Completely ripped one section off and stuck it to the other. looked great until the Z decided it was lower than it was supposed to be and mashed everything...so I stopped the print. My switch might be going bad. Could that be causing all these problems? I don't know anymore.

    After Switch temporary fix:

Printed perfect until it had to start jumping from location to location. Still ripped off the one protrusion and put it on the other. I guess I am s.o.l. until I get the new switches in. I will try again.

That 2nd round was looking darn good, I have a few switches. Pm a mail to address and I'll ship you a switch if you want.

I printed the Deprime Test. Thanks for Geof my Z is stable on the first layer! It got to the top and it started creating craters in the print at all 4 locations where there should be height build up. My layer height is .28, infill 50%, overlap 0.18., it slows down if printing is faster than 40 seconds and can slow down to 10 mm/s. Just basic stuff. I hope this helps.

I just printed it again. This time when it got to the below. At the extruded sections it started printing way above the print for about 2 layers and then started smashing it. Ideas? 16129391_10210900108511485_1154158566_o.jpg

Ok so to sum up.... This is an r1 with leadscrew upgrade?

1.Did you install the r1+ firmware after the leadscrew install?(I'm assuming upgrade kit from robo?)
    2.Are you using pla?
    3.Oiler on the pla?
4.Fan running on the bottom right front corner at all times?

Not a matter control user but I wonder if it's a matter control issue ? Have you used a different slicer?

I thought I did. Mine isn't a plus version. I installed the lead screws and I thought I installed the firmware.

The lead screw upgrade from robo on a r1 makes it r1+ firmware otherwise your z steps will be wacky. I'd reflash with r1+ firmware (if it's the official kit) and test again :)

when you installed the leadscrew update you magically transformed your R1 into an R1+ so you need to use the R1+ firmware.

ok, not totally an R1+ but effectively an R1+ :) same firmware

OK...so I noticed something. It lifts between the extrusions but it doesn't always travel back down. This leaves it printing several layers higher than where it is supposed to be. Then at some point it realizes that it is too high and travels to the surface...if there is nothing to land on then it goes clear to the first solid layer and craters everything or rips it off and where ever it ripped off piece lands it sticks. Then it goes on it's merry way.

Try removing the z lift in your retraction settings. I think I'm following what your saying. Is it possible to get a video?
