I busted and replaced the thermister in a stock Hexagon hotend in the Robo 3D R1 Plus.
Now when I start up the temp (in Matter Control) shows 230C upon start up and the head is stone cold.
Bed heats up but also shows higher than room temp at start up.

    Any suggestions?

MAX TEMP is usually a short in the thermistor wiring, this is not max temp, but a lot higher than room temp -- I presume :)

Make sure the wires are solidly connected and nothing is shorted to say,the heater block.

All connections are good. I've been VERY careful.
On a whim I unplugged the thermister and still get the same temp.

In fact, with the printer powered off I get the same high temp indicated.
I just now set the temp to 238C to see if it would get hot and yup, it's getting got and indicating a hotter temp.
Is there a command to reset the indicated temp in Matter Control maybe?

I turned off the heater and it cools down to 231c and fluctuates only a few decimal points and is stone cold room temp.
Seems like the baseline where it starts needs to be reset but I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I have no hints for MC. Try something else (software) to isolate it to hardware or software.

No problem please let me know if you need help. I haven't used it in over 6 months but I'd be happy to try

I have difficulty seeing that as software problems, but matter control just might be that good. Let's hope it is software otherwise things get ugly.

Hoping it's not a bad thermister but it's possible I guess. Took 3 days to get one sent to me and I'm on vacation and was really hoping to spend some good times with the new printer while on vacation... best layed plans... LOL.

here's to hoping. Matter control is pretty awesome at being terrible in my opinion but I don't think they are this bad. Excited to see what you come up with.

New info; I figured if 231c was showing at room temp then why not add 210 to it for 440C and see what happens.
It triggered a MAXTEMP error at 300c and shut off.

I then set temp to 245 and it took it to that number just fine. Wish I had one of those laser temperature gauges about now.

300 ish is the limit for our printers and dangerous that hot :). You can do it like me since I can never find one. Heat it to normal temp and turn the gear to see if it works and extrudes. Don't force it if it doesn't go easy it won't extrude.
