Apr 12, 2018 at 5:29 AM - daniel871: I've been busy working. The Monoprice folks got tired of seeing me bitch about the delta and send me the Select Mini v2 & I've been printing pretty much non-stop to see if it'll fail/tear up.
Apr 12, 2018 at 5:30 AM - daniel871: It's apparently had a bunch of stealth-upgrades too, there's a new extruder body that fully supports the filament path to the bowden tube (vs. the older version that had a gap), the bed liner isn't a buildtak-like any more, etc.
Apr 12, 2018 at 5:32 AM - daniel871: The build surface looks like a sheet of anti-slip/sandpaper-like surface that visually looks like powder-coat. Much more resistant to tearing up by scraping under the print with a razor blade.
Apr 12, 2018 at 5:33 AM - daniel871: (I still managed to scrap up a section of it, though)
Apr 12, 2018 at 5:34 AM - daniel871: Got some PrintinZ Zebra skins on the way to replace it with and have on hand for spares (the guy at PrintinZ sold me his entire stock for $20 because nobody was buying them and he took them off the website and was looking to get rid of them).
    Apr 12, 2018 at 5:37 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Apr 12, 2018 at 5:37 AM - daniel871: Don't know if you can see the build plate surface clearly there, but it's super-thin/was super tough until I did the peel up you can see there.
Apr 12, 2018 at 5:38 AM - daniel871: Still works fine if I flatten it down at the start of a print and it gets covered by the initial passes, but I don't like doing that.
Apr 12, 2018 at 7:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I dulled the edges of all my scrappers just to help reduce my chances of doing that.
Apr 12, 2018 at 8:45 AM - daniel871: It'd be hilarious if the stock bed covering was this stuff: https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-4-in-x-15-ft-Safety-Walk-Step-and-Ladder-Tread-Tape-7636NA/100211722

Apr 15, 2018 5:30 PM - albert3d: try switching the driver for Y for the one for X. Does the problem go to Y?

Apr 16, 2018 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes, but it is Spring in the US so a lot of people actually go outside and do things.
Apr 16, 2018 7:01 AM - JeffTheMess: yes, the weather finally getting better in North Carolina
Apr 16, 2018 7:07 AM - mark tomlinson: Someone got caught registering by the spam detector -- " StopForumSpam matched (email: 1, ip: 4510)" I wonder if that really is a spammer ;) Might be a false positive.

Apr 18, 2018 6:24 AM - daniel871: First TPU print on the MPSMv2, so far, so good: [IMG]
Apr 18, 2018 11:02 AM - Geof: is that new?
    Apr 18, 2018 1:25 PM - daniel871: New-ish. I thought I mentioned getting it earlier.
    Apr 18, 2018 1:25 PM - daniel871: Yep, last Thursday I talked about it.
    Apr 18, 2018 1:25 PM - daniel871: Still in the Shoutbox cache.
Apr 18, 2018 1:26 PM - daniel871: I'm trying to think of what to print off of Thingiverse in TPU now that the bracelet thing successfully printed without issues.
Apr 18, 2018 1:26 PM - daniel871: (other than some mild under extrusion that didn't kill the part)

Apr 19, 2018 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: That little monospace printer is doing a great job for you.
Apr 19, 2018 7:02 AM - daniel871: Some of the folks on another group are upset that a Bowden setup is doing that well with TPU.
Apr 19, 2018 7:53 AM - toymaker: how many printers do u have now daniel?
Apr 19, 2018 8:04 AM - Geof: looks pretty good daniel! Will have to reconsider that one for schools and the such.
Apr 19, 2018 8:14 AM - daniel871: I consolidated (read: butchered for parts) the machines I haven't been using and basically just have the two Monoprice printers that I actively use.
Apr 19, 2018 8:14 AM - daniel871: The regular i3-size at home and this mini on my desk at work.
Apr 19, 2018 8:16 AM - daniel871: I've got the mini + Octo/Raspberry Pi3 on a static IP address on the LAN here. I'll bring a webcam at some point and set it up once I figure out the best place to have it aimed at the printer, then start doing Timelapses with the new OctoLapse plugin.
Apr 19, 2018 8:16 AM - toymaker: nice , i still got 2 x rostocks, 2 x robos r1 , 1 printer i built myself and some novio printer someone gave me to try and never picked up again lol
Apr 19, 2018 8:17 AM - toymaker: btw the rostocks are great
Apr 19, 2018 8:18 AM - daniel871: Anybody else see that hilariously optimistic Ultimaker model they are pricing at almost $7k?
Apr 19, 2018 8:18 AM - daniel871: The one that offers nothing feature-wise over the current UM3 other than being bigger?
Apr 19, 2018 8:19 AM - toymaker: this is my next purchase... https://www.tormach.com/product_pcnc_main.html
Apr 19, 2018 9:07 AM - Geof: yea I saw that daniel. No thanks lol. dual extrusion UM way that big would be months long.
Apr 19, 2018 9:07 AM - Geof: UM run insanely slow as it is.

Apr 20, 2018 9:55 PM - Nickbrown17: anyone on that can help with a stepper motor question?
    Apr 20, 2018 10:05 PM - Nickbrown17: never mind, solved it
Apr 21, 2018 7:16 PM - ash_pala: Hey everyone, I've been using my R1 for about 2 months now and it's been working smoothly, until last week. I turned it on and went into MatterControl and heated up all the temperatures of the extruder, as I move the X axis of the extruder through the program it makes a grinding noise. The Z and Y axis are fine and then when the printer starts to calibrate the grinding noise happens again. How do I fix it?

Apr 27, 2018 6:01 AM - mark tomlinson: Some of the spammers are non-obvious in that they don't actually post any messages, but they include spam links in their public profile. I have to check those out as well.

    May 7, 2018 5:37 AM - JeffTheMess: morning robonauts
May 7, 2018 8:16 AM - Geof: Hey Jeff. Think I missed you, but good morning!
May 7, 2018 9:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey geof, how are you today?
May 7, 2018 9:02 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo, doing good.
May 7, 2018 9:02 AM - Geof: how you doin?
May 7, 2018 9:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Not bad, trying to wrap up a couple of models requests.
May 7, 2018 9:03 AM - Geof: No shortage of requests on this end either. I dont know what it is but everything people want this year is HUGE lol.
May 7, 2018 9:04 AM - Geof: like the size of the actual R1 and bigger lol.
May 7, 2018 9:04 AM - WheresWaldo: So I am thinking about another upgradew for the R2, Replace the Titan with a Bondtech
May 7, 2018 9:05 AM - WheresWaldo: The requests I am getting are for smaller and smaller parts
May 7, 2018 9:05 AM - Geof: The bondtech? Like the dual drive ones?
May 7, 2018 9:06 AM - Geof: smaller parts ! I'd love that lol. I have to pick up a few more large formats if all these bids go through. They are that big lol. Some can still have parts printed on the "normal" machines, but ugh.
May 7, 2018 9:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep, not really necessary but it is cool to have options.
May 7, 2018 9:07 AM - Geof: it is! Everyone raves about bondtechs. I havent tried. Titans always been fine...but now that the bondtechs are the dual drive they have me intrigued.
May 7, 2018 9:07 AM - Geof: seems you could really cram some filament through
May 7, 2018 9:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah and it is geared the same as the Titan so likely no need to modify the firmware. Maybe I can even go faster or way big on the nozzle, I already use a 0.60 mm.
May 7, 2018 9:11 AM - Geof: That would be slick.
May 7, 2018 9:11 AM - Geof: Bigger for the win!
May 7, 2018 9:12 AM - WheresWaldo: The 0.60 nozzle is a great match for the R2, but I do want to try 0.80 or 1.0 nozzles just to see what it will do.
May 7, 2018 9:13 AM - Geof: I typically run .8 on the UM. I've left the R2 alone. Will have to change that soon I think. Its just got such a wierd print volume lol.
May 7, 2018 9:13 AM - Geof: wish it was at least 210 in x and y honestly.
May 7, 2018 9:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, Robo seems to always be the odd sized printer. I am not sure why7 they are consistently odd sized.
May 7, 2018 9:33 AM - Geof: Havent quite figured that one out yet either. I mean its great the extra Z is in there because why not right, but man...need more X and Y. Would love to do sequential printing with it for a few jobs but it never makes it worth it as I run out of bed.

May 8, 2018 7:39 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo how goes it
May 8, 2018 7:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Not bad, playing with a new toy this morning
May 8, 2018 7:41 AM - Geof: new toy! Go on!
May 8, 2018 7:45 AM - WheresWaldo: Nothing fancy, went to Harbor Freight and picked up a Vibratory Tumbler, I had some glass beads and some fine walnut shells, going to try them out on some printed parts.
May 8, 2018 7:47 AM - Geof: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use walnut and brass media (small screws)
May 8, 2018 7:48 AM - Geof: I've recently removed the walnut and get the same look without the gunky walnuts lol
May 8, 2018 7:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I am using some stuff that I used to use for blasting. I had a Titanium bicycle frame that was polished and used the glass beads to beadblast the finish. It turned out really well but had small glass beads all over the place. Figured I would use that up first.
May 8, 2018 7:54 AM - Geof: let me know how that goes! make sure to send pictures !
May 8, 2018 7:54 AM - Geof: Super interested in how that works. Bead blast material is cheap!
May 8, 2018 7:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah I bought a 50# box real cheap about 5 years ago, still finding more uses for them, works great as an epoxy filler.
May 8, 2018 8:02 AM - Geof: I hadn't thought of that! Good use for it too. Sometimes you just win ya know lol.
