Feb 10, 2016 12:18 PM - JasonSolves: is ryan not romantic enough?
Feb 10, 2016 12:19 PM - daniel871: Morena Baccarin takes a strap-on to Ryan Reynolds in it. Is that not romantic?
Feb 10, 2016 12:19 PM - Bill Monroe: no, not really
Feb 10, 2016 12:19 PM - Bill Monroe: Dinner at Mr A's http://www.asrestaurant.com/ then dancing.
Feb 10, 2016 12:20 PM - daniel871: Not as the Valentine's date, obviously. Just to see the movie.
Feb 10, 2016 12:20 PM - Bill Monroe: LBD, a day at the SPA. Hair, the whole shlahmeel
Feb 10, 2016 12:21 PM - Bill Monroe: you married Dan?
Feb 10, 2016 12:21 PM - daniel871: The whole "person that isn't hip and doesn't know how to be cool"?
    Feb 10, 2016 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.itv.com/news/london/2016...security-and-strorms-through-shopping-centre/
    Feb 10, 2016 12:21 PM - daniel871: Wait I'm getting the phonetics mixed up with http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shlameal
Feb 10, 2016 12:22 PM - daniel871: Still had a less abrasive mental definition than urbandictionary did.
Feb 10, 2016 12:22 PM - Bill Monroe: dont spend too much time on it
    Feb 10, 2016 12:27 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.trinus3d.com/ thatsalotta lead screws
Feb 10, 2016 12:27 PM - daniel871: Nah, the whole cancer thing ended the relationship I had going, and women around here around my age have no interest in a guy that's sterile.
Feb 10, 2016 12:27 PM - Bill Monroe: lots of them do.. just gotta find one that doesnt want kids
Feb 10, 2016 12:27 PM - daniel871: I saw that printer on FB and started laughing at how small the print area is.
    Feb 10, 2016 12:27 PM - Bill Monroe: as in 2.0
Feb 10, 2016 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: how big is the tiko?
Feb 10, 2016 12:28 PM - jim3Dbot: Jason....Screen on bed, with relation to heater, hit & miss by robo.....heating your bed w/pla actually creates a better chance of warping...imagine your print hot over the heater & cool where it overhangs..causes warping on ends.....better..no heat on bed, for large prints..
Feb 10, 2016 12:29 PM - JasonSolves: yeah, I will play with that more
Feb 10, 2016 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: looks like tiko is 125x125
    Feb 10, 2016 12:29 PM - daniel871: What's the age difference between you and 2.0, Bill?
    Feb 10, 2016 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Feb 10, 2016 12:29 PM - daniel871: 125 diameter x 125 tall?
    Feb 10, 2016 12:29 PM - Bill Monroe: 18
    Feb 10, 2016 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Feb 10, 2016 12:30 PM - daniel871: If I dated someone 18 years younger than me it would be more than a little creepy.
    Feb 10, 2016 12:30 PM - daniel871: Since I'm 34. :p
Feb 10, 2016 12:30 PM - Bill Monroe: well, find something that works for you
    Feb 10, 2016 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: /2+7
Feb 10, 2016 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: the math checks ou
Feb 10, 2016 12:31 PM - Bill Monroe: I didnt go looking for someone young enough to be my daughter, it just happened
    Feb 10, 2016 12:31 PM - daniel871: 25+ for me by that math.
Feb 10, 2016 12:32 PM - JasonSolves: thank Jim, I will try without heated bed
Feb 10, 2016 12:32 PM - daniel871: I can't go by that formula though, 20-somethings drive me insane with the stupid shit they want to do.
Feb 10, 2016 12:32 PM - Bill Monroe: the fact she's stunning was just a bonus
Feb 10, 2016 12:32 PM - JasonSolves: but the heated hairspray works sooo good
Feb 10, 2016 12:32 PM - daniel871: Heat the hairspray, then turn the heater off after the hairspray gets tacky.
Feb 10, 2016 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a bit sweeping daniel, don't limit your pool because of biase :)
Feb 10, 2016 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: there are definitely more mature 25 year olds than some 30 year olds
Feb 10, 2016 12:33 PM - daniel871: Not in the Deep South (tm).
    Feb 10, 2016 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Feb 10, 2016 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: well i can't help you there
Feb 10, 2016 12:33 PM - JasonSolves: they are far between anywhere in this county
Feb 10, 2016 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: oh man i just realized you probably have a whicked georgia accent huh
Feb 10, 2016 12:33 PM - daniel871: No, I spent too many years of my childhood in Florida to have a Georgia accent.
    Feb 10, 2016 12:34 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
    Feb 10, 2016 12:34 PM - jim3Dbot: Jason, try the hairspray....angle the print.....no bed heat....hopefully won't warp on ends...if it sticks.........
Feb 10, 2016 12:34 PM - JasonSolves: so you are on the Florida Georgia Line.
Feb 10, 2016 12:35 PM - JasonSolves: I think that is a band of some sort
Feb 10, 2016 12:35 PM - JasonSolves: this one seems to be working well
Feb 10, 2016 12:35 PM - daniel871: Oh yeah, I despise country music, so that eliminates a huge part of the dating pool because the music you like is a dealbreaker.
    Feb 10, 2016 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope there's a city name Florgia and Georida
Feb 10, 2016 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: like Texarkansas
Feb 10, 2016 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: and Texico
    Feb 10, 2016 12:36 PM - JasonSolves: just buy a orange car
Feb 10, 2016 12:36 PM - JasonSolves: but a cool flag on it
Feb 10, 2016 12:36 PM - JasonSolves: weld the doors shut
Feb 10, 2016 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: and find yourself a daisy
Feb 10, 2016 12:37 PM - daniel871: The reasons I despise most country music songs kind of overlaps with why I'd never have a car with a flag that is a rallying symbol for racists painted on it.
Feb 10, 2016 12:37 PM - jim3Dbot: Most important, watch that 1st layer, most important, should be dull & slightly flat...shiney & rounded...not good squash down....then it will stick absolutely...
Feb 10, 2016 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: sounds like it's time to move north daniel
Feb 10, 2016 12:38 PM - JasonSolves: no no, put a different flag on it
    Feb 10, 2016 12:38 PM - JasonSolves: they can't read anyway
    Feb 10, 2016 12:39 PM - daniel871: General Grant? [IMG]
    Feb 10, 2016 12:40 PM - JasonSolves: perfect
Feb 10, 2016 12:41 PM - daniel871: Or one that does this and call it the General Sherman: [IMG]
    Feb 10, 2016 12:43 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
Feb 10, 2016 12:45 PM - daniel871: Just got a text that the CES Robo has been delivered. I'll check it out this weekend and post in the CES thread I guess.
    Feb 10, 2016 12:49 PM - JeffTheMess: nice
    Feb 10, 2016 1:13 PM - Mike Kelly: grats
Feb 10, 2016 1:23 PM - max longstaff: installed a new hot end running a test print now so far looks all good
Feb 10, 2016 1:24 PM - JeffTheMess: which hot end did you get
Feb 10, 2016 1:24 PM - max longstaff: i already had an e3d v6 so i got a clone and exchanged certain parts
Feb 10, 2016 1:25 PM - BryZad: Did you heat the hotend a seat the heatsink heat break and heat block ?
Feb 10, 2016 1:26 PM - max longstaff: it was mostly preassembled
Feb 10, 2016 1:27 PM - JeffTheMess: yeah you have to preheat and tighten everything
Feb 10, 2016 1:29 PM - max longstaff: cool will do
Feb 10, 2016 1:31 PM - JeffTheMess: metal can contract and expand,so you may not have the best fit, yeah it may seem overkill but you never know
Feb 10, 2016 1:38 PM - max longstaff: hmm now i cant get it to extrude i probably fucked up already
Feb 10, 2016 1:38 PM - JeffTheMess: is it hot enough?
    Feb 10, 2016 1:39 PM - max longstaff: ye
Feb 10, 2016 1:39 PM - JeffTheMess: can you manually extrude it?
    Feb 10, 2016 1:41 PM - max longstaff: no :S
Feb 10, 2016 1:42 PM - JeffTheMess: so either your not hot enough or the hot end is clogged
Feb 10, 2016 1:42 PM - JeffTheMess: you have abs or pla?
Feb 10, 2016 1:42 PM - max longstaff: clogged? i litterally put the brand new hot end in a minute ago
    Feb 10, 2016 1:42 PM - max longstaff: pla
Feb 10, 2016 1:43 PM - JeffTheMess: I clogged my e3d for rushing so it can happen
Feb 10, 2016 1:44 PM - max longstaff: but i mean i put it in a good flow came out then it stopped
Feb 10, 2016 1:47 PM - JeffTheMess: run it at a higher temp like ~240-250 and see if it flow then

Feb 10, 2016 1:49 PM - max longstaff: cool i had it 220 ill try it though
Feb 10, 2016 1:49 PM - max longstaff: just taking the heatbreak off to see if it snapped filament somehow
    Feb 10, 2016 1:51 PM - danzca6: http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/E3D-v6_Assembly
Feb 10, 2016 1:56 PM - max longstaff: looks like its clogged up to the heatbreak :/
Feb 10, 2016 1:58 PM - JeffTheMess: clean it out put it back on preheat then tighten some more hope it helps :)
    Feb 10, 2016 1:59 PM - max longstaff: :)
Feb 10, 2016 2:03 PM - max longstaff: oh no my mistake
Feb 10, 2016 2:03 PM - max longstaff: their was filament inside snapped inside the bowden tube :O
Feb 10, 2016 2:03 PM - max longstaff: think the bowden tube shipped with the e3d clone might be too tight
Feb 10, 2016 2:04 PM - JeffTheMess: the inner dia. too tight?
Feb 10, 2016 2:04 PM - max longstaff: ye think so it was tight to push through initially
Feb 10, 2016 2:04 PM - BryZad: When it it heats up could make the hot end be loose and leak and not make enough pressure to extrude
Feb 10, 2016 2:22 PM - max longstaff: cleared that still not extruding :S
    Feb 10, 2016 2:27 PM - max longstaff: and stopped again :S
Feb 10, 2016 2:27 PM - max longstaff: oh i got it working forgot to mention :p
Feb 10, 2016 2:28 PM - max longstaff: seems to be sorted just had to adjust the tension it was griding through
    Feb 10, 2016 2:36 PM - jbigler1986: Sup fellas

    Feb 10, 2016 3:36 PM - JasonSolves: yes hairspray
    Feb 10, 2016 3:36 PM - JasonSolves: yes heated to 60c
    Feb 10, 2016 3:37 PM - jim3Dbot: Just worked this time?
Feb 10, 2016 3:37 PM - JasonSolves: first time that large
Feb 10, 2016 3:37 PM - JasonSolves: I am going to try no heat next
Feb 10, 2016 3:38 PM - jim3Dbot: No need, if you got success...........
Feb 10, 2016 3:39 PM - JasonSolves: I understand what you mean, though... I mean rather have it all heated (smaller prints) or non heated for larger prints
    Feb 10, 2016 3:40 PM - jim3Dbot: You got it Bro
Feb 10, 2016 3:44 PM - Mike Kelly: "referral program"

    Feb 10, 2016 3:45 PM - JasonSolves: indeed.
Feb 10, 2016 3:46 PM - JasonSolves: I have not gone to anything more exciting yet
    Feb 10, 2016 3:56 PM - JeffTheMess: cool
Feb 10, 2016 3:56 PM - JeffTheMess: your better off using hair spray and heated bed
    Feb 10, 2016 3:57 PM - JeffTheMess: works 99.99% of the time
Feb 10, 2016 5:54 PM - jbigler1986: Hey Jim do you want me to mail you the original IR sensor?

Feb 11, 2016 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: i made another iphone/ipad stand for my new office yesterday.. fell in love with bronze fill again...
Feb 11, 2016 5:06 AM - WheresWaldo: I have some Copperfill coming, INTSERVO added me to their filament beta so I get to try out the new eSUN filaments.
Feb 11, 2016 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: i like how the extra weight makes the stand so stable it handles the ipad easily... it *really* prints near perfect, and it taps and reams like fine composites
Feb 11, 2016 5:15 AM - WheresWaldo: I am thinking the copperfill will be similar. They are also sending me a sample of their new carbon fiber filled, it is nylon based rather than PLA or PETG.
Feb 11, 2016 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: im amazed no one seems to know about the electrcial interface of the Tormach toolchainger

Feb 11, 2016 5:50 AM - danzca6: Bill, using your toe for for touch id...now...I would have used something else. That way if 2.0 was trying to break into your phone while you slept you wouldn't be too upset waking up and catching her... ;)

Feb 11, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: she likes to try to get to facebook and post stuff as me
Feb 11, 2016 5:54 AM - danzca6: I do that to my sisters all the time when they leave there phone unattended. They will never learn to put a passcode on their phone
Feb 11, 2016 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: i used to put scarry selfies on my daughtes phone as save them as the desktop.. then post as her saying how she thought her dad was the best..
Feb 11, 2016 5:55 AM - danzca6: haha, that doesn't give it away or anything
Feb 11, 2016 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: "I just farted and it smells really good."
Feb 11, 2016 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: the comments her freinds would put up were hilarious
Feb 11, 2016 5:58 AM - danzca6: kind of reminds me of when I was a kid...no such tech back then, but my dad and I sounded the same on the phone. So my girlfriends would call and think he was me and start having a full conversation. It would be a bit of a surprise the next time I talked to them. So we had to start using a code to make sure they were talking to me. haha
Feb 11, 2016 5:58 AM - danzca6: man, he had some fun with it too...learned way too much about my relationships at times
Feb 11, 2016 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: i had a bit of a rep with her dorm mates as an unconventional dad :)

Feb 11, 2016 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: straight As .. huge social life.. has lifelong freinds now.. and a husband
    Feb 11, 2016 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: and Bachelors degree :)
Feb 11, 2016 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: and an MRS. degree
    Feb 11, 2016 6:05 AM - danzca6: I'd say she got her money's worth
    Feb 11, 2016 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: heh MY money's worth !
    Feb 11, 2016 6:06 AM - danzca6: haha...I was just making the correction
Feb 11, 2016 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: actually, with her grants, scholarships, on-campus PT jobs, and living in her finacee's campus-paid condo.. the whole 4 years only cost me 14K

Feb 11, 2016 4:13 PM - Printed Solid: it is.
Feb 11, 2016 4:14 PM - Printed Solid: tpe is kind of like saying plastic or rubber.
    Feb 11, 2016 4:14 PM - Printed Solid: it's not a specific polymer.
Feb 11, 2016 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: good to know
Feb 11, 2016 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: they say that shits good down to like -200F

Feb 11, 2016 5:55 PM - Schlomo: I had 2 cooling fans for PLA, but since I added my heated chamber i said screw it and took them off
Feb 11, 2016 5:55 PM - Mike Kelly: reminds me of daniels
Feb 11, 2016 5:55 PM - Mike Glass: I hate filament that requires fans
    Feb 11, 2016 5:55 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
Feb 11, 2016 5:55 PM - Schlomo: Thanks. I can keep 55c easily with a 100c heated bed and my 200w heater. My garage is around -2 to 0c right now
Feb 11, 2016 5:55 PM - Mike Glass: petg or abs baby
Feb 11, 2016 5:56 PM - Mike Kelly: designing for that fucking fan is the worst part about carriage design
Feb 11, 2016 5:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i hate the parts fan
Feb 11, 2016 5:56 PM - Schlomo: i had one fall off this carriage
Feb 11, 2016 5:56 PM - Schlomo: melted the wires to my heater block

    Feb 11, 2016 5:57 PM - Schlomo: Yeah
    Feb 11, 2016 5:57 PM - Mike Kelly: scary
Feb 11, 2016 5:57 PM - Schlomo: I keep 2 of those over stove fire extinguishers a foot above my printer to be safe

    Feb 11, 2016 8:05 PM - NFOsec: Evening folks.
    Feb 11, 2016 8:06 PM - NFOsec: MG: don't order a Bondtech please.
    Feb 11, 2016 8:06 PM - NFOsec: they suck. <snicker>
Feb 11, 2016 8:39 PM - Mike Glass: go back to bed sucker
    Feb 12, 2016 4:20 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Feb 12, 2016 4:30 AM - daniel871: Also, check out this 3d print-able prosthetic hand that went open source: http://exiii-hackberry.com/
    Feb 12, 2016 4:32 AM - daniel871: https://github.com/exiii/HACKberry
    Feb 12, 2016 4:34 AM - danzca6: that hand looks really cool
Feb 12, 2016 4:35 AM - danzca6: Wonder how much it would cost to build one
Feb 12, 2016 4:36 AM - danzca6: I know a couple people that are in need of one of these
Feb 12, 2016 4:37 AM - danzca6: so did you take the robo out of the box yet
Feb 12, 2016 4:55 AM - danzca6: btw, that door is super funny. I should take a pic of one from work that is ridiculous as well. Not that bad, but still a head scratcher. I'm off today, but will try to remember Monday.
Feb 12, 2016 5:08 AM - daniel871: Nah, Robo is still in the box.
Feb 12, 2016 5:08 AM - daniel871: I'll probably unbox it and check it out to make sure no parts are broken/whatever Saturday after I get back home from whatever I decide to do when I get up that morning.
Feb 12, 2016 5:09 AM - daniel871: Then move the LCD controller, feet and enclosure from the dead R1 to it.
Feb 12, 2016 6:32 AM - daniel871: Man, I talk about having a 3d printer for months and nobody gives a shit, I put the 3d Benchy that I printed the other day on top of my desk and people start losing their minds when they see it.
    Feb 12, 2016 7:02 AM - danzca6: does monoprice have a referral program ;)
    Feb 12, 2016 7:12 AM - daniel871: No.
Feb 12, 2016 7:13 AM - daniel871: Also, I may have killed the stock MK10 last night with this failed T-glase trial.
    Feb 12, 2016 7:13 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Feb 12, 2016 7:13 AM - daniel871: Stopped it when I checked on it and saw that it was at that location without extruding new filament.
Feb 12, 2016 7:14 AM - daniel871: Will find out tonight whether it's actually ruined or if there was a thin spot in the filament or whatever.
Feb 12, 2016 7:15 AM - daniel871: The predefined ABS profile in the control box has the nozzle going to 245 and bed going to 90, so I figured I'd give the T-glase a shot at the recommended print settings on Taulman's website.
Feb 12, 2016 7:15 AM - daniel871: Damnit. Looks like it was doing so well until it suddently wasn't, too.
    Feb 12, 2016 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Feb 12, 2016 7:58 AM - daniel871: Morning MK.
Feb 12, 2016 7:58 AM - daniel871: Day almost at the halfway over point. Phew.
Feb 12, 2016 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: lucly guy
Feb 12, 2016 7:59 AM - daniel871: I still like my Monoprice better than the R1 I got, but it's kind of like having to re-learn everything for print settings and stuff.
Feb 12, 2016 8:01 AM - daniel871: Would it hurt to keep an oiler in place for filaments other than PLA?
Feb 12, 2016 8:02 AM - daniel871: I know that discussion has been had about a dozen times, but since I'm throwing everything I "learned" on the R1 out the window I can't recall whether things like T-glase would be hurt by it or not.
Feb 12, 2016 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't really think an oiler hurts but it's hard to say
Feb 12, 2016 8:24 AM - BryZad: If you don't want your won RoBo Dan I will take it lol
Feb 12, 2016 8:46 AM - daniel871: I'm going to try to use it at some point, I just have zero expectations of it being any good. We'll know for sure when I get around to opening the box.
Feb 12, 2016 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: the r1+'s have been pretty consistently good
    Feb 12, 2016 8:55 AM - toymaker: yo
    Feb 12, 2016 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: yo
Feb 12, 2016 8:56 AM - toymaker: my rails will be here in about a hour..im about to break out my happy dance
    Feb 12, 2016 8:57 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Feb 12, 2016 9:03 AM - toymaker: other news.. have u guys read about the "discovery" of gravitational waves
Feb 12, 2016 9:07 AM - Mike Kelly: yup pretty cool
Feb 12, 2016 9:07 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd call it a confirmation rather than discovery
Feb 12, 2016 9:08 AM - toymaker: mk, have ever read about the michaelson moore experiment?
    Feb 12, 2016 9:09 AM - toymaker: opps... Michelson-Morley
    Feb 12, 2016 9:12 AM - Mike Kelly: don't think so
Feb 12, 2016 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: actually yes this looks familiar
Feb 12, 2016 9:15 AM - toymaker: i find it interesting that they use a similair approach for detecting these gravitational waves
    Feb 12, 2016 9:17 AM - Mike Kelly: right
Feb 12, 2016 9:18 AM - Schlomo: What gears do you guys use for your extruders?
    Feb 12, 2016 9:18 AM - toymaker: http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message3086537/pg1
Feb 12, 2016 9:18 AM - Schlomo: i've got 4 mk8 gears and the all just grind filament
    Feb 12, 2016 9:19 AM - toymaker: tesla bailed to china =\
Feb 12, 2016 9:19 AM - Schlomo: and MK dont reply with I have a bondtech
Feb 12, 2016 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: lmao toy i do not know what that website is but i think for your own sanity you should not go there :)
Feb 12, 2016 9:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i was going to ask what company you bought it from but now that you mention bondtech...
Feb 12, 2016 9:21 AM - toymaker: it video of 1400 people losing their jobs to mexico yesterday =\
Feb 12, 2016 9:22 AM - BryZad: I will take it off your hand 300 bucks lol
    Feb 12, 2016 9:22 AM - toymaker: <--bondtech sry schlomo
Feb 12, 2016 9:23 AM - Schlomo: How much are just the gears? ef i'll design one myself lol
    Feb 12, 2016 9:23 AM - toymaker: lol
    Feb 12, 2016 9:24 AM - toymaker: bondtech gears?
    Feb 12, 2016 9:24 AM - Schlomo: yea
Feb 12, 2016 9:24 AM - toymaker: your gonna make your own bondtech gears?
Feb 12, 2016 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: man i would not want to design the bondtech myself
Feb 12, 2016 9:25 AM - Schlomo: no i want to buy the gears and make my own case
Feb 12, 2016 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: and then deal with hardening
Feb 12, 2016 9:25 AM - Schlomo: dont kill my dreams MK
    Feb 12, 2016 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: ohh
Feb 12, 2016 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: the gears aren't too bad
Feb 12, 2016 9:25 AM - toymaker: the cost of cutting a single gear would be more than if u just bought 3 bondtechs
Feb 12, 2016 9:26 AM - Schlomo: I want to buy them from Bondtech
Feb 12, 2016 9:26 AM - Mike Kelly: one sec
    Feb 12, 2016 9:26 AM - Schlomo: and make a case
Feb 12, 2016 9:27 AM - toymaker: but the stl file is already made for the case... why do double the work?
    Feb 12, 2016 9:27 AM - Schlomo: then i'll print the case
Feb 12, 2016 9:27 AM - Schlomo: but you cant just buy the gears from them
Feb 12, 2016 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you can print the cases, that's what i did
    Feb 12, 2016 9:27 AM - toymaker: the gear is like 80$
Feb 12, 2016 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly: http://shop.bondtech.se/ec/kits/bondtech-directdrive-gears.html you must not have looked that hard :)
    Feb 12, 2016 9:27 AM - Schlomo: oh wait
    Feb 12, 2016 9:28 AM - Schlomo: they're 50 bucks!?
Feb 12, 2016 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: Those are the direct drive version
Feb 12, 2016 9:28 AM - Schlomo: but you still need the nema, which i dont have right now
    Feb 12, 2016 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: http://shop.bondtech.se/ec/kits/bondtech-extruder-v2-175-mechanical-kit.html here's the one for the geared nema 17s
Feb 12, 2016 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: those are direct drive
Feb 12, 2016 9:29 AM - Schlomo: can this be driven OK with a non geared NEMA?
Feb 12, 2016 9:29 AM - Schlomo: because at $50 for gears and ~$45 for the nema, might as well buy the kit
    Feb 12, 2016 9:30 AM - Schlomo: damn
Feb 12, 2016 9:30 AM - Schlomo: they must be sourcing those gears for cheap because thats not much overhead otherwise
    Feb 12, 2016 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: maybe you're missing what i'm saying
    Feb 12, 2016 9:31 AM - Schlomo: lol probably?
Feb 12, 2016 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: these are direct drive extruders, they connect directly only a nema 17 5mm shaft motor
Feb 12, 2016 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: like what drives the gregs wade or herculien
    Feb 12, 2016 9:31 AM - Schlomo: Yes
Feb 12, 2016 9:32 AM - Schlomo: My point was does a non geared NEMA with the Direct Drive gears have enough torque to take advantage of the gear set
Feb 12, 2016 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah man
Feb 12, 2016 9:32 AM - Schlomo: because I have an extra non geared nema 17 on hand, which would save me money
    Feb 12, 2016 9:33 AM - Schlomo: hmm
Feb 12, 2016 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: the bondtech v2 gears are overkill
Feb 12, 2016 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: that thing could move a house

    Feb 12, 2016 9:38 AM - Schlomo: Got my 600mm t8 lead screws today
Feb 12, 2016 9:41 AM - toymaker: mk, do we have the v1 bondtech?
Feb 12, 2016 9:41 AM - toymaker: how much was that schlomo?
    Feb 12, 2016 9:42 AM - Schlomo: 50 bucks for 2
Feb 12, 2016 9:43 AM - Schlomo: i still need the new 8mm linear rods
Feb 12, 2016 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: V2. Not sure why he called it that since he never really sold a v1
Feb 12, 2016 9:46 AM - toymaker: rails just got here
Feb 12, 2016 9:46 AM - toymaker: damn the box is heavy
Feb 12, 2016 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: when is your CNC gonna be ready then
    Feb 12, 2016 9:47 AM - toymaker: 6 months i would guesstimate
Feb 12, 2016 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: what spindle do you wanna use
Feb 12, 2016 9:48 AM - toymaker: ive had my eye on this http://ugracnc.com/CNC-SPINDLES/GMT-Water-Cooled-CNC-Spindle-2.2kW-220V-RJ.html
Feb 12, 2016 9:48 AM - toymaker: little pricey but u pay for what u get
Feb 12, 2016 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's not terrible for what it is
Feb 12, 2016 9:50 AM - toymaker: i could take a chance on non brand Chinese spindle but i dont like to gamble
Feb 12, 2016 9:50 AM - toymaker: i figure if i spend the extra money i can save myself some potential headaches down the road
    Feb 12, 2016 9:55 AM - toymaker: http://imgur.com/1gqnD2B working some on z-axis
Feb 12, 2016 9:56 AM - toymaker: rough shapes.. but i want to get everything into the correct place, then ill go back and optimize
Feb 12, 2016 10:02 AM - toymaker: wow these rails look virtually brand new =)
Feb 12, 2016 10:03 AM - toymaker: brand new i would guess they would cost around 4k
Feb 12, 2016 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: if i wasn't fronting the build i'd go big as well
Feb 12, 2016 10:54 AM - Schlomo: So i've been contemplating on whether or not i'll need to upgrade my active heater to accomodate the extra build volume with the RoboBeast addition
Feb 12, 2016 10:54 AM - Schlomo: im going to make the chamber bigger as well. Might just grab a 2nd 200w heater?
Feb 12, 2016 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i doubt you need that
Feb 12, 2016 10:56 AM - Schlomo: i'll probably do some tests first and see what happens
Feb 12, 2016 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: good plan
Feb 12, 2016 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: lol someone on the bigbox forums "doesn't want to wait till bigbox starts shipping pre-orders" and wants to buy someones kickstarter printer
Feb 12, 2016 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: which considering like 30 people have one right now
    Feb 12, 2016 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Feb 12, 2016 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: i said i'd sell mine for 2.5k+ shipping
Feb 12, 2016 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: sellers market
    Feb 12, 2016 11:19 AM - Schlomo: nice
Feb 12, 2016 11:20 AM - Schlomo: how many printers do you have?
    Feb 12, 2016 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: 4
Feb 12, 2016 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: 5 if you include the rep2x at work
Feb 12, 2016 11:20 AM - Schlomo: nice which ones?
Feb 12, 2016 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: 1 kickstarter robo i've modified to dual extruders, aluminum middle plate, etc
    Feb 12, 2016 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: 1 R1 that i've upgraded to an R1+
    Feb 12, 2016 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: a Rep2 i got from my contracting company
Feb 12, 2016 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: then my bigbox dual
    Feb 12, 2016 11:21 AM - Schlomo: nice
Feb 12, 2016 11:21 AM - Schlomo: how often are they printing things?
Feb 12, 2016 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: the rep2 has been my workhorse lately
Feb 12, 2016 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: probably every other day i'm printing
    Feb 12, 2016 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i've got a modification project i'm working on on the R1.7
    Feb 12, 2016 11:22 AM - Schlomo: gotcha
Feb 12, 2016 11:23 AM - Schlomo: i wish i had 1 more printer that had a large build platform
Feb 12, 2016 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: before i had my BB i had a couple projects i was doing so all 3 were running most of the time
Feb 12, 2016 11:23 AM - Schlomo: i keep wanting to do things to my R1 but am worried im going to put it into a state of dissrepair for too long
Feb 12, 2016 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i've only ever had all 4 running at once
Feb 12, 2016 11:23 AM - Schlomo: yeah, i have my tantillus now but thast only 100x100x100 bed
Feb 12, 2016 11:23 AM - Schlomo: though, it is nice having 2 printers.
Feb 12, 2016 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i feel like most things i print would fit on that
Feb 12, 2016 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i want to modify my robo's to have a 254x254 heater on it
    Feb 12, 2016 11:24 AM - Schlomo: yeah, i was thinking gears/mounts/small parts
    Feb 12, 2016 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: because i hate that it's only 208x208
Feb 12, 2016 11:24 AM - Schlomo: i bought some more PEI for my tantillus, im not putting a heated bed on it and i like PEI for my robo
Feb 12, 2016 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm also considering a modification that would allow me to manuall tram the bed, but then i'd lose a cm or so build volume
Feb 12, 2016 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: PEI is very interesting to me
    Feb 12, 2016 11:26 AM - Schlomo: i like it
Feb 12, 2016 11:26 AM - Schlomo: its not as good as some people claim, but it works ok
Feb 12, 2016 11:26 AM - Schlomo: maybe they dont print larger parts idk, but i have to really push down the plastic sometimes
Feb 12, 2016 11:27 AM - Schlomo: for the first layer
Feb 12, 2016 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah for ABS i find a bit of elephants feet is worth it to mitigate warping
Feb 12, 2016 11:29 AM - Schlomo: not sure if anything additional can be put on the PEI or not
    Feb 12, 2016 11:39 AM - PeterkSharma: hey
Feb 12, 2016 11:40 AM - toymaker: mk, im paying for router out of my pocket for once =)
    Feb 12, 2016 11:40 AM - toymaker: hey peter
Feb 12, 2016 11:43 AM - PeterkSharma: whats new with everyone
Feb 12, 2016 11:43 AM - PeterkSharma: ?toy, were you the one working on the AR Table
    Feb 12, 2016 11:43 AM - toymaker: yes
    Feb 12, 2016 11:44 AM - toymaker: im like 90% finished
Feb 12, 2016 11:45 AM - toymaker: so peter if their is such things as gravitional waves,
    Feb 12, 2016 11:45 AM - toymaker: is their anti-gravitional waves?
Feb 12, 2016 11:48 AM - PeterkSharma: No idea. I'll believe that we found gravity waves when we levitate something.
Feb 12, 2016 11:53 AM - PeterkSharma: But my best guess would be no, not anti-gravity but negative gravity waves yes. If you have a wave that is causing the pull of gravity there has to be a wave pushing the other way. This would be what you are referring to as an anti-wave. It would push you off of the earth. (Einstein said it was cause by the curve of space, Tesla said aether force). Thats the great debate of Tesla and Einstein on Relativity.

    Feb 12, 2016 11:55 AM - Mike Kelly: pretty
Feb 12, 2016 11:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if he did that with sharpies
Feb 12, 2016 12:01 PM - jbigler1986: Not sure how that would with all of those colors on the same layer
Feb 12, 2016 12:02 PM - jbigler1986: Great question on how he pulled that off though. Looks awesome
Feb 12, 2016 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah you'd need like a unique tool for each color
Feb 12, 2016 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: where that took applys a sharpie
Feb 12, 2016 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: then you'd need to do a purge between colors
Feb 12, 2016 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: but yeah
Feb 12, 2016 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: not an easy print
Feb 12, 2016 12:17 PM - toymaker: nice peter... mind showing us the rest of the printer =)
Feb 12, 2016 1:09 PM - Mike Kelly: not his
    Feb 12, 2016 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: JB/MG/NFO/anyone with a cnc cutter, http://makezine.com/2016/02/10/save-time-materials-svg-nest/
Feb 12, 2016 1:36 PM - Schlomo: Why is the last half hour of the day always soooooo long
Feb 12, 2016 1:37 PM - Mike Kelly: gravity waves intensify
    Feb 12, 2016 1:39 PM - Schlomo: lol
Feb 12, 2016 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i've been 3d printing for 2 years now and i still can't get over how awesome it is to have an idea in your head be a real object in like 30 minutes
    Feb 12, 2016 1:41 PM - AxisLab: That vase was 12 stl's in one.
    Feb 12, 2016 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: that's what i figured
Feb 12, 2016 1:41 PM - Mike Kelly: each with a unique tool

    Feb 12, 2016 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: that's not full color!
Feb 12, 2016 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: you can only get CYM with the diamond
    Feb 12, 2016 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: you'd need B and W for full color
Feb 12, 2016 1:45 PM - AxisLab: Side note, I think this guy takes his Gummy bears a bit too serious. http://i.imgur.com/cyioraN.jpg
    Feb 12, 2016 1:46 PM - bamhm182: Haha, yeah he does.
Feb 12, 2016 1:47 PM - Mike Kelly: that's cool with the ninjaflex
    Feb 12, 2016 1:47 PM - bamhm182: I always liked getting the gummy bears

Feb 12, 2016 1:51 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, it is pretty cool. I remember seeing the diamond a while back and wondering how well it would work.
Feb 12, 2016 1:51 PM - bamhm182: Looks like he's got it down pretty well.
Feb 12, 2016 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i just don't have the right printer for that
Feb 12, 2016 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: seems idea for a delta
Feb 12, 2016 1:53 PM - Mike Kelly: oh yes, i remember his printer farm
Feb 12, 2016 1:53 PM - bamhm182: I'm finally printing something again, after taking a little over a month off.
Feb 12, 2016 1:54 PM - bamhm182: Figured first thing I should print is one of these so I'm not in the dog house for spending a bunch of time printing off the MPCNC parts. Got the kit in the mail the other day.

    Feb 12, 2016 2:13 PM - bamhm182: That's what I was thinking. Haha

Feb 12, 2016 2:27 PM - jbigler1986: Good. Waiting for the ex to meet me to drop off the kids. First time in 6 months non supervised
    Feb 12, 2016 2:29 PM - bamhm182: She still being a huge hassle?
Feb 12, 2016 2:35 PM - jbigler1986: Not so much anymore. I finally have all the evidence I need so she is finally agreeing to stuff

Feb 12, 2016 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/Vktech-Micro-...575&sr=8-5&keywords=jst+waterproof+connectors anyone have a clue where to find these without wire leads?
    Feb 12, 2016 2:41 PM - jbigler1986: The jst connectors?
Feb 12, 2016 2:41 PM - jbigler1986: I remember seeing them at frys but they called them something different
Feb 12, 2016 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: sourcing connectors is a pain in my ass
Feb 12, 2016 2:42 PM - nol b: Does anyone know the thread size of the old z-axis threaded rods?
    Feb 12, 2016 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.jst.com/ wow
Feb 12, 2016 2:43 PM - bamhm182: You asking for the firmware, nol?
Feb 12, 2016 2:43 PM - Mike Kelly: they sold the most printers with M8-1.25, but before that they used 5/16"-18
    Feb 12, 2016 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: all the R1+ printers use TR8*4
Feb 12, 2016 2:44 PM - nol b: one of my friends just got ahold of one of the older printers
    Feb 12, 2016 2:44 PM - jbigler1986: There ya go
Feb 12, 2016 2:44 PM - nol b: and i wanna help him with setting up autobed leveling but he has those rods
    Feb 12, 2016 2:44 PM - jbigler1986: Does it have autolevel
    Feb 12, 2016 2:44 PM - nol b: thanks mike
    Feb 12, 2016 2:44 PM - nol b: nah, but i have extra switches
    Feb 12, 2016 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: Probably 5/16th
Feb 12, 2016 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah Beta printers all use 5/16"
Feb 12, 2016 2:45 PM - nol b: so we'll just wire it up, swap the firmware, and change the settings back to the old motor sizes
Feb 12, 2016 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: they switched to M8 in august of 2014
Feb 12, 2016 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: those all had autoleveling
    Feb 12, 2016 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: What day and time
    Feb 12, 2016 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: :p
    Feb 12, 2016 2:45 PM - nol b: this was a 2013 printer i think
    Feb 12, 2016 2:46 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Feb 12, 2016 2:46 PM - Mike Kelly: that would be a kickstarter
Feb 12, 2016 2:47 PM - Mike Kelly: man what the hell is the part number for those
Feb 12, 2016 2:47 PM - nol b: yea, i think it's the same one i have so i'm gonna help him do all the upgrades that i've done
    Feb 12, 2016 2:48 PM - nol b: oh wait, early 2014, not 2013
    Feb 12, 2016 2:48 PM - nol b: sorry
    Feb 12, 2016 2:48 PM - nol b: like february-ish in 2014
    Feb 12, 2016 2:48 PM - nol b: i forgot it's 2016 now
    Feb 12, 2016 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: right?
    Feb 12, 2016 2:48 PM - Mike Kelly: did it originally have a black J-head Mk8?
    Feb 12, 2016 2:49 PM - nol b: yea
    Feb 12, 2016 2:49 PM - nol b: he's still got that
    Feb 12, 2016 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Feb 12, 2016 2:49 PM - Mike Kelly: definitely a beta
Feb 12, 2016 2:49 PM - nol b: so once he gets the money he'll grab an E3dV6
    Feb 12, 2016 2:49 PM - nol b: io have V5 on mine
Feb 12, 2016 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: well i assume that won't be next week but tell him to wait a week or 2
Feb 12, 2016 2:50 PM - nol b: i'm gonna have him print your autolevel adapters from thingiverse
Feb 12, 2016 2:50 PM - nol b: oh, is there a new one coming out?
    Feb 12, 2016 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
    Feb 12, 2016 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: can't say much
    Feb 12, 2016 2:50 PM - nol b: ok
Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: but just hold off a week
    Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - nol b: i'll have him hold off for a bit
    Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - nol b: yea, i think he's gonna get the XXL first
    Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - bamhm182: Haha
Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: it should be fairly obvious what i mean soon
    Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - bamhm182: Now I'm excited to see what's going to happen
Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: i prefer the full graphics honestly
Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: but the XXL is nice as well
Feb 12, 2016 2:51 PM - bamhm182: I've got the XXL on one printer and the full graphics on the other.
Feb 12, 2016 2:52 PM - bamhm182: The XXL has a better Robo 3D mount, but I do like the full graphics more
Feb 12, 2016 2:52 PM - Mike Kelly: i need to finish my damn design for a swivel mount full graphics
Feb 12, 2016 2:52 PM - bamhm182: At least, that was the case when I printed the full graphics case
    Feb 12, 2016 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: http://the-daily.buzz/ben-stillers-female-viagra/2/ holy crap
    Feb 12, 2016 2:58 PM - bamhm182: Hahaha, wow

    Feb 12, 2016 3:14 PM - bamhm182: Good find, MK
Feb 12, 2016 3:14 PM - bamhm182: Going to bookmark those for a future date
    Feb 12, 2016 3:15 PM - Mike Kelly: i made a thread as well
Feb 12, 2016 3:16 PM - bamhm182: So I think I've decided which parts are going to be red and which parts are going to be black, as well as figured out which parts are going to print together for my MPCNC
Feb 12, 2016 3:17 PM - bamhm182: Going to try and do it in 8 prints, and I'm pretty certain I'll need more black
Feb 12, 2016 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it uses a lot, and prepare for failures
    Feb 12, 2016 3:22 PM - bamhm182: Failed prints?
    Feb 12, 2016 3:23 PM - bamhm182: What'd you have happen?
Feb 12, 2016 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i made mine in ABS so that's part of it
Feb 12, 2016 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: but also i had some of my Roller F's crack
Feb 12, 2016 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: which may have been because ABS
Feb 12, 2016 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: but yaknow
    Feb 12, 2016 3:24 PM - bamhm182: I was planning on just using PLA
Feb 12, 2016 3:24 PM - bamhm182: Although I do have a spool of black ABS that I need to use...
Feb 12, 2016 3:25 PM - Mike Kelly: PLA is probably best
Feb 12, 2016 3:25 PM - Mike Kelly: or PETg
Feb 12, 2016 3:25 PM - Mike Kelly: if i had vapor polished like i planned probably wouldn't have split so many
Feb 12, 2016 3:26 PM - bamhm182: I'm wondering now if I should split it up into more than 8 prints
Feb 12, 2016 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: if you can get everything to work
Feb 12, 2016 3:27 PM - bamhm182: They've all got good surface area for the bed, so I don't really foresee them coming undone or anything. I'm thinking it'll be fine.
Feb 12, 2016 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i just don't like the risk of parts messing up
Feb 12, 2016 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: i need more damn black abs
Feb 12, 2016 3:39 PM - Mike Kelly: http://richrap.blogspot.com/2016/02/glass-3d-print-build-surfaces-are-not.html this is very interesting
Feb 12, 2016 3:47 PM - bamhm182: Have you ever seen an issue where after you tell a print to start, the bottom of the LCD has the beginning of the name, then it says ~1.gco
    Feb 12, 2016 3:48 PM - bamhm182: For example, I've got Corner Block 2 (x4).gcode and it just says corner~1.gco
    Feb 12, 2016 3:48 PM - Mike Kelly: 8 bit :)
Feb 12, 2016 3:48 PM - bamhm182: It never starts the print when it does this either
    Feb 12, 2016 3:48 PM - Mike Kelly: you're limited to 8 characters
    Feb 12, 2016 3:49 PM - bamhm182: 8 bit?
Feb 12, 2016 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah the arduino is 8 bit
Feb 12, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: so anytime you upload a file with a longer name than that it can only read the first 6 characters then adds the ~1
Feb 12, 2016 3:50 PM - bamhm182: Do you mean the file name is too long?
    Feb 12, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: or ~2
    Feb 12, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: eh
Feb 12, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: i mean yeah technically, doesn't really affect anything though
Feb 12, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: just an annoying feature
Feb 12, 2016 3:51 PM - bamhm182: Well, whenever it does that, the print never starts
    Feb 12, 2016 3:51 PM - Mike Kelly: uh
Feb 12, 2016 3:51 PM - Mike Kelly: does the gcode look ok
    Feb 12, 2016 3:53 PM - bamhm182: I named it o.gcode and now it says 0753b~1.gco
Feb 12, 2016 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe the file is corrupted
Feb 12, 2016 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: does it look ok in repetier
Feb 12, 2016 3:54 PM - bamhm182: Oh, yeah, that would do it
    Feb 12, 2016 3:54 PM - bamhm182: It's 0kb
    Feb 12, 2016 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:671881/#comment-795332 people scare me
Feb 12, 2016 3:56 PM - bamhm182: Just to see what would happen, I created an empty text document and renamed it test.gcode, it did the same ~1.gco thing
Feb 12, 2016 3:56 PM - bamhm182: So I guess that answers that question. Now there's just the question of why S3D is doing that?
    Feb 12, 2016 3:57 PM - Mike Kelly: what
Feb 12, 2016 3:58 PM - bamhm182: The question of why it's creating gcode files and not actually putting anything in them
Feb 12, 2016 4:02 PM - bamhm182: Maybe he just liked your design better than the stock?
    Feb 12, 2016 4:07 PM - Mike Kelly: oh
Feb 12, 2016 4:07 PM - Mike Kelly: did you give it long enough to save
Feb 12, 2016 4:07 PM - Mike Kelly: and that design is identical
    Feb 12, 2016 4:16 PM - bamhm182: I think so, but maybe not.
Feb 12, 2016 4:18 PM - bamhm182: Maybe he had a carriage that had the switch on it and he liked the screw instead, oooor maybe he just has no idea what he's doing, haha
    Feb 12, 2016 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
Feb 12, 2016 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: the latter
Feb 12, 2016 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: so many people think they HAVE to upgrade to the v6 because of an outdated video
Feb 12, 2016 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: it's super irritating because it's just a headache for so many of them
    Feb 12, 2016 4:28 PM - bamhm182: I prefer the v6 over my hexagon
Feb 12, 2016 4:30 PM - bamhm182: There's only two reasons though. 1. Screw that silicone boot. 2. I like having the PTFE tube go all the way down. It's just one less thing for the filament to get caught on while trying to load it
Feb 12, 2016 4:30 PM - bamhm182: Other than that, haven't noticed any game changing differences.
Feb 12, 2016 4:31 PM - bamhm182: Oh wait, the fan is a LOT quieter, but that doesn't matter since I've got a giant delta server fan over the RAMPs that makes it sound like a jet
Feb 12, 2016 4:35 PM - Mike Kelly: i always say it's not worth it unless you plan on printing a lot of flexible materials
Feb 12, 2016 4:35 PM - Mike Kelly: the fan is an interesting point
Feb 12, 2016 5:05 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, that was one of the things I noticed that I really liked about it, that tiny fan that came with the hex was garbage.

Feb 13, 2016 at 7:03 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:13 AM - max longstaff: morning, can anyone suggest what type of hobbed bolt works best, the stock ones grind through a lot
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:14 AM - danzca6: Adorable....this guy does a great job with his videos and is now giving a copy of S3D away like "The Hot End" channel.
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:14 AM - danzca6: good question...I've seen some make their own with a dremel and a 3d printed jig on thingiverse
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:15 AM - danzca6: morning Jeff and Max
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:15 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah i've seen that one looks like it should wrk
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:16 AM - JeffTheMess: thats cool dan s3d is a great catch
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:16 AM - danzca6: yeah, trying to get it free, but not holding my breath
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:16 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.tridimake.com/2013/03/which-hobbed-bolt-for-filament-feeder.html
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:18 AM - max longstaff: nice i was just looking at that would you recommend the machined one if i could find that?
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:18 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah save the hassle f making mistakes
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:19 AM - JeffTheMess: your having grinding issues, trying to go faster?
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:20 AM - max longstaff: hmm that could help since i could extrude with ease when spinning by hand
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:20 AM - max longstaff: but as soon as i try to print something it grinds through
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:21 AM - JeffTheMess: cool... i assume you tried to clean out the hobbed bolt
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:22 AM - max longstaff: ye the actual metal looks pretty messed up though
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:22 AM - JeffTheMess: got a pic?
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:22 AM - max longstaff: was using a scalpel
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:23 AM - max longstaff: oh erm i can take a pic sorry i read toothpic :S
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:23 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:25 AM - max longstaff: ah okay looking now i definitely need a new one the thinnest parts have bent over completely
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:25 AM - JeffTheMess: wonder how that happened
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:26 AM - max longstaff: ye is kinda odd
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:27 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:151669 this was what dan was looking at to make your own
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:28 AM - max longstaff: nice looking now dont yet own a dremel
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:29 AM - danzca6: o_O No Dremel
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:30 AM - danzca6: every man needs one :)
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:30 AM - danzca6: I have 4 haha
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:30 AM - max longstaff: yeah im slowly building up my tool kit
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:30 AM - danzca6: I have one that I haven't even opened. Got it free from work for my anniversary
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:31 AM - JeffTheMess: no dremel http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:232511
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:31 AM - danzca6: Here is a good demel kit for the price if you are looking to get into using one http://amzn.com/B002L3RUW0
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:32 AM - JeffTheMess: congrats on the anniversary heres a tol just make sure leave it around here so we can "use" it

Feb 13, 2016 at 7:36 AM - max longstaff: thanks for the link :p i'm in the uk so ill look on uk amazon
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:37 AM - JeffTheMess: finally order my dlp projector for my resin printer hoowaa
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:38 AM - max longstaff: I have a reprap "universal" hobbed bolt but the grooves are far to rounded and dont grip at all
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:39 AM - max longstaff: Grats jeff
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:39 AM - max longstaff: :)
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:39 AM - danzca6: which one did you end up getting?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:39 AM - danzca6: a dlp would be a fun project
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:40 AM - JeffTheMess: an infocus lp70
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:40 AM - JeffTheMess: high enough res, not alot of lumens but I want to see if i can modify it for higher
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:41 AM - danzca6: are you going off of a plan online or designing it yourself
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:43 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.instructables.com/id/Chimera-60-DLP-resin-3d-printer/?ALLSTEPS bit using fdm printed parts
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:43 AM - JeffTheMess: the projector will be my own modifications
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:44 AM - danzca6: wow...I'd like to see how that turns out. you do a lot of smaller detailed work?
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:44 AM - JeffTheMess: it really simple the printer itself.....my current wrk has been yeah
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:45 AM - JeffTheMess: a ready made one prices are insane
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:45 AM - danzca6: well, maybe you can make a nice piece of jewelry for the wife since she agreed to let you get the projector
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yup...if you need anything for yourself convince her it well benefit her (somehow)
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:47 AM - JeffTheMess: I told her before i change it up we'll watch movies on it for a bit
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:47 AM - danzca6: exactly right...that is why I make my wife things with my Robo to show her how nice it is to have one
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:48 AM - JeffTheMess: exactly
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:48 AM - danzca6: oh....she might like that too much Jeff and you will need to get a second one
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:48 AM - danzca6: I got one of those big inflatable screens for the backyard and a projector for summer movie night...it's a blast with the family and neighbors
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:49 AM - JeffTheMess: you fellas have any exciting projects?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:49 AM - danzca6: I'm starting the MPCNC project
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:50 AM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:724999
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:51 AM - danzca6: just collecting the pieces needed and printing all the parts
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:51 AM - danzca6: hopefully will be done by Easter
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:52 AM - danzca6: I want to add a laser diode to it for etching and some cutting as well
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:52 AM - JeffTheMess: I cant look at that right now, i want one but i gotta do the 3dlp first
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:52 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah thats a god idea
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:52 AM - JeffTheMess: i know mk has one
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:52 AM - danzca6: mg as well
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:53 AM - danzca6: should be a fun addition
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:53 AM - danzca6: something different than a 3d printer. My brother has a project already for me once it is done
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:53 AM - JeffTheMess: you started printing the parts
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:54 AM - danzca6: yeah I have a few done
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:54 AM - danzca6: My kids want to use the printer as well, so I try to do my jobs over night
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:55 AM - danzca6: found the bearings for super cheap on amazon and the DWP611 is only $99 now which is really good
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:56 AM - danzca6: so I figure taking my time saves me some money as I can grab deals as they come up
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:57 AM - JeffTheMess: http://blogs.solidworks.com/solidwo...ids-hopes-encourage-pursuit-stem-careers.html
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:57 AM - danzca6: now I really like the glowforge...saw some videos on that this morning and is very tempting. More than what is in my piggy bank at the moment
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:57 AM - JeffTheMess: get your kids to do it themselves
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:58 AM - jbigler1986: Cnc is well worth it. Use mine way more than my printer
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:58 AM - danzca6: I saw that the other day as well...that is my main reason to get into all of this. Showing my kids how all this works is great
    Feb 13, 2016 at 7:58 AM - danzca6: good to hear jb
Feb 13, 2016 at 7:59 AM - danzca6: I can't wait to make my first part with it

Feb 13, 2016 at 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: How big is that going to be
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:28 AM - toymaker: 50 x 30 x 7
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:28 AM - toymaker: for right now

    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:29 AM - toymaker: joke
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:29 AM - toymaker: but for right now i will just have 7
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:29 AM - jbigler1986: Hell even 7 inches is a lot for the z
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:29 AM - toymaker: yea, im using really beefy rails on the z and y axis
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: Thing is going to be heavy
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:30 AM - toymaker: amd the 8020 - 3060 laid out in the config has less than .001 deflection with 200lbs of force
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:30 AM - toymaker: it will be around 200-250 lb for the ganry
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:31 AM - toymaker: just the alumin is like 120lbs
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:31 AM - danzca6: you must have one heck of a shop
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: Are you making a bed for it or making is kind of and open frame
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:31 AM - toymaker: garage 950 sqft

Feb 13, 2016 at 8:31 AM - danzca6: BAHM! long time since I have seen you on here
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: Good. You
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:31 AM - danzca6: how's it going
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: How is the Air Force treating you
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:32 AM - bamhm182: Hey danz. Yeah, I've been out of the house a LOT recently.

Feb 13, 2016 at 8:32 AM - toymaker: im thinking my nema 23 are gonna eb to small
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:33 AM - bamhm182: Air Force hasn't been going too bad. About to put on E-5
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:33 AM - toymaker: might have to grab some nema 34's
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:33 AM - danzca6: that's good actually. better than sitting at the computer too long
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:33 AM - bamhm182: True, usually anyway.
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:34 AM - bamhm182: Printing the first handful of jobs I've done since like December
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:35 AM - danzca6: nice. you still have both of your printers
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:35 AM - bamhm182: Scrolling back through Facebook, the last thing I printed was on December 21st.
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:36 AM - bamhm182: Indeed I do. I have the R1+plus set up as bowden with the hexagon at the moment, but I have two steppers hooked up and working. I need to get around to figuring out how to do dual colors in S3D and swapping back in the Cyclops one of these days
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:37 AM - bamhm182: That's pretty epic looking, toy
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:38 AM - danzca6: cool...I have thought about doing a dual color run just on the hex using a mid print swap, but haven't taken the time
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:38 AM - bamhm182: I currently have both printers printing parts for the MPCNC. Got all the hardware I need for that last week, excluding the 3/4" conduit. Just need that and the printed parts now.
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - bamhm182: Doing it in black and red, but I'm going to run out of black before I finish. Got more coming in on Tuesday though
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - danzca6: really? you are farther than I am then
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - danzca6: yeah I am doing mine in blue and silver
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:39 AM - danzca6: better than pink and orange that I have sitting on the shelf
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:40 AM - danzca6: what router are you using
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:40 AM - bamhm182: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:889541
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:40 AM - bamhm182: If you're wanting to play around a lot with swapping colors mid-print, I highly recommend that mod.
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:40 AM - bamhm182: I know it's not TOO hard to swap colors without it, but that mod makes it a breeze.
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:41 AM - danzca6: it's in my todo bin already. thanks. You use it?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:41 AM - bamhm182: I picked up the Dewalt DW660
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:42 AM - danzca6: I almost went with the 660, but then the 611 came one sale yesterday and decided why not
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:42 AM - bamhm182: Yup. I've got it on my R1. I forget when exactly I put it on, but it's been on there for a while and I haven't had any issues with it
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:42 AM - danzca6: I will print that out today then..thanks

Feb 13, 2016 at 8:43 AM - bamhm182: How much did you get it for? The $100 on Amazon?
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:43 AM - bamhm182: No problem. Hope you like it.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:43 AM - danzca6: yep
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:44 AM - danzca6: it was 120
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:44 AM - bamhm182: Fair enough
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:44 AM - bamhm182: Have you found a mount for it?
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:44 AM - danzca6: I figure it is a bit more power and already has a variable speed switch built in and the leds
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:44 AM - danzca6: yeah on thingiverse
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:45 AM - bamhm182: Oh, I see where I screwed up. I was typing DW611, it's a DWP611
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:46 AM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1023812
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:46 AM - danzca6: right
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:46 AM - danzca6: more torque
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:47 AM - danzca6: msrp is like $244
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:47 AM - danzca6: that's crazy
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: it's the same that mk is using on his
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:48 AM - danzca6: I got 100 bearings on there last week for $28
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:50 AM - bamhm182: Maybe I should have looked into more spindles before deciding on the DW611. I just saw everyone recommending that one.
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:50 AM - danzca6: are you just using the mega with the ramps
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:50 AM - bamhm182: Oh well, I don't plan on doing anything TOO crazy with it, so I'm sure the 611 will be fine.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:50 AM - bamhm182: Yeah. I bought the kit from vicious1.
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:51 AM - danzca6: that should be a good one to start off with. They are cutting aluminum with it...so it should be fine
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:51 AM - danzca6: you can always get something like this http://amzn.com/B009KAEP7A to change the speed if needed
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:52 AM - bamhm182: Yeah. I'm not too worried about it. The variable speed thing was the main reason I'm eyeing that DWP611 now
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:52 AM - danzca6: oh you got the whole hardware kit from him?
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:52 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I was looking at that the other day when I got my DW660. I decided to hold off on it for the time being though
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:53 AM - danzca6: I wonder what kind of warranty he has on stuff from his shop
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:53 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I figured it was easier than sourcing everything myself, plus from the little bit of digging that I did a couple months back, it looked like with shipping and everything, it was cheaper just to go with him
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:54 AM - bamhm182: Good question. A lot of the stuff is just simple hardware though. I don't really see me running into too many problems.
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:54 AM - danzca6: well, he does deserve the $ he makes on them for all the work he did
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:55 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, that too
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:56 AM - danzca6: I like this guys solderless motor mount http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:973207
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:56 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I have those in my queue
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:56 AM - danzca6: not sure if you got his new wiring or just the basic 4 wire
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:57 AM - bamhm182: Oh wait, that's a different one
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:57 AM - toymaker: she is amazing
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:57 AM - danzca6: they are a bit thicker around the wire area and cover the front
Feb 13, 2016 at 8:58 AM - bamhm182: Either way, I'm probably going to solder everything just to ensure a good connection.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:59 AM - danzca6: wow, that's just one voice...almost sounded like several
    Feb 13, 2016 at 8:59 AM - danzca6: she is good
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:00 AM - bamhm182: Yeah she is
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:00 AM - danzca6: for $15 he has a nice wiring package that I ordered so no soldering needed
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:00 AM - danzca6: http://www.vicious1.com/product/wiring-harness/
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:01 AM - danzca6: what size are you making your cnc?
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:02 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, I picked that up. I still haven't looked into how it all goes together as much as I should have
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:03 AM - toymaker: i bet ennio is tapping that *** =)
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:03 AM - bamhm182: I also still haven't decided on the size or where exactly I'm going to put it. I have a workbench that I may end up screwing it down to, but it's not my house, so I may just build a table for it.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:04 AM - bamhm182: Have you decided on your size?
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:05 AM - bamhm182: I'm not going to go too big with it. I don't need it to be massive. I'm thinking maybe 24"x24"
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:05 AM - danzca6: no...not sure if like 24x24 or a bit bigger
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:05 AM - danzca6: haha
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:06 AM - danzca6: I am also thinking of doing an enclosure for noise and such, but not sure yet
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:06 AM - bamhm182: I'm about to piss off the roommates. Haha
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:07 AM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:160594
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:08 AM - bamhm182: I was also thinking of setting up the shop vac I've got to clean the dust as it makes it.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:10 AM - danzca6: yeah that would be good
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:12 AM - danzca6: well, going to head out. Taking the kids to Giardono's for their heart shaped stuffed pizza...delicious. Great talking to you again Bam. Knowing you are doing the build now as well will keep me motivated to get-r-done.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:13 AM - danzca6: Here is another forum that is a good reference for some cnc stuff as well http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:15 AM - bamhm182: Good catching up with you too, danz. See you around.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:16 AM - NFOsec: Good day fellow Robonauteers
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:16 AM - NFOsec: hey bamdanz.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:21 AM - NFOsec: how are folks these days?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:22 AM - bamhm182: Hey, NFO.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:22 AM - bamhm182: Things are going pretty well
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:23 AM - bamhm182: I think my garage is too cold to print. Keep getting Temp Fall errors on my R1
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:25 AM - NFOsec: yeah, my office lately has been getting a bit cooler, haven't been able to get myself up to the 250 range lately, capping at 235. I may need to clean things and check the screw-down thermistor to make sure it's ok.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:25 AM - NFOsec: printing for everything else has been wildly successful since I went Bondtech direct and the E3Dv6
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:26 AM - NFOsec: and I'm almost exclusively printing with a .6 nozzle. aside from one non-stick to the bed situation, I haven't had a failed print in months. good feeling.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:30 AM - bamhm182: I'm also wondering if a PID autotune would help
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:32 AM - bamhm182: That's pretty cool. So you're liking the Bondtech?
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:32 AM - NFOsec: it could, but if you can't sing for sh*t, autotuning is the only way to go. :)
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:33 AM - bamhm182: Haha
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:33 AM - NFOsec: oh, I wondered why I even accepted the Greg's Wade in the first place... capability improves 10x more with the bondtech and E3Dv6.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:33 AM - bamhm182:
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:33 AM - NFOsec: flex, semi-flex, nylon, aluminum, copper, etc. I've done it all and have yet to have a problem.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:33 AM - NFOsec: knock on wood.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:34 AM - bamhm182: I was talking about this. PID Autotune, if I'm not mistaken, tells you what your PID values should be so the printer has better control over its heating
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:34 AM - NFOsec: I know dude, lighten up, it was a great joke.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:34 AM - NFOsec: coming from a deaf guy, it was even funnier!
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:35 AM - bamhm182: Hahaha
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:35 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I do agree that precision is certainly beneficial. you have nothing to lose.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:35 AM - bamhm182: I've thought about the Bondtech upgrade a few times, but seeing as I really only do PLA, I haven't seen it to be worth it.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:37 AM - NFOsec: well, even so, now 50% of my prints are nylon and 50% are PLA, the other 50% is Flex and those specialty filaments. so for 150% of my printing, I have options. that was most of my focus.
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:37 AM - NFOsec: you might WANT the options some day, but if you don't choose to venture into that, then it's not a loss.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:39 AM - PeterkSharma: hey
Feb 13, 2016 at 9:40 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, but at the same time, if I decide to go down that route, I can order the bondtech at that point in time, and maybe there'll be a new version something
    Feb 13, 2016 at 9:40 AM - bamhm182: hey Peter
    Feb 13, 2016 at 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: MK around?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 10:42 AM - bamhm182: Haven't seen him
Feb 13, 2016 at 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: going bowden again. for the 50th time. Kind of made a custom drive gear that upon testing had 0 issues
    Feb 13, 2016 at 10:52 AM - bamhm182: Haha
    Feb 13, 2016 at 10:52 AM - bamhm182: Didn't you get a bondtech a while back?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 10:56 AM - jbigler1986: nope
Feb 13, 2016 at 10:59 AM - bamhm182: Ah, thought you did for some reason. With as often as you try Bowden, I'm surprised you haven't.
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM - bamhm182: I've had some good luck with these geared steppers I picked up from Amazon and have been using with the Hercustruder
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: geared steppers havent been the issue. It has been the drive gears
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM - jbigler1986: but this new one seems awesome so far
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:03 AM - bamhm182: What'd you get?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:03 AM - bamhm182: I bought mine forever ago, so I don't remember what I got
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/Signswise-Pri...455390120&sr=8-3&keywords=extruder+drive+gear but modified them
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: I have Mk7 and Mk8 ones but they give me issues

    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:05 AM - bamhm182: http://www.tridprinting.com/Mechanical-Parts/#3D-Printer-Hobbed-Drive-Gear Those are the ones I got
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:06 AM - bamhm182: I also have a few Mk7 and Mk8 that didn't quite do the job or were the wrong bore size
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:06 AM - bamhm182: Oh wait, that link didn't bring it where I wanted it. I got the ones with the 8mm bore on that page
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:07 AM - jbigler1986: yep. i have those. just grind filament
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:08 AM - bamhm182: The 8mm bore ones?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: yep
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:09 AM - bamhm182: Huh. Weird.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: Yep
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: Oh well. Solved now. Printing the mount
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:35 AM - bamhm182: So what setup are you trying to use this time?
Feb 13, 2016 at 11:56 AM - jbigler1986: I'm using the hercustuder like before. Just a different drive gear that is actually going to work
    Feb 13, 2016 at 11:58 AM - bamhm182: Ah, fair enough.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 12:36 PM - bamhm182: Hadn't thought of this. That's a good idea, though
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: jb go blue

    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:03 PM - Schlomo: [IMG]
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:03 PM - Schlomo: My robo made a baby
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: that's sweet man
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: nice looking prints
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:05 PM - Schlomo: yeah thanks. Everything is ABS. the Middle piece of the case is the only thing that warped
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:05 PM - Schlomo: of course it had to be the middle...
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:05 PM - jbigler1986: Purdue fell apart
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:06 PM - jbigler1986: Let them score the last 11 points. Ridiculous
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:09 PM - bamhm182: Nice work, Schlomo. How does it work?
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:10 PM - Schlomo: Its got some bad Z banding right now.. Going to swap out my threaded rod for some lead screws once i do the RoboBeast upgrade on my robo
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:11 PM - Schlomo: otherwise it works well
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:11 PM - bamhm182: Fair enough
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:11 PM - Schlomo: I need a new nozzle though, recycled my old Hex hotened for this from my Robo
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:11 PM - Schlomo: which i believe was just delivered
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:12 PM - bamhm182: What're you putting on it? a v6?
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:12 PM - Schlomo: No, i put a V6 alraedy on my Robo a while ago, so i had my hex laying around which I used
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:12 PM - Schlomo: on this printer
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:12 PM - bamhm182: Oh, new nozzle. My bad
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:13 PM - bamhm182: I can't for the life of me get my R1 to cooperate today. It printed a 10 hour job just fine last night, but now, it keeps getting a temp fall error right after it finishes the first layer...
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:13 PM - Schlomo: PLA?
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:14 PM - Schlomo: i had an issue with my parts fan shroud cooling down my nozzle too much. That happened to me all the time
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: have it step up your fan speed more
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: 60% at first, 80% the next layer, 100% the 3rd
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: give it some time to stabilize
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:16 PM - bamhm182: Oh yeah, that's not a bad idea.
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:19 PM - bamhm182: That would actually make a lot of sense why it's acting up, but the R1+plus right next to it isn't. It has two fans that are pointing directly at the nozzle, where the R1+plus just has one that's blowing everywhere
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: you could also do your PID tuning with the fan on
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: it'll control better with the fan active
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: but will overshoot more on startup
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:19 PM - bamhm182: It's still weird that it's an issue today, but not last night. It was much colder last night
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: printers are weird
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:31 PM - nonmindo: long time no chat! morning(afternoon) all!
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:32 PM - nonmindo: tearing down the R1 today, time for some upgrades!
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:33 PM - bamhm182: Nice, what've you got planned, nonmindo?
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:37 PM - nonmindo: R1+ z-axis, e3dv6, added cooling for RAMPS/Arduino, cable management, 2nd parts fan and 2 6000k cree led strips to replace the blue
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:38 PM - nonmindo: ohh and fixing my rear bed bracket that broke a few months back(its just been electrical taped)
    Feb 13, 2016 at 1:38 PM - bamhm182: Got quite a list!
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:38 PM - bamhm182: Hope it all goes well
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:39 PM - nonmindo: I'm concerned about my carriage bearings tho....when I lift it off its smooth, but when I lower is back onto the chrome rods it doesn't go down smooth
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:40 PM - nonmindo: every 1/4" or so as ur sliding down it feels like a notch....almost as if u had a hocky puck that was rolling with a small flat spot
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:45 PM - nonmindo: I forget are all of the heated bed connections polarity agnostic?
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:47 PM - bamhm182: I would assume so, but I really have no idea, so don't quote me on that
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:50 PM - nonmindo: k, thanks for ur honesty, I'll double check before hooking back up... I'm pretty sure the 2 leads for the actual heating element is, and if this end with the connection to the arduino is for the thermistor, if I remember correctly thermistors are as well
Feb 13, 2016 at 1:57 PM - jim3Dbot: No polarity concerns with heaters or thermister...........
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:08 PM - jbigler1986: Hey Jim
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:08 PM - jbigler1986: You still need that link? I just read the message
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:12 PM - jim3Dbot: Hey JB, if it's easy yes, if no time thats fine........
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:13 PM - jim3Dbot: and, How are you
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:15 PM - jbigler1986: Great
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:15 PM - nonmindo: thanks for the info on the heatbed jim
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:15 PM - jbigler1986: Also do you want me to send the original IR sensor back?
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:16 PM - jim3Dbot: I can update it, if you want & send it back....no big deal on this end.....I'm not using ABL anymore...shimmed bed.....IR is being used for homing only...
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:23 PM - jbigler1986: Nice
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:23 PM - jbigler1986: Well up to you. I wouldn't need it sent back because the new one is working great
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:25 PM - jim3Dbot: Well just hang on to it, if one breaks, send it back for repair.....How's the kids, seeing them now?
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: What's the gcode to spit our my current esteps
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: I am actually. Picked them up yesterday and picking them up tomorrow to go bowling.
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:34 PM - jim3Dbot: Thats good news, 'bout time..........thought it would end up better..........
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:35 PM - jim3Dbot: Last time I was really on, you were cnc'in a shelf, looked good...
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:36 PM - jbigler1986: Thanks. Yeah I use that cnc almost daily
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:38 PM - jim3Dbot: I have one in my storage unit, made it 10-12 years ago.....has servos for x-y, but router for Z.....assembled, never used...redonkulous..........
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:39 PM - jim3Dbot: think it's 24 x 30 workable..
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: I would use that bad boy all of the time
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:47 PM - jim3Dbot: Sold my homeback in pittsburgh & another up her to daughter, living in vacation home by lake now, 1200sqft no garage or basement...yet....so nowhere to play with real tools...
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:48 PM - jim3Dbot: sucks in that way
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:48 PM - jim3Dbot: so when you jumpin' on the laser bandwagon?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:49 PM - jbigler1986: Idk. Within the next 6 months.
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:49 PM - jim3Dbot: 50-60watt
Feb 13, 2016 at 2:50 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Something like the one MG has
    Feb 13, 2016 at 2:50 PM - jim3Dbot: That's what I need....
Feb 13, 2016 at 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: Makes quick work of stuff
Feb 13, 2016 at 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: And tons of stuff to do with it
Feb 13, 2016 at 3:31 PM - nonmindo: speaking of lasers lol... I think my buddy just bought one of those $400 50w blue china lasers....is that the one a bunch up in here got? Might have him sign up and chat with yall
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:49 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Feb 13, 2016 at 3:49 PM - jbigler1986: First print with my new bowden setup and new custom drive gear
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:49 PM - jim3Dbot: Whats that?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:50 PM - jbigler1986: Deprime test
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:50 PM - jim3Dbot: looks clean...
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:50 PM - jbigler1986: Tests retraction and strings
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:51 PM - jim3Dbot: .3mm
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:52 PM - jbigler1986: 1.75
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:53 PM - jim3Dbot: oh, meant .3mm quality,,,not .1 or .2
Feb 13, 2016 at 3:54 PM - jim3Dbot: nice for first new gear print
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:55 PM - jbigler1986: .2 resolution

    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: .4 nozzle
Feb 13, 2016 at 3:57 PM - jim3Dbot: Thats what I run 90% of the time, but ordered a .8 nozzle to speed up print time on some front panels I'm printing....
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:57 PM - jbigler1986: I like .6. It's the best of both
Feb 13, 2016 at 3:57 PM - jim3Dbot: flippin' them over & placing label on smooth bottom side...
    Feb 13, 2016 at 3:58 PM - jbigler1986: I have a .2 I have used a few times. Takes forever
Feb 13, 2016 at 3:59 PM - jim3Dbot: I hear ya'......volcano may be the way to go on some prints.....Would be nice to have the bowden....stepper mounted on case?
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:01 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. It's mounted to my stand I made for my printer. It's hidden in the back. You can just see the bowden tube coming from it. Spool is hidden too
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:01 PM - jbigler1986: I don't have a case on my printer
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:02 PM - jim3Dbot: When I replaced my wobble sticks with lead screws...I left the case off....prints z great...no wobble, no banding...easy maintenance...top will not go back on...no matter how cool it is
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:03 PM - jim3Dbot: so you are bottomless sorta also
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:05 PM - jbigler1986: Bottom is on. I cut a piece of wood and drilled some inset holes for the smooth rods to keep them nice and sturdy
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:05 PM - jim3Dbot: I was very close to mounting th Z steppers on top, besides bed....stepper screws aligned but just bumped smooth rods...wanted extra z height
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:05 PM - jbigler1986: Also mounted my leds to that piece too
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:06 PM - jbigler1986: I rarely print anything really tall
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:06 PM - jim3Dbot: cool......me either just being anal............
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:07 PM - jbigler1986: Any new special projects going on
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:07 PM - jim3Dbot: You need to cnc a techie carved riser for the bottom woodwork...
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:10 PM - jim3Dbot: I wish......still finishing up on 10 control boxes for a customer, laid out PCB, installed in abs box, printed lid with controls, should be complete by monday.......next project for robo, will be techie...
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:12 PM - jbigler1986: Bottom woodwork?
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:13 PM - jim3Dbot: Tryed to print a 4"x 7" x 2-1/3" deep box.....3resolution......took 3 hrs...4 layer sidewalls...crumbled like cornflakes...bought boxes, printed covers
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:13 PM - jim3Dbot: Thought you were referring to a wood bottom...oh just wood z support
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:14 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:15 PM - jim3Dbot: gotcha.....
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:16 PM - jbigler1986: Ordered some more bowden tube. Going to go dual now that I know my drive gear works
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:18 PM - jim3Dbot: I have my IR trigger'ing 'bout 2mm from glass....However, it's definitely triggering 10mm when it hits the big R in the center...soon as this job is complete, I am removing glass, making it all black, and trying ABL again......considering fiber optics & placing IR elsewhere...
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:19 PM - jim3Dbot: I remember you set-up with the dual on either side one red & one blue very impressive
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:20 PM - jim3Dbot: your*
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:20 PM - jim3Dbot: Are you running win 10?
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:21 PM - Schlomo: Has anyone printed PLA on an unheated bed with the special edge lock Blue Tape?
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:22 PM - jim3Dbot: I have with 3m blue tape, worked but sorta of a pain...went back to hairspray
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:22 PM - Schlomo: unheated?
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:22 PM - Schlomo: the hairspray I used just pushed off the glass without sticking after it dried.. it was wierd
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:23 PM - Schlomo: my heated robo worked well with hairspray before i started using PEI
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:23 PM - jim3Dbot: Also, when I went with the IR probe, it triggered way high with the tape...
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:23 PM - Schlomo: ah i see
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:24 PM - jim3Dbot: Was concerned with repeatability at that height...but tape worked
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:26 PM - jim3Dbot: Don't like spraying, I use a priority mail box, cut, has 3 sides, folds flat, hold it as a shield, spray.....
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:26 PM - jbigler1986: I don't have that issue jim
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:26 PM - jim3Dbot: PEI should work well...concern about nozzle doing damage tho
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:27 PM - jbigler1986: I do have an all black heated glass bed though if I did have that issue
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:27 PM - jim3Dbot: JB, yours does not see the white R
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:27 PM - jbigler1986: Ahhh
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:27 PM - jbigler1986: Why is yours different
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:29 PM - jim3Dbot: Good question....this is the first one that demostrates that...I've made about 30-40, I have got some reports from white trigger...its a matter of tweaking that outside IR I believe
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:30 PM - jim3Dbot: If you trigger very close to bed, you may see that......
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:30 PM - Schlomo: I can confirm the nozzle heated at 250c does no damage to PEI bed
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:31 PM - jim3Dbot: Thats good to hear, how about, any dimpling yet?
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:32 PM - Schlomo: not that I can tell
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:32 PM - Schlomo: it was a pain to get on the glass with minimal bubbling underneath though
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:32 PM - jim3Dbot: I'll be checking back....................lol
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:32 PM - Schlomo: i've printed PC at 110c bed with no issues
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:34 PM - jim3Dbot: There is a new, very inexpensive cover with a silicon backing...does not trap air bubbles
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:34 PM - jbigler1986: Oh and that deprime test was printed at 110mm/s
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:35 PM - jim3Dbot: Thats fast, the power of bowden....no mass.....on x
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:36 PM - jim3Dbot: Yeah your X corners look good JB
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:36 PM - jbigler1986: Yep
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:37 PM - jbigler1986: Definitely a huge pain geating it figured out
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:37 PM - jim3Dbot: Hey, guys gotta run...take care JB, Schlomo
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:38 PM - jbigler1986: Have a good one
Feb 13, 2016 at 4:39 PM - jbigler1986: You will have that link tonight
    Feb 13, 2016 at 4:49 PM - Schlomo: cya

Feb 13, 2016 9:29 PM - nonmindo: sooooooooooo...... I did that thing that I'm sure almost everyone does....where they buy a new hot end and not extra thermistors in case they break one, then break one......so my question is......does the pt100 sensor work on the Robo?
Feb 14, 2016 5:55 AM - jim3Dbot: There are 3 choices in marlin firmware for the PT100 thermister, one is 4.7k, 1K, & another for ultimaker.......I'll bet one will work, 4.7K?....maybe someone will know here....all may not be lost.....keep asking...

Feb 14, 2016 7:39 AM - danzca6: any luck on those dlls waldo?
Feb 14, 2016 7:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Nope, they are being tricky. I tried re-registering them after an uninstall and there is a dependency I am missing somewhere. Don't know if it's location based or some missing DLL. I am not a programmer so I may be at the end of my ability.
Feb 14, 2016 7:43 AM - danzca6: yeah I got past the dependency, but still no go with getting it to work
    Feb 14, 2016 7:43 AM - Bill Monroe: Hematuria
    Feb 14, 2016 7:43 AM - danzca6: yikes...that's scary

Feb 14, 2016 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: the Dr straight up asked her "so what have you guys beend oing that might have caused this?"
    Feb 14, 2016 7:50 AM - danzca6: haha...that could be an interesting answer

Feb 14, 2016 7:51 AM - danzca6: must be those 8 hours away at work each day kindling the fire

    Feb 14, 2016 7:52 AM - danzca6: understandable...gave him a good story to tell that night I bet

Feb 14, 2016 7:53 AM - Bill Monroe: some of the looks he gave me were precious
Feb 14, 2016 7:53 AM - Bill Monroe: anyway. ya, nothing serisous at all.. huge relief
Feb 14, 2016 7:54 AM - danzca6: did he ask if she had a sister
Feb 14, 2016 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: he didnt have to, he already knows her sister :)
    Feb 14, 2016 7:54 AM - danzca6: haha

Feb 14, 2016 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: trust me, I know and I dont take it for granted
Feb 14, 2016 8:02 AM - danzca6: kind of remind me of a beach boys song

Feb 14, 2016 8:07 AM - danzca6: just have the girls hanging out by the pool and have the realtor tell the folks coming through they are the neighbors
Feb 14, 2016 8:08 AM - Bill Monroe: it'd be funnier to have them in the work outfits and doing their bit each time propects enter the room
Feb 14, 2016 8:08 AM - danzca6: and they say selling a house is hard these days
Feb 14, 2016 8:09 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. i'm told since mine is on a corner, is 3br 2ba, has upgraded kitchen and offstreet RV parking, it will go fast and high

Feb 14, 2016 10:37 AM - jbigler1986: It's whatever drive gear you are using. Had that issue for months until I customized one
Feb 14, 2016 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: what did you make
Feb 14, 2016 10:53 AM - Mike Kelly: schlomo you won't regret it

    Feb 14, 2016 11:00 AM - Schlomo: the mk8's suck
Feb 14, 2016 11:00 AM - Schlomo: the other one works sometimes, but what did you do to customize one?
Feb 14, 2016 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i wwould NOT use something like that
    Feb 14, 2016 11:01 AM - Schlomo: which?

Feb 14, 2016 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: just because they look the same doesn't mean they're the same
Feb 14, 2016 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: different machining processes
Feb 14, 2016 11:05 AM - Schlomo: hmm are they available on Amazon?

Feb 14, 2016 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: it's just not the same
Feb 14, 2016 11:07 AM - Mike Kelly: saving a day on shipping time is not worth days of struggle :)
    Feb 14, 2016 11:08 AM - Schlomo: fine
    Feb 14, 2016 11:08 AM - Schlomo: you've sold me

Feb 14, 2016 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: no promises
Feb 14, 2016 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: buy a couple nozzles as well
Feb 14, 2016 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: also whats your arc for your bowden tube look like
    Feb 14, 2016 11:08 AM - Mike Kelly: *preferably v6 nozzles
Feb 14, 2016 11:10 AM - Schlomo: looks like an upside down j
    Feb 14, 2016 11:10 AM - Schlomo: J
    Feb 14, 2016 11:10 AM - Schlomo: not that J
    Feb 14, 2016 11:10 AM - Schlomo: lol
    Feb 14, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: does it do a 180 or 90 degree
    Feb 14, 2016 11:11 AM - Schlomo: 180
    Feb 14, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: ok
Feb 14, 2016 11:11 AM - Schlomo: goes straight up and arcs into the top slot
Feb 14, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: right good
    Feb 14, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: that's ideal i think
Feb 14, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: i find sharp angles really mess with bowden
Feb 14, 2016 11:11 AM - Mike Kelly: and also a bit of oil inside the tube helps prevent stiction
Feb 14, 2016 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: and cleaning out the nozzles with cleaning filament between filament changes is usually a good idea
    Feb 14, 2016 11:14 AM - Schlomo: just ordered 2 gears
Feb 14, 2016 11:14 AM - Schlomo: have e3d nozzles on order already
Feb 14, 2016 11:14 AM - Schlomo: the SS nozzle i just got for my Robo is fantastic
Feb 14, 2016 11:14 AM - Schlomo: the filament doesnt seem to stick to it like it did with my brass nozzle
    Feb 14, 2016 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
Feb 14, 2016 11:16 AM - Schlomo: Well, off to do some shoppin with the wife
Feb 14, 2016 11:16 AM - Schlomo: she's taking my to Cabelas for valentines day
Feb 14, 2016 11:16 AM - Schlomo: she knows me so well

    Feb 14, 2016 11:23 AM - jbigler1986: I will take a pick in a sec MK
Feb 14, 2016 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: i wish i had some black PETg
Feb 14, 2016 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: and it's out of stock like everywhere
    Feb 14, 2016 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Feb 14, 2016 11:29 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Feb 14, 2016 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: Works freaking awesome. Doesn't grind filament at all. Printed at 110mm/s with it
    Feb 14, 2016 11:30 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
Feb 14, 2016 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: I had like 4 of them so I figured what the hell. Why not try it
Feb 14, 2016 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: makes sense to me
Feb 14, 2016 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: just a different way of making a hobbed section
Feb 14, 2016 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: Puts tiny little marks on the edge of the filament and that's it
Feb 14, 2016 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: Did you see my negative tolerance test earlier
Feb 14, 2016 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: whoa nice
    Feb 14, 2016 11:33 AM - jbigler1986: Not to shabby with bowden
Feb 14, 2016 11:34 AM - Mike Kelly: what retraction are ya using
    Feb 14, 2016 11:34 AM - jbigler1986: 2mm at 40mm/s
    Feb 14, 2016 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Feb 14, 2016 11:35 AM - jbigler1986: Deprime test with it
Feb 14, 2016 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: i do see some slight strings
    Feb 14, 2016 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: you might try 6
    Feb 14, 2016 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: err
    Feb 14, 2016 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: 3
Feb 14, 2016 11:36 AM - jbigler1986: A little black from sharpie from calibratING the extruder
Feb 14, 2016 11:37 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah a tiny bit hairy. I will take hairy over stringy though
    Feb 14, 2016 11:38 AM - jbigler1986: How did the interview go?
Feb 14, 2016 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: i had a phone on thurs, the actual interview is tuesday
Feb 14, 2016 11:41 AM - jbigler1986: Gotcha. Just enjoying Boston for a few days then
    Feb 14, 2016 11:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i leave tomorrow
Feb 14, 2016 11:42 AM - Mike Kelly: thankfully i already had the day off work so only needed one vacation day
    Feb 14, 2016 11:42 AM - jbigler1986: Nevermind then. I'm way off
    Feb 14, 2016 11:42 AM - jbigler1986: I wish I had tomorrow off
Feb 14, 2016 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: Found out that the ex has a flip phone for her "new" number for me to call and talk to the kids. So she has 2 phones. So weird
    Feb 14, 2016 11:43 AM - Mike Kelly: that's pretty bizarre
Feb 14, 2016 11:45 AM - Mike Kelly: man i'm not sure how to set up my octoprint remote viewer
Feb 14, 2016 11:45 AM - jbigler1986: On local network is easy. I has issues outside of local network though
Feb 14, 2016 11:45 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah local is easy
    Feb 14, 2016 11:45 AM - jbigler1986: My router was being a hitch and I gave up
Feb 14, 2016 11:45 AM - Mike Kelly: i have a DUC setup from noip
    Feb 14, 2016 11:45 AM - jbigler1986: Bitch
Feb 14, 2016 11:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i have the port forwarded to the octopi
Feb 14, 2016 11:46 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I tried with noip as well. Have used it a ton of time for other stuff
    Feb 14, 2016 11:46 AM - jbigler1986: Couldn't get the pi to work though
Feb 14, 2016 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm tempted to get a couple more pi's for my other printers
Feb 14, 2016 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to setup my email client for octoprint as well
Feb 14, 2016 11:48 AM - Mike Kelly: then it'll text me when a print finishes
Feb 14, 2016 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: phew took me a bit to remember my login
    Feb 14, 2016 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Feb 14, 2016 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: where is don when you need him
Feb 14, 2016 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: i need his dual files that he made for me again. now that i have a working extruder
    Feb 14, 2016 12:26 PM - jbigler1986: i literally just deleted them like 2 weeks ago
Feb 14, 2016 12:27 PM - jbigler1986: i would use yours but i like how easy it was to adjust the height on his
Feb 14, 2016 12:28 PM - jbigler1986: Mk go ahead and just design me a new one. JK
Feb 14, 2016 12:59 PM - daniel871: Okay, CES printer opened and there were some expected minor assembly issues.
Feb 14, 2016 1:00 PM - daniel871: Zero metal tape on the bottom of the glass bed, cork just adhered to the heater pad and thermistor not plugged into the RAMPs for the bed.
Feb 14, 2016 1:00 PM - daniel871: Also, no boot on the hexagon.
Feb 14, 2016 1:01 PM - daniel871: So I spent a little time covering the cork with the metal tape I had on hand and plugging in the thermistors/etc. and tightening up various other loose screws I found when checking around.
Feb 14, 2016 1:02 PM - daniel871: Coated the hexagon heater block with RTV sealer after making sure everything was tightened up on it, and letting that cure out (because once the Hexagon fails on this printer it's basically going to sit until I feel like putting a v6 on it).
Feb 14, 2016 1:06 PM - daniel871: And I'll actually test the printer the next time we have a relatively warm day here because I'm not going to put any more special effort in it if I have any of the problems the original R1 had.
Feb 14, 2016 1:07 PM - daniel871: In the meantime, Monoprice budget printer still plugging along and printing the stuff I sent it with only one clog today on the shitty JustPLA spool I'm trying to use up.
Feb 14, 2016 1:08 PM - daniel871: Took the opportunity to swap in the all-metal upgraded hotend/cooling block and that was even easier to do than a v6 swap out.
Feb 14, 2016 1:14 PM - jbigler1986: That's shitty that it didn't come in perfect condition. Sounds about right though
    Feb 14, 2016 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: I'm back to bowden on my JbRobo
Feb 14, 2016 1:17 PM - jbigler1986: Glad the monoprice printer is doing great though
Feb 14, 2016 1:35 PM - daniel871: Oh, forgot to mention that the SD card that came with the CES robo had been taped in with the tape adhering to the exposed pins on the SD card, it wasn't even in one of those SD card cases.

Feb 14, 2016 1:36 PM - daniel871: I got a tube of lubricant and a stick of glue, some tweezers and another scraper, though.
Feb 14, 2016 1:36 PM - daniel871: At least the glass bed wasn't actually cracked and the belts appear to be in good condition and attached properly.
Feb 14, 2016 1:38 PM - bamhm182: Bought another robo at CES, daniel?
    Feb 14, 2016 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: He won it
Feb 14, 2016 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: From the Robo the robot thing
    Feb 14, 2016 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: So the y belt clips weren't broke?
Feb 14, 2016 1:45 PM - bamhm182: Oh, nice! I thought the name sounded familiar.
Feb 14, 2016 1:46 PM - bamhm182: Not sure how I knew your name, but I was thinking I knew you
    Feb 14, 2016 1:49 PM - jbigler1986: I know you
    Feb 14, 2016 4:45 PM - Mike Kelly: sup
Feb 14, 2016 4:47 PM - Mike Kelly: daniel they got rid of the boot and have a new method for the thermistor like what e3d is using
    Feb 14, 2016 4:56 PM - Schlomo: yo
Feb 14, 2016 5:14 PM - jbigler1986: I need to order another geared stepper with 6mm shaft. Can't drill out the drive gear to 8mm. Damnit
Feb 14, 2016 5:16 PM - daniel871: I had to reinstall the thermistor on the hotend because it was hanging out of the hole with no set screw, so I figured the boot wasn't installed either.
Feb 14, 2016 5:17 PM - daniel871: Either way, it's installed and sealed up with a coating of RTV (so should heat/maintain temps more easily).
Feb 14, 2016 5:21 PM - Schlomo: quick poll. For a small 100x100x100mm printer bed what nozzle diameter would you gravitate to, 0.3, 0.4, or 0.5mm?
Feb 14, 2016 5:32 PM - jbigler1986: All depends on what you are printing. Weather you want looks or strength
Feb 14, 2016 5:33 PM - jbigler1986: Smaller nozzle will look better but parts won't be very strong.
Feb 14, 2016 5:36 PM - Schlomo: Gotcha, well mainly for functional parts
Feb 14, 2016 5:36 PM - Schlomo: so i'll probably play around with the 0.5mm as that print size will mostly be gears and mounts and such
    Feb 14, 2016 5:41 PM - Mike Kelly: .8
    Feb 14, 2016 5:51 PM - Schlomo: i didnt order a .8 mk
    Feb 14, 2016 6:31 PM - nonmindo: anyone around?
    Feb 14, 2016 6:52 PM - Mike Kelly: Ish
    Feb 14, 2016 6:54 PM - Schlomo: yo
Feb 14, 2016 6:54 PM - Schlomo: wood filament from Hatchbox clogged my 0.4mm ss nozzle
Feb 14, 2016 7:00 PM - Schlomo: Lets play guess whats printing.
    Feb 14, 2016 7:00 PM - Schlomo: http://schlomorific.ddns.net:8080/javascript_simple.html
    Feb 14, 2016 7:04 PM - jbigler1986: Lmao
Feb 14, 2016 7:04 PM - Schlomo: I'll give you a hint. Its something my wife wanted
Feb 14, 2016 7:04 PM - jbigler1986: Love the cable chain then the wire madness beside it. Makes me laugh. Something I would do
    Feb 14, 2016 7:04 PM - daniel871: Here is mine: [IMG]
Feb 14, 2016 7:05 PM - daniel871: Cheapass year-and-something old Laywood filament from some offbrand Amazon.com listing I bought back when I first got the R1.
Feb 14, 2016 7:05 PM - Schlomo: Lol. Yeah, its sad because im a computer engineer, but oh well it works
Feb 14, 2016 7:06 PM - jbigler1986: Are you using a parts fan or printing with abs?
    Feb 14, 2016 7:06 PM - Schlomo: i really only use abs
    Feb 14, 2016 7:06 PM - daniel871: I like the two-stage cable chain on this printer.
Feb 14, 2016 7:06 PM - Schlomo: i have an active heated chamber so
Feb 14, 2016 7:06 PM - daniel871: Did you use a hole-saw to cut the opening for the heater, Schlomo?
Feb 14, 2016 7:07 PM - Schlomo: Yeah, it was sketchy
Feb 14, 2016 7:07 PM - daniel871: Or is that tiny heater actually small enough to tuck into a corner of the Robo's casing?
Feb 14, 2016 7:08 PM - Schlomo: Nope it is on the outside of the case. I could probably get higher temps in the summer but for now it sits at 55c inside the chamber, printer is in my garage (~0c here in Michigan)
Feb 14, 2016 7:08 PM - daniel871: I need to figure out how I want to insulate the R1+Plus if it prints my first couple test prints properly.
Feb 14, 2016 7:09 PM - Schlomo: I used the Reflectix from Home Depot
Feb 14, 2016 7:09 PM - daniel871: I think I'd keep things at 55C simply because getting the ambient temps too hot can screw with your electronics.
Feb 14, 2016 7:09 PM - Schlomo: Yeah, the only electronics subject to the chamber temp is the x carriage stepper
Feb 14, 2016 7:09 PM - Schlomo: everything else was brought out
    Feb 14, 2016 7:11 PM - daniel871: http://www.amazon.com/Reflectix-BP24025-24-Inch-25-Feet-Insulation/dp/B0022NH3E4
    Feb 14, 2016 7:11 PM - daniel871: That stuff?
    Feb 14, 2016 7:11 PM - Schlomo: Yeah
Feb 14, 2016 7:11 PM - Schlomo: i got the 12" because my acrylic chamber is smaller
Feb 14, 2016 7:11 PM - jbigler1986: Hey I used that when I grew some weed a long long time ago
Feb 14, 2016 7:11 PM - Schlomo: but same stuff
Feb 14, 2016 7:12 PM - daniel871: Did you cover the slot at the top of the Robo as well?
    Feb 14, 2016 7:12 PM - Schlomo: sorry 16"
Feb 14, 2016 7:12 PM - jbigler1986: Those foil blankets work really well too
Feb 14, 2016 7:12 PM - daniel871: I do like that the R1+Plus has this filament guide insert at the top to minimize the filament just wearing away at the slot.
Feb 14, 2016 7:12 PM - Schlomo: I did, but i cut a slit all the way across to feed my bowden tube through
Feb 14, 2016 7:13 PM - Schlomo: so the tube can move with the x axis at higher print heights
    Feb 14, 2016 7:14 PM - jbigler1986: New hotend?
Feb 14, 2016 7:14 PM - jbigler1986: I ask because that heat block is so clean
    Feb 14, 2016 7:19 PM - Schlomo: new block
Feb 14, 2016 7:19 PM - Schlomo: stripped my original e3d block out with a crappy nozzle...
Feb 14, 2016 7:19 PM - Schlomo: got a new e3d ss nozzle and some blocks off amazon, 5 for 11 bucks or somethhing like that
    Feb 14, 2016 7:20 PM - Schlomo: they're ok
    Feb 14, 2016 7:20 PM - Schlomo: I should probably re-run my PID settings
Feb 14, 2016 7:24 PM - Schlomo: going to be putting a 0.8mm nozzle on my robo soon. Hope i dont run into issues without a volcano, but oh well
Feb 14, 2016 7:24 PM - Schlomo: what would you guys do, a 0.8mm nozzle from MatterHackers is 30 bucks. An e3d volcano end is 55...

Feb 14, 2016 at 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: Buy from PrintedSolid. Screw matter hackers
    Feb 15, 2016 at 4:37 AM - jbigler1986: Or a .8 nozzle on amazon is like $10 for a pack of 5
    Feb 15, 2016 at 4:37 AM - jbigler1986: No need for a volcano with .8 noze
Feb 15, 2016 at 5:33 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning roboneers
    Feb 15, 2016 at 6:14 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:15 AM - Schlomo: i went with the volcano. Wanted the extra heatup time with the longer hotened
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: nice dan
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:22 AM - daniel871: One word of caution about the volcano: Don't use any woodfills of any kind with it.
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:23 AM - daniel871: The wood fibers will dry out in a hurry in the melt zone and eventually produce the mother of all clogs when they build up enough to dry out and start to ignite.
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:23 AM - daniel871: It's possible to do with the volcano still, but you have to be running at the very barest edge of the temps to melt PLA when using them.
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:43 AM - Schlomo: hmm interesting, thanks for the heads up
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:43 AM - Schlomo: i have a 2nd printer im planning on putting a 0.6mm nozzle on i'll have to try woodfill with
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:43 AM - Schlomo: i tried some on my 0.4mm e3d nozzle on my robo and it clogged on the first layer
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Feb 15, 2016 at 6:54 AM - JeffTheMess: Bill
Feb 15, 2016 at 6:59 AM - Schlomo: Anyone know if I can still print at 0.2mm layer height OK with a 0.8mm or even 1.0mm Volcano nozzle?
Feb 15, 2016 at 7:00 AM - Schlomo: i like the idea of having the option for larger layers as long as I can still print smaller resolution things..

    Feb 15, 2016 at 8:19 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: unless scalia is some new filament manufacturer not sure why you'd be discussing that name here ;)
    Feb 15, 2016 at 8:20 AM - JeffTheMess: lol

Feb 15, 2016 at 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: can't really explain why either
    Feb 15, 2016 at 8:31 AM - Schlomo: I'm sure you'll do great man
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:32 AM - Mike Kelly: thanks
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:39 AM - daniel871: People make stupid conspiracy theories about every death that's reported though.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:40 AM - daniel871: Like, remember the one about Heath Ledger being poisoned by the Olson Twins?
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:40 AM - daniel871: On the printing front, what's a good test print to make the CES Robo R1+Plus do?
    Feb 15, 2016 at 8:41 AM - daniel871: Other than the Benchy.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: nothing wrong with the benchy!
    Feb 15, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i think aria's a good run through it's paces
    Feb 15, 2016 at 8:41 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but I have a bunch of them now.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: or the make rook
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:41 AM - Mike Kelly: eh i just recycle them
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:42 AM - daniel871: Also, how much trouble is it to juggle two different printers with S3D?
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: it's not too bad
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: it's not as nice as say repetier
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: but you can make it work
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:42 AM - daniel871: Make sure to export factory files for each printer when I fine-tune settings, and just import either one as needed to make programs?
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:42 AM - Mike Kelly: just open up the profile for the printer you want to use then apply changes to switch the build platform display
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: just make a new profile for the second printer
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:43 AM - daniel871: But, the retraction/etc. performance I'm getting from the one printer may (likely) won't be duplicated on the Robo.
    Feb 15, 2016 at 8:43 AM - daniel871: :p
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: make a new profile the
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: for both that is
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
    Feb 15, 2016 at 8:45 AM - daniel871: Hm.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:45 AM - daniel871: Okay, I'll give that a whirl when making my test program for the Robo.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:45 AM - daniel871: Now I need to decide whether to leave the Octopi on the Monoprice or get another one for the Robo and figure out the nightmare of sorting the installation so that the network knows what to do with two of them.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: just assign a static IP using the mac address
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:46 AM - daniel871: Only downfall of the Monoprice is that it has no LEDs on it to allow easy timelapse recording overnight.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:47 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i have a film light over my bigbox, overkill to the max
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:48 AM - daniel871: Then going to "octopi.local" gets tricky, my router gives a random IP address to the Octopi when it powers up (I shut it off once my prints are done and I'm at work).
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's why i assigned mine with a static
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:48 AM - Mike Kelly: for octopi.local just be sure you only have one on when you need to use it
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: the IP's shouldn't conflict, just the names
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: might be possible to rename it something else as well
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:50 AM - Mike Kelly: i can ask josh how they do it
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:52 AM - daniel871: I know people have done it, so it should be fairly easy to set up.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:53 AM - daniel871: Probably just going to post programs to the SD card for the Robo until I feel like buying another Octopi is worth it.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i've fallen in love with octoprint
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:53 AM - Mike Kelly: want a touchscreen now so jog controls aren't such a pai
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:54 AM - Mike Kelly: alright i need to go pack and get moving to the airport, i'll talk to everyone soon

Feb 15, 2016 at 9:48 AM - AutopsyTurvy: I am equally impressed and frustrated with my printer right now.
Feb 15, 2016 at 9:48 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Started it up for the first time in probably about a year and it works just as well as it did before. Including the same filament feed issues I was having before.

Feb 15, 2016 at 9:57 AM - danzca6: well, when they say create the world...I guess you took them a little more literal than others...haha
    Feb 15, 2016 at 9:57 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Feb 15, 2016 at 9:59 AM - danzca6: how big are you going to make that Jeff
Feb 15, 2016 at 9:59 AM - JeffTheMess: my wife wants if it as a small display piece, so maybe 5"-10"
    Feb 15, 2016 at 10:01 AM - danzca6: nice
Feb 15, 2016 at 10:02 AM - danzca6: does it print in one piece or multiple
Feb 15, 2016 at 10:03 AM - JeffTheMess: multiple my robo can't handle it as one
Feb 15, 2016 at 10:03 AM - danzca6: doing the base in woodfill
Feb 15, 2016 at 10:06 AM - JeffTheMess: gold painted is what the wife wants
Feb 15, 2016 at 10:14 AM - danzca6: well, if that is what the wife wants
Feb 15, 2016 at 10:14 AM - danzca6: let us know how it turns out
    Feb 15, 2016 at 10:50 AM - jbigler1986: Hello all
    Feb 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM - bamhm182: Hey jb
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:01 AM - bamhm182: Tried a print last night with my parts fans disconnected and it printed without a problem. I'm wondering if maybe the delta fan I had was still trying to draw too much power for the hot end to keep up with the cooling, so I'm trying another print with the parts fans connected, but the delta fan disconnected.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:04 AM - daniel871: I am f-ing loving not having to worry about the bed being level any more. Put some lock-nuts on the adjusting screws, some PEI attached to the bed, now everything is just "Load filament > Print" and it runs like f-ing butter.
    Feb 15, 2016 at 11:05 AM - bamhm182: What'd you do?
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:05 AM - bamhm182: Do you have kickstarter Robo?
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:06 AM - JeffTheMess: bam, jb

    Feb 15, 2016 at 11:06 AM - bamhm182: Hey, Jeff
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:08 AM - JeffTheMess: hows it goin
    Feb 15, 2016 at 11:11 AM - daniel871: No, I have that $349 Monoprice printer.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:11 AM - daniel871: It rules, but I may just have gotten really lucky.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:12 AM - bamhm182: Oh yeah, I remember you talking about that now
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:13 AM - bamhm182: Wait, so how many printers do you have now? Your original robo, the CES robo, and the monoprice?
    Feb 15, 2016 at 11:13 AM - daniel871: https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=107&cp_id=10724&cs_id=1072403&p_id=13860&seq=1&format=2
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:13 AM - daniel871: They apparently have a $20 off any order of $100 or more, too.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:14 AM - daniel871: The original R1 is dead. The Monoprice is kicking ass, the CES Robo is basically waiting for me to feel like finishing fixing it.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:15 AM - daniel871: My spot-checking of things on it found a bunch of shit unplugged/not tightened up.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:15 AM - daniel871: So I tightened up what I could see right off and plugged all the loose wires back in.
    Feb 15, 2016 at 11:16 AM - bamhm182: What's wrong with the original R1?
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:17 AM - daniel871: Hilarious clog of the hotend when the drive bolt stripped out and left some bronzefill in the hotend overnight.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:17 AM - daniel871: Basically tired of fighting with it.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:18 AM - daniel871: The CES version feels more solid than the original R1 in some hard-to-quantify way, so I'm hoping it will actually run well when I give it some programs to run.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:21 AM - AutopsyTurvy: Man there are few things as satisfying as ripping off Simplify3D's wonderful little supports with nothing more than your fingernails.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:21 AM - AutopsyTurvy: It's like peeling off the protective cover on a new phone, or the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar, every time.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:21 AM - daniel871: I just got immediately aggravated with the CES printer because some genius put some orange plastic things between the Z-axis screws and the walls of the casing with a sticker saying "Pull -> to remove" with the -> pointing at the wall of the case.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:23 AM - daniel871: Also the thermistor wires not being plugged in when I took the bottom cover off to check out the new RAMPS/Arduino board.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:30 AM - bamhm182: I had a similar clog in my R1+plus this morning. Stupid me wasn't paying attention and ran out of filament on a print I was leaving overnight, so it was running for a few hours with no filament in there. Luckily, I didn't have to tear it apart to clear it.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:31 AM - bamhm182: I don't understand what you mean by the orange things. Something to help stabilize the z-axis screws so they wouldn't risk getting bent during shipping?
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:32 AM - bamhm182: It's also not completely unlikely that the thermistor came unplugged during shipping. I always check everything over on my computers whenever I ship anything.
Feb 15, 2016 at 12:03 PM - bamhm182: I wish Noctua had a 60x60 fan that was closer to 15mm thick. I'm thinking about replacing my PSU fan, and would love to go with Noctua, but when I did that on my R1, I had to flip the PSU upside down and have it on the outside of the PSU. Would really like to have it on the inside
Feb 15, 2016 at 12:32 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
    Feb 15, 2016 at 12:33 PM - bamhm182: How's it going, Bill?
Feb 15, 2016 at 12:33 PM - Bill Monroe: OK, you?
Feb 15, 2016 at 12:36 PM - bamhm182: Not too bad. Trying to figure out how I'm going to print the last few parts for my MPCNC. I should have bought a second spool of black so I could have both the printers doing the last two jobs at the same time. Instead, I have one job that will take around 20 hours, and other that will take around 13
Feb 15, 2016 at 12:51 PM - daniel871: Oh, also: that Deadpool movie was awesome and everyone here should go see it. There was actually a fairly well done R-rated love story underneath the smartassery.
Feb 15, 2016 at 1:02 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, I saw it yesterday. Definitely worth the watch.
Feb 15, 2016 at 1:16 PM - daniel871: "Happy International Women's Day" was worth the price of admission just for the way the women cracked up and the men made sounds of discomfort.
    Feb 15, 2016 at 1:58 PM - JeffTheMess: what?
Feb 15, 2016 at 2:13 PM - jbigler1986: So instead of buying another geared extruder I am going to customize a Greg's wade to use a drive gear instead of hotbed bolt
    Feb 15, 2016 at 2:13 PM - jbigler1986: Hobbed
Feb 15, 2016 at 2:23 PM - JeffTheMess: sounds good
Feb 15, 2016 at 3:41 PM - daniel871: JeffTheMess, you should really see the Deadpool movie to get that reference.
    Feb 15, 2016 at 4:13 PM - NFOsec: Greets.
Feb 15, 2016 at 4:24 PM - jbigler1986: Printing the jack stand thing
    Feb 15, 2016 at 4:24 PM - jbigler1986: What's up NFO

Feb 16, 2016 1:44 PM - PeterkSharma: Hey, in S3D how do you make different layer heights print at different speeds?
Feb 16, 2016 1:45 PM - PeterkSharma: I have a print that has a overhang at 80mm and want that chuck to print slower than the rest
    Feb 16, 2016 2:01 PM - Schlomo: make 2 profiles
    Feb 16, 2016 2:01 PM - Schlomo: processes*
Feb 16, 2016 2:01 PM - Schlomo: set one to stop at the height you want to slow down
Feb 16, 2016 2:01 PM - Schlomo: and the next to start at the height you stop the first at but set the speed way down.
    Feb 16, 2016 2:05 PM - PeterkSharma: thanks
Feb 16, 2016 2:07 PM - jbigler1986: Who was having the mk8 drive gear issues
Feb 16, 2016 2:10 PM - jbigler1986: I have a fix for you that I just did to one and printing st 120mm/s perfectly so far
    Feb 16, 2016 2:56 PM - Schlomo: I have that problem

Feb 16, 2016 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: hello everyone
Feb 16, 2016 3:35 PM - daniel871: Quick question on the R1+Plus, is the offset still negative or is it positive on the M565 line?
    Feb 16, 2016 3:39 PM - bamhm182: I'll check, just one sec
    Feb 16, 2016 3:39 PM - bamhm182: Hey, everyone

Feb 16, 2016 3:42 PM - Schlomo: keep missin ya lol
    Feb 16, 2016 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: daniel i think it's positive
Feb 16, 2016 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: they added some weird code which converts it
Feb 16, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: but they don't use M565 anymore now that there's eeprom writing
    Feb 16, 2016 3:50 PM - bamhm182: I got 0.00 as my return from M565
    Feb 16, 2016 4:00 PM - daniel871: Weird.
Feb 16, 2016 4:00 PM - daniel871: I used the old M565 Z-1.0 on this test I'm running and everything seems to be running okay so far.
Feb 16, 2016 4:01 PM - daniel871: Unless you mean it ignores it altogether now.
Feb 16, 2016 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: i dunno what it does, some weird code i had to cut out to make it work with my IR sensor
Feb 16, 2016 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it may make it negative if it's not?
Feb 16, 2016 4:01 PM - daniel871: Doing that Double Twist Vase with T-glase because fuck babying it.
    Feb 16, 2016 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Feb 16, 2016 4:02 PM - daniel871: First layer went down well, going to check on it again after dinner and see if everything went to Hell or not.
Feb 16, 2016 4:03 PM - daniel871: Not doing actual Vase Mode though, regular slicing but with 3 shells & 6 base layers with .2 layer height to see if I can get it to print a good solid vase.
Feb 16, 2016 4:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i've never done a vase mode print
Feb 16, 2016 4:03 PM - daniel871: That model was always bad about getting an opening in the print if a draft hit it.
Feb 16, 2016 4:03 PM - daniel871: Meanwhile, Aria is printing on the Monoprice in Laywood.
Feb 16, 2016 4:04 PM - Mike Kelly: looking good?
Feb 16, 2016 4:04 PM - daniel871: Oh yeah, the Monoprice is printing Laywood like butter.
    Feb 16, 2016 4:04 PM - daniel871: Smells really good too.
Feb 16, 2016 4:04 PM - daniel871: I printed that Owl on a Cask thing the other day.
Feb 16, 2016 4:09 PM - Mike Kelly: oh yeah i saw that
Feb 16, 2016 4:09 PM - daniel871: Well too bad, I just finished uploading it again because I couldn't remember if I posted it or not.

Feb 16, 2016 4:10 PM - Schlomo: i should preface that comment with "In ABS"
Feb 16, 2016 4:11 PM - daniel871: The occasional little booger on random layers, but I'm afraid to screw with the firmware settings and potentially throwing shit out of line.
    Feb 16, 2016 4:11 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Feb 16, 2016 4:12 PM - Schlomo: anyone know a good place to source aluminum print beds?
