Nov 12, 2016 at 7:55 PM - Geof: I sent mark a text he may be coming along if hes up
Nov 12, 2016 at 7:56 PM - Geof: Glad to see you back ! 2 robos ??? Which models ?
Nov 12, 2016 at 7:56 PM - tesseract: I was number two went to SD and picked mine up had it signed by the original three
Nov 12, 2016 at 7:57 PM - tesseract: the first is the original kickstarter but with SEVERAL mods
Nov 12, 2016 at 7:58 PM - tesseract: the other is still v1 but it works
Nov 12, 2016 at 7:58 PM - WheresWaldo: There has been a lot of modding done since then.
Nov 12, 2016 at 7:58 PM - Geof: :) most of which by you waldo :) (good thing)
Nov 12, 2016 at 7:59 PM - tesseract: yep I worked on many of them
Nov 12, 2016 at 8:00 PM - WheresWaldo: Still think you are the only one to do all those micro models
Nov 12, 2016 at 8:00 PM - tesseract: my ods are all out of date but they had their time and many used them
Nov 12, 2016 at 8:00 PM - tesseract: yep those were interesting

Nov 12, 2016 8:01 PM - tesseract: Mike and I worked on the dual extrusion plate for the x axis
Nov 12, 2016 8:02 PM - tesseract: I have some of our original prototypes printed
Nov 12, 2016 8:19 PM - Geof: Thats pretty cool. I couldnt give up the build volume for dual ext. On the robo
Nov 12, 2016 8:21 PM - tesseract: that was a tough one but the speed going to bowden at the same time made it work for me
Nov 13, 2016 11:18 AM - Toro1966: Hey guys - quick question on MESH. I am installing latest RCBF on RObo #2. After i bed level and do M500 to store the settings, what command is it to check if MESh is active? G29?
    Nov 13, 2016 11:19 AM - danzca6: G29 yes
Nov 13, 2016 11:20 AM - danzca6: It might not show active, but just the grid values. Do a G28 then G29 and it will show a status of active then
    Nov 13, 2016 11:20 AM - Toro1966: Thanks D!
    Nov 13, 2016 11:21 AM - danzca6: anytime
Nov 13, 2016 11:21 AM - Toro1966: Have to do it again...have it hooked up via USB now so I can save with M500 after leveling.
Nov 13, 2016 11:22 AM - danzca6: if you haven't turned things off, won't it just let you do M500 after the USB is connected
Nov 13, 2016 11:23 AM - Toro1966: Did that - said stored, but really didn't. Had the same issue with Robo 1. Should have remembered....
Nov 13, 2016 11:24 AM - danzca6: ugh...another 16 points of level...I wish there was a way to save to SD the points so each time you refresh the firmware you can just load and go
Nov 13, 2016 11:32 AM - WheresWaldo: What firmware did you just load?
    Nov 13, 2016 11:32 AM - Toro1966: I agree. But I'll take it - lol. Much better than ABL :)
    Nov 13, 2016 11:32 AM - Toro1966: RCBF 11-04
    Nov 13, 2016 11:32 AM - Toro1966: Hey Waldo
Nov 13, 2016 11:33 AM - Toro1966: Just finiushed and it stored it this time. Loading filament and test print time.
    Nov 13, 2016 11:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey guys.
Nov 13, 2016 11:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Since the Marlin dev team keeps hinting at RC8 I have been playing around with the Robo build for OctoPrint. I am trying to build it all from scratch.
    Nov 13, 2016 11:35 AM - Toro1966: Awesome - can't wait to try that out Waldo.
Nov 13, 2016 11:37 AM - WheresWaldo: Personally I hate the OctoPrint theme they built, I am more curious about the LCD interface instead. But too many flashes and now my cheap 8gb uSD just took a crap. Now I have to wait until my kid brings mone two 16GB Samsung's.
    Nov 13, 2016 11:37 AM - WheresWaldo: mone = home
Nov 13, 2016 11:37 AM - WheresWaldo: My typing sucks
Nov 13, 2016 11:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Toro, Robo already has an image for the Raspberry Pi. But I am trying to make it SBC agnostic
Nov 13, 2016 11:39 AM - WheresWaldo: and of course compatible with the R1/R1+PLUS
Nov 13, 2016 11:41 AM - Toro1966: That would be excellent. I have an RPI3 with OCtoprint loaded, but haven't hooked it up yet because I had wireless wissues in my basement where my RObos are.
Nov 13, 2016 11:41 AM - WheresWaldo: @danzca6 I have been studying what they have done so far and I think they are still using Autolevel and not MESH.
Nov 13, 2016 11:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Mine is hardwired, I am not a big fan of wireless if your devices aren't mobile.
    Nov 13, 2016 11:42 AM - WheresWaldo: So I don't even have a dongle for my rPi2
Nov 13, 2016 11:43 AM - WheresWaldo: The plan is to duplicate the best parts of the R2 interface and put it on top of the R1.
Nov 13, 2016 11:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Of course, that assumes there are good parts to the R2 experience.
    Nov 13, 2016 11:44 AM - Toro1966: I can't believe I waited so long to switch to MESH!
Nov 13, 2016 11:44 AM - danzca6: Since they introduced the IR I was assuming they were still living in the ABL dark ages
Nov 13, 2016 11:44 AM - Toro1966: It is so nice being able to pjust print and not have to spend an hour each time leveleing - an autoleveling bed!
Nov 13, 2016 11:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Reality is Auto-Level is easier for people who have no business owning a 3D printer
Nov 13, 2016 11:50 AM - WheresWaldo: The IR as well as filament sensor support is pretty generic, as far as I can tell.
Nov 13, 2016 11:55 AM - danzca6: I implemented the filament runout sensor on my R1. I didn't do the filament width sensor, but I see that as just an auto manipulation of extrusion percentage during the print. Might be something to look at later
Nov 13, 2016 11:58 AM - Toro1966: I'll have to figure out how to do the runout sensor
Nov 13, 2016 11:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, is your setup connected to the RAMPS or to a GPIO on the rPi?
    Nov 13, 2016 11:59 AM - danzca6: ramps
    Nov 13, 2016 11:59 AM - danzca6: I know they are using the pi
    Nov 13, 2016 11:59 AM - danzca6: Toro...write up is in process on that
Nov 13, 2016 11:59 AM - WheresWaldo: The new Robo's use the Pi for almost everything
Nov 13, 2016 12:00 PM - danzca6: yes they do...I like how they won the CES 2017 innovation award for something they borrowed and glued together from others
    Nov 13, 2016 12:01 PM - danzca6: ok...brb...time for lunch
Nov 13, 2016 12:01 PM - WheresWaldo: Those awards are worth as much as the bytes used to create the logo
Nov 13, 2016 12:02 PM - WheresWaldo: Been playing more with the Robo_theme for Octoprint, the more I use it the less I like it.
Nov 13, 2016 12:03 PM - WheresWaldo: Someone needs to take a class on user interface design. OctoPrint's is dated but the Robo theme is a step backwards
Nov 13, 2016 12:04 PM - WheresWaldo: It's not all bad, the font they used is nice

Nov 14, 2016 5:08 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - question abou the new Mesh RCBF download. Having issues
    Nov 14, 2016 5:16 PM - danzca6: what's up?
Nov 14, 2016 5:18 PM - Toro1966: On RObo 2 - the print is getting cut off at the end of the bed. Almost as if the machine sees the wrong bed size by about 20-30mm
    Nov 14, 2016 5:18 PM - danzca6: interesting
Nov 14, 2016 5:19 PM - Toro1966: Just tried it again. It's done it a couple of times.
Nov 14, 2016 5:19 PM - Toro1966: This time I tried auto home first before I printed from the SD
Nov 14, 2016 5:19 PM - danzca6: I know I actually changed mine to be bigger. WW was a little conservative on the build area
Nov 14, 2016 5:20 PM - Toro1966: Nope - same problem. Cutting the end off. I am running the october version on Robo 1 and the Nov version in robo 2 but that shouldn't mattter.
Nov 14, 2016 5:20 PM - Toro1966: The layout in S3D shows all pieces inside the bed. But when it prints. it cuts off the back a bit.
Nov 14, 2016 5:20 PM - danzca6: I'll chk both to see if anything changed
Nov 14, 2016 5:21 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. Can you also tell me what your bed size values are?
Nov 14, 2016 5:22 PM - Toro1966: OK - at least one obvious problem. S3D shows a bigger size than the bed size in config_h in the firmware
    Nov 14, 2016 5:23 PM - Toro1966: S3D default - which I believe is correct is 228/254/200
    Nov 14, 2016 5:23 PM - danzca6: X,Y,Z is the same in Oct and Nov version 220,236,230
    Nov 14, 2016 5:24 PM - danzca6: mine is 228,254,203
    Nov 14, 2016 5:24 PM - Toro1966: Firmware is 220/236/230
Nov 14, 2016 5:24 PM - danzca6: yep, so you have the WW values
Nov 14, 2016 5:25 PM - Toro1966: So if I slice with S3D - which has higher limits, why does it go with what the firmware says?
    Nov 14, 2016 5:25 PM - danzca6: good question
Nov 14, 2016 5:25 PM - Toro1966: So I need to change and load the firmware with S3D values - correct?
Nov 14, 2016 5:26 PM - Toro1966: I would have thought the slicer would override the firmware
Nov 14, 2016 5:26 PM - danzca6: Since you are having issues with being too big, you may want to go the other way and change S3d to be the smaller firmware values
Nov 14, 2016 5:27 PM - Toro1966: I have room to move though in the physical bed before the stop. It's just as if the software won't let it. Which makes sense now looking at the numbers.
    Nov 14, 2016 5:27 PM - danzca6: oh, yes, agreed
Nov 14, 2016 5:27 PM - Toro1966: Problem is that once I reload the firmware, I am going to have to remesh
    Nov 14, 2016 5:27 PM - danzca6: I thought you were hitting the endstop
    Nov 14, 2016 5:28 PM - danzca6: yeah, that part sucks
Nov 14, 2016 5:28 PM - danzca6: saving off the mesh and loading the values back will be a HUGE feature to add
Nov 14, 2016 5:28 PM - Toro1966: No sir. Want to show you pics of the latest print and tell me what you think I can do to improve quality. Robo 2. Just got LCD so this is really only like the third print I have made from it.

    Nov 14, 2016 5:31 PM - danzca6: is that wall-e?
    Nov 14, 2016 5:33 PM - Toro1966: Yes
Nov 14, 2016 5:33 PM - Toro1966: Start of him anyway. My wife is a huge fan.
Nov 14, 2016 5:34 PM - danzca6: is that a white filament you have used before?
Nov 14, 2016 5:34 PM - danzca6: have you gone through all the calibrations with the printer already?
Nov 14, 2016 5:35 PM - Toro1966: Yep - already calibrated extruder and no, white is new. It's the same BRAND I have used before - just not used the white. Really DO NOT like it. Prints like crap so far.
Nov 14, 2016 5:35 PM - Toro1966: Ironically I have used tons of their filament.
Nov 14, 2016 5:36 PM - danzca6: white can be tricky. I've heard of others having issues with white filaments
Nov 14, 2016 5:37 PM - danzca6: try switching to a known good roll and see if you have the same issues with sides like that
    Nov 14, 2016 5:38 PM - Toro1966: Will do.
Nov 14, 2016 5:42 PM - danzca6: May also want to go through and make sure everything is tightened down
Nov 14, 2016 5:43 PM - Toro1966: Yep - did that first when I saw the layering. I am also going to move to dedicated table. It was on a table with another printer and both were going
Nov 14, 2016 5:50 PM - Toro1966: How come my numbers that show up when I do G29 after Mesh leveling ARE NOT the same as the numbers I know I entered when I leveled? Is that because the printer calculates something?
    Nov 14, 2016 5:51 PM - danzca6: about 2mm off?
Nov 14, 2016 5:53 PM - danzca6: mine was like that and I think it has to do with Z_CLEARANCE_BETWEEN_PROBES 2
Nov 14, 2016 5:53 PM - Toro1966: less. For example, I know for some I entered in 2.25 or something and then when I do G29 iut says 1.75
    Nov 14, 2016 5:54 PM - Toro1966: Ok - that makes sense
    Nov 14, 2016 5:54 PM - danzca6: hmmm...so my theory is probably wrong
    Nov 14, 2016 5:54 PM - danzca6: I know mine was off as well
Nov 14, 2016 5:55 PM - danzca6: there is probably some calculation done that changes what we see and the G29 values
    Nov 14, 2016 5:55 PM - danzca6: I haven't looked much at it though since it works
    Nov 14, 2016 5:55 PM - danzca6: :)
Nov 14, 2016 5:56 PM - Toro1966: Thanks brother! Also printing out an AT AT. This thing is freaking huge.

Nov 14, 2016 5:59 PM - danzca6: My buddy just got one, not a convertible, but it is nice
    Nov 14, 2016 6:03 PM - Toro1966: 6.2L V8 455HP
    Nov 14, 2016 6:03 PM - Toro1966: Sam Engine that's in the Corvette Stingray

Nov 14, 2016 6:04 PM - danzca6: make sure license and registration is ready to go at all times :)
    Nov 14, 2016 6:09 PM - Toro1966: LOL. Aint that the truth.
Nov 14, 2016 6:14 PM - Toro1966: Time to go spend time with the better half. All the best D

    Nov 15, 2016 7:19 AM - daniel871: Since the shoutbox is super-slow anyway, here, have this: https://i.imgur.com/4HwPNba.gifv
    Nov 15, 2016 7:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, how's it hangin'?
    Nov 15, 2016 7:32 AM - danzca6: Anyone see this? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1245051645/re-arm-for-ramps-simple-32-bit-upgrade
Nov 15, 2016 7:34 AM - danzca6: removes the arduino, keeps the RAMPS, upgrades to 32bit with ethernet and Smoothieware firmware
Nov 15, 2016 7:34 AM - danzca6: Daniel that image seems to be killing the shoutbox performance
Nov 15, 2016 7:46 AM - daniel871: They need to update the forum software so that the shoutbox properly displays gifv files.
    Nov 15, 2016 7:48 AM - danzca6: much better
Nov 15, 2016 7:49 AM - danzca6: I'm thinking about supporting that campaign and checking it out...looks cool
Nov 15, 2016 7:50 AM - daniel871: Also I saw that kickstarter, problem there is that it doesn't appear to have any hope of getting funding in time.
    Nov 15, 2016 7:50 AM - danzca6: ah...it's fully funded
Nov 15, 2016 7:50 AM - danzca6: like in 24 hours they were fully funded
    Nov 15, 2016 7:51 AM - daniel871: N/m, thinking of another project that's a CNC controller.
Nov 15, 2016 7:51 AM - daniel871: Self-contained/etc. where you just hook a keyboard/mouse/monitor up to it and then hook your machine's motors/spindle/sensors to it.
Nov 15, 2016 7:52 AM - danzca6: that would cool. I see they have a CNC and a Laser shield for this new Re-Arm board
    Nov 15, 2016 7:52 AM - daniel871: My secondary complaint still stands.
    Nov 15, 2016 7:52 AM - daniel871: For $50 I can just get an MKS-Smoothie knockoff.
Nov 15, 2016 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: That seems like an interesting KS, but Smoothie's interface sucks with a controller
    Nov 15, 2016 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: The MKS-SBase works
Nov 15, 2016 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Too bad they give nothing back to the community
Nov 15, 2016 7:54 AM - danzca6: looks like there is interest in the Marlin developers to use this re-arm board for a 32bit support test
Nov 15, 2016 7:54 AM - daniel871: Yeah, if I was going to go for the 32-bit controller I'd buy directly from the Smoothieboard developers.
Nov 15, 2016 7:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Been trying to get them to open-source the LCD touchscreen since I got mine, they just ignore all requests.
    Nov 15, 2016 7:54 AM - daniel871: Also, isn't the Arduino Due 32-bit and supported in Marlin?
    Nov 15, 2016 7:55 AM - daniel871: Arduino Due + RADDS board + 128 steppers.
Nov 15, 2016 7:55 AM - WheresWaldo: You won't see Marlin ported to 32-bit until after UBL and possibly 1.2.0 rebase
Nov 15, 2016 7:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Anything for the Due is just a forked version
Nov 15, 2016 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, got my old rPi screen working :)
Nov 15, 2016 7:59 AM - daniel871: Well, that delta kickstarter is posting videos/photos of them doing live assemblies of the kits for the folks that backed the fully-assembled printer.
Nov 15, 2016 7:59 AM - daniel871: Basic premise is that they're going to assemble kits for the first batch of fully-assembled backers as the way to test both the kits and the assembly process and then start shipping out kits/etc. once they make any revisions to the assembly manual/etc.
    Nov 15, 2016 8:13 AM - danzca6: so many new toys

Nov 15, 2016 11:36 AM - B Nason: I am selling my robo3d r1 and it seems the market is flooded with r1 plus machines I can't believe all the ebay and other sources only offer the occassional r1 model
Nov 15, 2016 11:36 AM - B Nason: are they being honest are they really selling the r1 as r1 plus models
Nov 15, 2016 11:37 AM - B Nason: the oly way they can be told apart it seems is if the led lights are blue as they are on the r1
Nov 15, 2016 12:10 PM - danzca6: I actually saw a beta for sale for $300 the other day...that's old school Robo there. Yeah most are R1+ that say it. Can see several differences between the R1. LED is one of them, hotend quick release, no couplers on the leadscrews, z endstop brackets, and the +PLUS next to the R1 on the build plate are normally good keys.
Nov 15, 2016 12:11 PM - danzca6: Some are still asking high dollar I just don't see those going very well.
Nov 15, 2016 12:11 PM - danzca6: What are you looking at getting from your R1 and why are you getting rid of it?

    Nov 16, 2016 8:35 AM - danzca6: Anyone here see the new nozzle size by E3D? http://e3d-online.com/High-Res-015-Nozzles
Nov 16, 2016 8:36 AM - danzca6: Lots of requirements on filament type, extruder, and even stepper motors. They recommend .9 degree steppers instead of the 1.8 we have
Nov 16, 2016 8:47 AM - nonmindo: hey guys, just picked up S3D, I cant seem to get the z offset to stick by any means at all, any tricks?
Nov 16, 2016 8:48 AM - nonmindo: actually.... just as i was bout to pull out all my hair, i think i got it.....
Nov 16, 2016 3:09 PM - danzca6: holy crap that new E3D nozzle is $19...will put that on the backburner
Nov 16, 2016 3:16 PM - Geof: Im buying lol
Nov 16, 2016 3:16 PM - Geof: Matt says in stock end of the week so fingers crossed
Nov 16, 2016 3:30 PM - danzca6: Tim put it on his site for preorder
Nov 16, 2016 3:31 PM - danzca6: Matt should to so he gets the sales
Nov 16, 2016 3:31 PM - danzca6: Now did you read about the requirements for using the nozzle
Nov 16, 2016 3:32 PM - Geof: Nope lol haven't read on it at all lol
    Nov 16, 2016 3:33 PM - danzca6: http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/V6_0.15mm_High_Precision_Nozzles
Nov 16, 2016 3:33 PM - danzca6: only certain filaments are tested and PLA isn't one of them
Nov 16, 2016 3:34 PM - danzca6: They recommend a sock, titan, .9 stepper motors, powerful part cooling fan
Nov 16, 2016 3:34 PM - danzca6: that wiki gives very specific settings as well...so be sure to read it all before using
Nov 16, 2016 3:36 PM - Geof: Lol I'll throw it on my robo and see what happens :) lol
    Nov 16, 2016 3:36 PM - danzca6: oooook
Nov 16, 2016 3:38 PM - Geof: Lol I like to fail hard
Nov 16, 2016 3:40 PM - Geof: The requirements they have are intense lol.
    Nov 16, 2016 3:40 PM - danzca6: right?
Nov 16, 2016 3:41 PM - danzca6: got me second guessing my purchase
Nov 16, 2016 3:41 PM - Geof: Seems odd they didn't test pla
    Nov 16, 2016 3:42 PM - danzca6: Did you see this on KS? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1245051645/re-arm-for-ramps-simple-32-bit-upgrade?ref=discovery
    Nov 16, 2016 3:43 PM - danzca6: Been thinking of backing it
    Nov 16, 2016 3:43 PM - Geof: That's interesting.
    Nov 16, 2016 3:43 PM - danzca6: $50 to replace the 8bit arduino with 32bit, ethernet, and smoothieware
    Nov 16, 2016 3:44 PM - danzca6: I like Marlin a lot these days though
Nov 16, 2016 3:45 PM - Geof: Ditto. I don't really have an issue with my ramps :)
    Nov 16, 2016 3:45 PM - Geof: Arduino*** lol
Nov 16, 2016 3:45 PM - danzca6: I know but it might be fun to try out
Nov 16, 2016 3:46 PM - danzca6: not like they won't be available after the KS though
Nov 16, 2016 3:46 PM - Geof: True, I'm not that good lol. Idk that I'd be able to figure it out
Nov 16, 2016 3:47 PM - danzca6: ah, you would figure out just fine
Nov 16, 2016 3:47 PM - Geof: Scary firmware icky lol.
Nov 16, 2016 3:47 PM - danzca6: smoothieware would be the only thing to learn and if no mesh then no thanks
Nov 16, 2016 3:47 PM - danzca6: I have to read up more about it
Nov 16, 2016 3:48 PM - Geof: I'd rather Rambo my robo I think lol.
    Nov 16, 2016 3:49 PM - danzca6: mini or full?
Nov 16, 2016 3:49 PM - Geof: And my ditto lol
Nov 16, 2016 3:49 PM - Geof: Idk really. The mini works great on Prusa
Nov 16, 2016 3:50 PM - danzca6: did you ever watch the prusa new user video?
    Nov 16, 2016 3:51 PM - danzca6:
    Nov 16, 2016 3:52 PM - danzca6: I liked how he levels his x axis
    Nov 16, 2016 3:52 PM - Geof: They have a video !?!? Lol
Nov 16, 2016 3:52 PM - danzca6: just runs it all the way up until both sides hit the stops at the top
Nov 16, 2016 3:52 PM - danzca6: grinding the motors as it goes
Nov 16, 2016 3:53 PM - Geof: Oh yea that's a function through the full calibration.
Nov 16, 2016 3:54 PM - danzca6: I had to give him some grief about his new building he is planning...it's under 18K sq ft and I told him it is too small. His business is booming. I bet he will need bigger
Nov 16, 2016 3:56 PM - danzca6: I thought he would have taken it to the top and stopped right at or just before one side hit the top and manually turned the other side to get them both touching
Nov 16, 2016 3:56 PM - Geof: Lol no sir ram rod lol, I'd bet he is thinking after the craze dues down what's manageable :)
    Nov 16, 2016 3:57 PM - danzca6: yeah...I'm sure
Nov 16, 2016 3:57 PM - danzca6: I wonder if he will ever venture into other designs
Nov 16, 2016 3:58 PM - danzca6: always interesting to see what these companies come up with next
Nov 16, 2016 3:58 PM - Geof: Hmmmm. Idk he may just keep upping the i3, he does say it's a printer for a lifetime ;)
    Nov 16, 2016 3:59 PM - danzca6: industry is changing quick
    Nov 16, 2016 4:00 PM - danzca6: I'd like to see him around for a lot longer
Nov 16, 2016 4:00 PM - Geof: Yes it's constant improvements but not much seems to be hugely different ya know
Nov 16, 2016 4:01 PM - danzca6: Look at printrbot...great first printers for their time, but the new one that just came out is too close to the same and a lot more expensive. I was hoping for the next big step and not a revamp of the same old design
Nov 16, 2016 4:01 PM - Geof: I never played with one, didn't know they had new?
Nov 16, 2016 4:02 PM - danzca6: haha...that's my point...no one is talking about them much anymore...brook is a great guy, I just think he may have taken a step back
Nov 16, 2016 4:03 PM - danzca6: he probably saw what Josef came out with at the same time as his simple v2 and went face-palm
    Nov 16, 2016 4:03 PM - danzca6: didn't go big enough
Nov 16, 2016 4:04 PM - danzca6: http://printrbot.com/new-2016-simple/ if you wanted to see it...I bet if you saw this and the prusa you would go with the prusa
    Nov 16, 2016 4:04 PM - Geof: Lol
Nov 16, 2016 4:06 PM - danzca6: The wifi and touch screen are my favorite part of the printrbot
Nov 16, 2016 4:06 PM - Geof: I think a lot of companies think that lol
Nov 16, 2016 4:06 PM - danzca6: The hotend is still the old tired version...would have liked to have seen an e3d on there
Nov 16, 2016 4:08 PM - Geof: A lot of people should rethink their decisions i think lol. No joke I'll buy a 2nd mk2 soon
Nov 16, 2016 4:09 PM - danzca6: yeah...I'm trying to hold off until the lead time goes down, but now I am afraid he might be raising prices soon
Nov 16, 2016 4:10 PM - danzca6: seriously, knowing what you know now, would you have paid more for the kit?
    Nov 16, 2016 4:15 PM - Geof: Hmmm....possibly. depends on to what extent. 800 ? Yes , 1000 nope lol.
Nov 16, 2016 4:18 PM - Geof: There are alot of ....meh .... parts to the printer that id say is unacceptable if the price went to high. The zip ties, threaded rod frame, double nutting to hold things togather. Etc
    Nov 16, 2016 4:18 PM - Geof: But....a sub 1k printer....that kinda stuff is ok. Lol
Nov 16, 2016 4:19 PM - Geof: The multicolor add on will be fun and i did that and the printer for under 1k so im good with that.
Nov 16, 2016 4:36 PM - danzca6: Sorry... Had to jump up and get dinner started. Lost track of time
Nov 16, 2016 4:37 PM - danzca6: Haha... Those zip ties have gotten some heat on twitter... Can't believe the one guy is still ragging on jp for that... Like you said gold enough for the price and can always upgrade if issue
Nov 16, 2016 4:50 PM - Geof: Lol that guy just wants everything
Nov 16, 2016 4:52 PM - Geof: He seemed to not like the kit so much he said he tried to donate to a school. I offered him 300.00 for it lol
Nov 16, 2016 4:56 PM - danzca6: Yeah something odd with him. JF already offered full refund and still he goes on
Nov 16, 2016 4:59 PM - Geof: Yup just prissy know it all I think. Wants attention from manufacturers
Nov 16, 2016 5:00 PM - Geof: So thinking you might buy an mk2 soon?
    Nov 16, 2016 5:02 PM - danzca6: Hoping....
Nov 16, 2016 5:02 PM - danzca6: Trying to control my spending a bit with Christmas around the corner
    Nov 16, 2016 5:02 PM - Geof: Multicolor ?
Nov 16, 2016 5:04 PM - danzca6: Hmmm... Not sure.. But on the want list
    Nov 16, 2016 5:05 PM - Geof: I wish they did a 3 color lol. They have 2 and 4... I'd like 3 lol
    Nov 16, 2016 5:14 PM - danzca6: well buy 4 and only put on 3
    Nov 16, 2016 5:14 PM - danzca6: then you have a spare extruder motor
Nov 16, 2016 5:15 PM - Geof: Lol right. 2 color and PVA ...4 color is cool too I guess lol
    Nov 16, 2016 6:43 PM - nonmindo: Anyone here?

Nov 18, 2016 8:38 AM - danzca6: That 10% off is store wide, but there are a handful of extra things on sale like the V6. UM2 $1899 + 10% off. Not bad either if you have that kind of money
Nov 18, 2016 8:44 AM - danzca6: Filastruder has all E3D stuff 15% off with E3D15OFF code, but after shipping the MC deal is better since they are free s/h today
    Nov 18, 2016 9:28 AM - danzca6: seriously...I can't stop laughing
Nov 18, 2016 9:34 AM - daniel871: Extremely dumb shit in that video. None of those prints were stuck to the bed to begin with (note how none of them are the color of the filament on the spool).
Nov 18, 2016 9:35 AM - daniel871: Maybe make a video of that thing cracking their marketing folks in the mouth every time they send out an email about their badly written print guides or their claim that MatterControl is good slicing software.

Nov 21, 2016 at 10:48 AM - vanghis109: perfect thank you for clarifying. Hopefully this will get me up to par
Nov 21, 2016 at 11:07 AM - danzca6: If you add auto bed leveling or update the threaded rods to leadscrews than you can start looking at the others as well. I've never had a beta to know all of the differences but others on here have
Nov 21, 2016 at 4:09 PM - daniel871: LOL. Just got an email that the TIKO will be open for pre-order at their kickstarter price of $179 on Nov. 28th. Anyone getting one for an office paperweight?

Nov 23, 2016 4:19 AM - daniel871: Seeing as the kit is $699, yes? What is wrong with it?
    Nov 23, 2016 4:47 AM - JeffTheMess: morning robonauts

Nov 23, 2016 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: These guys are what every hack with a Prusa thinks they can be
    Nov 23, 2016 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Nov 23, 2016 5:31 AM - JeffTheMess: have you done prototyping with them before?
Nov 23, 2016 5:34 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah i'm also not too worried with price since my parts are tiny
    Nov 23, 2016 7:18 AM - toymaker: happy t-day minus 1
    Nov 23, 2016 7:36 AM - JeffTheMess: woohoo!
Nov 23, 2016 8:11 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, been using them for 15+ years for large product prototypes.. throw a coat of paint on them and you cant tell them from molded parts.. uber-high quality work.
Nov 23, 2016 8:21 AM - JeffTheMess: cool, need to send them an email then, looking for some protoyping, on a new thing im working on and don't need someone to run off with my ideas lol
Nov 23, 2016 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: im pretty sure they'll accept an STL though email
Nov 23, 2016 10:13 AM - Geof: Jeffthemess, my work has an SLA printer. (Form 2). I can set you up with them if need be.
Nov 23, 2016 10:13 AM - Geof: shoot a PM if needed (no worries if not, just offering :D )
Nov 23, 2016 10:15 AM - JeffTheMess: my brains is bubbling I should contact you...
Nov 23, 2016 11:48 AM - Gaurhoth: quick question. Having an issue with gaps in my extrusion. I printed a test piece at temps ranging from 220-185 and can see it throughout the print so appears to be mechanical.
Nov 23, 2016 11:48 AM - Gaurhoth: Tried a couple different filaments same thing.
    Nov 23, 2016 11:48 AM - Gaurhoth: http://i.imgur.com/Newl0fK.jpg
Nov 23, 2016 11:48 AM - Gaurhoth: So I opened up the area where the filament feeds in and dusted off the feeder there (but there wasn't much in it)
Nov 23, 2016 11:49 AM - Gaurhoth: It's not at retraction points. Those are all in the corners of that print
Nov 23, 2016 11:50 AM - Gaurhoth: Only thing I do notice is the grooves on that bolt that feeds the filament in isn't directly centered. Not sure how close it has to be to work right. http://i.imgur.com/PsCkpjE.jpg
Nov 23, 2016 11:50 AM - Gaurhoth: any ideas what I should be looking for?
Nov 23, 2016 12:16 PM - Geof: hi gaurhoth. I'd suggest starting a thread in the trouble shooting area (not many members use or look at the shoutbox for technical issues)
    Nov 23, 2016 12:21 PM - danzca6: Hey Geof
Nov 23, 2016 12:22 PM - danzca6: Yeah Gaurhoth sound like an extruder calibration issue
Nov 23, 2016 12:23 PM - danzca6: or at least a first step to see if it cures it
Nov 23, 2016 12:25 PM - Geof: hey Danz. Whats happenin
Nov 23, 2016 12:25 PM - danzca6: not a whole lot lately. looking to relax tomorrow
    Nov 23, 2016 12:26 PM - danzca6: I do have a question for you...
Nov 23, 2016 12:26 PM - danzca6: someone offered to sell me their MK2 kit (assembled now) for $620
Nov 23, 2016 12:27 PM - danzca6: kind of concerned about them shipping it assembled and if that would be a good deal after shipping
Nov 23, 2016 12:27 PM - danzca6: they printed like one thing on it I think
Nov 23, 2016 12:27 PM - Geof: personally...I dont think so. 620 plus at least 60 to ship puts you at 680.00 with no warranty. buying from prusa is 765 shipped with a spool of filament warranty and support :D
    Nov 23, 2016 12:27 PM - Geof: I'd offer them 400.00
Nov 23, 2016 12:28 PM - Geof: shipped. used printer is a used printer :D. No value in them....expecially when they are sub 1000 printers.
Nov 23, 2016 12:28 PM - danzca6: Yeah I offered 500 and no go...not having a warranty and having someone else build it worries me
Nov 23, 2016 12:28 PM - Geof: that said...if youve got the urge and your robo is still kickin in case something breaks so you can make a get by part...mayb e
Nov 23, 2016 12:29 PM - Geof: I've bought and sold a few used printers...getting someone elses work is always a treat lol. Not much to really screw up on the prusa build though so meh lol. I'd order from prusa, but then you woulnd't get it until probably after christmas. if you want it now see if they'd do 620 shipped.
    Nov 23, 2016 12:29 PM - danzca6: I can't believe this guy hates prusa so much...but love robo
Nov 23, 2016 12:30 PM - Geof: who hates prusa? Is this that guy on twitter? lol
    Nov 23, 2016 12:30 PM - danzca6: good guess...yes it is
Nov 23, 2016 12:30 PM - Geof: that guy is a mess...I'd pass on his machines lol.
    Nov 23, 2016 12:30 PM - danzca6: I know right...that is the other thing that concerns me
Nov 23, 2016 12:31 PM - Geof: he just hates on the cheap build of it. Mainly I think because he had to put ti togather and probably didn't do it right :D
Nov 23, 2016 12:31 PM - danzca6: I'd love it if prusa came to MRRF next year
Nov 23, 2016 12:32 PM - danzca6: It would be cool if he could bring a few printers for a build event over the weekend
Nov 23, 2016 12:32 PM - danzca6: that would be so much fun
    Nov 23, 2016 12:32 PM - danzca6: so...new job...how is that going?
Nov 23, 2016 12:33 PM - Geof: still workin the old one while I"m doing the new one until the old one gets somebody hired. Running the new job outa my house for the moment lol. 6 printer army plus a few of theirs for capacity.
Nov 23, 2016 12:35 PM - danzca6: wow...burning both ends of the candle...hopefully the extra pay is worth it
    Nov 23, 2016 12:35 PM - danzca6: no wonder I haven't seen you on here as much
Nov 23, 2016 12:36 PM - Geof: Lol its been crazy few weeks
Nov 23, 2016 12:36 PM - danzca6: Have you done much with the Form 2?
    Nov 23, 2016 12:39 PM - Geof: No. I hate resin.
    Nov 23, 2016 12:39 PM - danzca6: nasty stuff for sure
Nov 23, 2016 12:39 PM - Geof: its my old job (day job I guess at this point ) lol. They try to do a print shop thing ( not very well)
    Nov 23, 2016 12:40 PM - danzca6: did you see this on twitter? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cx9V4t4XAAUnXGv.jpg
Nov 23, 2016 12:40 PM - Geof: it sits....at least 90% of the time. I can get 50 micron prints all day on the 4 of the 6 machines I own... I honestly cant tell a difference between 50 and forms supposed 20.
Nov 23, 2016 12:41 PM - Geof: I did not. I'm like a week behind on the twitter lol. all my work has been proprietary this week. no fun pictures to share :D
Nov 23, 2016 12:41 PM - Geof: currently on security alarm board boxes.....BORING lol
Nov 23, 2016 12:41 PM - Geof: oh yea and the zortrax runs hatchbox, esun, ultimachine abs and colorfab xt lol
Nov 23, 2016 12:41 PM - danzca6: that print is amazing...single extruder, clear filament with an air gap in the model to create the design in the middle
Nov 23, 2016 12:42 PM - Geof: thats pretty slick!
Nov 23, 2016 12:42 PM - danzca6: I know right...my mind was blown when Daniel Noree told me how he did it
Nov 23, 2016 12:42 PM - Geof: people are insane with what they figure out how to do lol
Nov 23, 2016 12:43 PM - Geof: oh hey I found a negative on that prusa....
Nov 23, 2016 12:43 PM - Geof: no freakin lights lol.
Nov 23, 2016 12:43 PM - danzca6: yeah I am learning so much following folks on twitter
    Nov 23, 2016 12:43 PM - danzca6: hahaha
Nov 23, 2016 12:43 PM - Geof: next weekend when my new LEDS come in I'll throw a line on the frame lol
    Nov 23, 2016 12:43 PM - danzca6: no touch screen, no wifi...pos
Nov 23, 2016 12:44 PM - Geof: lol :D I'm not into the touch screen wifi watch your print over your cell nonsense :D.
    Nov 23, 2016 12:44 PM - Geof: I'm more mechanical...walk up push the buttons...print city....repeat lol
Nov 23, 2016 12:45 PM - danzca6: I like the techy stuff...but having a printer that just works is more important
Nov 23, 2016 12:45 PM - Geof: :D I've found an issue with having so many....there is always one causing you issues lol.
Nov 23, 2016 12:46 PM - Geof: I'm about to retire the ditto for a prusa with the multicolor.
Nov 23, 2016 12:46 PM - danzca6: has he started shipping the multi color yet
Nov 23, 2016 12:47 PM - Geof: end of the month I believe. I should get mine towards the end of december.
Nov 23, 2016 12:47 PM - Geof: that kit has been running production non stop....not sure I want to mess with it lol. Buying another one for play is probably a better idea.
Nov 23, 2016 12:47 PM - Geof: plus my ditto is a GIANT PAIN IN MY ASS lol.
Nov 23, 2016 12:48 PM - Geof: it needs to be revamped shortly. I just dont have the hours available to print out the parts lol
    Nov 23, 2016 12:48 PM - danzca6: nice, so you ordered already?
Nov 23, 2016 12:49 PM - Geof: the multicolor I did. Still waiting to decide on another Mk2 or not
Nov 23, 2016 12:51 PM - danzca6: I hope quality of those kits don't suffer from the high demand now
Nov 23, 2016 12:52 PM - Geof: to be honest....the print quality on the printed parts is more for strength than appearance. some required string clean up, hold clean up...the normal stuff with printed parts.
Nov 23, 2016 12:52 PM - Geof: I dont think they will have QA issues. The QA checklist and orginization to the kit was impressive to say the least.
Nov 23, 2016 12:53 PM - danzca6: yeah I've seen the checklists...I wish more companies included that and the test graphs showing everything worked out of the door
Nov 23, 2016 12:55 PM - Geof: I considered paying the extra to have a fully assembled one shipped so I can see the differences :D. but meh lol. mine works what more can ya ask eh
Nov 23, 2016 12:55 PM - Geof: plus if ya order just the kit you get out of import taxes and the what not lol.
    Nov 23, 2016 12:56 PM - danzca6: that is true
Nov 23, 2016 12:56 PM - danzca6: you have the skill to assemble it well and now it will be a lot faster your second time around
Nov 23, 2016 12:57 PM - Geof: lol first time probably would have gone smoother without all the beer breaks lol. bossman has a stacker I think I may bring home to play with for a little while. I like the 4 head idea
Nov 23, 2016 12:57 PM - Geof: (each extruder just prints a copy of the first )
Nov 23, 2016 12:58 PM - Geof: well Danz, I gotta run buddy. time to clock outa one job and into the other lol. might be on later tonight.
    Nov 23, 2016 12:59 PM - danzca6: have a great thanksgiving geof...if you are taking the time off...hopefully you are...take care buddy
Nov 23, 2016 2:36 PM - BryZad: Hey all hows things been going ?

Nov 25, 2016 7:28 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, does the sitewide 20% off also work on top of this?
Nov 25, 2016 7:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Nevermind all the 3D printers are part of the very long exclusions list. :(
Nov 25, 2016 9:12 AM - danzca6: Anyone still shopping for good filament deals, Makergeek.com has their grab bags 10% off with code BLACK10 giving you 4 KG for 13.50/kg. You pick the type but they pick the color.
Nov 25, 2016 9:14 AM - danzca6: Printed solid still has some rolls left of heavily discounted filament

Nov 26, 2016 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: actually, it does a really nice job of lighting up the property... i'm thinking I might make some year-round
Nov 26, 2016 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: the road to the guest house is kinda dark.. with all the holiday lights its a nifty drive
Nov 26, 2016 6:43 AM - danzca6: Having white is good all year round if needed
Nov 26, 2016 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: oh.. get this.. we met with the architect about the shop building... she said she would like me to include a yoga platform

Nov 26, 2016 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: oh, i can see her fine.. the problem is, so can half the valley! :)
    Nov 26, 2016 6:45 AM - danzca6: hahaha
Nov 26, 2016 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm still trying to decide if she's serious or just playing with me
Nov 26, 2016 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: started designing the door machine
Nov 26, 2016 6:47 AM - danzca6: tell her you will do it if you can put up some black out tinted glass walls around it
    Nov 26, 2016 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: hmmm
Nov 26, 2016 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. it's important that the view from the deck is considered... serenity and all
Nov 26, 2016 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: i've walked around.. stood on ladders... tried to find a suitable place for it.. but really, the top of the shop will have an awesome view
    Nov 26, 2016 6:48 AM - danzca6: maybe a pergola
Nov 26, 2016 6:49 AM - danzca6: depending if you are in a valley from where your other neighbors are I guess
Nov 26, 2016 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, i think I might make a patio-like deck along side my office...
Nov 26, 2016 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: i have one neighbor who would really be most affected... they wouldnt care but they have a seedy excon son that I keep a close eye on
    Nov 26, 2016 6:51 AM - danzca6: eek
Nov 26, 2016 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. he knows not to be in my vicinity
Nov 26, 2016 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: lives in a old eisenhower house down the road.. it's coming up for tax auction, i might buy it just to evict him out of the area :)
Nov 26, 2016 6:53 AM - danzca6: evicting can be tricky if he is renting
Nov 26, 2016 6:53 AM - danzca6: but good investment to have some control of who lives there
Nov 26, 2016 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe i doubt he's current on his rent
Nov 26, 2016 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: eisenhower homes are bottom-end... easy to fix up, easy to rent... be nice to find a older single lady to live there
Nov 26, 2016 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: 800 sq ft.. 1 br.. living, dining an kitchen all one big room..
Nov 26, 2016 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: city water.. septic
    Nov 26, 2016 6:57 AM - danzca6: nice...and it's close so easier to be landlord
Nov 26, 2016 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: i actually really like them... our guest house is an eisenhower.. was the original house on the property
Nov 26, 2016 6:58 AM - Bill Monroe: perfect for a single retired person
Nov 26, 2016 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: there's one on a lot next to the airport... before I met 2.0 i was seriously thinking about putting up an oversize hanger next to it
Nov 26, 2016 7:01 AM - danzca6: not sure I would want to live that close to an airport
Nov 26, 2016 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. not for everyone.. :)
Nov 26, 2016 7:12 AM - danzca6: Well it's time to haul the tree into the family room and start the decorating...take care Bill
Nov 26, 2016 7:16 AM - Bill Monroe: have fun

    Nov 28, 2016 at 9:33 AM - daniel871: Anybody interested in pre-ordering a $200 office ornament? https://tiko3d.com/
    Nov 28, 2016 at 9:47 AM - JeffTheMess: just what I needed
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:22 AM - danzca6: Daniel, at that price, the MP Select Mini from Amazon is only $189 right now and better reviews :) http://a.co/9Q3mHwD
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:22 AM - daniel871: Meanwhile, the developers of that kickstarter delta have published the first draft of their user manual. https://emergin.net/download/user-manual/
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:23 AM - daniel871: I know. Any time you see me post about the Tiko it's a joke.
    Nov 28, 2016 at 10:23 AM - danzca6: or your Select V2 is only $259 http://a.co/1AqPXTV
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:23 AM - danzca6: I was online with JATMN last night and the prints were a complete and total joke off of the Tiko
    Nov 28, 2016 at 10:23 AM - daniel871: Have you bought that V2 yet?
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:24 AM - daniel871: Because you should join the better i3 clone club.
    Nov 28, 2016 at 10:24 AM - danzca6: I have not...no funds at the moment
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:24 AM - danzca6: $259 w/prime shipping is hard to pass up if one has the cash
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:25 AM - danzca6: microswiss has 10% off their all metal MK10 for it as well
    Nov 28, 2016 at 10:26 AM - danzca6: I see prusa is 5-6 week leadtime now
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:27 AM - danzca6: you going to get that delta before christmas?
    Nov 28, 2016 at 10:28 AM - JeffTheMess: i'd hope so
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:30 AM - daniel871: I might. The last direct email on the subject I got was that you'd get an email with tracking info once they got to your backer number and sent it out.
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:32 AM - daniel871: First mod I see myself doing out of the gate is installing the old Bondtech V2 and planetary stepper I have leftover from the Robo to drive the Bowden setup instead of that MK8 and regular stepper.
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:33 AM - JeffTheMess: Have you scrapped the robo completely
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:33 AM - daniel871: Anybody here do any regular old woodworking? How does this thing look for hobby-level jointing/planing? http://www.rockler.com/jet-10-jointer-planer-combo-w-open-stand
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:34 AM - daniel871: Oh yeah, the Robo has long since been scrapped for everything except the stuff I bought on my own trying to fix the original bad components.
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:39 AM - JeffTheMess: ah ok
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:39 AM - JeffTheMess: has anyone here got the "newest" robo yet?
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:42 AM - daniel871: Which one is that? Some yet-again revision of the R1?
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:43 AM - JeffTheMess: wait, I'm lost in time the mini ships out dec-Jan
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:46 AM - daniel871: It better ship before my kickstarter delta ships, because I backed that delta in April and might get it by Christmas.
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:47 AM - daniel871: Meanwhile, Robo has been claiming to ship their new printers since "Winter 2014" and haven't delivered yet.
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:48 AM - JeffTheMess: good ol' robo
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:49 AM - daniel871: It's going to be really funny if the kickstarter delta ends up shipping sooner and outperforming the R2.
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:50 AM - daniel871: Maybe not as funny as that MPMSi3v2 I have doing the same thing to the R1 though.
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:51 AM - JeffTheMess: since when has robo had live chat?
    Nov 28, 2016 at 10:55 AM - daniel871: ?
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:58 AM - JeffTheMess: on the main website
    Nov 28, 2016 at 10:58 AM - danzca6: that's been there for awhile...never tried using it
Nov 28, 2016 at 10:59 AM - JeffTheMess: really? I always come straight here never noticed
    Nov 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM - danzca6: right...I know...rarely go to their homepage anymore
Nov 28, 2016 at 11:05 AM - daniel871: It's either a chatbot or they implemented a support chat line to their support staff.
Nov 28, 2016 at 11:06 AM - daniel871: Someone ask it what it thinks of hitler, that'll determine whether it is a bot or not.
    Nov 28, 2016 at 11:08 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Nov 28, 2016 at 11:09 AM - JeffTheMess: I tried printing Heil Hilter but it didnt work can you help
    Nov 28, 2016 at 11:13 AM - daniel871: "Hitler did nothing wrong"

Nov 29, 2016 at 5:43 AM - daniel871: Kickstarter delta drama on their forums. Apparently the "E3D" they're using is a derivative/clone and not a genuine E3D hotend. They've removed mentions of E3D from their kickstarter page and things have gotten mysteriously quiet on their forums.
Nov 29, 2016 at 5:46 AM - daniel871: As long as I get a solid frame and the Arduino/Ramps/etc. are in good shape I'll be fine, I have a v6+PT100 waiting for a printer to mount it to and a Bondtech to replace their stock extruder with so I'm not too worried, but it would be pretty frustrating if I didn't intend to use them on that frame.
Nov 29, 2016 at 6:42 AM - Geof: :D meh its still an E3D just not THE E3D lol. Sounds like the almightly dollar got ahold of your kickstarter :D
    Nov 29, 2016 at 6:57 AM - daniel871: Eh.
Nov 29, 2016 at 6:58 AM - daniel871: I think the biggest PITA will be in designing up and printing an effector for carrying the genuine E3D with the sensor and setting things up.
Nov 29, 2016 at 6:59 AM - daniel871: Since I'm sure just any old effector on Thingiverse probably won't work with however they designed their setup.
Nov 29, 2016 at 8:02 AM - Geof: I'd imagine you could figure out the modification pretty easily and post it for other users ?
    Nov 29, 2016 at 8:22 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but why would I?
Nov 29, 2016 at 9:26 AM - Geof: lol dont have to :D if you dont want to be open source you dont have to :D

Nov 29, 2016 at 9:40 AM - WheresWaldo: I printed a bunch of mods for my Cooler Master Maker 5 case. It gathered the attention of Cooler Master US and they sent me a bunch of stuff to test.
    Nov 29, 2016 at 9:40 AM - danzca6: That's awesome
Nov 29, 2016 at 9:41 AM - JeffTheMess: I have to see these mods
Nov 29, 2016 at 9:41 AM - WheresWaldo: I was just fooling around since I had to build a new PC. Now it is just an effort to finish it all up. At the same time doing all the stuff for the Robo and rebuilding my daughters PC.
Nov 29, 2016 at 9:44 AM - JeffTheMess: just get the R2 and be done with it
Nov 29, 2016 at 9:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Only if they send me one for free. Besides I have a couple of ideas on how to get that R2/C2 interface to work on the R1.
Nov 29, 2016 at 9:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Just waiting on a Waveshare 3.5" touchscreen for my RPi2
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan you still here?
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:04 AM - danzca6: I am
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:05 AM - WheresWaldo: I am testing today's build of Marlin. The LCD screen has some readability improvements
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:06 AM - JeffTheMess: if you have been doing so much for them they should send you one free.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:06 AM - danzca6: I'd love to try that on the XXL to see if it improves like the Full Graphics display. I have both now
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:06 AM - danzca6: funny how Robo has a lot of contests to win a robo r2/c2 but I haven't heard any announcements of who the winners are
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Plus I don't remember this, but it seems that MESH starts every point at Z0 so all my adjustments are now positive numbers.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:07 AM - danzca6: yes, that is what it was for me when I did it on the november versions
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:07 AM - WheresWaldo: It is supposed to work on the XXL, or at least smallfont and bigfont work. When they say Big font they mean big. I can now read some setting screens clear across the room.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:08 AM - danzca6: I'll have to try both again then
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:08 AM - WheresWaldo: So the Info screen uses the new small font and the individual settings use big font. I can send you my setup files.
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Send me an email (b u d . h a m m e r t o n @ g m a i l . c o m) and I will respond with the zip.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:11 AM - danzca6: with the mesh, starting at z0, that is why I had to set the MESH_HOME_SEARCH_Z to higher than 4 since the IR triggers above the bed. I need it around 9 or 10 to have enough adjustment
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:11 AM - danzca6: will do
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:11 AM - WheresWaldo: There is an uncommented easter egg I shoved in Version.h
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Are you using the Official Robo lead screws?
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:13 AM - danzca6: I am
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:14 AM - danzca6: an easter egg ... interesting
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:15 AM - danzca6: email sent
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:16 AM - WheresWaldo: Sent
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:18 AM - WheresWaldo: If you have any screen corruption then increase the delay. It is line #475 in Configuration_adv.h DOGM_SPI_DELAY_US, default is 10 uS and I set it to 5 uS per the conversation on GITHUB.
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:19 AM - danzca6: ok...man...5x5 mesh...I will have to get my guage out again ;)
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:19 AM - WheresWaldo: Screen is not a continuous readout now, but small print moves seem smoother. and the screen still updates faster than once per second.
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:20 AM - danzca6: I'll check it out tonight
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Nice thing is they striped the screen so there is no flicker and it only updates the section that changed.
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:20 AM - danzca6: I wish I had a printer at work...something to do over lunch
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:21 AM - danzca6: I don't look at the screen a lot during print, but it sounds like these changes have given more processing cycles back to the operation of the printer and that is also great
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:21 AM - WheresWaldo: With only one printer I cannot test as much as I like. Today's test print is an eight hour dinosaur phone holder my wife wanted.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:22 AM - danzca6: Well if the wife wants it, then it is priority
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:22 AM - WheresWaldo: That was the whole idea. Give more back to printing.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:23 AM - WheresWaldo: With the settings I enabled, the devs calculate there are 300,000 cpu cycles saved per screen update. provided it is not throttled in any way.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:24 AM - danzca6: probably more benifitial for the deltas, but every bit helps
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:25 AM - WheresWaldo: I am going to play with MESH fade next. I didn't set it up for this print. You can't seem to set a default value but M420 will set it from g-code.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:25 AM - danzca6: HAHAHA...I wonder if Robo is reading this....just got a tweet announcing one of their R2 contest winners
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Hmm, interesting. I don't follow their twitter feed.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:27 AM - danzca6: M420 used to not be just to enable or disable bed leveling
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:27 AM - WheresWaldo: I need Robo to fix something on the OctoPrint RoboTheme. there are spacing issues with multiple browsers. That must all be using Macs and Safari.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:28 AM - WheresWaldo: It is a new parameter M420 Zn.nn is the fade value.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:28 AM - danzca6: PLANNER_LEVELING also neede to be enabled for M420 to even be available
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:28 AM - danzca6: I'll have to check that out
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Here is all they say about it // Gradually reduce leveling correction until a set height is reached, // at which point movement will be level to the machine's XY plane. // The height can be set with M420 Z<height> #define ENABLE_LEVELING_FADE_HEIGHT
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:31 AM - WheresWaldo: It is enabled by default in MESH and ABL BILINEAR.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:32 AM - JeffTheMess: how do I know if my robo can do mesh?
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:32 AM - danzca6: do you have the new Marlin version installed for MESH?
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:33 AM - danzca6: It's not included on the Robo downloadable firmware versions
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:33 AM - JeffTheMess: nope
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:33 AM - JeffTheMess: Its the one Waldo working on right
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:33 AM - danzca6: WW has a thread in the mods section with the MESH versions
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:34 AM - danzca6: I would recommend it over ABL
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:34 AM - JeffTheMess: do you have the link
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Last version I posted was from 15-NOV-16 and it is in the MArlin 1.1.0 thread
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:35 AM - danzca6: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...st-rc7-for-r1-r1-plus.5806/page-43#post-96946
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:35 AM - danzca6: Jeff do you have an LCD?
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:35 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:37 AM - JeffTheMess: so whats different about it other than, the mesh leveling?
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:37 AM - danzca6: ok then setting up mesh will be easy
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:37 AM - JeffTheMess: so whats different about it other than, the mesh leveling?
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:38 AM - JeffTheMess: and what is babystepping? is the res improved overall?
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:38 AM - WheresWaldo: There are a ton of code improvements, too many to mention
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:38 AM - danzca6: there are a lot of improvements
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:38 AM - danzca6: babystepping helps with mesh so you can finely position each probe point
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Babystepping will allow you to microadjust the first layer while it is printing. I almost never use it
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:39 AM - JeffTheMess: sounds exciting
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Once MESH is set up you do not really need to micro-adjust the first layer height. It is there only for anal types that have more time than sense.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:40 AM - WheresWaldo: I really should set it back to the default disabled
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:41 AM - JeffTheMess: and MESH is automatic or its manually adjusting it by hand?
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:41 AM - WheresWaldo: But it is helpful for ABL since ABL still sucks, but is better than it was. It just sucks less.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:41 AM - JeffTheMess: lol works for me
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Mesh is set up once then stored to memory. At that point it is always there.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:42 AM - WheresWaldo: So you can't just load the firmware and print. You have to load the firmware then set up MESH.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:42 AM - JeffTheMess: ah ok
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Then test print, use an adjustment if necessary, then never touch MESH again.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Simple instructions are on the web, someone else should do a video on the procedure.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:44 AM - JeffTheMess: should be fun
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:45 AM - WheresWaldo: I even think there might be a post or two here explaining how to do it, but good luck finding anything on this forum.
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:49 AM - JeffTheMess:
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Not helpful other than the commentary. I already have this all set up. The video needs to be the actual procedure to get it done, not how to enable it.
    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:52 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, i'll find it
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Even though it is actually pretty easy to do, there are a lot of steps. It is harder to explain than to accomplish.
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:53 AM - JeffTheMess: something I will have time for over the weekend
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I would love to change the opening Marlin logo to that fugly "robo" font on the opening splash screen, but am too lazy to create one myself and test it.

    Nov 29, 2016 at 10:55 AM - danzca6: I'll do it
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:55 AM - danzca6: I already tried, but then realized it wouldn't work on my XXL
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Does the XXL not show the splash screen?
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:56 AM - danzca6: It's a text one that I just need to play more with. The way I was doing it was for the full graphics
Nov 29, 2016 at 10:58 AM - danzca6: you want the new Robo logo or the old?
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:01 AM - WheresWaldo: I would guess the new one
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:03 AM - JeffTheMess: has anyone tried using just one stepper for the Z axis?
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:05 AM - danzca6: ah...why would you want to do that?
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Possible but you need a way to route the belt around all the crap they mount to the bottom of the printer. More trouble than it is worth, IMHO.
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:08 AM - JeffTheMess: I have a friend who is having"sync" issues where both stepper wouldn't be aligned correctly...he left it on over night and broke his bed (diy printer not a robo) so I'd think you can reduce that type of error by have just one stronger stepper and wont ever have that issue
    Nov 29, 2016 at 11:08 AM - WheresWaldo:
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Oops I guess that tag doen't work in shoutbox.
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:08 AM - JeffTheMess: everything would be more equal I guess
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:09 AM - WheresWaldo: JtM the link I posted explains how to do MESH. There is one incorrect statement at the end about MESH going away each restart, but it is basically all there.
    Nov 29, 2016 at 11:10 AM - WheresWaldo:
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:10 AM - JeffTheMess: nice thanks!
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:11 AM - danzca6: yeah just make sure to issue an M500 after you are done to truely save the settings
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:12 AM - JeffTheMess: can't open the link until I get home work computer wont allow me to open those links
    Nov 29, 2016 at 11:50 AM - Toro1966: Afternoon all
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:51 AM - daniel871: Anyone local to New York want to buy a Stratasys Dimension for $2,750? http://www.ebay.com/itm/P05224-Stra...520465?hash=item2a750ea511:g:Nt0AAOSwZVlXqe4y
Nov 29, 2016 at 11:53 AM - JeffTheMess: well damn thats a deal
Nov 29, 2016 at 12:13 PM - WheresWaldo: There are many cheaper ones listed on eBay, also at least one converted to open source.
Nov 29, 2016 at 12:19 PM - WheresWaldo: Well at least two cheaper. The one converted to Repetier is interesting,
Nov 29, 2016 at 12:25 PM - daniel871: I like the one converted to Repetier saying "The machine will not perform nor behave like a genuine stratasys machine. "
Nov 29, 2016 at 6:12 PM - danzca6: WheresWaldo, what do you think of my custom startup screen? https://twitter.com/danzca6/status/803781774136446982
Nov 29, 2016 at 6:22 PM - danzca6: If anyone is interested in how to make your own startup splash screen, I can do a write-up
