Feb 20, 2018 7:37 AM - daniel871: Anybody in LA want an R1 for $200? https://www.ebay.com/itm/ROBO-3D-R1-Printer/202196597564?hash=item2f13db3b3c:g:HzIAAOSw5nxaY7d4
Feb 20, 2018 8:19 AM - Geof: heck of a deal. Bet it could be had for 100
Feb 22, 2018 9:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey Mark, I am going to do some timings on how long after a print fisinhes that the OctoPrint scripts run. I think there is a bug in RoboLCD that makes it pause when you cancel or when it finishes. It holds on too long before allowing OctoPrint to take back control.
Feb 22, 2018 9:50 AM - mark tomlinson: Good information to discover.
Feb 22, 2018 9:56 AM - WheresWaldo: So far from LCD it is 5.2 seconds between the yes press and script running. Now reprinting and will cancel direct from OctoPrint.
Feb 22, 2018 10:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Direct from OctoPrint cancelling returns control to its script in less than 2 seconds. So the issue is with the LCD.
Feb 22, 2018 11:21 AM - WheresWaldo: I am trying to figure out how Canceling works. SO far what I have determined is that all canceling does is stop new commands from going to the command buffer. There is no G-Code to cancel. M112 is Emergency Stop which will reset the entire board and disconnect communications.
Feb 23, 2018 6:06 AM - Geof: pssst...guys! https://e3d-online.com/blog/2018/02/23/threaded-heatsinks/
Feb 23, 2018 6:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, that requires different mounts to use on any of the Robo Printers, buit I love the idea. They would also need to redesign the Titan Extruder.
Feb 23, 2018 6:11 AM - daniel871: I like the general idea. Just print a single-piece mount with a thru hole and tighten the thing up.
Feb 23, 2018 6:12 AM - WheresWaldo: I think the point is to get away from printed. I would take an aluminum sheet, drill a hole and then use it that way, kind of like a large fenter washer. Or, maybe even just use a fender washer.
Feb 23, 2018 6:15 AM - WheresWaldo: They specify that it is M12 threaded, so a 13 mm or 17/32" hole should be perfect.
Feb 23, 2018 6:16 AM - Geof: Waldo I'm with you on that. Threaded alum plate. I agree to much hassle for a Robo but also takes the slop out of the R1 style "latch"
Feb 23, 2018 6:16 AM - Geof: or potential slop
Feb 23, 2018 6:16 AM - Geof: really neat idea and a standard would be...nothing short of amazing.
Feb 23, 2018 6:19 AM - daniel871: I wouldn't thread the plate. Use an o-ring in the o-ring groove and tighten a nut on the other side.
Feb 23, 2018 6:19 AM - Geof: I suppose you could more so looking for fast change. I'd thread that plate 2 mins no dissassembly just spin her out
Feb 23, 2018 6:20 AM - WheresWaldo: I have no opinion either way.
Feb 23, 2018 6:20 AM - daniel871: Good way to tangle wires if you don't disassemble the heater block from the heatsink.
Feb 23, 2018 6:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Now Daniel has a good point, I am leaning to no threads now.
Feb 23, 2018 6:22 AM - daniel871: For printers that just run straight wires from the hotend to the control board with no disconnects near the hotend.
Feb 23, 2018 6:22 AM - daniel871: If you have disconnects at the hotend it doesn't matter.
Feb 23, 2018 6:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Honestly why would a person use a hotend with no disconnects? Cheap printers that wire directly usually have cheap hotends not E3D's
Feb 23, 2018 6:24 AM - WheresWaldo: So if you replace the hotend, even on a cheap printer to an E3D then use connectors.
Feb 23, 2018 6:55 AM - Geof: agreed. I prefer disconnects on my V6 machines so I can swap the hotend around without worry but solid point on not everybody does things like me (or Waldo)
Feb 23, 2018 6:55 AM - Geof: (or Dan lol)
Feb 23, 2018 6:56 AM - Geof: neat idea still like the thought of bolting the hotend in place mechanically vs a "push fit" style set up. Not sure in reality you gain anything other than warm cozy feeling.
Feb 23, 2018 6:56 AM - Geof: I sure wouldn't go through the effort of changing every mount for every V6 I have. That would take...months. lol.
Feb 26, 2018 8:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, how was your weekend?
Feb 26, 2018 8:23 AM - Geof: hey Waldo, took the weekend off! was awesome! Zero printing. just relaxing lol.
Feb 26, 2018 8:23 AM - Geof: how was yours
Feb 26, 2018 8:44 AM - WheresWaldo: Not bad, rode my bicycle a bit, was 80° here Friday and Saturday. Started raining yesterday afternoon.
Feb 26, 2018 8:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Worked on Marlin for a few minutes, got Bugfix-1.1.x configured for the R2. Didn't flash it since I really don't see anything that would benefit our printers.
Feb 26, 2018 8:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Howdy, Mark.
Feb 26, 2018 8:54 AM - Geof: 80 would be nice, dont think it got quite that warm here but am glad the week worth of rain and ice finally stopped lol.
Feb 26, 2018 8:55 AM - Geof: I played a little bit with the IOS app on my Ipad since I finally got it to update.
Feb 26, 2018 8:56 AM - Geof: (IOS app for our r2/c2
Feb 26, 2018 9:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Since I couldn't get to the Android page on day one I never tried again. I can't go hunting for stuff they want tested.
Feb 26, 2018 9:12 AM - WheresWaldo: It is funny that they didn't rotate the image on the Android app like they did on the OctoPrint theme. It makes it kind of hard to see.
Feb 26, 2018 9:32 AM - Geof: I havent gotten the new link for the android yet so cant try it. soon maybe

Feb 26, 2018 12:48 PM - WheresWaldo: My wife thought it was hilarious. Dan that is one of the few things you post in shoutbox I can share with her.
Feb 26, 2018 1:31 PM - Grandpa: Where can I purchase the polyfuses used in my ramps?
Feb 26, 2018 1:32 PM - WheresWaldo: Probably Newark, Digikey or Mouser.

Feb 28, 2018 at 4:59 AM - JeffTheMess: morning robonauts, finally got a 40 W heater, do i need to change any settings?
Feb 28, 2018 at 5:07 AM - mark tomlinson: No. Just install it and go.
Feb 28, 2018 at 5:10 AM - JeffTheMess: sweet
Feb 28, 2018 at 5:10 AM - JeffTheMess: has anybody used these https://printrbot.com/shop/gear-head-extruder-gear-set/ I want to use them for the r1
Feb 28, 2018 at 5:56 AM - Geof: nope. Dont use really anything printrbot.
Feb 28, 2018 at 5:56 AM - Geof: have a play and a few other bits but meh
Feb 28, 2018 at 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: cool
Feb 28, 2018 at 6:26 AM - JeffTheMess: I want a bondtech without the bondtech price
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:06 AM - Geof: not sure what a bondtech costs but I use quite a few titans and am quite pleased with them.
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:09 AM - JeffTheMess: titan is not dual gear right
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey Geof, anything going on today.
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:14 AM - Geof: No not dual gear (IMO and experience not a needed thing)
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:14 AM - Geof: hey Waldo, not much. Running some flexible for a custom electrical box gasket
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:33 AM - WheresWaldo: I am busy cleaning up a mess from a broken hot water heater. Should be replaced by Friday. So no hot water until then.
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:37 AM - Geof: man thats the worst. Big mess?
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:40 AM - JeffTheMess: shyt that sucks
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:45 AM - WheresWaldo: No we caught it within hours of the leak. So we shut off the water to the tank and the gas to the pilot then opend every hot water faucet in the house, so even though the tank is full, it is not under pressure anymore. Plumber will drain it, remove it and replace it.
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:46 AM - WheresWaldo: So now I have a sample of some Glow in the dark filament and I am trying to figure out what I should print with it.
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah ive seen people not release pressure and had a "fun" time
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:48 AM - Geof: Good call on the heater. Man that sucks. Glow stuff ... the last thing glow in the dark was some ghost thing the lady wanted.
Feb 28, 2018 at 7:48 AM - Geof: (destiny ghost) but it was just the eye pieces lol
Feb 28, 2018 at 8:10 AM - WheresWaldo: I also have a spool of Woodfill I got cheap just before the holidays (under $20). haven't even opened it yet, because I just don't know what to print with it.
Feb 28, 2018 at 8:45 AM - Geof: I use alot of woodfill but ita for scaled down salesman samples for an outdoor garden company lol
Feb 28, 2018 at 8:56 AM - Geof: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1908678
Feb 28, 2018 at 8:56 AM - Geof: I scaled one of these up for my mother (she asked for it) was a good use of some woodfill for a desk sitter
Feb 28, 2018 at 11:48 AM - jim3Dbot: Just seen this on 'Printed Solid' site comments.Child: Dad, where do babies come from? Dadpretends he didn't hear) Child: Are they made on 3D Printers? Dad: (relieved) Yes! You'll learn about how to load the filament when you are much older.
Feb 28, 2018 at 11:54 AM - Geof: lol oh boy..........
Mar 2, 2018 at 8:45 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, how's it going?
Mar 2, 2018 at 8:52 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo, not bad. Ready for the weekend.
Mar 2, 2018 at 9:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Just got our new water heater installed, now to clean up the mess. It's not too bad, if you ever have a house built do not let the plumber put the hot water heater in the attic.
Mar 2, 2018 at 9:45 AM - Geof: not at all. Them babies go in basements, preferably by a drain lol.

Apr 3, 2018 9:07 AM - WheresWaldo: The Monoprice 32" 4K IPS monitor is a good one at a good price. Anything smaller than 32 means a lot of scaling to make it readable. 40-43 is a better choice for 4K at 100% scaling.
