Dec 22, 2016 at 5:54 AM - kevin wilson: morning
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:55 AM - kevin wilson: anyone know where i can change the acceleration and jerk in the robo 3d.
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: you have to modify the firmware
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:06 AM - kevin wilson: yeah no idea how to do that, i have a simple basic idea, firmware is software for the hardware that makes it run. not sure how to change it
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:06 AM - kevin wilson: i'm sloshing through the forums
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: its not hard to learn but it'll take awhile
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:07 AM - kevin wilson: i have a robo 3d plus, i have not touched the firmware, i have only installed a control board
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:09 AM - kevin wilson: had it for about a year, was pretty happy with it, just printed a benchy to try to get it as good as i can
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: mine's a 2014 model.. i made a number of changes/upgrades inclusing firmware tweaks but it's beenover a year and I'd have to refresh my knowldege to mess with firmware again
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:09 AM - kevin wilson: maybe if i search how to update firmware instead of accelration
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: just make sure you aquire and keep a copy of what it's running right now so you can take it back to working if you mess it up
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:11 AM - kevin wilson: oh yeah, save a clean version,
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:56 AM - kevin wilson: anyone know if arduino 1.8 is good to use, there is a note that says dont use 1.6.1 use 1.6.9 which is the older version
Dec 22, 2016 at 6:56 AM - kevin wilson: but guessing thats outdated
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:00 AM - Bill Monroe: i have no idea which version was on your machine originally, post a question in the forums, somone will tell you and maybe, they'll be right :)
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:13 AM - kevin wilson: lol
    Dec 22, 2016 at 7:18 AM - Toro1966: Mornin all
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:22 AM - kevin wilson: hi
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:33 AM - kevin wilson: well i found the code i want to change. Now how to figure out how to download a clean version from my printer so in case all this sucks i can put it back
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:36 AM - Toro1966: Is it the stock Robo? Have you made changes to it before?
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:37 AM - Toro1966: Assuming you haven't changed it before, you can go into MC and it will tell you the name of the current firmware
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:45 AM - kevin wilson: yeah i havn't done anything to it yet
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:45 AM - kevin wilson: I did see one spot that said you can use MC to update some stuff
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:45 AM - kevin wilson: i havn't looked that way yet
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:46 AM - kevin wilson: firmware wise its stock robo plus. I only added a control board but did not have to change anything worked right out
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:46 AM - daniel871: You could also use an M205 command to set the jerk settings in a particular program without modifying the firmware.
    Dec 22, 2016 at 7:49 AM - daniel871: So like "M205 X15" to change X/Y jerk to 15mm/s/s/s
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:51 AM - daniel871: Likewise, you can change regular mm/s/s acceleration with M204 and P# for printing moves, T# for Travel moves and R# for retraction moves.
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:52 AM - daniel871: So "M204 P800" would set printing acceleration to 800mm/s/s until you reached the target mm/s speed.
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:53 AM - daniel871: Doing that in your starting Gcode makes it easy to do tweaks with your programs until you find the settings you like, then either doing a firmware update to actually lock them in or just save that starting Gcode in your slicer and pray you never lose them.
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:03 AM - Toro1966: Yep - that will work. Since you are using the stock firmware, I wouldn't worry about ruining it, you can always download a fresh file, or there are several of us that probably have it as well.
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:04 AM - kevin wilson: ohhh
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:05 AM - kevin wilson: to set a max acceleration would be similar?
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:06 AM - Toro1966: Have to check the gcode to confirm. http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code
    Dec 22, 2016 at 8:06 AM - Toro1966: Try that link
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:07 AM - kevin wilson: i made benchy, it was pretty good. Wording on bottom didn't seem to really come through. A tiny bit off on the top middle arches, and the front due to i believe cooling fans but wanted to tone down the acceleration to help decrease some of the lines
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:07 AM - Toro1966: The nice thing with sending the commands to set it temporarily is you can always go back to stock with one command.
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:08 AM - kevin wilson: If i set it at the front start of Gcode, it will only run for that one print yes,
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:08 AM - Toro1966: It is a little daunting for a new user - and I was just one about 4-5 months ago - but I recommend downloading and installing the Mesh firmware when you think you are up to it. It is super simple, and is SOOOOO much better than the stock firmware.
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:09 AM - Toro1966: Nope, if you set it at the front in the g code, it will set it for every print. Because your printer goes through the startup gcode each time. What you can do is send the code via the terminal. To get to the terminal I believe it's settings and controls, and then options in MC.
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:11 AM - Toro1966: if you don't like the new settings, just send M502 via terminal and it will revert to the default firmware settings.
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:11 AM - kevin wilson: oh yea, but i can delete it out of the startup code then i'm good
    Dec 22, 2016 at 8:12 AM - Toro1966: yep. absolutely.
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:12 AM - Toro1966: If you have an LCD, I also believe you can change it there as well. G o to the motion tab
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:12 AM - Toro1966: I think that's it - I'd have to go look at mine to be sure
    Dec 22, 2016 at 8:35 AM - kevin wilson: yeah i have a lcd, 4 lines, basic
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:35 AM - kevin wilson: well thats enough new info for my head before work,
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:53 AM - daniel871: Yeah, if you have an LCD you can just go into the motion sub-menu.
Dec 22, 2016 at 8:53 AM - daniel871: Anyway, here, have a funny image the illustrates why you need to be at least a little careful about the fonts/decoration design you use. [IMG]
    Dec 22, 2016 at 5:22 PM - Toro1966: evening al
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:22 PM - Geof: Hey toro
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:27 PM - Toro1966: Hey Geof - going to start learning how to do some 3d modeling. Any idea where to start?
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:27 PM - Geof: Hmmmm what software you going for ?
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:27 PM - Toro1966: While I can print the crap out of other's files, I have never created one myself. I do have fusion 360 installed.
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:29 PM - Geof: Chaos core tech has some decent videos on his YouTube showing some basics. Auto desk has some good getting started videos on their site as well
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:32 PM - Toro1966: I'll take a look. I need to learn how to do it. Biggest thing now to be honest is I have a bunch of faily and friends that want logo stuff printed. While I can find a lot fo the teams,e tc online at thingiverse, I can't find all of them.
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:32 PM - Toro1966: Wish there was aneasy way to make a logo a 3d file.
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:34 PM - Geof: Hmmmm best way I've done it is import the image into fusion then model a 2d layout over it then just use the push/pull function and viola lol
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:38 PM - Toro1966: I'm going to have to learn how to do that. I need to make a Seattle Sounders Logo Coaster.
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:44 PM - Geof: Take it one step at a time buddy, it just takes some practice :)
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:45 PM - Toro1966: Lol. I don't do slow well :) . So when I import the image in fusion 360, I have to trace around it in order to extrude correct? Is there a way to do that automatically so I don't have to trace it with lines?
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:47 PM - Geof: Lol I don't either buddy, i don't know how to make it auto stencil but if you figure it out ping me lol I'd like to know!
    Dec 22, 2016 at 5:48 PM - Toro1966: Will do!
Dec 22, 2016 at 5:49 PM - Geof: If you figure it out I'll gmax you a print as payment lol
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:03 PM - Toro1966: LOl. Still learning but I found out you can save the logo as an EPS or SVG file. I found a Sounders EPS logo file which I then converted to SVG and you CAN import and extrude the SVG in Fusion 360 :)
    Dec 22, 2016 at 7:03 PM - Toro1966: It's going to work greatq!
    Dec 22, 2016 at 7:03 PM - Toro1966: No manually drawing!
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:54 PM - kevin wilson: toro you still on?
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:55 PM - kevin wilson: auto desk good video for you
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:56 PM - kevin wilson: shows you how to take a file and and make it so you can add a name to it, similar to logo. I put my teams paintball logo onto a hopper
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:57 PM - kevin wilson: take a look at importing eps files. It can take a 2d file and extrude it for you so you dont need to build it,
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:58 PM - kevin wilson: sorry svg files
Dec 22, 2016 at 7:59 PM - kevin wilson: basic version decent place to start as well

Dec 23, 2016 3:31 AM - Bill Monroe: Good Morning
Dec 23, 2016 10:42 AM - Toro1966: Hey guys anyone know much about fusion 360?
Dec 23, 2016 12:18 PM - WheresWaldo: Toro, what do you want to know?
    Dec 23, 2016 12:40 PM - Toro1966: Hey Waldo
Dec 23, 2016 12:41 PM - Toro1966: I imported an SVG into Fusion 360, extruded it, and created a coaster. It looks great on screen and when I import it into S3D. When it is sliced, however, some of the letterting is not correct. I ran through Netfabb but have the same results. W as wondering if someone had an idea what might be wrong
Dec 23, 2016 12:44 PM - WheresWaldo: Hmm, I import SVG files all the time when I need to add a logo to a part I am designing. Do you know if the SVG format is version 1.0 or 1.1? Not sure it makes a difference I just know all mine are SVG 1.1
Dec 23, 2016 12:45 PM - Toro1966: I assume it's the later. It was transformed from EPS using one of those online cloud converters. Here is a pic of how it looks in S3D and then how it looks sliced. Look at the letters.
Dec 23, 2016 12:46 PM - WheresWaldo: Also S3D although we all praise it, is not perfect. What if you rotate the item a few degrees then slice it. I have found that on a few rare models it can have a profound effect on the output.
    Dec 23, 2016 12:46 PM - Toro1966: [IMG][/url]
Dec 23, 2016 12:46 PM - WheresWaldo: Okay, that is before slicing.
    Dec 23, 2016 12:46 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Dec 23, 2016 12:47 PM - Toro1966: File looks fine in Fusion
Dec 23, 2016 12:47 PM - WheresWaldo: My guess is that the walls are too thin to print.
Dec 23, 2016 12:48 PM - Toro1966: Hmm. How would I fix that? Make the logo bigger?
    Dec 23, 2016 12:48 PM - Toro1966: I have seen S3D slice some pretty thin pieces before
Dec 23, 2016 12:48 PM - WheresWaldo: In the very first process tab, there is a parameter called Extrusion Width. I am sure you have yours set to Auto. Is that correct?
    Dec 23, 2016 12:49 PM - Toro1966: Yep.
Dec 23, 2016 12:50 PM - WheresWaldo: Auto, is based on several mathematical factors and with a .4 nozzle it defaults to something between 0.48 to 0.52 if I recall correctly.
Dec 23, 2016 12:52 PM - Toro1966: Very true. What can I set it at realisitically and expect a good print. For a test, I dropped it down in manual and sliced it and it shows more now - not all of the letters, but more. Should I enlarge the logo?
Dec 23, 2016 12:52 PM - WheresWaldo: Sometimes you can fool S3D into thinking that it is smaller and it will print those thin lines, but you need to watch for things like too much overlap or over-extrusion. If you change it to manual you may need to tweak the another parameter or two to get full coverage on bottom and top layers or with 100% infill.
Dec 23, 2016 12:54 PM - WheresWaldo: Ideally there is a lower limit to just how thin a line you can print. In my case there were a few bicycle company logos I had to 'customize' so that while not an exact representation they were still recognizable. Or you could just make it bigger.
Dec 23, 2016 12:55 PM - Toro1966: What is "too low" of a width to set it at? Is there a general rule?
Dec 23, 2016 12:56 PM - Toro1966: I am literally just getting started with the software and cad piece. I know nothing. I am looking to vectorize some logos, etc, do you use PS and AI?
Dec 23, 2016 12:56 PM - WheresWaldo: With intra-layer adhesion a requirement, the practical limit might be something like 0.45 mm extrusion width, the real world measurement might be closer to 0.48 mm
Dec 23, 2016 12:56 PM - WheresWaldo: This is all slicer, the CAD program wouldn't have mattered in this case.
Dec 23, 2016 12:56 PM - Toro1966: Ok - definitely need to increase the size of the logo then.
Dec 23, 2016 12:58 PM - Toro1966: One more question - I imported the SVG into Fusion. All the lettering shows up on the flat plane, but there is one letter that is not selectable to be extruded - if that makes sense. I can see it, and I can select the lines of the letter, but it won't select the actual letter. I have a vid of what I am talking about
Dec 23, 2016 12:58 PM - WheresWaldo: If it is set to auto just look at what S3D thinks it should be. You can look in the beginning of any sliced file (gcode) and the width it calculates is listed in the beginning somewhere. Again this is from memory.
Dec 23, 2016 12:59 PM - Toro1966: Thanks. I had to reduce the width to .25 before it would slice the letters correctly. Which tells me I probably need to enlarge the logo - correct?
Dec 23, 2016 12:59 PM - WheresWaldo: Fusion doesn't think that particular letter is a close polygon, so you can only select the various chords, I don't know how to fix that in Fusion, I would fix it in Adobe Illustrator or equivalent instead.
Dec 23, 2016 1:00 PM - WheresWaldo: Yep to your latest question.
Dec 23, 2016 1:01 PM - Toro1966: What do you use? I don't have illustrator. Is there a free program that I can use to do that? I don't want to subscribe to Adobe until I know I'll actually use it.
Dec 23, 2016 1:01 PM - WheresWaldo: You could always buy some 0.2 or 0.1 nozzles and those can print much thinner line, of course all your prints would take forever.
    Dec 23, 2016 1:01 PM - WheresWaldo: I own Illustrator
    Dec 23, 2016 1:02 PM - Toro1966: I didn't think you could buy it anymore?
Dec 23, 2016 1:03 PM - WheresWaldo: If you look at a Gcode file produced by S3D with the Extrusion Width set to auto, somewhere about line 16 you will see something like this "; extruderWidth,0.46"
Dec 23, 2016 1:03 PM - WheresWaldo: I have an older copy. it still works.
Dec 23, 2016 1:04 PM - WheresWaldo: I just don't know of any free SVG editors, but I am sure Google might.
Dec 23, 2016 1:04 PM - Toro1966: Ahh. Is there a Gcode editor I can view the script in S3D?
    Dec 23, 2016 1:04 PM - Toro1966: Lol
Dec 23, 2016 1:05 PM - WheresWaldo: GCODE is plain text, I use Notepad++ because Windows Notepad and Windows Word sucks.
    Dec 23, 2016 1:05 PM - WheresWaldo: Notepad++ is free
    Dec 23, 2016 1:08 PM - Toro1966: Got it - thanks Waldo!
Dec 23, 2016 1:09 PM - WheresWaldo: No problem, just wasn't really a Fusion 360 issue after all.
    Dec 23, 2016 1:10 PM - Toro1966: Nope - was a me issue :)
Dec 23, 2016 1:11 PM - WheresWaldo: Naw, you had all the pieces just didn't put the jigsaw puzzle together completely
    Dec 23, 2016 1:23 PM - Toro1966: Thanks agaiN!

Dec 24, 2016 at 7:14 AM - Toro1966: LOl. I've lived in Monterey before for a few years. Lucky for me my son graduates High School this year so I don't have to worry about the crappy schools!

Dec 24, 2016 at 7:16 AM - Toro1966: High school is actually pretty good. Elementary was horrible.

    Dec 26, 2016 6:21 AM - Allelujah: Good Morning everyone :D
    Dec 26, 2016 1:13 PM - kevin wilson: hihi
Dec 26, 2016 2:25 PM - jensax: Hello, I can't seem to get the filament to load. I am not handy person savvy enough to understand how to find that tiny hole or to take apart the head. Any quick fixes here? Posting to forum, too.
Dec 26, 2016 2:27 PM - kevin wilson: is it replacing old filament or first load?
Dec 26, 2016 2:30 PM - jensax: Hello, replacing - ran out of previous pla and now want to put in new pla.
Dec 26, 2016 2:33 PM - kevin wilson: Ok so, first you want to make sure nozzle is clear, heat up the head, and then the there is a long allen wrench that came with the printer, that is about the thickness of the pla
Dec 26, 2016 2:34 PM - kevin wilson: two fingers on the screws, push back on the black pieace, then slide down the allen wrench should help push through any left over pla
Dec 26, 2016 2:34 PM - kevin wilson: then you can slide the new one in
Dec 26, 2016 2:34 PM - kevin wilson: When you take out PLA, you should Heat up the Print Head, then when its Hot, Take it and push down a tiny bit then pull straight out fast
    Dec 26, 2016 2:34 PM - jensax: ok
Dec 26, 2016 2:36 PM - kevin wilson: SO there is a roller that the black wheel spins, but if there is a piece of plastic below that, then it won't help, thats why you need to push it down
Dec 26, 2016 2:36 PM - kevin wilson: once you clear it a bit the new pla should go in, and you can use the wheel again
Dec 26, 2016 2:38 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
Dec 26, 2016 2:42 PM - kevin wilson: hey bill
Dec 26, 2016 2:43 PM - Bill Monroe: Hi Kev,, santa good to you?
Dec 26, 2016 2:44 PM - jensax: Thanks Kevin. Will see what happens. Many appreciations.
Dec 26, 2016 2:45 PM - kevin wilson: yeah pretty decent, happy kids
Dec 26, 2016 2:45 PM - kevin wilson: only two kids in two families, i have 2 brothers my wife 2 sisters and 1 brother, my kids only grandkids spoiled
Dec 26, 2016 2:45 PM - kevin wilson: is understatement
    Dec 26, 2016 2:45 PM - kevin wilson: you?
    Dec 26, 2016 2:46 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm married to 2.0.. it's xmas everyday :)
    Dec 26, 2016 2:46 PM - kevin wilson: lol
    Dec 26, 2016 2:47 PM - kevin wilson: you know g-code? If I want to set max acceleration or at least avg is it m204 300 ;
Dec 26, 2016 2:47 PM - Bill Monroe: spent it in Joshua Tree.. got a little snow. Kids came by with their kids, then left. spent evenings in the jacuzzi with 2.0, her sister and niece surrounded by snow.. pretty nice few days
    Dec 26, 2016 2:47 PM - kevin wilson: nice
Dec 26, 2016 2:48 PM - kevin wilson: did the boat, want to possibly clean up a few lines, and had a cooling issue just on the very front of the boat, think that is all set, but read that turning down the acceleration helps,
Dec 26, 2016 2:48 PM - Bill Monroe: no, dont know gcode that well.. my settings are in the firmware and I've not looked at ot for over a year
Dec 26, 2016 2:48 PM - kevin wilson: and that instead of doing it in adrino, which i found, i would rather just do it in the start g code

Dec 28, 2016 at 7:06 PM - kevin wilson: nope no on ehere
Dec 28, 2016 at 7:11 PM - kevin wilson: anyone know if i wanted to set my acceleration if i added M204 P500 T500 R5000; would work in my start gcode?
Dec 28, 2016 at 7:12 PM - kevin wilson: i got on the forums somehwere that the acceleration by default was high, and should be lowered a bit. so was looking to set it at 500
Dec 28, 2016 at 7:13 PM - Bill Monroe: best thing to do it stry it
Dec 28, 2016 at 7:13 PM - Bill Monroe: is try it

Dec 29, 2016 at 8:45 AM - Toro1966: Hey guys - Printing a multi piece print and scaled the first piece in S3D. It's printing now no problem. But I forget how much I scaled it lol. Is there a way to look in the g code and see how much I scaled it?
Dec 29, 2016 at 8:52 AM - Geof: dont know about the gcode as all slicers handle it differently. I've always measured, then taken the measurement of nominal size and did the math
Dec 29, 2016 at 8:57 AM - Toro1966: Geof - not sure I'm following. I get I can measure the finished product, but how do I measure the default model or the model on the screen in S3D? Is there a ruler in there?
Dec 29, 2016 at 9:05 AM - Toro1966: Ok - nevermind. Feel like a chucklehead. I see the measurements in the scaling window....thanks!
Dec 29, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Toro1966: So now I'll just compare default with the final printed one.
Dec 29, 2016 at 9:06 AM - Geof: lol awesome
Dec 29, 2016 at 10:17 AM - Allelujah: Good afternoon everyone. I have a question which I should have asked before I did the printing of it, but was too lazy to ask lol
    Dec 29, 2016 at 1:38 PM - Toro1966: How you doing Al?
Dec 29, 2016 at 1:53 PM - Allelujah: Pretty good, just doing some printing of some Jacky Chan Adventure Medallions :D
Dec 29, 2016 at 1:53 PM - Allelujah: How about you?
Dec 29, 2016 at 2:45 PM - kevin wilson: allelujah what you have for a question
Dec 29, 2016 at 2:48 PM - Allelujah: You know I wish i could remember, but i just cant. I know it had to deal with top mounted spool holders but i dont honestly remember what the question was
Dec 29, 2016 at 3:00 PM - kevin wilson: lol
Dec 29, 2016 at 3:01 PM - Allelujah: yeah my memory is pretty bad, if i dont say something right away i tend to forget. Must not have been too horribly important anyways lol
Dec 29, 2016 at 4:30 PM - Kevin Nguyen: whatup everybody
Dec 29, 2016 at 4:32 PM - Kevin Nguyen: getting a temp fall error anywhere from after 9 point check to half way through print. robo r1 with e3d and screw in thermistor
Dec 29, 2016 at 5:34 PM - kevin wilson: ouch that sucks
Dec 29, 2016 at 5:34 PM - kevin wilson: sorry havn't run into that one yet
Dec 29, 2016 at 5:40 PM - Kevin Nguyen: thermistor wiring went bad was all. i think it just had some damage from it being a tad bit too short

Dec 30, 2016 5:22 AM - Allelujah: lol Yeah, got rent that needs to be mailed out and the internet bill needs to get payed. So its not a whole lot of running if you dont count going to the bank, and then to gamestop too to preorder some games

Dec 30, 2016 5:24 AM - Allelujah: I been going to mine ever since it opened up in my town, they pretty much know me by name there XD which is pretty bad lol
Dec 30, 2016 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont have the patience for video games
    Dec 30, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Dec 30, 2016 5:28 AM - Allelujah: lol Some games I dont either, but its a great time killer and stress reliever for me. Keeps me mostly sane XD
Dec 30, 2016 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: where in thecountry are you?
    Dec 30, 2016 5:39 AM - Allelujah: Wisconsin, USA
Dec 30, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: ah... never been there
Dec 30, 2016 5:40 AM - Allelujah: Good lol its horrible here lol If i could move i would have XD Its nice if you love the cold, random weather, and cows. Oh and the quiet too
Dec 30, 2016 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: I would love the quiet.. but 2.0 wouldnt be happy there
Dec 30, 2016 5:43 AM - Allelujah: Yeah, i myself prefer the City life. Used to Live in Madison for a few months for college but Unfortunetly had to drop out due to not able to find work, and then it snowballed into bad news from there lol
Dec 30, 2016 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: my dad was bornin Madison, but moved to Oregon before his first bday
Dec 30, 2016 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 needs to be close to an international airport.. her job requires significant travel
Dec 30, 2016 5:46 AM - Allelujah: Ah lol Yeah i been born and raised here in wisconsin my whole life. Stuck in the middle of the state in a small town. Nothing ever happens here which is nice. And yeah we have an airport here in town, but its not an international one :p
Dec 30, 2016 5:47 AM - Allelujah: wrong emote lol ment to do this one :D
Dec 30, 2016 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, whenwere at our other home, I haveto fly her to LA when she heads out
Dec 30, 2016 5:50 AM - Allelujah: Sounds like a hard busy life XD How do you get the time in to 3D print? XD
Dec 30, 2016 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: well, fir ine, I dont mess around changing settings and configurations... download and print is all i do
Dec 30, 2016 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: but I get stuff down when she's out of town..
Dec 30, 2016 5:52 AM - Allelujah: ahh lol and yeah i havent messed with any of the settings in Mattercontrol for my prints. im using defalts and currently catching up on my back log of prints i downloaded. Eventualy getting to the stuff i designed in Fusion 360
Dec 30, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: Fusion.. blech.. yuk.. patooey... :)
Dec 30, 2016 5:57 AM - Allelujah: lol I like it, its nice and simple for me to learn. Tried learning stuff like Blender, but its a pain in the bum lol
Dec 30, 2016 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. it's OK for noobs I guess. I'm been designing machines for 35+ years, using Solidworks for 20+ Fusion just doesnt cut it fir serious CAD
Dec 30, 2016 6:01 AM - Allelujah: Ahh lol Yeah that would make sense for a vet in that field of work XD I just recently got started so this world is all new to me XD That and i dont think i could afford getting any other expensive software due to my limited funds i get XD So Fusion 360 is what im stuck with unless i learn Blender or any other free software XD
Dec 30, 2016 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: makes sense
Dec 30, 2016 6:07 AM - Allelujah: Yey final talisman is done printing :D Now I have all 12 of the Jackie Chan Adventure Talismans lol
    Dec 30, 2016 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: oooooo umm goody... i guess :)
Dec 30, 2016 6:08 AM - Allelujah: yeah, im a geeky nerd that likes stuff from video games and cartoons so i been looking for stuff from my childhood and what not to 3D print XD these Talismans just happen to be one of those things XD
Dec 30, 2016 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: and here all I do is make machine parts :)
Dec 30, 2016 6:21 AM - Allelujah: Someone has to do it right? XD
    Dec 30, 2016 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, that's it :)
    Dec 30, 2016 6:38 AM - kevin wilson: morning
Dec 30, 2016 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: hey Kev
    Dec 30, 2016 10:23 AM - BryZad: Hi all
Dec 30, 2016 10:39 AM - kevin wilson: so I printed a Benchy a few days ago to see how good i can dial in my robo, there was a shinny spot on the bottom. i just went to print a new one and realied the glass plate came off onto the bottom of the benchy
Dec 30, 2016 10:39 AM - kevin wilson: no scratches or anything just a smooth divit is left in my glass
Dec 30, 2016 10:40 AM - kevin wilson: so now any ideas how to fix that, other then make sure i don't print in the dime size divit in the middle of my build plate
Dec 30, 2016 10:58 AM - Toro1966: Can any of you remember what the fpos_t find and replace needs to be for the latest version of arduino
    Dec 30, 2016 10:58 AM - Toro1966: Searching but can't seem to find it.
Dec 30, 2016 11:03 AM - kevin wilson: no. I know arduino just updated last week
Dec 30, 2016 11:05 AM - Toro1966: It's been a known issue for some time. Just have to do a global search and replace but can't find it.
Dec 30, 2016 11:08 AM - kevin wilson: sometimes an image search works,

Dec 31, 2016 4:39 PM - Bill Monroe: hi Al.. it's always dark in Wisconsin :)
Dec 31, 2016 4:41 PM - Bill Monroe: i had a second cousin that played football for the packers though met him when i was real little but didnt know him really
    Dec 31, 2016 4:46 PM - Allelujah: Nice XD and yeah :p

    Jan 3, 2017 at 6:25 AM - danzca6: What's wrong with this picture https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1162923316/3d-printer-shield
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:26 AM - danzca6: Bill nice job on the aluminum y axis belt tensioners
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: not much really.. keeping the heat in will really help ABS printing
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: Thanks Dan, the Robo is merrily working away even as we type.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:27 AM - danzca6: well, the fact that you enclose the entire printer including electronics isn't a good thing
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. it's not going to get THAT hot
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:28 AM - danzca6: also that fact I could just get 5 sheets of acrylic from lowes and glue them together to get the same thing...haha
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: i covered mine with an isulated cardboard enclosure until I made an ABS dedicated machine
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: acrylic is pricey
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:29 AM - danzca6: I have the enclosure MK designed and Printed Solid sells. It just encloses the print area. I like that a lot more and paid way less
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning all.
    Jan 3, 2017 at 6:32 AM - danzca6: Morning WW
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: a kid at the high school make one with rigid foam isulation from home depot and put a small plexi window in it.. worked awesone.. uber cheap
    Jan 3, 2017 at 6:32 AM - danzca6: how's everyone's new year?
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: Waldo
    Jan 3, 2017 at 6:34 AM - danzca6: That's another good option Bill
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: So far, not so good. Had to switch back to my Gen 2 Intel PC, 1st lost a water pump, so it was RMAd back to Corsair then lost all PCIE slots on the MB so it is off to Asus this morning.
    Jan 3, 2017 at 6:35 AM - danzca6: yikes
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, reading that made my brain hurt
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, mine too.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:36 AM - danzca6: did you have some power issues that made everything go nuts at once?
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:37 AM - WheresWaldo: But both should be under warranty so I should be back up and running by the end of next week. I tried doing some stuff in the Arduino IDE and it took 8x the load time just for the IDE to come up.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:38 AM - Bill Monroe: I need to find a LinuxCNC software configuration expert
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:38 AM - WheresWaldo: No pump just died, I guess it is not uncommon for the Corsair all-in-one, and I don't have all the parts for the custom loop, waiting on the pump to arrive for it, so I needed that Corsair to work for a few more weeks.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:38 AM - danzca6: I helped a guy on twitter yesterday get up and running on mesh with his robo. He was very happy for the work you did with the firmware WW
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Wow twitter. I helped someone out on the Facebook Robo group, I hadn't been on Facebook in aty least 6 months.

Jan 3, 2017 at 6:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah it is excruciating working with a PC that is so slow.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:42 AM - danzca6: better than no pc at all I guess and you will really appreciate the speed when you get the new one back ... haha

Jan 3, 2017 at 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: New video card won't boot on this old PC, so still using a GTX760
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Besides I am waiting on VEGA
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: I had a vega once.. rusted out in 2 years
    Jan 3, 2017 at 6:44 AM - danzca6: I was waiting for that
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:44 AM - WheresWaldo: At least it wasn't a No Va
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: hey! my nova was fantabulous
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: '76 hatchback with a 327 and interceptor front end
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:45 AM - WheresWaldo: My wife's first car was a lemon yellow Vega
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: drove like an indy car
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: As much as I like American Muscle, I never owned a muscle car or anything with a V8

Jan 3, 2017 at 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: wierd battery placement though... gotta take a front tire off to get it out :)
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm getting it back.. baby seat doesnt work in back
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Mine was the dark metallic brown with tan interior.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: blue with white leather
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: bought it from a widow in Joshua Tree.. she got it new but always rode with hubby.. 5 years later it only had 8K miles on it
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Best trip in the Sebring was a trip we did as a family circumnavigating the US. We drove 8500 miles in 30 days to try and see as many sights as possible. Arch, Devils Tower, Badland, Yellowstone, Redwoods, Yosemite, Grand Canyon and a few more spots.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: bought it for my daughter to take to college... but the public transpo was much easier to get to school so she never drove it
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: then she meets future hubby, who has company car, and he always drove
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: now the 'bring is 14 years old and only has 60K on it.. always garaged and dealer serviced...
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:55 AM - WheresWaldo: I got the Nissan from my nephew, he had it until 2016 and it only had 56000 miles on it in 14 years.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: gunna give it to 2.0's niece
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:57 AM - WheresWaldo: He gave it to us when he got is BRZ, quite a jump up from the Sentra.
Jan 3, 2017 at 6:58 AM - WheresWaldo: I am too old to care much about what I drive. It is a tool not a jewel.
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:01 AM - danzca6: WW have you done anything more with getting an aluminum bed for the robo?
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:01 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers happy new years
    Jan 3, 2017 at 7:01 AM - danzca6: morning jeff
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:02 AM - WheresWaldo: No Dan, I forgot about it when all the stuff happened to my PC.
    Jan 3, 2017 at 7:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Why?
    Jan 3, 2017 at 7:04 AM - danzca6: just curious
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Okay, I thought you might have some kind of deal for me. :)
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:06 AM - danzca6: seems like a bit more weight compared to the glass
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:06 AM - danzca6: haha...no...just the sale that was going on during the weekend
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:07 AM - WheresWaldo: But the Steppers are kinda oversized for the Robo. I was planning on using my 28 mm on the extruder and could probably go that low on the X axis also.
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:08 AM - WheresWaldo: I am on Midwest's email list so I get those promotions all the time.
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:08 AM - danzca6: were you really going 1/4" on the plate or do you think 1/8" would be solid enough
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:09 AM - WheresWaldo: I think 1/8 is solid enough but I was going to use the tooling plate and I think 1/4 is the smallest, unless you have other thoughts?
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:10 AM - danzca6: tooling plates have better tolerances for flatness correct?
    Jan 3, 2017 at 7:10 AM - danzca6: so that makes sense
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:10 AM - danzca6: may need to just cut out areas not needed for some weight reduction
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:14 AM - WheresWaldo: It looks like Midwest has nothing thinner than 1/4" so if I want something thinner I will need to look elsewhere.
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:14 AM - danzca6: I bought a piece of aluminum for the base plate of the robo using same dimensions and later thought I should have gotten it with half the thickness for weight
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:15 AM - WheresWaldo: I will look for a supplier that has 1/8" stock, that isn't super expensive. 10 x 15 or is it slightly bigger?
    Jan 3, 2017 at 7:16 AM - JeffTheMess: yes! just got a 10W 365nm led for my 3dlp
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:16 AM - danzca6: 10x15 is right if my memory serves me correctly
    Jan 3, 2017 at 7:17 AM - danzca6: how's that project going Jeff
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:20 AM - JeffTheMess: good, need a new projector take out the default bulb put in my led and done
Jan 3, 2017 at 7:21 AM - danzca6: can't wait to start seeing prints coming off of that.

Jan 3, 2017 at 7:39 AM - WheresWaldo: No one is as cheap as Midwest, OnlineMetals charges an arm and leg for shipping and even with the new customer $15.00 off they are more expensive.
Jan 3, 2017 at 8:00 AM - WheresWaldo: 14% off today, will wait for 16% off to come around again.
    Jan 3, 2017 at 9:18 AM - danzca6: I think for black friday they had 20% or more...good company
