I tried something new today. Right after vapor polishing, when the part was still 'wet' I sprinkled glitter on it. Pretty cool effect.
Not sure if this is worth much of anything unless you are trying to impress a little girl, but my 3yo loved it!

You can't really tell from the picture, but there is a clear coating over many of the sprinkles.

    Here's a pic:

Oh, that is fantastic. I was planning on making myself a tiara... Now I'm gonna make a GLITTERY one!

Yes, I have the aesthetic sense of a 3 year old girl, don't judge me.

And my crimes against fashion continue to compound. If it makes it any better, my daughter is almost 4, so you have the aesthetic sense of an almost 4 year old. :)

I did another one last night. Sparkles were quite a bit more dense.
Next one I try, I am going to vapor polish, let dry for a few seconds, shake around in a bag of sparkles, then vapor polish again. I'm thinking that will probably work really well, for models with low detail or coarse detail. I generally avoid vapor polishing for anything with really fine detail anyways.

    Model is:

    Only the model name doesn't fit any more he's not creepy. He's S P A R K L E Y ! ! !

Could you describe how you actually perform the vapor polishing. (Times, how everything is laid out, temps, etc)

I actually more or less follow the method from the solidoodle forum.

Safety: long heavy gage solvent gloves, breathing mask, safety glasses (probably should be goggles). Done outside.

-I use the presto cooker as-is (i.e. no kapton tape)
-Fill it up with enough acetone to be slightly below the bottom of the basket (maybe 1/8"? never measured it)
-Put the part in place in the basket. If I have enough room, I put a few little spacer pieces underneath the model (whatever metal chunks happen to be laying around) just to get it a little further from the acetone.
-I set a flashlight right on top of the lid facing in so I can get a really good view of what is happening.
-turn the heat up so the acetone boils quickly.
-once the acetone hits the top of my part, I turn everything off and pull the basket out.
-replace the basket quickly to avoid losing too much acetone.
-Wait 30 seconds or so to let the surface of the part firm up.
-Pull the part out of the basket and sit on a clean surface in a ventilated location ovenite.
