To clean up a print. This is a pla print and getting in the small areas is a pain.

The top picture is the "bottom side" that needs more cleaning.

Try printing it in its side. Use Cura and use the option Touching build plate.

You can use any software you want but try printing it in its side and you'll be surprised how good it comes out.

My concern is the support that will get put in on both sides if I print on its edge. Instead of the one side when flat.

If the first pic is where the supports attached that looks like poorly done supports.
You should not be able to see (or not hardly) where they were at.

That's what I thought. Guess I need to tinker with the support settings.

Probably need dissolvable support for a 2 sided print like that.

How would that work with a single nozzle?

If you do get it working, post your settings or profiles.
I long ago gave up and switched to Simplify, but it you can sort out a way to get workable supports it will help others :)

You can't. But to get the same precision front and back you need a support material.

I assume that same process applies to a non bowden setup? Only reason I ask is because some materials, like flex, don't work so well with the bowden. Or so I have read.

Well flex materials don't work great in bowden, but they do work. Direct feed is better in that application.

I'm finishing up my new design for the E3D v6, which will allow for more build volume, and be easier to swap in different nozzle arrangements. So if you want to do flex materials with

Though I'm not totally sure about how feasible dual direct feed extruders would be. I'm thinking it's best to do a single direct feed with a bowden secondary.

The super easy alternative is to split it in half. Both halves would have flat bottoms and then glue together. No cleanup required. Could even draw a tiny notch on the sides so you can align then perfectly if it's critical.

Thought I replied earlier. If it comes down to that then that is what I will have to figure out. All I have right now is MC and cura (which I haven't messed with) I don't know if I can edit in those beyond copy, scale etc.

If you download the FREE version of netfabb, it has the easiest CUT and Mirroring options that I have seen. Super easy and fast. It can also repair some mesh issues which has come in handy for me at least. The paid version looks nice but it's not in my budget yet. It also lets you import and export many formats and scale them also. It's worth the download even though it's very limited / basic in the free version.
