    Jan 30, 2016 8:06 PM - NFOsec: moron.
    Jan 30, 2016 8:06 PM - NFOsec: MODERATOR!
    Jan 30, 2016 8:20 PM - Mike Glass: Boob
Jan 30, 2016 8:33 PM - BryZad: i need the weight of the batteries for the build
Jan 31, 2016 7:42 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Jan 31, 2016 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning Bill.
Jan 31, 2016 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: waldo... howzit?
Jan 31, 2016 8:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Not bad, quiet since the dog is gone. Just tweaking a few models to make them print better.
    Jan 31, 2016 8:00 AM - WheresWaldo: You?
Jan 31, 2016 8:01 AM - Bill Monroe: ok.. plans for the day changed as the weather moved in.. nice though, perfect rain
Jan 31, 2016 8:01 AM - WheresWaldo: We are experiencing a bit of a warm up. But other than grocery shopping with the wife, no other plans for today.
Jan 31, 2016 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: well make that grocery trip count
Jan 31, 2016 8:03 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep, I do that by staying quiet and not making any suggestions while my wife and I go up every aisle.
Jan 31, 2016 8:04 AM - Bill Monroe: that helps... I take mine to one of the boutique stores on the way
Jan 31, 2016 8:05 AM - Bill Monroe: world foods, trader joe's, sprouts...
Jan 31, 2016 8:05 AM - Bill Monroe: get something out of the mainstream and make something for her
Jan 31, 2016 8:06 AM - WheresWaldo: I wish that were the case here, but all of that is far away. We are in a very small suburb of Charlotte and it is 1 minute to Harris Teeter and like 40 minutes to the nearest Trader Joe's.
Jan 31, 2016 8:07 AM - WheresWaldo: But I will treat her to a pretzel or cookie
    Jan 31, 2016 8:07 AM - Bill Monroe: hmm that's a challenge :)
Jan 31, 2016 8:08 AM - WheresWaldo: Aside from that the only thing going on is trying to explain to an aquaintance in Hong Kong how to emboss an SVG in Fusion 360, which does not have an actual emboss command.
Jan 31, 2016 8:08 AM - Bill Monroe: for my wife.. it's the thought and effort.. add a glass of a nice wine and it's all good anything unusual she likes, good or bad it's all about the expereince
Jan 31, 2016 8:09 AM - WheresWaldo: I think that is the way for most caring women.
    Jan 31, 2016 8:09 AM - Bill Monroe: probably..
Jan 31, 2016 8:10 AM - Bill Monroe: I get a lot of milage out of that.. she'll tell her friends about it.. they get all wierd and jealous.. that makes her feel special too
Jan 31, 2016 8:11 AM - WheresWaldo: My wife does the same thing
    Jan 31, 2016 8:11 AM - Bill Monroe: hilarious huh? :)
Jan 31, 2016 8:12 AM - WheresWaldo: I find it odd at times the very little things that bring her joy. But it is better than the High Maintenance women I dated before finding her.
Jan 31, 2016 8:14 AM - Bill Monroe: i made shepard's pie last night.. only used chicken instead. Did it while she was in the bath.
Jan 31, 2016 8:14 AM - Bill Monroe: all leftovers
Jan 31, 2016 8:15 AM - Bill Monroe: poorfood but really delicious, especially when it's raining and there's a fire goin
Jan 31, 2016 8:15 AM - WheresWaldo: I make dinner almost every night. try to vary the menu a bit, but we are creatures of habit.
Jan 31, 2016 8:15 AM - Bill Monroe: add a glass of chardonnay... turn off the TV
Jan 31, 2016 8:16 AM - WheresWaldo: The biggest thing I am doing right now is to let her play Fallout 4 without watching her play. I tend to want to give less than helpful instructions. I still can't believe she plays video games at 55 y.o.
Jan 31, 2016 8:17 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, i kinda lost the vid game urge.. she never had it so it's all good
Jan 31, 2016 8:18 AM - Bill Monroe: i do like this one silly game called pocket tanks..
Jan 31, 2016 8:18 AM - WheresWaldo: What is odd about it, is that I spent my whole career in the tech field interfacing with engineers and then dumbing down all their information to present at the C-Level.
Jan 31, 2016 8:18 AM - Bill Monroe: but that's cuz I can play it with my grandkids on the iphones.. and they have a honest chance of winning
Jan 31, 2016 8:20 AM - WheresWaldo: I am more of a campaign type of player, not much online. Most of my online stuff was far in the past and current online are things like Words with Friends and puzzle type of stuff.
Jan 31, 2016 8:20 AM - Bill Monroe: i applied for a job at the home depot in Joshua Tree - equipment rental manager
Jan 31, 2016 8:21 AM - WheresWaldo: I was thinking about doing the same at our local Lowes. especially since they have a pilot program to print parts with 3d printers. That and my construction background should make it a good fit.
    Jan 31, 2016 8:21 AM - Bill Monroe: nice
Jan 31, 2016 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm a life-long engineer and aviation repair. they like the responsibilty and work ethic and ability to diganose malfunctions
Jan 31, 2016 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: dont have to do any serious repairs, and the kids in that department do all the cleaning of returns
Jan 31, 2016 8:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Construction was right out of HS and before the Tech stuff, Started out as a plasterers apprentice then moved on to working with my dad building pole barns in Oregon, tract houses in Sacramento then finally custom homes back in Eugene.
Jan 31, 2016 8:23 AM - Bill Monroe: this branch as serious construction equipment.. smaller stuff home guys would use
    Jan 31, 2016 8:23 AM - Bill Monroe: and I would get a discount :)
Jan 31, 2016 8:25 AM - WheresWaldo: I always loved playing with power tools. Still have a lot of them in my garage, but I have dabbled into a lot of stuff, even built golf clubs for a while.
Jan 31, 2016 8:26 AM - WheresWaldo: So basically I am a Tech guy who understands all the engineering and appreciates the physical process of building something. Even though I don't know the math I still understand it.
Jan 31, 2016 8:26 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. should be just fine.
Jan 31, 2016 8:27 AM - Bill Monroe: i went in to the rental area last time I was up there to check it out and chat with the store manager.. super guy, even remembered seeing my plane leaving the airport, which is right acoss the road
Jan 31, 2016 8:28 AM - Bill Monroe: my plane is all red, unusual for planes so it gets noticed
Jan 31, 2016 8:28 AM - WheresWaldo: If he knows anything about plane ownership then he will be aware of your attention to detail.
Jan 31, 2016 8:29 AM - Bill Monroe: he had to step away for a moment and right then a guy walked in looking for something, asked me as if I workd there
    Jan 31, 2016 8:29 AM - Bill Monroe: so, I helped him
Jan 31, 2016 8:30 AM - Bill Monroe: he saw that.. boom, unintentional positive impression
Jan 31, 2016 8:30 AM - WheresWaldo: I have done the same thing on occasion. everywhere from Best Buy to Lowes.
Jan 31, 2016 8:30 AM - Bill Monroe: i like it.. i know how frustrating it is to have a question you cant get answered
Jan 31, 2016 8:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Well Bill, that was a pleasant exchange, thanks for that. I got to get going the wife is ready to go.
Jan 31, 2016 8:31 AM - Bill Monroe: have fun.. i'm going to go fire up the router
Jan 31, 2016 10:00 AM - jbigler1986: I need to fire up the printer. Haven't used it in like 2 weeks
    Jan 31, 2016 10:24 AM - BryZad: Morning all
Jan 31, 2016 11:02 AM - Bill Monroe: hello again
Jan 31, 2016 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: is it me your looking for
Jan 31, 2016 11:16 AM - Bill Monroe: I can see it in your eyes...
    Jan 31, 2016 11:18 AM - BryZad: Ha ha
Jan 31, 2016 11:18 AM - BryZad: Well have not had any print problems so having a good day
    Jan 31, 2016 11:19 AM - Bill Monroe: excllent
Jan 31, 2016 11:31 AM - JustinRF: Any advice> Just got ColorFabb shipped out for the robo. Any recommended settings (other than temp)?
Jan 31, 2016 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: Nobody is looking for you MG
    Jan 31, 2016 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: That would be scary
Jan 31, 2016 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: What kind of colorfabb is it?
    Jan 31, 2016 11:34 AM - JustinRF: XT Red
Jan 31, 2016 11:35 AM - JustinRF: I was going to order Ninja Flex but heard horror stories
Jan 31, 2016 12:20 PM - Mike Kelly: ninjaflex is cool
Jan 31, 2016 12:29 PM - Mike Glass: Hey do you coo loo
    Jan 31, 2016 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: ?
    Jan 31, 2016 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: MG got ghetto on us
Jan 31, 2016 12:53 PM - Bill Monroe: straight outta Compto.. errr Montana
Jan 31, 2016 1:38 PM - NFOsec: Montana... nothing ever comes out of Montana except big Buttes and Bears.
Jan 31, 2016 1:38 PM - NFOsec: MK: I enjoy the ninjaflex and semiflex ninjaflex. Did you start using it now?
    Jan 31, 2016 3:39 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG] shelf installed
    Jan 31, 2016 4:18 PM - Bill Monroe: nice
Jan 31, 2016 4:18 PM - Bill Monroe: I am *so* stealing that idea
Jan 31, 2016 4:32 PM - NFOsec: That is nice JB. Is this sort of a side facade or an actual bracket-based solution?
    Jan 31, 2016 4:43 PM - jbigler1986: It was an actual bracket
Jan 31, 2016 4:45 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG] here is the bracket I cut before I stained it
Jan 31, 2016 4:50 PM - jbigler1986: If I was going to have a ton of weight on the shelf I would have added another tree or something to it where the 90 degree is on the inside to brace it more. Still will hold a lot of weight as is though

Feb 1, 2016 5:46 AM - JeffTheMess: (plus the last idea I spilled out someone claimed it as thier own, left a sour taste in my mouth so I dont talk about it no more)

Feb 1, 2016 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm really tempted to get a PEI build plate
Feb 1, 2016 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: I still need to put mine on

Feb 1, 2016 8:39 AM - danzca6: are you looking for the BB or the Robo
    Feb 1, 2016 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: robo
Feb 1, 2016 8:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i haven't been liking the printinz plate
Feb 1, 2016 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: what thickness though you can get them in diffferent thicknesses.
    Feb 1, 2016 8:40 AM - danzca6: .03" http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CPRDDLY/ref=biss_dp_sa1

Feb 1, 2016 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: when my internet speeds drop below 2mbps... do nothing becuase you have no internet to tweet with
Feb 1, 2016 8:59 AM - daniel871: I'm cracking up over someone getting that mad at 50MB/s when my AT&T service claims 768k-3mb under ideal conditions.
    Feb 1, 2016 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: 150mb/s isn't exactly cheap though
Feb 1, 2016 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: And if I was paying for that and not even getting 50mb/s i'd be pissed too
Feb 1, 2016 9:04 AM - Mike Kelly: they also probably don't live in rural georgia :)
    Feb 1, 2016 9:08 AM - daniel871: True.
Feb 1, 2016 9:09 AM - daniel871: If I lived in DC like the guy that created that, though, I'd spend a lot more time at museums than I would browsing the internet.
Feb 1, 2016 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i suppose so but there's a finite number of museums
    Feb 1, 2016 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i just pulled 12MB/s at home...
    Feb 1, 2016 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: aka 120MBPS

Feb 1, 2016 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: wonder what the resolution was though
    Feb 1, 2016 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: .2

    Feb 1, 2016 10:41 AM - toymaker: our team is 2700ish
Feb 1, 2016 10:44 AM - danzca6: Anyone ever look into this company for either adding a laser to the Robo or the MPCNC? http://jtechphotonics.com/
Feb 1, 2016 10:47 AM - danzca6: 3.8W seems pretty light compared to what I see MG and NFO using
Feb 1, 2016 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's fine for engraving but even like 1/8" balsa takes 10-20 passes
Feb 1, 2016 10:50 AM - danzca6: got an unhealthy dose of laser envy this weekend. relative came over and had just bought the same laser that MG and NFO have. He brought some examples he did and it was so cool
Feb 1, 2016 10:50 AM - danzca6: the jtech looked like an affordable solution, but I know it wouldn't be nearly the same
Feb 1, 2016 10:51 AM - danzca6: and I would really like to do round objects and not just flat pieces
Feb 1, 2016 10:52 AM - danzca6: he actually got his free...some people have all the luck
Feb 1, 2016 11:02 AM - danzca6: hmmm, jtech says they can cut 1/8 balsa in 3 passes using their 1.7 W...not too bad I guess. Interesting option.
Feb 1, 2016 11:02 AM - danzca6: He invited me to his shop up north to check it out. That might losen by wallet the rest of the way to get the real thing
Feb 1, 2016 11:04 AM - danzca6: He owns a company that makes AR-308 and AR-15 rifles. Just going out on the range to fire those will make the trip worth it
Feb 1, 2016 11:09 AM - Mike Glass: I just built the MF and working on a clock also. [IMG]
Feb 1, 2016 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: nice mg
Feb 1, 2016 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: I built 3 tie fighters as well. they are really neat.
    Feb 1, 2016 11:11 AM - danzca6: that is really nice
    Feb 1, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Glass: I got 10 4x8' sheets of mdf for projects.
    Feb 1, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: fun
Feb 1, 2016 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: what thickness?
    Feb 1, 2016 11:12 AM - Mike Glass: 1/8

Feb 2, 2016 at 12:25 PM - daniel871: The video announcing that I won was back on the 21st, and it's been almost 10 business days with no shipping notifications or updates from Robo.

    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:39 PM - danzca6: that reminds me of a TAZ
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:39 PM - daniel871: The more I look at it at that price the more I like it.
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:40 PM - danzca6: the price almost seems too good
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: Have had mine just little over a year now
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:41 PM - danzca6: hmmm...might need to make sure to have spares printed in about 6 mo then
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: axis lab has one like that
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:42 PM - danzca6: daniel, that printer specs made me laugh a bit
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:42 PM - danzca6: under Printable Material
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: I still want a UM2+extended
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:42 PM - danzca6: jelly, foam, ...
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:43 PM - danzca6: well...keep on lasering and you'll be buying one soon
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:44 PM - danzca6: I saw makershed had UM2 on sale...wasn't the plus though
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:44 PM - daniel871: Gel and Foam filaments are out there, but they're more prone to clogging than woodfill, IIRC.
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:45 PM - daniel871: http://www.formfutura.com/175mm-porolay-gellay.html
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:46 PM - danzca6: aaahhh
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:46 PM - danzca6: never hear of it
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:47 PM - daniel871: It used to be listed as a filament that worked with the R1 on Amazon.
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:47 PM - danzca6: and this printer has a 1yr replacement warranty
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:47 PM - daniel871: Yep, I just pulled the trigger on it.
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:48 PM - daniel871: We'll see if I get it faster than the R1+Plus. I chose standard free shipping.
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:48 PM - danzca6: the race is on
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:48 PM - daniel871: Yep.
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:48 PM - danzca6: you'll have to let us know how it is. Even at $400 that is a great price
    Feb 2, 2016 at 12:52 PM - daniel871: $349 right now is pretty good.
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: wow even with a hbp
Feb 2, 2016 at 12:58 PM - daniel871: Yeah, I figured it'd make for an interesting cheap experimenting printer after I print the adjusting knobs to replace the wingnuts that people like to do to the I3 kits that printer is based on.
Feb 2, 2016 at 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: monoprice is an interesting company
Feb 2, 2016 at 1:03 PM - daniel871: Got my order confirmation email, now to see how long it takes to ship.
    Feb 2, 2016 at 1:05 PM - daniel871: OC claims it'll ship today.
Feb 2, 2016 at 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: monoprice ships super fast
Feb 2, 2016 at 1:34 PM - jbigler1986: Printer is finally printing something after 2 weeks of having nothing to print
Feb 2, 2016 at 1:38 PM - daniel871: Yeah, that was fast. Got the shipping email.
Feb 2, 2016 at 1:56 PM - Mike Glass: Yea daniel, thats basically like this one, http://wanhaousa.com/products/duplicator-i3-steel-frame
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: monoprice is king of the cheap knockoff stuff
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: surprisingly good though
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i love their speakers and wires
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:25 PM - AxisLab: All members of the wanhao i3 facebook group can use a discount code for 15% off and free shipping actually. You can get the newer version of that printer straight from wanhao for 350 shipped.
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:26 PM - AxisLab: has to be from wanhao direct, not wanhao usa. wanhao usa is actually just a cleverly named reseller, and not affiliated with wanhao.
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:29 PM - jbigler1986: Anyone working on any projects?
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:36 PM - Mike Kelly: we're refinishing some of my old furniture
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:37 PM - AxisLab: Just going batshit crazy trying to troubleshoot a UM2. My desk looks like a printer exploded and I think i'm just going to say F'it for another night and go home.
    Feb 2, 2016 at 2:37 PM - Mike Kelly: ?
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:37 PM - Mike Kelly: what happened to it
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:40 PM - AxisLab: converted it to 1.75, and fighting the feeding. I need to push the filament so damn hard to push through. Just keep taking it apart to zero in on where the binding is happening.
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:40 PM - BryZad: Just BB-8 for me Jb
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: that does not seem worth it
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:41 PM - BryZad: I need another printer to many projects
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: did you guys see that guy on facebook with 4 robos
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:41 PM - BryZad: Yea lol
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:41 PM - AxisLab: the two per shelf stacked ones?
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:41 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:42 PM - AxisLab: didnt see it
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:42 PM - BryZad: Smart idea for fillament supply using the shelves like that
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:43 PM - AxisLab: The lower ones looked like a pain in the ass to bend over for though lol
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: seriously
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:43 PM - BryZad: Hows the bb Mike worth it ?
    Feb 2, 2016 at 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: i like it
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: it's really big though
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:45 PM - BryZad: Is the build height taller than the RoBo ?
    Feb 2, 2016 at 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: 300mm
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:46 PM - Mike Kelly: the only dimension that's smaller is the Y axis at 200mm
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:46 PM - Mike Kelly: but you get a dump bucket
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:46 PM - BryZad: That kinda sucks
    Feb 2, 2016 at 2:47 PM - BryZad: O for dual extrusion
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:47 PM - Mike Kelly: nope for both
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:47 PM - Mike Kelly: the build plate is 300x200x300
    Feb 2, 2016 at 2:49 PM - BryZad: Hmmm
    Feb 2, 2016 at 2:49 PM - BryZad: Tempting
    Feb 2, 2016 at 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: it's really enormous
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:51 PM - BryZad: Ehhh choices choices
Feb 2, 2016 at 2:52 PM - BryZad: I should have the frame pices for bb8 all printed tonight and assemble them
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:08 PM - danzca6: did anyone see the R2 on Facebook page
    Feb 2, 2016 at 3:08 PM - jbigler1986: It won't come out
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:09 PM - danzca6: it at least hit their facebook this time
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm tired of renders
    Feb 2, 2016 at 3:10 PM - danzca6: haha
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:12 PM - jbigler1986: Ha. First comment is bashing them. Haha
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: jb got a facebook?
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:52 PM - Mike Glass: haha, he likes FB almost as much as ABS
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:52 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I have Facebook. I post projects every once in a while but that's about it
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:53 PM - jbigler1986: I really don't like it though. To much crap and drama
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't really post much but i like it for the feeds
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:57 PM - Mike Kelly: ie comics i like (the awkward yeti, the oatmeal, cyanide and happiness, etc) and media feeds like engadget
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:57 PM - Mike Glass: He only posts when he's drinking..lol
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:58 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Feb 2, 2016 at 3:59 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't post all the time though
Feb 2, 2016 at 4:01 PM - Mike Glass: thats true, you dont post every night.
Feb 2, 2016 at 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: there ya go
Feb 2, 2016 at 4:17 PM - BryZad: I was going to start a build tread on my face book for projects
Feb 2, 2016 at 4:18 PM - BryZad: Bb-8 halo props mass effect ect
    Feb 2, 2016 at 4:27 PM - jbigler1986: Ha. Haven't been drunk in a long time
Feb 2, 2016 at 4:28 PM - jbigler1986: Fuck you windows updates. Takes forever

Feb 2, 2016 at 5:43 PM - danzca6: Cleaning it sounds like work, but if it is 3d printing or cnc projects.... Well that sounds like playing
Feb 2, 2016 at 5:44 PM - danzca6: Yeah the winter crap is getting old. Can't wait until nice weather
Feb 2, 2016 at 6:14 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I cleaned my work room yesterday. It was a mess
Feb 2, 2016 at 6:27 PM - Mike Kelly: well we're refinishing some furniture and had kept my wife's car outside, but because of the big storm we got it to fit
Feb 2, 2016 at 6:27 PM - Mike Kelly: which means it's super cramped
Feb 2, 2016 at 6:30 PM - danzca6: oh, I forgot you mentioned doing furniture refinishing earlier. Yeah..that takes up a bit of room
Feb 2, 2016 at 6:31 PM - danzca6: luckily that storm turned to rain by the time it got out this way
    Feb 2, 2016 at 6:36 PM - jbigler1986: What kind of furniture
Feb 2, 2016 at 6:37 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. Raining like crazy here right now

    Feb 2, 2016 9:35 PM - NFOsec: word up.
Feb 2, 2016 9:35 PM - NFOsec: JB, what ever happened with your case -- meant to ask you earlier in January.
Feb 3, 2016 4:38 AM - jbigler1986: It got continued. Final hearing got rescheduled for April 4th. I have court next Tuesday to modify the original order for custody. They tried to continue themail court date for that but the judge denied it. Lol. Then we have mediation on February 24th. So hopefully all will be said and done by then.
Feb 3, 2016 4:44 AM - jbigler1986: They were trying to avoid going to court at all before mediation because they didn't want the judge to see the lies.
    Feb 3, 2016 6:05 AM - danzca6: Happy Hump Day!
    Feb 3, 2016 6:06 AM - danzca6: this caught my eye this morning...http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160...ne-with-many-maker-injection-molding-kit.html
    Feb 3, 2016 6:07 AM - danzca6: injection molding looks like a fun
    Feb 3, 2016 6:07 AM - danzca6: starting at $399 isn't too bad, but that's the manual version
    Feb 3, 2016 6:08 AM - danzca6: and currently 0% funding of 25K goal
Feb 3, 2016 6:13 AM - danzca6: man, this doesn't look too hard to build yourself
    Feb 3, 2016 6:15 AM - danzca6: oh, launch date 2/9...that explains the funding
    Feb 3, 2016 6:23 AM - daniel871:
    Feb 3, 2016 6:24 AM - danzca6: morning daniel
Feb 3, 2016 6:26 AM - daniel871: Morning. That Monoprice printer is supposed to be here by the end of the day Thursday.
    Feb 3, 2016 6:26 AM - daniel871: Wee.
    Feb 3, 2016 6:26 AM - danzca6: that's freaky fast
Feb 3, 2016 6:27 AM - danzca6: can't wait to hear your review of it
Feb 3, 2016 6:27 AM - danzca6: might be able to snag one before the sale is over
Feb 3, 2016 6:28 AM - daniel871: It's been at that price since October of last year, so I think they just have it there "on sale" forever.
    Feb 3, 2016 6:28 AM - danzca6: haha
    Feb 3, 2016 6:28 AM - danzca6: even better
Feb 3, 2016 6:28 AM - danzca6: hey, was thinking, do you have to pay taxes on the prize Robo?
    Feb 3, 2016 6:28 AM - daniel871: Could've got it for $20 cheaper with a $20 off any order $100+ coupon if I'd done it back on the 17th.
Feb 3, 2016 6:29 AM - daniel871: Why would I have to pay taxes on something of no value?
    Feb 3, 2016 6:29 AM - daniel871: It's Schrodinger's Prize until it's actually delivered.
    Feb 3, 2016 6:30 AM - danzca6: that's true
Feb 3, 2016 6:30 AM - danzca6: well, that might be ~$225 of taxes since the MSRP is $899
Feb 3, 2016 6:31 AM - danzca6: that almost pays for the new printer
Feb 3, 2016 6:32 AM - daniel871: Robo would have to issue a W-2G for me in order for that to happen.
Feb 3, 2016 6:33 AM - danzca6: yeah and there might be a min value before that comes into play anyway
    Feb 3, 2016 6:33 AM - danzca6: would kind of suck though
    Feb 3, 2016 6:34 AM - daniel871: Form 1099-MISC could also apply.
Feb 3, 2016 6:36 AM - daniel871: But basically, paying taxes on it won't apply until I file next year, since I won it this year.
    Feb 3, 2016 6:36 AM - danzca6: true
Feb 3, 2016 6:36 AM - daniel871: And it would be considered a part of my AGI, as opposed to a tax on the value of the thing itself.
Feb 3, 2016 6:39 AM - daniel871: (So I'd really only get screwed over if it bumped me to the next tax bracket, which it won't)
Feb 3, 2016 7:39 AM - WheresWaldo: According to Federal Tax Law, any prize with a value of $600 or more requires the prize giver issue you a 1099-MISC and it's value counts towards ordinary income.
Feb 3, 2016 7:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Under $600 and they don't need to issue a 1099-MISC, but you are still required to report any taxes paid. I am sure most people do the same thing they do with Internet purchases and Use Tax.
    Feb 3, 2016 7:46 AM - jbigler1986: Hola
    Feb 3, 2016 7:48 AM - WheresWaldo: JB
    Feb 3, 2016 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: morning

    Feb 3, 2016 7:55 AM - jbigler1986: Shed a few tears?
Feb 3, 2016 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: a couple.. learned about machining on a Tree in the 60s.. american made simpley was no better made MIll.. anywhere
Feb 3, 2016 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: it still outshines even modern stuff for quality and accuracy
    Feb 3, 2016 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: but, it's a hand-cranked mill..
Feb 3, 2016 7:57 AM - Bill Monroe: making room for a CNC machining center
    Feb 3, 2016 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Feb 3, 2016 8:16 AM - danzca6: morning bill, mike, jb
Feb 3, 2016 8:17 AM - danzca6: when does construction begin on the new shop bill
Feb 3, 2016 8:18 AM - Bill Monroe: hard to say exactly.. right now dealing with the county and chatting with contractors
Feb 3, 2016 8:18 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm planning on move-in in November, but that's really not based on hard data.
    Feb 3, 2016 8:19 AM - danzca6: that seems so far off
Feb 3, 2016 8:19 AM - Bill Monroe: ya well, when you deal with San bernandino county..........
    Feb 3, 2016 8:19 AM - danzca6: sounds like a fun project though
Feb 3, 2016 8:20 AM - Bill Monroe: and live in the "Joshua Tree Village special rules area"
Feb 3, 2016 8:20 AM - Bill Monroe: I've recieved a lot of valuable advice from the neighbors
    Feb 3, 2016 8:21 AM - Bill Monroe: it's not a shop, it's a "studio" :)
    Feb 3, 2016 8:21 AM - danzca6: ahhh...nice
Feb 3, 2016 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: no, the ceiling and windows arent that high so I can build a second floor office loft.. it's to allow "natural light" to enter
Feb 3, 2016 8:23 AM - danzca6: so are you still talking to your buddy about coming out of retirement?
Feb 3, 2016 8:24 AM - Bill Monroe: the restroom is exempt from special septic permits because due to "special needs/senior citizen use"
Feb 3, 2016 8:24 AM - Bill Monroe: no.. all employment options I had failed to materialize
Feb 3, 2016 8:25 AM - danzca6: well...being your own boss has its advantages. onward to bigger and better things
Feb 3, 2016 8:25 AM - Bill Monroe: i have a lot of friends/clients that expressed maintaining a continue relationship though
Feb 3, 2016 8:25 AM - Bill Monroe: the CNC will allow me to do prototype.shortrun production
Feb 3, 2016 8:26 AM - danzca6: did you already buy the CNC or still shopping
Feb 3, 2016 8:27 AM - Bill Monroe: ohya.. forgot another tip.. the foundry? that's for art bronzes so I dont have to pay permit fees to possess a 500 gallon propane tank :)
Feb 3, 2016 8:27 AM - Bill Monroe: i have a spot in line paid for.. but I can sell it
Feb 3, 2016 8:28 AM - Bill Monroe: in fact, i've already once traded to a guy that didnt want to wait for $1000 and his spot in line
Feb 3, 2016 8:29 AM - danzca6: I was talking to a buddy the other day that was telling me of all the hoops they went through building a new house on an existing lot. Lots of tricks to get around rules out there.
    Feb 3, 2016 8:29 AM - danzca6: which CNC are you getting?
    Feb 3, 2016 8:30 AM - danzca6: if you don't mind me asking
    Feb 3, 2016 8:30 AM - Bill Monroe: Tormach PCNC 1100 - http://www.tormach.com/store/index.php?app=ecom&ns=catshow&ref=PCNC1100_Packages_ATC
Feb 3, 2016 8:32 AM - Bill Monroe: I'll be making a door-sized router once im in residence... let the one I have now go and get some custom door biz.. loads of artists and arty-custom designers up here but they have to send their work to LA
    Feb 3, 2016 8:33 AM - danzca6: that's a very nice CNC
Feb 3, 2016 8:34 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, it's surprisingly pro-quality too. there's a maker place here that has one.. I tried it out becuase I couldnt believe the claims for the proce
    Feb 3, 2016 8:34 AM - Bill Monroe: price
    Feb 3, 2016 8:34 AM - Bill Monroe: 10-space tool changer too
Feb 3, 2016 8:35 AM - Bill Monroe: the dont claim it can do fixed threading but the guys using it at the maker place do it all the time
Feb 3, 2016 8:35 AM - Bill Monroe: i have a few tapmatics though.. dont *really* need itr but it would be nice
    Feb 3, 2016 8:36 AM - danzca6: man...that looks like a fun tool to have in a "studio"
Feb 3, 2016 8:37 AM - danzca6: did you already complete your door router for the han solo carbonite project
Feb 3, 2016 8:37 AM - Bill Monroe: yup.. add to it the lathe I already have, band saws, grinder and sanders.. and the foundry... I', about to being heavy industry to the art level
Feb 3, 2016 8:38 AM - Bill Monroe: no, have my position eliminated used up all my time.. now I'm moving so.. Han might not happen
Feb 3, 2016 8:39 AM - Bill Monroe: there isnt a single machine shop (other than the one on the Marine Corps Base) within 65 miles of here
Feb 3, 2016 8:41 AM - Bill Monroe: i already have pretty much all that I need for the door router though.. motors, controls lead, screws, linear motion.. might need to get some more 80/20 stuff but I get a deal on that and the drive to get it will be enjoyable
Feb 3, 2016 8:42 AM - danzca6: oh, when you say you are moving, are you just going to be in Joshua Tree now?
Feb 3, 2016 8:42 AM - Bill Monroe: and between the castings and tormach.. it's gunna be way overbuilt
Feb 3, 2016 8:42 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, permament resident
Feb 3, 2016 8:43 AM - danzca6: that will be a nice change not to have to deal with more than one place
Feb 3, 2016 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. i cant wait really.. i worked hard to avoid it then one day enough was enough
Feb 3, 2016 8:48 AM - Bill Monroe: I just realized it will be late spring/summer when the move is done... 2.0 is especially fun to watch when the weather is warm :)
Feb 3, 2016 8:48 AM - danzca6: in southern CA, is there any other weather
Feb 3, 2016 8:49 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, the past month has been atypically cold and wet
Feb 3, 2016 8:49 AM - Bill Monroe: El Nino!!!
Feb 3, 2016 8:54 AM - BryZad: It has been in the 50-60 deg range lows 36 here and people are freaking out
Feb 3, 2016 8:54 AM - toymaker: today sdoes look a little warmer

Feb 3, 2016 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: clear skies today, hopefully melt some of that 14" of snow
    Feb 3, 2016 8:55 AM - toymaker: bill u got a 8020 connection?
Feb 3, 2016 8:55 AM - Bill Monroe: the upside is ALL the ski areas opened early and it's all natural
Feb 3, 2016 8:56 AM - Bill Monroe: ya toy, the largest stocking distributor/assembler in the west is 7 miles away and hires high school engineering student as summer interns.
Feb 3, 2016 8:56 AM - toymaker: bill if u ever need somme help moving, im palm desert pretty often... just sayn
Feb 3, 2016 8:57 AM - Bill Monroe: thanks toy... i think I'm ok for now.. the biggest single piece I have to move is the lathe
Feb 3, 2016 8:57 AM - toymaker: i need to pick mines up from victorville
Feb 3, 2016 9:01 AM - Bill Monroe: really.. you can leave them at my ex's if you like
Feb 3, 2016 9:03 AM - Bill Monroe: the 80/20 guy has a cutoff area where you can buy stuff swapmeet style - guys me the good-guy price on everything since I've either given or directed business his way
    Feb 3, 2016 9:04 AM - Bill Monroe: and his office manager/daughter is uber-hot :)
    Feb 3, 2016 9:26 AM - toymaker: u dont say =)
Feb 3, 2016 9:27 AM - toymaker: i might have to stop by next time im in palm desert
    Feb 3, 2016 9:38 AM - Mike Kelly: creepers
    Feb 3, 2016 9:39 AM - toymaker: for the 8020 =)
Feb 3, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: uh huh
Feb 3, 2016 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: good thing no girls come here
Feb 3, 2016 9:42 AM - toymaker: ikr... i wonder why that is
Feb 3, 2016 9:42 AM - toymaker: my ideal girl would have to be really good at programming/code
Feb 3, 2016 9:50 AM - Schlomo: good luck with that one
Feb 3, 2016 9:51 AM - Mike Kelly: unicorns they are
Feb 3, 2016 9:52 AM - toymaker: btw make sure to turn off windows updates if u running win 7 or u might wake up to unpleasant surprise
Feb 3, 2016 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i heard about that
Feb 3, 2016 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: fucking microsoft should be sued for that
Feb 3, 2016 9:53 AM - toymaker: oh and democracy brought to u by microsoft
Feb 3, 2016 9:53 AM - Schlomo: My wife's idea of Programming is "hacking the mainframe"
Feb 3, 2016 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: my wife used to know html but probably nothing anymore
Feb 3, 2016 9:54 AM - Schlomo: it can be a blessing though, if your on your PC and your wife comes to try and get you to do something you can say your busy programming something really important
    Feb 3, 2016 9:55 AM - Schlomo: lol
Feb 3, 2016 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: problem with nerdy guys and girls meeting each other is neither goes outside
Feb 3, 2016 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: hey schlomo maybe you can help me figure out why my storebought kegs keep coming out with tons of head
Feb 3, 2016 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: even at like 7 psi it just shoots out
Feb 3, 2016 9:56 AM - Schlomo: get them to your desired pressure and let them cool to your kegerator temp for ~2 days
Feb 3, 2016 9:56 AM - Schlomo: off gas slowly
    Feb 3, 2016 9:56 AM - Schlomo: then they'll equalize at your kegs temp/pressure
Feb 3, 2016 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: it just seems like i'm over carbonating it or something
Feb 3, 2016 9:57 AM - Schlomo: it happens because C02 is absorbed into solution better at lower temps
Feb 3, 2016 9:57 AM - Schlomo: as the kegs warmp up during travel the Co2 off gasses in the keg
Feb 3, 2016 9:57 AM - Schlomo: gotta bring the temp back down and let it stabilize
Feb 3, 2016 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: am i too high on pressure then?>
Feb 3, 2016 9:58 AM - Schlomo: also, you could be over carbonating if you put them back on gas before they get back to fridge temps
    Feb 3, 2016 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Feb 3, 2016 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i gave them a few hours to settle before i put gas on
Feb 3, 2016 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: they may have been a bit warmer
Feb 3, 2016 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i typically try and give them a day of rest after travel before tapping
Feb 3, 2016 9:59 AM - Schlomo: yeah, those things take a good 24 hours to get to a consistant temp, a lot of volume
Feb 3, 2016 9:59 AM - Schlomo: well, one easy way you could do it is to no run gas at all to you tap, and pour until there is no back pressure in the keg
Feb 3, 2016 10:00 AM - Schlomo: then set it to your 7psi
Feb 3, 2016 10:00 AM - Schlomo: then you wont over carbonate
    Feb 3, 2016 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
    Feb 3, 2016 10:00 AM - Schlomo: hold on, i have a chart
    Feb 3, 2016 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll try that
Feb 3, 2016 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: what psi do you keep yours at
    Feb 3, 2016 10:01 AM - Schlomo: http://www.kegerators.com/carbonation-table.php
Feb 3, 2016 10:01 AM - Schlomo: I force carbonate, so i set it to 25psi for 24 hours at it goes from fermentation temp to fridge temp, then to 12psi
Feb 3, 2016 10:02 AM - Schlomo: run my fridge at 35f, and i like my beer slightly higher carbonation, so it works perfect for me at 12
Feb 3, 2016 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: do you have a dual stage regulator
Feb 3, 2016 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: or do you only drink homebrew
    Feb 3, 2016 10:07 AM - Schlomo: just a single
Feb 3, 2016 10:08 AM - Schlomo: i've bought a few kegs from a local brewery here in Ann Arbor MI, but i run those at 12psi, i let them off-pressure and set them to 12
    Feb 3, 2016 10:08 AM - Schlomo: I couldn't justify the price of a second regulator lol
Feb 3, 2016 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: how long are your liquid lines?
Feb 3, 2016 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: i bought a second stage but now you're making me question why :)
Feb 3, 2016 10:11 AM - Schlomo: all my liquid lines are exactly 10'
Feb 3, 2016 10:11 AM - Schlomo: helps reduce head
Feb 3, 2016 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm mine are only 6'
Feb 3, 2016 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: when i originally bought it they were like 3'
Feb 3, 2016 10:13 AM - Schlomo: how cold do you keep your kegerator?
Feb 3, 2016 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe i should upgrade my line length
Feb 3, 2016 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: one step below warmest, i need to measure though
    Feb 3, 2016 10:14 AM - Schlomo: yeah get a temperature reading
Feb 3, 2016 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i've got a thermometer in another fridge i can use
Feb 3, 2016 10:15 AM - Schlomo: then throw it into that chart and get it into the green range, and set your PSI accordingly
Feb 3, 2016 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: cool thanks man
Feb 3, 2016 10:15 AM - Schlomo: for line length, does the beer really shoot out the tap? or flow realitively easily?
    Feb 3, 2016 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.3dprintinggeeks.com/3d-printer-filament-storage/
Feb 3, 2016 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: it really shoots out
Feb 3, 2016 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: kinda violenetly
    Feb 3, 2016 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: i think that's what's causing the head
Feb 3, 2016 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: it's either low and slow but good head, or fast and violent and all head
Feb 3, 2016 10:16 AM - Schlomo: last question, what is the ID of your beer lines?
Feb 3, 2016 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: uh 3/8" whatever is normal
    Feb 3, 2016 10:18 AM - Schlomo: probably 3/16"
    Feb 3, 2016 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Feb 3, 2016 10:18 AM - Schlomo: you're probably fine on line length then
    Feb 3, 2016 10:18 AM - Schlomo: http://beersmith.com/blog/2011/07/14/keg-line-length-balancing-the-science-of-draft-beer/
    Feb 3, 2016 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: ok
Feb 3, 2016 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: i picked 6' after reading recomendations when i tried to sort this the first time
Feb 3, 2016 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to get some beer making supplies anyways. I came up with a recipe i want to make
Feb 3, 2016 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: first time "from scratch"
    Feb 3, 2016 10:20 AM - Schlomo: Sweet
    Feb 3, 2016 10:20 AM - Schlomo: Extract?
Feb 3, 2016 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: all grain
    Feb 3, 2016 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i bought a 50lb bag of 2 row the other day
    Feb 3, 2016 10:21 AM - Schlomo: ag good
    Feb 3, 2016 10:21 AM - Schlomo: ah good*
Feb 3, 2016 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a pale ale recipe i'm basing loosely off dales pale ale
Feb 3, 2016 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm using Simcoe as my primary hop
Feb 3, 2016 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: because i really like it
    Feb 3, 2016 10:21 AM - Schlomo:
Feb 3, 2016 10:22 AM - Schlomo: thats my setup, the video sucks i know but it was a long time ago, just all i have at the moment

Feb 3, 2016 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: and gonna use up some spare others, centennial, columbus, and cascade
Feb 3, 2016 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm aiming for a bit lighter color, they use 60L but i'm gonna go with 40L
    Feb 3, 2016 10:24 AM - Schlomo: sounds good
    Feb 3, 2016 10:24 AM - Schlomo: i love Dales pale
Feb 3, 2016 10:24 AM - Schlomo: only 1 place by me i can get it though
Feb 3, 2016 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: very nice, I REALLY want to make a recirculating mash
    Feb 3, 2016 10:24 AM - Schlomo: and its like $11 /6er
Feb 3, 2016 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's probably my favorite beer, hard to say though
Feb 3, 2016 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: woof that sucks
    Feb 3, 2016 10:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i get a keg of it for lke 65
Feb 3, 2016 10:25 AM - Schlomo: You out in Colorade?
    Feb 3, 2016 10:25 AM - Schlomo: colorado***
    Feb 3, 2016 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Feb 3, 2016 10:26 AM - Schlomo: I had a cousin who was stationed out there for some time and flew out once to see him
Feb 3, 2016 10:26 AM - Schlomo: first time I had dales was there
    Feb 3, 2016 10:26 AM - Schlomo: good stuff
Feb 3, 2016 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i also really like their deviant dales IPA
    Feb 3, 2016 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm a sucker for IIPA
Feb 3, 2016 10:28 AM - Schlomo: i had that one while I was out there, they dont carry it in the liquor store by me though..
    Feb 3, 2016 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: dam
Feb 3, 2016 10:28 AM - Schlomo: most of the good IIPA's are from Founders around here
Feb 3, 2016 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: well at least you get short's
    Feb 3, 2016 10:28 AM - Schlomo: or Stone
Feb 3, 2016 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: and founders
    Feb 3, 2016 10:28 AM - Schlomo: yep
Feb 3, 2016 10:29 AM - Schlomo: meanwile, my direct drive extruder keeps screwing up my long duration prints..
    Feb 3, 2016 10:29 AM - Schlomo: grrrrrr
Feb 3, 2016 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: at GABF i asked the guy from shorts when they'd be distributing in colorado full time (they had done some distribution pre-gabf to get their name out)
Feb 3, 2016 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: he said "NEVER" and gave a maniacal laugh
    Feb 3, 2016 10:29 AM - Schlomo: lol
Feb 3, 2016 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: i've been having so many jamming problems
Feb 3, 2016 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: i think my nozzles are shot
Feb 3, 2016 10:30 AM - Mike Kelly: moral of the story, free crap filament is never worth it
Feb 3, 2016 10:30 AM - Schlomo: yeah, im probably going to take my whole heat break apart and torch the whole thing
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i just really need to find a way to restore nozzles
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i have a whole jar of them
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: about 1-2" of filament gets really bloated in the hotend
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if ultrasonic would do the trick
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: fans running?
    Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: no
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: well the heatbreak fan is
    Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: i'm printing abs
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: heatsink yeah
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: so parts fans are off
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm ABS typically doesn't swell
Feb 3, 2016 10:31 AM - Schlomo: but its in 50c active heated chamber
Feb 3, 2016 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: because of the high tg
Feb 3, 2016 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: even that should be fine
Feb 3, 2016 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: your heatsink would need to be like 110C to start causing the abs to transition
    Feb 3, 2016 10:32 AM - Schlomo: hmm
Feb 3, 2016 10:32 AM - Schlomo: its not, its cool to touch
Feb 3, 2016 10:32 AM - Schlomo: maybe just bad filament?
Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Schlomo: its hatchbox abs..
    Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe
Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i very rarely have jamming issues with ABS
    Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Schlomo: i have a spool of protosomethingoranother
    Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: especially on my e3d's
Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: prototype supply or protopasta?
    Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Schlomo: supply
Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that stuff is great
Feb 3, 2016 10:33 AM - Schlomo: someone on here recommended it
Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Schlomo: im going to try it today after i clean my nozzle
    Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: it was me :)
    Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Schlomo: oh haha
Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Schlomo: was thinking it was that other guy who posts alot
    Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm everywhere >_>
    Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: <_<
    Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: mark
Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: btw i haven't forgottena bout the single extruder plate, just haven't gotten around to it
    Feb 3, 2016 10:34 AM - Schlomo: yeah
    Feb 3, 2016 10:35 AM - Schlomo: no worries
Feb 3, 2016 10:35 AM - Schlomo: i printed my carriage in PETG from Hatchbox, and found with the heated chamber (might be present without it) it gets a bit wobbly on that carriage
Feb 3, 2016 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: wow that means it's getting to like 70C
Feb 3, 2016 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: I use abs for all my printer components
Feb 3, 2016 10:36 AM - Schlomo: maybe, my temp probe is not in a direct spot
Feb 3, 2016 10:36 AM - Schlomo: its towards the outside of the case against the wall
Feb 3, 2016 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i would personally try and have the temp reading below the x carriage
Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: close to the print
    Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Schlomo: maybe i
    Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Schlomo: i'll try that
Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: cause that's really where you're trying to stay stable
Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: since you'll get some heating from the bed
Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: and so you want that zone between the heated bed and nozzle to be heated
Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Schlomo: any material you can think of that might be better for that temp?
Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Schlomo: other than aluminum? lol
    Feb 3, 2016 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: the rest doesn't matter
Feb 3, 2016 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: ABS has a tg of like 107
Feb 3, 2016 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: PC is the next highest at like 125
    Feb 3, 2016 10:38 AM - Schlomo: hmmm
Feb 3, 2016 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: ABS-PC would be a good choice, or ePC from eSun
Feb 3, 2016 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: at some point i want to make an all aluminum printer with water cooled everything to get like 100C build volume
    Feb 3, 2016 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: but that's fanciful
    Feb 3, 2016 10:39 AM - jbigler1986: Never
Feb 3, 2016 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: never gonna happen you mean?
Feb 3, 2016 10:39 AM - jbigler1986: Idk. Just felt like saying never
Feb 3, 2016 10:40 AM - Schlomo: well i gotta get back to work
Feb 3, 2016 10:40 AM - Schlomo: talk to you later man
    Feb 3, 2016 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: R2 will be released soon
Feb 3, 2016 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: Has Daniel heard from them yet?
    Feb 3, 2016 10:40 AM - daniel871: "Never will I ever ______"

    Feb 3, 2016 10:40 AM - daniel871: Also, no.
Feb 3, 2016 10:40 AM - Schlomo: i just ordered a spool of ePC, i wanted to play around with it anyway so for 25 bucks free shipping on amazon might as well lol
    Feb 3, 2016 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: Shitty
Feb 3, 2016 10:41 AM - daniel871: I ordered that rinky-dink $350 Monoprice Maker Select printer yesterday, should have it Thursday.
Feb 3, 2016 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: Have they contacted you at all
Feb 3, 2016 10:42 AM - daniel871: Nope. I sent an email to Harry asking him to forward the shipping details to whoever is responsible to send it out since Braydon hadn't responded and he said he sent it along.
    Feb 3, 2016 10:42 AM - daniel871: But other than that, no.
Feb 3, 2016 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i need to buy some of that ePC if it's everything waldo says it is
Feb 3, 2016 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel knowing them it'll just show up and then 2 days later you'll get the tracking notice
Feb 3, 2016 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: for such a small company they seem to have communication issues
    Feb 3, 2016 10:44 AM - bamhm182: Hey all
Feb 3, 2016 10:44 AM - daniel871: I saw that post on FB where they're putting together a bunch of prosthetics for E-Nable.
Feb 3, 2016 10:44 AM - bamhm182: Just popping in for a second to see how everyone's doing. Been out of the house a LOT recently, so I haven't had much time to get on here. :/
Feb 3, 2016 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: sup bam
Feb 3, 2016 10:45 AM - bamhm182: Hey, MK. You got your BigBox already, right?
    Feb 3, 2016 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly:
    Feb 3, 2016 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Feb 3, 2016 10:46 AM - daniel871: I know politics are verboten, but this is pretty funny.
Feb 3, 2016 10:46 AM - bamhm182: What are your thoughts on it?
    Feb 3, 2016 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: it's BIG
Feb 3, 2016 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: like big
    Feb 3, 2016 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i dig it though
Feb 3, 2016 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: love the mechanics system
Feb 3, 2016 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: the bed is the best part of the whole printer
    Feb 3, 2016 10:47 AM - bamhm182: Awesome
    Feb 3, 2016 10:47 AM - bamhm182: Why's that?
Feb 3, 2016 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: well the leveling system is very nice
Feb 3, 2016 10:48 AM - bamhm182: Did you get the Lite, Pro, or Dual?
Feb 3, 2016 10:48 AM - Mike Kelly: they really put a lot of thought into the heated bed to ensure even temperature distribution
Feb 3, 2016 10:48 AM - Mike Kelly: Dual but i'd recommend the Pro
Feb 3, 2016 10:48 AM - bamhm182: For the same reasons that are usually accompanied by the statement "Screw dual extrusion"?
    Feb 3, 2016 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: basically
Feb 3, 2016 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: it's just so big and heavy
Feb 3, 2016 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: plus it's easy to swap in duals later on if you decide
Feb 3, 2016 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm probably going to print out the single extruder carriage at some point
    Feb 3, 2016 10:50 AM - bamhm182: Fair enough. I haven't even touched my Robos recently
Feb 3, 2016 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: but yeah
    Feb 3, 2016 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: it's a stout printer
Feb 3, 2016 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm pretty sure my whole robo could fit inside it
    Feb 3, 2016 10:51 AM - bamhm182: Hahaha
Feb 3, 2016 10:51 AM - bamhm182: You do much work with your MPCNC recently?
Feb 3, 2016 10:52 AM - bamhm182: I have been throwing around the idea of finally getting one of those together once I get my taxes back.
Feb 3, 2016 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i tried a cut about a month ago but i'm having some troubles figuring out my new CAM
Feb 3, 2016 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i had the depth set wrong on a cut and it plowed all the way through with no tabs
Feb 3, 2016 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: works great on my old cam though, just gotta go slow
    Feb 3, 2016 11:01 AM - danzca6: holy crap...is that BAM!?
    Feb 3, 2016 11:02 AM - daniel871: Not anymore.
Feb 3, 2016 11:02 AM - daniel871: At least, not according to the online list I'm seeing.
    Feb 3, 2016 11:02 AM - danzca6: man, I missed it...haha
    Feb 3, 2016 11:03 AM - danzca6: haven't talked to him forever
    Feb 3, 2016 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: lol

Feb 3, 2016 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: hopefully we can get .gifv support soon
    Feb 3, 2016 11:11 AM - daniel871: Right after the R2 becomes reality.
    Feb 3, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: hahaha
    Feb 3, 2016 11:11 AM - daniel871: Or my CES winnings.
Feb 3, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah whenever Harry gets to it I guess
Feb 3, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: if ever...
    Feb 3, 2016 11:12 AM - danzca6: has harry fixed searches yet
Feb 3, 2016 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: is there something wrong with it?
Feb 3, 2016 11:13 AM - danzca6: sucks not being able to search...I can't pull anything back when I do it anymore since the last upgrade
Feb 3, 2016 11:13 AM - daniel871: I was about to ask when searches broke, because it works as well as any other forum search that uses this kind of forum software.
Feb 3, 2016 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: wow yeah
Feb 3, 2016 11:14 AM - danzca6: well, I guess the only thing I can pull back are posts done since the upgrade
Feb 3, 2016 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: on wonder we've been getting so many repeat threads
Feb 3, 2016 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: god this forum is such a joke
Feb 3, 2016 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't know why they even pretend
Feb 3, 2016 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: just shut it down and use their beloved facebook and instagram
    Feb 3, 2016 11:15 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Feb 3, 2016 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: because they could give a shit about this
    Feb 3, 2016 11:15 AM - daniel871: Just do that.
Feb 3, 2016 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: alternatively just add site:community.robo3d.com to your search, same thing
Feb 3, 2016 11:16 AM - daniel871: Works for pretty much any website you want to search.
Feb 3, 2016 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: man i really want to see this pet of the day video but it won't load
    Feb 3, 2016 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: gif*
    Feb 3, 2016 11:17 AM - daniel871: It is pretty huge.
    Feb 3, 2016 11:17 AM - danzca6: thanks dan, that works
Feb 3, 2016 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: oh i'm an idiot, just add a v to the end Mike
Feb 3, 2016 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: lol that cat just had a system failure
    Feb 3, 2016 11:18 AM - daniel871: Cartwheeling off the table.
Feb 3, 2016 11:18 AM - danzca6: yeah I hate that a lot of the old links don't work because of another upgrade they did awhile back
Feb 3, 2016 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that still pisses me off to no end
Feb 3, 2016 11:18 AM - Mike Kelly: it was a totally unnecessary change
Feb 3, 2016 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: they took a sledge hammer to a pane of glass thinking they could make something better out of it
Feb 3, 2016 11:19 AM - danzca6: maybe we need to make our own forum for just makerspace
Feb 3, 2016 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: then left the crumbled remains on the ground and forgot about it
Feb 3, 2016 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: i really want to find a makers community like this
Feb 3, 2016 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: basically only reason i come here is to chat with you guys
    Feb 3, 2016 11:20 AM - danzca6: I know the guys here are great
    Feb 3, 2016 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: we've got a nice community going
Feb 3, 2016 11:21 AM - daniel871: Could always just go to the unofficial owners FB page and rant/talk there.
Feb 3, 2016 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: and the bigbox community hasnt really picked up yet since the shipping stopped
Feb 3, 2016 11:21 AM - daniel871: Everyone is putting their 2000 piece jigsaw puzzle together.
Feb 3, 2016 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: daniel except the robo employees actually check that
    Feb 3, 2016 11:21 AM - daniel871: Do they run it though?
    Feb 3, 2016 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: no
    Feb 3, 2016 11:22 AM - daniel871: Then F-'em.
Feb 3, 2016 11:22 AM - danzca6: why did the bb stop shipping
    Feb 3, 2016 11:22 AM - daniel871: They've been having QC issues.

Feb 3, 2016 11:22 AM - daniel871: So I'm glad to hear they stopped until they got them fixed.
Feb 3, 2016 11:23 AM - danzca6: shoot...it's good to hear they are worried about QC to stop the bleeding
Feb 3, 2016 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you can tell the Z axis was the one the littlebox guys had the least experience with
Feb 3, 2016 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: but they've been making some good discoveries on the issues
    Feb 3, 2016 11:24 AM - daniel871: This is pretty funny.
    Feb 3, 2016 11:24 AM - daniel871: http://i.imgur.com/wh1tack.gifv
Feb 3, 2016 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: everything should be rock solid by the time daniel gets his assembled printer
Feb 3, 2016 11:25 AM - daniel871: Yellow dude shaking his head in resignation.
    Feb 3, 2016 11:25 AM - danzca6: haha...I've seen that one dan
Feb 3, 2016 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: just a lot of pissed off backers who haven't gotten theirs
    Feb 3, 2016 11:25 AM - daniel871: Have you seen this one, http://i.imgur.com/zav4M9f.gifv
    Feb 3, 2016 11:26 AM - danzca6: yeah I'd rather wait then get shipped a headache
Feb 3, 2016 11:26 AM - danzca6: classic...haha...I will have to show that one to my daughter
Feb 3, 2016 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: then you get those "I'm a machinist and can make the part myself, just shipppp ittttt"
Feb 3, 2016 11:26 AM - danzca6: well, have they released the plans for the bb yet
Feb 3, 2016 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: to the backers yes
    Feb 3, 2016 11:27 AM - danzca6: ah, that makes sense
Feb 3, 2016 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: once they finish shipping all the kickstarter orders they'll be up for everyone
    Feb 3, 2016 11:29 AM - danzca6: maybe I will have a laser by then
    Feb 3, 2016 11:30 AM - Mike Kelly: probably won't fit
Feb 3, 2016 11:30 AM - Mike Kelly: the big pieces are enormous
Feb 3, 2016 11:30 AM - danzca6: well,,, maybe I'll have to scale it down and make a mediumbox haha
    Feb 3, 2016 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: sounds like a pain :)
    Feb 3, 2016 11:32 AM - danzca6: yeah...that's true
    Feb 3, 2016 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: just get a bigger laser ;)
Feb 3, 2016 11:35 AM - danzca6: I think lasers should have a way to slide in longer/wider pieces. Maybe a belt that can move the material or something
Feb 3, 2016 11:35 AM - danzca6: of course, don't want to cut the belt
Feb 3, 2016 11:38 AM - Bill Monroe: <singing like BB King> "the mill is gone.....The mill is gone away....."
    Feb 3, 2016 11:38 AM - danzca6: are your hands green
    Feb 3, 2016 11:39 AM - Bill Monroe: nope
Feb 3, 2016 11:40 AM - danzca6: ok, fist full of dollars might have been a better question
Feb 3, 2016 11:40 AM - Bill Monroe: none... I gave it away
    Feb 3, 2016 11:40 AM - danzca6: what a generous guy
Feb 3, 2016 11:41 AM - Bill Monroe: heh well I paid next to nothing for it 8 years ago... the guy getting it is the right guy for it, and he paid a pro to move it so... win-win
Feb 3, 2016 11:43 AM - Bill Monroe: me moving it to Joshua Tree was out of the question, I need CNC now.
Feb 3, 2016 11:43 AM - Bill Monroe: I called a scrap guy here, he wanted $400 just to haul it away...
    Feb 3, 2016 11:43 AM - danzca6: yikes
    Feb 3, 2016 11:43 AM - Bill Monroe: ya
Feb 3, 2016 11:44 AM - Bill Monroe: heck even fairly young CNC machines dont go for much - heavy equipment is hard to get rid of
Feb 3, 2016 11:45 AM - Bill Monroe: lots of good deals in the rust belt though.. I've heard great stories of guys getting sweet deals and using Uship to get it to the west coast..
Feb 3, 2016 11:48 AM - danzca6: well, I'm sure you have plenty of other toys to keep you from getting the shakes before the CNC gets shipped
Feb 3, 2016 11:49 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, moving, working on the new shop.. chasing 2.0 around the house... I'll be busy
    Feb 3, 2016 11:49 AM - danzca6: heh...hopefully more the the last one
Feb 3, 2016 11:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ive got a whole bunch of 2x4 steel tube - I'll probably use it to make another firewood rack for 2.0
    Feb 3, 2016 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: woo i think i have a patent
    Feb 3, 2016 12:02 PM - donhuevo: congrats!
Feb 3, 2016 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: just got our notice of allowance
Feb 3, 2016 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: too bad it's probably worthless, but hey, patent
    Feb 3, 2016 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.sci-news.com/othersciences/nanotechnologies/smallest-ever-lattice-structure-03608.html
    Feb 3, 2016 12:07 PM - danzca6: wow...a patent...that is always a good thing to add to a resume
    Feb 3, 2016 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Feb 3, 2016 12:23 PM - Mike Kelly: hopefully the first of many but it's a good start
    Feb 3, 2016 12:24 PM - Schlomo: Hey mike
Feb 3, 2016 12:24 PM - Schlomo: what extruder would you recommend for a bowden setup?
Feb 3, 2016 12:25 PM - Schlomo: given i need to use a mk8 drive gear as my stock greg wades hobbed bolt is ruined and im too lazy to make a new one
Feb 3, 2016 12:25 PM - Mike Kelly: hercustruder is pretty good
Feb 3, 2016 12:25 PM - Mike Kelly: on youmagine
Feb 3, 2016 12:25 PM - Mike Kelly: nothing beats the bondtech though
Feb 3, 2016 12:38 PM - Schlomo: do they have a printable version
Feb 3, 2016 12:39 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a geared hobbed drive that makes it unique
Feb 3, 2016 12:39 PM - Mike Kelly: the hercustruder is nice though, i like it
Feb 3, 2016 12:56 PM - Mike Kelly: alright schlomo i think i came up with a pretty cool idea on how to do the single extruder plate w/out supports
    Feb 3, 2016 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Feb 3, 2016 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: what size screws do you have?
    Feb 3, 2016 1:00 PM - Mike Kelly: right now it's designed for M3-25mm
    Feb 3, 2016 1:19 PM - daniel871: LOL, "Please clap" https://t.co/oAc6OjVWno
    Feb 3, 2016 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: wut
Feb 3, 2016 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: he needs the lights like on game shows
Feb 3, 2016 1:23 PM - daniel871: The clip needs the dramatic sting used in suspense films when the maniac is about to do something violent if he doesn't get his way.
Feb 3, 2016 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: this day is dragging like crazy
Feb 3, 2016 5:11 PM - jbigler1986: Everyday this week has been dragging. Sucks

Feb 4, 2016 at 8:08 AM - toymaker: ry about snowden thought this was interesting .... Last October, Scotland Yard said it would no longer station officers outside the Ecuador embassy following an operation which it said had cost £12.6m. But it said "a number of overt and covert tactics to arrest him" would still be deployed.

Feb 4, 2016 at 8:20 AM - toymaker: no i what think is weird is people who use facebook and live their lives through it
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:21 AM - daniel871: I don't see why a new Doom is required when people still get so much play out of the original.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:21 AM - toymaker: graphics daniel
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:21 AM - toymaker: non linear play
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:22 AM - daniel871: The last DOOM sequel I played was a buggy piece of garbage.

    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:25 AM - daniel871: Doom 3, but with the 3 like an exponent.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:26 AM - daniel871: Came out in 2004, where Half-Life was 1998.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:26 AM - danzca6: they came out with a new wolfenstien, now doom, what's next? Quake

Feb 4, 2016 at 8:29 AM - danzca6: he says he won't release the files which is good, but I guess it is showing more of what can be done these days
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:29 AM - daniel871: "Hey I totally 3D printed this gun" *bought 80% of the parts at a store and printed the accessory rails*
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:31 AM - daniel871: Maybe the grips were printed as well. But the actual firing mechanisms and barrel were store-bought.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:31 AM - toymaker: truth for once daniel
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: toy that's like the other end of the spectrum. it's more of a news aggregator than anything else these days. It's a place you make out of it
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: let's not use those words
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:32 AM - toymaker: dont make stuff up as fact

Feb 4, 2016 at 8:32 AM - danzca6: liberal amount of lube...what the heck are you doing with that bottle? haha
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: don't need to be conservative with it ;)

Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - toymaker: pinky or the brain?
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - danzca6: not when she's laid up
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: more of pinky because it was not very smart
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i feel bad cause it's so snowy out he has like no place to go
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - daniel871: Monoprice printer will be in "by the end of the day" today.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: congrats
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: should be fun
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - toymaker: that means the brain is still on the loose
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: prebuilt?
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:35 AM - danzca6: you should be up printing in like 10 minutes according to the site
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:35 AM - daniel871: The Monoprice printer is 3 subassemblies that you put together once you remove it form the box.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:35 AM - toymaker: 6 screws
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:35 AM - daniel871: So yeah, mostly pre-built.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:36 AM - daniel871: Put the frame together, connect the wires to the control box, level the bed, then print.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: fun
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:37 AM - daniel871: Still need to determine what profile in Simplify3D to use.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:37 AM - danzca6: what...why not use matter control
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:38 AM - danzca6: maniacal laugh
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:38 AM - daniel871: The manual actually gives a link and password to download the version of Cura to use with it.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: i think it's just a prusa i3
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: should be an option in s3d
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:39 AM - daniel871: I think that's right, as well, as the steps for setting up Cura say to pick a Prusa I3, so that's probably close enough.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:40 AM - daniel871: "Prusa Mendel" is the actual name of the option.

Feb 4, 2016 at 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah just make sure the build volume is accurate and you should be fine
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:41 AM - daniel871: 200mm x 200mm x 100mm is S3D.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Schlomo: i opted for a project so im building a Tantillus style printed case printer
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:42 AM - Schlomo: case is done, turned out well, but ffs i have ran into every problem in the book while printing the carriage parts
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: build the eustathios spider v2
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:43 AM - daniel871: Should be 200 x 200 x 180 according to the Monoprice website, so I figure I'll just modify the Machine build space there and look at the sample programs for starting/ending GCode if the sample print runs well.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: exactly
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:43 AM - Schlomo: I saw that one. Might be my next printer, but my CnC is next on the list
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:43 AM - Schlomo: wanted a small printer for small gears/parts
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:44 AM - daniel871: The framework being powder-coated steel vs. plastic/acrylic is a big plus to me.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:44 AM - daniel871: Assuming UPS doesn't bend it in transit.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: are you using the spectra line?
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:44 AM - Schlomo: me?
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Schlomo: i haven't gotten any line yet
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Schlomo: does it make a big difference?
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: *shrugs*
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i just know that's what the tantillus used
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Schlomo: i figure any braided fishing line should be fine
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Schlomo: as long as the diameter is large enough
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Schlomo: i do alot of fishing, so I should have something on hand that will work
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: and low flex
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: you don't want any elasticity in the line
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Schlomo: right
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Schlomo: i think they sell spectra in outdoor stores like dicks sporting goods around me
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: can i ask what you do for a living?
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Schlomo: Im an engineer
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Schlomo: Computer engineer
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Schlomo: by degree at least, i work for Bosch
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: ah, was gonna guess engineer
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: oh very cool
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: so you get deals on power tools?
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Schlomo: I can
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Schlomo: but the process is almost not worth it to me
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: bummer
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Schlomo: if there is something I know i want in the future i'll go through the company, but if i need something like in 5 days its not fast enough
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Schlomo: They do a huge reconditioned tool sale 2 times a year and the deals are crazy good
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: oh man nice
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i would have so many tools
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:50 AM - toymaker: group buy =)
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:50 AM - Schlomo: lol
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:50 AM - Schlomo: by the time i would take a commission you guys wouldnt save much ;) lol
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:51 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i'm gonna brew this weekend
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:52 AM - daniel871: It's almost not worth anticipating a tax refund any more. All of it still goes toward paying down medical bills.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:52 AM - daniel871: An even $1,000 this year.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:52 AM - daniel871: But somehow I owe the state $80?
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah we don't pay enough upfront to get a refund
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:53 AM - daniel871: Every single year, get a little back from the Fed, pay some more to the State.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 8:54 AM - daniel871: Single/Zero dependents on my payroll taxes, so I don't get it.
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:55 AM - BryZad: Morning all
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:55 AM - Mike Kelly: sup brad
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:55 AM - BryZad: NM in Vegas for work today
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:56 AM - BryZad: Anyone got a good line on like a case 12+ rolls of Pla ?
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:57 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:57 AM - Mike Kelly: cheap as you can get? or what
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:57 AM - Mike Kelly: robotdigg sells their PLA for $14 per
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:58 AM - BryZad: Would say middle quality need something that is worth printing props in
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:58 AM - BryZad: Have you ever used robotdigg ?
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: just their HIPS
Feb 4, 2016 at 8:59 AM - Mike Kelly: you could try JustPLA directly
    Feb 4, 2016 at 9:02 AM - BryZad: I found cheap3dfilaments about 19 a roll and case pricing
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:03 AM - BryZad: I have to print the body panels for BB-8 and I got another request for a helmet from Australia
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:03 AM - danzca6: 12+ rolls...you really need another printer if you are printing that much ... haha
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:08 AM - Mike Kelly: Bbl meeting time
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:12 AM - daniel871: Have you looked into the ridiculously huge spools?

Feb 4, 2016 at 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: well its is from MakerButt
    Feb 4, 2016 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: That too.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 9:16 AM - danzca6: true
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:16 AM - daniel871: Probably require a bondtech to turn the spool.
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: lol no kidding
    Feb 4, 2016 at 9:17 AM - danzca6: or a hamster

Feb 4, 2016 at 9:17 AM - danzca6: I see a new filament feed system in the making
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: I have my spools on a 3/4 conduit put little olive oil on it for smooth turning.
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: paste wax works good too.
Feb 4, 2016 at 9:19 AM - toymaker: mg hows the folding going?

Feb 4, 2016 at 11:45 AM - daniel871: The author of that news article is going to be red-faced when someone points out that women have been in combat roles since 2010.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 11:46 AM - daniel871: Officially, anyway.
Feb 4, 2016 at 11:47 AM - daniel871: Though I guess the "in Tennessee" bit may be the key part of the whole thing.
Feb 4, 2016 at 12:02 PM - jbigler1986: Oh yeah. The bill is getting close to 6k
Feb 4, 2016 at 12:03 PM - jbigler1986: Way more than it should be

Feb 4, 2016 at 2:19 PM - jbigler1986: I have it installed. Messed with it for about 10 minutes before I stopped
Feb 4, 2016 at 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder how much that costs
    Feb 4, 2016 at 3:31 PM - jbigler1986: Not sure
Feb 4, 2016 at 3:52 PM - Bill Monroe: what's interesting is that is an Autodesk product made for Solidworks
Feb 4, 2016 at 3:52 PM - Bill Monroe: although they may have bought the HSMworks software just too piss off Dussault
    Feb 4, 2016 at 3:52 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
Feb 4, 2016 at 3:55 PM - BryZad: Lol just making sure mike
Feb 4, 2016 at 3:57 PM - BryZad: Your question on my bb-8 build I have the frame printed for the ball and waiting on white and orange filament for body panels
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:02 PM - NFOsec: Bryz: so, you purchased a DIY kit or are you doing open source without source? :)
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:04 PM - NFOsec: Willie? You still here?
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:06 PM - NFOsec: let me rephrase. Bill, William, -2.0 are you here?
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:07 PM - BryZad: Nfo haven't really sorted out all the electronics yet
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:07 PM - NFOsec: ah. I'm sure that has to be a blast...
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:07 PM - NFOsec: well, when in doubt fix it before you start. :)
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:08 PM - BryZad: Was thinking of using a audurio and a blue tooth sheild
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:08 PM - BryZad: And like a Xbox controller
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:08 PM - NFOsec: I'm putting tgether a custom steam box using a Wagner 705 steamer. Thing is, I am looking for how I determine threads so I can create a Bluprint nylon custom thread connector for the end caps to the box.
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:08 PM - NFOsec: yeah, that would be fun.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 4:09 PM - NFOsec: wiring schema too --
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:09 PM - BryZad: Looking at motor controllers
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:10 PM - NFOsec: when you can, send me a link to that BB you were off of, a friend had asked me, I only mentioned the kickstarter, I wasn't sure if they had their own such as bigbox.com or org or...
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:13 PM - BryZad: The link to big box printer ?
    Feb 4, 2016 at 4:13 PM - NFOsec: yeah.
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:14 PM - BryZad: E3d has a link at the top right to it
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:15 PM - NFOsec: ok, will look there.
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:15 PM - BryZad: I don't think they releaced the files for it
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:16 PM - NFOsec: I have a Wagner 705 steamer that has a nylon male thread coming out of the handle devices, I want to print a longer male thread with a coupler for the end cap of my steam box. how does one "design" a thread, pitch, etc..
Feb 4, 2016 at 4:16 PM - NFOsec: yeah, I'm sure they won't for a while... maybe after round two, or June.
Feb 4, 2016 at 7:09 PM - daniel871: Quick first impression of the Monoprice printer we've talked about: Holy Shit. This thing both has me giggling over how quick/easy setup and first print was and mad over how much trouble I had with the R1.
    Feb 4, 2016 at 7:37 PM - danzca6: any pics yet?
Feb 4, 2016 at 7:38 PM - danzca6: glad to hear how well it is working out for such a budget printer

Feb 4, 2016 8:01 PM - Schlomo: which one did you get?
Feb 4, 2016 8:01 PM - Schlomo: the dual extrusion one?
    Feb 4, 2016 8:14 PM - daniel871: The cheapo $350 one.
Feb 4, 2016 8:15 PM - daniel871: I'll post some time lapses after I move the octopi to it and get my S3D profile set up properly.
Feb 4, 2016 8:25 PM - danzca6: is it pretty sturdy and is it quieter than the Robo...when the robo worked ;)
Feb 5, 2016 4:04 AM - daniel871: Yes to both. The steel frame is a great deal more rigid and the actual printing noise level is super quiet compared to the R1 back when it worked.
    Feb 5, 2016 4:07 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Feb 5, 2016 4:07 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Feb 5, 2016 4:08 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Feb 5, 2016 4:10 AM - daniel871: I really like how that Z-axis assembly is put together. Didn't capture it in the picture, but the tops of the smooth rods and the ends of the threaded rods both run into some fixtures at the top end that hold them rigidly in line with the bottom mounting. This thing is like a rock compared to the R1.
Feb 5, 2016 4:12 AM - daniel871: Also, those bed-leveling adjusting wingnuts will probably be replaced by loc-nuts when I get a chance to dig around in the hardware in the shop and find some M3 loc-nuts. Then I'll (theoretically) just adjust the bed levelling once and call it a day.
    Feb 5, 2016 4:44 AM - jbigler1986: Nice. Good find there
    Feb 5, 2016 5:53 AM - danzca6: wow...very nice find for $350
Feb 5, 2016 5:54 AM - danzca6: I'd like to see how it compares to the new R1 you will get, eventually, and the BB. For less than half the cost of either of those, that makes for a nice starter printer
Feb 5, 2016 5:55 AM - danzca6: are those rigid couplers on the Z? I like the fact that there is a lot of steel as well
Feb 5, 2016 5:56 AM - danzca6: not sure if you have an e3v6 laying around, but that might be a good thing to swap into this since the stock looks to only handle 230C
Feb 5, 2016 5:57 AM - danzca6: thanks for sharing daniel...like to hear more about it as you get more prints done with it
Feb 5, 2016 6:23 AM - jim3Dbot: Nice purchase Daniel, downloaded manual.......8"x 8" bed is far off of the usable robo platform......$349 free ship, wow
    Feb 5, 2016 6:24 AM - jim3Dbot: Not far off
Feb 5, 2016 6:45 AM - daniel871: I'll have to look at the couplers again to make sure they're actually rigid, but yeah, they appear to be. The whole "ten minute" assembly process was super easy. Maybe three minutes putting the actual frame together and plugging the wires in (the chain guide wires were already plugged in, only the stepper and thermistor wires needed plugging in). The rest was spent doing the paper-levelling setup with the wingnuts and moving the head around.
Feb 5, 2016 6:46 AM - daniel871: I like that the printer has a hard home position that doesn't depend on the bed, and that it's theoretically possible to get a good solid bed levelling done, lock it in and then be basically set unless the printer gets knocked over or something.
Feb 5, 2016 6:59 AM - daniel871: Oh, and I got a text this morning with a tracking number out of California, so apparently I'll be getting the R1+Plus on 2/10 or thereabout (depending on how long it takes FedEx Ground to get out here).
Feb 5, 2016 6:59 AM - daniel871: I figure the Monoprice will be my "filament that can be printed at 230C or less" printer and I'll use the R1+Plus for the PET/etc. types that have to be 250C.
    Feb 5, 2016 7:51 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Feb 5, 2016 8:20 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning everyone.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:09 AM - toymaker: yooo
    Feb 5, 2016 9:13 AM - BryZad: Morning
    Feb 5, 2016 9:17 AM - WheresWaldo: slow day...
Feb 5, 2016 9:22 AM - daniel871: Probably more likely that everyone is scrambling around at work and only gets to look here for a minute or two when they take a break.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:29 AM - WheresWaldo: Or... it's a slow day! :)
Feb 5, 2016 9:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan saw your pictures of the Monoprice printer, question: Why another printer with a sliding bed? It's a Prusa based design, correct?
Feb 5, 2016 9:32 AM - WheresWaldo: You really need one of those cheap AliExpress Kossel Delta printers instead.
Feb 5, 2016 9:37 AM - daniel871: I mainly got it as more of a "Why not?" purchase since it was only $350 and I'd get it in two days vs. the near-Robo wait times for a printer shipping.
Feb 5, 2016 9:38 AM - WheresWaldo: I bypassed the slow Robo shipping when I bought mine from BestBuy. Got my Spider almost done, just reprinting a couple of parts.
Feb 5, 2016 9:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Next printer will be a Delta.
Feb 5, 2016 9:40 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I figure I'll be good for a while on printers as long as this one holds up and the R1+Plus isn't a hilarious trainwreck.
Feb 5, 2016 9:40 AM - WheresWaldo: So you won the CES contest?
    Feb 5, 2016 9:40 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:40 AM - daniel871: Printer shipped yesterday.
Feb 5, 2016 9:41 AM - daniel871: And the tracking info says expected delivery is 2/10.
Feb 5, 2016 9:41 AM - daniel871: That's a lot of time for someone to drop kick it down the stairs at a FedEx shipping facility.
Feb 5, 2016 9:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Congrats, al least you will have a bunch of spare parts for it from the get go.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:42 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Feb 5, 2016 9:42 AM - daniel871: I'm going to strip the R1 of all of it's electronics and the enclosure and just put said enclosure and LCD on the new one.
Feb 5, 2016 9:43 AM - daniel871: Hopefully the contours of the enclosure will still match up.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:43 AM - daniel871: :p
Feb 5, 2016 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah they're not chaging the enclosure, it's crazy expensive
    Feb 5, 2016 9:49 AM - donhuevo: howdy
    Feb 5, 2016 9:51 AM - Mike Kelly: hey
    Feb 5, 2016 9:51 AM - donhuevo: how's your baby?
    Feb 5, 2016 9:52 AM - daniel871: Huh?
Feb 5, 2016 9:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Don, MK; howdy.
Feb 5, 2016 9:54 AM - daniel871: They should have saved that commercial for the Superbowl.
Feb 5, 2016 9:56 AM - WheresWaldo: MK, you see that Thomas Sanladerer did a BigBox build video.
Feb 5, 2016 9:56 AM - daniel871: He posted it the other day.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:57 AM - WheresWaldo: I see that 02/03
    Feb 5, 2016 9:57 AM - donhuevo: hey Waldo
    Feb 5, 2016 9:58 AM - WheresWaldo: Don, how's it hangin'?
    Feb 5, 2016 9:58 AM - donhuevo: it hangs
Feb 5, 2016 9:59 AM - donhuevo: got to do something useful with the printer last night
Feb 5, 2016 9:59 AM - donhuevo: replaced my sink-mount soap dispenser flange
Feb 5, 2016 10:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Cool, always good to print something useful instead of all the knick knacks or calibration items or printer upgrades that we usually print.
Feb 5, 2016 10:02 AM - donhuevo: this thing... [IMG]
Feb 5, 2016 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: man e3d's next product is super cool
Feb 5, 2016 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: don my baby's doing good
Feb 5, 2016 10:05 AM - WheresWaldo: Are you talking about the PT100 thermal resistor?
Feb 5, 2016 10:05 AM - donhuevo: glad to hear it
Feb 5, 2016 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: she's getting a bit too much energy so i think i need to give her some sedatives
Feb 5, 2016 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: na waldo, it's something they haven't announced yet
    Feb 5, 2016 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: but it's real slick
Feb 5, 2016 10:06 AM - jbigler1986: Robo said the same thing. Hahaha
Feb 5, 2016 10:17 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah but i actually have this one in my possession ;)
Feb 5, 2016 10:17 AM - donhuevo: I think you REALLY want to tell us what it is
    Feb 5, 2016 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: i do but i can't yet
Feb 5, 2016 10:18 AM - donhuevo: the Chinese might be listening. I get it.
Feb 5, 2016 10:23 AM - Mike Kelly: don't want to steal their thunder either
Feb 5, 2016 10:25 AM - danzca6: so...is there a date when this will be announced mr tease
Feb 5, 2016 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i think feb 17th is the date
Feb 5, 2016 10:26 AM - danzca6: ah, the best day of the year
Feb 5, 2016 10:27 AM - danzca6: can't wait, but only have less than 2 weeks to save up..hope it is cheap :)
Feb 5, 2016 10:29 AM - donhuevo: that's an answerable question... what's the expected street value?
Feb 5, 2016 10:30 AM - danzca6: MK, what did you use for your threaded rod on the CNC? Did you just use a standard 5/16 or did you get something like the TR8*4 that is on the new Robos
Feb 5, 2016 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i used the lead screw from my R1.6
    Feb 5, 2016 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: M8
Feb 5, 2016 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm i don't know what they're going to charge for it unfortunately
Feb 5, 2016 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: making a wild ass guess I'd say between 50-80 quid
    Feb 5, 2016 10:42 AM - donhuevo: interesting
    Feb 5, 2016 10:44 AM - donhuevo: sounds like a bondtech competitor
    Feb 5, 2016 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: Add a laser to the bigbox
Feb 5, 2016 11:42 AM - daniel871: M3 Thermocouple for the v6 instead of the thermistor, that way it can be an easy swap out for a newbie that balks at the idea of figuring out the PT100 setup.
Feb 5, 2016 11:43 AM - daniel871: Because a random piece of computer board with a circuit on it is scary, or something.
Feb 5, 2016 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: daniel they came up with a better idea for the thermistor
Feb 5, 2016 12:15 PM - danzca6: did you get the inside scoupe because of your bb purchase?
Feb 5, 2016 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: na i just have a good relationship with their company
Feb 5, 2016 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: beta testing and whatnot
    Feb 5, 2016 12:18 PM - danzca6: lucky guy
Feb 5, 2016 12:22 PM - donhuevo: so is it doing as well as the bondtech?
Feb 5, 2016 12:29 PM - daniel871: Oh yeah, the Bondtech. I guess I need to find the direct drive mount STL for printing for the R1+Plus to replace the Wade when it fails.
Feb 5, 2016 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: just make a printed wades
Feb 5, 2016 12:30 PM - daniel871: The Monoprice printer came with some extra pieces of PTFE tubing. I'm assuming that's to replace what's inside the current hotend when that eventually wears out/fails?

    Feb 5, 2016 12:31 PM - daniel871: MK10 extruder assembly.
    Feb 5, 2016 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Feb 5, 2016 12:32 PM - daniel871: Wish there was a way to be slick about it and source a small length of aluminum tubing or something to replace it with that would actually work.
Feb 5, 2016 12:33 PM - daniel871: More to eliminate the issue of it wearing out than anything with temperature limits.
Feb 5, 2016 12:38 PM - daniel871: Oh. the SD card that came with the printer came with a version of Cura that had the machine profile already defined by default, as well as some default slicing settings. How hard is it to pull that profile out of the Cura installation and upload it to, say Octoprint?
Feb 5, 2016 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: sounds like it would be p easy
Feb 5, 2016 1:07 PM - daniel871: Yeah, it should be. Was just wondering if anyone here may have done it (wish I could go straight to having Simplify3D running as an add-on under Octopi, but that won't happen).
Feb 5, 2016 1:26 PM - KTMDirtFace: Is there cheaper options for nozzles for my E3DV6 the E3D nozzles are quite expensive...but I havn't ruined one yet so I guess thats good.
Feb 5, 2016 1:27 PM - danzca6: man...I was wondering what to give the wife for valentines day...http://robo3d.com/heart-flowers-valentines-special/
Feb 5, 2016 1:29 PM - danzca6: why do 3d printer companies advertise Fusion 360 trial free for a year? Unless you are using the printer for a business that makes more than 100K then it is free anyway
    Feb 5, 2016 1:31 PM - danzca6: KTM, they are only $10 http://printedsolid.com/collections.../e3d-v6-replacement-nozzle?variant=4031237955
    Feb 5, 2016 1:31 PM - AxisLab: Daniel http://www.micro-swiss.com/#!product-page/cv9c/29551477-6081-c30f-04fe-cece31e3ba6f
Feb 5, 2016 1:32 PM - KTMDirtFace: Danzca6, yea thats where I got a couple spares. But I can buy regular MK8's for my replicator 2 for like $5 for 5 of them on amazon.
Feb 5, 2016 1:33 PM - danzca6: do you print with carbon fiber or other type of filled filament?
    Feb 5, 2016 1:33 PM - KTMDirtFace: no.
    Feb 5, 2016 1:34 PM - danzca6: then they should last a long time
Feb 5, 2016 1:34 PM - KTMDirtFace: Yea they do until they get really gummed up.. and I hate cleaning them so i just put new ones on lol.
Feb 5, 2016 1:35 PM - danzca6: I bought the cleaning filament from PS and use that ever so often to keep it cleaned out
    Feb 5, 2016 1:35 PM - KTMDirtFace: i should try that.
    Feb 5, 2016 1:35 PM - danzca6: about the same $ as a nozzle, but...
    Feb 5, 2016 1:35 PM - daniel871: Less work?
    Feb 5, 2016 1:36 PM - danzca6: yeah, less work indeed
    Feb 5, 2016 1:36 PM - danzca6: I just run about 100mm through
    Feb 5, 2016 1:36 PM - danzca6: http://printedsolid.com/collections/1-75mm-filament/products/extruder-cleaning-filament
Feb 5, 2016 1:38 PM - danzca6: really helps when changing colors so you don't get bleed over
Feb 5, 2016 1:38 PM - KTMDirtFace: Cool, i'll try. amazon has the Esun cleaning filament too.
Feb 5, 2016 1:41 PM - danzca6: daniel...I see Robo had the hex hot end for $39 if they ever come back in stock. Not sure if that will swap into the new printer or not. http://store.robo3d.com/collections/parts/products/hexagon-hotend-full
Feb 5, 2016 1:41 PM - AxisLab: This is the all metal for the mk10 http://www.micro-swiss.com/#!product-page/cv9c/29551477-6081-c30f-04fe-cece31e3ba6f
    Feb 5, 2016 1:42 PM - danzca6: even cheaper ... nice
Feb 5, 2016 1:42 PM - danzca6: you said that there was another site for that printer Axis? what is the link?
    Feb 5, 2016 1:43 PM - AxisLab: There are quite a few.
    Feb 5, 2016 1:43 PM - AxisLab: Direct http://www.wanhao3dprinter.com/
Feb 5, 2016 1:44 PM - danzca6: is that a newer version than what is on monoprice
    Feb 5, 2016 1:44 PM - AxisLab: yes
    Feb 5, 2016 1:45 PM - danzca6: cool thanks
Feb 5, 2016 1:46 PM - danzca6: did anyone see the youtube giveaway for a wanhao printer?
Feb 5, 2016 1:47 PM - AxisLab: discount code is 8729 and mention the wanhao facebook group for 15% off
    Feb 5, 2016 1:48 PM - AxisLab: This one?
    Feb 5, 2016 1:48 PM - AxisLab:
    Feb 5, 2016 1:48 PM - danzca6: 3d printing nerd
Feb 5, 2016 1:49 PM - danzca6: not calling names, that is just the channel name. ;) Yes that's the one
Feb 5, 2016 1:50 PM - danzca6: giving away carbon fiber filament, matter hacker something, the printer, and even a stronger nozzle for the cf
Feb 5, 2016 1:51 PM - danzca6: worth an entry or two to try out
Feb 5, 2016 1:51 PM - danzca6: I like watching this guys videos. He has a ton of printers
    Feb 5, 2016 1:51 PM - AxisLab: I want his gmax
Feb 5, 2016 1:52 PM - AxisLab: the bigger one
    Feb 5, 2016 1:52 PM - danzca6: he has more than one I think
Feb 5, 2016 1:52 PM - danzca6: did you see the barnucles budda he printed on it
Feb 5, 2016 1:53 PM - AxisLab: yeah, and the yoda bowl PrintedS got.
Feb 5, 2016 1:53 PM - danzca6: he did...I'll have to look that one up
Feb 5, 2016 1:54 PM - danzca6: I saw barnucles and him do a vlog the other day. BN didn't mention the Robo as part of his 3d printer arsenal anymore
Feb 5, 2016 1:54 PM - danzca6: he will be getting a gmax soon though
Feb 5, 2016 1:55 PM - AxisLab: I think they took them back, after the ultimaker team up.
Feb 5, 2016 1:55 PM - danzca6: that would me nice to get one of everything of theirs for free
    Feb 5, 2016 1:56 PM - AxisLab:
Feb 5, 2016 1:57 PM - AxisLab: I think he should make one for MK too.
    Feb 5, 2016 1:58 PM - danzca6: man that's huge
    Feb 5, 2016 1:58 PM - danzca6: was that a single piece print
    Feb 5, 2016 2:00 PM - AxisLab: yep.
    Feb 5, 2016 2:00 PM - danzca6: oof...nice
Feb 5, 2016 2:02 PM - AxisLab: This is a print off my buddies custom bot too. Crazy. http://i.imgur.com/K8PxYrE.jpg
Feb 5, 2016 3:53 PM - Mike Kelly: AxisLab, no he returned them after a parting of ways
Feb 5, 2016 3:53 PM - Mike Kelly: robo3d did not want to work with barnacules
Feb 5, 2016 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: they sicked an intern on him and he wasn't able to help
Feb 5, 2016 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: then robo basically wanted him to say it was perfect and be completely biased, which he refused to do
Feb 5, 2016 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: but they seem to be doing fine sales wise without him
Feb 5, 2016 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: so eh
    Feb 5, 2016 4:11 PM - NFOsec: Greetings earthlings.
Feb 5, 2016 4:12 PM - NFOsec: Axis: That's one heck of a paneling job with all pegboard. :) Anyidea what your buddy did for thickness on that rocket?
Feb 5, 2016 4:33 PM - Mike Kelly: i believe the idea with that model is it's a single wall thickness
Feb 5, 2016 4:36 PM - max longstaff: so i had my printer probably a year now
Feb 5, 2016 4:37 PM - max longstaff: still not got it working properly XD
Feb 5, 2016 4:37 PM - Mike Kelly: what haven't you got working on it
Feb 5, 2016 4:38 PM - max longstaff: atm its printing but its stringy and falls apart on touch
Feb 5, 2016 4:38 PM - max longstaff: but before it wasnt printing at all
Feb 5, 2016 4:38 PM - max longstaff: the filament even at 0.3mm comes through very thin
Feb 5, 2016 4:39 PM - Mike Kelly: sounds like you need a new nozzle
Feb 5, 2016 4:39 PM - max longstaff: oh okay
Feb 5, 2016 4:39 PM - Mike Kelly: or cleaning
Feb 5, 2016 4:40 PM - max longstaff: im using an e3d nozzle would it be worth swapping the stock nozzle onto it?
Feb 5, 2016 4:42 PM - Mike Kelly: won't fit just buy a new one
    Feb 5, 2016 4:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i've got through like a dozen
Feb 5, 2016 4:43 PM - Mike Kelly: need to figure out a way to restore them
Feb 5, 2016 4:43 PM - max longstaff: ah okay i guess ill buy some more :p ty
Feb 5, 2016 4:43 PM - Mike Kelly: also invest in some cleaning filament and nozzle drills
Feb 5, 2016 4:44 PM - max longstaff: ye i probably should last timed i "cleaned" it which was probably bad i just heated on a flame and it all oozed out
Feb 5, 2016 4:58 PM - danzca6: just watched 3D Printing Nerd's review of the Wanhao i3 (very similar to monoprice printer daniel got). I can't believe the quality for the price. Very tempting for a second printer for my kids to use.
    Feb 5, 2016 5:00 PM - Mike Kelly: agreed
    Feb 5, 2016 5:00 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a super nice printer
Feb 5, 2016 5:01 PM - danzca6: yeah, I will be recommending this one to my family members that want to get into the game
Feb 5, 2016 5:01 PM - danzca6: maybe I'll win the one he is giving away
Feb 5, 2016 5:35 PM - daniel871: Okay, Monoprice update: Octopi setup and running torture test 3D Benchy that fills the build area of the printer.
    Feb 5, 2016 5:35 PM - daniel871: S3D claims it'll take 22 hours, we'll see how it goes.
Feb 5, 2016 5:35 PM - max longstaff: had a wanhao as my first print good quality prints but printer died after 2 months
Feb 5, 2016 5:46 PM - max longstaff: oh that wanhao is cheap might buy it
Feb 5, 2016 5:47 PM - daniel871: The one I have is the one sold by Monoprice, not sure who actually made it, but I've been nothing but impressed by the quality of this printer, especially for the $350 price tag.
Feb 5, 2016 5:48 PM - max longstaff: i was very happy with my wanhao duplicator 4x at the time payed £750
    Feb 5, 2016 5:48 PM - daniel871: https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=107&cp_id=10724&cs_id=1072403&p_id=13860&seq=1&format=2
Feb 5, 2016 5:48 PM - daniel871: Not sure how much that'll cost in your moon money.
Feb 5, 2016 5:50 PM - max longstaff: well thats £250 but with tax ect back to £350 :p

Feb 5, 2016 9:10 PM - Cory Harpell: Thanks! I changed my 254 by accident!
Feb 5, 2016 9:12 PM - danzca6: np, glad it helped. I don't use MC anymore, so I was glad to see I still had it installed
Feb 5, 2016 9:14 PM - Cory Harpell: I use Cura for other printers, but just got my robo yesterday, wanted to test it out with their software and settings first.
Feb 5, 2016 9:15 PM - danzca6: yeah understand...I used it for a couple weeks at first to. There is a good write up under software for setting up Cura for the Robo. I know the new version has a profile for the Robo, but a good read if you are having issues
Feb 5, 2016 9:17 PM - Cory Harpell: I will take a look, thanks for the info.
Feb 5, 2016 9:20 PM - danzca6: what other printers do you have?
Feb 5, 2016 9:22 PM - Cory Harpell: I have a CTC dual extruder (Makerbot knockoff) Printrbot plus, Printrbot simple, and 2 Printrbot plays.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:22 PM - Cory Harpell: and a DIY printer...
    Feb 5, 2016 9:24 PM - danzca6: wow, that's a nice collection
Feb 5, 2016 9:24 PM - danzca6: my dad has the printrbot simple (wood version)
    Feb 5, 2016 9:25 PM - danzca6: they make a nice machine
Feb 5, 2016 9:25 PM - Cory Harpell: I love the Play, its only 4x4 bed, but for 399 its a great machine.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:27 PM - danzca6: You should check out this one https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=107&cp_id=10724&cs_id=1072403&p_id=13860&seq=1&format=2
Feb 5, 2016 9:27 PM - Mike Glass: hey dan

Feb 5, 2016 9:31 PM - Mike Glass: haha yea, you wont ever sleep again..lol
Feb 5, 2016 9:31 PM - danzca6: I see you can use add a laser to it. not as nice as yours, but might get me started.
Feb 5, 2016 9:32 PM - Mike Glass: yea, i was going to do that but the speed and power where the determining factor
    Feb 5, 2016 9:33 PM - danzca6: If I get as hooked as I think, I will be upgrading
Feb 5, 2016 9:34 PM - Mike Glass: there is just so much you can do its overwhelming me..lol
Feb 5, 2016 9:34 PM - Mike Glass: I still yet to do metal etching
Feb 5, 2016 9:35 PM - danzca6: I have a family member that bought the laser you have. He has been doing etching on the ARs he builds. Saw a video last weekend of it, and did great
Feb 5, 2016 9:35 PM - danzca6: He even did beer bottle caps with his company logo on it
Feb 5, 2016 9:36 PM - Mike Glass: well If I did all metal I would get a galvo system so much faster and accurate. but expensive.
Feb 5, 2016 9:38 PM - Mike Glass: if you get one get this. http://www.cnccheap.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=68
Feb 5, 2016 9:38 PM - danzca6: there is always something bigger to spend our money
Feb 5, 2016 9:38 PM - Mike Glass: then you dont have to worry about something to put it on, and has bigger bed and bed.
Feb 5, 2016 9:39 PM - danzca6: is that the one that's one up from yours
Feb 5, 2016 9:40 PM - danzca6: the chinese on the keypad is great :)
Feb 5, 2016 9:41 PM - Mike Glass: yea, mine was like that had to change it to engrish.
    Feb 5, 2016 9:42 PM - danzca6: so tempting
Feb 5, 2016 9:42 PM - danzca6: is the laser and cabinet the only diff from yours?
    Feb 5, 2016 9:42 PM - danzca6: and size
Feb 5, 2016 9:43 PM - Mike Glass: yea and power
    Feb 5, 2016 9:44 PM - Mike Glass: its a 60w vs 50w but mine is actually a 40
Feb 5, 2016 9:44 PM - danzca6: well someday...do you use your MPCNC much anymore?
Feb 5, 2016 9:44 PM - Montravont: heyo. long time no see

Feb 5, 2016 9:45 PM - Montravont: having trouble getting the internet face to work
Feb 5, 2016 9:45 PM - Mike Glass: use it ton in the summer though
    Feb 5, 2016 9:45 PM - Montravont: can someone go to montrapi.ddns.net ?
Feb 5, 2016 9:46 PM - Mike Glass: nothing mont
    Feb 5, 2016 9:46 PM - danzca6: times out for me
    Feb 5, 2016 9:46 PM - Montravont: yeah... that's what I'm getting to

Feb 5, 2016 9:46 PM - Montravont: should bring up the stream page
Feb 5, 2016 9:46 PM - Montravont: just can't get the control page to come up
Feb 5, 2016 9:49 PM - Montravont: tried the default config for haproxy; the modified config I found on the octoprint pages
Feb 5, 2016 9:49 PM - Montravont: have the ports forwarded, but still no dice
Feb 5, 2016 9:53 PM - Mike Glass: you cant get it locally
Feb 5, 2016 9:54 PM - Montravont: locally I'm good, but for internet access outside the home

    Feb 5, 2016 9:56 PM - Montravont: netgear n600 (wndr3700)
Feb 5, 2016 9:57 PM - Mike Glass: you have nat 8080 to port 80 to the it
    Feb 5, 2016 9:58 PM - Montravont: hmmm... I have forwarded 80 & 8080 & 5000 to the pi
Feb 5, 2016 9:59 PM - Montravont: not sure if that's what you mean
Feb 5, 2016 10:03 PM - Mike Glass: hmm but 80 isnt working just 8080
Feb 5, 2016 10:03 PM - Mike Glass: do you have any other nats that have port 80
Feb 5, 2016 10:04 PM - Montravont: nope... had it forwarded previously, but removed the old one
Feb 5, 2016 10:04 PM - Montravont: just the pi forward now
Feb 6, 2016 6:04 AM - James Harry: @Montravont: Do you have remote management enabled on the netgear n600? If so, what port?

Feb 6, 2016 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: it was pointless
Feb 6, 2016 9:42 AM - bamhm182: At the same time, I really don't feel like opening that can of worms right now...

    Feb 6, 2016 9:44 AM - toymaker: u need a 5 axis laser now , mg
Feb 6, 2016 9:52 AM - bamhm182: You guys seen the Amazon Dash buttons? They're making it WAY to easy to spend all of your money at Amazon these days, haha
Feb 6, 2016 9:52 AM - toymaker: blown head gasket is better than cracked and missing block
Feb 6, 2016 9:52 AM - toymaker: i had the latter on my turbo integra =\
Feb 6, 2016 9:53 AM - toymaker: which was my fault for not getting the block sleeved.... and running the amount of boost i was
    Feb 6, 2016 9:54 AM - bamhm182: Yeeeeah, that is true
Feb 6, 2016 9:55 AM - toymaker: i think that was the last time i cried lol
Feb 6, 2016 9:55 AM - toymaker: i was crossing my fingers it was the head gasket
Feb 6, 2016 9:58 AM - toymaker: i still have my t3/t4 turbo , spearco intercoolers, wastegate, down pipe, injectors, head
Feb 6, 2016 10:01 AM - bamhm182: Sounds like a pretty valid time to cry
    Feb 6, 2016 10:01 AM - bamhm182: Thinking about getting a new block someday?
    Feb 6, 2016 10:48 AM - jbigler1986: Hola peeps
    Feb 6, 2016 10:52 AM - bamhm182: Hey jb, how's it going?
Feb 6, 2016 10:58 AM - jbigler1986: Good. Just making some shelf brackets for a few people from the cnc
    Feb 6, 2016 10:59 AM - jbigler1986: You?
Feb 6, 2016 11:26 AM - bamhm182: You get one of the MPCNCs too, or do you have an actual CNC now?
Feb 6, 2016 11:26 AM - bamhm182: Not a whole lot. Trying to get around to finishing up this raspberry pi gameboy I put on the backburners a LONG time ago, but got sucked into the internet
    Feb 6, 2016 11:28 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Feb 6, 2016 11:28 AM - jbigler1986: That's what I have
    Feb 6, 2016 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: Except I don't have that VFD
Feb 6, 2016 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: Or controlled box is what they call it there
    Feb 6, 2016 11:29 AM - bamhm182: Nice, how're you liking it?
Feb 6, 2016 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: Love it. Use it almost daily
    Feb 6, 2016 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: Had it for a while now
Feb 6, 2016 11:31 AM - bamhm182: Trying to decide what my tax return purchase is going to be
Feb 6, 2016 11:39 AM - bamhm182: I'm thinking that these days I would use the earbuds more, but the MPCNC is something that I have been wanting for a while now.
    Feb 6, 2016 11:52 AM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. I found my cnc at a pawnshop
Feb 6, 2016 11:53 AM - jbigler1986: Had everything but the control board. Paid 300 for it. Then bought a psu, arduino uno and cnc shield
    Feb 6, 2016 11:54 AM - jbigler1986: Been working beautifully for months
    Feb 6, 2016 11:54 AM - jbigler1986: I would suggest the mpcnc
    Feb 6, 2016 11:54 AM - jbigler1986: It can make you money
Feb 6, 2016 11:56 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG] that was what I cut last weekend.
    Feb 6, 2016 11:58 AM - jbigler1986: Still have both printers?
Feb 6, 2016 12:11 PM - JasonSolves: Don't you hate it when cura updates, and your start gcode goes missing....
Feb 6, 2016 12:11 PM - JasonSolves: and you spend 5 prints trying to figure out why the offset seems so off
Feb 6, 2016 12:20 PM - jbigler1986: Well the robo likes to just ignore offset sometimes
    Feb 6, 2016 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: But yeah. I have my settings saved in a spreadsheet
    Feb 6, 2016 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: I use S3D so I have my profiles saved elsewhere too
Feb 6, 2016 12:21 PM - JasonSolves: I really want to do that
    Feb 6, 2016 12:22 PM - JasonSolves: but $150 is steep
Feb 6, 2016 12:22 PM - JasonSolves: I wish they gave it away for 3 prints
Feb 6, 2016 12:22 PM - JasonSolves: then you are locked out
    Feb 6, 2016 12:22 PM - JasonSolves: heck 1 print
Feb 6, 2016 12:28 PM - JasonSolves: ok, I lied. the 2 week trial thing got me
Feb 6, 2016 12:28 PM - JasonSolves: Trying it now
Feb 6, 2016 12:39 PM - JasonSolves: well, buying it now, I guess I have to wait 12 hour for the download..
    Feb 6, 2016 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: I could have hooked you up
    Feb 6, 2016 12:44 PM - jbigler1986: PM me
Feb 6, 2016 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: welp the jerks at the cabinet place ordered us a 24Lx36H instead of 36Lx24H cabinet
Feb 6, 2016 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: they made it seem like we're the assholes

Feb 6, 2016 2:06 PM - daniel871: Using that cheap christmas tablecloth to protect the furniture it's on.
    Feb 6, 2016 2:07 PM - daniel871: It's an 8" x 8" x 7" print area so.
Feb 6, 2016 2:07 PM - daniel871: Huge Benchy, but not as huge as the Big Box could do.
Feb 6, 2016 2:08 PM - daniel871: Once it's done I'll be uploading a timelapse to my youtube account with the handful of other timelapses I have.
Feb 6, 2016 4:20 PM - KTMDirtFace: I might buy a 3rd printer, but this has me interested. http://www.boxzy.com/ doing some aluminmum milling for my dirt bikes and snomowobiles would be sweet, but maybe i should just get a mill/cnc?
Feb 6, 2016 4:24 PM - KTMDirtFace: The other printers i'm looking at are the bigbox, or robo's new r2
    Feb 6, 2016 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: Don't count on getting the R2 anytime soon
    Feb 6, 2016 5:18 PM - KTMDirtFace: They say april/may for the R2
    Feb 6, 2016 5:50 PM - daniel871: They said April/May 2015 back in 2014, too.
    Feb 6, 2016 5:51 PM - KTMDirtFace: lol
    Feb 6, 2016 5:51 PM - KTMDirtFace: noted
Feb 6, 2016 6:58 PM - danzca6: the features for the boxzy are interesting, but I would not want to 3d print in a machine that is also used for cnc. cnc makes a mess. 3d printing and laser in one is nice.

Feb 6, 2016 7:12 PM - daniel871: There is a short blackout because the lights were off at night early in the video.
    Feb 6, 2016 7:14 PM - danzca6: i still can't believe that printer for that price
Feb 6, 2016 7:15 PM - danzca6: your not going to put return to sender on the prize printer are you
    Feb 6, 2016 7:15 PM - daniel871: Nah. I figure I'll give it a chance to redeem itself with the T-glase I still have.
Feb 6, 2016 7:18 PM - daniel871: And here's a pic. Would be better if I didn't have that tremor in my nerves but whatever. [IMG]
Feb 6, 2016 7:20 PM - danzca6: looks great. top looks pretty shiny and smooth, but that might be part of the blur

Feb 6, 2016 7:25 PM - Mike Kelly: great daniel
    Feb 6, 2016 7:27 PM - KTMDirtFace: nice
Feb 6, 2016 7:35 PM - daniel871: Haha, no, it's a red glow-in-the-dark PLA I plan to try on one of those gnome birdhouse things after I print a couple other knicknacks.
