I have a general question about CAD/3D printing packages and the ability to add wood grain to the 3D print. I use AutoCAD 123D (because it is free) and MatterControl (again, because it is free). I see the ability to add wood grain texture in AutoCAD 123D, but that is a visual artifact and nothing more - i.e. the grain is not carried over to the .stl file or the print slicer. Does anybody have any suggestions as to a CAD package and/or technique that will easily put a wood grain texture into a model physically? Thanks for the help.

    Regards,
    Chuck

Not really, but I am not the model wiz.

However, if you use the wood filament it comes out looking very nice and in many cases you get the grain effect.
