Apr 22, 2015 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: much smaller than it used to be.. yet the air force is growing
    Apr 22, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: so is the navy
    Apr 22, 2015 6:26 AM - JeffTheMess: I smell a conspiracy coming on

Apr 22, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: the navy is getting more ships but they use much smaller crews and a lot of stuff is slated for disposal
Apr 22, 2015 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: it's growing. just not as rapidly as the air force
Apr 22, 2015 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: where as the army is doing the opposite and booting everyone out

Apr 22, 2015 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: he's getting a pretty sweet deal for seperation and he'll do fine as a civie but he really wanted to reup
Apr 22, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: nomrally I'm pretty old school about things that work well but that system was awesome...
Apr 22, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: yeah they are getting decent deals for seperation but most of the long term guys that have been in that long want to retire there
Apr 22, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: and I'm realy fussy about automation
Apr 22, 2015 6:31 AM - jbigler1986: also a lot of the people that have been in for a long time don't know how to handle being in garrison all of the time
Apr 22, 2015 6:31 AM - jbigler1986: which is all that most brigades are doing now
Apr 22, 2015 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: well that's the thing.. korea is changing from garrison to deployment
Apr 22, 2015 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: 2017 may change everything though
Apr 22, 2015 6:33 AM - jbigler1986: when this shit hole of a president is gone yes
Apr 22, 2015 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: need to remove the obamacare fiasco as well
Apr 22, 2015 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: exactly! bingo.. jb's got it
Apr 22, 2015 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: <-- stands up while the national anthem plays...
    Apr 22, 2015 6:35 AM - JeffTheMess: Obamacare...shame
Apr 22, 2015 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: i may just move out of country if Hilary gets it or the other black guy gets it
    Apr 22, 2015 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: I'm not racist or anything . just saying
Apr 22, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: I don't want someone that talks about very sensitive issues on personal email accounts
Apr 22, 2015 6:37 AM - Bill Monroe: i really dont think she has a chance
    Apr 22, 2015 6:37 AM - JeffTheMess: its a generation of softies
Apr 22, 2015 6:37 AM - Bill Monroe: obama is the best thing that ever happened to the GOP, changed so many libs away
    Apr 22, 2015 6:38 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm betting she'll withdraw by March
Apr 22, 2015 6:38 AM - Bill Monroe: once things really kick in and all her past shit starts to gel
Apr 22, 2015 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: hey lets talk about this super secrect seal team 6 mission on gmail. wonderful fucking idea. NOT!

    Apr 22, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    Apr 22, 2015 6:41 AM - jbigler1986: i don't want another Bush in office either
Apr 22, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: among other things, a good president needs to have a firm grip and understanding on foreign relations
    Apr 22, 2015 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: Bill Clinton? :D
    Apr 22, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: she's already show she's unqualified
Apr 22, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: so far, none of the delared candidates have *any*
    Apr 22, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: declared
Apr 22, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: it's going to be interesting
Apr 22, 2015 6:43 AM - jbigler1986: Can we just get Mr Clinton back. He can have as many women suck him off as he wants. IDC
Apr 22, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: screw that, he drove up taxes so bad
Apr 22, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: and didnt spend anything on the country
Apr 22, 2015 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: He saved it for himself. Duh. Hookers get pricey
    Apr 22, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: hmmm I never considered that :)
Apr 22, 2015 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: i wonder if a NEMA 14 can drive an extruder?
Apr 22, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: get more filament and bearings today. yay
Apr 22, 2015 6:46 AM - JeffTheMess: ahh good to know we can mix hookers and politics and be happy :)
    Apr 22, 2015 6:47 AM - jbigler1986: nema 14 gets hot
Apr 22, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: that's been going on since Kennedy
Apr 22, 2015 6:47 AM - jbigler1986: had a nema 14 on the Up Mini. Would get so hot it would soften the filament
    Apr 22, 2015 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: that's your only nema 14 expereince?
    Apr 22, 2015 6:49 AM - jbigler1986: yep
Apr 22, 2015 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: it was directly feeding the filament though
Apr 22, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: i use a lot of 14s they dont get hot
    Apr 22, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: i think I'll try one
Apr 22, 2015 6:51 AM - jbigler1986: all the ones on the up mini do. people had to add fans to it
    Apr 22, 2015 6:51 AM - jbigler1986: people were swapping it with nema 17's
    Apr 22, 2015 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: .4 tips
    Apr 22, 2015 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: ?
    Apr 22, 2015 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: to be honest with you i don't remember. i think so
Apr 22, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: must be some issue with it, if no one is doing it I guess
Apr 22, 2015 6:56 AM - jbigler1986: i couldn't print PLA with it because to much heat would transfer from the stepper to the filament
Apr 22, 2015 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: any idea what the ratio was fo the drive?
    Apr 22, 2015 6:58 AM - jbigler1986: not sure. can't find that info either
    Apr 22, 2015 6:59 AM - Bill Monroe: k
Apr 22, 2015 6:59 AM - jbigler1986: their forums suck and are very inactive. one of the reasons i went with the robo
    Apr 22, 2015 7:01 AM - jbigler1986: only had 2 temps though. 210 for PLA and 260 for ABS
Apr 22, 2015 7:02 AM - jbigler1986: had to buy a resistor set to be able to make 5 degree changes
Apr 22, 2015 7:02 AM - Bill Monroe: perhaps the weak design is a clue that the extruder may also be bad by design...
Apr 22, 2015 7:04 AM - jbigler1986: possible. it was a clever one plug and held by magnet design. easy to remove
Apr 22, 2015 7:04 AM - jbigler1986: when it did print parts the quality is awesome
Apr 22, 2015 7:04 AM - jbigler1986: to small and to many issues overall though
    Apr 22, 2015 7:07 AM - jbigler1986: plus it's closed source. boooooooo
Apr 22, 2015 7:18 AM - JeffTheMess: so what are we doing today folks?
Apr 22, 2015 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: working. not printing anything becuase i didn't have time to put my hotend back together
    Apr 22, 2015 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: u?
Apr 22, 2015 7:21 AM - JeffTheMess: working getting excited to get home inlaws are leaving....why you took apart your hotend
    Apr 22, 2015 7:21 AM - jbigler1986: had a clog/jam overnight
Apr 22, 2015 7:21 AM - jbigler1986: did you see the pic of what was in it
Apr 22, 2015 7:22 AM - JeffTheMess: oh way I forgot damn mind of mine
Apr 22, 2015 7:28 AM - jbigler1986: i wish i had a way to quick release the hotend. Removing those screws is annoying
    Apr 22, 2015 7:29 AM - JeffTheMess: neo mags
    Apr 22, 2015 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: possible
Apr 22, 2015 7:30 AM - JeffTheMess: atleast you can have it snap together nicely the size that the bed neo mags
Apr 22, 2015 7:30 AM - Les Hall: hey folks
Apr 22, 2015 7:30 AM - Les Hall: good morning!

Apr 22, 2015 7:50 AM - JeffTheMess: no need to deal with multi extruders
Apr 22, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: you just import your gcode in their software then send to printer sd. simple
Apr 22, 2015 7:51 AM - Bill Monroe: I think kickstarting is just a filter for the PT Barnum effect
Apr 22, 2015 7:52 AM - JeffTheMess: any idea what the retail price may be?
    Apr 22, 2015 7:52 AM - Bill Monroe: 799 for a kickstarted one

Apr 22, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ya mike.. get the going
Apr 22, 2015 7:55 AM - Stephen Capistron: its a neat idea in concept, but I can't see the temperature of the extruder changing fast enough to handle the different filaments
Apr 22, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, and I really am skeptical of it changing colors where you want it
Apr 22, 2015 7:55 AM - Stephen Capistron: so you are practically limited to a single material type
    Apr 22, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: yep
Apr 22, 2015 7:56 AM - Mike Glass: Jeff - $59-99 for hotend then $15 for another stepper motor, then you can print the rest of the parts, you will need a new hob bolt and some bearings also.
Apr 22, 2015 7:59 AM - JeffTheMess: doesn't seem to be worth it then right?
Apr 22, 2015 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: Mike that is the idea i was thinking. just build it into the current dual fan holder
Apr 22, 2015 8:00 AM - Bill Monroe: these guys are on the right track:
Apr 22, 2015 8:01 AM - Bill Monroe: if the added head maintenance to the idle head.. they'd be there
Apr 22, 2015 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: and make the table lift, instead of the heads
Apr 22, 2015 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: and lose that syncro cable!! they're dont last
    Apr 22, 2015 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: they
Apr 22, 2015 8:04 AM - JeffTheMess: thats very interesting to see Bill those dual extruders
Apr 22, 2015 8:04 AM - jbigler1986: print times would take a long time if it need to swap back and forth a lot
Apr 22, 2015 8:04 AM - Bill Monroe: longer yes, but not enough to get excited
Apr 22, 2015 8:05 AM - JeffTheMess: time is irrelevant when you want good prints
Apr 22, 2015 8:05 AM - Bill Monroe: but think about it.. right before it comes on, squirt out a little, a motorized brush to clean the nozzle before it hit the playing field..
Apr 22, 2015 8:05 AM - Bill Monroe: agreed jeff
Apr 22, 2015 8:06 AM - Bill Monroe: i like the use of strut for the frame.. uber strong and easy to use
Apr 22, 2015 8:07 AM - Bill Monroe: put the whole thing in a heated enclosure and bingo.. ABS is no problem at all
    Apr 22, 2015 8:08 AM - Bill Monroe: 100% support with dissolvables..
Apr 22, 2015 8:08 AM - JeffTheMess: for that type of dual extruding you need the strength to keep it balanced right?
    Apr 22, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: new bearings. so oily
Apr 22, 2015 8:09 AM - Bill Monroe: the balance helps for auto-adjust
Apr 22, 2015 8:09 AM - JeffTheMess: anybody have a link for dissovleable filament?
Apr 22, 2015 8:10 AM - Bill Monroe: just serach for HIPS and PVA
Apr 22, 2015 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: jeff just wait until you print with s3d support. you will be happy
Apr 22, 2015 8:12 AM - Bill Monroe: S3D works better than others, but dissolvables make MUCH better surfaces
Apr 22, 2015 8:12 AM - Bill Monroe: they have to be dissolved though.. there's a tradeoff
    Apr 22, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: yes. i don't want to deal with that
Apr 22, 2015 8:12 AM - Bill Monroe: "peelable" is an option too

Apr 22, 2015 12:05 PM - JeffTheMess: finally they left i didn't even have to be there
    Apr 22, 2015 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: nice

Apr 22, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: @way post pics of your wiring just to make sure everything looks fine
Apr 22, 2015 12:14 PM - JeffTheMess: gonna eat some greek then ill crack her open maybe 7ish
    Apr 22, 2015 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: Eastern time?
    Apr 22, 2015 12:17 PM - JeffTheMess: yup
Apr 22, 2015 12:18 PM - jbigler1986: Cool. I will try to be around then
    Apr 22, 2015 12:18 PM - JeffTheMess: nice thanks
    Apr 22, 2015 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: Np
Apr 22, 2015 12:24 PM - JeffTheMess: Anyone ever did the real escape the room?
    Apr 22, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: NOPE
    Apr 22, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: sorry for caps
    Apr 22, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: what
Apr 22, 2015 12:26 PM - JeffTheMess: Escape the room they took the game and made it real
Apr 22, 2015 12:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: like trapped in a room with a zombie?
Apr 22, 2015 12:27 PM - JeffTheMess: if your friend are zombies yeah :)
Apr 22, 2015 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: this is new to me
    Apr 22, 2015 12:28 PM - JeffTheMess: its fun stuff i hear
    Apr 22, 2015 12:28 PM - JeffTheMess: i love the games
Apr 22, 2015 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: is it an IRL thing or video game thing
Apr 22, 2015 12:30 PM - JeffTheMess: heres conan doing it
    Apr 22, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Apr 22, 2015 12:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: so it is trapped in a room with a zombie kind of thing
    Apr 22, 2015 12:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: http://roomescapeadventures.com/boston/
    Apr 22, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: http://denverescaperoom.com/
Apr 22, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: is ours
Apr 22, 2015 12:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: did that back in August or September
Apr 22, 2015 12:32 PM - JeffTheMess: you liked it?
    Apr 22, 2015 12:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: yeah
Apr 22, 2015 12:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: no one in our group died, but it did take us almost the full hour to get out
    Apr 22, 2015 12:33 PM - JeffTheMess: nice
Apr 22, 2015 12:34 PM - Stephen Capistron: It took us a while to figure out a game plan, but once we figured out which roles we should all take on it went well
    Apr 22, 2015 12:35 PM - JeffTheMess: team work
    Apr 22, 2015 12:35 PM - WayUpNorthMN: REALY
Apr 22, 2015 12:35 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I dont have any JST connectors, and I dont know where to get them.
Apr 22, 2015 12:35 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Looks like I am done for today.
    Apr 22, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: you don't need them
    Apr 22, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: i told you that already
Apr 22, 2015 12:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: But I dont want to chop them off of my printer.
    Apr 22, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: then you will need them
Apr 22, 2015 12:37 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Do hardware stores sell them? It seems like it is hard to find.
Apr 22, 2015 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: they would still be on the printer
Apr 22, 2015 12:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Ill just rob them off of my other components.
Apr 22, 2015 12:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Lots of splicing to do! :D
Apr 22, 2015 12:39 PM - jbigler1986: you can do it that way too. are you sure you have jst connectors though
    Apr 22, 2015 12:39 PM - WayUpNorthMN: ?
    Apr 22, 2015 12:39 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Yeah
    Apr 22, 2015 12:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: The E3D came with one
    Apr 22, 2015 12:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Just one
Apr 22, 2015 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: that is to ply into the ramps
    Apr 22, 2015 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: plug
Apr 22, 2015 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: you can use them that way if you want to though. i did it with my fan connector
Apr 22, 2015 12:41 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Well I have my thermister already cut and installed, so we will see.
Apr 22, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: so much to do tonight

    Apr 22, 2015 12:50 PM - jbigler1986: i got nadda to do tonight
Apr 22, 2015 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: got a dial indicator yesterday. hardor freight is having some good deals on stuff
    Apr 22, 2015 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: harbor
Apr 22, 2015 12:51 PM - Mike Kelly: you should fix my wiring and setup my new printer
    Apr 22, 2015 12:51 PM - JeffTheMess: birthday gift
    Apr 22, 2015 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: printer is nice and level
    Apr 22, 2015 12:51 PM - WayUpNorthMN: SO, can i run the E3D without a fan?
    Apr 22, 2015 12:52 PM - JeffTheMess: you need a fan
    Apr 22, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: hotend fan?
Apr 22, 2015 12:52 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Yeah, I heard on reddit that it is not needed.
Apr 22, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: absolutely do not run the E3D without a fan
Apr 22, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: it comes with a fan. just wire it up
    Apr 22, 2015 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: i would never run any hotend without a fan
    Apr 22, 2015 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: unless it was water cooled
Apr 22, 2015 12:53 PM - JeffTheMess: yeah someone is trolling on reddit put a fan
Apr 22, 2015 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i've heard people say their fan died and they didn't realize it because they were printing with ABS which has a very high glass transition temperature
Apr 22, 2015 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: you might be able to get away with it and PLA. I just wouldn't chance it. DOn't cut corners
    Apr 22, 2015 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: but it's ill advised
Apr 22, 2015 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA would definitely not work
    Apr 22, 2015 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: ^
Apr 22, 2015 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: depends how long the print is
Apr 22, 2015 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: the heatsink right now is like 40C if you let that go up anymore the filament will expand and jam inside the heat break
    Apr 22, 2015 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: i wouldn't attempt it at all
Apr 22, 2015 12:59 PM - JeffTheMess: listen to the ME guy he's a smart dude
Apr 22, 2015 1:00 PM - jbigler1986: the wiring is so simple. should have asked Matt if he would wire it for you or send it to someone if you don't feel comfortable
Apr 22, 2015 1:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am not comfortable at all with my wiring skills
    Apr 22, 2015 1:02 PM - jbigler1986: where do you live
    Apr 22, 2015 1:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Minnesota
Apr 22, 2015 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: i should have figured considering your name. my bad
Apr 22, 2015 1:03 PM - JeffTheMess: go to a local ee community college have them help
    Apr 22, 2015 1:06 PM - jbigler1986: friends or family?
Apr 22, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Kelly: buy some crimp connectors
Apr 22, 2015 1:10 PM - jbigler1986: you could literally twist all of those wires together and they would work
    Apr 22, 2015 1:11 PM - jbigler1986: that's how easy they are to wire
Apr 22, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: or just run it back to the ramps
Apr 22, 2015 1:12 PM - Shank: hey jb, do you know where i can buy a longer ribbon for my XXL LCD
Apr 22, 2015 1:13 PM - jbigler1986: i do not. lots of people have had issues with longer cables depending on how long you go
    Apr 22, 2015 1:14 PM - jbigler1986: @way get some connectors like this http://www.radioshack.com/16-14-gauge-insulated-crimp-on-butt-connector-16-pack/6403109.html#start=6
Apr 22, 2015 1:14 PM - jbigler1986: although not sure if those would work on the heater cartridge. MK can chime in on that
Apr 22, 2015 1:14 PM - Shank: i just wanna run it to the otherside of my printer
    Apr 22, 2015 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: so the left side?
    Apr 22, 2015 1:15 PM - Shank: ya
Apr 22, 2015 1:15 PM - Shank: its on the sd card side now
    Apr 22, 2015 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: that would be a long ribbon cable.
Apr 22, 2015 1:15 PM - WayUpNorthMN: what was the gcode to turn off steppers
    Apr 22, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: reprap.org/wiki/G-code
    Apr 22, 2015 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: M18
Apr 22, 2015 1:19 PM - WayUpNorthMN: does it really not fit in the printer?
Apr 22, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: has to do with the data transmission protocal
Apr 22, 2015 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: longer you get data loss
Apr 22, 2015 1:21 PM - WayUpNorthMN: No, the hotend itself..
Apr 22, 2015 1:21 PM - Mike Kelly: did you read my thread?
Apr 22, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly: you need to countersink a bit to get it to fit well
    Apr 22, 2015 1:22 PM - jbigler1986: takes 2 seconds
Apr 22, 2015 1:22 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Could you send it to me?
Apr 22, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: it's stuck in the mods and upgrades

    Apr 22, 2015 1:26 PM - jbigler1986: no
    Apr 22, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Apr 22, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: it won't fit otherwise
    Apr 22, 2015 1:27 PM - jbigler1986: do you? hell it's been forever
    Apr 22, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's never fit
Apr 22, 2015 1:27 PM - WayUpNorthMN: DO I just leave it off then?
Apr 22, 2015 1:28 PM - Mike Kelly: no, please read that thread. I put a lot of work into it to make sure all answers are in there
Apr 22, 2015 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: MK do you remember the issue I had with your firmware from that guide
Apr 22, 2015 1:29 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I probably should take the gantry off huh
Apr 22, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm jb no
Apr 22, 2015 1:29 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am trying to install the hotend with the gantry still on the printer
Apr 22, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: you can absolutely do it that way
    Apr 22, 2015 1:30 PM - jbigler1986: That's how I did it
Apr 22, 2015 1:30 PM - Mike Kelly: taking the greg's wade off makes it easier to do the drilling
Apr 22, 2015 1:32 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Wait, what do I need to drill? For the PTFE?
    Apr 22, 2015 1:32 PM - Mike Kelly: ...
Apr 22, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: The fourth would be "What do I do with the PTFE tube?" To Start, the PTFE tube is CRITICAL for the hotends operations. If you don't use the PTFE there's a very good chance of jamming or buckling of the filament. Definitely include it. At a minimum trim the PTFE at the top of the pneumatic fitting. I don't advise this as it can be difficult to insert filament and negates the real benefits offered by the v6, such as flexible materials.
Apr 22, 2015 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: Instead I suggest you modify the Greg's Wade Extruder base piece, by drilling out a 4.2mm hole or a #20 drill bit. This will allow for the PTFE to be fed up to just beneath the hobbed bolt. You'll then trim away filament just below the bolt to allow for as seemless of a transition from the hob to the nozzle:
Apr 22, 2015 1:34 PM - jbigler1986: you know the hole that the filament goes into?

Apr 22, 2015 1:36 PM - jbigler1986: I have my hotend off right now. I will take a quick video when I get home man
    Apr 22, 2015 1:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay, I started a crappy video stream. http://tinychat.com/printedfrustration
    Apr 22, 2015 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: i don't have audio on right now
Apr 22, 2015 1:41 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Nevermind with the video, I tried. lol
Apr 22, 2015 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: I will take a quick vid and show you where you need to drill
Apr 22, 2015 1:45 PM - WayUpNorthMN: This is getting way too complicated. :(
Apr 22, 2015 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: it's really not that difficult
Apr 22, 2015 1:45 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am afraid I will break something quick
Apr 22, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: should only take about 15 minutes
    Apr 22, 2015 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: do you have a drill
Apr 22, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: or drill bits
Apr 22, 2015 1:47 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am just going to leave the tubing flush for now, and I will worry about the flexible filament capability later.
    Apr 22, 2015 1:47 PM - WayUpNorthMN: ANd of course :)
Apr 22, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: at the very least you need to do the 7mm or greater hole otherwise it won't fit great
Apr 22, 2015 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: you simply take the drill with the correct drill bit. drill out the filament hole just to make it slightly larger
Apr 22, 2015 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: literaly one pass is enough. the plastic is soft
Apr 22, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: the 7mm diameter x 3mm deep hole can be done by hand as well
Apr 22, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Kelly: just give it a few twists
    Apr 22, 2015 1:49 PM - jbigler1986: ^

Apr 22, 2015 1:49 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Oky, so what size of bit do I need
    Apr 22, 2015 1:49 PM - WayUpNorthMN: 7mm?
Apr 22, 2015 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: or greater, just no less than 7mm
Apr 22, 2015 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: which is just over 1/4"
    Apr 22, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i think i used a 5/16th
Apr 22, 2015 1:50 PM - Mike Kelly: looks like a J size bit would be good
    Apr 22, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: next fractional is 9/32
Apr 22, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: any bigger is fine as well
Apr 22, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: the point is a counterbore to allow the ptc fitting to sit in without pushing the nozzle down
Apr 22, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: othwerwise you'll have difficulty putting the nozzle on and screwing in the side screws
    Apr 22, 2015 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: 5/16 is for the filament hole? god i don't remember
Apr 22, 2015 1:53 PM - Mike Kelly: no 5/16" you probably used for the ptc, that's around 8mm
Apr 22, 2015 1:53 PM - jbigler1986: i'm just gonna stop throwing out drill sizes without double checking
    Apr 22, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Kelly: a #20 bit is ~4.2mm
    Apr 22, 2015 1:54 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.custompartnet.com/drill-size-chart
    Apr 22, 2015 1:54 PM - jbigler1986: i have a horrible memory
    Apr 22, 2015 1:55 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess a #19 wouldn't be quite as snug
Apr 22, 2015 1:55 PM - Mike Kelly: but really anything over 4mm is fine
Apr 22, 2015 1:59 PM - WayUpNorthMN: can I drill from the top down
Apr 22, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: not for the 7mm, just remove the two screws holding the gregs wade
    Apr 22, 2015 2:00 PM - jbigler1986: I did it from the bottom up
    Apr 22, 2015 2:00 PM - jbigler1986: for both
Apr 22, 2015 2:01 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay so how do I remove the actual fan mount?
Apr 22, 2015 2:01 PM - Mike Kelly: dude you're killing me here
Apr 22, 2015 2:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am not used to doing this.
Apr 22, 2015 2:02 PM - Mike Kelly: "To remove the stock fan holder remove the two screws here. Apr 22, 2015 2:04 PM - Mike Kelly: to get the gregs wade off
Apr 22, 2015 2:05 PM - Mike Kelly: then drill
Apr 22, 2015 2:05 PM - Stephen Capistron: drill baby drill
Apr 22, 2015 2:05 PM - Stephen Capistron: can you tell Mike is in the oil and gas business
    Apr 22, 2015 2:08 PM - jbigler1986: Or porn
    Apr 22, 2015 2:08 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Lol
Apr 22, 2015 2:08 PM - WayUpNorthMN: K, got that dang fan mount off.
Apr 22, 2015 2:09 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Do I have to print the new one without having a fan running on it?
Apr 22, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it prints fine without a fan or you can secure it on with zip ties
Apr 22, 2015 2:19 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay, now I am getting somewhere. I am not much of a tinkerer lol
Apr 22, 2015 2:19 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I mostly do my making in programming :)

Apr 22, 2015 2:24 PM - Mike Kelly: no polarity
    Apr 22, 2015 2:24 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay, good.
    Apr 22, 2015 2:24 PM - jbigler1986: Only the fans matter
Apr 22, 2015 2:25 PM - WayUpNorthMN: SOrry, I am just pretty scared. Not used to fully disassembling $800 worth of tech.
Apr 22, 2015 2:25 PM - Stephen Capistron: She's going from suck to blow
Apr 22, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Kelly: just don't let fear paralyze you
Apr 22, 2015 2:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: Most every part can be replaced for short money
    Apr 22, 2015 2:28 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. I was scared at first too
Apr 22, 2015 2:29 PM - jbigler1986: Now it doesn't bother me at all. I remove my hotend a few times a week it seems for one reason or another
Apr 22, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i watched all the assembly videos to get more comfortable with how it was made
    Apr 22, 2015 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: That's a good idea
    Apr 22, 2015 2:32 PM - WayUpNorthMN: ErMAHGHERD
Apr 22, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Glass: What resistor will trick the exruder so that it thinks it's running
Apr 22, 2015 2:33 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I got it to start preheating.
    Apr 22, 2015 2:33 PM - WayUpNorthMN: SO SATISFIED
Apr 22, 2015 2:34 PM - jbigler1986: Electrical is not my strong point MG
Apr 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: like what resistor value?
    Apr 22, 2015 2:34 PM - WayUpNorthMN: ^ @jbig
Apr 22, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: you'd need to look at the thermistor table and find one around 200C
Apr 22, 2015 2:35 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Jesus this preheats fast
    Apr 22, 2015 2:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: $85 well spent? I do believe so.
Apr 22, 2015 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: did you flash the firmware?
Apr 22, 2015 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: it's running the hexagon PID values which uses a 25W heater instead of the E3D's 40W
    Apr 22, 2015 2:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: No
    Apr 22, 2015 2:37 PM - WayUpNorthMN: How do I do so?
Apr 22, 2015 2:37 PM - Mike Glass: ok 10 ohms should work..
Apr 22, 2015 2:37 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So it is underpowered right now?
    Apr 22, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: overpowered
Apr 22, 2015 2:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: How do I flash said firmware?
Apr 22, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: with arduino ide
Apr 22, 2015 2:39 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Is it normal for it to smell slightly burnt right away?
    Apr 22, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: http://reprap.org/wiki/PID_Tuning
Apr 22, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: do the pid autotune
    Apr 22, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Glass: http://help.robo3dprinter.com/Wiki/RoBo_3D_Firmware
Apr 22, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Glass: oiy somebody should have precompiled for robo with E3d's
Apr 22, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: a slight burning smell is normal on first heat, just manufacturing oils
Apr 22, 2015 2:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay, just making sure.
Apr 22, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i have firmwares in my thread
Apr 22, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: but i don't remember if i added in PID values
    Apr 22, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i did
Apr 22, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: but everyones is a bit different so doesn't hurt to get your own
Apr 22, 2015 2:52 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay, so why exactly is this useful again? I have never seen this feature :)
Apr 22, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: it'll get to the correct temperature faster without overshooting
Apr 22, 2015 2:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Gotcha. So it allows the firmware to ramp up the temp at the correct speed, so it prevents going way over like mine did? :D
Apr 22, 2015 2:55 PM - Mike Kelly: yup exactly
Apr 22, 2015 2:55 PM - Mike Kelly: a well tuned PID will hit the mark and stay there
Apr 22, 2015 2:56 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay, so can this be done solely from a gcode terminal?
    Apr 22, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Apr 22, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: you should then add the values to the firmware
Apr 22, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: so you don't need to set it every time
Apr 22, 2015 2:56 PM - WayUpNorthMN: With arduino ide?

    Apr 22, 2015 2:58 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Apr 22, 2015 2:58 PM - WayUpNorthMN: does robo come with Marln by default?
    Apr 22, 2015 2:59 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a slightly revised version
Apr 22, 2015 2:59 PM - Mike Kelly: download the firmware from the bottom of this first post: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...ormation-installation-guides-and-review.3407/
Apr 22, 2015 3:00 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So the actual PID loop is what holds the temp at one spot?
Apr 22, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Kelly: then look for this line: // If you are using a pre-configured hotend then you can use one of the value sets by uncommenting it // Ultimaker #define DEFAULT_Kp 22.2 #define DEFAULT_Ki 1.08 #define DEFAULT_Kd 114
    Apr 22, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Kelly: correct
    Apr 22, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Kelly: i find it using a ctrl+f for kd
    Apr 22, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Kelly: in configuration.h
Apr 22, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Kelly: then just replace the kp, ki, and kd values with what the PID autotune spits out
Apr 22, 2015 3:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Gotcha. And C3 would be less accurate than C10?
    Apr 22, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Kelly: correct
Apr 22, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Kelly: i usually just do 8 cycles, seems to be fine
Apr 22, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Kelly: you can run it again after putting in the revised PID values
Apr 22, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: there's kind of diminishing returns the more you do it
Apr 22, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: just depends how precisely you want it to hold temperature and reach temperature
Apr 22, 2015 3:05 PM - WayUpNorthMN: would you mind coming on teamviewer
Apr 22, 2015 3:05 PM - WayUpNorthMN: if you have it
Apr 22, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i can do that
Apr 22, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: send me your login codes
Apr 22, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Kelly: got it
Apr 22, 2015 3:07 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Alright, so I got the arduino ide
    Apr 22, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: http://reprap.org/wiki/PID_Tuning
Apr 22, 2015 3:11 PM - jbigler1986: Can I use e3d heatblock with hex heatsink and hex heat break
Apr 22, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: the threads align but it's a little longer
    Apr 22, 2015 3:15 PM - jbigler1986: So that's a yes?
    Apr 22, 2015 3:15 PM - jbigler1986: I broke my fucking heat break. I thought I ordered a new hex heat block but I can't find it
Apr 22, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Glass: How the hell did you do that?
Apr 22, 2015 3:25 PM - Mike Kelly: they're not super strong or anythign
Apr 22, 2015 3:26 PM - jbigler1986: Idk. Lol. I found my spare hex heat break. Gonna try this hex3D that I just made. Lol
    Apr 22, 2015 3:26 PM - jbigler1986: I mean spare heat block
Apr 22, 2015 3:32 PM - Bradf80: What's the stock hex good for temp wise?
    Apr 22, 2015 3:34 PM - Mike Kelly: uh
    Apr 22, 2015 3:34 PM - Mike Kelly: 400?
Apr 22, 2015 3:34 PM - Mike Kelly: the thermistor will become useless before then though
Apr 22, 2015 3:35 PM - Bradf80: This new PLA I bought says 230c so I'm sure it will do that temp then if it's max is 400
    Apr 22, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
    Apr 22, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 22, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: basically it can print up to the melting point of aluminum
Apr 22, 2015 3:37 PM - Bradf80: If I set the temp higher with MC do I have to upload a new file to the SD card with the adjusted temp?
Apr 22, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah if you change any value in the gcode you'll need a new slice
Apr 22, 2015 3:42 PM - Bradf80: would make sense as to why it went back to 195 after it preheated....efff uuu MC
Apr 22, 2015 3:43 PM - Bradf80: not really MC's fault but I'd like to blame someone else other than myself =P
Apr 22, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i generally blame MC as well
Apr 22, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Glass: MC SUUUUUck it
    Apr 22, 2015 3:45 PM - Bradf80: lol
Apr 22, 2015 3:46 PM - Bradf80: I'm working on using the other software, I started with MC so I'm comfortable with it
    Apr 22, 2015 3:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i hear that
Apr 22, 2015 3:47 PM - Bradf80: My biggest complaint has got to be the fact that it preheats the tip AFTER it checks the level, problem with this being if there's any residual plastic on the tip it throws the bed height off
Apr 22, 2015 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: you can change that in the startup gcode
Apr 22, 2015 3:49 PM - Bradf80: So my fix is to click preheat before I click start print and get the tip to temp first
Apr 22, 2015 3:50 PM - Bradf80: oh yeah? I'm not a coding expert so I'll have to look into that and see what I have to do lol
Apr 22, 2015 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: you don't need to be a coding expert, just able to read :)
Apr 22, 2015 3:50 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Omg... So now my extruder fan isnt running.
Apr 22, 2015 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: there's a G29 code that you need to move to the end
    Apr 22, 2015 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: it's all commented
Apr 22, 2015 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: and it's getting power way?
Apr 22, 2015 3:51 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Yes it should be
    Apr 22, 2015 3:51 PM - Bradf80: G28 X0 Y0 Z0 ; home all axes G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle M109 S[temperature] ; set the extruder temp and wait G28 Z0 ; Home Z again in case there was filament on nozzle M565 Z0 G29 ; probe the bed
    Apr 22, 2015 3:51 PM - Bradf80: That's the start gcode
    Apr 22, 2015 3:51 PM - Mike Kelly: got a multimeter?
    Apr 22, 2015 3:52 PM - Bradf80: I do, in the middle of a print atm though =P
Apr 22, 2015 3:52 PM - Mike Kelly: according to that it should be heating and then doing the autolevel
Apr 22, 2015 3:52 PM - Mike Kelly: "Home Z again in case there was filament on nozzle"
Apr 22, 2015 3:54 PM - Bradf80: I don't think it does a second homing, it does a home, then the 9 point, then goes to the rear corner, then starts the print
Apr 22, 2015 3:54 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Should the hotend fan always run? Because it isnt now.
Apr 22, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: yes the hot end fan should always run
Apr 22, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: measure the voltage coming in
    Apr 22, 2015 3:54 PM - Bradf80: I have mine off at the beginning of a print
Apr 22, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: and check the connection on the ramps
Apr 22, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: he means hot end fan, not part fan
Apr 22, 2015 3:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I must have broken the fan already.
    Apr 22, 2015 3:55 PM - Bradf80: lol
Apr 22, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: unlikely, probably just unpowered
Apr 22, 2015 3:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Because I plug in another and it works perfectly.
    Apr 22, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
    Apr 22, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Apr 22, 2015 3:56 PM - Mike Kelly: measure the resistance across the fan
Apr 22, 2015 3:57 PM - Bradf80: I'm using 3d Solutech See through green, looks cool under the blue light of the Robo =P
    Apr 22, 2015 3:57 PM - Mike Kelly: it's radioactive!
Apr 22, 2015 3:57 PM - Bradf80: lol yess!!! H/O a sec need to find my cat, always wanted a hairless one
Apr 22, 2015 3:58 PM - Bradf80: Did you guys see there was an exact replica glock pistol on Thingiverse, firing pin and all. That sucker was taken down in a hurry lol
Apr 22, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Glass: I just got more solutech yesterday. nice quality stuff
Apr 22, 2015 4:01 PM - Bradf80: I've used Robo's stuff they sent me, hatchbox, and solutech, all have been decent thus far
Apr 22, 2015 4:02 PM - Bradf80: 3d Solutech had a sale for $10.99 for 1kg of the clear green PLA on Amazon so I snagged a couple of rolls
    Apr 22, 2015 4:02 PM - Mike Glass: WHAT?
    Apr 22, 2015 4:02 PM - Mike Glass: damn
Apr 22, 2015 4:02 PM - Bradf80: I dunno if they were clearancing them or what but I jumped on it lol
    Apr 22, 2015 4:03 PM - Bradf80: it was like 2 weeks ago I think
Apr 22, 2015 4:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Pretty sure I messed the fan up.
    Apr 22, 2015 4:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: What size is it anyway/
Apr 22, 2015 4:03 PM - Mike Glass: yeat its its 29.99 now
Apr 22, 2015 4:04 PM - Mike Glass: I wanna try some aqua blue and gold
Apr 22, 2015 4:07 PM - Bradf80: I like how they 3d print a clip for each spool to hold the filament lol
    Apr 22, 2015 4:11 PM - Mike Kelly: 30mm
    Apr 22, 2015 4:26 PM - jbigler1986: Got my hex3D setup
Apr 22, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Glass: Sounds like you should have more spare parts..heh
Apr 22, 2015 4:59 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. About to hit up Matt. Lol
Apr 22, 2015 5:18 PM - Mike Glass: How did you break it?
Apr 22, 2015 5:31 PM - jbigler1986: i bent it this morning somehow. so trying to bend it back it snapped. oh well

    Apr 22, 2015 5:32 PM - jbigler1986: MK will v5 heat break work on v6
Apr 22, 2015 5:33 PM - Mike Glass: yea its bent its bent for life
Apr 22, 2015 5:33 PM - jbigler1986: yep. gonna order 2 or 3 from matt. that way i have em
    Apr 22, 2015 5:34 PM - jbigler1986: so running the hex heatsink/heatbreak with e3d heatblock and nozzle
Apr 22, 2015 5:35 PM - Mike Glass: Im gonna get a MK9 for my multitool
    Apr 22, 2015 6:04 PM - Kelly Meeks: unpacking a new robo 3d r1 - no thumbdrive
Apr 22, 2015 6:05 PM - Kelly Meeks: is there anything on the thumbdrive that can't be downloaded?
    Apr 22, 2015 6:17 PM - jbigler1986: Nope
Apr 22, 2015 6:30 PM - jbigler1986: Pretty sure it's just the latest Mattercontrol and the latest firmware
Apr 22, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Glass: um not the latest firmware, we all know this JB
    Apr 22, 2015 7:20 PM - TechSupportGo: hello
Apr 22, 2015 7:40 PM - Kelly Meeks: I'm running on a mac, and in mattercontrol->controls->firmware, keeps saying robo3dr1autov1 is the version update available
Apr 22, 2015 7:40 PM - Kelly Meeks: run update, re-connect, but keeps saying the same thing afterwards
Apr 22, 2015 7:42 PM - Kelly Meeks: I ask because I'm not sure it's autoleveling correctly, can't get a test print, keeps dragging print around

Apr 23, 2015 at 3:08 AM - jbigler1986: Don't listen to Mattercontrol. Update firmware outside of Mattercontrol then don't do whatever Mattercontrol tells you.
Apr 23, 2015 at 4:39 AM - Bill Monroe: *yawn*
    Apr 23, 2015 at 4:50 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Apr 23, 2015 at 4:51 AM - jbigler1986: printing with sequential right now
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:04 AM - Bill Monroe: sequenstial is the schitz
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: with my hex3D i created
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: lol
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: whats a hex3D?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: part hexagon, part e3d
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: oh heheh
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: i broke my e3d heat break
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:06 AM - Bill Monroe: I'd like to see S3D offer sequesntial printing on single parts with multiple towers..
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:06 AM - Bill Monroe: you noof
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:06 AM - jbigler1986: so using hex heatsink/heatbreak and e3d heatblock and nozzle. i have an extra hex heat block i just didn't feel like removing the thermistor and heater cartridge
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:07 AM - jbigler1986: can i use hex nozzle on e3d
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:07 AM - jbigler1986: or just e3d nozzle on hex block
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: I dunno.. if it fits I guess
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm working on the design for my nest printer
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: next
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:09 AM - jbigler1986: how much is that gonna cost you
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: hard to say, I have so much surplus stuff that I'll be using
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: NEMA 23 motors
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: proximity sensors for end stops
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: printed parts
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: lots of 80/20 strut
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: so it won't be to bad then if you have most of the stuff
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:13 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. its one of the design criteria, dont buy nothin new :)
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:13 AM - Bill Monroe: I need to get an LCD panel though, I dont have an xtra one
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:13 AM - BryZad: morning all
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: morning
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: BZ
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: no ramps
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:15 AM - BryZad: hey question if I was going to build another printer should I look at a reprap ?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: Rostock V2
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe: just a personal opinion, I'd stay away from anything that has a dual Z lifing head
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe: The rostock is cool.. buddy has one
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe: but it suz at ABS.. as do most consumer printers
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe: sux
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: Yeah, an enclosure is a must
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:18 AM - jbigler1986: yep heat chamber is needed for abs
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:18 AM - jbigler1986: or enclosure rather
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: I know, just get a tiko
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:19 AM - jbigler1986: lmao
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: Herculein is also a good build
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:24 AM - jbigler1986: I think I'm going to end up removing the robo case and building one for it. My robo is printing awesome so no reason to go elsewhere
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:25 AM - Kelly Meeks: Seems like all of the links I'm finding eternally to specific board topics on this site redirect to the general index.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: searching through google?
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:26 AM - Kelly Meeks: Did the structure of the support/naming of the support boards change? Yes, via google.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: that is why
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: the forum switched over to a new service in the beginning of march
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: so everything hasn't been indxed by google yet
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:27 AM - jbigler1986: just search within the search option on the top right
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: I like everything about the hurculien except the head..
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:30 AM - Kelly Meeks: I'll give that another go.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:30 AM - Kelly Meeks: My issue is trying to get the print head lower when printing. Seems like it's about 1/4" to far up.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:31 AM - Stephen Capistron: What software are you using to print with?
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:32 AM - Kelly Meeks: I've done the sheet of paper calibration - I think. Via mattercontrol.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:32 AM - jbigler1986: have you changed your offset?
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: The one where you lower the head in matter control until it just touches the paper, or a manually adjustment?
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:33 AM - Kelly Meeks: Yes, I lowered the head in mattercontrol until I could feel subtle resistance on the paper when pulling it through.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: Yeah, don't bother with that version of auto-level
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:36 AM - Kelly Meeks: I'm wondering if it's a firmware issue. mattercontrol says there's an update. I've already been told that flashing firmware via mattercontrol isn't best practice.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: in fact make sure you disable it within the software
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:37 AM - Kelly Meeks: The version I'm running doesn't even show it as an option.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:37 AM - jbigler1986: yeah ignore Mattercontrol firmware prompts
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:38 AM - jbigler1986: have you followed the steps from the firmware page?
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: I haven't used matter control in months. It used to be a little check box option but matter control likes to change for the sake of change so it could be anywhere now
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:39 AM - Kelly Meeks: Thank you for the help btw, much appreciated. Obviously, I'm a noob to 3d printing.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: For firmware ...

Apr 23, 2015 at 5:39 AM - Kelly Meeks: Are you running via PC, mac or linux?
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:39 AM - jbigler1986: I would suggest you that you skip Mattercontrol all together and begin with Cura. It's an easy setup and you will get more help with that
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: PC. I use Cura. The price is right (free)
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/how-to-cura-setup.4169/
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: It is not as flashy looking as Matter Control but it is more stable in a number of ways
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Kelly Meeks: Excellent, thank you for the suggestions. I'll take stability over flash any day!
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:42 AM - BryZad: cura hates random triangles and of vertcies
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:43 AM - jbigler1986: I use cura for single parts that don't need support. I use simplify3d for multiple parts or parts that need support
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: Defiantly avoid mattercontrol though. it has lots of bugs plus nobody here uses it (for reasons)
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Kelly Meeks: Very good to know, I'm looking forward to getting back in front of my unit and at least getting a good test print
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: Someone is usually here that will be able to help you get it going
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:46 AM - Kelly Meeks: I'm a software engineer, I'd do all of this via the command line if it worked! Pretty interfaces with crap functionality, sucks.

Apr 23, 2015 at 5:48 AM - JeffTheMess: Good morning robonauts, hey jb sorry i wasn't on last night my ife got sick
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:49 AM - BryZad: is Simp free ?
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: S3D is like $150 or so
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: and worth every pennet
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: and penny too :)
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:51 AM - jbigler1986: it's ok jeff. I wasn't really on myself. I was busy frankensteining my hotend
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: then i was kind of sick myself so i just chilled. I tried to make a few parts in SW but that lasted about 2 minutes before i passed out
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: SW will do that to ya :)
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: brain overload.. cant.. stay.... awake......
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: i was going to make the tool holder with puzzle cut (that you failed me on) lol
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: hey, I didnt fail you.. that was a demo for puzzle cutting
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: i have no idea what kind of cleaeance your machine needs for proper fit

Apr 23, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: see? mine is .3 my PC machine is .1
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: the PC machine is so dialed in, you have to assemble the parts while they're still hot
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: once they cool, they are NOT coming apart
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:02 AM - jbigler1986: my negative clearance is dialed in. i printed the negative tolerance test and all 5 of the pillars came out
    Apr 23, 2015 at 6:02 AM - jbigler1986: .5 was before i had it totally dialed in
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: gads.. ebay now is full of china people
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:04 AM - jbigler1986: negative tolerance not clearance. you know what i mean
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: yep. i always select the US only option
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, I resisted jumping on ya :)
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: the first 3 literally just fell out when i removed the part
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: 4th i just barely pulled. the 5th i had to give a little wiggle and tug but it came out fine

Apr 23, 2015 at 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: the 2004 looks like a mini XXL
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: its just for a test bed.. on my actual printer I use the XXL
    Apr 23, 2015 at 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: xxl is overpriced
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: how do you figure?
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: those large LCDs arent cheap

Apr 23, 2015 at 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, kickstarter/croed funded projects rarely ever work..
    Apr 23, 2015 at 6:19 AM - jbigler1986: but we wouldn't have a robo if it wasn't for kickstarter
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:20 AM - Bill Monroe: im pretty sure the 3D printing world would be fine if there was no robo
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: its all about money folks, we would all have nice expensive printers if money wasn't a thing to worry about
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:21 AM - Bill Monroe: my first unit was a 300 kit works as good a the robo
    Apr 23, 2015 at 6:22 AM - jbigler1986: but i wouldn't be fine without my robo :)

    Apr 23, 2015 at 6:31 AM - jbigler1986: reffering to?
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:32 AM - JeffTheMess: the only difference is schools give a paper saying you are worth something to the world

Apr 23, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: have you ever noticed that, the tuition for undergraduate classes skyrockets if you have advanced degrees?
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: I dont grok that logic
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:59 AM - jbigler1986: they think they make more money so you can afford it

Apr 23, 2015 at 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: yeah lots of bbq places are like that
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:04 AM - Mike Kelly: apparently, now i know
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:05 AM - jbigler1986: kinda hard to cook more when it takes so long to smoke bbq
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:05 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i totally get that, wish i knew before making the 35 minute drive up though...
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:06 AM - jbigler1986: hopefully you found something else good though

Apr 23, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:12 AM - Mike Kelly: gotta decide where it should go
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: pretty sure a little piece of that clip got into the nozzle too
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:13 AM - Mike Kelly: ouch man
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: couldn't extrude with it. put on my .6 and no issues. just realized i could have put on the hex .4
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:14 AM - Mike Kelly: not on the e3d
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:14 AM - jbigler1986: matt said you could
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:14 AM - Mike Kelly: e3d's work on hex heater blocks, hex do not work on e3d heater blocks
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: So those are interchangeable? Can I use the hexagon nozzle on them? his response was "Yes. But the e3d nozzles are much better"
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Mike Kelly: if you're using the e3d heater block you can only use e3d nozzles
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: asking about the e3d heat bloxk
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: hexagon heat break worked fine on the e3d heat block. is the hex nozzle threading different
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:19 AM - Mike Kelly: it's shorter
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:21 AM - jbigler1986: hex heat block is thicker though. at least it seemed like it last night. didn't put them side by side. why wouldn't it work
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: a got a graphics lcd from my brother
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: i ordered a new .4 nozzle earlier. just wondering
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: awesome.
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't remember exact numbers but let's say the hexagon threads are 8mm and the e3d's are 10mm
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:23 AM - Mike Kelly: the hexagon won't be able to reach the heat break on the e3d heater block leaving a gap
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:24 AM - jbigler1986: can't thread the heat break in farther? seems like plenty of space
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:24 AM - jbigler1986: to still leave a nice gap from heat block to heat sink
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:24 AM - Mike Kelly: in theory probably but you want a nice sharp heat break transition
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: might just do it tonight and see if it jams
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:26 AM - jbigler1986: just to test. not going to leave it on though as you know way more than me
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd be curious to know
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:26 AM - Mike Kelly: lemme look at my model
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: k
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't know everything :)
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why i usually say "I believe ____" "I think
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: ____"
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:27 AM - jbigler1986: fair enough
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm wrong plenty of times, part of the learning process
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:28 AM - jbigler1986: this sequential printing is going good. i only gave it 5mm of clearance just in case
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:28 AM - Mike Kelly: neat, in simplify3d?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: had to reinstall the damn hex mount too. probably could have left the e3d one on and just turned the heatblock sideways like i did anyways
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:34 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5oxgkncho64461c/hex w v6 block.PNG?dl=0
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: theoretically possible if you're able to thread the hexagon heatsink all the way in
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: which it should. hmmm
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: probably won't be until like 10 until i can check
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: right
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: only thing from stopping is from threading it farther is the nozzle
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i found the cuts for the wrench blocked threading
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Kelly: and there's nothing really to torque with so you run the risk of ruining it
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: don't remember how much more space below the wrench cut i had
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: huh?
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:43 AM - jbigler1986: to thread it more before hitting the little cut outs where the wrench goes
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: according to my model the entire threaded portion, including wrench cuts, is inside the heater block
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: is the hex nozzle that much shorter?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9j04rd5uwnlef3y/v6 vs hex nozzle.PNG?dl=0
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:48 AM - Mike Kelly: threads are 1.5mm less
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:57 AM - jbigler1986: gonna measure how much threads i have left before i do naything
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:03 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://dilbert.com/strip/2015-04-20
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: lmao so true
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: haha
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: so when are you going to add bluetooth to gas recovery?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: it's in beta testing
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Stephen Capistron: waiting a bit so they can make the housing with a tiko
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Mike Kelly: lol our system already has cellular and satellite!
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: lmao stephen
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: MK it's time to take off the rest of the day and play with the new R1
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: haha i know right
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: so much to do no time to do it
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: did way end up getting his e3d installed? i wasn't paying attention
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah then i guess his 30mm fan died
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: oh geeze. most likely a wiring issue
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: did he end up showing pics
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: looking for a m3 tap
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: no
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-taps/=wvmho4
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: he said he plugged other fans in and they worked

    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: i have never killed a fan before
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: i have had them stop working but that's after a lot of use
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/e3dv6-feeding-trouble.5181/page-2#post-45316 o_O
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: easy to kill if you send too much voltage, but not sure how you would do that
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:47 AM - Stephen Capistron: The good magnetic fans are good for 50,000 hours, so a crap bearing fan should be good for 5,000-10,000 anyways
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:47 AM - jbigler1986: omg
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:48 AM - jbigler1986: MK. That guy should shut off his printer and sell it
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: seriously
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: can't follow basic instructions
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:48 AM - jbigler1986: simple. screw in the damn nozzle first
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:51 AM - jbigler1986: then the heat break and he will get the gap he needs instead of using that washer
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: the install instructions clearly say "tighten the nozzle down to the heater block then turn it back 1/4 of a turn away
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:58 AM - jbigler1986: i just gave him instructions. should be easy enough to follow
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: you'd think so but english isn't his first language so we'll see how well google translates that to japanese
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: did it make it clear enough?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: did I make it clear enough*
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: could use some more line breaks to dumb it down a bit more
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: I could yes
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: better?
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i might emphasize the unscrew 1/4 turn a bit more
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: any of you guys take workplace personality surveys, like DISC?
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: like briggs myer?
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: yeah
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i've taken those
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:07 AM - Mike Kelly: originally i got INTP but lately i've been an INTJ
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: and i agree with stephen. it looks like pink filament oozing out of the top of the nozzle
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: it is filament
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: not sure what you guys meant by tht
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:08 AM - Stephen Capistron: I don't remember my briggs. I was a high D in the other one. In otherwords, just get to the point
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i took that one but don't remember
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Stephen Capistron: i could just see a reply coming "i didn't glue it"
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: would have been like a decade ago
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: look at the top of his heatsink too. he has been doing some work on that bad boy. lol
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: "But I do not care about gap between hot-end and cool-end" ugh
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah he's frustrating
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: MK do you know if ace has any m3 screws
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: they do
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: small ones?
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:21 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah an assortment
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: well short i should say
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: not sure how short you're looking
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:23 AM - jbigler1986: like e3d thermistor short m3 x 3
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:24 AM - Mike Kelly: that might be too short
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: fastenal maybe
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: they've be a better bet

    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: just add a washer
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:28 AM - jbigler1986: shortest they have
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:29 AM - jbigler1986: gotta go to their corporate building. sluts. 30 minutes away vs. a few. oh well
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:46 AM - jbigler1986: maybe Matt has a few extras. He is shipping me some stuff tomorrow so I should ask.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: can't hurt
    Apr 23, 2015 at 9:48 AM - jbigler1986: He is very helpful
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:49 AM - jbigler1986: have you met him in person?
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: nope
Apr 23, 2015 at 9:56 AM - jbigler1986: hey would you look at that [IMG]

Apr 23, 2015 at 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: fix it?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:02 AM - jbigler1986: looks like he did
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:03 AM - jbigler1986: that's a good idea
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:06 AM - jbigler1986: i would like to do that with the hotend itseld
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:06 AM - jbigler1986: itself
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:15 AM - jbigler1986: how hard do you thing that would be? like something similar to the current setup but instead of screwing in the bolts they would slide in then clamp to magnets on the other side
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: shouldn't be an issue, especially if you left an air gap to kinda tension the magnets
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:17 AM - jbigler1986: would basically just need to find a good place to put the magnets
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:20 AM - jbigler1986: modifying the carriage be the easiest way probably?
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd modify the greg's wade extruder
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah. forgot that's actually where the bolts go
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: lets see how we can do this
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: did you like the mounting style for my bowden plate
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: i did yes. it was very simple
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: just use magnets instead of screws
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:25 AM - jbigler1986: i would need to go bowden thoug right?
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: no you'd design that into the greg's wade extruder base
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: my friend was actually going to try and model that
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if he ever did
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:26 AM - jbigler1986: that would be awesome
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:27 AM - jbigler1986: i would be all over that
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll ask, otherwise i don't think it would be too hard to make
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:28 AM - jbigler1986: ok. that's easy for you to say
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: well if i make it for you it is easy for me to say :)
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:29 AM - jbigler1986: lol. i will send you a cookie if you design it
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM - jbigler1986: my nozzle holder is finally almost done printing. stupid bowden clip
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM - Bill Monroe: argh.. big stars are never on time
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll hold you to that jb
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: ?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: deal
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: it'll probably be the wade reloaded design though since that's better suited for printing
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:33 AM - jbigler1986: just more printed parts and a little assembly. not a big deal
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i think most of the robo parts would fit, but the herringbone is a nice upgrade no matter how you slice it
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:38 AM - jbigler1986: good thing to print with the taulman 910
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: seems overkill but sure
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:39 AM - jbigler1986: well gonna need to test it on something durable
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:39 AM - jbigler1986: just a sample of it
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: is the herringbone the only real difference?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i believe so

Apr 23, 2015 at 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i was looking at pictures and don't see anything else that stands out atleast
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i believe the spacing and all that is the same
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: you could probably also use the bearing holder/hinge deal
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: from stock
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:44 AM - jbigler1986: then just use the main body and herringbone from the other
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: probably just use everything from the new one
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:48 AM - jbigler1986: carriage is almost done
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:52 AM - donhuevo: howdy fellas
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: hello
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:55 AM - donhuevo: how's it printin'?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: good http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: how is your chess board?
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:56 AM - donhuevo: I think I fried my ramps board. I was printing the last board corner
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:57 AM - FlyMario: you making a part for a Oneup? It looks like a lot of parts I have seen for those.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: who?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:58 AM - FlyMario: Jbigler
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:58 AM - FlyMario: whoever is showing that stream
    Apr 23, 2015 at 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: no. nozzle holder and x carriage
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:59 AM - donhuevo: lookin' good jb
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:59 AM - FlyMario: I have oneup on the brain. I am putting one together and thinking of parts I want to make for it.
Apr 23, 2015 at 10:59 AM - FlyMario: Hard to focus on it though when I have a Robo3d
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: Hey guys Coby here
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:01 AM - FlyMario: Every Part on your robo3d is gonna be blue soon enough.
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: cool ustream bigler!
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:04 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: are you replacing the x carriage?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:05 AM - FlyMario: afraid to stream mine. My Robo3D would probably attack my kitten.
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:06 AM - FlyMario: I keep picturing my kitten getting in there when it is printing and having it pinned down with plastic paw clamps
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: apparently kittens love 3d printers lol
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: Anybody got any cool projects going on right now?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM - donhuevo: well I lied about frying my ramps board. It was just the extruder thermistor. Easy fix.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM - FlyMario: oh
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM - FlyMario: well now you have a spare ramps board/
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:10 AM - FlyMario: ?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:11 AM - donhuevo: no. I didn't order one. Nothing was moving or heating. Thought ramps first but then saw the extruder temp was 0
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: don was it not plugged in?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:14 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: sometimes it falls out from the pins on the baord
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:15 AM - donhuevo: it was. As soon as I switched it out for another, everything is back to working
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: strange, those thigns can be a little finicky at times
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:16 AM - donhuevo: I've been pushing the printer hard for a while. I had a spare extruder wired ready to pop in
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:17 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: what have you been printing?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:17 AM - jbigler1986: @coby yes I am. I don't like the x switch on the carriage
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:17 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: small things or something big for a project?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:18 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: JB where did you relocate it to?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:19 AM - jbigler1986: putting it where the current x switch trigger is mounted.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:19 AM - donhuevo: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/donhuevo-s-robo3d
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: you guys should design a dual part fan x carriage
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: hey coby, you should set your text to red to make it more visible
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: almost everyone always adds a second fan
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: thanks mike
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: is there room under the carriage?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: how are you guys doing it now?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:21 AM - donhuevo: hiya Mike
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: hey don
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:23 AM - donhuevo: how do I change my text color?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: coby i took your design for the injection molded parts fan and heatsink fan and mirrored it to have a second fan
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: don you need to be a moderator
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:24 AM - donhuevo: what if I just drink in moderation? Is that enough?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:720018
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: not part of the job description
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:24 AM - donhuevo: ah
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: oh yes i see now
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: that is a very good way to do it
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Joey: That's similar to how the Ultimaker 2 has it setup
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: mike how is your auto level probe working? it looks very cool
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: hey joey
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: it's been working great with the new leaf spring design
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: is that more accurate than a limit switch?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd say the repeatibility between the two is nearly identical
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:26 AM - donhuevo: I still don't like seeing the extruder motor weighing down the carriage.
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: but now i have a distance between when the nozzle touches the bed and the switch triggers
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:27 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: so you have to redesign the bracket?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: Yeah, I'm not a fan of the way the glass flexes when that weight gets on it
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah http://i.imgur.com/dca1OtN.jpg
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:28 AM - donhuevo: all that inertia too
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:29 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: me either, but you have a much better extrusion experience when its direct drive IMO
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:29 AM - Mike Kelly: bowden has it's own crappy parts
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:29 AM - Stephen Capistron: Best solution. One of each :)
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:29 AM - donhuevo: haha
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:30 AM - Joey: I only like Bowden's for delta designs. Otherwise it seems too limiting
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:30 AM - donhuevo: limiting?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:30 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: well with bowden, you almost have to go 3mm from what i have experienced playing around with it
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: 3mm would feed at a slower rate allowing better grip on the filament and less slipping
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:31 AM - donhuevo: I don't get slipping
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: exactly mike
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: well aren't you special
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: how fast are you running don?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:32 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3woazo3m9w2wu1c/btv2.PNG?dl=0 this is my idea for a hybrid extruder with the cyclops
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: i had issues with bowden. when it did work stringing was bad.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:32 AM - donhuevo: http://i.imgur.com/QMmYOWp.jpg
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:32 AM - donhuevo: the fast column is what I'm using right now. I did back the travel speed back to 150
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:32 AM - Joey: The orion uses 1.75 mm filament, that works really well. The Wanhao 5s/Ideabuilder/Ultimaker 2 all use 3 mm on their bowdens
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: the rostock uses 1.75 right?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: wow that is fast
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: i bet the tiko uses 1.75
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: did you change any acceleration settings?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:33 AM - jbigler1986: lmao stephen
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: whats your guys opinion on the tiko?

    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: i just can't resist
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - jbigler1986: ask MK.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - donhuevo: I did tweak them.
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like a toy that will be a headache
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: would make a good foot rest
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: haha
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't trust their design choices
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mike Kelly: there's a reason printers don't use rack and pinion
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Mike Kelly: and 30mm/s max speed is crazy slow for a delta
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:34 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: i actually have one of their stepper motors they are using for their morion
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:35 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: its very small and pretty weak
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:35 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think they use gearing on it
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:35 AM - Mike Kelly: they're being tight lipped about their design choices on the drive mechanism
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: I bought MK a tiko for his bday. I think he cried a little
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:35 AM - Mike Kelly: which makes me apprehensive to trust what they're doing
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: haha i mean $200 is a good price, but what most kickstarters dont budget into their goal is overhead costs for when they are making the printers
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: coby braydon was mentioning to use that the Z axis might be switching to a lead screw stepper motor (one piece)
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: we almost didnt survive because of that
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah totally
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: nor did they budget troubleshooting
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: they said their COSP is only $79
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:37 AM - jbigler1986: job well done on sending Mike his printer though. Will help the community a lot
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: once they actually start shipping product, they wont have any money left
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: and i don't think you could assemble that thing with $100 and troublehsoot
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: i foresee another makibox
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: neither do i
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: though this time with 12,000 unhappy consumers
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: yes i do too
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - jbigler1986: its over 13k now
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: haha way too many printers to assemble, its going to take them over a year to deliver
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: it's unfortunate, people jump on a cheap product without considering the reality
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: their first delivery date is january i think
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - donhuevo: I do like some of their design choices though
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: but they got a chinese dude "with contacts"
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - jbigler1986:
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: well this is coming from us people that already know, which most people dont
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: so maybe they can find some cheap labor
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - donhuevo: the unibody is elegant
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: its their first time backing a kickstarter usually
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: it looks great yes
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:39 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: the most well suited up delta ive seen yet
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:40 AM - donhuevo: from a design perspective, it really simplifies things
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:40 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: i wonder how long the plastic will last with all that movement for hours and hours
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:41 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: without losing regidity or stability
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i agree, even if that things works shipping I feel like it'll need service within 100 hours
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: anyway mike, yes we are moving towards a printer with z axis lead screws
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: so no more helical couplers?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: they provide much better layer stacking, without any z wobble
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: no more couplers!
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - donhuevo: I'm gonna go buy some fireworks and celebrate right now
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: hazzah!
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - donhuevo: HfnC's
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: well if you need someone to make an instructional video on how to upgrade ;)
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: were taking the hit because it just makes sense for you guys
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:42 AM - jbigler1986: oh yes they do. installed them on mine and it made a huge difference
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:43 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: definitely mike!
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:43 AM - Joey: For the R1, or for future projects?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:43 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: R1 Joey
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:43 AM - Joey: Oh nice
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:44 AM - jbigler1986: is it going to be a full on kit or will some parts need to be printed?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:45 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: it will be a kit
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:45 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: basically 2 motors with lead screws and 2 nuts
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:45 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: just a swap out with no additional parts
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:45 AM - Mike Kelly: any insight into how the autolevel sensors will attach?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:46 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: the exact same
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:46 AM - Mike Kelly: crazy
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:46 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: were upgrading that part too, that can be printed as well. it just keeps them from being able to spin out if they arent seated correctly
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: it seems like during shipping they can get loose and just start spinning around
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: right
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: good call
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:47 AM - donhuevo: or mount them to the idler ends
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: thats basically how we did it
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:48 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: so they cant spin out but can still drop a little bit for the auto level
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:49 AM - jbigler1986: here is how i did mine [IMG]
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:49 AM - jbigler1986: works perfect
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: yes but those can still work their way down and potentially turn
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: good job though
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: with ours, it connects up above the pertruding (sp) part
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - jbigler1986: has yet to come off yet
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: nice
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:52 AM - donhuevo: on a side note Mike, since my printer was out of commission, I finally cracked open the power supply and installed a quieter fan
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: haha nice
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: i REALLY need to do that
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Kelly: mine is crazy loud
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:52 AM - donhuevo: don't know what size the 24v has in it but mine was 60mm
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:53 AM - jbigler1986: do you guys have an estimate on price?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: sometimes i find a piece of plastic fall in there and it just rattles like crazy
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: price for the upgrade?
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:53 AM - donhuevo: mine was definitely the bearing
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:53 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: not yet set, but probably around $100
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: those lead screws built into the motors are expensive
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:54 AM - donhuevo: yes they are
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: even lead screws with couplers dont give you the precision of having them directly into the motors
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:55 AM - jbigler1986: $100 for a pair or each?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:55 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: pair
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:55 AM - jbigler1986:
    Apr 23, 2015 at 11:55 AM - jbigler1986: that's a good deal
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:55 AM - Mike Kelly: do you know the overall length of them?

Apr 23, 2015 at 11:56 AM - Joey: I saw the KUSI thing, it looked like a good setup
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:56 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: length is going to be the same as the current rods
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: its going well, were still trying to figure out the best work flow because we just opened it up but people are enjoying it!
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: haha yea that was pretty cool
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:58 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: the room is sweet we have 24 printers in there ready to go
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:58 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: 325mm is the length of the lead screw
Apr 23, 2015 at 11:59 AM - Coby RoBo 3D: hey guys i gotta get going in a couple ill try to be back on here more often

Apr 23, 2015 at 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: what size is the current one
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:05 PM - donhuevo: 40mm
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:07 PM - donhuevo: 40 is what I took off. I can't remember if the original was also 40. Better measure
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: do you know what dBA it was or the one you installed
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:10 PM - donhuevo: I don't
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: well what good are you

Apr 23, 2015 at 12:24 PM - FlyMario: what printer program do you use? Slicer that is. I use simplify3d
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: s3d
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: and cura

Apr 23, 2015 at 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: s3d when i have more than 1 part and need support. cura when i only have 1 part and it doesn't need support
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: don't use either to control the printer though
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: @MK Matt does have those screws
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: nice

    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:30 PM - FlyMario: s3d mean simplify3d or slicer 3d?
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: simplify
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:31 PM - jbigler1986: jk Mike
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:31 PM - FlyMario: I love the supports that simplify makes for sure

Apr 23, 2015 at 12:35 PM - FlyMario: He gets an A for that? Wow!
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:39 PM - jbigler1986: that's right
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:44 PM - jbigler1986: i do what i can around here
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:44 PM - Mike Kelly: jb's full of stories about over paying for screws
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:45 PM - FlyMario: should just get a wife
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: i have one
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: have had one for 8 years
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:46 PM - FlyMario: any kids?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:46 PM - jbigler1986: 2
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:47 PM - FlyMario: I been married 30 years and no kids
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:47 PM - jbigler1986: missing out
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:48 PM - FlyMario: Once yours gets older you can put them to work in your 3D printing sweat shop
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:49 PM - FlyMario: Man I can only imagine how bored the people who are selling 3D printed parts on EBAY must be.
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: just looking for more revenue streams
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:51 PM - FlyMario: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Reprap-Prus...888?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35d5ae9fe0 like that... $29.99 seems like not enough to print that out
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM - Mike Kelly: eh if you've got a reliable enough printer that's only 2 jobs
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: also 1kg of filament can print a lot more than you think
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM - FlyMario: I guess so Mike. If you are not gonna use it for anything else at least you can make some money.
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:53 PM - FlyMario: I am nearly done with my first roll of ABS lol.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:53 PM - FlyMario: 2.2lbs
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: what is this standard measurement? :)
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:54 PM - FlyMario: Been experimenting a lot though. I am having problems keeping things flat. Like printing a light switch cover.
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:54 PM - FlyMario: will curl up
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:54 PM - jbigler1986: that's abs for ya without an enclosure
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:54 PM - jbigler1986: warping
    Apr 23, 2015 at 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: use PLA
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:55 PM - FlyMario: I made an enclosure last night and gonna try tonight. I sued that corrigated plastic board stuff
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: even something as simple as a cardboard box will help
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: MK i gotta tweak your hex dual fan
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:57 PM - FlyMario: yeah basically thats what I made with that ( http://www.homedepot.com/p/COROSPLA...-in-Twinwall-Plastic-Sheet-COR-3672/202771364)
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:57 PM - FlyMario: a box. Gonna face my heat lamp into it
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - FlyMario: hope I don't over heat the arduino. Though that doesn't seem likely
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: have you printed feet for it yet?
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - FlyMario: Oh yeah.
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - FlyMario: Cause I put the lcd on it
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: tweak it how?
Apr 23, 2015 at 12:59 PM - FlyMario: JB though isn't pla just a lot of trouble? Seems people want you to lubricate it.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:01 PM - jbigler1986: i'm using the e3d fan which is larger
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:01 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA jams more, has a lower glass transition temperature, and is more difficult to get a good first layer, but it's stronger and warps less
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: also want to make a shroud or deflector for it
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: oh cause you're using the hexagon sink?
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:03 PM - FlyMario: nobody sticks painters tape on that pretty glass do they?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: yeah mk
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM - donhuevo: I'm agreeing to disagree on the PLA statement
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: some do Fly. Most just use hairspray
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: painters tape works much nicer for PLA than anything else from my experience
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: what part to you disagree on don? the first layer?
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:04 PM - FlyMario: Ahh. I use the glue sticks. But painters tape on the glass would seem unforgivable. LOL
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - jbigler1986: I use hairspray with PLA. never have any issues with first layer unless there isn't much surface touching it. then i just use a brim
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - FlyMario: ahh might come off cleanly
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - donhuevo: first layer and easier jamming
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Stephen Capistron: I'm doing some 2d work for someone and this threaded hole populates with "20/128 - 32"
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:06 PM - Stephen Capistron: wtf

Apr 23, 2015 at 1:06 PM - FlyMario: wow wth
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:06 PM - donhuevo: wtfnh
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - FlyMario: send him a email... "r u fro realz"
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Stephen Capistron: It's a #8
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: most people have those experiences. i found PLA tended to curl up more on the nozzle if it wasn't perfect
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: ABS is more forgiving
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: and since it's a petroleum chemical it's more lubricating
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: so less need for seasoning
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:08 PM - FlyMario: Canola oil good for seasing PLA?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's fine
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:11 PM - jbigler1986: baby oil is best
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:14 PM - donhuevo: ABS is more for giving you fits of anger and a want to throw shit across the room
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:14 PM - jbigler1986: ^
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: i hate it
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: i dunno i had plenty of fits of anger when my prints jammed or i couldn't get a first layer after 10 tries
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: each has their pros and cons :)
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: never had jams with abs but warping, breaks easily
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i haven't had a single warp since the printinz plate
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: that thing is magic
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:17 PM - jbigler1986: it's like damn glue
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: na ABS slurry is like glue
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:20 PM - jbigler1986: hard to print good parts when you break them removing them :p
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:21 PM - Mike Kelly: that's the only part i've ever broken getting off
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:21 PM - jbigler1986: i won't tell if you don't tell
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't think that means what you think it means
    Apr 23, 2015 at 1:23 PM - jbigler1986: huh
Apr 23, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Mike Kelly: princess bride?
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:08 PM - FlyMario: lol princess bride... lots of nice one liners from that
    Apr 23, 2015 at 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a classic
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:11 PM - FlyMario: do you know if you save the gcode to a disk for sticking in the LCD if that sets the temperature or you need to control the temp from the panel?
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:11 PM - donhuevo: ah, I've been mostly dead all day
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:13 PM - FlyMario: what do you have to live for Donhuevo?
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:13 PM - FlyMario: True love?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 2:13 PM - donhuevo: wuv...
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:13 PM - donhuevo: twue wuv
    Apr 23, 2015 at 2:19 PM - Mike Glass: Howdy ho's
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:19 PM - FlyMario: I hope printed solid has a good time at his art show
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:53 PM - jbigler1986: Nice to see you MG
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: i forget is it bad to under power speakers
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:55 PM - Mike Kelly: these speakers are 100W nominal but i have an 80W receiver, should be ok right?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 2:57 PM - jbigler1986: wont hurt anything4
Apr 23, 2015 at 2:58 PM - Bill Monroe: back
    Apr 23, 2015 at 2:58 PM - Mike Kelly: ok that's what i thought
Apr 23, 2015 at 3:05 PM - Bradf80: Any idea what the outline for a part doesn't match the part? or just another MC bug? lol
    Apr 23, 2015 at 3:09 PM - jbigler1986: probably
Apr 23, 2015 at 3:10 PM - Bradf80: It did the outline then started printing the part over a section of the outline. Exported to SD card.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 3:15 PM - jbigler1986: pressing bearings atm
Apr 23, 2015 at 3:44 PM - jbigler1986: these bearings are a little louder. no marks on the rails though. so shoul i be good?
Apr 23, 2015 at 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: don't think that's a big deal if it moves smoothly
    Apr 23, 2015 at 4:04 PM - jbigler1986: i didn't use them. didn't move as smooth as stock
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: What's going on
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:05 PM - Stephen Capistron: loading up some PETG
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:09 PM - jbigler1986: Jeff where are you
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:22 PM - jbigler1986: What r u printing with that
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:36 PM - dbvanhorn: how could it hurt to "under power" speakers? There is a volume control after all. <100% is bad?
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:36 PM - dbvanhorn: Phoo.. My printbed is chipped. One of the recent prints pulled out a small divot.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:40 PM - jbigler1986: How do you guys pull that off? I scrape my bed, pull off parts still warm. Have yet to do that
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:44 PM - dbvanhorn: Dunno.. I've been letting them pop loose. this happened in the last 24 hours, small thin parts.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:50 PM - Stephen Capistron: any idea why a print wouldn't even kick off in cura when everything is pre-heated? The temp of the hot end instantly starts to drop.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:50 PM - dbvanhorn: What temp are you trying to get to?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 5:51 PM - Stephen Capistron: 240
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:52 PM - dbvanhorn: I think you may have hit the top limit. There's a safety feature that shuts off the extruder if it gets too hot.
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:52 PM - dbvanhorn: I think the number is at there or close. Try 235
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:53 PM - Stephen Capistron: i could have sworn that was 245
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:54 PM - dbvanhorn: Might be.. The other thing that would get you is tripping the polyswitches, but that should keep you shut down till they cool, which can take a while. (many seconds to minutes)
Apr 23, 2015 at 5:56 PM - Stephen Capistron: yeah. right now i'm doing the old turn it off, eat dinner, and see if that helps
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:01 PM - dbvanhorn: I just noticed something that I've been looking past for weeks.. My printer does the 9 point level routine, but the pattern is not centered on the hot area. It's about 1 inch off past the back end of the outlined area.
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:02 PM - dbvanhorn: Should I try to adjust?
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:19 PM - jbigler1986: Ignore the markings on the bed. They are not correct
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:25 PM - dbvanhorn: cool, thanks.
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: Man I pulled a good one. Forgot to change the base temperature in Cura to what I wanted to print at. SO I was pre-heating some 40 degrees hotter than it thought it was supposed to be so the temp fell like a stone. wooops
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:46 PM - dbvanhorn: Good news! At least nothing's broken
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:50 PM - Stephen Capistron: except my ego
    Apr 23, 2015 at 6:52 PM - jbigler1986: I have done worse
    Apr 23, 2015 at 6:53 PM - jbigler1986: Set my extruder multiplier to 100 instead of 1
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:53 PM - jbigler1986: Took me 2 hours of troubleshooting until I realized it
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:23 PM - Bill Monroe: wow, what a day
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:24 PM - TechSupportGo: hello
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: hi
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:25 PM - TechSupportGo: what happened
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:26 PM - Bill Monroe: a few guys I went to school with are on day one of a guy's 4-day weekend
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:27 PM - Bill Monroe: we went to see Jeff Lynne get a star on the walk of fame in Hollywood. Tom Petty and Joe Walsh were there too
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:28 PM - TechSupportGo: cool
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:28 PM - Bill Monroe: very cool
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:28 PM - Bill Monroe: surprisingly small crowd.. made it so we could get real close
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:29 PM - jbigler1986: awesome
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: some cop retired too, they did a thing for him before the big event
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: bill question for ya
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: Jeff Lynne looks half his age
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, jb?
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:31 PM - jbigler1986: puzzle cut in SW. how to do like you did
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:31 PM - jbigler1986: except i need to make the tolerance
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:31 PM - Bill Monroe: easy
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:31 PM - jbigler1986: i have it up and ready
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:31 PM - Bill Monroe: draw the line where you want to cut.. I used circle and joined them
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - jbigler1986: ok
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Bill Monroe: then make a box using the line as one side.. make it bigger than your print and all the way to one end
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:33 PM - Bill Monroe: xtrude - cut - through all
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:33 PM - jbigler1986: alright

Apr 23, 2015 at 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: alright now.. save as, and give it a new name
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:36 PM - Bill Monroe: hello?
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:36 PM - jbigler1986: k
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:36 PM - jbigler1986: sorry
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:36 PM - Bill Monroe: ok right-click on the sketch in the feature tree and open it again
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:37 PM - jbigler1986: k
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:38 PM - Bill Monroe: leave the cut line alone, but make the box go to the other side.. if you didnt dimension it, you can usually just drag the outside line to the other side
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:40 PM - jbigler1986: ok
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:40 PM - Bill Monroe: ok, are you using the command center for getting the icons?
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:42 PM - Bill Monroe: earth to jb
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:42 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. in the top bar you'll see one called "Offset Entities"
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM - jbigler1986: see it
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:43 PM - Bill Monroe: select that , them click on your parting line
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:44 PM - Bill Monroe: a yellow line will pop up and show you a line that's offset by whatever you default is.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:45 PM - jbigler1986: got it
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:45 PM - Bill Monroe: you might have to select all the line segments in your parting line to get the whole thing
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:45 PM - Bill Monroe: in the parameters window on the left, enter the amount you want to have for a gap.. I think you said .5mm
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:46 PM - jbigler1986: that'swhat it was before
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:46 PM - Bill Monroe: that was your default?
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:47 PM - jbigler1986: no that was MK suggestion
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:47 PM - Bill Monroe: ah so you got that now?
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:47 PM - Bill Monroe: seems kinda big but OK
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:48 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:48 PM - Bill Monroe: alright,is the yellow line on the correct side of your parting line?
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:49 PM - jbigler1986: one sec. SW is frozen. crap laptop
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:49 PM - Bill Monroe: DOH
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Bill Monroe: SW diesnt like laptops unless you spend a lot of time stripping out stuff
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:50 PM - Bill Monroe: it needs lots of power, expecially in the video area
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:51 PM - jbigler1986: question though. couldn't i just draw a sketch and draw a line with arcs in the middle then cut extrude thin it?
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:52 PM - Bill Monroe: anyway, I think you get the idea.. make sure to hit the greean arrow to accept it, then use the trim entities to get rid of the old parting line and the little stubs at either end
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:52 PM - Bill Monroe: it depends on what you're trying to make.. if the result it what you want then yes, you can do that
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:53 PM - Bill Monroe: this is how I add puzzle cuts to existing models
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:53 PM - jbigler1986: ahhh. had to close it. ugh
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:53 PM - Bill Monroe: ok well you got the gist
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:53 PM - Bill Monroe: play with it
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:54 PM - jbigler1986: let me try it this way and see how it turns out
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:54 PM - Bill Monroe: K.. I'm in vegas now, we're shooting machine guns and playing with real tractors tomorrow.. I gotta meet them at a BJ table
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:54 PM - jbigler1986: i will post the file for you to check out in a sec
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - jbigler1986: lucky you
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm gunna be logging off in a sec
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Bill Monroe: it'
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Bill Monroe: its vegas.. all ya gotta do is flash some plastic and you can do ANYTHING
    Apr 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
Apr 23, 2015 at 7:55 PM - Bill Monroe: take care.. I'd wish you luck but you dont need it.. you have knowledge...

Apr 23, 2015 at 8:06 PM - Mike Glass: what tolerance did you put between the puzzle pieces
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:06 PM - jbigler1986: .3
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:07 PM - Mike Glass: hmm think that is enough?
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:08 PM - jbigler1986: i think it was .5 for the tool holder we did and it had a little to much space
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:08 PM - jbigler1986: yeah my negative tolerance is dialed in
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:08 PM - Mike Glass: yea cant remember what Mike told me, or maybe it was him that told us .5
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:09 PM - jbigler1986: he said .5
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:09 PM - jbigler1986: i had to use a ton of glue last time because there was to much of a gap
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:10 PM - Mike Glass: Mine is finally printing pla again.
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:10 PM - jbigler1986: dual fan holder screwed you up
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:10 PM - Mike Glass: made a pen plotter for the robo, now just designing a mount for it.
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:11 PM - jbigler1986: i pressed bearings into a carriage i printed but it wasn't very smooth so i didn't install it
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: lol, why do you need the names of the tools..
    Apr 23, 2015 at 8:13 PM - jbigler1986: i don't. just like it
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:15 PM - jbigler1986: matt is sending me a bunch of stuff tomorrow so i can go back to full e3d

Apr 23, 2015 at 8:20 PM - jbigler1986: Ready to go back to the clean look of the dual fan holder. Still need to make some kind of shroud though
Apr 23, 2015 at 8:22 PM - Mike Glass: I love the looks of mine but still dont get great cooling

    Apr 23, 2015 10:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Omg guys
Apr 23, 2015 10:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am finally back in business!
    Apr 23, 2015 11:03 PM - insomniac_lemon: Too late for anyone on :(
Apr 23, 2015 11:04 PM - insomniac_lemon: But I'm re-printing my extruder holder with all of the things I pondered doing to stop warp (lower offset, slower, sugar+citric slurry, slight bed heat)
Apr 23, 2015 11:05 PM - insomniac_lemon: And wow, I made the slurry with really hot water, tons of sugar, and 1/2 to 1/3 citric acid from sugar usage, and it tastes GOOD
Apr 23, 2015 11:05 PM - insomniac_lemon: Tastes like the spray candy I used to get from Family Video..... or liquid swedish fish
Apr 23, 2015 11:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Anyone got a good fan mount for the Robo?
Apr 23, 2015 11:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: With the stock fan?
Apr 23, 2015 11:36 PM - insomniac_lemon: Is the "Members in Chat" box not working? I'm in the shoutbox and it's not even showing me.....
Apr 24, 2015 12:28 AM - dbvanhorn: where can I find out how to print from the SD card?
    Apr 24, 2015 4:51 AM - jbigler1986: morning
    Apr 24, 2015 4:55 AM - Bill Monroe: howdy
Apr 24, 2015 4:56 AM - jbigler1986: got one half almost done printing
    Apr 24, 2015 4:56 AM - Bill Monroe: sweet!
Apr 24, 2015 4:57 AM - jbigler1986: cross my fingers that i did it right. lol
Apr 24, 2015 4:58 AM - Bill Monroe: damn.. the isrealis are weapons geniuses
Apr 24, 2015 4:58 AM - Bill Monroe: these guys built a huge RC model of the SR71
Apr 24, 2015 4:59 AM - Bill Monroe: but we all KNOW it's just a UAV in disguise
    Apr 24, 2015 4:59 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Apr 24, 2015 4:59 AM - Bill Monroe: Host Iran, we're just hobbiests...
    Apr 24, 2015 5:00 AM - jbigler1986: it's actually a nuclear weapon
Apr 24, 2015 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe: seriously though, these guys did a REAL nice job...
    Apr 24, 2015 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Apr 24, 2015 5:03 AM - jbigler1986: that's badass
Apr 24, 2015 5:03 AM - jbigler1986: the guy contolling it is awesome
Apr 24, 2015 5:03 AM - Bill Monroe: yes, but the plane has a lot to do withit..
Apr 24, 2015 5:04 AM - Bill Monroe: very stable model... nice
Apr 24, 2015 5:04 AM - jbigler1986: a little bit bigger and you get get someone in it
Apr 24, 2015 5:06 AM - Bill Monroe: those engines are like.. 6K each
Apr 24, 2015 5:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: but does it leak fuel like the real thing?
Apr 24, 2015 5:06 AM - jbigler1986: what is the bed that MK uses
    Apr 24, 2015 5:06 AM - Bill Monroe: nails?
    Apr 24, 2015 5:06 AM - jbigler1986: printinz?
Apr 24, 2015 5:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: printinz is right
    Apr 24, 2015 5:08 AM - jbigler1986: 8 x 10 for the robo?
Apr 24, 2015 5:09 AM - Stephen Capistron: as close as you are going to get from them, unless you ask for one that is the right size
    Apr 24, 2015 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: probably cost even more
Apr 24, 2015 5:13 AM - jbigler1986: wonder how well it works with abs. mine warps like crazy
Apr 24, 2015 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: they have some cheap filament. wonder if it's any good. $19/1kg
Apr 24, 2015 5:17 AM - Stephen Capistron: Do you have an enclosure?
    Apr 24, 2015 5:18 AM - jbigler1986: nope. need to make one
Apr 24, 2015 5:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: I'd go that route first.
    Apr 24, 2015 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: absolutely
Apr 24, 2015 5:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: Even if you have a large item stick with ABS as you get farther from the build plate the stresses will still build up like crazy in the part
Apr 24, 2015 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: ive got a 12 year old stratasys machine that still makes PERFECT ABS prints
Apr 24, 2015 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: all ya gotta do is what they did
Apr 24, 2015 5:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: and potentially cause it to delaminate somewhere
Apr 24, 2015 5:21 AM - jbigler1986: i may just end up trashing these 2 spools of abs. i hate it
Apr 24, 2015 5:21 AM - Stephen Capistron: send it to mike
    Apr 24, 2015 5:22 AM - jbigler1986: not a bad idea
Apr 24, 2015 5:24 AM - jbigler1986: maybe he can send me one of these in return http://www.filastruder.com/collecti...essories/products/groove-mount-bowden-adaptor
Apr 24, 2015 5:24 AM - Stephen Capistron: With a note. "Happy belated birthday. Enjoy using these with your tiko."
    Apr 24, 2015 5:24 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Apr 24, 2015 5:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: I gather a printed version with just a PTC fitting in it is not strong enough?
Apr 24, 2015 5:26 AM - jbigler1986: i printed one and i think it caused a lot of my issues i had with bowden
Apr 24, 2015 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: my duals use an ordinary PTC.. no issues
    Apr 24, 2015 5:32 AM - jbigler1986: prove it :p
    Apr 24, 2015 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: heh why? :)
Apr 24, 2015 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: i had some trouble with the tube pushing out for a bit, turned out it was the really cheapo fiting provided with the Chimera and some lousy amazon tubing
    Apr 24, 2015 5:34 AM - jbigler1986: nice
    Apr 24, 2015 5:35 AM - jbigler1986: not surprining
    Apr 24, 2015 5:35 AM - jbigler1986: uhhh surprising
Apr 24, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: i got a nice brass fitting and decent tube.. done.
Apr 24, 2015 5:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: was your PTC part printed too? I'm saying just print the metal part and put one of these in it
    Apr 24, 2015 5:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.mcmaster.com/#push-to-connect-tube-fittings/=ww2o4h
    Apr 24, 2015 5:37 AM - jbigler1986: i probably wouldn't attempt it again with greg's
Apr 24, 2015 5:37 AM - jbigler1986: yeah my whole adapter was printed
Apr 24, 2015 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: its best to get one you can drill out to 4 mm so you can push the tube all the way to the hobb
Apr 24, 2015 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: commerical ones for 4mm are only 2mm past the collet
    Apr 24, 2015 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.amazon.com/Pneumatic-Qui...F8&qid=1429879174&sr=8-3&keywords=4mm+fitting
    Apr 24, 2015 5:42 AM - jbigler1986: what extruder are you using
    Apr 24, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: one I designed
Apr 24, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: it's not better that anything else out there.. I just wanted to do it and I lik the steampunk vibe it has
    Apr 24, 2015 5:42 AM - jbigler1986: i do have nema 17's
Apr 24, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: i has thinking about redoing it in bronzefill to really get the look going
Apr 24, 2015 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: how much effort would be needed make one using a nema 17
Apr 24, 2015 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: there's lots of them out there.. 17 is typical
Apr 24, 2015 5:45 AM - jbigler1986: probably using the stock one would be easiest since it's wired already
Apr 24, 2015 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: just print on like that filajoker unit and put in a threaded PTC.. done.
Apr 24, 2015 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: fire up those solidworks skills
    Apr 24, 2015 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: i wouldn't call them skills
    Apr 24, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: heck ya! you're practically a pro
    Apr 24, 2015 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: haha
    Apr 24, 2015 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: i have only made things with 90 degree angles.
Apr 24, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: you could make the adapter with 90 degree angles
    Apr 24, 2015 5:56 AM - jbigler1986: i'm sure i could. just saying i'm still like a newborn baby
Apr 24, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: give yourself some credit
    Apr 24, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: at least a 2 year old
    Apr 24, 2015 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: 1 1/2

    Apr 24, 2015 5:58 AM - Stephen Capistron: volcano + lightning
    Apr 24, 2015 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: that is awesome
    Apr 24, 2015 5:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: terrifying
    Apr 24, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: awesome
Apr 24, 2015 5:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: if you can see that in person, you are too close
    Apr 24, 2015 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: did the devil just arrive
Apr 24, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: that's what my kitchen looked like when my ex discovered someone ate the last twinkie
Apr 24, 2015 6:01 AM - Stephen Capistron: Bill, you mention her a lot. Do you miss her?
    Apr 24, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: ya
Apr 24, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: but I'm working on my aim

Apr 24, 2015 7:09 AM - Bill Monroe: it'll export it.. there's no reason to use mattercrap
Apr 24, 2015 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: i suggest repetier to control it and start the print
Apr 24, 2015 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: wait. just save the gcode to sd card

Apr 24, 2015 7:17 AM - JeffTheMess: when i got the robo i NEVER worked on 3d printers, and found it useful, but now its a drag for me
    Apr 24, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: I tired the mall, I use S3D
