Nov 2, 2017 4:52 AM - Hanover: Anyone know or heard when/if we can buy the build-tak version of the R2 heated bed?
Nov 2, 2017 5:03 AM - daniel871: What are the build dimensions of the R2 bed again?
Nov 2, 2017 5:03 AM - daniel871: Because I'm pretty sure you can just buy a Buildtak pad and put it on the R2 bed, adjust your starting Gcode to heat the bed>level>heat the hotend and go with it.
Nov 2, 2017 5:11 AM - Geof: Daniel I think they are 196x196 build dimensions but I think hanover is more interesnted in the new design that bypasses the pogo pins
Nov 2, 2017 5:11 AM - Geof: (I am as well, but have no ETA). All I've heard is they are in production process
Nov 2, 2017 5:59 AM - daniel871: This issue with the delta is bugging me with how it "recovers" from whatever causes the problem when I cancel the print in progress, but doesn't give any error codes or feedback to Simplify3d to let me know what the problem is. Here is a link to the recap post.
    Nov 2, 2017 6:02 AM - JeffTheMess: morning robonauts
    Nov 2, 2017 6:04 AM - daniel871: Morning Jeff.
Nov 2, 2017 6:05 AM - JeffTheMess: how goes it
Nov 2, 2017 6:05 AM - daniel871: Other than the odd issue this Mini Delta is having, pretty good.
Nov 2, 2017 6:36 AM - JeffTheMess: how many printers you have?
Nov 2, 2017 6:49 AM - daniel871: One other that I actively use, but it's at home. This thing was meant to be a vanity machine, like people that put Newton's Cradles on their desk, but a 3d printer.
    Nov 2, 2017 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Nov 2, 2017 6:59 AM - danzca6: Hey daniel, the R2 uses the IR height sensor for leveling. So nozzle never touches the build plate. No need to heat bed, level, then heat nozzle anymore.
    Nov 2, 2017 7:01 AM - JeffTheMess: Sup Dan
    Nov 2, 2017 7:02 AM - danzca6: Hey Jeff
    Nov 2, 2017 7:03 AM - danzca6: I am not ready for Fall....I miss Summer already
    Nov 2, 2017 7:03 AM - JeffTheMess: same here
Nov 2, 2017 7:04 AM - danzca6: you still working on the resin printer?
Nov 2, 2017 7:05 AM - JeffTheMess: just need the fep film and I'm done, software/hardware works so Im ready to go
    Nov 2, 2017 7:05 AM - JeffTheMess: i switched to using a phone instead of a projector
Nov 2, 2017 7:08 AM - JeffTheMess: waiting for uno jr see what people say http://myt3d.com/ https://www.kickstarter.com/project...rst-mobile-multifunction-3d-print/description
Nov 2, 2017 7:17 AM - danzca6: using a phone....is it an old phone or your current one?
Nov 2, 2017 8:05 AM - JeffTheMess: current really high res
    Nov 2, 2017 12:08 PM - Dan: How's everyone's day today?

Nov 3, 2017 4:29 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers, that is nuts
Nov 3, 2017 5:10 AM - Geof: Morning Gents. Happy Friday.
Nov 3, 2017 5:14 AM - daniel871: Yes it is. Anybody else going to see the new Thor movie?
Nov 3, 2017 5:15 AM - Geof: probably not this weekend. Maybe next
Nov 3, 2017 5:16 AM - daniel871: Then Justice League the weekend after that.
Nov 3, 2017 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: gonna be awesome
    Nov 3, 2017 5:17 AM - daniel871: Well, fun at least.
    Nov 3, 2017 5:18 AM - daniel871: Live-action versions of animated movies already out.
Nov 3, 2017 5:21 AM - Geof: Think I'm more interested in thor than JL. not a big fan of the idea of 4 of them :D
Nov 3, 2017 5:21 AM - Geof: and afflek as batman is hilarious to me lol
Nov 3, 2017 5:22 AM - daniel871: Pretty much the only casting I like so far is Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Nov 3, 2017 5:22 AM - daniel871: Okay, a gigantic nerd as The Flash checks out, but I don't much care for the actual guy they picked for it.
Nov 3, 2017 5:24 AM - daniel871: Cyborg as one of the early members of the Justice League is technically comics-accurate since the early-2000s (as is him being based on tech from Darkseid's planet), but the actual aesthetics of his robot-parts just look like glowing rocks.
Nov 3, 2017 5:25 AM - daniel871: Batfleck is entertaining because he's back to the old Tim Burton "Doesn't give a shit if he kills people" thing (like that time he dropped live grenades on a bunch of Penguin's minions in the second movie).
Nov 3, 2017 5:26 AM - daniel871: Making Aquaman into Water-Thor is pretty funny, too.
Nov 3, 2017 5:42 AM - JeffTheMess: [IMG] make him ride a seahorse
    Nov 3, 2017 7:05 AM - daniel871: Close enough?
    Nov 3, 2017 7:06 AM - JeffTheMess: lulz
Nov 3, 2017 7:19 PM - Hanover: Great, now the touch screen on my R2 is not responsive at all. Theres no PLA in between it and the case or anything. It was just sitting on my desk turned off for a week.
Nov 3, 2017 8:18 PM - Hanover: Managed to re-seat the header cable from the Pi to the display, and that seems to have fixed it.
Nov 3, 2017 8:19 PM - Hanover: Also, the PEI on my bed is shot again, and I'd rather just get one of the new build tak beds. They're selling the sheets on their store, but those won't directly fit the old heated bed.

Nov 5, 2017 6:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Mark, Geof hows it going?
Nov 5, 2017 6:33 AM - Geof: Moving slow. Long day in both shops
    Nov 5, 2017 6:33 AM - Geof: Feeling better?
Nov 5, 2017 6:36 AM - WheresWaldo: I can only sit for about two hours before the pain is unbearable. Problem is the stones are too big to pass so I will likely need surgery. Plus the hydrocodone makes me a bit loopy.
Nov 5, 2017 6:37 AM - WheresWaldo: Plus I am falling behind on things I need to get designed
Nov 5, 2017 6:41 AM - Geof: Sounds rough man
Nov 5, 2017 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: It is not fun, plus I am not sure if they will take acre of the gall stones at the same time. I have a Urologist appointment on Tuesday afternoon, supposed to be a stone specialist.
Nov 5, 2017 6:54 AM - Geof: No good man

    Nov 6, 2017 5:22 AM - daniel871: Just another Monday.

Nov 6, 2017 5:22 AM - WheresWaldo: At least you on the correct side of the grass.
Nov 6, 2017 5:25 AM - WheresWaldo: Did you figure out your MP Delta issue?
    Nov 6, 2017 6:32 AM - Toro1966: Morning all.
Nov 6, 2017 6:37 AM - daniel871: Oh, yeah, delta is figured out. Just waiting on parts.
Nov 6, 2017 6:37 AM - daniel871: They're sending me a replacement main board since the stepper drivers are embedded.
Nov 6, 2017 6:38 AM - daniel871: It's a shame the firmware is locked up because there is an extra stepper plugin and it'd be trivial to move the extruder to that location and run it from there to see if that driver is also shot if I could reset the firmware.
Nov 6, 2017 7:17 AM - WheresWaldo: A lot of these companies either run crappy firmware (like Sprinter) or don't provide any source for you to fix things. Just wait until Epson and HP get into the game.
    Nov 6, 2017 7:52 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Nov 6, 2017 8:36 AM - daniel871: Man, those "My Pillow" commercials are getting creepy. [IMG]
Nov 6, 2017 8:36 AM - daniel871: Note: That's the guy selling it and some other dude's wife. Other dude is just out of frame all "WTF?!"

Nov 7, 2017 9:31 AM - WheresWaldo: PLA of course.
Nov 7, 2017 10:07 AM - teknoprep: soooo... UBL is pretty bad ass
Nov 7, 2017 10:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep, been using it on my R2 for a bit now, it is kinda like automated MESH.

Nov 8, 2017 5:42 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Hey @WheresWaldo, I sent you a conversaion, looking for the correct Marlin with Mesh for my R1, I founf V1.11, just making sure that was correct as I dont see an R1 folder in your GitHub
    Nov 8, 2017 5:46 AM - Geof: Not Waldo but take a read :D http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...6-release-for-robo-r1-r1-plus-variants.18362/
Nov 8, 2017 5:47 AM - Geof: only difference between R1+ and R1 would be your machine set up/leadscrew size/thread
Nov 8, 2017 6:42 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Got it, thank you! (I did the NoviceExpert Z-azis upgrade, so justy a simple Z-step change and I shoud be good to go)
Nov 8, 2017 6:49 AM - Geof: yep I think so! His firmware does have the full graphics controller enabled so if you dont have that one you will need to adjust that, but thats about it :D
Nov 8, 2017 7:01 AM - JoshYourITGuy: I went with a GeckoTek bed as I chipped another glass one (PolyMax PLA really really really sticks and it chipped by itself when cooling) It is awesome, but has some warpage near the center that the standard ABL doesnt compensate for
Nov 8, 2017 7:09 AM - Geof: I've used their plates before and had the same issue. Should be alleviated with mesh. Btw...plain old float glass (window pane) cut to size and binder clipped on makes a cheap long lasting build surface to avoid chipping the glass beds :D
Nov 8, 2017 7:09 AM - WheresWaldo: JYITG, I wholeheartedly agree with Geof on plain old Window float glass.
Nov 8, 2017 11:47 AM - danzca6: I have to laugh when someone begs MatterHackers over social media for them to send him a free Pulse printer...he already has a Prusa MK2 and has the MK3 on the way. For what the Pulse costs and comes with...why? hahaha
Nov 8, 2017 11:50 AM - danzca6: Also, I'm a bit surprised that Robo didn't throw the R2/C2 into the Make: yearly printer review
Nov 8, 2017 11:50 AM - danzca6: I think they even had the R1+ in last years issue
Nov 8, 2017 12:58 PM - daniel871: Posted a semi-update in the delta thread. Have a lot of reading to do to refresh my memory on Marlin and see about incorporating the board/pin layouts someone did on Github for the control board.
Nov 8, 2017 1:05 PM - daniel871: All so I can gain the ability to adjust the firmware-controlled potentiometer values for the extruder stepper.

Nov 9, 2017 5:30 AM - daniel871: Welp, foiled again by localized language in the stock firmware.bin file being in a language I don't know, lol.
Nov 9, 2017 5:47 AM - daniel871: As in, actual characters that look like one of the chinese unicode languages, not just a bunch of squares and random symbols that aren't an actual language.
    Nov 9, 2017 6:33 AM - danzca6: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/588153279/rts-hot-end-for-3d-printers
Nov 9, 2017 6:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan are they expecting you to buy multiple heatbreaks for each nozzle you have.
Nov 9, 2017 6:37 AM - danzca6: no, the brass nozzle will come off the heatbreak
    Nov 9, 2017 6:38 AM - danzca6: just a wierd design
Nov 9, 2017 6:38 AM - danzca6: 500C I guess is a plus, but not sure why I would want to easily switch between 1.75 and 3mm nozzles
Nov 9, 2017 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: I know but their kit at $130 is 4 nozzles and 4 heatbreaks.
Nov 9, 2017 6:39 AM - danzca6: well...I guess if you want to make easier changes...
    Nov 9, 2017 6:39 AM - danzca6: I don't know
Nov 9, 2017 6:39 AM - Geof: lol easily switching is not easy :D
Nov 9, 2017 6:40 AM - Geof: 500C is nice assuming the thermistor can hack it. doesn't look like a very beefy (like pt100 style or anything) to it.
Nov 9, 2017 6:40 AM - danzca6: Just thought it was interesting...1 dollar out of 25,000 and 18 days left...not sure it will make it
Nov 9, 2017 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: The right extruder appears to be an E3Dv6 or clone, liook at the cone shaped inner core of the heatsink.
Nov 9, 2017 6:41 AM - Geof: I saw that too danz. hard job to sell when there are already alot of really good hotends out there.
Nov 9, 2017 6:41 AM - Geof: would be fun to play with but not at the price for me :D
Nov 9, 2017 6:41 AM - Geof: the Pico hotend that does 500C would be cool but have the same concerns on the thermistor. Will likely go with a Dyze when I get around to modding a machine to print peek
Nov 9, 2017 6:42 AM - danzca6: so easy to find parts for e3d...where are these guys going to be in a year and who will supply parts...not something I'll jump on
Nov 9, 2017 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Since most of these cheap glass bead thermistors tend to lose accuracy very quickly over 300°C I think any design that is intended to routinely surpass that temperature should be using a Thermocoupler instead.
Nov 9, 2017 6:44 AM - Geof: Indeed but even E3Ds version is only good to 400 :D so they say.
Nov 9, 2017 6:45 AM - danzca6: I wonder if this kickstarter is hoping to sell their printers more than their hotends...that's an expensive printer on there
Nov 9, 2017 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof I have a spool and a half left of Alloy 910, I am happy to see that it prints well on the R2, did you used PVA Glue as a release agent?
    Nov 9, 2017 6:47 AM - Geof: yes always.
Nov 9, 2017 6:47 AM - Geof: Dont know its really needed, but not worth tearing up a PEI sheet.
Nov 9, 2017 6:47 AM - WheresWaldo: I currently have the blue Robo sample in my R2, now I see what the fuss is all about, it really sucks.
Nov 9, 2017 6:47 AM - Geof: Danz your right, looks pricey
Nov 9, 2017 6:47 AM - Geof: always has :D. I had a profile somewhere for the R1+ that ran it well, I'll have to dig it up and throw that sample on there if I want to use it.
Nov 9, 2017 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: I am close on mine already, seems to want to under-extrude no matter what you do and it has very poor intra-layer adhesion.
Nov 9, 2017 6:49 AM - WheresWaldo: I have to run it at like 215°C to get it to stick to itself.
Nov 9, 2017 6:49 AM - danzca6: finally ran my last robo sample blue a couple weeks ago....it was fun while it lasted...hahaha
Nov 9, 2017 6:49 AM - Geof: I think I printed that stuff more around 230 C with high flow
Nov 9, 2017 6:50 AM - Geof: LOL Danz how many years did that sample make it?
Nov 9, 2017 6:50 AM - danzca6: I had 3 of them...lot longer than it should...just used it for quick prototypes that would be in the trash after
Nov 9, 2017 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: I printed the same Vase mode pencil cup for my daughter, one shortened by S3D and a Post-It not holder, I tried to print something with a lot of corners and short runs and it was a bear to work with.
    Nov 9, 2017 6:51 AM - Geof: 3 of them? lol.
Nov 9, 2017 6:52 AM - danzca6: hahaha....yeah Robo sent me them as an "I'm sorry we screwed up you order" gift...it was great
Nov 9, 2017 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, how is the MagicSpace filament working out?
Nov 9, 2017 6:54 AM - danzca6: that stuff works really well for $12...now it's $21...I'd probably get hatchbox from PS for that price
    Nov 9, 2017 6:54 AM - danzca6: very similar quality
Nov 9, 2017 6:55 AM - WheresWaldo: They still have a few colors left at $15.26
Nov 9, 2017 6:56 AM - WheresWaldo: I saw at least Black and Blue last night
    Nov 9, 2017 6:56 AM - danzca6: yeah I saw that...that's not too bad still
Nov 9, 2017 6:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Prime makes it worth while.
Nov 9, 2017 6:57 AM - WheresWaldo: There is White too correction on price $15.29
Nov 9, 2017 6:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, do you have any black soot on the top of the right rear stepper mother? The belts aren't too tight but one seems to be shedding.
Nov 9, 2017 6:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, just saw a red spool too.
Nov 9, 2017 7:00 AM - danzca6: hahaha...trying not to stock pile too much at the moment...hopefully those prices will remain in a month...of course Black Friday might show some good deals from PS
Nov 9, 2017 7:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, my daughter wants a Sony X800E 4K HDR 43" to use as a PC monitor and I want an XBox One X and a commuter bicycle.
Nov 9, 2017 7:07 AM - WheresWaldo: Don't really need anything on the printer side, unless the Fuse 1 comes down to about half price.
    Nov 9, 2017 7:07 AM - danzca6: those aren't cheap
    Nov 9, 2017 7:07 AM - danzca6: I have an xbox 360 and a one...trying to convince myself I don't need the X
Nov 9, 2017 7:08 AM - danzca6: of course that would also mean a new 4K tv to get the bang for buck
    Nov 9, 2017 7:08 AM - danzca6: haha
Nov 9, 2017 7:08 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo, no I dont. I retracked my belts before I started printing as a pre check (learned my lesson from my UM)
Nov 9, 2017 7:08 AM - Geof: may need to move that pulley above the debris a bit one way or the other depending on how the belt wants to track.
    Nov 9, 2017 7:09 AM - danzca6: retracked
Nov 9, 2017 7:09 AM - WheresWaldo: That is probably it.
    Nov 9, 2017 7:09 AM - danzca6: oh...got it
    Nov 9, 2017 7:09 AM - danzca6: slow today
Nov 9, 2017 7:10 AM - Geof: LOL my spelling is amazing danz ;)
Nov 9, 2017 7:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan I have had an Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Mattel Intellivision, Xbox, Xbox 360, Sega Dreamcast, Xbox One, and an XBox One S.
Nov 9, 2017 7:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Forgot the Nintendo Wii
Nov 9, 2017 7:13 AM - WheresWaldo: There is something to be said about the ease of use with a console. I do PC game on occassion. About the only platrom I don't game on is my Smartphone, I am an old geezer and think a phone should be for talking.
Nov 9, 2017 7:14 AM - danzca6: yeah I have several console machines...I don't know why I keep the old ones when I have all of the roms that I can just play emulated on a Pi...but something about the old school machine and controllers
Nov 9, 2017 7:16 AM - WheresWaldo: That is how I feel. I used to use Mame and a bunch of ripped ROM carts but it just isn't the same.
Nov 9, 2017 7:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Even though I have 1700 hours invested in Fallout 4 and coutless hours at LAN parties playing Unreal my favorite game of all time is the Sega Dreacast Crazy Taxi.
Nov 9, 2017 8:32 AM - WheresWaldo: I upped my Robo PLA profile to 220°C and it appears to be printing better.
Nov 9, 2017 9:46 AM - Geof: yea it likes it hot
Nov 9, 2017 12:40 PM - NFOsec: Some like it hot.
Nov 9, 2017 1:34 PM - WheresWaldo: Trying to use up the Robo Blue today, so far printed two prototype seat post clamps and one half of a paper towel holder.
Nov 9, 2017 1:51 PM - Dan: Hey guys hows it going
Nov 9, 2017 1:51 PM - Dan: Waldo - how you doing bud?
Nov 9, 2017 1:54 PM - WheresWaldo: Ehh, waiting on my surgeon to call me back, doing some design work in the mean time.
    Nov 9, 2017 1:54 PM - Dan: OH man
Nov 9, 2017 1:55 PM - WheresWaldo: How are you guys doing?
Nov 9, 2017 1:55 PM - Dan: Are you going to be around for a little while? I wanted to talk to you.
Nov 9, 2017 1:55 PM - WheresWaldo: Yep, I'll PM you my number
    Nov 9, 2017 1:55 PM - Dan: cool
    Nov 9, 2017 1:56 PM - WheresWaldo: PM sent.
Nov 9, 2017 2:36 PM - Toro1966: Think I am going to pull the trigger on the Pallette +. anyone have any experience with it?
Nov 9, 2017 2:37 PM - WheresWaldo: Ask Geof, I don't think he has one but I am pretty sure he has researched it thuroughly.
Nov 9, 2017 2:38 PM - daniel871: I think Geof has one, but he hasn't said that much about it other than "it does what it says it does".
    Nov 9, 2017 2:38 PM - daniel871: Which isn't actually a whole lot in practical terms.
Nov 9, 2017 2:39 PM - daniel871: Someone that has both ought to do a comparison of the Prusa MMU and the Palette+ to demonstrate how much material is lost in their respective priming pillars.
Nov 9, 2017 2:39 PM - Toro1966: I almmost bought the Prisa Mk3 but I have three other printers and would rather be able to use any of them to do multi-color
Nov 9, 2017 2:40 PM - daniel871: Because as far as print quality goes the examples I've seen from each look pretty much the same.
Nov 9, 2017 2:40 PM - Toro1966: Unfortunately you can only use the Prusa with Prusas machine
Nov 9, 2017 2:41 PM - daniel871: Yeah, but since you can only use it with one machine at a time anyway, I don't see the cost difference of Palette+ plus Printer being worth it over the cost of Prusa plus MMU.
Nov 9, 2017 2:41 PM - daniel871: Unless you're doing something ridiculous like feeding a Monoprice Mini with the Palette+
    Nov 9, 2017 2:41 PM - daniel871: (to make the pricing comparable)
Nov 9, 2017 2:50 PM - Toro1966: My issue with Prusa's machine is not that it is not awesome - it's that it's too small.
Nov 9, 2017 2:51 PM - Toro1966: I want to print larger things which is why I bought the Tornado. Now that i am getting it tuned up, I would like to print large multi-color objects. Can't do that with the Prusa.
Nov 9, 2017 3:08 PM - daniel871: Okay, but before you buy it, see how big the priming/waste pillar is going to be using the Palette+ to print huge multi-color objects.
Nov 9, 2017 4:39 PM - Geof: Dont have a pallete. Have the sigma lol. Know people woth the pallete. Its a pain but works im told

Nov 9, 2017 at 8:54 PM - Toro1966: This is the pallette+ From what I understand, significant differences between the two generations. I guess I'll know soon enough. Ordered it yesterday.
    Nov 10, 2017 at 4:29 AM - daniel871: Hm... [IMG]
Nov 10, 2017 at 4:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey Dan how's it going?
Nov 10, 2017 at 5:14 AM - daniel871: Going okay. It's Friday at any rate. Been kind of an exhausting week (14-hour days and a meeting at 10 today about the reason for the 14 hour days).
Nov 10, 2017 at 5:14 AM - daniel871: And still having to finish the projects after the meeting before I leave today, possibly having to work tomorrow.
Nov 10, 2017 at 5:15 AM - Geof: Hey Toro, Late to the party but the Pallete Plus is multi material including PVA (I think) Where the Pallete (the one I played with a test unit long long ago) was just PLA. Both 1.75 only
Nov 10, 2017 at 5:15 AM - daniel871: Mini delta is on hold waiting on warranty parts. I'll worry about modifying 32-bit Marlin to work with the board later as a long-term project.
Nov 10, 2017 at 5:36 AM - WheresWaldo: I haven't followed 32-bit Marlin, how far along are they? That is Marlin 2.0, correct?
Nov 10, 2017 at 5:43 AM - daniel871: I think they've got the Duet board nailed down pretty well, it's just going through the process of setting up the board-related files so things go through the right pins/etc.
Nov 10, 2017 at 5:46 AM - daniel871: Wait, never mind. The project was dumped in favor of putting Reprapfirmware on it and the functionality is just similar.

    Nov 10, 2017 at 5:56 AM - Geof: totally possible right...right?...RIGHT! lol
    Nov 10, 2017 at 6:01 AM - danzca6: I thought it was a neat project
Nov 10, 2017 at 6:01 AM - danzca6: Well... Off to work. Enjoy the day all
Nov 10, 2017 at 6:12 AM - Geof: it is a neat project, I was just messing around :D

Nov 10, 2017 at 8:52 AM - daniel871: Keep the money, tell them to fuck off, you signed no contract and the money was labelled as a "tip"

Nov 10, 2017 at 9:56 AM - Geof: I think the real point to all that is trying to show "honest reviews" when it seems people arnt doing reviews anymore lol. I dont get it.
Nov 10, 2017 at 9:56 AM - Geof: doesn't much matter what any of us think though :D
Nov 10, 2017 at 10:01 AM - daniel871: I did get a laugh out of Tevo asking TheJATMN for backup and he acted like he didn't know what they were talking about.

Nov 10, 2017 at 10:05 AM - Geof: they are all influenced in my opinion in one way or another. If you get a free machine I would think its hard to be biased as you dont want to piss them off.
Nov 10, 2017 at 10:05 AM - Geof: Now if you buy your machine your also biased as you paid good money and dont want to say its a POS lol
Nov 10, 2017 at 10:07 AM - daniel871: I do want to see Tom get an Anet and go through the list of all the bullshit wrong with it, though.
Nov 10, 2017 at 10:08 AM - daniel871: I like the ones where they return the machines instead of getting to keep them.
Nov 10, 2017 at 10:09 AM - daniel871: As few and far between as those are.
Nov 10, 2017 at 10:10 AM - Geof: Very rare. But as I've said before I would not start up a youtube channel. To much time and lost investment IMO.
Nov 10, 2017 at 10:11 AM - Geof: I think Tom and Angus are the only two 3D Printing youtubers doing it full time, cant imagine how tight that would make things.
Nov 10, 2017 at 11:23 AM - daniel871: I'm sure they did alright when Youtube was allowing them to have monetized videos instead of removing that from everything they post (so that they rely more on Patreon support now).

Nov 12, 2017 at 2:27 PM - WheresWaldo: Yeah I posted that this morning. It is in Off Topic.
    Nov 12, 2017 at 2:29 PM - danzca6: Well I guess that's how often I get in the forum anymore :)
Nov 12, 2017 at 2:46 PM - Printed Solid: That might be the strangest product description I've seen.
Nov 12, 2017 at 2:46 PM - Printed Solid: "Notice - Amazon is the only authorized seller of Robo 3D items on Amazon.com. Items purchased from other third parties may not be factory new and subject to voided warranties."
Nov 12, 2017 at 2:47 PM - Printed Solid: leave it to Robo to negotiate a deal with a distributor, but then say any sellers using that distributor who happen to be using amazon as a sales channel are selling bogus product.
Nov 12, 2017 at 4:47 PM - Geof: Seems legit lol and yes i copied waldos post and tweeted. Good buy
Nov 12, 2017 at 6:19 PM - WheresWaldo: I would never have posted it if it didn't say shipped and sold by Amazon.

Nov 13, 2017 5:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep a good price for polycarbonate filament
Nov 13, 2017 5:47 AM - Geof: indeed. I use alot of their PC, prints great.
Nov 13, 2017 5:50 AM - daniel871: That Amazon link in the thread still shows the same $399.99 price for me when I click it.
    Nov 13, 2017 5:51 AM - daniel871: Must be an inventory thing rather than a time-limit thing.
Nov 13, 2017 5:51 AM - jbigler1986: Robo is in my kids room. They use it. I rarely use it. I have a cnc router and laser engraver. I use those almost daily
    Nov 13, 2017 5:52 AM - danzca6: JB! How are you man?
Nov 13, 2017 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: I messaged Robo about getting a new case for it but never got a response. Assholes
Nov 13, 2017 5:52 AM - danzca6: you going to MRRF next year?
    Nov 13, 2017 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: I'm good. You?
Nov 13, 2017 5:53 AM - danzca6: Good....not looking forward to winter already at our doorstep
Nov 13, 2017 5:53 AM - daniel871: If I hadn't shitcanned the case for the R1 when I stripped it for parts I'd say you could have mine, oh well.
Nov 13, 2017 5:53 AM - danzca6: but I'll hav emore indoor time to play with the printer
Nov 13, 2017 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: Doubtful. Its only like 2 hours away from me but I'm so Damn busy and traveling all the time for horse and dog related stuff I don't have much free time
Nov 13, 2017 5:53 AM - daniel871: My kid brother broke his left tibia in two places Saturday, so helping with that is going to be my maximum amount of personal drama to deal with for now, lol.
    Nov 13, 2017 5:54 AM - danzca6: ouch
Nov 13, 2017 5:54 AM - daniel871: Told him to be glad he wasn't a horse when he was on pain killers and able to think.
    Nov 13, 2017 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: That sucks
Nov 13, 2017 5:55 AM - daniel871: Assholes at the hospital put his leg in a temporary cast to immobilize it and made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for Thursday. We're like "Really?"
Nov 13, 2017 5:56 AM - daniel871: Mom's calling said orthopedic office to see about getting in sooner, but if he's stuck waiting that long the breaks will be trying to heal in place and have to be broken again to fix.
Nov 13, 2017 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: Gotta love idiots at the emergency room. 10 years ago I fractured my ankle in 2 places. Hospital couldn't see anything on the xray. Sent the same exact xray to orthopedic that I had to go to 2 days later and he saw the fractures right away.
Nov 13, 2017 6:00 AM - daniel871: Yeah, these were pretty obvious fractures. Total disconnect at the lower fracture point, partial break at the upper fracture point. I'm hurting just thinking about the image.
Nov 13, 2017 6:04 AM - danzca6: Geof, thanks for the link to that Polymaker PC-Plus...got $5 credit for my next blu ray on top of the sale for taking slower shipping.
Nov 13, 2017 6:13 AM - WheresWaldo: Danz when I put it in my cart I was only offered $5 off beauty products. Maybe Amazon is trying to tell me something.
Nov 13, 2017 6:17 AM - Geof: for sure Danz, I use a bunch of that PC. Waldo...I dont know how they pull that stuff...:D luck of the draw?
Nov 13, 2017 6:18 AM - WheresWaldo: How does it print? The eSun PC warps very badly.
Nov 13, 2017 6:24 AM - danzca6: Hahaha...WW every once and a while I get a discount that I want for slower shipping. Mostly their food pantry discounts and only at a buck. I take games, dvd, and digital content discounts when they pop up unless I really am in a rush.
Nov 13, 2017 6:24 AM - Geof: All pc is prone to warp. Likes it hot. Buildtak will make pc stick well. Use a bit of glue stick.
Nov 13, 2017 6:25 AM - danzca6: Thanks for the tip Geof...I may need to get some Buildtak someday
Nov 13, 2017 6:25 AM - Geof: Sometimes its included in the box! :D
    Nov 13, 2017 6:25 AM - danzca6: What?...bonuses keep coming in
    Nov 13, 2017 6:25 AM - danzca6: hahaha
Nov 13, 2017 6:25 AM - Geof: Waldo the R2 runs polycarbonate great. the door helps a ton, stick a box on the top of the machine.
Nov 13, 2017 6:26 AM - Geof: I cant guarantee amazon boxes do but I buy a case at a time from Matt and each box has a 6x6 or 8x8 square. Cant remember which.
Nov 13, 2017 6:26 AM - Geof: gotta be 6x6 because its to small to fit on my UM. lol.
Nov 13, 2017 6:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Will need to try that, I have issues with the eSun. I still have a sealed roll of Alloy 910 I need to try out.
Nov 13, 2017 6:27 AM - Geof: 910 prints fine with just the door shut.
Nov 13, 2017 6:28 AM - Geof: PC on the R2 did fine in my print room but no drafts and the part was under 80mm diameter so not a great warp test.
Nov 13, 2017 6:29 AM - Geof: print room is at a steady 67 deg. so I printed at 245 and 90 on the bed. Glue stick on the PEI to keep it from sticking to hard.
Nov 13, 2017 6:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Aren't you using the new bed?
Nov 13, 2017 6:29 AM - Geof: 910 was 250 and 50 with glue stick I think, might have been 245...I think I posted it in the filament section for R2
    Nov 13, 2017 6:29 AM - Geof: I dont have a new bed yet :(
    Nov 13, 2017 6:30 AM - daniel871: China Post takes a while.
Nov 13, 2017 6:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan said he would send me one from the next batch (not the current batch) hoping I see it before the end of the year.
Nov 13, 2017 6:31 AM - Geof: yea Ryan is sending one to me when they get them in, I said I was fine until they had spares laying around. No rush.
Nov 13, 2017 6:31 AM - Geof: new PS too at some point.
Nov 13, 2017 6:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Been lucky, no pogo pin issues not tears in the PEI but I don't actually remove the bed unless I am trying to clean weeks of hairspray.
Nov 13, 2017 6:32 AM - Geof: one set of pogo failed, I imagine this replacement will again soon. She gets ran hard. once it failes I'm hardwiring the pogo connection to the bed until the new bed comes in :D
Nov 13, 2017 6:32 AM - Geof: those pogo boards are damn expensive and I hate waiting for them :D
    Nov 13, 2017 6:32 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Nov 13, 2017 6:32 AM - WheresWaldo: My PSU screams like a banshee. I alreay pulled it apart twice to lube the fan, only helps for about a week.
Nov 13, 2017 6:33 AM - Geof: yea I just let it scream lol. Will eventually just pull it apart and replace that fan (have one laying around)
Nov 13, 2017 6:33 AM - Geof: a few minutes with the iron and all will be good :D
Nov 13, 2017 6:34 AM - daniel871: Why not just have the connection to the pogo board be XT60s or whatever with some slack in the wires that allow for the bed to be adjusted?
Nov 13, 2017 6:34 AM - WheresWaldo: I have a Delta 3 blade that runs at something like 5000 rpm. It roars like a jet engine when running and is probably quieter than that cheap fan in the Robo PSU.
Nov 13, 2017 6:35 AM - daniel871: It's not like the bed itself is going to be doing a ton of moving around relative to the connection once installed & leveled.
Nov 13, 2017 6:35 AM - Geof: Daniel, dont have any laying around but plenty of flexible wire and solder
Nov 13, 2017 6:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan I am a big fan of XT60 connectors, I like them almost as much as Anderson Power Poles.
    Nov 13, 2017 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: Robo using shitty fans? nooooooooooo
Nov 13, 2017 6:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Everybody uses shitty fans.
Nov 13, 2017 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: Hell the R1 fans on the psu sucked too
    Nov 13, 2017 6:38 AM - daniel871: They're pretty cheap, Geof: https://www.amazon.com/OOOUSE-XT60-Connector-Pairs-pairs/dp/B005FAPYXS
Nov 13, 2017 6:39 AM - daniel871: $3 for (5) pairs and slow shipping, probably have some on Prime for not much more.
Nov 13, 2017 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: How are the R2 sales? Is it any good?
Nov 13, 2017 6:39 AM - daniel871: I've cared a lot less about fan noise since moving my printers into an external building.
Nov 13, 2017 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: I haven't checked out any reviews or anything. I refuse to buy it no matter what
Nov 13, 2017 6:41 AM - daniel871: The R2 looks like hot garbage to me for the price point they put it at. I just can't see paying that much for it.
Nov 13, 2017 6:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Out of the box expedrience is 100x better than the R1
    Nov 13, 2017 6:42 AM - daniel871: That's a very low bar to clear though.
    Nov 13, 2017 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: lmao. true
Nov 13, 2017 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: the price is like $1200? May be way off
Nov 13, 2017 6:42 AM - daniel871: I've not seen any prints off of an R2 that justify paying 2X the price of an MK3.
    Nov 13, 2017 6:42 AM - daniel871: $1599
    Nov 13, 2017 6:43 AM - jbigler1986:
Nov 13, 2017 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: It works pretty much the way you expect a printer to work. It has a few issues that require tweaking some settings, but overall, it is about as plug and play as you can get.
Nov 13, 2017 6:43 AM - Geof: Daniel, Thanks for the link. I really should pick some up at some point lol. Direct wiring probably isn't always best.
Nov 13, 2017 6:44 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan that is the only thing you and I are in total agreement. Pricing. I think the R2 should be selling for $999 not $1499
Nov 13, 2017 6:44 AM - Geof: Daniel and JB I've been relatively impressed with the performance of the R2. The C2 is next I think, need something good for local schools and libraries.
Nov 13, 2017 6:45 AM - daniel871: I wish Thomas Sanladerer would give it a review. Joel Telling's review was funny because of the "it's like a high schooler that could be getting straight A's settling for bare C's" metaphor, but want something more detailed.
Nov 13, 2017 6:45 AM - Geof: frankly unless your a maker (not school and library) lol, the MK3 and MK2 just cant do the job.
Nov 13, 2017 6:45 AM - Geof: need more safety for the kiddos.
Nov 13, 2017 6:45 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I don't see them selling many units at that price. Didn't they do a kickstarter for the R2 as well
Nov 13, 2017 6:45 AM - Geof: Yes they did.
    Nov 13, 2017 6:45 AM - daniel871: They did.
Nov 13, 2017 6:45 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof EC3 connectors are a bit cheaper and would work in this application also.

Nov 13, 2017 6:46 AM - Geof: everyone has to remember this is gen 1, totally different than the R1 series so both customers and Robo are learning as they go. If you all recall the original Prusa wasn't so hot.
    Nov 13, 2017 6:46 AM - Geof: :D
    Nov 13, 2017 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...1&crid=3U72EI3FEANAB&rh=i:aps,k:ec3+connector
Nov 13, 2017 6:47 AM - daniel871: That excuse works in 2012, not so much in TYOOL 2017.
Nov 13, 2017 6:47 AM - Geof: it works for every machine first gen.
Nov 13, 2017 6:47 AM - daniel871: Especially not given the competition at the $1,600 price range
Nov 13, 2017 6:47 AM - Geof: Even my sigma when I got it was....lacking.
    Nov 13, 2017 6:47 AM - Geof: and the sigma was 2600 :D
Nov 13, 2017 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: Ridiculous to do any other kickstarter though. Are they going to do one Every time they want to make a new product?
Nov 13, 2017 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, bookmark this page for a connector reference, smart guy http://www.tjinguytech.com/reviews/rc-connectors
Nov 13, 2017 6:48 AM - Geof: not saying their arnt better machines, their certainly are. But I am keen to see what they do with the R2
Nov 13, 2017 6:49 AM - Geof: Bookmarked, thanks waldo.
Nov 13, 2017 6:49 AM - Geof: JB alot of companies are doing kickstarters for revised machines.
Nov 13, 2017 6:49 AM - daniel871: Nah, JB. They'll change their company name and create entirely new Kickstarter profiles every time they run one.
Nov 13, 2017 6:49 AM - Geof: Seems the way it works now. Smart for the buisness, get cash before you spend it on tooling and the such.
Nov 13, 2017 6:49 AM - daniel871: Said companies do them under the same company profile though, Geof.
Nov 13, 2017 6:50 AM - Geof: Robo is still Robo, just dropped the 3D ;)
    Nov 13, 2017 6:50 AM - daniel871: Nah. Here's the company profile for the R2/C2 campaign. https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/1238702276/created
Nov 13, 2017 6:51 AM - jbigler1986: I would help a company once if I liked the product. If they don't do well enough to not need a kickstarter on a nee machine then the trend will most likely continue. No thanks
    Nov 13, 2017 6:51 AM - daniel871: Here's the profile used in the original campaign. https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/1682938109/created
Nov 13, 2017 6:52 AM - daniel871: It's not hard to find with about ten seconds of time on Google. But having the disconnect instead of editing your profile as you launch new projects is a bit dishonest.
Nov 13, 2017 6:53 AM - jbigler1986: They don't care. Are they using mattercrap with the new one?
    Nov 13, 2017 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep
Nov 13, 2017 6:53 AM - daniel871: LOL yeah, but they did at least add a custom profile to Cura and offer it as an option.
Nov 13, 2017 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: I am surprised how many people actually like MatterControl
Nov 13, 2017 6:53 AM - Geof: tons of people use it. Its simple. If all your doing is simple prints its likely the easiest slicer to use.
Nov 13, 2017 6:54 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I keep seeing posts about it in other 3d printing groups and my posts of "I found the problem!" referencing it are met with "What are you talking about, it works fine for me!"
Nov 13, 2017 6:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Or just printing stuff from Thingiverse. Can't remember the last time a printed something from there.
Nov 13, 2017 6:55 AM - daniel871: I printed that fractal pyramid thing from there because it was neat and I couldn't be bothered to recreate it myself.
Nov 13, 2017 6:55 AM - Geof: I print alot of desk sitters for people.
Nov 13, 2017 6:55 AM - WheresWaldo: I have it installed so I can occasionaly answer questions, but I have four other control programs loaded too.
Nov 13, 2017 6:55 AM - Geof: Its a good outlet for people that want 3D Printed stuff that have no design skills :D
Nov 13, 2017 6:55 AM - jbigler1986: Weren't they going to do a subscription based thing to buy 3d models? What happened with that
    Nov 13, 2017 6:56 AM - daniel871: CGTrader.com you mean?
    Nov 13, 2017 6:56 AM - daniel871: It's still alive.
Nov 13, 2017 6:56 AM - Geof: I wont reinstall matter control lol. I despise it and refuse to even try. I have cura in 3 or 4 revs, PE Slicer, S3D and the zortrax Zsuite and thats to many IMO lol
Nov 13, 2017 6:56 AM - WheresWaldo: They have a way now to voluntarily tip a designer. So far this year I have gotten something like $12.36 for my designs
Nov 13, 2017 6:56 AM - daniel871: I keep meaning to play with Slic3r Prusa Edition but I have S3D tuned to the filaments I use and it's too much :effort:
Nov 13, 2017 6:57 AM - Geof: I include a 5.00 tip if someone sends me a file from thingiverse in the bill :D
Nov 13, 2017 6:57 AM - Geof: Daniel its really not as great as everyone says IMO
    Nov 13, 2017 6:57 AM - Geof: I still prefer S3D
    Nov 13, 2017 6:57 AM - Geof: five bucks isn't much. I call it a set up charge :D
    Nov 13, 2017 6:58 AM - WheresWaldo: I have Slic3r PE, FlashForge FlashPrint, Cura 3, Repetier-host, S3D and MC
Nov 13, 2017 6:58 AM - Geof: ah crap forgot about the D7! lol. yep flashprint and the D7 flavor of creationworkshop
Nov 13, 2017 6:59 AM - WheresWaldo: I dumped CW it just sucks.
Nov 13, 2017 6:59 AM - Geof: I use it to add the raft to my parts lol!
    Nov 13, 2017 6:59 AM - Geof: :D
Nov 13, 2017 6:59 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo, you using monocure rapid on your dlp?
Nov 13, 2017 6:59 AM - Geof: I'm up to 80 sec burn in and 14 sec cure times! its rediculous!
Nov 13, 2017 6:59 AM - Geof: lol Wanhao resin is 80 Sec burn in and 7 sec cure
Nov 13, 2017 6:59 AM - WheresWaldo: I built a raft in Fusion 360 and just add it to the plate in FlashPrint, Instant raft.
Nov 13, 2017 7:00 AM - Geof: thats a pretty smart idea! Just manually set the supported file on top of the raft?
Nov 13, 2017 7:00 AM - Geof: Then import to Nano?
Nov 13, 2017 7:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes, I am about 55 sec burn and 7 sec layer cure.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:00 AM - jbigler1986: S3D is by far the best
Nov 13, 2017 7:01 AM - WheresWaldo: That is for clear, about 65 sec base and 8 sec layers on the opaque.
Nov 13, 2017 7:01 AM - Geof: no shit waldo? I think my UV LED Array is slowly dying lol.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:01 AM - Geof: Yea I'm running the white.
Nov 13, 2017 7:01 AM - WheresWaldo: The Opaque resins just take longer.
Nov 13, 2017 7:01 AM - Geof: Will get a new array coming and see what shakes. for Rapid it isn't lol.
Nov 13, 2017 7:01 AM - Geof: 14 sec though? Thats intense on the FEP
Nov 13, 2017 7:02 AM - jbigler1986: Is hatchbox still the best cheapest filament on Amazon? I havent had to order any in like a year
Nov 13, 2017 7:02 AM - WheresWaldo: I need to replace my FEP sheet, It is no longer non-stick
Nov 13, 2017 7:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Hatchbox is good, but cheap filaments are getting better.
Nov 13, 2017 7:03 AM - Geof: I dont think mine is every non stick lol!
Nov 13, 2017 7:03 AM - Geof: I dont get floaties in the vat I get stuck pieces to the FEP, even new.
Nov 13, 2017 7:03 AM - Geof: Zyltech, Xyperland and a few others are cheaper than hatchbox and run fine JB
Nov 13, 2017 7:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Danz just bought some Magic(something) and he said it was good, PLA
    Nov 13, 2017 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: Hmm. I will do a quick search and see what I find
Nov 13, 2017 7:04 AM - WheresWaldo: The Magic stuff was an Amazon Daily Deal last week just over $12 for a 1kg roll
    Nov 13, 2017 7:05 AM - jbigler1986: AMZ3D? Wtf is that? Amazon's own filament
Nov 13, 2017 7:05 AM - daniel871: LOL, people are still arguing about that Tevo mess from last week with Tom. Claiming he went along with some Gearbest thing with the CR-10 "mini" even though his post about it was a sarcastic one and he hasn't done anything with the box yet.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:06 AM - daniel871: I think AMZ3D is a reseller account.
Nov 13, 2017 7:07 AM - Geof: I have a few amz pla and abs. It runs fine
    Nov 13, 2017 7:07 AM - WheresWaldo: AMZ3D has a website, not much to look at https://www.amz3d.com/
Nov 13, 2017 7:08 AM - Geof: I thought they just sold through amazon lol!
    Nov 13, 2017 7:08 AM - daniel871: "The Best Filament"
Nov 13, 2017 7:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Their site points only links to Amazon
Nov 13, 2017 7:09 AM - Geof: Lol arnt they all
Nov 13, 2017 7:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Actually they have a FB page and Twitter account and one image on instagram
Nov 13, 2017 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: Their reviews seem good. Screw it. I will try it. Plus I can get same day delivery
Nov 13, 2017 7:12 AM - danzca6: Yeah bought a roll of this for $12 and prints as good as hatchbox PLA http://a.co/6ZIFB9y
Nov 13, 2017 7:13 AM - Geof: same day delivery! Lucky! lol
Nov 13, 2017 7:13 AM - Geof: I will have to give that stuff a try.
Nov 13, 2017 7:13 AM - Geof: Worse comes to worse I can run it through the gmax and use it up quick lol
Nov 13, 2017 7:14 AM - jbigler1986: That stuff was 6 bucks more than the AMZ3D one. We shall see how it is by the end of the day
Nov 13, 2017 7:15 AM - jbigler1986: I could have went to Frys and got some. But shaxon and MG chemicals filament sucks
Nov 13, 2017 7:15 AM - Geof: yea heard nothing but bad things from Shaxon. The only real bad filament I've used thats been in spec is inland. I hate that stuff.
Nov 13, 2017 7:16 AM - jbigler1986: I do have a brand new sealed box of ABS but we all know how that shit prints on the R1
Nov 13, 2017 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: Shaxon is probably the worst filament I have every used. Plus its more expensive than hatchbox
Nov 13, 2017 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: The stuff I tried using today has way to much moisture in it. It was in the garage for months. Whoops
Nov 13, 2017 7:19 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, that is strange, Inland is supposed to be relabeled eSun specifically for MicroCenter.
Nov 13, 2017 7:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Wished we had a MicroCenter in Charlotte
    Nov 13, 2017 7:20 AM - jbigler1986: I think I tried esun once. It wasn't bad
Nov 13, 2017 7:21 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I would have to drive 3 hours for one. Frys is 45 minutes for me and that place is awesome.

Nov 13, 2017 7:22 AM - Geof: I run esun no issues. Inland just doesnt.
Nov 13, 2017 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: Anyone seen Mkelly or Bill Monroe or any of those guys lately
Nov 13, 2017 7:22 AM - Geof: Jb i only run abs on my zortrax units, the r2 and my UM.
Nov 13, 2017 7:23 AM - Geof: Bills here now and then, not much of MK. Think Desktop Metals keeps him busy
Nov 13, 2017 7:24 AM - danzca6: MG and MK show up on a very rare occassion these days...see MK on Twitter still though
Nov 13, 2017 7:25 AM - daniel871: Okay, I saw something sufficiently creepy to take my mind off some of my personal troubles.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:25 AM - daniel871: http://abcnews.go.com/US/armed-man-america-mass-shootings/story?id=50704521
Nov 13, 2017 7:25 AM - danzca6: Bill used to be here every morning, but the shoutbox hasn't been active like it used to be...today being an exception of course
Nov 13, 2017 7:26 AM - daniel871: Holy shit watch the video until the very end. Things go from "OK weird rich dude" to "HOLY SHIT THIS GUY IS INSANE" pretty quickly when the mannequins appear.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:26 AM - jbigler1986: I haven't seen MG in like 2 years
Nov 13, 2017 7:26 AM - daniel871: (the dialogue does nuts much earlier, but the video gets super weird when the mannequins show up)
    Nov 13, 2017 7:26 AM - danzca6: Yeah JB....the good ol days
Nov 13, 2017 7:28 AM - Geof: shout box is just quiet, forum as well. Only real posts are troubleshooting. Not much in the way of projects and the such.
Nov 13, 2017 7:28 AM - WheresWaldo: Its the season
Nov 13, 2017 7:29 AM - Geof: very well could be. Seems alot of new users frequent thingiverse and facebook groups and dont join the forum.
Nov 13, 2017 7:29 AM - Geof: I personally cant do facebook. No way to search for information that you want. Thats whats hard about the D7. I appreciate this forum for what it is and the contents in it. Huge resource.
Nov 13, 2017 7:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Ever try to help someone on FB? That is an exercise in futility.
Nov 13, 2017 7:30 AM - Geof: Twitter is about the same way. Only nice thing is being able to put a post to thread here or PM them.
Nov 13, 2017 7:30 AM - WheresWaldo: FB is even worse than Google+
    Nov 13, 2017 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: I refuse to go on facebook
Nov 13, 2017 7:31 AM - Geof: I dont do either of those lol.
Nov 13, 2017 7:31 AM - Geof: just cant do it. to much nonsense.
Nov 13, 2017 7:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Here is a must have, A gaming chair that blows air up your ass http://ttpremium.com/product/x-comfort-air-gaming-chair-black-red/
    Nov 13, 2017 7:33 AM - Geof: LMAO
    Nov 13, 2017 7:33 AM - Geof: I dont game that much ;)
    Nov 13, 2017 7:33 AM - jbigler1986: I don't really do Twitter either
Nov 13, 2017 7:33 AM - Geof: I do, helps bring in customers lol.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: I wish I had time to game.
Nov 13, 2017 7:36 AM - WheresWaldo: Gaming chairs are just a way for companies to separate sheeple from their money.
Nov 13, 2017 7:36 AM - daniel871: I wish I *cared* to game. I have time, but I'd rather read books lately. I've got a bunch of games I bought a few years ago that I still haven't gotten around to finishing yet.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:36 AM - daniel871: Oh god I'm getting old.
Nov 13, 2017 7:40 AM - Geof: Im pushin 30 ;) dont know id say old yet lol
    Nov 13, 2017 7:41 AM - WheresWaldo: I'm knocking on 60 and still game.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:43 AM - daniel871: 36.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:46 AM - Geof: :D waldo your winnin buddy
Nov 13, 2017 7:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Of course I still ride a bicycle too.
Nov 13, 2017 7:51 AM - daniel871: Well, with Winter coming on I can do a bit more workout-wise without feeling like I'm gonna die from the heat.
    Nov 13, 2017 7:56 AM - Geof: the most riding I do is in a car ;) lol I'm lazy :D
    Nov 13, 2017 8:02 AM - daniel871: Missed a perfect chance for an "under your mum/wife/sister/whatever" joke.
    Nov 13, 2017 8:02 AM - Geof: Lol!
Nov 13, 2017 8:32 AM - Geof: anyone here with an ultimaker do this yet? https://magnetic-tool-changer.com
Nov 13, 2017 9:06 AM - daniel871: How many people around here do you think have Ultimakers?
    Nov 13, 2017 9:07 AM - Geof: not sure, thats why I asked :D
Nov 13, 2017 9:11 AM - Geof: I know at least one of us do ;)
Nov 13, 2017 9:18 AM - daniel871: I mean, it's not like there are that many used listings worth looking at. Maybe this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultimaker-...639674?hash=item3625933a3a:g:Hw8AAOSwBkRZ-Tfa
    Nov 13, 2017 9:18 AM - daniel871: *Maybe*
Nov 13, 2017 9:22 AM - Geof: not a Plus, bit on the expensive side me thinks. cost 500 ish to upgrade it to the Plus
Nov 13, 2017 10:10 AM - daniel871: Also that's an auction with almost 6 days left on it. Actual "Buy it Now" Ultimakers are much more expensive.
Nov 13, 2017 10:13 AM - Geof: Yea, I have the Original and the 2+extended. I wouldn't buy a 2. To much money wanted for them and to much money to upgrade them.
Nov 13, 2017 3:55 PM - Printed Solid: If you're going to do the magnetic tool head conversion, you're throwing away most of the + upgrade anyways.
Nov 13, 2017 3:56 PM - Printed Solid: If I had spare time, I'd love giving it a try. See how it compares to the UM3.
    Nov 13, 2017 5:38 PM - jbigler1986: Hello hello

Nov 14, 2017 5:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, how are you this morning?
Nov 14, 2017 5:38 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo. Hangin in there.
Nov 14, 2017 5:38 AM - Geof: cleaning shop for a few large tours coming through. I'm very messy lol.
    Nov 14, 2017 5:38 AM - Geof: HBU
Nov 14, 2017 5:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Waiting now for Insurance pre-approvals and the Doctors to be on the same page, otherwise nothing special.
Nov 14, 2017 5:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Been running my R2 like you do, one print after another.
Nov 14, 2017 5:41 AM - WheresWaldo: I have a stubburn roll of PETG that won.t stop stringing no matter how hot I run it. Once the wispy strings are pulled the parts look really good, but the strings are annoying, kinda like cotton candy.
Nov 14, 2017 5:46 AM - daniel871: I've recently been running PETG much colder than previously. 235C with harder retraction settings speed-wise with a little coast/wipe and a bunch of the S3D advanced options enabled so that it does all of it at the same time.
Nov 14, 2017 5:46 AM - daniel871: It's almost like everybody has changed their base material formula and it's behaving differently.
Nov 14, 2017 5:47 AM - daniel871: I'm even using the part cooling fan at about 30%, where before any cooling fan at all meant layer failure.
Nov 14, 2017 5:51 AM - Geof: most OEMs i've talked to for filament have been
Nov 14, 2017 5:51 AM - Geof: "constantly evolving their materials" to "better suit" 3d printing lol
Nov 14, 2017 5:56 AM - daniel871: "We want to sell PETG filament that people can print without an all-metal hotend"?
Nov 14, 2017 5:57 AM - daniel871: What with the usual PTFE liner failing if you go above 240C for too long (and a lot of the cheaper printers out there coming with PTFE lined hotends).
Nov 14, 2017 6:02 AM - Geof: IDK, I dont really use PETG. I print ABS fine on the "ABS machines" so no need for a substitute. :D if I need "strong" and "high temp" I just grab a spool of PC
Nov 14, 2017 6:04 AM - daniel871: What about "Gives zero shits about moisture in the air"?
    Nov 14, 2017 6:06 AM - Geof: Run more parts :D
Nov 14, 2017 6:06 AM - Geof: A spool doesn't last long enough to be effected here. Nylons maybe but I reseal them with desicant (food sealer)
Nov 14, 2017 6:25 AM - daniel871: I guess I need to build a heat chamber or something and give ABS a try.
Nov 14, 2017 6:30 AM - WheresWaldo: I need to build a box for the top of the R2 to try ABS. Geof have you run ABS on the R2?
Nov 14, 2017 6:30 AM - Geof: Yes I have. Small to medium stuff works fine as is. I put a box over the top for large items.
Nov 14, 2017 6:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Post a picture of your box setup.
Nov 14, 2017 6:31 AM - Geof: Daniel, a dehumidifier goes a long way to preserving filament in your print room. Not sure what your environment is like but the more you can control the more options you have to leaving filament out
Nov 14, 2017 6:31 AM - Geof: I dont have a picture lol. Its never the same box! lol. I just stick a box on the top of the machine lol.
Nov 14, 2017 6:31 AM - jbigler1986: Geof you got a makers shop or something?
Nov 14, 2017 6:32 AM - Geof: Will try to take one when I get back to the home shop Waldo.
Nov 14, 2017 6:32 AM - Geof: hey JB I do full time 3D Printing.
Nov 14, 2017 6:32 AM - Geof: teamed up with a machine shop at the end of January when I ran out of space for my equpiment at home lol. So now there is a home shop and a work shop
    Nov 14, 2017 6:32 AM - jbigler1986: Gotcha. Use 3dhubs if that's what it's called
Nov 14, 2017 6:33 AM - Geof: I've got one but its pretty much pointless. Most of my clients are commercial ones locally or ones that need something done and hear about me/us
Nov 14, 2017 6:33 AM - Geof: I do alot of events and go to alot of shows and hand out cards and the what not.
Nov 14, 2017 6:33 AM - jbigler1986: Do you have metal printers too?
Nov 14, 2017 6:34 AM - Geof: 3dhubs use to be ok, I think when I started I'd have 10-20 orders/month. Now the only orders are I get are polycarbonate on the Ultimaker or unprintable via hubs.
Nov 14, 2017 6:34 AM - Geof: no sir. All desktop. Metal printers (even now) cost to much to ROI in a way that I can afford.
Nov 14, 2017 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: Unprintable. Yes. Love some of the models people give you.
Nov 14, 2017 6:35 AM - Geof: working with a company on a new filament that is FDM printable, then you send it for debind and sinter and you have a stainless steel part. Will be cool to see that come to market but 3kg is 1300.00
Nov 14, 2017 6:35 AM - Geof: yea. I just run it lol. I tell them theres a problem if they argue I upcharge for PVA and run it on my sigma.
    Nov 14, 2017 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: Ouch
Nov 14, 2017 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: Where are you at in Illinois? I can get to the state line in an hour
    Nov 14, 2017 6:36 AM - Geof: Bloomington
Nov 14, 2017 6:36 AM - Geof: dead middle lol.
Nov 14, 2017 6:37 AM - jbigler1986: Hopefully it's better than Bloomington Indiana. Can't stand that town or the Hoosiers
Nov 14, 2017 6:37 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, my wife is from a Chicago suburb, Elgin, IL
Nov 14, 2017 6:45 AM - Geof: lol JB I dont know if its better or not but its here. Waldo I pass through Elgin often :D
Nov 14, 2017 6:45 AM - Geof: decent little area
Nov 14, 2017 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: She grew up in Schaumburg, I never made it outside of Chicago further than Naperville.
Nov 14, 2017 6:50 AM - Geof: I'm not a fan of chicago, much to busy for me lol
Nov 14, 2017 7:04 AM - daniel871: The shop my printers run in right now is a big open floor plan building that is 30' x 55' with 13' walls. Then you have the open area going up to the roof.
Nov 14, 2017 7:05 AM - daniel871: Fully insulated with insulated bay doors and a heating/air system that will fairly quickly take the entire building to a particular temperature as long as all doors are shut.
Nov 14, 2017 7:06 AM - daniel871: I'd have to get a pretty high volume dehumidifier and make a hole/re-seal the drain line for it and let it run for a while before seeing any benefit, I think.
Nov 14, 2017 7:06 AM - Geof: that should be more than fine, stick a dehumidifier in there and you should be good with most materials. PC really doesn't have a bad time with moisture (I'm bad about leaving it out)
Nov 14, 2017 7:06 AM - Geof: with the heat going it wont be so bad, but with the AC for sure.
Nov 14, 2017 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: Anyone used Robox filament? Its on clearance at Frys
Nov 14, 2017 7:21 AM - Geof: isn't that the chipped filament for their boombox lookin machine ? lol
Nov 14, 2017 7:24 AM - daniel871: No, they appear to have seen some kind of sense and abandoned their chipped filament model, unless Fry's has a bunch of leftover stock.
Nov 14, 2017 7:26 AM - Geof: I thought they were still chipped ? Thats how the machine knows whats loaded and sets up your profiles for you?
    Nov 14, 2017 7:28 AM - daniel871: Not according to their website.
Nov 14, 2017 7:29 AM - daniel871: Well, they have this note about it anyway: [IMG]
Nov 14, 2017 7:31 AM - daniel871: Ah, their spools have an EEPROM chip on it that the printer will read if you use their supplied filament, but if it is not present the machine will just do whatever you put in the slicer.
Nov 14, 2017 7:32 AM - daniel871: That's actually not a bad approach to it if you want to do that kind of business model.
Nov 14, 2017 7:33 AM - Geof: yea they do the plug and play type thing :D
Nov 14, 2017 7:34 AM - daniel871: They also have this item if you're a real weirdo and want to respool filament and define parameters vs. doing the slicer path for some odd reason. http://cel-uk.com/rbx01-rl.html
Nov 14, 2017 7:42 AM - Geof: ah now thats pretty neat idea
Nov 14, 2017 7:50 AM - daniel871: Other than having to buy their ridiculously priced printer to do it.
Nov 14, 2017 7:52 AM - Geof: Their printer was pretty "uppidy" back when released :D
Nov 14, 2017 7:52 AM - daniel871: There might be some cost savings here: http://cel-uk.com/3d-printer/rbx01-tree-mt1.html
Nov 14, 2017 7:53 AM - daniel871: "Buy our shelving unit and get two-three machines at a discounted price"
Nov 14, 2017 7:53 AM - Geof: lol thats funny. I'm not buying anymore machines, just blew 1300 on the Moai lol.
Nov 14, 2017 7:53 AM - Geof: lady is cutting me off :D
Nov 14, 2017 7:53 AM - Geof: she says no more! For real this time lol. thinkin time to take a break for a few months ;)
Nov 14, 2017 7:54 AM - daniel871: Share that with her and get good and cut off until after Xmas.
    Nov 14, 2017 8:04 AM - WheresWaldo: You got a Moai? Cool ;)
Nov 14, 2017 8:06 AM - Geof: lol oh she knows Dan :D
Nov 14, 2017 8:06 AM - Geof: yep ordering shortly. Waiting on the bank to give the fund transfer the ok.
Nov 14, 2017 8:07 AM - Geof: D7 is ok, just not good enough for the prototypes I'm doing. so out with the old in with Moai lol.
    Nov 14, 2017 8:08 AM - daniel871: https://i.imgur.com/rj6ZfMA.gifv
    Nov 14, 2017 8:13 AM - daniel871: Also, holy LOL. https://udba.org/DASH_600_K.mp4
Nov 14, 2017 8:14 AM - Geof: lol ignore the man behind the cardboard he's been here all along
Nov 14, 2017 8:15 AM - WheresWaldo: The Moai would be my next printer too, Angus seems to really like it.
Nov 14, 2017 8:16 AM - Geof: everyone I talk to seems to think highly of it. There also isn't much to compare it to. Its a bit unique.
Nov 14, 2017 8:16 AM - Geof: Kit version of a Form2 is how its been explained to me. Works well, good support, any resin you want 405 of course.
Nov 14, 2017 8:16 AM - Geof: I like that i can use a freakin SD card lol. I hate internet relied.
    Nov 14, 2017 9:34 AM - danzca6: amen brother...this cloud only printing is bs
Nov 14, 2017 9:36 AM - daniel871: Cloud-only slicing/printing is bullshit and whoever thought it up should be shot.
    Nov 14, 2017 9:36 AM - daniel871: Also: https://giant.gfycat.com/EntireEveryCanvasback.mp4
Nov 14, 2017 9:37 AM - danzca6: yeah the Printrbot Pro came that way...Should be called Printrbot Noob since a Pro wants options and not tied to a one size fits all setup
Nov 14, 2017 9:37 AM - danzca6: My son likes it, but I want more options
Nov 14, 2017 9:37 AM - danzca6: I at least upgraded it to now work with print via USB
    Nov 14, 2017 9:39 AM - danzca6: No SD option on it...I mean...50 cents...why the heck not?
Nov 14, 2017 9:43 AM - Geof: yea man I hate hate hate being restricted to the internet.
Nov 14, 2017 9:44 AM - Geof: I want to load a print onto a damn sd card and let the machine go from there lol.
Nov 14, 2017 9:44 AM - Geof: thats my biggest gripe with the Type A. Octoprint only. No way to load a gcode if the net is down
Nov 14, 2017 9:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Huh? OctoPrint is local network. AstroPrint is Internet
Nov 14, 2017 9:48 AM - danzca6: There is a backdoor way to load sliced gcode onto the PB internal SD card and print away offline, but so many hoops
Nov 14, 2017 9:49 AM - Geof: the type A runs off wifi. I cant direct port into it if the net is down.
    Nov 14, 2017 9:49 AM - Geof: internet I mean.
Nov 14, 2017 9:49 AM - Geof: which here happens often
Nov 14, 2017 9:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Call me dense, Wifi does not require Internet access.
Nov 14, 2017 9:50 AM - WheresWaldo: Does Type A do something stupid?
Nov 14, 2017 9:51 AM - Geof: the only way I'v ever gotten it to work is directy plugged into my modem and if the net goes out so does the octoprint for hte type a

Nov 14, 2017 9:52 AM - Geof: Idk why it works that way lol. Its just the way she rolls. And now since its at the shop it runs on Wifi, if the wifi is down I cant connect to it at all.
Nov 14, 2017 9:52 AM - WheresWaldo: So not an ordinary OctoPrint setup, they are specifically being stupid.
Nov 14, 2017 9:52 AM - Geof: the network finds the device but cant do anything with it until the internet is back
Nov 14, 2017 9:52 AM - Geof: likely so, or more likely I am.
Nov 14, 2017 9:52 AM - WheresWaldo: I bet it is a plugin that can be disabled.
Nov 14, 2017 9:53 AM - Geof: not a network computer type of guy lol. More mechanical. Computer make geof smash lol
Nov 14, 2017 9:53 AM - Geof: could be ? Not sure lol.
Nov 14, 2017 9:53 AM - danzca6: it's the Big Brother plugin where they track all your prints
Nov 14, 2017 9:53 AM - Geof: LOL! I dont want to be that guy....but....I dont think their smart enough to do such lol.
Nov 14, 2017 9:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Funny their Series 1 quickstart does not mention Internet access required, just a local IP address that DHCP should take care of on your local network. Don't you use a Router/Firewall?
Nov 14, 2017 9:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Maybe it is a Pro series thing and the one click Over-the-Air Updates.
Nov 14, 2017 9:58 AM - Geof: I"m not honestly sure what the issue is. I have a router yes, and its on wifi now. But no internet, no type A
Nov 14, 2017 9:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Not anything aboput your setup, but Type A Machines appears to make dumb choices.
Nov 14, 2017 10:00 AM - WheresWaldo: SO, want to hear something funny?
Nov 14, 2017 10:01 AM - WheresWaldo: I was printing on my R2 in a totally dark room and the first layer was close to 0.05 mm different in thickness than the same print with the lights on.
    Nov 14, 2017 10:01 AM - Geof: not suprising at all :D .
Nov 14, 2017 10:01 AM - Geof: That shiny surface becomes super shiny with a bright light on it
Nov 14, 2017 10:02 AM - WheresWaldo: But I still think the addition of ambient light code to Marlin is one of the stupidest ideas Robo has ever come up with
Nov 14, 2017 10:02 AM - danzca6: the ir sensor triggering in the dark different than in the light maybe
    Nov 14, 2017 10:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep triggered a bit different
Nov 14, 2017 10:03 AM - Geof: its not really suprising. The IR is just kind hangin out there. Really the buildtak should make a huge difference. Not sure what the nonsense their trying to do with ambient light is lol
Nov 14, 2017 10:04 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan so what I am calling the ambient light code is an addition of a G-code that dumps the current home offset and then redoes the offset.
Nov 14, 2017 10:04 AM - WheresWaldo: So just one more thing to make the print process slower than it already is.
Nov 14, 2017 10:06 AM - Geof: lol yep, home, dump it, home lol. makes sense ;D
    Nov 14, 2017 10:20 AM - danzca6: WW...that sounds very odd
Nov 14, 2017 10:25 AM - Geof: Danz, its the best! :D lol.
Nov 14, 2017 10:26 AM - Geof: rinse and repeat...over...and over...and over... and over... lol
Nov 14, 2017 10:28 AM - WheresWaldo: There is a lot of nonsense that passes for good ideas on Robo's GITHUB
    Nov 14, 2017 10:30 AM - Geof: so just ideas :D
Nov 14, 2017 10:30 AM - WheresWaldo: I think I told you what I told Dan about Robo Firmware and whether or not I was going to use it.
Nov 14, 2017 10:35 AM - Geof: lol yea you did. fair response. Why would you when you wrote your own
Nov 14, 2017 10:39 AM - daniel871: Aw, I was hoping they were going to offer you some kind of payment to straighten their bullshit out.
Nov 14, 2017 10:40 AM - WheresWaldo: They offered me a Hexagon Hotend, I begged him not to send it.
    Nov 14, 2017 10:42 AM - Geof: lol! :D
Nov 14, 2017 10:52 AM - WheresWaldo: I am about ready to take my R2 power supply apart fro the third time, This time I am going to change the fan to a Delta Super noisy but very high airflow and static pressure or a Pabst maybe.
Nov 14, 2017 10:54 AM - Geof: I thought about just cuttiing the thing out lol]
Nov 14, 2017 11:01 AM - Toro1966: Bought and returned the palette + from Mosaic. Calibration print printed fine but after that it wouldn't slice any filament. Truth in advertising, Amazon shipped just the factory box and it looked like it had been dropped when it arrived. The styrofoam inside was all tore up...
Nov 14, 2017 11:01 AM - Toro1966: What was frustrating, however, is that i wrote a ticket on their website and also sent a separate email to support and neither have been answered. having heard so much about their great customer service, I just haven't been feeling it....
    Nov 14, 2017 11:05 AM - daniel871: I tried to warn you.
Nov 14, 2017 11:06 AM - Geof: That sucks Toro. Sorry to hear man.
Nov 14, 2017 11:07 AM - daniel871: The only positive things I've ever seen/read about the Palette+ have been from clearly paid/compensated reviews, the actual users of it seem to have very few success stories.
Nov 14, 2017 11:08 AM - Hanover: What is it with 3D printing equipment and bad shipping?
    Nov 14, 2017 11:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Link
Nov 14, 2017 11:08 AM - Geof: shipping anything is bad hanover lol.
Nov 14, 2017 11:08 AM - Geof: link to what waldo?
    Nov 14, 2017 11:10 AM - Toro1966: https://www.mosaicmanufacturing.com/
Nov 14, 2017 11:15 AM - Toro1966: What made it worse is that Amazon is out of stock so I can't even reorder it.
Nov 14, 2017 11:19 AM - daniel871: At least Spectrom3d had the decency to fade away and let people forget about them.
Nov 14, 2017 11:21 AM - daniel871: Their old website stops loading when I try to go to it, but nobody has come along and bought the domain yet either. http://spectrom3d.com/
Nov 14, 2017 11:24 AM - daniel871: There was this article about them back in 2015 for the people that might not have been around: https://3dprintingindustry.com/news/spectrom-takes-full-color-3d-printing-desktop-39885/
Nov 14, 2017 11:24 AM - daniel871: Remember when Robo was promising integration with that in their R2?
Nov 14, 2017 11:34 AM - Geof: Remember when the R2 was released and the Pallete was teamed up to work correctly witht he R2 ;) lol dont live in the past man, to many failures from everyone back there.
Nov 14, 2017 12:18 PM - daniel871: Just in case anybody saw the "trending" hearing that happened today, here is a recap. [IMG]
Nov 14, 2017 12:19 PM - Geof: I dont watch the news parts lol. To frustrating.
Nov 14, 2017 12:22 PM - daniel871: I watched the livestream. There were some LOL moments like one of the congressmen with nothing to lose at this point telling Sessions "I get to ask questions, you get to answer them. You don't ask us questions in this setting because you are no longer a Senator."
Nov 14, 2017 12:23 PM - daniel871: And another one asking him "were you lying in the last hearing, the one before that, the one before that, or this one? How is what you're doing any different than the crime you prosecuted a police officer for when he repeatedly said he didn't recall doing something illegal?"
Nov 14, 2017 12:25 PM - daniel871: And the "How do you view your own testimony in these hearings in light of you stating in previous hearings that anybody who cannot recall critical actions they would take in the course of their official duties is in fact committing a criminal act by not taking said actions seriously enough to remember what they did?"
Nov 14, 2017 12:26 PM - daniel871: He got pretty mad, but then the establishment congresspeople came along and started verbally fellating him.
Nov 14, 2017 12:38 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan you need to rush out and buy some of these cables https://www.moon-audio.com/silver-dragon-network-cable.html
Nov 14, 2017 12:40 PM - daniel871: Me or one of the other dans?
Nov 14, 2017 12:41 PM - WheresWaldo: Just so you know that is 1.5 ft, 15 ft is $550 both of you guys, don't you want the best moist reliable network ever!!!!!
Nov 14, 2017 12:41 PM - WheresWaldo: most not moist
    Nov 14, 2017 12:42 PM - WheresWaldo: Shit $75 for a USB adapter
Nov 14, 2017 12:43 PM - WheresWaldo: It's digital people any monprice cable would perform the same as this at $0.75
Nov 14, 2017 12:47 PM - daniel871: Have you bought any of their printers yet, Waldo?
    Nov 14, 2017 12:49 PM - WheresWaldo: Who Monoprice?
    Nov 14, 2017 12:51 PM - daniel871: Yep.
Nov 14, 2017 12:52 PM - WheresWaldo: Nope, don't currently need another printer, have other priorities.
Nov 14, 2017 12:53 PM - WheresWaldo: Besides, I really want an MOAI
Nov 14, 2017 12:54 PM - daniel871: I've kind of backed off getting any SLA printer for a while, given how often I drop a spool and have to re-wind it I really don't want to have to deal with dropping resin.
    Nov 14, 2017 12:54 PM - daniel871: Nerve damage is a bitch.
Nov 14, 2017 12:54 PM - WheresWaldo: Resin is messy
Nov 14, 2017 1:00 PM - daniel871: On another note, the next GTA iteration is lookin' good. https://i.imgur.com/duaONxg.gifv
    Nov 14, 2017 1:00 PM - WheresWaldo: One game I don't play. Replaying Metro 2033 right now.
Nov 14, 2017 1:10 PM - daniel871: Until the Just Cause games started coming out again, I used GTA as my go-to "I want to see how hard I can push the AI before the game breaks and all NPCs start going berserk".
Nov 14, 2017 1:10 PM - daniel871: Or do silly things like turn friction to zero and watch the city turn into a gigantic pinball machine as cars go flying everywhere.
Nov 14, 2017 1:29 PM - daniel871: An interesting email from Filastruder went out if anybody gets their emails.
    Nov 14, 2017 2:12 PM - WheresWaldo: Don't ruin it
Nov 14, 2017 2:31 PM - Hanover: Anyone have an opinion on the Ultimaker 2+ Extended?
Nov 14, 2017 2:34 PM - WheresWaldo: Geof has an opinion on everything Ultimaker
Nov 14, 2017 2:42 PM - Hanover: I want a large volume printer...but just can't get myself to go Creality or Tornado. I'm starting a small printing service, so I figure being able to print large would be great here in Atlanta. We have DragonCon and MomoCon every year so there would be a demand for cosplay props, etc.
Nov 14, 2017 2:42 PM - Hanover: I was looking at the Raise N1+. But I hear the be leveling is a big issue.
Nov 14, 2017 2:43 PM - Hanover: I wonder if Prusa has any plans for a larger printer. That thought makes me want to hold off too. But right now the 2+ extended seems to be the best option for something semi-professional.
Nov 14, 2017 2:44 PM - WheresWaldo: Hanover you really need to PM Geof so you can ask questions, you seem to want to do exactly what he is already doing.
Nov 14, 2017 3:54 PM - Geof: Hanover your welcome to PM me and ill answer any questions im able to buddy
Nov 14, 2017 4:30 PM - Hanover: Thanks! Will do.
    Nov 14, 2017 6:44 PM - John Wohlfeil: Geof - any opinions on th Palette+ ?
    Nov 14, 2017 7:31 PM - jbigler1986: What's going on here

    Nov 15, 2017 at 8:11 AM - Toro1966: I don't have a CR-10 yet but am likely going to buy an S4.
Nov 15, 2017 at 8:13 AM - Toro1966: I imagine it all depends on what you are printing but to be honest, I would have no problem using the Tornado to print items if it was my business. And it only costme $368 shipped. The MK2/3 is a very nice machine but loaded with features most won't use or don't need. For folks new to the hobby, I acknowledge some of those features can be very helpful.

Nov 15, 2017 at 1:06 PM - daniel871: Well, I used that Filastruder deal I mentioned an email about to get some of that Capricorn tubing to test for a really discounted price.
Nov 15, 2017 at 1:07 PM - daniel871: Also some E3D bowden clips, another stepper motor and one of their hobb goblin gears to go on the 5mm shaft on their stepper motor.
Nov 15, 2017 at 1:23 PM - WheresWaldo: I tried to use it but by 4:02 they were all gone.
    Nov 15, 2017 at 1:23 PM - WheresWaldo: So I ordered nothing.
Nov 15, 2017 at 1:25 PM - daniel871: I had my cart ready and was hammering the code in the checkout.
Nov 15, 2017 at 1:26 PM - WheresWaldo: I did too, but had to change the credity card number, that was my downfall.
Nov 15, 2017 at 1:26 PM - daniel871: I get why they only did it for the first 200 people (because that's $10,000 of stuff they give away).
Nov 15, 2017 at 1:27 PM - daniel871: Paypal as a payment method wins again.
    Nov 15, 2017 at 1:27 PM - daniel871: :p
    Nov 15, 2017 at 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: What's up
Nov 15, 2017 at 4:11 PM - danzca6: I tried to get the filastruder deal for a panel duo screen, but paypal took a couple seconds to go through and no discount at the end :( Still 15% off today.
Nov 15, 2017 at 6:27 PM - jbigler1986: Never seen one of those in action

    Nov 16, 2017 at 3:45 AM - jbigler1986: good morning
Nov 16, 2017 at 3:45 AM - jbigler1986: anyone see issues with this model https://www.thingiverse.com/download:3679563
Nov 16, 2017 at 3:46 AM - jbigler1986: tried it twice and it prints like complete shit. layers don't adhere to each other. Only this model. Other stuff prints fine
Nov 16, 2017 at 5:36 AM - Geof: run the model through netfabb or azure web repair tool
Nov 16, 2017 at 5:36 AM - Geof: Looks like (juding by the random objetcs sitting on top of eachother) that they are seperate bodies that wernt combined but exported togather.
Nov 16, 2017 at 5:37 AM - Geof: If you use S3D use the seperate connected surfaces and you'll see all the invidiual parts. Azure online should fix it pretty quick.
Nov 16, 2017 at 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: also think the issue is with retraction. just tried a whistle and layers werent adhering well either. gonna turn it off and see how that goes
Nov 16, 2017 at 5:45 AM - jbigler1986: i can print a cube perfectly. probably bc there isn't an retraction. we will see
Nov 16, 2017 at 5:47 AM - Geof: that makes sense.
Nov 16, 2017 at 5:47 AM - Geof: if your retracting to much your under extruding when you restart the print. Whats your retraction at?
    Nov 16, 2017 at 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: s3d default. 1 sec
    Nov 16, 2017 at 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: 1mm, 30mm/s
Nov 16, 2017 at 5:56 AM - Geof: that shouldnt' be causing your issue with delam. have you done a temperature tower to find the best results with the material your using?
    Nov 16, 2017 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: nope
Nov 16, 2017 at 6:00 AM - Geof: might want to start there :D
    Nov 16, 2017 at 6:32 AM - jbigler1986: never. lol
    Nov 16, 2017 at 6:39 AM - Geof: lol :D
    Nov 16, 2017 at 6:48 AM - Geof: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/9082748509/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Nov 16, 2017 at 6:48 AM - Geof: posted this in off topic. 3D Printing handbook I just ordered that 3Dhubs put out.
Nov 16, 2017 at 7:09 AM - Toro1966: Can't believe the R1+ is now 399 on amazon brand new. Can't tell you how tempted I am to get one just for grins!
Nov 16, 2017 at 7:21 AM - danzca6: I know right? That is a tempting price for a second Robo
Nov 16, 2017 at 7:26 AM - Geof: Indeed. used ones sold for about that a year+ back lol
    Nov 16, 2017 at 8:47 AM - Toro1966: I just sold my thrid one here a month ago for $500 :)
Nov 16, 2017 at 8:47 AM - Toro1966: it did have dual fans and E3DV6 - but still not bad lol
Nov 16, 2017 at 8:48 AM - Toro1966: What I love most about the Robo is I can have a print going from completely off to good to go in about 3-4 minutes - no kidding. And they always come out well.
Nov 16, 2017 at 8:49 AM - Toro1966: Still dialing in the Tornado but so far I am liking it.
Nov 16, 2017 at 8:51 AM - Geof: What is the bed material on that thing? I saw a pic of one Red buildtak like surface?
Nov 16, 2017 at 9:54 AM - Toro1966: It is like buildtak and it sucks! The adhesive cannot handle the temps so it ends up bubbling up and because it is thick, it causes leveling issues - i.e the bubbles are higher than the rest of the level. Secondly - it stick WAY TOO WELL. No kidding - you can't get stuff off the bed. I have cut myself twice with the damn putty knife trying to remove stuff.
Nov 16, 2017 at 9:55 AM - Toro1966: So I removed it and just ordered a sheet of GeckoTek. You can print directly to the glass bed - just as with the Robo - but I figured I would try out the GeckTek. it should be here today. I ordered the EZ stick - not the plate.
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:17 AM - Geof: ah gotya. Interested to hear how that works. I had a gecko tek plate for my cold build plate ditto before I added a bed heater. Curious to your thoughts on it
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:41 AM - danzca6: Geof did you already buy that Moai from MatterHackers? I see they have 10-20% off everything tomorrow
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:47 AM - Geof: Yep already bought it.
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:47 AM - Geof: Just kind out.
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:47 AM - Geof: lol
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:48 AM - danzca6: DOH
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:48 AM - danzca6: go figure right
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:49 AM - Geof: yessir. Thats about my luck. lol.
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:50 AM - danzca6: around this time of year...always sales poking up
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:50 AM - danzca6: never can win
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:50 AM - danzca6: still waiting to hear the details for the PS BF sale event this year
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:51 AM - Geof: no sir. What really sucks is I knew about the sale (not how much just it existed) but ordered when I did because their site said 2-3 day shipping (which I needed for prototypes to get done) but in reality its more like 7 day shipping lol
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:51 AM - danzca6: has it shipped?
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:53 AM - danzca6: If not, I would cancel it and order again tomorrow
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:54 AM - Geof: yea it shipped lol. I emailed their support which will likely end with that sucks but figured worth a shot.
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:54 AM - Geof: Had I known it would be a week to ship it I would have waited for the sale lol.
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:54 AM - Toro1966: I want to get some of that filamentum gray
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:54 AM - Geof: the 2-3 day shipping made it worth it but not having to wait haha
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:55 AM - Geof: I had a sample of it somehwere, its neat lol.
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:55 AM - danzca6: well....the details about the sale are still to be announced. I saw it leaked on Twitter though
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:57 AM - Geof: yea I saw that too lol. I figure it doesn't hurt to ask and sucks to be told no ;) lol
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:57 AM - danzca6: What's up Torro? How's life on the west coast?
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:57 AM - Toro1966: Sunny and war, :)
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:57 AM - Toro1966: How's it going Dan?
    Nov 16, 2017 at 10:58 AM - Toro1966: Just been crazy busy!
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:58 AM - danzca6: cloudy and cold...hahaha...not ready for the winter. I should come out west
Nov 16, 2017 at 10:59 AM - danzca6: well I hope you are able to drive that camero still
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM - danzca6: btw, happy belated birthday...not sure what you did to top last year ;)
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM - Toro1966: Every day - with the top down!
    Nov 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM - Toro1966: Thanks brother! I actually worked lol.
    Nov 16, 2017 at 11:01 AM - danzca6: man...they do have you busy
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:01 AM - Toro1966: Should have the new Palette + tonight and am going to try and get it up and running this weekend.
    Nov 16, 2017 at 11:01 AM - danzca6: nice....I wish I could afford one
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:01 AM - danzca6: actually wish they made it open source so I could build one
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:07 AM - Toro1966: Exactly! I wasn't too happy about the price. But I bought it from amazon and I can try it for 30 days to see if the juice is worht the squeeze so to speak.
    Nov 16, 2017 at 11:17 AM - danzca6: nicely phrased
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:26 AM - Toro1966: Still fighting buying another Robo lol.
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:41 AM - Geof: I"m actually getting ready to post some pics Robo sent me done on the Pallete Toro :D
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:41 AM - Geof: they have me wanting one lol
Nov 16, 2017 at 11:41 AM - Geof: and I already didn't much care for the firs gen :D
    Nov 16, 2017 at 12:29 PM - danzca6: Geof...remember...matterhackers sells the pallete so you can get a discount tomorrow...hahaha
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:31 PM - Geof: lol I'm done until after the Moai comes in. They said on twitter they'd price match my order for tomorrows sale :O
    Nov 16, 2017 at 12:32 PM - Geof:  :D
    Nov 16, 2017 at 12:35 PM - danzca6: I just saw that
    Nov 16, 2017 at 12:35 PM - danzca6: that's pretty cool
    Nov 16, 2017 at 12:35 PM - danzca6: don't tell the lady...put that in your pocket
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:36 PM - JoshYourITGuy: Quick sanity check, with Marlin 1.1.6, set for Mesh, the M565 for z-offset doesnt work anymore, correct? I just need to set it in the firmware, and skip sending M565 and G29's through the slicer, correct?
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:38 PM - WheresWaldo: Correct, you need to use M851 with MESH
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:38 PM - WheresWaldo: You can still send G29, it will print the status of auto-level in the terminal screen.
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:40 PM - Geof: LOL danz! you know her! She wont mind ;)
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:40 PM - JoshYourITGuy: Thank you Waldo! I gave up on UBL, could not for the life of me get it to print a test mesh correctly, height was all over the place
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:44 PM - WheresWaldo: I had similar issues on my R1, MESH was my go to. The R2 is more consistent and UBL appears to work very well.
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:46 PM - JoshYourITGuy: Got a sec to share your Starting Script? Need sanity check after starting from scratch (and not writing it down) "G21 G90 M82 M107 G28 G92 E0 G1 F{travel_speed} M117 Now Printing..."
Nov 16, 2017 at 12:50 PM - JoshYourITGuy: It is ignoring the mesh for some reason, I did the G29 S0. S1, and S2 procedures and can see the mesh, but when I go to print, it doesnt move the Z's
Nov 16, 2017 at 1:06 PM - WheresWaldo: Not sure what to tell you, was anything saved to EEPROM before you started this process? If you issue a M420 does it say MESH is active?
Nov 16, 2017 at 1:07 PM - WheresWaldo: M502 followed by M500 will reset EEPROM to firmware defaults
Nov 16, 2017 at 1:07 PM - JoshYourITGuy: I think I figured it out, I was using the LCD to modify the Z between probe points and S3D to send the G29 S2, so it wasnt registering the changes. Currently re-probing the mesh and using the S3D jog controls
Nov 16, 2017 at 1:10 PM - JoshYourITGuy: M420: Bed Leveling On Fade Height Off
Nov 16, 2017 at 1:37 PM - JoshYourITGuy: Ok, started from scratch, redid my mesh, saved it, set my Z, and still, it is not compensating during a print, I taped post-it flags to the rods and they are not budging.
Nov 16, 2017 at 1:48 PM - WheresWaldo: I don't know what is going on with this one, My R1 has been in a box for a few months now, so I can't test it myself.
Nov 16, 2017 at 1:50 PM - JoshYourITGuy: It's ok, I will gather all my info and post a topic. Maybe in the process of digging through my info I will catch a "DUH" and see my issue
Nov 16, 2017 at 6:08 PM - Captain Canardly: Hey gang! looks kike you guys know how to run these puppies!! :D I had a small goof, posted a link on my 2nd post!
    Nov 16, 2017 at 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: What's up

    Nov 17, 2017 3:39 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Nov 17, 2017 5:03 AM - jbigler1986: think i found my issue. I will post pics in like 30 minutes
    Nov 17, 2017 5:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Okay
    Nov 17, 2017 5:45 AM - jbigler1986: https://imgur.com/a/5AoYq
Nov 17, 2017 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: that's after i changed nozzle size to .5mm and sliced it. looks good and infill is nice
    Nov 17, 2017 5:47 AM - jbigler1986: https://imgur.com/a/3Fl4N
Nov 17, 2017 5:47 AM - jbigler1986: that's with .4mm see the infill on the outer shell. those layers don't adhere for some reason
Nov 17, 2017 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: changed nozzle to a .5 and printing now. Looks great so far as shown in the slicer
    Nov 17, 2017 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Nov 17, 2017 5:49 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Nov 17, 2017 5:49 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Nov 17, 2017 5:50 AM - danzca6: How new is your nozzle? Sure it is still in spec at .4? May have grown to .5...possible I guess
Nov 17, 2017 5:50 AM - WheresWaldo: S3D is not perfect and this is an area that needs to improve. Also you could have forced a extrusion width instead of setting it to Auto and that might have worked with the 0.40 nozzle.
    Nov 17, 2017 5:51 AM - danzca6: oh...so more of a slicer issue
    Nov 17, 2017 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: brand new nozzle
Nov 17, 2017 5:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Not the issue, like Danz said it is a slicer issue and one that has existed since S3D 2.x
    Nov 17, 2017 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: it's like the infill doesn't overlap the shell
Nov 17, 2017 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: you can pinch the shell and it's not solid
Nov 17, 2017 5:53 AM - WheresWaldo: There is a minimum setting for infill length when S3D doesn't think it will fit, they just don't fill.
Nov 17, 2017 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: sluts. So should i try with cura? i have it installed
Nov 17, 2017 5:55 AM - WheresWaldo: You could try adjusting the Infill tab Minimum Infill Length
Nov 17, 2017 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: i will try that and reslice it. see how it looks
Nov 17, 2017 5:55 AM - WheresWaldo: and Overlap Percentage, sometimes just an increase of 1 percent makes a difference.
Nov 17, 2017 5:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Opps Outline Overlap that should be.
Nov 17, 2017 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: nope. the only thing that is fixing it is changing extrusion width
Nov 17, 2017 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: not sure how high to adjust it with a .4 nozzle
Nov 17, 2017 6:00 AM - WheresWaldo: How high? which parameter?
    Nov 17, 2017 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Nov 17, 2017 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: that's .4mm with width set at .54
Nov 17, 2017 6:01 AM - daniel871: Look at the gap fill settings in the Advanced section, not the regular extrusion width.
Nov 17, 2017 6:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Default is 0.48 mm with a 0.4 nozzle when set to Auto, try going the other way.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:01 AM - WheresWaldo: 0.47 or 0.46 mm
Nov 17, 2017 6:03 AM - WheresWaldo: You might have to change Outline Overlap too.
Nov 17, 2017 6:03 AM - jbigler1986: .46 is better. but still has some filled in. pretty sure i changed that. will double check
Nov 17, 2017 6:03 AM - daniel871: Take it off Auto, set it at .4mm extrusion width.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:04 AM - daniel871: https://imgur.com/a/Plgfh
Nov 17, 2017 6:04 AM - WheresWaldo: 0.4 with a 0.4 nozzle is not what I would call a best practice, not enough extrusion to get "good" intralayer adhesion.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Nov 17, 2017 6:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Context for that image please?
Nov 17, 2017 6:05 AM - daniel871: What is the goal in that object?
Nov 17, 2017 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: it's just top half of the full graphics case
Nov 17, 2017 6:06 AM - daniel871: That IMGUR link I posted has the settings in the S3D advanced tab I use and the preview from an object using those settings.
Nov 17, 2017 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: not sure why it's not filling in the 2 outer shells
Nov 17, 2017 6:07 AM - WheresWaldo: I guess I am not understanding what you think is missing?
Nov 17, 2017 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: let me grab a pic from a part. or try to anyways
Nov 17, 2017 6:09 AM - daniel871: If there isn't a theoretical gap between the two outer shells, no slicer is going to attempt to fill said gap?
Nov 17, 2017 6:10 AM - WheresWaldo: I think he is talking about two perimeters on the outside of the wall and only one on the inside.
Nov 17, 2017 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: maybe the model is just fucked. ran it through netfabb. uploading now
Nov 17, 2017 6:11 AM - WheresWaldo: S3D bug been there since the beginning, but S3D as much as everyone loves it, isn't really interested in fixing bugs, just adding new features.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Nov 17, 2017 6:13 AM - WheresWaldo: Point to what we should be lookiong at, please.

Nov 17, 2017 6:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Increase overlap by a single point
    Nov 17, 2017 6:15 AM - WheresWaldo: S3D bug
    Nov 17, 2017 6:16 AM - jbigler1986: i increased it to 25 percent
    Nov 17, 2017 6:16 AM - jbigler1986: default was 15 i think
Nov 17, 2017 6:16 AM - WheresWaldo: Wow I run at like 18% just fine
    Nov 17, 2017 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: i can try 18. not gonna hurt anything
Nov 17, 2017 6:17 AM - WheresWaldo: By chance what is your Extrusion Multiplier (first tab)
    Nov 17, 2017 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: .98
Nov 17, 2017 6:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Set the overlap back down to 20 and increase multiplier to .99
Nov 17, 2017 6:18 AM - WheresWaldo: Slice and show us what S3D thinks.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Nov 17, 2017 6:21 AM - WheresWaldo: What is your Minimum Infill Lerngth set to?
Nov 17, 2017 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: let me grab my profile for you. maybe i'm missing something
    Nov 17, 2017 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: been forever since i fucked with s3d
Nov 17, 2017 6:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Is this PLA?
    Nov 17, 2017 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: yes
Nov 17, 2017 6:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Let me send you my profile, maybe it behaves differently. S3D 4.0?
Nov 17, 2017 6:23 AM - daniel871: Hang on, here is what my preview looks like using the default S3D profile for the Robo.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: no. 3.0.2
    Nov 17, 2017 6:23 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Nov 17, 2017 6:23 AM - daniel871: Using S3D 4.0
    Nov 17, 2017 6:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Ugh, I just sent you a 4.0 profile, don't have 3.x loaded.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: i sent you mine
Nov 17, 2017 6:25 AM - daniel871: If your Simplify3D install is legal, just update it and try again to see if it fixes the problem.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: it's not. lol. had this for a few years
    Nov 17, 2017 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: will see if i can find 4
Nov 17, 2017 6:25 AM - daniel871: Oh. Get legal then and get the current version?
Nov 17, 2017 6:25 AM - WheresWaldo: JB relink the Thingiverse page, it has already been archived.
Nov 17, 2017 6:28 AM - jbigler1986: messaged them to you. didn't feel like searching for it on thingiverse again
    Nov 17, 2017 6:30 AM - daniel871: This one? https://www.thingiverse.com/download:2785604
    Nov 17, 2017 6:30 AM - daniel871: Under https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1639994/#files
    Nov 17, 2017 6:31 AM - jbigler1986: no
    Nov 17, 2017 6:32 AM - jbigler1986: grabbing s3d 4
Nov 17, 2017 6:34 AM - daniel871: Just grabbed one from this search because the cover for the Full Graphics is basically the same other than the relieved labeling on the outside. https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=Robo+full+graphics&sa=&dwh=785a0ef226c4f5d
Nov 17, 2017 6:34 AM - daniel871: (other than the search results that have nothing to do with the actual thing being searched for)
    Nov 17, 2017 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: sent it to you
    Nov 17, 2017 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: ok. god 4.0 installed
    Nov 17, 2017 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: got*
Nov 17, 2017 6:39 AM - daniel871: Here's how that model case top you sent me looks in 4.0 with the standard profile (once IMGUR is done processing).
    Nov 17, 2017 6:40 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Nov 17, 2017 6:40 AM - jbigler1986: that's will all default settings?
Nov 17, 2017 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Is that bad?
Nov 17, 2017 6:41 AM - daniel871: Yep. Loaded the machine profile from the S3D pile (because I rarely use it due to not having an R1) and that's what I got.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:41 AM - daniel871: R1+ with auto-leveling in the Configuration Assistant.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:43 AM - jbigler1986: it looks fine
Nov 17, 2017 6:43 AM - daniel871: External Infill being set to Concentric is probably why it's doing that. Let me take another shot partway up the build.
Nov 17, 2017 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Pirated copies don't let you use the Configuration Assistant, just for JB's knowledge.

    Nov 17, 2017 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: 3.0.2 did
Nov 17, 2017 6:44 AM - WheresWaldo: Are you using the one with .dll replacement?
Nov 17, 2017 6:44 AM - daniel871: Nope, still looks good about 2/3 up the sides.
Nov 17, 2017 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: not a big deal though. just need to change the start and end gcode
    Nov 17, 2017 6:44 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Nov 17, 2017 6:45 AM - daniel871: 2 perimeters inside and out, then the filler.
Nov 17, 2017 6:45 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, that one looks pretty good to me.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:45 AM - daniel871: Looks like they did a silent bugfix?
    Nov 17, 2017 6:45 AM - daniel871: Or maybe pirated 3.0.x had a bug vs. pirated 4.0?
Nov 17, 2017 6:46 AM - daniel871: I assume on the pirated, my screenshots are from the legal version of 4.0
Nov 17, 2017 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Well, I don't endorse using pirated versions. So who knows exactly what is going on there.
Nov 17, 2017 6:46 AM - daniel871: Would be an odd thing to deliberately code into pirated software detection, but not unheard of.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: s3d should be like $99
Nov 17, 2017 6:47 AM - daniel871: Kind of like games that spawn invincible enemies when piracy is detected, etc.
Nov 17, 2017 6:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Not sure S3D is that sophisticated
    Nov 17, 2017 6:47 AM - jbigler1986: $150 is to much. Under 100 i would buy it right away
Nov 17, 2017 6:47 AM - daniel871: Eh. I figure if you've been using it happily for "a few years" you should pony up because you've gotten well worth the money out of it.
Nov 17, 2017 6:48 AM - daniel871: It's not like the S3D team are Microsoft and making huge amounts of money for a non-subscription service piece of software.
Nov 17, 2017 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: should. but haven't used it in like a year. To much going on for my kids to use
Nov 17, 2017 6:49 AM - WheresWaldo: From my research the Pirated version only diabled the Account check and not any functionality, but If you get significant value out of it, it would be better to support them. Even if the price is too high (I agree $99 would be much better).
Nov 17, 2017 6:50 AM - daniel871: The thing to do is keep an eye on 3d printer manufacturers that bundle a license with their machine and get said machine whenever it's on a ridiculous sale.
Nov 17, 2017 6:50 AM - daniel871: Then at least you get another machine to play with the software.
    Nov 17, 2017 6:50 AM - WheresWaldo: That is a good idea.
Nov 17, 2017 6:51 AM - daniel871: Only downside to that is that the machines that bundle S3D are usually a *lot* more expensive than the ones at the Robo price point.
Nov 17, 2017 6:51 AM - daniel871: Except that Mini Delta that I'm fucking around with that Monoprice sold that is plagued with early-adopter bugs.
Nov 17, 2017 6:52 AM - daniel871: Had a screaming deal where a $150 delta was sold with a Simplify3D license that only marked the sale price up to $250 (so right around $99 for the license).
Nov 17, 2017 6:52 AM - jbigler1986: don't 3d print enough anymore. cnc router is what i spend 90 percent of my time on
Nov 17, 2017 6:52 AM - daniel871: Home built router or name brand?
Nov 17, 2017 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: started as a cnc 6040. increased the size of it though
    Nov 17, 2017 6:55 AM - jbigler1986: i name it my frankenCNC
Nov 17, 2017 6:56 AM - daniel871: I've got one of those, in a similar rebuilding process. I like the framework of it but having a CNC with no limit switches of any kind was nuts when I first went over it after getting it.
Nov 17, 2017 6:57 AM - jbigler1986: not really. I have had 0 issues with no limit switches and have used it almost daily for 2 years
Nov 17, 2017 6:58 AM - jbigler1986: it's built like a damn tank. Think is heavy as fuck
Nov 17, 2017 7:01 AM - jbigler1986: the software i use for that was expensive
Nov 17, 2017 7:05 AM - JoshYourITGuy: I am about to throw this frickin printer out the door... stupid Mesh still wont work
Nov 17, 2017 7:06 AM - jbigler1986: hey at least you have the mesh. Should have been here before that. Autolevel was a joke
    Nov 17, 2017 7:07 AM - daniel871: It is the R1, Josh?
    Nov 17, 2017 7:07 AM - daniel871: And yeah, LOL @Autolevel.
Nov 17, 2017 7:07 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Yes, R1 (not +), some mods, been trying to get 1.1.6 to work
Nov 17, 2017 7:07 AM - daniel871: My favorite part was when switches would fault Closed and the probe action would just break the bed.
Nov 17, 2017 7:08 AM - daniel871: Back when the beds were thin enough that the weight of the entire X-axis was enough to break it if the switches didn't trigger.
Nov 17, 2017 7:09 AM - daniel871: (Or the hilarious failure of the nuts grinding down at the Z-axis motors until the rods stripped if you weren't paying attention/fast enough to power it off before that happened--back when they were threaded rod instead of leadscrews)
Nov 17, 2017 7:09 AM - JoshYourITGuy: lol, yeah, been there before
    Nov 17, 2017 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: I upgraded to leadscrews very soon after I got tbe5
    Nov 17, 2017 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: The robo thankfully
Nov 17, 2017 7:13 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Ok, fresh firmware copy, set to MESH, uploaded, M502, M500, M501. 501 shows MESH enabled, and all points at 0.
    Nov 17, 2017 7:13 AM - JoshYourITGuy: M420 shows bed leveling OFF
    Nov 17, 2017 7:13 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Starting G29 now
    Nov 17, 2017 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: Do you have an lcd?
    Nov 17, 2017 7:13 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Yes
Nov 17, 2017 7:14 AM - JoshYourITGuy: G29 S0 shows no data (good, as it is fresh copy of FW) and jbigler, I also have LCD_BED_LEVELING enabled in FW
Nov 17, 2017 7:21 AM - JoshYourITGuy: using the LCD to run through it ends up in a loop
    Nov 17, 2017 7:24 AM - daniel871: I wish I could embed gifv files. https://i.imgur.com/HyxvZCP.gifv
Nov 17, 2017 7:26 AM - daniel871: Also, Boston Dynamics needs to stop aiding our Future Robot Overlords https://i.imgur.com/B6Bkt0g.gifv
Nov 17, 2017 7:30 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Ok, did G29 S1 to start it, ran throgh the G29 S2's did M500 to save, now G29 S0 shows the varying heights, and M420 shows Bed Leveling On, is there anything else I need to do to make sure that gets saved to survice a reboot and anythign I need to do to make sure it actually works when I print?
Nov 17, 2017 7:33 AM - daniel871: Just power cycle and run the checks to make sure it's active before running a print.
Nov 17, 2017 7:34 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Grrr, powercycled, M501 still shows my datapoints from the G29, but M420 shows Bed Leveling Off...
    Nov 17, 2017 7:35 AM - WheresWaldo: M420 S1 will turn it back on.
Nov 17, 2017 7:36 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Do I need to send that M420 S1 every time? (should I add it to my startup script?)
Nov 17, 2017 7:37 AM - WheresWaldo: No M500 should save the state.
    Nov 17, 2017 7:37 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Ok
    Nov 17, 2017 7:38 AM - JoshYourITGuy: nope :( powercycled after sending M420 S1 and M500, and M420 shows OFF again
Nov 17, 2017 7:42 AM - daniel871: M240 S1 in the starting script is a pretty easy fix if power cycling keeps turning it off.
Nov 17, 2017 7:43 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Where should I put it? this is my current:
Nov 17, 2017 7:43 AM - JoshYourITGuy: G21 ;metric values G90 ;absolute positioning M82 ;set extruder to absolute mode M107 ;start with the fan off G28 ;X0 Y0 ;move X/Y to min endstops G92 E0 ;zero the extruded length again G1 F{travel_speed} M117 Now Printing...
Nov 17, 2017 7:43 AM - JoshYourITGuy: ouch, the lack of formatting makes my eyes bleed
Nov 17, 2017 7:44 AM - WheresWaldo: If you just do a G29 by itselfd, does it show MESH enabled?
    Nov 17, 2017 7:45 AM - WheresWaldo: http://marlinfw.org/docs/gcode/G029-mbl.html
Nov 17, 2017 7:46 AM - WheresWaldo: This is current.
    Nov 17, 2017 7:46 AM - JoshYourITGuy: [IMG]
Nov 17, 2017 7:46 AM - daniel871: I would put it at the very beginning if it turns out it's required.

Nov 17, 2017 7:46 AM - JoshYourITGuy: dammit, someone remind me how to post an imgur again please?

Nov 17, 2017 7:49 AM - WheresWaldo: The rear one has to have a / infomr of img
Nov 17, 2017 7:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Select you image from your gallery in imgur, then on the right there should be a list of links, copy the one that is listed for BBCode.
    Nov 17, 2017 7:51 AM - WheresWaldo: [IMG]
    Nov 17, 2017 7:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Easy peasy.
Nov 17, 2017 7:54 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Ohhh, I have to actally log in to imgur...

Nov 17, 2017 7:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Is that your start up script, if so why are you just homing X and Y and not Z?
Nov 17, 2017 7:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Change that G28 to just a plain old G28 with no parameters.
Nov 17, 2017 7:56 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Yes, that is my startup, ok, will try
Nov 17, 2017 7:57 AM - daniel871: It looks like the X/Y0 is commented out anyway on that line.
Nov 17, 2017 7:58 AM - JoshYourITGuy: yeah, it was still homing Z, that was an old comment apparently
Nov 17, 2017 7:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey daniel871 Monoprice is going to put the delta on sale for $160 on BF don't know if it qualifies for free shipping too. Some sort of pre-release deal, saw Official release is April 2018.
    Nov 17, 2017 8:05 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Ok, I think I got it: [IMG]
Nov 17, 2017 8:05 AM - JoshYourITGuy: It keeps turning bed leveling off after a print, and adding the M420 S1 before the G28 wouldnt work
Nov 17, 2017 8:06 AM - JoshYourITGuy: Now, M420 S1 AFTER the G28 kicks it back on and I can see the Z's moving, trying a test print now
Nov 17, 2017 8:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Not sure why it isn't saving the state with M500, that should have worked all by itself.
Nov 17, 2017 8:07 AM - JoshYourITGuy: That is what was bugging me too, I religiously use M500.
Nov 17, 2017 8:08 AM - JoshYourITGuy: I tested to make sure it wasnt a bad board (zapped the last one with static) by setting PID through gcode and sending the M500 and it remembers that, so not sure why mesh keeps reverting, at least it remembers the mesh itself!
Nov 17, 2017 8:08 AM - WheresWaldo: So do I. That is why I am surprised to hear it not working.
