    I just finished installing the E3D V6 hotend on my Robo R1 +Plus. All seems to be working well and followed the instructions posted by Mike on doing so. (Very easy to follow and well put together instructions I might add.)
    I installed the new firmware from the links provided and everything seemed to be running well. However, when I started a print, the first layer is fine. Second is even good. But the Z axis almost seems to be moving at an incorrect height. I have the layer height set to 0.15, using a 0.4 nozzle.
    As I was saying, first layer adheres to the bed well. Second layer seems to work correctly, but then the layers seem to grow continually further apart as it continues. I'm not sure if something may have changed in the firmware settings that was not updated, or maybe I missed something I needed to change.
    Please help!

    Layer height is moving the correct distance, just confirmed that. But I am getting next to zero layer to layer adhesion.

    what do you have in the configuration.h for this line:

    #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80,80,800,723.38} // default steps per unit for RoBo 3D R1

    If that is not what you have then you have the incorrect firmware.

    Default_axis_steps_per_unit {80,80,2560,723.38}

    Can I simply change these values?

    Yes, you apparently loaded the wrong firmware*.
    Edit that and re-upload.

    *this is why the warning exists on that page because the way they have everything on there is confusing and it is easy to do what you did.

    Alright. Well now I have a light to look forwards to once I get home from work and can maybe start printing again.

    Thanks so much! I will let you know how it goes.

    There wouldn't be anything else I'd need to change in that firmware settings would there? I used the robo_M8 firmware download from the thread.

    Thanks Mark, the Z axis is no longer making such large jumps. I just need to get the auto level and first layer height adjusted and everything should be good!

    That was for an older R1, not the R1+

    Confusing, yes. They have totally buggered that page :)
