For me the main selling point for Robo3D was that SketchUp featured in the demo movie. Are there SketchUp plugins, or techniques, that I can check into while waiting for my printer?

It's four months before my printer is due to be sent to me, so no real hurry!

    Hi Harry,

I'm a Top Contributor in the SketchUp forums, and I've been a reviewer on a couple of Packt Publishing SketchUp books. So, I have a general sense of what SketchUp is good for!

My question was more about Robo3D printer, and how were you using SketchUp in the demo video you made?

    Thanks,

    Colin.

looks like they were using sketch-up to help design the machine.

Doesn't look like there's anything special related to the robo3d printer. What type of plugins are you referring to.

I think they were just saying that RoBo customers could use free programs like sketchup to design stuff to print.

Of the plugins featured on that page, CADspan is the most relevant, in that it does things to your model so that it exports as STL better. But, to get the full features you end up paying a monthly $40 fee.

It would be quite a big deal if you could go straight from SketchUp to a 3D printer. There seem to be so many clean up steps, involving a few apps, to get a good print (for other 3D printers anyway).

So, back to part of my question, what is the work flow for modeling and printing to Robo3D?

like I said before there isnt anything special in terms of workflow as you say, it uses any or all open source software available via the internet. what you use to model your 3d part is your choice.
