    Hello Robo Community

I have been having a problem with x-axis shifting. Whenever I try and print a model that takes up most of the build plate on the x-axis, the entire print will shift over after about a centimeter, and will always shift right about half a centimeter. Any idea on how to fix this?

    Thanks!

If it is happening at the extremes of the axis it is probably something getting in the way and blocking travel.
    Visual check that out.

If that is NOT blockage then it is something on that axis slipping. You options for what is causing it to slip/skip are:
    1) loose belt.
    2) Loose drive cog for the belt (it is on the motor shaft and the set screw may be loose).
    3) Bad stepper or stepper driver.

Usually it is blockage if it is as you describe and if not blockage it is a belt skip. Both are easy to sort out.

    Thanks for the answer!
Not sure if this would change anything but at the start of my prints there is often a grinding noise whenever the bed leveling starts. Could this be part of the problem?

You need to figure out what is grinding. Belt skipping from being loose, timing pully slipping on motor, bearings siezing up needing lube etc. Which axis ?

This is happening on both the X and Y axis. Nothing jammed in the belt- it moves around just fine. Bed moves freely, what would be blocking this?

For the Y it is almost always the ribbon cable that brings control/power under the bed.
For the X -- there is not much that can block it. That would usually be a loose belt or drive cog.

Could it be anything besides this? I have repeatedly checked both and neither seem to be the problem. Could it be a code issue?
Another thing is that I only started having this problem when I did some maintenance on my printer- I had to replace the socket on the RAMPS board that the heated bed plugs into.

Only things involved are those I mentioned for mechanical and the RAMPS, stepper drivers and stepper motors for the electrical

I see no obvious way this could be firmware related or even really the slicer.

That is exactly what happens when the belt skips. Exactly.
