    Hi,

I'm trying to print with T645 1.77mm and it keeps getting jammed.

here is what the filament looks like when I pull it out of the extruder.

I assume you mean 1.75mm taulman 645 nylon?

So what are your print parameters (bed temp, nozzle temp, speeds, etc)?

645 is a bit harder to get right than some of the nylons, but I can attest it will print.

The best settings will be somewhere in this range:

    Nylon 645
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Print temp = 250C - 255C
    Nozzle = any size
Print speed = 80% of ABS speeds
    Retraction = 1mm/.1mm nozzle or for a .5mm nozzle = 5mm
Print bed = Hot = Glass heated to 45C with coat of PVA

Hairspray on the bed works for me,with a 0.4 nozzle you want 4mm retraction. You might need a little hotter than that as well (maybe 260) start in that range though and see.

I've tried increasing temp up to 272 with same result

Is this the only filament type giving you issues?
    PLA works OK?

Moves speed to 24. which is 80% of 30.

I'll give it a try. thanks

Jamming/clogging is an odd one for nylon.
Make sure the nozzle itself is OK and that you can print PLA(or ABS) ok.
We need to isolate this to the filament or something else.
If PLA will print OK, but the nylon fails then we can tackle it from that angle.

Yep the PLA Blue filament that came with the printer worked great.

What did? The Blue PLA or the Nylon?

The Nylon. I am trying a test print using the PLA to isolate. I will let you know how it goes

Test print with ABS is working, so far. I will let it finish. I have tried about 8 times to print with the Nylon and a few times it has worked for the first hour or so and then stopped. I will let you know how the ABS print finishes.

When you print the 645 are you getting a hiss or steam the nozzle when it is extrurding?
It may be 'wet' (in other words has absorbed water). That nylon can absorb a lot of water in less that 24 hours (in other words: Nylon is very hygroscopic). Make sure you keep it stored with desiccant. They suggest drying it before use.

All that said ... I have been able to print it 'wet'.

Another point for most nylons is that they really don't like to stick to glass so I resort back to blue painters tape for them :)
While that is not you current issue I just want to go ahead and toss that out there.

Another well hidden setting is that you should use 60% of your nozzle diameter as a layer height - so ... with a 0.4mm nozzle you should print with 0.24mm layer height. Make sure the parts fan stays off while printing this (all the time). They want an environment of 30c but you can print it without a heated chamber if the room is not real cold and you keep the fan off.

You picked one of the pickiest nylons ... most of the others are not as hard to get going (ok, yes ... 280 is the worst).

Joys, Just like me to go from simple to complex out of the gate. The ABS print is working perfectly When it is done I will try again with the nylon and us the setting mentioned above.

I will let you know how it goes.

Bridge, is the easiest it prints like ABS really (without the warp).

If you want all the advantages of Nylon without all the pain you can use Alloy 910*.
Also, instead of ABS you can use Bluprint (stronger, more heat deflection and easier to print).

*I really like 910. As easy to print as PLA, but much better material properties.

Now I'm getting an error "Use M999 and restart" in the code it says Extruder Switched off Temperature fell too much during print. Could this be due to the moisture in the filament?

No,that is a loose thermistor. It is dropping temperature when the head moves.
Either that or the thermistor is damaged.

Either way it is a thermistor issue.

The firmware tosses that error when it sees the thermistor value drop during a print

Check the wires at the hotend and where they land on the RAMPS board..
