes quick work of that.
Apr 5, 2015 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: Ive always used SW or Cad, but getting more into Blender for meshes.
Apr 5, 2015 12:40 PM - dbvanhorn: Yeah. The mech guys at work use SW, but I'm an electronics guy so I don't get a seat.
Apr 5, 2015 12:40 PM - dbvanhorn: I get XfDTD and Altium instead.
Apr 5, 2015 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: Not that I did alot before I got a 3d printer, but now it seems I'm making something everyday.
Apr 5, 2015 12:43 PM - dbvanhorn: Sw is a bit pricey for hobby use.
Apr 5, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Glass: I do most of my hobby work with wood, I have a small cnc I do signs with, but now im building a multi-tool cnc to cut anything.
Apr 5, 2015 12:45 PM - Mike Glass: or even add a printer head to it.
    Apr 5, 2015 12:45 PM - dbvanhorn: I heard.. :)
Apr 5, 2015 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: Ordered the last pieces today, so getting excited to get this working.
Apr 5, 2015 12:47 PM - dbvanhorn: At the moment, the hobby projects are high voltage related, a spark gap tester, and a calibration fixture for that. The 3DP parts end up costing me less, and they are exactly what I want, and they look WAY cooler than off the shelf hardware.
Apr 5, 2015 12:47 PM - dbvanhorn: It's an amazing time to be alive. Kinda like the days of Gutenberg, or early automobiles.
    Apr 5, 2015 12:48 PM - dbvanhorn: Disruptive technologies.
Apr 5, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: Is that what our wifes are calling it..lol
Apr 5, 2015 12:49 PM - dbvanhorn: I love that the printer can sit here and get things done while I am spending quality time, or sleeping. It's a force multiplier as the army would say.
Apr 5, 2015 12:50 PM - jbigler1986: Printing feet for the robo right now
    Apr 5, 2015 12:50 PM - dbvanhorn: I did a set a while back, they fit great.
Apr 5, 2015 12:50 PM - Mike Glass: Why would you do that, she may walk away from you then JB.
    Apr 5, 2015 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: Lol. I have her chained. She isn't going anywhere. Lol
    Apr 5, 2015 12:52 PM - dbvanhorn: These ones: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:217346 ?
Apr 5, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Glass: Is it true you knocked out the O in robo in the front for well meaningful play time..lol
    Apr 5, 2015 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah those ones
Apr 5, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: Wish I would of had those before the screws fucked up my countertops.
Apr 5, 2015 12:55 PM - dbvanhorn: I wish we could print those in Sorbothane. Now THAT would be impressive.
Apr 5, 2015 12:56 PM - dbvanhorn: Printers in bondage.. Hmm.

    Apr 5, 2015 12:56 PM - dbvanhorn: And she's only wearing shoes.
Apr 5, 2015 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: Printer sounds like crap doing infill. Perimeters sound good. Any ideas
    Apr 5, 2015 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: Is it the speed different
    Apr 5, 2015 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: Difference?
Apr 5, 2015 12:57 PM - dbvanhorn: Some infill for me is more of a vibration than a hum, perimiters play a little tune on circles.
Apr 5, 2015 12:59 PM - dbvanhorn: Nothing happening here sounds bad in any way. The clicking that I had on filament retract went away by itself.
Apr 5, 2015 12:59 PM - dbvanhorn: JB: What sounds bad about it?
Apr 5, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: Probably different speed, different slicer?
    Apr 5, 2015 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: Let me upload the video
Apr 5, 2015 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: Sorry if you can hear my kids in it
    Apr 5, 2015 1:10 PM - jbigler1986:
Apr 5, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Glass: sounds like your threaded rods are rattling, mine do that quite often, but just depends on the part.
Apr 5, 2015 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: Just never heard it that bad
Apr 5, 2015 1:19 PM - dbvanhorn: I've had the tops of the rods bounce against the case, but that sounds way worse than what I had.
    Apr 5, 2015 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: Lubed up the x rods and it's better
    Apr 5, 2015 3:58 PM - Mike Kelly: ohey
Apr 5, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: been working on stuff all day, i'm beat
Apr 5, 2015 4:18 PM - Mike Kelly: stupid printer...
    Apr 5, 2015 4:18 PM - Wikid: I know the feeling
    Apr 5, 2015 4:20 PM - TechSupportGo: ello
Apr 5, 2015 4:22 PM - Wikid: just spent the morning getting those darn healical couplers off, bolts stripped out
Apr 5, 2015 4:45 PM - jbigler1986: I'm going to be ripping mine apart in like an hour for the linear steppers tomorrow
Apr 5, 2015 4:48 PM - jbigler1986: Not sure how far I will get though. 6 hour drive killed me
Apr 5, 2015 4:52 PM - Wikid: what are you doing to the motors?
Apr 5, 2015 4:59 PM - Mike Kelly: man wtf is wrong with my wipe and prime tower
Apr 5, 2015 5:03 PM - Printed Solid: mike, off the top of your head. Esteps /mm =723...
    Apr 5, 2015 5:03 PM - Printed Solid: 5/16?
    Apr 5, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Kelly: E steps?
    Apr 5, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Kelly: or Z steps?
    Apr 5, 2015 5:05 PM - Mike Kelly: Z is 2267.72
    Apr 5, 2015 5:05 PM - Printed Solid: woops
    Apr 5, 2015 5:05 PM - Printed Solid: 2267.72
Apr 5, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: yeah. so this one shipped with the wrong firmware then.
Apr 5, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: they're only shipping 8mm rods now, right?
    Apr 5, 2015 5:06 PM - Mike Kelly: *shrugs*
Apr 5, 2015 5:06 PM - Mike Kelly: i wasn't able to get a definitive yes on that
Apr 5, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: ugh. these rods actually look like 5/16.
Apr 5, 2015 5:06 PM - Printed Solid: out comes the ruler.
Apr 5, 2015 5:07 PM - Printed Solid: at least I can count to 18
    Apr 5, 2015 5:08 PM - Printed Solid: 8mm
Apr 5, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: Installing linear steppers. No more coupler
Apr 5, 2015 5:10 PM - Printed Solid: good call.
Apr 5, 2015 5:14 PM - jbigler1986: Having to relevel ever print because the left side seemed to slip pushed me to getting them
Apr 5, 2015 5:17 PM - Printed Solid: It can be annoying to spend $$ on things like that, but so worth it.
Apr 5, 2015 5:18 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. I figured once I get everything installed that should be it. I shouldn't need anything else
    Apr 5, 2015 5:19 PM - jbigler1986: "should" be running like a champ
Apr 5, 2015 5:19 PM - jbigler1986: Hopefully my wiring is plug and play. Don't want to have to mess with that
Apr 5, 2015 5:20 PM - Printed Solid: right. well, I'm getting ready to embark on shipping a Robo3D for the first time ever. Just finished testing it. Fingers crossed that Fedex doesn't play soccer with it!
Apr 5, 2015 5:28 PM - Mike Glass: Ps all robo have the wrong firmware loaded, from what ive heard.
Apr 5, 2015 5:35 PM - Printed Solid: I knew they had a batch go out like that, but thought it was fixed on this most recent shipment.
Apr 5, 2015 5:35 PM - Printed Solid: Guess not.
Apr 5, 2015 5:39 PM - Mike Glass: QC not fixed yet.
Apr 5, 2015 5:39 PM - Mike Glass: What was the serial?
Apr 5, 2015 5:43 PM - Printed Solid: It's all boxed up now, but it was from the (I believe) February shipment.
Apr 5, 2015 5:43 PM - Printed Solid: Direct from Robo
    Apr 5, 2015 5:47 PM - jbigler1986: I would hope it's fixed.
Apr 5, 2015 5:47 PM - jbigler1986: Did you ship that baby for free too? I would hope not
Apr 5, 2015 5:50 PM - Printed Solid: yeah, this guy is getting away with a ridiculous deal. Website says "LOCAL ONLY" pretty clearly, but I still get orders from far away frequently.
Apr 5, 2015 5:50 PM - Printed Solid: Usually I just refund the order and tell them I don't ship, but I figure, what the heck, I'll try it and then start charging shipping if it's not too much of a nightmare
Apr 5, 2015 5:52 PM - jbigler1986: As long as you are still making money on it.
Apr 5, 2015 5:54 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah at my work we use FedEx a lot and lots of our stuff gets damaged. They are pretty brutal
Apr 5, 2015 5:58 PM - Printed Solid: yup. Same with me receiving fedex. colorfabb uses these straps around the boxes and it's pretty clear that fedex uses them as handles to whip stuff around.
Apr 5, 2015 6:09 PM - jbigler1986: Ups is actually cheaper for higher weight and bigger packages
Apr 5, 2015 6:10 PM - jbigler1986: We never have any issues with them. Plus FedEx "loses" a lot of stuff
Apr 5, 2015 6:14 PM - Printed Solid: I'll check, but I've found fedex cheaper in pretty much all cases. At my day job, we've had just as many issues with both.
Apr 5, 2015 6:14 PM - Printed Solid: The thing that really annoys me is when they bust open a box, rebox, then claim that they didn't do it.
Apr 5, 2015 6:22 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. We had FedEx for years. Just recently had weeks of meetings with Ups and have come to find out they are about 4 percent cheaper. That adds up when shipping hundreds of items from 2 pounds to 50 pounds a day
Apr 5, 2015 7:38 PM - Bradf80: Having an issue printing with PLA. The printer is working fine, but the plastic seems to be not cooling fast enough and is curling a little bit. Should I lower the temps a little, or put a fan on the project?
Apr 5, 2015 7:51 PM - jbigler1986: Do you have fans off for PLA?
Apr 5, 2015 7:52 PM - jbigler1986: Fans should always be on for PLA and what temp are you running it at?
    Apr 5, 2015 7:53 PM - jbigler1986: except for maybe the first 1 or 2 layers
    Apr 5, 2015 7:59 PM - jbigler1986: I run PLA at 195.
    Apr 5, 2015 7:59 PM - jbigler1986: bed temp at 45
    Apr 5, 2015 8:00 PM - Bradf80: fans are always on
    Apr 5, 2015 8:00 PM - Bradf80: I just dropped the temps
    Apr 5, 2015 8:00 PM - Bradf80: i was using stock which was 210
Apr 5, 2015 8:01 PM - Bradf80: but I was getting a lot of oozing, so I lowered it until the oozing was at a crawl which is 195 lol
Apr 5, 2015 8:10 PM - Mike Glass: may layers dont stick if I go that low.
Apr 5, 2015 8:28 PM - Mike Kelly: man my wipe and prime towers look like literal poop
    Apr 5, 2015 8:29 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/5sLXhF8.jpg
Apr 5, 2015 8:40 PM - Mike Glass: haha eww
Apr 5, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: keeps ruining prints, really annoying
    Apr 5, 2015 8:59 PM - Bradf80: haha wow
Apr 5, 2015 9:00 PM - Bradf80: What would make the Print head drag in the project?
Apr 5, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Glass: its a wipe and prime tower for his dual color extruder

    Apr 6, 2015 3:11 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
Apr 6, 2015 5:20 AM - jbigler1986: So my ramps fan was barely plugged in. It would turn on for a few then off due to it barely making contact with the pins. I fixed that and ran one of the 3DS game boxes that I tried to print like 10 times. It printed perfectly. May have solved my issues. Going to hold off on installing the linear steppers. Going to print a few taller parts and test first.
    Apr 6, 2015 6:07 AM - JeffTheMess: morning...ah I had that same problem..told you to check that
Apr 6, 2015 6:07 AM - JeffTheMess: glad you fixed it
Apr 6, 2015 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: Well I was very gentle this time taking the bottom cover off. That's how I spotted it. Printing that skylanders guy again now. Looks like the computer froze with the cam connected to it. Can't watch it
    Apr 6, 2015 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: Oh well.
Apr 6, 2015 6:15 AM - JeffTheMess: you print of an sd card so you should be fine
Apr 6, 2015 6:16 AM - mark tomlinson: This is how I did mine: Can't fall off
    Apr 6, 2015 6:16 AM - mark tomlinson: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...-out-using-relay-switch.1300/page-2#post-9068
Apr 6, 2015 6:17 AM - mark tomlinson: But that was before Robo was preinstalling fans
Apr 6, 2015 6:17 AM - mark tomlinson: They really should have done a better job mounting them.
Apr 6, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: Mine is attached to the bottom cover. I think when putting the cover back on I was pulling the connector off a little.
Apr 6, 2015 6:18 AM - mark tomlinson: The ones that attached to the back cover are better, but a little small IMHO
Apr 6, 2015 6:18 AM - mark tomlinson: and teh wire is a little short :)
Apr 6, 2015 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: Yes the wire is short. I may just extend the wire.
    Apr 6, 2015 6:19 AM - JeffTheMess: *Dat fan* though...really nice
Apr 6, 2015 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: Seems like the forums went crazy the last few days while I was gone.
Apr 6, 2015 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: how much is there between the board and the front shell?
    Apr 6, 2015 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: space wise
    Apr 6, 2015 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: I decent amount I believe. Didn't really look honestly.
    Apr 6, 2015 6:23 AM - mark tomlinson: 1 inch or so
Apr 6, 2015 6:24 AM - JeffTheMess: I have a bulky 27vdc fan i want to use to cool the ramps overkill yes but i dont want similar problems with overheating board
Apr 6, 2015 6:24 AM - mark tomlinson: That was a standard 3" dc fan
Apr 6, 2015 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: I would just install a bigger fan like Barnacules did to his.
    Apr 6, 2015 6:24 AM - JeffTheMess: very nice i love that
    Apr 6, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:580844
Apr 6, 2015 6:29 AM - jbigler1986: there are lots of mounts for 40mm. If you are going to upgrade I would do the 60mm
Apr 6, 2015 6:31 AM - JeffTheMess: i think its a 60 mm but just really thick about 2.5 inches almost 2 amps to run it
    Apr 6, 2015 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: Print these http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:217346
Apr 6, 2015 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: then you won't have an issue installing that fan
Apr 6, 2015 6:35 AM - JeffTheMess: nice, you got these on yours?
Apr 6, 2015 6:37 AM - JeffTheMess: I wonder if there's anything better than pololu ramps
Apr 6, 2015 6:37 AM - jbigler1986: Just added them last night. They give a nice amount of space under the robo now. Before the bottom cover was almost sitting flat on the stand I have it on
    Apr 6, 2015 6:37 AM - JeffTheMess: 100% infill
    Apr 6, 2015 6:37 AM - JeffTheMess: ?
    Apr 6, 2015 6:37 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:126919
    Apr 6, 2015 6:37 AM - jbigler1986: See the space under there
    Apr 6, 2015 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: I did 40%. I used my .6 nozzle so parts are strong with that
Apr 6, 2015 6:38 AM - JeffTheMess: its a good amount of space
    Apr 6, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: Soobie-doobie-dooo
Apr 6, 2015 6:41 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey Bill hows it going
Apr 6, 2015 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: very well, thank you, and you?
Apr 6, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: just started an 8 hour print
Apr 6, 2015 6:42 AM - JeffTheMess: awesome, can we see the glory you are going?
    Apr 6, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: sure, but it's just started... http://vaughnlive.tv/socalplanedoc
Apr 6, 2015 6:43 AM - jbigler1986: I envy how clean your print bed is. I should probably clean mine soon.
Apr 6, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: brb now that the sun is up I gotta turn off the irrigation before the neighborhood vigilantes turn me in
    Apr 6, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: natural color I see
    Apr 6, 2015 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: Or black. I can't tell now
    Apr 6, 2015 6:48 AM - JeffTheMess: black i think
    Apr 6, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: black PLA/PHA from printedsolid.com
    Apr 6, 2015 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: What are you printing
Apr 6, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: new carriage design for dual extruders
    Apr 6, 2015 6:57 AM - jbigler1986: Which extruders do you have
    Apr 6, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: E3D-V6
Apr 6, 2015 7:00 AM - jbigler1986: nice. What bearing do you suggest for the carriage
Apr 6, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: any will do, the trick is conditioning them before you use them
Apr 6, 2015 7:01 AM - Bill Monroe: my lat carriage had those ultra cheap-o unit off amazon, after conditoneing them they work MUCH better than the robo units
Apr 6, 2015 7:10 AM - JeffTheMess: Hopefully soon enough I can break my robo virginity and change to a e3d v6
Apr 6, 2015 7:11 AM - Bill Monroe: what do you have now?
Apr 6, 2015 7:11 AM - JeffTheMess: whatever the stock R1 came with
Apr 6, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: when did you get it?
Apr 6, 2015 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: how long have you had it
    Apr 6, 2015 7:12 AM - JeffTheMess: nov2014
    Apr 6, 2015 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: Hex
Apr 6, 2015 7:12 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. hexagon.. I dont think you'll see that much benefit changing to the V6
Apr 6, 2015 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: my hexagon workd flawlessly
Apr 6, 2015 7:13 AM - JeffTheMess: really...does the v6 help with overhangs or not really?
Apr 6, 2015 7:14 AM - jbigler1986: easier to fix and use filament that has a bigger diameter
Apr 6, 2015 7:14 AM - Bill Monroe: honestly, I've not seen any imrovment at all, but I hear it's better with flexible stuff
Apr 6, 2015 7:14 AM - Bill Monroe: I make parts for machines, little parts so maybe it's not better at that
Apr 6, 2015 7:15 AM - Bill Monroe: if you're gunna make monster head or other such nonsense, they might be better
Apr 6, 2015 7:15 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah I would RARELY print with flexible...I just want better ways for support and overhangs
Apr 6, 2015 7:15 AM - Bill Monroe: i tend to make small complicated parts..
Apr 6, 2015 7:16 AM - JeffTheMess: I printed two parts for my quad and the overhangs were kind of bad I thought stupid mattercontrol would have seen that and put support there
Apr 6, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. i stopped using MC a few days after I got the machine
    Apr 6, 2015 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: I just got S3D. I need to tweak it. Layers aren't adhering with it.
    Apr 6, 2015 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: I haven't used MC in a while either
Apr 6, 2015 7:19 AM - JeffTheMess: I heard s3d has similar support config as meshmixer, any truth to that?
Apr 6, 2015 7:21 AM - jbigler1986: No clue. I literally got my offset set with it and started 2 prints and stopped them after some layers weren't adhering. Haven't messed with it anymore than that yet
Apr 6, 2015 7:24 AM - Bill Monroe: dont know meshmixer but S3D does have excellent support choices
Apr 6, 2015 7:25 AM - Bill Monroe: you can edit that autogenerated ones, or do them comletely manually too.. it's all in the online manuals
Apr 6, 2015 7:26 AM - Bill Monroe: I was already using it with my other machine so I stuck with it.. just tried out MC since it came with the robo
    Apr 6, 2015 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Apr 6, 2015 7:28 AM - jbigler1986: morning
    Apr 6, 2015 7:29 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
Apr 6, 2015 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: this is a beautiful example of what s3d does
Apr 6, 2015 7:35 AM - Bill Monroe: that isnt all S3D.. that also takes a machine that's dialed-in for bridging
    Apr 6, 2015 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: ^
Apr 6, 2015 7:38 AM - jbigler1986: I would just add more support and not have to worry about it
Apr 6, 2015 7:39 AM - JeffTheMess: I'm trying to figure out ways to add less support lol....any ideas for overhang speed should it go slower? or it does matter much?
Apr 6, 2015 7:42 AM - jbigler1986: I think overhangs slower and bridging faster. But honestly that would be a MK or Bill question since I'm fairly new to this as well
Apr 6, 2015 7:44 AM - JeffTheMess: I assume with your dual fans on the extruder overhangs can become a bit easier to handle
Apr 6, 2015 7:47 AM - Bill Monroe: ive not messed with bridging much but Imagine running the extruder on the cooler side and moving the head on the faster side is what you'd want to shoot for
    Apr 6, 2015 7:47 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
Apr 6, 2015 7:48 AM - Bill Monroe: I do wich that S3D had the hexagon pattern like Slic3r has, or some other intesting choice
    Apr 6, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: wich=wish
Apr 6, 2015 7:49 AM - JeffTheMess: I'd rather avoid bridge from the get go, overhangs can tend to be unavoidable at times unless you're a really go designer
Apr 6, 2015 7:50 AM - Bill Monroe: agreed, I do everything I can to avoid supports of any kind altogether but sometimes can avoid it
    Apr 6, 2015 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: good* designer

Apr 6, 2015 7:51 AM - Bill Monroe: that's why I want the second nozzle. for peel-able supports
Apr 6, 2015 7:52 AM - jbigler1986: The Up sofware that I used with my Up printer had awesome support
Apr 6, 2015 7:53 AM - JeffTheMess: I really didn't want to go as far as designing in the support myself, but I don't know the max angle the stock robo can handle
    Apr 6, 2015 7:54 AM - jbigler1986:
Apr 6, 2015 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: its not the robo.. it's the filament, temps and how you setup the slicer
Apr 6, 2015 7:55 AM - JeffTheMess: wow didnt have to use pliers
Apr 6, 2015 7:55 AM - Printed Solid: peek at the inmoov robot on thingiverse for a really great example of designed in supports.
Apr 6, 2015 7:56 AM - Printed Solid: also: I second what Bill says in general, although cooling design (which is printer unless you've modded it) also has a huge factor
Apr 6, 2015 7:56 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah the parts I printed on mine the support came over very easily. The build platform was just to small on the Up Mini for me
Apr 6, 2015 7:57 AM - Bill Monroe: Hi Matt
Apr 6, 2015 7:58 AM - JeffTheMess: MG recommended "JustPLA" brand of filament, I guess it doesn't matter which you use but how you use it

Apr 6, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: That was on my Up Mini
    Apr 6, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Kelly: nice

    Apr 6, 2015 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: Can't really see individual layers at all
    Apr 6, 2015 8:04 AM - jbigler1986: at .2 height (that's the lowest it will go)
Apr 6, 2015 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: lol serious?
    Apr 6, 2015 8:04 AM - jbigler1986: yep
Apr 6, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: freaking affinia
    Apr 6, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: The parts look amazing I must say
    Apr 6, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: But closed source I'm not a big fan of
Apr 6, 2015 8:09 AM - JeffTheMess: the pic you cant see layers, thats good
    Apr 6, 2015 8:10 AM - JeffTheMess:
Apr 6, 2015 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: I don't expect to get that quality out of the robo. Just looking for reliable good quality prints is all. Working on it still
    Apr 6, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: Linear steppers have arrived
    Apr 6, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: fun
Apr 6, 2015 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: Gonna see how my current print turns out before I install them since I fixed the ramps overheating. Damn fan connector
Apr 6, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: my manager can't seem to figure out how to print 11x17
    Apr 6, 2015 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: ?
Apr 6, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: dashed lines on our P&ID aren't showing up when printing at 8.5x11 because the drawing sheet size is 11x17
Apr 6, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: and he can't figure out how to actually print at 11x17
    Apr 6, 2015 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: gotcha. Don't have a printer capable of that size there?
Apr 6, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: no we do
Apr 6, 2015 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: Are you asking for help or laughing at him?
    Apr 6, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: laughing
Apr 6, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: apparently he was selecting "fit to page"and that was shrinking it down to 8.5x11 even though he selected page size of 11x17
Apr 6, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: Lol. How many failed attempts did he have
Apr 6, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: he just came by with #3 and it didn't print the dashed lines again
Apr 6, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i just sent it to the printer
    Apr 6, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Apr 6, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: ok it didn't work for me either, but the last time it did, wtf m8
    Apr 6, 2015 8:42 AM - jbigler1986: hmm
Apr 6, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: apparently PDF does not like dashed lines
    Apr 6, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly:
    Apr 6, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: *shudders*
Apr 6, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i feel sorry for whoever backed this
    Apr 6, 2015 9:06 AM - jbigler1986: how big is that? Can't tell
Apr 6, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: "Ignore the issues, it'll be totally cool, trust us"
Apr 6, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: *is college students*
Apr 6, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: probably like 50mm diameter, maybe less
    Apr 6, 2015 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: quality did not look good
Apr 6, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: no it does not
Apr 6, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: nothing about that kickstartr looks good
Apr 6, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: people are such suckers for price tag
Apr 6, 2015 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: waste of $179. I will use that on my robo to make it amazing
Apr 6, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yup, but for someone who's never had a 3d printer they think it's a great deal
Apr 6, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: shame because it's so poor and there's no way they have the funds to support it once it's in the wild
Apr 6, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: and people used to complain about robo's tech support, i can't imagine how bad tiko's is going to be
Apr 6, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: not my problem i guess, still makes me feel bad
Apr 6, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: like watching a car accident and not being able to stop it
    Apr 6, 2015 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: question for you
Apr 6, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: do I use the nut that the autolevel switch is attached to on these steppers or do I use the circle nut that it came with
    Apr 6, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JTSEFQY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    Apr 6, 2015 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: Print this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:370703
Apr 6, 2015 9:20 AM - JeffTheMess: how many of those steppers are needed just two right
    Apr 6, 2015 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Apr 6, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: Ok. So print the tall hex from don and the ring with the 3 knobs. The nut that came with the stepper goes inside the tall hex one that I print. Does that sound right? Then attach the autolevel switch to the hex I printed as well

Apr 6, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: This is was my first printer..lol
Apr 6, 2015 9:45 AM - jbigler1986: I saw that you can make one from a bunch of cdroms and stuff. The total price was like $80
Apr 6, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Glass: Hey JB, did you relize the steppers you got are 257mm for the rod size not 300?
Apr 6, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i wanna try to make a cd rom printer
Apr 6, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Glass: I have a box if them, I tore a bunch apart this weekend, you can also make a laser cutter from them.
    Apr 6, 2015 9:50 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
    Apr 6, 2015 9:51 AM - jbigler1986: What MG?
Apr 6, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: I need to find a blueray one though
Apr 6, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: The steppers, are only 257MM, did you measure them?
Apr 6, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Glass: They are advertised as 300, but thats the overall size not the threaded rod size.
Apr 6, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: I'm going to lose a little bit of z. Not to worried though as I have yet to print a really tall object yet

Apr 6, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: I just was reading the reviews and that is one complaint they had, ya only 60mm you will lose over stock.
Apr 6, 2015 9:56 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I can always scale/cut/rotate stuff to make it work if needed. I would have yet to have an issue though
Apr 6, 2015 9:56 AM - jbigler1986: I'm going to lose about a half an inch or so
Apr 6, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Glass: um more than that
Apr 6, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: alright seriously, who's thing is in the microwave
Apr 6, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Glass: um, Not mine
    Apr 6, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Glass: <beep>

    Apr 6, 2015 10:04 AM - jbigler1986: I'm sure some do
Apr 6, 2015 10:05 AM - JeffTheMess: broken it must be
Apr 6, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Glass: Mike how big are the threaded rods, 12" right?
    Apr 6, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Apr 6, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i needed to microwave my coffee, the thing that was in there... a cup of water
    Apr 6, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: wtc
Apr 6, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: Good, I can use the extra one I have on the Bobcat.
Apr 6, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Glass: wow 66 downloads so far, for the Tool holder.
    Apr 6, 2015 10:20 AM - jbigler1986: 58 of those were me

Apr 6, 2015 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: so am I going to lose more than about half an inch of z height? Hmmm
Apr 6, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Glass: 3" doing the math, but you need to measure them to find out for sure.
    Apr 6, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Glass: er 2.75"
Apr 6, 2015 10:25 AM - jbigler1986: well from the top of the nut to the top of the threads it's just under 9 1/2 inches
Apr 6, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Glass: so your robo is 13"
    Apr 6, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Glass: total
Apr 6, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: what is this inches nonsense
Apr 6, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Glass: Measure from the base.. lol
Apr 6, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Glass: 330 mm is the robo
Apr 6, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Glass: with the HC of course
    Apr 6, 2015 10:28 AM - jbigler1986: how much is usuable?
Apr 6, 2015 10:30 AM - jbigler1986: Build height is about 8 inches on the Robo right?
    Apr 6, 2015 10:30 AM - JeffTheMess: yup
Apr 6, 2015 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: So yeah losing about a half inch sounds right
Apr 6, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: so what is the total size though of the threads?
Apr 6, 2015 10:33 AM - jbigler1986: about 10 1/8th from the start of the threads to the end of the threads
Apr 6, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: so 2.75" difference betweeen the two
Apr 6, 2015 10:34 AM - jbigler1986: You have to subtract the HC height though
Apr 6, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: yep did
Apr 6, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: 13" total for the hc and rod
Apr 6, 2015 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: why is build height only 8 inches then?
Apr 6, 2015 10:41 AM - Mike Glass: depends where your bed height would be.
Apr 6, 2015 10:41 AM - Mike Glass: your steppers sit way lower then the bed
Apr 6, 2015 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Stephen said it was only about half an inch lost. So there is a mixup somewhere
    Apr 6, 2015 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: He had them installed too
Apr 6, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Glass: I was told to get those 330-350 linear steppers if I wanted to retain height.
Apr 6, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Glass: He bought the exact same ones?
    Apr 6, 2015 10:43 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah that's what he said. I posted the link
Apr 6, 2015 10:44 AM - Mike Glass: Maybe he was just saying that he bought those type?
Apr 6, 2015 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: Pretty sure that he got the exact ones
Apr 6, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: use my robo3d model to see how they fit
Apr 6, 2015 10:51 AM - JeffTheMess: where can i find that model?
    Apr 6, 2015 10:54 AM - JeffTheMess: got it thanks :)
Apr 6, 2015 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: I get that it sits lower. There will be about an inch or so that won't be usable due to the nozzle hitting the bed. So that would be about give or take a little. So 7 1/2 inches seems right unless I am completely missing something
Apr 6, 2015 10:58 AM - JeffTheMess: if you know you will never print that high it shouldn't matter
    Apr 6, 2015 10:58 AM - JeffTheMess: right?
Apr 6, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Glass: sliceNglue, hey new product idea..lol
    Apr 6, 2015 10:59 AM - jbigler1986: I won't go above 7 i don't think
Apr 6, 2015 10:59 AM - Mike Glass: you wont anymore at least..lol
    Apr 6, 2015 10:59 AM - jbigler1986: lol
    Apr 6, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:596487
    Apr 6, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: that's the tallest thing I have printed so far
    Apr 6, 2015 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: I don't remember If i had to scale it or not
    Apr 6, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:618222 thats the one I did.
Apr 6, 2015 11:01 AM - JeffTheMess: if you are printing bigger you can also "cut" a stl file in half
    Apr 6, 2015 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: never
Apr 6, 2015 11:02 AM - Mike Glass: yea try that with vase mode. and I do alot of those.
    Apr 6, 2015 11:03 AM - JeffTheMess: where's your adventure in things
    Apr 6, 2015 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: I think I tried vase mode once
Apr 6, 2015 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: Didn't work. So I just set top layers to 0 and don't remember the other setting
Apr 6, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: "Maybe if I close and reopen all my websites something new will appear" "Nope" "Maybe if I close and open all my websites something new will appear"
Apr 6, 2015 11:27 AM - toy: mike do u have any preference on limit switches?
    Apr 6, 2015 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: hello there Matt
Apr 6, 2015 11:49 AM - jbigler1986: Is running printed solid your main job or do you have another
Apr 6, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: he has another job
Apr 6, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: toy microswitches are fine IMO
    Apr 6, 2015 11:54 AM - jbigler1986: I was jw
Apr 6, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Kelly: he's been considering doing it full time
Apr 6, 2015 11:56 AM - jbigler1986: Not a bad idea if he can get a few other items in stock. He has a lot of great items already
Apr 6, 2015 11:56 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah and he has some good prospects for filament sales
Apr 6, 2015 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: JB you can maintain your build height if you have the adapter between the delrin nut and carriage be longer
Apr 6, 2015 11:58 AM - jbigler1986: So the one that don posted just make it taller?
Apr 6, 2015 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: Not sure where the ring with the 3 knobs goes honestly.
Apr 6, 2015 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: not sure
    Apr 6, 2015 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: don's doesn't really do what i'm thinking
    Apr 6, 2015 12:00 PM - jbigler1986: What are you thinking?
Apr 6, 2015 12:01 PM - Mike Kelly: do you have a link to his?
    Apr 6, 2015 12:02 PM - jbigler1986: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:370703
    Apr 6, 2015 12:02 PM - jbigler1986: This is a neat idea https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:370914
Apr 6, 2015 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i would do something like Kabe's
Apr 6, 2015 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: but taller
Apr 6, 2015 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: how much taller do you think
Apr 6, 2015 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: Could you edit it for me? Idk how to just make something like that taller without scaling the whole thing
Apr 6, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i can do that for you

Apr 6, 2015 12:06 PM - jbigler1986: I can use the robo switch right? I don't need the lever switch
Apr 6, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: how many mm is it from the top of the stepper motor to the end of the lead screw
Apr 6, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the robo switch is prob fine
Apr 6, 2015 12:07 PM - jbigler1986: I can only get inches right now. No calipers at work
Apr 6, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: well ok
    Apr 6, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll do the conversion for you i guess :)
Apr 6, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: i assume the 300mm is from the base to the top
Apr 6, 2015 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: Well I guess I do the conversion too. Duh. My bad
Apr 6, 2015 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: do you want the base to the end of the threads or the base to the top of the whole screw? there is a little shoulder at the top of the rod with no threads
Apr 6, 2015 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: the face that will go up against the middle plate to the last thread length
    Apr 6, 2015 12:12 PM - TechSupportGo: What's up MK
Apr 6, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: yo tsg
Apr 6, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: jb i also need more accurate dimensions of your delrin nuts
    Apr 6, 2015 12:16 PM - donhuevo: hola fellas
Apr 6, 2015 12:16 PM - donhuevo: ears were burning
    Apr 6, 2015 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: 257MM
    Apr 6, 2015 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: delrin nut is 15.8mm tall
    Apr 6, 2015 12:18 PM - jbigler1986: hello don
Apr 6, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Kelly: heya don
    Apr 6, 2015 12:19 PM - donhuevo: happy belated
Apr 6, 2015 12:20 PM - Mike Glass: Hueavo Wavo
Apr 6, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: my name works for Cinco de Mayo and Easter
    Apr 6, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Apr 6, 2015 12:21 PM - donhuevo: McDonHuevo and now St Patty's day too
    Apr 6, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Apr 6, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: Mike is looking to measure everyones nuts!
Apr 6, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: jb when you get home tonight send me a sketch of the dimensions for the delrin nut, try to get the hole pattern as well
Apr 6, 2015 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: ok so if you space the nut 30mm off the Z idlers you'll maintain 220mm of height
    Apr 6, 2015 12:23 PM - jbigler1986: OK
Apr 6, 2015 12:24 PM - donhuevo: yes, measure your nuts for Mike
    Apr 6, 2015 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: Don might have the dimensions
Apr 6, 2015 12:24 PM - donhuevo: did you get them from that omc stepper online?
    Apr 6, 2015 12:24 PM - donhuevo: same ones I bought?
Apr 6, 2015 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: no but the delrin nut looks the same
    Apr 6, 2015 12:24 PM - donhuevo: ah
Apr 6, 2015 12:25 PM - donhuevo: measure your own nuts son
    Apr 6, 2015 12:25 PM - Mike Glass: haha
    Apr 6, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: never. that's what my wife is for
Apr 6, 2015 12:25 PM - donhuevo: at least give her an accurate ruler this time
    Apr 6, 2015 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Apr 6, 2015 12:27 PM - jbigler1986: do you have the dimensions of the delrin nut off hand? No biggie if not
    Apr 6, 2015 12:29 PM - donhuevo: no. I don't. sorry
Apr 6, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: jb yours are probably unique
    Apr 6, 2015 12:30 PM - jbigler1986: possible. I will measure them when I get home
    Apr 6, 2015 12:31 PM - donhuevo: like fingerprints
    Apr 6, 2015 12:35 PM - jbigler1986: more like dna
    Apr 6, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/jwoR26z.png here's a crude first pass
Apr 6, 2015 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: once you get me some more dimensions i can clean it up
Apr 6, 2015 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: awesome. It will be probably around 5 or 6 your time
Apr 6, 2015 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: wont that need to be another inch or two to keep it the same as what he has now?
Apr 6, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh my brother in law drives me up the wall
Apr 6, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: he's living with us for free and now he's unemployed as of this week
Apr 6, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: so my wife is supposed to give him tasks to do around the house
Apr 6, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: he had one thing to do today, rake pine needles for trash tomorrow
Apr 6, 2015 12:52 PM - donhuevo: thought he moved out
Apr 6, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: he spends all of 20 minutes raking leaves and loosely fills one container
Apr 6, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: he moved back in in feb
Apr 6, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: then puts it on the curb
Apr 6, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: DUDE PACK THAT SHIT IN THERE
Apr 6, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Kelly: he's supposed to be getting a real job in phoenix soonish
Apr 6, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: but he's putting it off for a month for some dumb reason
    Apr 6, 2015 12:54 PM - Mike Kelly: Mike I assumed the Z height of 220mm
Apr 6, 2015 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: The threads are only 262mm long
    Apr 6, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 6, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: we ended up with 256
Apr 6, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: this allows you to get 220mm of z travel
Apr 6, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i can do more but i think your greg's wade will hit the enclosure first
Apr 6, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Glass: do you think it will be stable?
Apr 6, 2015 12:57 PM - Mike Kelly: don't see why not, the axis is stabalized by the smooth rod not the lead screw
Apr 6, 2015 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I thought about that too then realized the smooth axis would make it stable
Apr 6, 2015 12:58 PM - Mike Glass: hmm so I should be able to get 3" more out of mine by adding more on the bottom too?
    Apr 6, 2015 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: then who needs a delta.woot
Apr 6, 2015 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: the case is usually the limiting factor
Apr 6, 2015 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: at best you can get 235mm
Apr 6, 2015 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: ok im at 228 now?
Apr 6, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: probably, i think that's the stock value
Apr 6, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Glass: so how does 3 more inches get me only to 235
Apr 6, 2015 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: if you keep the lid on
Apr 6, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: naw pull that shit off..lol
Apr 6, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Kelly: then you'll need something to support your Z smooth rods
Apr 6, 2015 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: yep been working on a wood case design cabinet
Apr 6, 2015 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: then yes
Apr 6, 2015 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i would personally print new Z idlers instead
Apr 6, 2015 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: and do solenoid leveling
    Apr 6, 2015 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: but that's how i roll
Apr 6, 2015 1:02 PM - jbigler1986: I liked that setup you have. How long did that take you
    Apr 6, 2015 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: the leveling that is
Apr 6, 2015 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: uhh, i mean it doesn't take super long to make
Apr 6, 2015 1:03 PM - Mike Glass: hey did you find cad file for that naked micro switch
Apr 6, 2015 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: the leaf one?
    Apr 6, 2015 1:04 PM - Mike Glass: yea,
    Apr 6, 2015 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: no i made it
Apr 6, 2015 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: oh thats right
Apr 6, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Glass: I fould a spec sheet in the uk with all the dim
Apr 6, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: oh nice
Apr 6, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder how mine compares
    Apr 6, 2015 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: http://imgur.com/Vi7NGHX
    Apr 6, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Glass: thanks
    Apr 6, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Kelly: mmhm
Apr 6, 2015 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: looks like they use these for RC, 400ma@30VDC

Apr 6, 2015 2:11 PM - Bill Monroe: but he just fishes for steelhead
Apr 6, 2015 2:14 PM - Bill Monroe: I like prospect a lot.. I can fly there in 7 hours with 1 stop, the runway is small but excellent, and I can walk to the house Dad grew up in

Apr 6, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: seems more like a processing issue
    Apr 6, 2015 2:42 PM - jbigler1986: Only if it's video processing
    Apr 6, 2015 2:42 PM - jbigler1986: More ram and better processor
    Apr 6, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i have 32 gigs of ram
    Apr 6, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: and 3.5ghz processor
Apr 6, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess i should look into over clocking
    Apr 6, 2015 2:44 PM - jbigler1986: What kind of processor?
    Apr 6, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: i7
Apr 6, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: was just about to add that important bit
    Apr 6, 2015 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: 2700k
Apr 6, 2015 2:46 PM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. That should be plenty. What are you processing? Solidsworks?
    Apr 6, 2015 2:47 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 6, 2015 2:48 PM - jbigler1986: What video card do you have
Apr 6, 2015 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: it just takes 20-30 seconds to do seemingly simple tasks
    Apr 6, 2015 2:48 PM - jbigler1986: Defrag it
    Apr 6, 2015 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: NVidia Quadro K2000
    Apr 6, 2015 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Apr 6, 2015 2:49 PM - jbigler1986: Running SSD?

    Apr 6, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 6, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: though i store my working files on a HDD
Apr 6, 2015 2:50 PM - jbigler1986: What cpu and ram percentage is being used
Apr 6, 2015 2:51 PM - jbigler1986: Might have an unknown process hogging them
Apr 6, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: CPU is peaking at 15%, memory is at 12gig with ~5 of that being solidworks
Apr 6, 2015 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i just accidentally clicked something so now i get to wait for a response
Apr 6, 2015 2:56 PM - Stephen Capistron: is your license server local to you?
    Apr 6, 2015 2:57 PM - Stephen Capistron: Auto-save on?
Apr 6, 2015 2:58 PM - Mike Kelly: yes to both
Apr 6, 2015 2:59 PM - Stephen Capistron: Auto save can be a real drag
Apr 6, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'll try disabling that, it rarely comes in handy
Apr 6, 2015 3:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: If only things could auto save as well as google docs
Apr 6, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: or onshape...
    Apr 6, 2015 3:07 PM - Mike Kelly: https://imgur.com/a/HRGCl hmm
Apr 6, 2015 3:16 PM - jbigler1986: Hey I got my steppers today. Did you get ur up and going yet
    Apr 6, 2015 3:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: yup

Apr 6, 2015 3:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: I could not get the dupont connectors to work
Apr 6, 2015 3:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: i'm baffled that those connectors can be made in china better than i can in my basement
Apr 6, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: are you sure they're making contact with the pins
Apr 6, 2015 3:22 PM - Stephen Capistron: i popped the metal crimp part out of the plastic housing and put them on bare
Apr 6, 2015 3:22 PM - Stephen Capistron: it was still no good
    Apr 6, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: crazy
Apr 6, 2015 3:24 PM - Stephen Capistron: there is a contract EE that i work with on occassion. Next time i run into him i'm going to run it by him and see what he thinks
Apr 6, 2015 3:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i picked up some 4 pin connectors from ultibots
Apr 6, 2015 3:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope they work better than the duponts i have a ton of
Apr 6, 2015 3:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: I wonder if they will work on something less suseptable to signal noise, like a fan
Apr 6, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh i hate under extrusion
Apr 6, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Kelly: so tired of it
Apr 6, 2015 3:58 PM - Stephen Capistron: i find over to be worse
    Apr 6, 2015 4:32 PM - jbigler1986: MK

    Apr 6, 2015 4:32 PM - jbigler1986: Ready for some measurements?
    Apr 6, 2015 4:41 PM - Bill Monroe: ill take 34-24-34
    Apr 6, 2015 4:49 PM - dbvanhorn: @jb: I resemble that remark

Apr 6, 2015 4:50 PM - jbigler1986: That is my gangsta measurements. Gets the point across. lol
Apr 6, 2015 4:58 PM - Bradf80: Any changes with the latest MC update that anyone knows of? Just updated today
Apr 6, 2015 4:59 PM - JeffTheMess: still the same crap as before :)
Apr 6, 2015 5:04 PM - Bradf80: People say that, but I like it. It's a simple interfact and very user friendly. Most of the others look like 6 yr olds designed them.
    Apr 6, 2015 5:04 PM - Bradf80: interface even
    Apr 6, 2015 5:09 PM - TechSupportGo: hello all
    Apr 6, 2015 5:09 PM - Bradf80: Hey Tech
Apr 6, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: Thats because they don't spend time on loos. They would rather put time into the program itself giving better results and having less bugs
    Apr 6, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: looks*
Apr 6, 2015 5:11 PM - Bradf80: Which bugs in MC are you talking about? The only issue I had was with the old firmware that my Robo was shipped with. Has nothing to do with MC software.
Apr 6, 2015 5:11 PM - jbigler1986: Hey Bill or some other genius here
Apr 6, 2015 5:11 PM - TechSupportGo: I would love to see the algorithm for support material in matter control fixed
Apr 6, 2015 5:11 PM - jbigler1986: Not recognizing that a part is to big for the platform. It slices and everything then you select print and it does nothing at all
    Apr 6, 2015 5:12 PM - jbigler1986: That's just one example
Apr 6, 2015 5:13 PM - Bradf80: Hrmm. I've done a few projects that used the whole platform almost. I haven't had any experience with bugs lol. Guess when I run across one I'll pass judgement on their quality control =P
Apr 6, 2015 5:14 PM - Mike Glass: ugg I really hate autolevel, works great for 2 weeks then one side decides to be off 1mm now. WTF
Apr 6, 2015 5:15 PM - jbigler1986: I deal with that all of the time due to my rod slipping a tiny bit
Apr 6, 2015 5:15 PM - Bradf80: I've had that happen. Usually a hard reset fixes it for me.
Apr 6, 2015 5:15 PM - Mike Glass: mine are glued, so I know thats not the issue
    Apr 6, 2015 5:16 PM - jbigler1986: glue doesn't last forever :p
Apr 6, 2015 5:16 PM - Mike Glass: What do mean a hard reset, It gets turned off everyday.
Apr 6, 2015 5:16 PM - Mike Glass: this stuff I put on will have to burn off.
Apr 6, 2015 5:16 PM - Bradf80: If you use USB for anything it stays powered up.
Apr 6, 2015 5:16 PM - TechSupportGo: make sure your switch mounts aren't loose mine was
Apr 6, 2015 5:17 PM - Mike Glass: Yea, laptop gets shut down as well
Apr 6, 2015 5:17 PM - TechSupportGo: the one on the left was loose
Apr 6, 2015 5:17 PM - Bradf80: As long as the green usb light goes out on the side it should be a hard reset.
Apr 6, 2015 5:17 PM - jbigler1986: where is MK so he can edit my part so I can print these adapters
    Apr 6, 2015 5:17 PM - TechSupportGo: I also super glued my threaded rods  ... :( :p  :D
Apr 6, 2015 5:18 PM - jbigler1986: I'm going to be avoiding gluing anything hopefully by the end of the night
Apr 6, 2015 5:19 PM - Mike Glass: I used super glue with alum foil, and also threadlock..lol
Apr 6, 2015 5:19 PM - TechSupportGo: some people use hot glue, it is more forgiving
    Apr 6, 2015 5:19 PM - Mike Glass: I dont want forgiving
Apr 6, 2015 5:19 PM - Mike Glass: I never want it to come off again
    Apr 6, 2015 5:19 PM - jbigler1986: liquid weld?
    Apr 6, 2015 5:19 PM - TechSupportGo: I used gorilla supr glue !!!!!
    Apr 6, 2015 5:20 PM - jbigler1986: JB weld
    Apr 6, 2015 5:20 PM - TechSupportGo: steel bond
Apr 6, 2015 5:20 PM - Mike Glass: I wouldnt us gorilla if you paid me
Apr 6, 2015 5:20 PM - TechSupportGo: i am using it on my mouth right now
    Apr 6, 2015 5:21 PM - TechSupportGo:
Apr 6, 2015 5:21 PM - TechSupportGo: muuummmmmuu mmuummu mumumu
Apr 6, 2015 5:21 PM - Bradf80: Just printed out those rod caps. Gonna see how they work =p
Apr 6, 2015 5:22 PM - Mike Glass: ok after a manual level it took. basted Fucktard..lol
    Apr 6, 2015 5:23 PM - jbigler1986: yeah that's what i gotta do. It's annoying
Apr 6, 2015 5:24 PM - JeffTheMess: anybody knows a part number for the 4 pin molex connector?
    Apr 6, 2015 5:25 PM - jbigler1986: for the steppers
Apr 6, 2015 5:26 PM - JeffTheMess: for the bed
    Apr 6, 2015 5:27 PM - jbigler1986: u have the old one?
    Apr 6, 2015 5:28 PM - JeffTheMess: nope new
    Apr 6, 2015 5:28 PM - jbigler1986: should be ribbon cable then
Apr 6, 2015 5:29 PM - JeffTheMess: yes that one
Apr 6, 2015 5:29 PM - Mike Glass: think he's talking about the connector on the cable
    Apr 6, 2015 5:30 PM - JeffTheMess: i think its called a jst connector?
Apr 6, 2015 5:31 PM - Mike Glass: jst on the fans and hotend
Apr 6, 2015 5:31 PM - JeffTheMess: just to the heater and thermistor
Apr 6, 2015 5:31 PM - Mike Glass: I have them on my fan as well
    Apr 6, 2015 5:31 PM - Mike Kelly: ohey
Apr 6, 2015 5:32 PM - Mike Glass: are you talking on the ramps side?
Apr 6, 2015 5:34 PM - JeffTheMess: the bed side right under the bed
Apr 6, 2015 5:34 PM - Bradf80: Wow those rod caps tightened the smooth rods up nicely!
Apr 6, 2015 5:35 PM - Bradf80: Now to just get the threaded rods snug and hopefully I don't have to bother with any more "fixes".
Apr 6, 2015 5:35 PM - Mike Kelly: don't constrain the threaded rod
Apr 6, 2015 5:35 PM - jbigler1986: mk did you see the pic with measurements
    Apr 6, 2015 5:37 PM - JeffTheMess: http://m.imgur.com/KAiYEjA
    Apr 6, 2015 5:37 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Apr 6, 2015 5:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i need the bolt circle pattern
    Apr 6, 2015 5:38 PM - jbigler1986: ?
Apr 6, 2015 5:38 PM - Mike Kelly: the hole pattern
Apr 6, 2015 5:38 PM - Mike Kelly: for mounting
Apr 6, 2015 5:38 PM - Mike Kelly: i need to know that
Apr 6, 2015 5:39 PM - Mike Kelly: measue the hole diameter then the distance from the hole to the edge
Apr 6, 2015 5:39 PM - Bradf80: So just snug the smooth rods and leave the threaded rods be then Mike?
    Apr 6, 2015 5:39 PM - Mike Kelly: aye
Apr 6, 2015 5:39 PM - Mike Kelly: otherwise you get torque stall and binding
Apr 6, 2015 5:40 PM - jbigler1986: Oh. The one where the threaded rod goes thru or the 3 hole
    Apr 6, 2015 5:40 PM - Mike Kelly: 3 holes
    Apr 6, 2015 5:41 PM - JeffTheMess: anybody knows a part?http://m.imgur.com/KAiYEjA
Apr 6, 2015 5:41 PM - Mike Kelly: some kind of molex connector. Just jumper the cables
Apr 6, 2015 5:42 PM - Mike Kelly: or replace it with something rated to higher current
    Apr 6, 2015 5:43 PM - Mike Glass: maybe this http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...e-connector-x-10-sets/1114121_1628377609.html
Apr 6, 2015 5:43 PM - Stephen Capistron: Instead of screwing the big threaded nut into position I oversized the receiving hole and krazy glued it in
Apr 6, 2015 5:43 PM - Stephen Capistron: didn't have to worry about having it perfect that way
Apr 6, 2015 5:45 PM - jbigler1986: Did you order the same one I got? Or a longer one. MK do you want the distance from hole to hole or the diameter of the hole itself
Apr 6, 2015 5:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i need the hole diameter and then the distance from the edge of the hole to the outside edge which will tell me the circular pattern
Apr 6, 2015 5:46 PM - Stephen Capistron: if it is the sainsmart off amazon, same one
    Apr 6, 2015 5:47 PM - jbigler1986: Kk
Apr 6, 2015 5:47 PM - Stephen Capistron: anyways. I'm off to watch jeopardy and go to bed
    Apr 6, 2015 5:51 PM - jbigler1986: Hole is 2.65mm distance is 2.2mm
    Apr 6, 2015 5:52 PM - JeffTheMess: thank mg
    Apr 6, 2015 6:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll assume it's 15mm diameter pattern
Apr 6, 2015 6:05 PM - Mike Kelly: close enough to the 14.95 you measured
    Apr 6, 2015 6:05 PM - jbigler1986: Sounds good
Apr 6, 2015 6:06 PM - jbigler1986: Would it be hard to add the z stop tab? Or should I just use a screw
    Apr 6, 2015 6:26 PM - jbigler1986: How is it coming along?
Apr 6, 2015 6:28 PM - Mike Glass: almost done
