Jan 31, 2017 at 4:22 AM - jim3Dbot: Thanks Dan, Great review to read!
Jan 31, 2017 at 4:53 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: Long time no talk. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Fusion3 F400 printers? I've broke down and have one coming soon. Tired of messing with the Robo so much, and i need larger print space/enclosure, etc. for my business. So far looks like this is going to be an awesome printer
Jan 31, 2017 at 6:32 AM - daniel871: The only complaint I remember ever hearing about that particular printer is that it is awfully expensive for the actual product you get from it. There are many very similar home made builds that are about half the price with very similar features.
Jan 31, 2017 at 6:33 AM - daniel871: But then, they build it for you, so you have to consider how much their labor is worth.
Jan 31, 2017 at 7:08 AM - daniel871: I think all of the caveats about tuning the slicer/etc. still apply.
Jan 31, 2017 at 7:41 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: Ya, im sure there will still be slicer tuning, i highly doubt it will be as much as you normally have to do though. And there werent any similar builds i found that had the same features, 32-bit controller, 14x14 bed, enclosed, really like the "belt-less" corexy setup and thr IR setup(which i know is available elsewhere). But with a 2 year warranty/support not sure you can beat if for the print area and control board and tons of preset profiles
Jan 31, 2017 at 7:42 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: which will still need fine tuning im sure, but i needed a good build area, enclosed, heated, 32bit setup, just for the simple fact that 8bit is starting to run out of room i feel.
Jan 31, 2017 at 7:46 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I also like how even the hotend is warrantied by them, comes with hardened nozzle, and new style thermistor/sock and got another head with the .6mm nozzle in it, so i got the "S" but got a bit bigger hotend setup for it as well for faster larger stuff without being constrained to the volcano setup. I gotta say, I couldnt find another 32-bit printer with the same size, support/warranty, enclosed, with the same features for any price similar.
Jan 31, 2017 at 7:47 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: Also can hook it up to my network without screwing with anything special. Just needed a reliable, supported, large enclosed pretty fast machine, and I'm not sure of any others for cheaper with the stuff I needed.

Feb 4, 2017 at 7:10 AM - Bill Monroe: Morning
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:15 AM - Travin: I'm realatively new to 3D printing, any advice on unclogging the extruder?
    Feb 4, 2017 at 7:16 AM - Travin: I probably should say it's on an R1
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:21 AM - Bill Monroe: is it the original extruder?
    Feb 4, 2017 at 7:21 AM - JeffTheMess: RoboC2 "Review"

Feb 4, 2017 at 7:23 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:23 AM - Bill Monroe: hi Jeff
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:24 AM - JeffTheMess: Happy Saturday Bill
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:24 AM - Bill Monroe: amatuer hack video reviewers should have their hands tied so they're now waving them around
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:24 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, hence the "Review", but it shows something about the printer itself
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:25 AM - Bill Monroe: IMO, if it downs have a heated chamber and at least two independent extruders, it's a junk toy
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:26 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah, wouldn't get it
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: "the touch screen isnt very sensitive" well, exactly how sensitive is it? maybe you dont have the strength..
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: lame lousy worthless review
    Feb 4, 2017 at 7:28 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Feb 4, 2017 at 7:29 AM - Bill Monroe: remember, reviews said the Chevy Vega was the future :)
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:04 AM - Travin: It's a replacement extruder from Robo 3D, but original type
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:05 AM - JeffTheMess: whats going on with your printer?
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:10 AM - Travin: Clogged Extruder, just trying to find a way to clear it out without too much damage
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:13 AM - JeffTheMess: what material
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:14 AM - Travin: I ordered some Extruder Cleaning Filament
    Feb 4, 2017 at 8:14 AM - Travin: PLA
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:15 AM - Travin: Gotta go pretend to work, brb
    Feb 4, 2017 at 8:15 AM - JeffTheMess: cool
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:17 AM - JeffTheMess: well bump up the temps to abs number and push throw. Also make sure you tighten the nozzle the correct way (tight what you can heat it up to 80-100C and tighten some more)
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:18 AM - JeffTheMess: if you a ptfe tube make sure it is firmly at the bottom of the extruder
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:30 AM - Travin: I'm back, no ptfe tube
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:30 AM - Travin: OK, I'll try to crank up the numbers
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:32 AM - JeffTheMess: manually push through the pla by hand no gear just brute force it but not too much
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:34 AM - Travin: I will try that out after work
    Feb 4, 2017 at 8:34 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Feb 4, 2017 at 8:35 AM - JeffTheMess: see yall later ill be on later peace out
    Feb 4, 2017 at 8:35 AM - Travin: Later
Feb 4, 2017 at 11:33 AM - JeffTheMess: any luck Travin?
Feb 4, 2017 at 11:35 AM - Travin: Still at work, I'll try when I get home
Feb 4, 2017 at 11:36 AM - Travin: I'm wondering if I should try to change the nozzle
Feb 4, 2017 at 11:38 AM - JeffTheMess: how long you had it for
    Feb 4, 2017 at 11:38 AM - Toro1966: Afternoon all.
    Feb 4, 2017 at 11:39 AM - JeffTheMess: whatsup
Feb 4, 2017 at 11:39 AM - Travin: For about a year and a half, I just haven't used it as much as I have wanted. Real life takes too much time
    Feb 4, 2017 at 11:39 AM - Travin: Greetings
    Feb 4, 2017 at 11:39 AM - Toro1966: Same ole same ole.
    Feb 4, 2017 at 11:39 AM - Toro1966: How about you guys?
Feb 4, 2017 at 11:40 AM - Travin: They're making me work again, brb
    Feb 4, 2017 at 11:40 AM - Toro1966: have fuN!
    Feb 4, 2017 at 11:53 AM - Travin: I are back

Feb 6, 2017 7:20 AM - daniel871: Have you seen the two flavors of resin printer Monoprice will be offering later this year?
Feb 6, 2017 7:23 AM - JeffTheMess: no I haven't, they are making their own?
Feb 6, 2017 7:25 AM - JeffTheMess: Monoprice tends to be affordable so that could be very good news
Feb 6, 2017 7:35 AM - JeffTheMess: damn their sla start at 3500
    Feb 6, 2017 8:00 AM - daniel871: That's the big one, they'll have a smaller one as well that's a good bit less expensive.
    Feb 6, 2017 8:01 AM - daniel871: $300 for the tiny one.
Feb 6, 2017 8:01 AM - JeffTheMess: oh that will be fucking great
    Feb 6, 2017 8:03 AM - daniel871: Then there will be a 400mm cube FDM printer for $800.
    Feb 6, 2017 8:03 AM - daniel871: They're going to have a good year once they're all released.
    Feb 6, 2017 10:06 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah
Feb 6, 2017 1:48 PM - c20et: Hi I am trying to put my design for 3D printing and it says 2 days and 19 hours can you please help me reduce this time I really need it printed in 36-38 hours at most by Wednesday morning. Also, how can I print outside the heat bed with cura? Thanks
Feb 6, 2017 7:31 PM - daniel871: Allow more time for your prints and you cannot print outside the bed area by definition.

Feb 7, 2017 4:23 AM - JeffTheMess: this guy must be printing on the whole bed or he is set to 100% infill
Feb 7, 2017 4:24 AM - Malte: Hey i have a robo 3d r1 and i had a little problem so i went to remove the casing and i was lifting the print head and i forgot to unplug the stepper motor and this happened: https://gyazo.com/3aab0b3c134e829bd3156d6c04ec4c69
Feb 7, 2017 4:24 AM - Malte: But the printer still prints fine
Feb 7, 2017 4:24 AM - Malte: is this something i have to fix?
Feb 7, 2017 4:25 AM - JeffTheMess: Thats the limit switch, it is used to auto bed level
Feb 7, 2017 4:26 AM - JeffTheMess: so yes you can fix it, do you have a solder iron?
    Feb 7, 2017 4:26 AM - Malte: Yes
Feb 7, 2017 4:26 AM - JeffTheMess: solder it on to the limit switch and your done
    Feb 7, 2017 4:26 AM - Malte: Okay
    Feb 7, 2017 4:27 AM - Malte: I hope i dont brake anything ;)
    Feb 7, 2017 4:28 AM - JeffTheMess: don't worry you will lol
Feb 7, 2017 4:28 AM - JeffTheMess: thats the fun part
    Feb 7, 2017 4:28 AM - Malte: hahah
Feb 7, 2017 4:29 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah and if you do come back to the chatbox or forum we'll get you squared away
Feb 7, 2017 4:29 AM - Malte: So do i have to solder it to the metal thing that is removable or the actual thingy
    Feb 7, 2017 4:29 AM - Malte: lol
    Feb 7, 2017 4:30 AM - Malte: nvm

Feb 7, 2017 9:34 AM - daniel871: That one boasts a print-resuming feature in the event of power failure, etc.
    Feb 7, 2017 9:41 AM - JeffTheMess: wonder how
Feb 7, 2017 9:43 AM - JeffTheMess: maybe it saves all step along the way with a checksum thing
Feb 7, 2017 9:45 AM - daniel871: I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the system was closed loop and had some kind of failure feature where it recorded it's current position in memory somewhere and had a battery to keep that data stored.
Feb 7, 2017 9:46 AM - daniel871: I'm sure there is an upper limit to how effective that system is.
Feb 7, 2017 9:46 AM - daniel871: (also, hope that any power failures happen during infill operations and not on a perimeter).
Feb 7, 2017 9:47 AM - daniel871: I figure that ridiculous battery backup I have would prevent that problem anyway if I had one.
Feb 7, 2017 9:48 AM - daniel871: Is there any kind of industry news or anything to distract from the bullshit happening in DC? It's depressing and I'm tired of hearing about it.

Feb 7, 2017 11:25 AM - Malte: Anyone know why
Feb 7, 2017 1:18 PM - Geof: there is a thread on this and at the bottom of the robo firmware download on their site. I cant exactly find it at the moment but you'll need to look one of those two places for the fix or start a troubleshooting thread.
Feb 7, 2017 1:36 PM - danzca6: haha...maybe robo didn't like my comment at the bottom of the firmware download page telling about how to fix this because it has been deleted.
Feb 7, 2017 1:37 PM - danzca6: global search and replace within the firmware sketch using Arduino IDE to change fpos_t to filepos_t will work

Feb 9, 2017 4:50 AM - danzca6: Morning...did you see that Printed Solid is now stocking Hatchbox filaments and ColorFabb Economy 2.2Kg rolls? Not a bad deal when you consider free shipping and buying from someone you can trust.
Feb 9, 2017 4:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Saw that, hey have you been busy? Haven't seen you around much.
Feb 9, 2017 5:11 AM - daniel871: Have you seen PrintedSolid's training day item in their shop? https://printedsolid.com/collections/3d-printers/products/makerselectclass
Feb 9, 2017 5:13 AM - daniel871: List price plus about $100 isn't that bad for that printer. Especially if they're going to include the most common modification upgrades and show you how to use it.
Feb 9, 2017 5:14 AM - WheresWaldo: Hi Dan, saw that and it helps get a few people closer to the 3D printer as an appliance.
Feb 9, 2017 5:44 AM - daniel871: This is surprisingly fun for about five minutes. http://themagicipod.com/
Feb 9, 2017 6:28 AM - daniel871: My problem now is that I've basically reached the point where I want dedicated machines for specific materials and what I want to do with each material.
Feb 9, 2017 6:31 AM - daniel871: Like, my current Monoprice i3 is basically a PETG-only 3d printer that I'm using to make knicknack fixtures/jigs for other projects I do with my dad in the shop (drill spacing templates, angle plates for holding things at odd angles in a drill press, etc.).
Feb 9, 2017 6:32 AM - daniel871: Stuff that we're not in any particular hurry to do where the material/time printing while we do other stuff is cheaper than paying for a manufactured jig in a metal shop.
Feb 9, 2017 6:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I basically only print PETG now, with a tiny bit of PLA. Myu printing is similar to yours, nothing big, prototypes and partial prints. Most of the time I don't need the whole part printed just a section of it. and a lot of templates. I think a lot of veteran 3D print users do the same.
    Feb 9, 2017 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- ABS
Feb 9, 2017 8:23 AM - Geof: PLA, ABS, XT PETG, Flex, :D lol
Feb 9, 2017 8:26 AM - daniel871: I'm really wanting to get a good look at Monoprice's 400mm cube printer that's coming out later this year that's supposedly going to be an H-bot/Ultimaker-style platform.
Feb 9, 2017 8:26 AM - Geof: big fan of gantry set ups. I'm also curious about the resin machines.
Feb 9, 2017 8:27 AM - Geof: I've got big covered :D Now I'd like to get some expensive high detail resin goin on lol
Feb 9, 2017 8:27 AM - daniel871: Yeah, the larger resin machine they're supposedly going to roll out sounds like it'll be really neat if it's half as good as a Formlabs.
Feb 9, 2017 8:28 AM - Geof: They are known for being cheap high quality :D I'd give one a go if the build is considerably larger than the form. Price isn't to far off from what I heard, about a grand ish
Feb 9, 2017 8:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey @Geof, is gCreate not supporting the gMAX anymore? curious since they don't seem to have anything in their line that uses Marlin 1.1.0 in any flavor.
Feb 9, 2017 8:57 AM - Geof: They do and the 1.5+ you looked at for me is their new one, I just dont think they do ANYTHING with the firmware.
    Feb 9, 2017 9:55 AM - daniel871: Huh. http://www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_441281.html
Feb 9, 2017 10:27 AM - Geof: yea the youtuber press reset has one he is testing. If you can watch his videos it walks through the machine out of the box and inside the electrical box. Looks well made. He compares it to a wombot.
Feb 9, 2017 10:27 AM - Geof: They were 369.00 until his video came out lol
Feb 9, 2017 10:29 AM - Geof: the single lead screw thing is ...interesting
    Feb 9, 2017 10:29 AM - Geof: Hello to Mike Kelly :D
Feb 9, 2017 10:32 AM - Geof: nevermind hes gone again lol
Feb 9, 2017 10:57 AM - daniel871: Monoprice is having another sale on 3d printers.
    Feb 9, 2017 10:59 AM - daniel871: https://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=15710
Feb 9, 2017 11:06 AM - danzca6: pressreset has a coupon code still for the gearbest that gets it down to like ~$401 I think
Feb 9, 2017 11:13 AM - Geof: not the mini, bummer. I'd like to get one for my tiny nozzle but not at the 200 price lol
Feb 9, 2017 11:14 AM - Geof: yea i saw that, still irks me that they bumped the price after his video danz, know what I mean?
Feb 9, 2017 11:22 AM - danzca6: yeah they were selling it below cost on accident
Feb 9, 2017 11:22 AM - danzca6: the coupon code is HIJ3DXX if anyone is interested in getting the gearbest CR10 for $409
Feb 9, 2017 11:23 AM - danzca6: amazon had the mini on black friday for a steal
Feb 9, 2017 11:44 AM - Geof: what was that?
    Feb 9, 2017 1:07 PM - daniel871: I think back on black friday it was $150.
    Feb 9, 2017 2:47 PM - daniel871: 3d printing with Cheese Whiz.
    Feb 9, 2017 2:48 PM - daniel871: Better video:

Feb 10, 2017 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: hey Jeff
Feb 10, 2017 6:19 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey Bill, whats cookin
Feb 10, 2017 6:19 AM - Bill Monroe: not much.. you? looking for software to run a laser cutter
Feb 10, 2017 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: booking my flight to go to Boston
    Feb 10, 2017 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: fun
Feb 10, 2017 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: you making a laser cutter too? to cut what
Feb 10, 2017 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: no its a business trip lol
Feb 10, 2017 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: dont miss the Golden Banana while you're there
Feb 10, 2017 6:45 AM - Malte: Does anyone know where i can get a better LCD font so i can see like how many % is done and the estimate time left
Feb 10, 2017 6:45 AM - Malte: and stuff like that
Feb 10, 2017 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: what do you have now?
Feb 10, 2017 6:47 AM - JeffTheMess: thats more of a software thing
Feb 10, 2017 6:48 AM - Malte: I have the normal layout that you get with the full graphic lcd controller
Feb 10, 2017 6:49 AM - JeffTheMess: its about changing the firmware
Feb 10, 2017 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: another one seduced by the "full graphics"
Feb 10, 2017 6:49 AM - Malte: i saw it on a video from novice expert
    Feb 10, 2017 6:51 AM - JeffTheMess: to change it to %?
Feb 10, 2017 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: change it to an XXL
    Feb 10, 2017 6:52 AM - Malte: nvm the %
Feb 10, 2017 6:53 AM - Malte: its like so i can babystep the z when its printing
Feb 10, 2017 6:53 AM - Malte: and instead of showing 3 print heads it only shows 1
Feb 10, 2017 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess: you have the diamond head?
    Feb 10, 2017 6:55 AM - Malte: Diamond head?
    Feb 10, 2017 6:55 AM - Malte: lol
    Feb 10, 2017 6:59 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah lol...i guess not....http://reprap.org/wiki/Diamond_Hotend
    Feb 10, 2017 6:59 AM - JeffTheMess: you have 3 hotends?
Feb 10, 2017 7:02 AM - Malte: yes it shows 3 hotends on the lcd but i only have 1 on the printer
    Feb 10, 2017 7:02 AM - Malte: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...bugfix-for-r1-r1-plus.5806/page-47#post-97888
    Feb 10, 2017 7:02 AM - Malte: i think its this
    Feb 10, 2017 7:02 AM - Malte: but i dont know
Feb 10, 2017 7:07 AM - JeffTheMess: I don't have the "full graphics" one I have a regular but I would assume going through the firmware and finding where it talks about nozzles you can fix it one your know
Feb 10, 2017 7:07 AM - JeffTheMess: I assume you have the arduino IDE
    Feb 10, 2017 7:10 AM - Malte: Ye
Feb 10, 2017 7:14 AM - JeffTheMess: which firmware you have maybe I can find it
Feb 10, 2017 7:19 AM - Malte: nah you dont have to
Feb 10, 2017 7:23 AM - danzca6: The new Marlin firmware 1.1.0 RC-7/8 made some font improvements with the full graphics
Feb 10, 2017 7:23 AM - danzca6: I still like my XXL for easy reading though
    Feb 10, 2017 7:24 AM - JeffTheMess: too late
Feb 10, 2017 7:24 AM - JeffTheMess: Dan? Dan is that you?
    Feb 10, 2017 7:24 AM - danzca6: Hey Jeff
Feb 10, 2017 7:27 AM - JeffTheMess: hows it going
Feb 10, 2017 7:31 AM - danzca6: Been pretty busy at work lately so I don't get too many chances to drop in during the day anymore
    Feb 10, 2017 7:31 AM - danzca6: how's your SLA printer build going?
Feb 10, 2017 7:32 AM - JeffTheMess: its going, I received my dlp projector not to long ago not just gotta take out the UV filter and I should be good to go
    Feb 10, 2017 7:36 AM - danzca6: that's exciting...can't wait to see when you are done
Feb 10, 2017 7:38 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah i think only one other robonauts did it
Feb 10, 2017 7:38 AM - danzca6: I've been following the Duplicator 7 and it looks pretty good for the cost
Feb 10, 2017 7:41 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey malte check line 144, in the Configuration.h tab
Feb 10, 2017 7:41 AM - JeffTheMess: whats the price range
    Feb 10, 2017 7:44 AM - danzca6: I think it was in the $400 range...I'll have to look again
Feb 10, 2017 7:45 AM - JeffTheMess: whoa that's actually pretty good...now the price of the resin has to drop, because it is hella expensive
    Feb 10, 2017 7:46 AM - danzca6: £415
    Feb 10, 2017 7:46 AM - danzca6: so that is like $515 US
Feb 10, 2017 7:46 AM - danzca6: still pretty good and the prints I am seeing a friend make with it looks incredible
Feb 10, 2017 7:47 AM - danzca6: resin printing is a whole new world for sure
Feb 10, 2017 7:47 AM - danzca6: The print area is also kind of small 120*68*200mm
Feb 10, 2017 7:48 AM - JeffTheMess: I hope it works our because almost every resin based printer out there that are below 1000 is pretty scares
Feb 10, 2017 7:48 AM - JeffTheMess: i.e. Peachy printer and ono* "rebranded" olo
Feb 10, 2017 7:49 AM - danzca6: agreed...it looks to be working pretty well so far, but time will tell. It is at least being manufactured and about ready for prime time
Feb 10, 2017 7:50 AM - JeffTheMess: will you jump the gun and get it right away?
Feb 10, 2017 7:50 AM - danzca6: my allowance does let me jump anything these days hahaha
    Feb 10, 2017 7:51 AM - danzca6: doesn't*
    Feb 10, 2017 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Feb 10, 2017 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: thats why i buy small chunks of things so the wife doesn't notice it too much
    Feb 10, 2017 7:51 AM - danzca6: amen to that
Feb 10, 2017 7:52 AM - danzca6: I have to get going, but nice talking to you again. Take care man
    Feb 10, 2017 7:52 AM - JeffTheMess: peace out
Feb 10, 2017 8:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, you still on?
Feb 10, 2017 9:12 AM - daniel871: Which Dan? I'm in and out depending on what's going on at work.
    Feb 10, 2017 9:19 AM - WheresWaldo: ZCA
    Feb 10, 2017 9:47 AM - Geof: lol :D
Feb 10, 2017 9:47 AM - Geof: Good morning all
Feb 10, 2017 9:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey there Geof.
Feb 10, 2017 10:14 AM - Geof: how doin waldo! Using your firmware tomorrow when the volcano gets here! :D
Feb 10, 2017 10:14 AM - Geof: did you include the filament change ?
    Feb 10, 2017 10:14 AM - Geof: (gmax)
Feb 10, 2017 11:33 AM - WheresWaldo: It was stock firmware, so if it was enabled on their website version it is enabled in this one. Not sure if Filament change was enabled originally.
Feb 10, 2017 11:44 AM - WheresWaldo: Fixed it. I will add it to a PM only change was some stuff in configuration_adv.h that I missed before.
Feb 10, 2017 12:51 PM - Geof: Thanks Waldo! You the man!

Feb 11, 2017 at 2:08 AM - Malte: Hello im wondering what screws i should buy if i want to replace the 2 screws holding the hotend
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:14 AM - Malte: ?
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:39 AM - danzca6: Do you have the R1 and not the R1+
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:40 AM - danzca6: If you still have screws that "pinch" the hotend from the side to secure it, I would recommend printing a quick release plate
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:40 AM - danzca6: The plate eliminates the need for those PITA screws
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:42 AM - Geof: Hey danz
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:42 AM - danzca6: Morning Geof
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:43 AM - Geof: How you spin
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:44 AM - danzca6: How are things going at the shop
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:44 AM - Geof: Doin *** lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:44 AM - danzca6: been pretty busy with work
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:45 AM - danzca6: I'm interested in seeing how the prometheus system works on your robo
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:45 AM - Malte: Hey i have the r1 refurbished
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:45 AM - Geof: Busy times getting all the machines moved and set back up
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:45 AM - danzca6: Malte, does it still print?
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:45 AM - Geof: Lots of one off jobs so far but doing stuff for designers and architects now too so that's interesting lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:45 AM - danzca6: Geof, did I see that you are updating the gMax with the Marlin 1.1.0 mesh firmware?
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:46 AM - Malte: Yes but its very worn out so i chould only get it in a couple of cm
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:46 AM - danzca6: Do you think you could manage printing a quick release plate?
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:46 AM - Geof: Yea the Prometheus system should be cool, just figuring out how I want to mount everything
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:46 AM - danzca6: Geof, I see it eating into your Z height limit
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:47 AM - Geof: Yea Waldo set me up with rc8 cuz he's awesome. I hate that bl touch
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:47 AM - danzca6: unless you go topless
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:47 AM - Malte: Yeah
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:47 AM - Geof: Should be justenough room on the measurements
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:47 AM - danzca6: haha, with a build plate that large, I would thing Mesh will be a big help
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:47 AM - Malte: if that fixes it
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:47 AM - danzca6: Malte, I'll PM you the files
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:47 AM - Malte: okay thanks
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:48 AM - Geof: Worse comes to worse I can always do a larger slot on the top to allow lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:52 AM - danzca6: Malte, that won't fix anything but getting rid of dealing with the screws securing the hotend. What other issues are you seeing?
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:52 AM - danzca6: Geof, if it doesn't work out on the Robo, you may have another machine to install it on
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:53 AM - Geof: Lol I strongly thought about grabbing a full system and doing it on my ditto too lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:54 AM - Geof: Gonna wait and see if I can get it functioning first though.
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:54 AM - Malte: The only reason i wanted to get new screws was because i was scared that my print head would pop out mid print lol
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:54 AM - danzca6: is the head loose?
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:55 AM - danzca6: Geof, it will be interesting to see how it compares to the prusa system someday
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:55 AM - Geof: Danz were doing a volcano and mesh on gmax today.
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:55 AM - Malte: No but its just barely holding on
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:56 AM - Geof: Yea when my 4 color system gets here it will be a great thread on comparing lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:56 AM - danzca6: I see that have a .4mm nozzle now for the volcano. I can see that being a better match for something with that big of a build volume so you can go up to 1.2mm nozzle for large prints
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning guys
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:57 AM - Geof: It's so terribly slow with the stock e3d, keep exhausting filament going over 30mm/s. It's rediculous
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:57 AM - danzca6: Malte, try printing the plate and that should secure it if the screws are getting loose on you
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:57 AM - danzca6: Morning WW
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:57 AM - Malte: Yeah
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:58 AM - Malte: Morning lol, for me its 3:50 Pm haha
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:58 AM - Geof: Morning Waldo !
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:58 AM - danzca6: where you located Malte?
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:58 AM - Malte: Sweden
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:58 AM - danzca6: Oh nice
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Malte, also if you are using RC8 then there is a way to tell if you have 5/16 or 8 mm I just can't remmeber what it is.
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:59 AM - danzca6: I'm in Illinois USA, so just a long long stone throw from you
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:59 AM - Geof: With a 5/16 nut lol :)
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:59 AM - Malte: The shipping cost was like 350$
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:59 AM - danzca6: bingo Geof
    Feb 11, 2017 at 6:59 AM - danzca6: ouch!
Feb 11, 2017 at 6:59 AM - WheresWaldo: You can count threads too, but I don't remember the numbers.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:00 AM - Malte: I can send a picture of the rods if you want
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:00 AM - Geof: Well in Sweden may be easier to find a 8mm nut lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Picture won't help they look almost identical.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:00 AM - Malte: Okay well ill try the 8mm now
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:00 AM - WheresWaldo: I am pretty sure it is 8 mm, 5/16 didn't last very long.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:01 AM - Geof: If it threads on your all set
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:01 AM - danzca6: I think 5/16" is 18 threads in 1" of rod
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:02 AM - danzca6: 8mm is over 20 threads in 1"
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:02 AM - danzca6: if my memory serves me this morning
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:02 AM - Malte: Then i think its a 8mm
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:03 AM - Malte: its uploading now
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:03 AM - Geof: You need different e steps in your firmware
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:03 AM - Geof: Lol never understand
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:03 AM - Geof: Never mind lol auto correct is kicking my butt
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:04 AM - Malte: Rip same thing happens
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:04 AM - Malte: It makes a very loud noice
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:04 AM - Malte: noise
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Do you have a voltmeter?
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:05 AM - Malte: but if i use the controller to move the z it works fine
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:05 AM - Malte: Im not sure
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:05 AM - Malte: hold on
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:05 AM - WheresWaldo: So it is when you print only?
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:05 AM - Malte: no
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:06 AM - Malte: its when i type a command like G1Z10 in the gcode terminal in cura
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:06 AM - Malte: and i dont have a voltmeter
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:07 AM - WheresWaldo: Well, yuou could try an experiment and swap two of the driver boards on your RAMPS board to see if the problem moves.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:09 AM - danzca6: Z is interesting using that technique since it normally is a bit higher setting since it is driving two steppers right
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Problem with Z is that Robo drives two motors with 1 driver board, perfectly fine to do it that way, but it needs to be tuned differently, But if it's noise from jittering then slowing acelleration on Z could solve it.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:10 AM - Malte: Ill send an audio file of how it sounds like
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:13 AM - WheresWaldo: You can test it in terminal by first issuing a M203 500 then you G1 Z10.
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:13 AM - WheresWaldo: M203 E500 is what I meant
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:14 AM - Malte:
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:14 AM - Malte: Check that out
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:14 AM - Malte: okay ill try that
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:16 AM - Malte: Still same problem
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:16 AM - WheresWaldo: Try an M204 P500 before the G1 command
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:17 AM - Malte: Nope
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Then try an M204 T500 before the G1 command
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:17 AM - Malte: Still
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:17 AM - Malte: Still doesnt work D:
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Okay, I think it is a faulty or incorrectly adjusted driver board. They should be cheap, even in Sweden.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:18 AM - danzca6: not that this has anything to do with the issue, but you may want to clean that printer a bit...haha

Feb 11, 2017 at 7:19 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:19 AM - Malte: But it works with the old firmware
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:20 AM - danzca6: Morning Bill
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:20 AM - Bill Monroe: Dan
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:20 AM - WheresWaldo: There have been a lot of changes in the new Marlin, if your adjust was boarderline to begin with it could easily work on one revision and not another. I think it's still adjustment related.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:21 AM - Malte: How can i fix that?
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Because I know that there are no other reports of this between firmwarezsx that were not 100% hardware related.
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:22 AM - Malte: :(
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:24 AM - WheresWaldo: There is a small potentiometer on the driver board that goes to the Z steppers. That pot controls the amperage the motors receive you can adjust it and test at some point the motor will move. The problem with not using a voltmeter is you never know the exact amperage supplied and even though it will work with excess amperage it will run hotter.
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:25 AM - Malte: Okay
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:25 AM - WheresWaldo: plus it is a very small pot, so the adjustments are in miniscule amounts.
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:26 AM - danzca6:
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:27 AM - danzca6: very small adjustments at a time
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Since I am pretty sure Robo does not test the actual output of the driver boards, you may already have one that has a better adjustment for the two motors used. The easy thing to do is to swap the driver board with another axis and if the problem is resolved then fine, if the problem moves then you need a new driver board.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:27 AM - danzca6: that video shows some detail
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Thanks Danz
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:28 AM - Malte: Thanks everyone
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:28 AM - Malte: ill see if i can get it fixed :)
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:28 AM - WheresWaldo: Danz on another topic, Based on a couple of comments I saw you make, flying by my screen, I decided to start saving for the Wanhoa Dup7
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:29 AM - danzca6: cool!
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Malte, once it is correct you should not have to worry about it anymore.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:29 AM - WheresWaldo: That is regardless of the firmware used.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:30 AM - danzca6: yeah that is a nice printer from what I have seen of it so far and the price is very affordable
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:30 AM - Malte: alright
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:30 AM - WheresWaldo: There are like three or four Youtube videos showing a preproduction model. with actual print samples.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:31 AM - WheresWaldo: I was planning on a Form One this year, but if the Wanhoa is so much cheaper and works, then it will be on my shopping list.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:31 AM - danzca6: Evan Morgan has been reviewing it on Twitter and showing prints. They look awesome
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:32 AM - danzca6: https://twitter.com/EvanModel3D
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:32 AM - WheresWaldo: There is this guy too, https://www.youtube.com/user/TheApplegeek93
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:33 AM - danzca6: hahaha...same guy
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Cool, I wonder how easy the resin parts accept paint?
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:35 AM - Malte: I tried doing G1 Z10 F200 and that worked
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:35 AM - danzca6: good question...I would think a primer and paint would be fine
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:36 AM - danzca6: He actually shows a primed part on twitter and it looks good
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:37 AM - WheresWaldo: So it might be an acceleration issue., there is a line in configuration.h that sets defaults, then tweaking the pot adjustment may be all that is needed, try turning it a very small amount in both directions and test.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:38 AM - danzca6: Well gents, I'll be back later, son is asking for pancakes...cheers
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:38 AM - Bill Monroe: I'll take a short stack
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Danz the other YT videos are from Wanhoa employees, there are two of them.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:38 AM - WheresWaldo: See ya.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:39 AM - Geof: Waldo your getting the dup7 too?
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:39 AM - Malte: Waldo i dont know what gcode i have to use when i set the z offset
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:40 AM - Malte: like the posetive number thing
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, got to save my pennies first, a purchase like that can't be slid by the CFO.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Malte, I beleive rotating right will increase available amperage, but I don't remember.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Slid unnoticed that is.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:44 AM - Geof: Lol I'm going with begging forgiveness Waldo lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:44 AM - WheresWaldo: Ugh I am typing to fast and there are misspellings, I hate when I do that.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:44 AM - Geof: I'm on my iPad it's all autocorrect terribleness buddy no worries
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:45 AM - WheresWaldo: There are a few things that forgiveness just won't cover, plus I am currently upgrading my current PC and building a new one at the same time.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:45 AM - Geof: Ah so you need the resin tool for tight tolerance parts ;)
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, right now I am doing a few case mods with the Robo, and either I end up sanding parts or reprinting them over and over.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:46 AM - Geof: I bet you get why I'm always in trouble lol
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:46 AM - Geof: See ! It's a need not a want
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:47 AM - WheresWaldo: I do exactly the same thing, When I bought our tandem, I didn't tell my wife that it cost $13,000, I said it was 'close to $10K'
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:48 AM - Geof: Lol I just keep repeating how great it is until the cost isn't asked about anymore lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:48 AM - WheresWaldo: She forgets when the next item hits the door.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:49 AM - Geof: Lol right ! It's fantastic I try to buy two at a time now lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:49 AM - WheresWaldo: You should have heard the grief I got when the 43" 4K monitor showed up even though it was for my design work.
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: I remember those days :)
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:49 AM - WheresWaldo: and pid for out of those funds.
    Feb 11, 2017 at 7:49 AM - WheresWaldo: paid
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:50 AM - Geof: Lol I bet that was an interesting day lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:51 AM - WheresWaldo: The Robo was also an expense she said we didn't need, that was until I strated printing her stuff to put on her desk at work.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:52 AM - Geof: Lol right ! Expensive toy I kept hearing...I think she has given up now lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:53 AM - WheresWaldo: A resin printer will be the gift that keeps on giving, since I understand the smell is pretty bad. SO she will be reminded every time I print with it.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:54 AM - Geof: Lol right ! I'll have to take to the shop lol
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:54 AM - WheresWaldo: My wife gives up pretty easily now, especially with all the bicycle stuff I have, at one point I had 10 bicycles in my stable, I am down to three now.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Plus the bicycles are now my test platform since most of what I am designing is for mounting on a bicycle/motorcycle. Mostly GoPro and cyclo-computer mounts and adapters.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: A resin printer will let me test stuff I can't currently using the Robo.
Feb 11, 2017 at 7:57 AM - Geof: Lol at least you got rid of a few so that's good before the new prototyper comes in
Feb 11, 2017 at 8:08 AM - Malte: Waldo what should i put in the gcode to get the z offset working
Feb 11, 2017 at 8:18 AM - WheresWaldo: I would first make the adjustment to the pot, I am not an advocate of using software to fix hardware. But if you must, you might be able to change a line in configuration.h, give me a sec to find it.
    Feb 11, 2017 at 8:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Line 483, it reads #define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE { 500, 500, 10, 25 } change the third parameter from 10 to 5 and see if that helps.
Feb 11, 2017 at 8:20 AM - WheresWaldo: If not exactly 483, it will only be a line or two away in either direction.
Feb 11, 2017 at 8:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Gotta go, the CFO is calling.
Feb 11, 2017 at 10:42 AM - BryZad: hey hall
Feb 11, 2017 at 10:42 AM - BryZad: anyone still here
Feb 11, 2017 at 11:08 AM - Mike Glass: nope nobody here.

Feb 14, 2017 at 2:09 PM - Malte: because im seeing that a 20mm calibration cube is only about 17 mm at z
