    1 cup ABS
    1 tablespoon color

If I ha it to do again I would do a rounded scoop of color.

I made this box for my daughter with it.

"A heaping, heaped, or rounded spoonful includes a heap above the spoon, and is roughly twice as much as a level tablespoonful"

He's saying he would have used a bit more colorant.

Oh thanks Tim! I can't wait to buy some of that stuff Nylon stuff. Question, do you want me to make a dedicated Filastruder section on this forum? Others have asked for it.

I wouldn't mind, though I primarily hang out on Soliforum.

PS Time, we have a decent/large amount of RoBo 3Ders who have a filastruder, or are getting one.

*harry Yeah! Thanks for fixing my account!

Me! I've got a beta filastruder (Thanks Tim). May delivery of Robo 3D.

My Beta has the old motor. What kind of auger RPMs are the latest KS motors running at?

*JDM_ -sweet "Red Filastruder filament on a spool made from Filastruder filament."

    Good filament tolerances?

New motors are 80-100% faster than beta motors.

im sorry but why is the filastruder good. i mean i know it is for recycling but you guys are buying choped up plastic all ready.

is there a fillarstuder out there that shreads old prints into the pieces and then turn them into the spool again?

The benefit is much cheaper (like 80% cheaper) filament, on demand, with custom colors.

You can purchase shredders, but they would have a much longer return on investment since raw plastic pellets are so cheap.

You can make your own filament for cheaper then buying it already made, Recycling plastics ends up degrading it eventually and will effect prints.

Other issue with recycling is the plastics start to pick up contaminants. Dirt, embedded grit, peanut butter, bubble gum all need to be removed with a cleaning step before shredding. The particle filter on the filastruder will help for the big stuff. Also you'd need to recycle a kilogram of old prints to make a kilogram of filament. Not like you can just take that last print that didn't work out and put it back in the hopper and immediately recycle it. Flip side is maybe you make Grade B filament from recycled plastic for prints that don't have to be perfect. How about mixing a bunch of recycled colors together to create new exciting shades of brown? But really at the end of the day, fresh pellets are pretty cheap. Buy 50 kilo bags at a time. Seriously, maybe we SHOULD start putting recycle logos on our prints so they can find new life via curb side recycling.

I have some new materials that I've got available for beta testing. If you've had some success with PLA, send me a PM or a contact through my site.

I got one last week. I dont like it. It was cool watching the filament go but it had TON of issues and still does.

    List of issues i have/had
#1 No instructions came to assemble the unit. Have to do online research
#2 No (basic) tools required to assemble, such as an Allen wrench or a piece of to secure the termistor and no wires required for wiring the system.
#3 Printed hopper $10 value ? Why so much ? Anyway that was a mistake
#4 Design issues. Drill bit is not stabilized so it tumbles inside the tube creating flakes.
#5 Flakes in the filament jam your nozzle. Known issue fix is to BUY another nozzle with filter. Seriously ? Its not the filter, but the drill bit needs to be stabilized.
#6 The above WILL get your print ruined multiple times. 0.4mm nozzle is too sensitive to those metal flakes.
#7 PLA ? Forget about it. PLA is too uncontrolable for this machine to handles it without help. Help will cost you about $150 and i suggest you NOT buy filawinder but something else that stays close to the nozzle and has way to adjust how fast it pulls the filament (thus controlling the diameter)
#8 PowerSupply is cheap. Overheating because it cant handles the stress of the motor and the heater at the same time.
#9 Cost is mostly for design. Elements them selves are basic store items+some online shopping for temp controller and heater element.
#10 Its built on wood ? Am glad its not build on cardboard. Wooden boards cant handle the stress produced by the motor when it pushes the drill bit forward due to melting material resistance.
#11 Motor has no torque protection at all. If heater fails and plastic gets cold, motor will burn and its not cheap to get it replaced.

Here is a FAR BETTER design using FAR BETTER components and FAR BETTER price considering the ammount of features and need for absolutely NOTHING to extrude both PLA or ABS or what ever else.
