Jun 14, 2016 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Jun 14, 2016 5:54 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Jun 14, 2016 9:16 AM - danzca6: WheresWaldo would be a good one to win this ... https://3dprint.com/138275/pinshape-bicycle-challenge/
Jun 14, 2016 9:22 AM - daniel871: Everyone's coming out with some sub-$700 printer that looks like it'd be fun to test lately.

Jun 14, 2016 9:24 AM - danzca6: you need a successful youtube channel and then you can get them for review or own for free
Jun 14, 2016 9:29 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but then I have to put up with random people on the internet asking me a million stupid questions.
    Jun 14, 2016 9:29 AM - daniel871: If it's "successful"
Jun 14, 2016 9:30 AM - daniel871: Also I don't know that I have the patience for the level of video editing required to put up decent videos.
Jun 14, 2016 9:33 AM - danzca6: I laugh at some of the 3d printing channels out there where they have no more room in their houses for anymore printers and companies still want to send them stuff to review
Jun 14, 2016 9:33 AM - danzca6: it takes a certain personality to get to that level
Jun 14, 2016 9:35 AM - daniel871: I've got a massive shop building to work with, but I don't know that very many manufacturers would be willing to let me review their unit if I started off with videos about the printers I have used so far.
Jun 14, 2016 9:35 AM - daniel871: (with only 1 out of 3 different printers being considered a good one that I've actually used to make stuff)
Jun 14, 2016 9:36 AM - daniel871: I've been playing around with that high temperature, dishwasher safe PLA that Makergeeks came out with. It's surprisingly close to as-advertised.
Jun 14, 2016 9:37 AM - daniel871: Only bad thing about it is that it really likes to clog even with a Bondtech + Oiler setup.
Jun 14, 2016 9:38 AM - daniel871: Probably more accurate to say that the filament tolerances aren't very good. The test spool has the occasional thick spot that jams at the entry hole in the Bondtech print body. The Bondtech naturally snaps the filament off and pushes the portion it has into the hotend, then the print fails.
Jun 14, 2016 9:39 AM - danzca6: that sounds like an interesting PLA if the QA was right
Jun 14, 2016 9:40 AM - daniel871: The prints I've managed to have finish successfully have definitely been much more resilient than regular PLA as far as drop/stress tests go in a vise.
Jun 14, 2016 9:41 AM - daniel871: Haven't worked up to testing the annealing & dishwasher processes yet for it though.
Jun 14, 2016 9:41 AM - daniel871: Need to get a cheap toaster oven big enough for printed objects to do the annealing, then a dishwasher somewhere that nobody cares about so I don't potentially ruin the one I actually use.
    Jun 14, 2016 9:42 AM - daniel871: http://www.makergeeks.com/disafdaaphip1.html
    Jun 14, 2016 9:42 AM - danzca6: that's prob a good idea haha
Jun 14, 2016 9:43 AM - daniel871: For the actual filament if anyone else has the setup to test the claims on the filament.
Jun 14, 2016 9:46 AM - danzca6: stronger than petg? I might have to buy a roll to try out. Almost sounds too good to be true for a PLA.
Jun 14, 2016 9:51 AM - danzca6: did you see that monprice has the v2 of the wanhao i3
Jun 14, 2016 9:52 AM - danzca6: they have that $199 mini back in stock as well
Jun 14, 2016 10:03 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I saw it, but I've spent all the money I'm going to spend on my 3d printing hobby until after my hypothetical vacation at the end of the month.
Jun 14, 2016 10:06 AM - danzca6: yeah I just left a lot of money in orlando last week
    Jun 14, 2016 10:06 AM - danzca6: universal was way pricey
Jun 14, 2016 11:12 AM - daniel871: Universal is surprisingly expensive given that Disney exists and is so much larger.
Jun 14, 2016 11:13 AM - daniel871: First trip to Disney since I supposedly went as a kid (young enough not to be able to actually remember it now).
    Jun 14, 2016 11:17 AM - BryZad: Hey sll
    Jun 14, 2016 11:17 AM - BryZad: All
Jun 14, 2016 12:30 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
    Jun 14, 2016 12:31 PM - daniel871: This was a pretty funny thing. [IMG]
    Jun 14, 2016 1:46 PM - BryZad: Ha ha
Jun 14, 2016 2:58 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: Hey guys been working on the y axis bed upgrade and all is going well with a good 15" of print space, but with it being heavier i and going to need a higher torque y-axis motor if I want to have higher acceleration. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what specs i need to look for in a replacement motor? degrees? do steps matter? etc. Thanks ! pics to come soon!
Jun 14, 2016 3:10 PM - danzca6: RHCP what have you done? hahaha
    Jun 14, 2016 5:38 PM - Bill Monroe: doods
Jun 14, 2016 6:17 PM - toymaker: ...maybe im blind but does robo still sell the y-axis upgrade kit?
Jun 14, 2016 6:19 PM - toymaker: <----travis it doesnt really matter what motor you use.... longest its under 1.5amps ( ramps can handle 2 amps but i wouldnt push it that hard)
Jun 14, 2016 6:20 PM - toymaker: as far as steps.... that can all be adjusted in the firmware
Jun 14, 2016 6:24 PM - toymaker: travis do u have the link to the y-axis upgrade kit? i cant find it anywhere on their website
Jun 14, 2016 6:44 PM - Bill Monroe: i dunno if they still have them.. i bought a set when they first offered them and never even opened it
Jun 14, 2016 7:58 PM - toymaker: oh? im interested if u want to sell them bill?

Jun 15, 2016 4:53 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: No this is an upgrade kit that I designed. Using Igus W rails, aluminum plates, and manual leveling. It gave me a true 15.5" of print space. I will be doing a write up soon a with all of the files needed. It is an extensive upgrade though. Pretty much redesigned it, inclueding aluminum C-channel for bracing the Z with printed pieces, vibration dampers, for a topless, non-auto level robo, its much more accurate and faster w/o G29
    Jun 15, 2016 4:54 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: [IMG]
    Jun 15, 2016 4:54 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: [IMG]
Jun 15, 2016 4:56 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I'll take some pics of it all installed with PEI glass plate and supports when I get home. I've got all the Inventor and/or step files needed for the whole assembly that I will post fairly soon.
Jun 15, 2016 4:58 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: So ~1.5 amps and 1.8 degrees right? I've upgraded my ramps with auto fuses, 2 fans blowing through the front, fans on x/y steppers, and heated bed on separate PSU @15v.
Jun 15, 2016 4:59 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: everything stays nice and cool, with relatively high vref adjustments. But the Y axis motor skips, kinda binds @ 400+ accel
Jun 15, 2016 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Jun 15, 2016 5:00 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: mainly under g28 when x/y both move at the same time to home center, i have no experience with skip steps, does this sound like the issue
Jun 15, 2016 5:03 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: and what are the 48oz pull? Local microcenter has a Q3D 5kg/cm torque?
    Jun 15, 2016 5:03 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: http://www.microcenter.com/product/...or_18_Degree_ONLY_REQUIRES_12A_For_3D_Printer
Jun 15, 2016 5:03 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: good morning!
Jun 15, 2016 5:10 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: or they also have the lulzbot replacement $5 more - https://www.lulzbot.com/store/parts/nema-17-stepper-motor
Jun 15, 2016 5:16 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: so basically robo-48oz q3d-69oz lulz-77oz, I am not familiar with how much more this is than the r1+ y motor?
Jun 15, 2016 6:36 AM - danzca6: Heck...you could put these in the Robo if you really want https://amzn.com/B00QEYADRQ. I bought these for my CNC machine I'm building You could even upgrade your drivers to these https://amzn.com/B00NCSK6T2. All compatible with the ramps.
Jun 15, 2016 7:31 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya, but i really just need to upgrade the Y, as everything else is pretty good. the prints coming off of it are amazing.
Jun 15, 2016 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: I have those stepper driver on my cnc running nema 23s
    Jun 15, 2016 7:31 AM - toymaker: travis maybe u should switch to 24v
    Jun 15, 2016 7:32 AM - jbigler1986: Ramps can't do 24v without some mods
Jun 15, 2016 7:32 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: you say just go with the lulzbot motor? @ 77oz? or do you think the 69oz will be enough? just not sure how much of a real difference it will be from the stock motor?
Jun 15, 2016 7:33 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: It only skips (i assume thats what its doing) on the g28 at +400 accel when x&y both move. once i went to 305 accel it stopped.
    Jun 15, 2016 7:33 AM - jbigler1986: Won't make much of a difference honestly
    Jun 15, 2016 7:33 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: 395*
Jun 15, 2016 7:34 AM - jbigler1986: Is it the stepper itself or the pulley?
Jun 15, 2016 7:34 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: you think the 77oz will still "skip"? if the load is just being a little too heavy for +400 accel speeds?
    Jun 15, 2016 7:35 AM - toymaker: go 24v
Jun 15, 2016 7:35 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: what do you mean as in the pulley? its not spinning within the belt if thats what you mean, it maintains grip with the belt
Jun 15, 2016 7:35 AM - jbigler1986: Slipping on the shaft of the stepper
Jun 15, 2016 7:35 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i really hate to go 24v just for one motor issue.
Jun 15, 2016 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: Made sure the set screws are tight?
Jun 15, 2016 7:37 AM - toymaker: 24 volt will give u more torque up front...
Jun 15, 2016 7:37 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: no, everything is tight and nothing is physically seen slipping. it just like it hits a snag, but everything glides great, sounds as if the motor kinda revs then it continues.
Jun 15, 2016 7:38 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: nothings shaking or being violent, just like the motor pyshically gets stopped, like its hitting something, but i assure you it is not, it snags both the x&y at the same time then continues
Jun 15, 2016 7:39 AM - toymaker: u know what you realluy need travis...
    Jun 15, 2016 7:39 AM - toymaker: ballscrew
Jun 15, 2016 7:40 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: nothing is loose, its a D shaft as well. nothing physically is spinning, its almost like it hits a wall for a quick second and makes a rarerrrr noise, lol, but not the same as it does when and end stops bad. no clicking
Jun 15, 2016 7:42 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: yeah i would like to do all of that for the y but i really cant do that right now as i have some projects that need to get done, and im pretty sure i just need a higher torque motor, other wise it is as solid as it gets.
Jun 15, 2016 7:42 AM - toymaker: maybe try adjusting hte trim on the stepper drivers
Jun 15, 2016 7:42 AM - toymaker: my ballscrew on my y-axis moves my 10lb bed around like its nothing
Jun 15, 2016 7:43 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I tried adjusting the vref. Maybe im doing it wrong? but as far as i read, it can be as high as you can get it as long as everything stays cool?
Jun 15, 2016 7:43 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ballscrews will come in the future but im not trying to do that right now.
    Jun 15, 2016 7:45 AM - toymaker: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GTR1505C5-5...er-BSC-I-55-/221948523842?hash=item33ad29b542
Jun 15, 2016 7:47 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: does that motor issue sound like its because of weight though? when speeding up to home center on g28, x/y snags and sounds like a rev then it goes on
Jun 15, 2016 7:47 AM - toymaker: i wish i had pics of my homemade 3d printer with ballscrews and linear rails on this computer
Jun 15, 2016 7:54 AM - toymaker: u home to the center of the bed?
Jun 15, 2016 7:55 AM - toymaker: maybe u shoudl try to turn the accel down
    Jun 15, 2016 7:57 AM - toymaker: u said it happens on both the x and y?
Jun 15, 2016 7:58 AM - toymaker: i found an older pic of these.... im working on calibrating it right now
    Jun 15, 2016 7:59 AM - toymaker: https://imgur.com/kgekHfR
    Jun 15, 2016 7:59 AM - toymaker: smoothie upgrade =)
Jun 15, 2016 8:14 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: nice! an no not "homing" but when it goes to the center at the end of g28 to set z-offset. and it works fine when the accel is down under 400. but I liked it when i could have it at 900 better haha.
Jun 15, 2016 8:15 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i mean its not even that bad so thats why i figured with a higher torque motor it would be able to have accel up higher
Jun 15, 2016 8:16 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: for vref, is there such thing as too high as long as everything stays cool? I have it up pretty high
Jun 15, 2016 8:18 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: it just sounds like it hits a wall when both x and y move toward eachother at the same time right when it reaches full accel speed, kinda sound like a car would if the clutch slipped, then it catches and continues fine. does this sound like insuff. torque?
Jun 15, 2016 8:33 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i would say the moving weight is right under 5lbs. so a 77oz would be 4.8lbs...but can someone give me a basic run down of low vs. high vref settings?
Jun 15, 2016 8:36 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the way it looks to me is when it tries to accel too fast, its pulling more voltage to the y motor under load, and in turn causing the x motor to be under powered at the same time, because nothing has changed on the x, my PSU reads 12.25v could i crank it up a little since everything is efficiently cooled? and hbp is on own PSU?
Jun 15, 2016 9:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: im going to order an 84oz motor. i'm fine with the driver I have right?
Jun 15, 2016 10:18 AM - NFOsec: Intersting looking system on KS. https://www.kickstarter.com/project...e-affordable-all-metal-3d-printer/description
    Jun 15, 2016 10:32 AM - jbigler1986: Could be a bad driver. Order a new set. They are like $10 for 5
Jun 15, 2016 10:37 AM - jim3Dbot: Travis, I'm just a rookie, but it seems with the load of two motors, accellin' @ the same time, you may be experiencing current limit of the drivers or ramp..........
Jun 15, 2016 10:38 AM - jim3Dbot: If the bed heater is on, maybe even current limit of your 15V supply.....
Jun 15, 2016 10:39 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: whats odd is, i had it running at 900 accel before i upgraded the bed, and now with the heavier bed being the only change, it started doing this at anything over 400 accel.
Jun 15, 2016 10:39 AM - jim3Dbot: Heavier bed means more load on the motors, thus more motor current...
Jun 15, 2016 10:40 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the bed heater is its own supply with the heater being the only thing on it. so the bed has no impact on the rest of the printer.
    Jun 15, 2016 10:40 AM - jim3Dbot: Got it! not that then...
Jun 15, 2016 10:41 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: so could that possibly mean that the vrefs are too high? I did adjust them to try and crank more power to the motors, but i was under the impresion that high vref settings are fine as long as nothing gets hot?
Jun 15, 2016 10:44 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: what would be a way to check and see if the current limit is being reached when this is happening? and i figured that if the vref was low(setting them to where they just start to work) would be sure to not have enough power to move the bed?
Jun 15, 2016 10:44 AM - jim3Dbot: That is correct.......feel your motors.........however, when electronics, is designed to limit dangerous overcurrent for their applications, the electronics is designed to limit peak currents......immediately......motor won't get hot.........just shut-down for self-preservation.....
Jun 15, 2016 10:45 AM - jim3Dbot: ie: DC motor drives, power supply, microprocessors........
Jun 15, 2016 10:45 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: so do you mean if vref is too high it could cause this studder to happen?
    Jun 15, 2016 10:47 AM - jim3Dbot: yes that is what I mean...........in my own humble opinion.........
Jun 15, 2016 10:47 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: got ya, so what, turn down the vref to .2xx and see if it persists? but on both x/y or just y?
Jun 15, 2016 10:50 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: whats weird is its not like its killing its power, its like the sound of a "clutch" slipping. like, hits full accel, hits a wall, hear motor whinning, and all VERY fast, with no time lost
Jun 15, 2016 10:50 AM - jim3Dbot: Your motors may be trucking along just fine..........hit a need for alot more current......driver cannot supply that current, motor then is starved for it's requirements and acts as you see....
Jun 15, 2016 10:51 AM - jim3Dbot: Just saying, that sounds like your problem..........need to know peak current/overcurrent shutdown, Then monitor motor currents at studder & compare...........
Jun 15, 2016 10:52 AM - donhuevo: and everyone is sure it's not something mechanical?
    Jun 15, 2016 10:52 AM - jim3Dbot: not I
    Jun 15, 2016 10:52 AM - jim3Dbot: and Hi Donald
    Jun 15, 2016 10:52 AM - donhuevo: hola
    Jun 15, 2016 10:52 AM - jim3Dbot: Muy bien y tu
    Jun 15, 2016 10:53 AM - jim3Dbot: sorry high school spanish........
Jun 15, 2016 10:54 AM - donhuevo: I never bothered setting up motors with vref. I'd tune them by ear
    Jun 15, 2016 10:54 AM - jim3Dbot: As I
Jun 15, 2016 10:55 AM - jim3Dbot: I have read the pot case voltage & tweaked.but ended up tweaking further by feel..
Jun 15, 2016 10:57 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: So how did you go about tuning by ear? and where do i need to monitor the currents from during this issue?
Jun 15, 2016 10:57 AM - donhuevo: I usually start low and turn it up until it's running smooth
    Jun 15, 2016 10:59 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
    Jun 15, 2016 11:00 AM - jim3Dbot: will it hatch?
    Jun 15, 2016 11:00 AM - donhuevo: maybe
    Jun 15, 2016 11:00 AM - jim3Dbot: very cool print
Jun 15, 2016 11:01 AM - donhuevo: I thought the glow in the dark had kind of a pale jade quality to it so I wanted something Oriental-ish to print
Jun 15, 2016 11:01 AM - jim3Dbot: were there supports in those horns?
Jun 15, 2016 11:02 AM - donhuevo: none in the horns but lots of other places. I went with 70 degrees and up
    Jun 15, 2016 11:02 AM - jim3Dbot: good color choice
Jun 15, 2016 11:02 AM - jim3Dbot: Looks like only the jaw needed support
    Jun 15, 2016 11:03 AM - jim3Dbot: and upper leg
Jun 15, 2016 11:03 AM - donhuevo: the jaw, inside the mouth too
    Jun 15, 2016 11:03 AM - jim3Dbot: yep!
    Jun 15, 2016 11:04 AM - jim3Dbot: how tall?
    Jun 15, 2016 11:04 AM - donhuevo: maybe 3 inches?
Jun 15, 2016 11:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: nice print!

Jun 15, 2016 11:06 AM - jim3Dbot: Thanks fer sharin' gotta take off, nice hearing from you again Don......Rain is coming your way.........and good luck Travis with the issue...Take Care
Jun 15, 2016 11:06 AM - donhuevo: see ya Jim
Jun 15, 2016 11:06 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: thanks again!
Jun 15, 2016 11:07 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: do you guys run PSU rright @ 12v, could that hav anything to do with it? don whats you thoughts?
Jun 15, 2016 11:08 AM - donhuevo: my PSU's haven't been tweaked. They are whatever they were right out of the box
Jun 15, 2016 11:09 AM - donhuevo: can you throw up a video of exactly how it's misbehaving?
Jun 15, 2016 11:10 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I just figured that if my vref was low then it wouldnt be able to move the bed, but it moves it just not at high accels, so maybe it is hitting the limit? can you describe what hitting current limit sounds like/acts like to you?
Jun 15, 2016 11:10 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya i will when i get home, its 2pm here ill be off at 3:30
    Jun 15, 2016 11:11 AM - donhuevo: it's 2p here too
Jun 15, 2016 11:13 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok haha, where are you located?
    Jun 15, 2016 11:13 AM - donhuevo: PA
Jun 15, 2016 11:18 AM - donhuevo: As for acceleration numbers in the firmware, I've turned mine down significantly to cut down on ringing artifacts
Jun 15, 2016 11:18 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: just next door, im in cincinnati, oh
Jun 15, 2016 11:19 AM - donhuevo: yep. Not that far. I actually work near Youngstown
Jun 15, 2016 11:19 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok, got ya, what are yours at? print and non print
Jun 15, 2016 11:19 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: oh, got ya
Jun 15, 2016 11:20 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: my sound is similar to this
    Jun 15, 2016 11:22 AM - donhuevo: don't think I've ever seen a stepper spin that fast
Jun 15, 2016 11:23 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: hah, ya me either, its not that fast though, just the slipping sound
Jun 15, 2016 11:24 AM - donhuevo: all your grub screws are tightened down?

Jun 15, 2016 11:27 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: see, my default accel is 395, anything higher, studders.
Jun 15, 2016 11:28 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: oh ya, i tried to remove the gear once to slide it up the shaft, im convinces its press fit at this point haha
Jun 15, 2016 11:28 AM - donhuevo: I don't think there's any point in guessing until we can see the video
Jun 15, 2016 11:29 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya true.
Jun 15, 2016 11:30 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ill do one as soon as i get home. should i just post it to imgur and post here?
Jun 15, 2016 11:31 AM - donhuevo: you may have to post to youtube or vimeo and then throw the link in here
Jun 15, 2016 11:31 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok got ya, will do, thanks
Jun 15, 2016 11:32 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: do you want one with it as is, and when it does this?
Jun 15, 2016 11:33 AM - donhuevo: I'd like to see it messing up
    Jun 15, 2016 11:33 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: alright
Jun 15, 2016 11:35 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: thanks in advance!
Jun 15, 2016 11:36 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i'd say the bed weights ~5lbs, thats why i was so stuck on motor power, but we shall see!
Jun 15, 2016 11:39 AM - donhuevo: why so heavy?
Jun 15, 2016 11:45 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: maybe an overshoot on weight honestly. but its 1/8" plasma cut 5052 alum. plate bed, with a lower carriage out of same material (not solid the middle is cut out of the bottom plate) this is all to do manual bed leveling which has saved me so much time and has produced amazing top notch prints.
Jun 15, 2016 11:47 AM - donhuevo: the more weight, the more inertia, the slower you have to print
Jun 15, 2016 11:48 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: im sure i could get some weaker springs and mill down the top plate some to take off weight, but it is rigid, no slop, and perfectly accurate from corner to corner with silicone heater to match and damn near 16" of y print space.
    Jun 15, 2016 11:49 AM - donhuevo: not a robo then?
Jun 15, 2016 11:49 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: right, this i know, as im a mechanical engineer, hence my limited electronic knowledge, so i did know this going in was a possibility. but honestly i have been able to print faster print speeds, just slower accel than before.
Jun 15, 2016 11:50 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: its a robo, just not really anymore, haha
    Jun 15, 2016 11:50 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: r1+ ish
Jun 15, 2016 11:50 AM - donhuevo: mine doesn't look much like a robo anymore either
    Jun 15, 2016 11:50 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: [IMG]
Jun 15, 2016 11:51 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: hah, ya i saw yours.
Jun 15, 2016 11:51 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: igus rails, which are very ice btw.
    Jun 15, 2016 11:57 AM - donhuevo: that's pretty.
Jun 15, 2016 12:02 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: thank you, now you see what i mean? it prints really accurate, lol. especially with good harded new x rods, and KHP linear bearings instead of the lm8ewws. wait until you see the bracing and dampers on the z axis, haha
Jun 15, 2016 12:03 PM - donhuevo: this is not my robo... [IMG]
Jun 15, 2016 12:04 PM - donhuevo: but I just decided looking at this that I want to turn my y motor 90 degrees and mount it under the plate
Jun 15, 2016 12:07 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: hah, ah, niceee. so instead of having the belt vertical, go horizontal? how are you going to provide tension?
Jun 15, 2016 12:08 PM - donhuevo: the same way. the belt would come into the front and back bracket flat instead of on edge
Jun 15, 2016 12:09 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i mean idler roller wise
Jun 15, 2016 12:10 PM - donhuevo: they rotate with the motor
Jun 15, 2016 12:10 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ohhh got ya, all of it will go 90*
    Jun 15, 2016 12:10 PM - donhuevo: yep
Jun 15, 2016 12:11 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: that would probably deliver torque better actually, just seems more, idk..correct
Jun 15, 2016 12:11 PM - donhuevo: I had to put a substantial printed plate on top of the pulleys to keep the 5mm screws from bending under the tension. Took away all my clearance under the bed
Jun 15, 2016 12:12 PM - donhuevo: I need to take some current pictures too
Jun 15, 2016 12:13 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
    Jun 15, 2016 12:13 PM - donhuevo: howdy bill!
    Jun 15, 2016 12:13 PM - Bill Monroe: donnie!
Jun 15, 2016 12:13 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i was thinking of moving mine over so the belt pulls from the center of the bed, which could be my problem, i didnt define a floating bearing side for the rails, but the floating sleeves will be here today i think for the far side carriages, so with the belt side being "fixed" it may help with more tolerance on the opposite carriages.
    Jun 15, 2016 12:13 PM - donhuevo: it's been a few days
Jun 15, 2016 12:14 PM - Bill Monroe: yes indeed.. howzit?
Jun 15, 2016 12:14 PM - donhuevo: it is good
Jun 15, 2016 12:14 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: afternoon!, ahh only 20mins to go until im out of here!, all i do is inventor and more inventor, and some autocad mixed in , haha
    Jun 15, 2016 12:16 PM - donhuevo: how's all your stuff Bill?
Jun 15, 2016 12:17 PM - Bill Monroe: eh.. mostly good.. too much to do
Jun 15, 2016 12:17 PM - donhuevo: yep. the brain is writing ideas the body can't cash
Jun 15, 2016 12:17 PM - Bill Monroe: california DOJ issued a delay-delivery on a rifle I bought.. trying to figure out what that's all about
Jun 15, 2016 12:17 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: WHAT, SERIOUSLY?
Jun 15, 2016 12:18 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: sorry caps

    Jun 15, 2016 12:18 PM - donhuevo: can I order a left-handed one from you?
Jun 15, 2016 12:19 PM - Bill Monroe: uhh i dont have the files for that :)
    Jun 15, 2016 12:19 PM - donhuevo: haha
Jun 15, 2016 12:19 PM - Bill Monroe: in fact, i've never seen one you southpaw freekazoid :)
Jun 15, 2016 12:19 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: well i swear they are letting these shootings happen for reason to do things like what they did to you. Ridiculous. I just got a new one with a composite lower, loving how lite it is, lighter fully loaded than my other one empty
Jun 15, 2016 12:20 PM - donhuevo: the problem with being born in the 60's... right-handed, left-footed and left-eye dominant

Jun 15, 2016 12:20 PM - Bill Monroe: no loss
Jun 15, 2016 12:21 PM - Bill Monroe: basketball should be banned.,.. along with soccer and women's golf
Jun 15, 2016 12:21 PM - daniel871: It's been a pretty weird week for monstrous opinions after that shooting, no doubt.
Jun 15, 2016 12:21 PM - donhuevo: have to shoot pool left handed too
Jun 15, 2016 12:21 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i was just reading about the "ghost cnc" i wouldnt mind snagging one of those

    Jun 15, 2016 12:22 PM - donhuevo: hang on now... women's golf?
    Jun 15, 2016 12:22 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. it's not a real sport :)
Jun 15, 2016 12:22 PM - donhuevo: that needs moved to prime time
Jun 15, 2016 12:22 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: agreed, along with cars and hammers, cause a guy wrecked and killed another guy while on the way to the hospital for smashing his hand with a hammer...makes sense
Jun 15, 2016 12:22 PM - Bill Monroe: naw.. lezbos in skorts...
Jun 15, 2016 12:22 PM - donhuevo: doesn't need to be a true sport to be entertaining

Jun 15, 2016 12:24 PM - daniel871: They were aiming to have it happen this year anyway.

Jun 15, 2016 12:25 PM - daniel871: Maybe they gave up because the Olympics are supposed to happen in Rio?
Jun 15, 2016 12:25 PM - donhuevo: not a bad reason for exhaustion
    Jun 15, 2016 12:26 PM - Bill Monroe: omg

Jun 15, 2016 1:44 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: you should do the upgrade i did
Jun 15, 2016 1:44 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: video is downloading now....
    Jun 15, 2016 2:15 PM - TRAVIS KEMP:
Jun 15, 2016 2:15 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: the video makes it sound much more violent than it is in person, lol. but thats my issue, please shed some light
    Jun 15, 2016 2:25 PM - donhuevo: wow
Jun 15, 2016 2:30 PM - donhuevo: how freely does the bed slide when you move it by hand? As easily as the LM8UU's?
Jun 15, 2016 2:31 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: eh, not a slopy, but ya id say so. the tighter the belt is it feels like it takes more force to move it, but there is no friction feeling at all
Jun 15, 2016 2:33 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: question, im messing with the vref right now, and say i run a g28, then after that is over the motors are stil active, when i have the vref up really high, u can hear the motor pulse, like its grabbing then letting go, not fast like a relay or something like that but it engaging and disengaging, when i turn the vref down it doesnt do that, whats that about?
Jun 15, 2016 2:34 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: you like the structural setup? lol, use PCTPE for vibration mounts everywhere, its solid
Jun 15, 2016 2:38 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: update, when i loosen the belt, it doesnt do it as bad, so its gotta be weight isuff. torque, right?
Jun 15, 2016 2:44 PM - donhuevo: what is your non printing move speed?
Jun 15, 2016 2:45 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: in my firmware?
Jun 15, 2016 2:46 PM - donhuevo: I don't think that exists in firmware but max feedrate does
Jun 15, 2016 2:46 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya thats what i was confused about lol, one sec
Jun 15, 2016 2:46 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: that speed right there is running off of a g28 only code
Jun 15, 2016 2:48 PM - donhuevo: what software are you using?
    Jun 15, 2016 2:48 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: [IMG]
    Jun 15, 2016 2:48 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: s3d
Jun 15, 2016 2:50 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i cranked up x/y vref all the way til it started back at 0, and loosened the belt, and its barely doing it now, but still i need to figure this out
Jun 15, 2016 2:50 PM - donhuevo: G28 is homing. Look at your homing feedrates at the top of that pic in your firmware. Maybe cut them in half?
Jun 15, 2016 2:53 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: arent those the default ones? i wann fix it not bandaid it ya know hah. im still thinking motor torque, what about you? and im not as much worried about homing as i am about loosing steps while printing large prints, cuz if it does it homing, it will do it printing
    Jun 15, 2016 2:54 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: and how does that homing feedrate work? 50*60?? etc.. when default feedrate is {500, 500, 5, 25}
Jun 15, 2016 2:55 PM - donhuevo: I don't know that that's a bandaid. You have homing set to 300 and those Igus bushings may be binding some.
    Jun 15, 2016 2:56 PM - donhuevo: maybe I'm wrong
Jun 15, 2016 2:56 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: the more i turn up the vref the better it gets, the lower, the worse
Jun 15, 2016 2:57 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: no i doubt you are honestly. but where arew you seeing the 300?
Jun 15, 2016 2:58 PM - donhuevo: I did my math wrong and didn't see that it was mm/min. That should work out to 50mm/sec but it looks like it's going a lot faster than that
Jun 15, 2016 3:01 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: oh got ya. the max speed doesnt seem to be effected, its only when accelerating fast
Jun 15, 2016 3:02 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ive printed at 60+ when the accel is down and had no issues.
Jun 15, 2016 3:03 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: in all honesty how much does slower vs faster accel speeds effect the print time if you are printing at a higher mm/s either way?
    Jun 15, 2016 3:04 PM - donhuevo:
Jun 15, 2016 3:06 PM - donhuevo: the acceleration is important during a direction change. Too high of an acceleration setting and you'll see ringing artifacts near your corners
Jun 15, 2016 3:19 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok got ya, well where those settings you showed earlier the same as the video?
Jun 15, 2016 3:19 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: that my main concern is quality and speed of the print, idc if it accels high or low if it still finishes in the same amount of time
Jun 15, 2016 3:21 PM - donhuevo: probably close but print speeds are in S3D
    Jun 15, 2016 3:22 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i meant accel
Jun 15, 2016 3:22 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: what stepper motors and drivers do you use?
Jun 15, 2016 3:23 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: im just wondering if i should get a 70-80oz motor for the y either way just for the fact of it being heavier.
Jun 15, 2016 3:24 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: and what about jerk?
Jun 15, 2016 3:26 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i noticed you feedrates were 2500 and jerk was 30. what exactly are the feedrates controlling? yours are 2000 higher.
Jun 15, 2016 3:35 PM - donhuevo: barring any other settings, that's how fast it would theoretically move. The jerk should be 20-30% of your printing speed. Jerk also comes into play on a direction change
Jun 15, 2016 3:38 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: well then 17 is kinda low for me, I should probably turn that up some, but do you think that could make my problem worse?
Jun 15, 2016 3:38 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: also, I've never messed with the feedrates, but whats the benefit of yours a 2500 vs my 500?
    Jun 15, 2016 3:39 PM - donhuevo: I don't think there is a difference as I'd never even get over 500 on a straightaway
Jun 15, 2016 3:42 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok, thats what i kinda figured. and as far as stepper motors and drivers? if i go with a 77oz motor, should i upgrade the driver? im not familiar with the differences and benefits for the y axis
Jun 15, 2016 3:44 PM - donhuevo: you're taking me out of my depth a bit too. For me, I just turn the variable resistor on the driver until the motor stops stalling and runs smoothly.
Jun 15, 2016 3:45 PM - donhuevo: I will say this... I've played with Igus stuff in the past and it may be binding a little. MAY...
Jun 15, 2016 3:48 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: Ok got ya, and i think you are right, the only reason i think it could be a bit is because of the weight, when i dont have the top plate on it glides easily, as easy as lm8s. So i turned it back down to 400 accel, and its working fine just as it used to, but I am going to grab that 77oz motor, it is 50% more torque than what i have now, im sure it would help, as i dont think that it is anything else electronics or mechanical wise
Jun 15, 2016 3:49 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: how loose is too loose for a belt? im use to car belts so i may be tightening it too much haha
Jun 15, 2016 3:52 PM - donhuevo: that's a good question. I tend to err on the side of too tight
Jun 15, 2016 4:28 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: Ok. ill put the new motor in tomorrow and see what over 400 accel does. otherwise, how do you like the setup? damper plates for the lead screw/motor at the bootom that touches the top of the motor thru the hole, and then dampers on the top of the z, surprised how much it helped
    Jun 15, 2016 4:46 PM - donhuevo: I like it.
Jun 15, 2016 4:50 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: thanks man! I will post some parts soon, i think everyone could benefit from the bottom dampers and beefy smooth rod brace, which i used 8-32 allen bolts in everything, tapped the base plate so bolts go in through the top.
Jun 15, 2016 5:04 PM - donhuevo: look forward to seeing more
Jun 15, 2016 6:16 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: Sounds good, I will update tomorrow!
Jun 15, 2016 6:16 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: Thanks for all the help!

Jun 16, 2016 4:47 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: Thats some pics of all of the upgrades. I will be doing a write up in the coming weeks, in the middle of a large project right now. But if anyone is interested in any of the parts before then, I can get the files to you effortlessly. I highly reccomend the vibration damper parts, it is crazy how i have zero artifacts now. The Z lower motor dampers are awesome, and PCTPE worked great!
    Jun 16, 2016 4:54 AM - JeffTheMess: was that a robo?
Jun 16, 2016 4:57 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: haha yep.
Jun 16, 2016 4:58 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: pretty much just the plastic lower housing was kept, otherwise i designed it and plasma cut/3d printed the parts. I ouldnt stand some of the ways it was designed, so being a mechanical engineer, I just had to do it, haha
Jun 16, 2016 4:59 AM - JeffTheMess: lol how much did it all cost?
Jun 16, 2016 5:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: excluding filament, because i already had all the material, I havent put all the receipts in quickbooks yet, but id say you could do it for under $200, but i didnt pay for the metal or plasma cutting, the igus rail setup was roughly 100, and then everything else was bolts and nuts and wiring stuff, because i added a few fans and cleaned up the wiring a lot at the same time when i added the extra PSU for heated bed, which both of those were $80
Jun 16, 2016 5:09 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: so I'd say if you did everything i did, under $300 for sure. But I did a few things that werent needed, but I'm an OCD engineer so I had to, lol. igus rails, custom silicone heater(250mm x 400mm), PSU and makerfarm relay, and im adding a 77oz Y stepper today for higher accels w/the heavier bed for $19, and fans I had laying around, along with the KHP series linear ball bearings and true 8mm hardened rods from my old Y, went to my X carriage.
Jun 16, 2016 5:12 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the R1+ had aluminum shafts! and they measured about .12mm smaller than 8mm, so the high quality KHP bearins replaced the sloppy tolerance lm8uus and now there is no play at all in the Y or X. Its precise as hell
Jun 16, 2016 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Jun 16, 2016 5:50 AM - JeffTheMess: not bad travis
    Jun 16, 2016 5:50 AM - JeffTheMess: morning Bill
Jun 16, 2016 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: hey Jeff.. what's the good word?
    Jun 16, 2016 5:53 AM - JeffTheMess: Robo? lol
Jun 16, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: heh.. ya, i dunno about that one
Jun 16, 2016 5:55 AM - daniel871: Things are getting weird. The Southern Baptist Convention passed a resolution at a recent meeting of the convention to renounce displays of the Confederate flag on church property, much to the ire of many local Southern Baptist churches near where I live.
Jun 16, 2016 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: the southern baptist origins are rooted in racism.. i have zero sympathy or concerns about that they think
    Jun 16, 2016 5:56 AM - JeffTheMess: meh
Jun 16, 2016 5:57 AM - daniel871: Agreed there, it's just weird that it actually passed.
Jun 16, 2016 5:57 AM - JeffTheMess: anything to get on the news?
Jun 16, 2016 5:57 AM - JeffTheMess: for the likes?
Jun 16, 2016 5:58 AM - daniel871: Nope, it's just a thing that's quietly circulating in remote internet blogs and stuff.
Jun 16, 2016 5:59 AM - daniel871: I heard about it this morning as a background information tidbit as to why a bunch of so-called christians are getting mad about being able to display their racism symbol at church.
Jun 16, 2016 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: the confederate flag is not a symbol of racism
Jun 16, 2016 6:00 AM - daniel871: The Cornerstone speech where the entire foundation of the Confederacy was about racism begs to differ.
Jun 16, 2016 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm sure it begs for nothing
Jun 16, 2016 6:01 AM - daniel871: You know, the speech given at the founding of the Confederate government.
Jun 16, 2016 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: and the cornerstone speech was not about a flag
Jun 16, 2016 6:01 AM - daniel871: The flag is the symbol of the nation, and the nation was founded on racism, so.
Jun 16, 2016 6:02 AM - JeffTheMess: (the Confederate flag wasn't even the real flag)
Jun 16, 2016 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, dont waste your time Jeff
Jun 16, 2016 6:02 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: thanks jeff!
Jun 16, 2016 6:03 AM - JeffTheMess: you have a print travis from the new machine
Jun 16, 2016 6:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the y belt ends were printed on it, and the bed corner clips, and the part thats on it in the pics. But no pictures on me, ill take a few when i get home later
Jun 16, 2016 6:04 AM - daniel871: I know that the flag that people wave around wasn't the actual confederate flag, but that is beside the point that the only people to wave it are racists.
    Jun 16, 2016 6:05 AM - JeffTheMess: cool
    Jun 16, 2016 6:05 AM - JeffTheMess: agreed daniel
Jun 16, 2016 6:07 AM - daniel871: They had to remove all the pesky bits that made it look like a waving flag of surrender, after all.
Jun 16, 2016 6:07 AM - JeffTheMess: [IMG] no racism here
    Jun 16, 2016 6:08 AM - JeffTheMess: [IMG]
Jun 16, 2016 6:09 AM - daniel871: The second version was probably the funniest source of confusion when it was waving around on a battlefield.
Jun 16, 2016 6:09 AM - daniel871: Tiny red and blue symbol we're familiar with in one corner, the rest of it being a white sheet flapping around in the wind.
Jun 16, 2016 6:10 AM - daniel871: I mean, imagine this flapping around in a pitched battle. [IMG]
Jun 16, 2016 6:10 AM - daniel871: "Wait, is that a surrender flag or what?"
Jun 16, 2016 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: I have a confederate flag on my property. It's not a racist thing. People are such cry babies nowadays and don't research shit themselves
Jun 16, 2016 7:12 AM - daniel871: An actual historical confederate flag or the modern "This totes isn't racist, I swear (N-er N-er chicken dinner)" confederate flag?
    Jun 16, 2016 7:34 AM - toymaker: howdy
Jun 16, 2016 7:35 AM - toymaker: i think im gonna go ands buy a rebel flag just because people tell me i cant =\
    Jun 16, 2016 7:55 AM - JeffTheMess: free country apparently :)
Jun 16, 2016 7:55 AM - JeffTheMess: how are the deltas
Jun 16, 2016 7:57 AM - toymaker: working on calibrating.... when i go to print...it seems to make 2 moves then stops
Jun 16, 2016 7:57 AM - toymaker: so im just reviewing some info
    Jun 16, 2016 8:04 AM - JeffTheMess: your 99% there
    Jun 16, 2016 8:10 AM - JeffTheMess: Well... this is a song
Jun 16, 2016 8:48 AM - daniel871: Nobody says you can't have one, just expect everyone that sees it to think you hold racist beliefs.
Jun 16, 2016 8:57 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: im not racist i hate everyone equally
Jun 16, 2016 8:58 AM - JeffTheMess: thats the spirit travis
Jun 16, 2016 11:14 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: you know it!
Jun 16, 2016 3:12 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: Hi! I am in the process of installing my replacement bearings and pillow blocks. Should I pack some grease in the bearings?
    Jun 16, 2016 3:42 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: just regular lm8uu bearings?
Jun 16, 2016 3:42 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ive always used silicone/ptfe lubricant
Jun 16, 2016 3:44 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: yep standard replacement from Robo
Jun 16, 2016 3:46 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: I got some white lithium or 3in1 oil
Jun 16, 2016 3:51 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: just measured my smooth rods and they are actually 7.91mm which is giving me a loose fit with the bearing
Jun 16, 2016 5:19 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya, they all are, i bought new ones. they also arent steel if you have an r1+ they are damn alumiinum
Jun 16, 2016 5:20 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i dont and wont ever use an lm8uu ever again. they suck, khp style bearins on true 8mm hardened shafts are great, but then again i got rid of my y smooth rods and redesigned the whole thing
    Jun 16, 2016 5:21 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: [IMG]
Jun 16, 2016 5:21 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: I would ditch smooth rod y axis for sure, I will have a write up of my upgrade soon, its really accurate and tight
Jun 16, 2016 5:56 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: so guys, i put a new motor in it, 77oz, and it is still doing it, any way to check if its not getting enough voltage or if its cutting power while doing that? i have access to all 4 wires at the motor to get a reading, but what should it run at and when should it drop and what to, etc.
Jun 16, 2016 6:34 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok, so weird....i decided the best way to check if its the weight or drag of the bed was to run the motor without the belt on, and it still does it...what could that be? its like its just not getting enough power? voltage is at ~12.55v at the PSU and i swapped the x&y drivers, and still the same, unless both of those are bad?
Jun 16, 2016 6:36 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: so what else could possibly be the issue here? i mean i have a few extra fans wired in, and LEDs, but i unplugged them all and it still did it... so im lost!

Jun 17, 2016 4:28 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: hahaah nice!
Jun 17, 2016 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers tgif
Jun 17, 2016 5:47 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i almost thought that said ro-boners, ahaha
Jun 17, 2016 5:49 AM - JeffTheMess: lol dirty minds on the chat
Jun 17, 2016 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Jun 17, 2016 6:39 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: Morning!
Jun 17, 2016 6:43 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: so anyone have an idea of what this motor stalling could be from, still does it with zero load. I almost was starting to think endstop wire interference. thats the only other thing i changed because i broke the other one, so instead of a 5a( ss-5gl) switch, it has a lulzbot 3a(ss-3gl). Never had this issue before and i dont know much bout electronics in that sense...could 3a cause more interference than the 5a switch?
Jun 17, 2016 6:46 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: or could it just simply be that i cleaned up wiring harness and bundled the wires up nice and neat so that making more interference, and also moved the switch back so the switch itself is actually closer to the motor now. I also added a few fans to push air into the board and to pull hot air out from the top of the base, and i have a fan/heatsink on the y motor now, but it did this before i added that. could fans add interference?
Jun 17, 2016 6:49 AM - daniel871: Did you tune the stepper driver yet?
Jun 17, 2016 6:50 AM - daniel871: None of that other stuff should matter, the stepper driver has to be tuned to power the stepper properly.
Jun 17, 2016 6:53 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya, ive messed with it a bunch, from super low, to super high
Jun 17, 2016 6:54 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: now the interference would matter, i have read a ton of issues with endstops interfering with the stepper motor getting enough power, because the switch is a normally closed switch, so it acts as a coil
Jun 17, 2016 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: read about them in the internet?
Jun 17, 2016 7:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: what do you mean?
Jun 17, 2016 7:07 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ive personally seen "noise" from sensors before that were nc, havent seen it effect a motor personally, but apparently some have, so im just wondering if it could be interfering with it and not letting its magnetic field get full torque or voltage. i mean that is literally the only thin electrical wise that i changed, and it never did this before, so im not sure what else it could be, it has to be electrical because it does it without a belt on
Jun 17, 2016 7:08 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i mean is there really that much of a tiny sweet spot you have to find for the vref setting for a motor not to stall? because ive tuned it a ton trying multiple vrefs and it doesnt help the stall.
Jun 17, 2016 7:10 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: what else do you think it could be? had vref low, to where it was just working, all the way up to as high as it would go and obviously everywhere in between, and it didnt help
    Jun 17, 2016 7:43 AM - jbigler1986: Get a new driver
Jun 17, 2016 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: Hell if you want just replace all the drivers with 8825 drivers. Not needed
Jun 17, 2016 7:45 AM - JeffTheMess: (or get the smoothieboard)
Jun 17, 2016 8:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I swapped out the driver with the other drivers, and it still did it. Id like to go smoothie, but its not in the company budget right now. the point is, i had the accel almost 3 times higher before this stuff and it never stalled once. So im not sure how it could be a driver or the board just by upgrading mechanical stuff and putting in a few fans, cleaning up the wiring, moving and using a different switch on the y
Jun 17, 2016 8:05 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: im not sure how new drivers are going to fix this issue when none of the drivers are bad?
Jun 17, 2016 8:09 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: not to mention i freed up power by running a relay for another power supply just for the bed, im just wondering if it really could be interference, i do have all the wires bundled up together which i didnt before, and the stepper nor switch wires are shielded from emf type stuff. could it be either stalling the motor, or maybe even sending a false triggered signal to the endstop for a split second? it had a 5a now its a 3a switch,
Jun 17, 2016 8:09 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: so it does take less to trigger it, hence why it never happened before maybe?
Jun 17, 2016 8:19 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: what voltage should i be looking for on the motor when this happens? i can run a test on it while its running. if its stalling due to cutting power because of the driver or whatever, will it completely turn off the voltage to the motor or just drop it really low? i noticed that it drops to zero when it does this for a split second. and what about voltage settings in config.g
Jun 17, 2016 8:21 AM - JeffTheMess: how to set your driver
Jun 17, 2016 8:21 AM - daniel871: The stock Robo Ramps setup doesn't care about voltage settings in the firmware since it is manually tuned with the potentiometer. That only comes into play if you have a Rambo/Smoothie/etc. board that uses firmware driven potentiometers.
Jun 17, 2016 8:22 AM - daniel871: I would be questioning whether there is some kind of feedback coming from the relay controlling the separate power supply for the heated bed.
Jun 17, 2016 8:22 AM - daniel871: Assuming you aren't just dealing with a lot of bad stepper motors.
    Jun 17, 2016 8:23 AM - JeffTheMess: with robo...possible
Jun 17, 2016 8:31 AM - daniel871: Well, that kickstarter delta out of Luxembourg is still posting updates about where they are on the registration/etc. they have to do in their weirdo Euro moon country to legally sell stuff, so I guess that's a decent sign they actually intend to ship something.
Jun 17, 2016 8:31 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: its not the motors, i put a brand new one in the y yesterday. and it is only doing it when x and y both move at the same time right when it hits full speed on g28. come to think of it, im wondering if it could be interference giving a false trigger switch really quickly? and i will try unplugging the relay from the ramps completely, but this has been doing it with the bed off,
Jun 17, 2016 8:31 AM - JeffTheMess: when if the expected shipping date
Jun 17, 2016 8:32 AM - JeffTheMess: can you manually turn it on without gcode?
Jun 17, 2016 8:32 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the bed psu is wired to turn on with the switch on the back, so both come on at the same time, and then it relays power to the bed when told to supply heat.
Jun 17, 2016 8:33 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: manually turn on what without code?
Jun 17, 2016 8:34 AM - JeffTheMess: your talking about your relay staying on?
Jun 17, 2016 8:34 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the psu turns on with the printer when i flip the rear switch, both are wired into the rear power plug/switch, but doesnt send heat power until i heat it up from S3d
Jun 17, 2016 8:35 AM - JeffTheMess: you want it to heat up right away?
Jun 17, 2016 8:37 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: no, it doesnt come on unless the bed is told to heat up, so the input power to the bed psu is turned on with the regular psu, the relay doesnt supply power until i preheat it on s3d, or run gcode, the boards bed output switches on the relay to feed power to the bed
Jun 17, 2016 8:37 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: no nothing heats up right away unless i tell it to through s3d control panel, so its not on unless i hit preheat, or send gcode.
Jun 17, 2016 8:39 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: just like the regular psu powers on, feeds power to the board, and then the board switches on the heater when told to. its wired into the same ac switch that is on the back of the printer that feeds ac power to both psus
    Jun 17, 2016 8:40 AM - daniel871: I thought the X & Y homing switches were Normally Open.
Jun 17, 2016 8:40 AM - daniel871: With Z being the only one that is Normally Closed.
Jun 17, 2016 8:41 AM - daniel871: Also the printer is supposed to start shipping at the end of July, Jeff.
Jun 17, 2016 8:42 AM - daniel871: They say maybe earlier in July if the bureaucracy of registrations moves faster, but that's just a happy circumstance if it happens.
Jun 17, 2016 8:42 AM - JeffTheMess: have you seen it print stuff yet dan
Jun 17, 2016 8:43 AM - JeffTheMess: travis I guess im just confused at what your end goal is sorry
Jun 17, 2016 8:44 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: they are normally closed, thats how they are wired
Jun 17, 2016 8:45 AM - daniel871: I'm about 99% sure that the X & Y endstops should be wired Normally Open in order for homing to work properly.
Jun 17, 2016 8:45 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: my y axis motor is stalling on accel
    Jun 17, 2016 8:45 AM - JeffTheMess: oh ok
Jun 17, 2016 8:46 AM - JeffTheMess: i think dan is right about the endstops
Jun 17, 2016 8:46 AM - daniel871: Jeff, I've seen a timelapse of their early draft prototype printing some parts, and they're uploading timelapses of test prints every now and then, but the camera is set up really close to the build area so you don't see the entire printer.
Jun 17, 2016 8:46 AM - JeffTheMess: have you put that y motor on a different axis see if it stalls?
Jun 17, 2016 8:46 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: well they are on c and nc terminals.
Jun 17, 2016 8:47 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the firmware is set to invert for the z axis i believe.
Jun 17, 2016 8:47 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: it homes fine if the accel is lower than 400, anything over and it stalls very quickly
    Jun 17, 2016 8:48 AM - TRAVIS KEMP:
Jun 17, 2016 8:50 AM - JeffTheMess: I think you need new drivers
Jun 17, 2016 8:51 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: how do you figure? they worked fine before the upgrades with high accel, and electronically all i changed was the extra psu, and the endstop switch
Jun 17, 2016 8:52 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: if the accel is 400 it runs and prints amazing, no stall, or any issues at all
Jun 17, 2016 8:53 AM - JeffTheMess: well its a robo part, I had to change mine for dumb shit
Jun 17, 2016 8:54 AM - daniel871: You may have to live with 400 acceleration if that actually works fine and the issue only comes up at higher acceleration. There may be something coming into play in terms of torque feedback in the setup that sets off some safety measure.
Jun 17, 2016 8:54 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: all of them? i just dont get how they can work at lower accels, but not at barely higher... and it worked great at 900 before i did this stuff...
Jun 17, 2016 8:55 AM - daniel871: There was a ton of slop in the original setup though. Tighter tolerances on fit result in much tighter rigidity and alignment requirements to function properly.
Jun 17, 2016 8:55 AM - JeffTheMess: (i think Travis is finally feeling the robo "love'" :))
Jun 17, 2016 8:56 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: no, thats not possible, because i ran g28 without the belt on, so there is no LOAD and it still does it at anything over 400, when before it worked fine at 900...so couldnt be torque feedback without load.
Jun 17, 2016 8:56 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: belt OFF
Jun 17, 2016 8:57 AM - daniel871: Is there a data sheet for the stepper you're using that lists off an upper limit for current?
Jun 17, 2016 8:58 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: thats why it doesnt make sense, with the belt off of the motor there are no tolerances or friction or anything to deal with. so 900 accel worked fine with some load, and now with zero load it stalls?
Jun 17, 2016 8:58 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: well it did the same thing with the factory stepper motor too, so the motor specs dont matter really
Jun 17, 2016 8:59 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: but its the lulzbot 55n/cm motor
Jun 17, 2016 8:59 AM - daniel871: Leaning toward some kind of bad current path somewhere messing things up.
Jun 17, 2016 9:01 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: thats why i was thinking its interference because without load it should be able to accel well over 400. my theory was with the bit more power going to the coils, its triggering the switch, or with the more power needed for more accel the switch is keeping it from getting the needed power via emf..
Jun 17, 2016 9:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: how many volts does the board/driver supposed to feed the stepper? i got over 12v at the stepper motor. im not sure what its supposed to get or read when moving and when still
Jun 17, 2016 9:16 AM - JeffTheMess: 12V is fine its current that matters
Jun 17, 2016 9:19 AM - daniel871: I think 12 at the stepper motor itself may be a bit weird since the stepper driver is usually being set much lower than that.
Jun 17, 2016 9:20 AM - JeffTheMess: check with POT to ground
Jun 17, 2016 10:03 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: POT to grnd is how ive been doing adjustments and thats obviously under 1v
Jun 17, 2016 10:10 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: Its just odd how it did it out of no where only once i changed stuff around...
Jun 17, 2016 10:22 AM - JeffTheMess: i assume you switched drivers to test?
Jun 17, 2016 10:46 AM - daniel871: Yeah, he said he did that earlier.
Jun 17, 2016 10:48 AM - JeffTheMess: so both motor and stepper switched and still there
    Jun 17, 2016 10:49 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: YEP
Jun 17, 2016 10:49 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: sorry caps, im in inventor right now, lol
    Jun 17, 2016 10:50 AM - JeffTheMess: beautiful inventor
Jun 17, 2016 10:52 AM - JeffTheMess: might be software then or some deeper hardware
    Jun 17, 2016 11:11 AM - daniel871: LOL.
Jun 17, 2016 11:11 AM - daniel871: The kickstarter delta folks posted this partial time-lapse of one of them putting the redesigned base together.
Jun 17, 2016 11:12 AM - daniel871: I like how 10 seconds partway into it are spend looking for tools.
Jun 17, 2016 11:14 AM - daniel871: Also the random red blips in the timelapse from the guy's shirt as he's moving around.
Jun 17, 2016 1:21 PM - jim3Dbot: Stepper Motors Torque will Drop off towards zero at faster speeds, eventually to zero torque.........maybe during hard accel with/without a load, you are approaching max speed............
Jun 17, 2016 1:24 PM - jim3Dbot: You will see a stall like condition.......something to ponder.......also at resonance a stepper will go into current limit......resonance happens even without a load.........
Jun 17, 2016 1:26 PM - jim3Dbot: Once outta resonance.......even with more torque needed...the stepper will be fine........
Jun 17, 2016 1:29 PM - jim3Dbot: the drive choppers, control stepper current by frequency, at a certain point, resonance will happen...hence backlash, preloading, etc...to prevent oscillations....
    Jun 17, 2016 2:31 PM - JasonSolves: Daniel
    Jun 17, 2016 2:31 PM - JasonSolves: from 22 to 32 seconds is riveting
Jun 17, 2016 2:33 PM - JasonSolves: oh, you said that

Jun 17, 2016 3:48 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: Jimi the only issue with that is i used to run it perfectly with higher accel settings... and never skipped a step or backlash, or a single sign of a problem. i had (9000, 9000, 100, 10000) and then 700 on default accel. it never did this. without load it is still stalling, with settings of (7000,7000,100,10000) and 600 on default..
Jun 17, 2016 3:50 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i agree that can happen, but in this case, it ran at higher setting perfectly before, and all i added was a diff end stop switch(ss-3gl), mechanical mods, a relay and extra PSU(which i tried unplugging all together from the ramps board)
Jun 17, 2016 3:51 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: I mean when i set the PSUs i accidentally set the wrong one to 13v and then turned it back down to 12.25v so i had to mess with POTS on drivers, which ive tried everything from low, to high.
Jun 17, 2016 3:54 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: and at one point the power plug that goes to the ramps board was plugged in one pin off, BUT the only thing that happened was the fuse in the back by the power switch blew, which is there for exact mistakes like this, i replaced the fuse with a spade fuse just to be safe, and even replaced D2 diode to make sure it was good even though it blew the back fuse before any dmage could be done. That is literally EVERYTHING that has been done
Jun 17, 2016 3:54 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: since it was running at high accel
Jun 17, 2016 3:55 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: and Jeff idk how it could be software, i didnt change anything on the software, it was dialed in very well and ran perfectly.
Jun 17, 2016 5:26 PM - jim3Dbot: i agree that can happen, but in this case, it ran at higher setting perfectly before, and all i added was a diff end stop switch(ss-3gl), mechanical mods, a relay and extra PSU(which i tried unplugging all together from the ramps board)
Jun 17, 2016 5:28 PM - jim3Dbot: Key word may be, mechanical mods, accelin' with more load, means more torque required, other changes no issues..got that...
Jun 17, 2016 5:29 PM - Mike Glass: Hey Jim
    Jun 17, 2016 5:29 PM - jim3Dbot: Hey bud! How's it been going?
Jun 17, 2016 5:30 PM - Mike Glass: going great, how the hell have you been.
    Jun 17, 2016 5:30 PM - jim3Dbot: Well, leaving out the Trauma unit...okay
Jun 17, 2016 5:30 PM - Mike Glass: hmm doesnt sound fun.
    Jun 17, 2016 5:31 PM - jim3Dbot: 60 stitches in the head.....frankenstein
Jun 17, 2016 5:31 PM - Mike Glass: holy hell, what did you do?
Jun 17, 2016 5:33 PM - jim3Dbot: Helped my son move to new home. Pulling 10" 300# table saw from 4w Pickup. Started to tilt, top heavy, pushed me to the cement below, looked up, saw flipped, wackin' me in the head
    Jun 17, 2016 5:35 PM - jim3Dbot: Fell about 4 ft. from truck...........anyways, how's the laser business?
Jun 17, 2016 5:36 PM - Mike Glass: ouch, man hope your doing better,
    Jun 17, 2016 5:36 PM - jim3Dbot: Alive........
Jun 17, 2016 5:36 PM - Mike Glass: laser is going crazy specially for father day gifts.
    Jun 17, 2016 5:37 PM - jim3Dbot: Great, my 60watter is still a virgin.
Jun 17, 2016 5:37 PM - Mike Glass: business cards, and now im working on making scoreboards for a guy that is making shuffleboards
    Jun 17, 2016 5:37 PM - Mike Glass: oh 60 watter? nice
    Jun 17, 2016 5:38 PM - jim3Dbot: Scoreboards, wood?
Jun 17, 2016 5:38 PM - Mike Glass: yea wood and 16x32 led matrix
    Jun 17, 2016 5:39 PM - jim3Dbot: Nice, I'm sorry it's a 50watter, with the proverbial 40 watt tube.
Jun 17, 2016 5:40 PM - jim3Dbot: What you using to drive the matrix
Jun 17, 2016 5:40 PM - Mike Glass: oh thats what I have but plenty of power
Jun 17, 2016 5:40 PM - Mike Glass: arduino mega
    Jun 17, 2016 5:40 PM - Mike Glass: or a uno
Jun 17, 2016 5:41 PM - Mike Glass: still trying to figure out the programming
Jun 17, 2016 5:41 PM - jim3Dbot: Robo scorecard........uno are nice.........used them with the audio shield for sound effects..........
Jun 17, 2016 5:43 PM - jim3Dbot: Adafruit has alot of code there, I patched a few programs together to operate 100's of sound bites with the sd card....
Jun 17, 2016 5:44 PM - Mike Glass: yea, I have some code working but the letters are wonky, waiting to hear from adafruit for a week.
Jun 17, 2016 5:45 PM - jim3Dbot: wonky letters, not so good........whats her name lady layla?
Jun 17, 2016 5:46 PM - Mike Glass: lol, well wish she would answer my question its there code with the test the give and it does not look right, not sure if I have a newer board then there code supports.
Jun 17, 2016 5:48 PM - jim3Dbot: Hey, if you want to PM me your email address.... some news...
    Jun 17, 2016 5:49 PM - Mike Glass: k,
    Jun 17, 2016 5:50 PM - jim3Dbot: I got to run, but you will be interested...I think..........Take Care MG
Jun 17, 2016 5:50 PM - Mike Glass: thanks Jim, take care also, heal up bud.
Jun 17, 2016 7:23 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: lord, ive said a hundred times it does it with ZERO load lol. that means NO belt, NOTHING on the motor, meaning at that point there is NO mechanical difference between before and now...
Jun 17, 2016 8:13 PM - jim3Dbot: Lord, I said this once, Stepper Motors Torque will Drop off towards zero at faster speeds, eventually to zero torque.........maybe during hard accel with/without a load, you are approaching max speed............
    Jun 17, 2016 8:14 PM - jim3Dbot: during hard accel with/without a load
Jun 17, 2016 8:15 PM - jim3Dbot: Travis, I would rule this out first.......I've read your posts.........just tryin' to help........thanks Take Care & good luck......
Jun 17, 2016 8:23 PM - DMSMITH: Can't get printer to print until I lift the carriage a bit. Auto leveling seems to work but, no material from extruder
Jun 17, 2016 8:24 PM - DMSMITH: It seems like the hot tip is too close the table

Jun 17, 2016 9:32 PM - JasonSolves: DMSMITH.. I hope you found your offset
Jun 17, 2016 9:33 PM - JasonSolves: that has been my issue many times, after I adjust things or a new tip
Jun 18, 2016 7:48 AM - DMSMITH: Thanks Jason, I got it printing. I think the fix was turn the set screws, On to the next problem
Jun 18, 2016 7:49 AM - DMSMITH: Where should Auto Home place the print head? My belt mounts broke and I didn't set the table correctly
Jun 18, 2016 7:58 AM - jbigler1986: Print head should be touching the bed in about the middle of the bed
Jun 18, 2016 8:00 AM - DMSMITH: Thanks. I'm going to set it manually by disengaging the belts
Jun 18, 2016 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: What are you trying to do
Jun 18, 2016 8:09 AM - DMSMITH: Right now when I do auto home it goes all the way to the back of the table and when I Auto level it tries to go past the table
Jun 18, 2016 8:10 AM - DMSMITH: My strap mounts broke a while back and I didn't put the table back to right spot. I thought the auto leveling would have reset it but
    Jun 18, 2016 8:37 AM - Mike Glass: Donny
Jun 18, 2016 8:38 AM - donhuevo: sorry... I was reading back through to see what I missed
Jun 18, 2016 8:38 AM - Mike Glass: What up in your part of the woods?
Jun 18, 2016 8:39 AM - donhuevo: work's been crazy. thinking about changing up a couple things on my printer
Jun 18, 2016 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: the sudo robo?
    Jun 18, 2016 8:39 AM - donhuevo: yep
Jun 18, 2016 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: adafruit suck on there support btw.
    Jun 18, 2016 8:40 AM - donhuevo: start a new thread
Jun 18, 2016 8:40 AM - donhuevo: I've usually gotten same day responses
    Jun 18, 2016 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: I did, and nothing
    Jun 18, 2016 8:41 AM - donhuevo: well shit
Jun 18, 2016 8:41 AM - donhuevo: what are you stuck on
Jun 18, 2016 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: the test code they gave me does not show the correct text.
    Jun 18, 2016 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Jun 18, 2016 8:44 AM - donhuevo: what's it supposed to say?
Jun 18, 2016 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: does this on my scroreboard code as well, so not sure if this is a newer version or what.
    Jun 18, 2016 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: 16x32 *RGB*
Jun 18, 2016 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: it is just happening with the txt code, other code works fine.
    Jun 18, 2016 8:46 AM - donhuevo: it's almost legible
Jun 18, 2016 8:48 AM - donhuevo: where did you find libraries for this?
Jun 18, 2016 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: on the adafruit site
    Jun 18, 2016 8:51 AM - Mike Glass: https://www.adafruit.com/products/420
    Jun 18, 2016 8:53 AM - donhuevo: 6 data pins
    Jun 18, 2016 8:53 AM - donhuevo: wow
Jun 18, 2016 8:55 AM - Mike Glass: I may try with a uno board, Im using a mega right now.
Jun 18, 2016 8:58 AM - donhuevo: I don't think the uno would be faster but it's worth a shot
    Jun 18, 2016 9:00 AM - donhuevo: I'm guessing you've been on this page? https://learn.adafruit.com/32x16-32x32-rgb-led-matrix/new-wiring
Jun 18, 2016 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: yea, its working with other code fine just the text code.
Jun 18, 2016 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: assuming something in the fonts code
Jun 18, 2016 9:08 AM - donhuevo: it seems like only a couple rows are affected like maybe there might be a better library out there
    Jun 18, 2016 9:09 AM - toymaker: hi
Jun 18, 2016 9:11 AM - Mike Glass: hey toy
    Jun 18, 2016 9:11 AM - toymaker: lovng life with my bnew 34" 1440 x 3440 lg monitor =)

    Jun 18, 2016 9:12 AM - donhuevo: hi toy
Jun 18, 2016 9:14 AM - Mike Glass: Don, thats the code im using, there test code and library. doenst make sense.
Jun 18, 2016 9:17 AM - donhuevo: i'm opening up their library now
Jun 18, 2016 9:21 AM - donhuevo: the library seems to apply to both 16x32 and 32x32 matrices. I don't see where in the sample code that that's specified
Jun 18, 2016 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: where what is specified?
    Jun 18, 2016 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: matrix.setTextColor(matrix.Color333(7,0,0)); matrix.print('1');
    Jun 18, 2016 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: "1" is the text
    Jun 18, 2016 9:25 AM - Bill Monroe: mornin
Jun 18, 2016 9:25 AM - donhuevo: I'm not saying that something should be there but I don't know

Jun 18, 2016 9:28 AM - donhuevo: congrats! we're trying to figure out why mg's display is off a little
    Jun 18, 2016 9:28 AM - donhuevo: 16x32 neopixel matrix
Jun 18, 2016 9:29 AM - Mike Glass: Hiya Bill
    Jun 18, 2016 9:29 AM - Bill Monroe: i have no doubts you'll succeed
Jun 18, 2016 9:29 AM - Bill Monroe: hiya Mike
Jun 18, 2016 9:30 AM - Bill Monroe: man, it feels like the band is back together
    Jun 18, 2016 9:30 AM - donhuevo: it does
Jun 18, 2016 9:32 AM - donhuevo: mg, I found a scrolling text demo in the library download.... scrolltext_16x32. do you have it?
    Jun 18, 2016 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: yep
Jun 18, 2016 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: that works fine
Jun 18, 2016 9:35 AM - Bill Monroe: man, it's good to have a lil mexican coed in the house
Jun 18, 2016 9:38 AM - donhuevo: or it could be bad. very very bad.
Jun 18, 2016 9:39 AM - donhuevo: mg, look at the initial defines in the scrolling text demo and see if using any of those fixes your original example
Jun 18, 2016 9:39 AM - toymaker: hey don, bill
Jun 18, 2016 9:40 AM - donhuevo: like the thing marked (Use pin 11 on Mega)
Jun 18, 2016 9:40 AM - donhuevo: mk is here?
Jun 18, 2016 9:40 AM - toymaker: bill sell me your y-axis upggrade kit???
Jun 18, 2016 9:41 AM - Bill Monroe: hey.. ya know you can get everything you need on amazon, right?
Jun 18, 2016 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: yea 11 is what I have, the scrolltext uses a totally different code though.
Jun 18, 2016 9:42 AM - toymaker: not for me,, student parents, and not my money =)
    Jun 18, 2016 9:42 AM - toymaker: 75$?
    Jun 18, 2016 9:43 AM - Bill Monroe: something like that.. https://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Sc...1466267903&sr=8-2&keywords=nema+17+lead+screw
Jun 18, 2016 9:44 AM - Bill Monroe: i think the upgrade kit was like 110. but it came with plugs good to go. I think anyway, I never opened it
    Jun 18, 2016 9:44 AM - toymaker: take 75$ for it?
Jun 18, 2016 9:44 AM - toymaker: ill pay shipping too
Jun 18, 2016 9:44 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. i'll keep it, might be able to use it for something else
Jun 18, 2016 9:45 AM - donhuevo: I put two of these on my homemade printer for the z... http://www.robotdigg.com/product/245
Jun 18, 2016 9:45 AM - Bill Monroe: just get those amazon ones..
Jun 18, 2016 9:45 AM - Bill Monroe: that's whats on my printer now.. work fine, last long time
Jun 18, 2016 9:45 AM - Mike Glass: I have a new set of robo ones.
Jun 18, 2016 9:45 AM - toymaker: how percise are those z-steppers.. has anyone taken a indicator to check the run out?
    Jun 18, 2016 9:46 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
    Jun 18, 2016 9:46 AM - donhuevo: I wanted the extra 100mm print height
Jun 18, 2016 9:46 AM - Mike Glass: well you should of gone 600mm..lol
Jun 18, 2016 9:46 AM - Bill Monroe: yikes.. making lil washington monuments?
Jun 18, 2016 9:47 AM - donhuevo: the open builds vslot comes 500mm minimum. figured I'd make the most of it
Jun 18, 2016 9:48 AM - Bill Monroe: lord help me
    Jun 18, 2016 9:48 AM - Mike Glass: Yoda's

    Jun 18, 2016 9:50 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm tellin Geof you're making me uncomfortable :)
Jun 18, 2016 9:50 AM - donhuevo: haha! who the hell is Geof?
Jun 18, 2016 9:51 AM - Bill Monroe: never heard of him myself, but the site says he's the moderator
    Jun 18, 2016 9:51 AM - donhuevo: ah
Jun 18, 2016 9:52 AM - Bill Monroe: i thought it was the toys-r-us giraffe
Jun 18, 2016 9:53 AM - Bill Monroe: I played a blank tape on full volume. The mime who lives next door complained.
Jun 18, 2016 9:53 AM - donhuevo: mg, I'm going to do a side-by-side with the two examples and see if anything jumps out at me
Jun 18, 2016 9:54 AM - donhuevo: that's not funny Bill. Mimes are sensitive
Jun 18, 2016 9:54 AM - Bill Monroe: breakfast is ready... bbl
Jun 18, 2016 9:54 AM - donhuevo: reminds me of the movie Shakes the Clown

Jun 18, 2016 9:55 AM - Mike Glass: this is the only thing I see that it different. #define F2(progmem_ptr) (const __FlashStringHelper *)progmem_ptr
    Jun 18, 2016 9:58 AM - donhuevo: I think that's scrolling text specific
Jun 18, 2016 10:01 AM - donhuevo: I can't find the .ino for the original example
Jun 18, 2016 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: its on the test examples
    Jun 18, 2016 10:04 AM - Mike Glass: for the RGB-matrix-Panel-Master library
Jun 18, 2016 10:06 AM - donhuevo: this is what I'm seeing... [IMG]
    Jun 18, 2016 10:06 AM - Mike Glass: testshapes_16x32
Jun 18, 2016 10:07 AM - donhuevo: because letters have shapes
    Jun 18, 2016 10:07 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Jun 18, 2016 10:07 AM - Mike Glass: well the shapes are all wonky as well
Jun 18, 2016 10:09 AM - Mike Glass: and I have 2 of these matrix boards and it does it on both so has to be the code.
    Jun 18, 2016 10:10 AM - donhuevo: RGBmatrixPanel matrix(A, B, C, CLK, LAT, OE, true);
Jun 18, 2016 10:10 AM - donhuevo: scrolling text is true at the end, your example is false at the end
Jun 18, 2016 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: that doenst work at all
Jun 18, 2016 10:13 AM - Mike Glass: just blank when I use true.
Jun 18, 2016 10:13 AM - donhuevo: I'm also seeing that the scrolling text does it's work in void loop() but the shapes code puts everything in void setup(). It's just weird
Jun 18, 2016 10:14 AM - donhuevo: and is there any chance they're using two different versions of the RGBmatrixPanel.h file?
Jun 18, 2016 10:15 AM - donhuevo: that was a dumb question.. sorry
Jun 18, 2016 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: I check and deleted all my libraries and when to github to get the recent ones
Jun 18, 2016 10:16 AM - donhuevo: run the scrolling script again but define it's TextSize to 1 instead of 2
Jun 18, 2016 10:18 AM - Mike Glass: yea looks funky
Jun 18, 2016 10:18 AM - donhuevo: same kind of funky?
Jun 18, 2016 10:19 AM - Mike Glass: yea just about
Jun 18, 2016 10:23 AM - donhuevo: looking at RGBmatrixPanel.cpp is giving me a headache
    Jun 18, 2016 10:24 AM - Mike Glass: uint8_t be outdated?
Jun 18, 2016 10:25 AM - Mike Glass: guess that isnt a library though right
    Jun 18, 2016 10:25 AM - donhuevo: nope. unsigned 8 bit integer I think
Jun 18, 2016 10:27 AM - donhuevo: // Arduino Mega is now tested and confirmed, with the following caveats:
    Jun 18, 2016 10:27 AM - donhuevo: // Because digital pins 2-7 don't map to a contiguous port register,
Jun 18, 2016 10:27 AM - donhuevo: // the Mega requires connecting the matrix data lines to different pins.
    Jun 18, 2016 10:27 AM - donhuevo: // Digital pins 24-29 are used for the data interface, and 22 & 23 are
Jun 18, 2016 10:27 AM - donhuevo: // unavailable for other outputs because the software needs to write to
Jun 18, 2016 10:27 AM - donhuevo: // the full PORTA register for speed. Clock may be any pin on PORTB --
Jun 18, 2016 10:28 AM - donhuevo: // on the Mega, this CAN'T be pins 8 or 9 (these are on PORTH), thus the
Jun 18, 2016 10:28 AM - donhuevo: // wiring will need to be slightly different than the tutorial's
Jun 18, 2016 10:28 AM - donhuevo: // explanation on the Uno, etc. Pins 10-13 are all fair game for the
    Jun 18, 2016 10:28 AM - donhuevo: // clock, as are pins 50-53.
Jun 18, 2016 10:28 AM - donhuevo: and my headache is worse
    Jun 18, 2016 10:28 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Jun 18, 2016 10:30 AM - donhuevo: so I'm working on turning my y motor 90 degrees (lay it on it's side
Jun 18, 2016 10:30 AM - donhuevo: that should increase the clearance under the bed
    Jun 18, 2016 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: nice
Jun 18, 2016 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: I have pin 9 connected to the OE, is that wrong, its what shows in the diagram.
Jun 18, 2016 10:34 AM - donhuevo: it's written the same way in the scrolling code. The single row text height seems to be the issue. If you were to only display *RGB* but at text height two, I'm guessing it would look right
Jun 18, 2016 10:37 AM - Mike Glass: but why my cirlces and and rectangles look all wonky also.
Jun 18, 2016 10:37 AM - donhuevo: cause you spell them wrong?
Jun 18, 2016 10:38 AM - donhuevo: if you have an uno lying around, try that
Jun 18, 2016 10:38 AM - donhuevo: taking the dogs out... back in a few
    Jun 18, 2016 10:39 AM - Mike Glass: ok
Jun 18, 2016 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: still wonky with the text size 2
Jun 18, 2016 10:45 AM - donhuevo: you are NOT going to make me buy one of these things to do my own evil experiments on
Jun 18, 2016 10:46 AM - Mike Glass: crap I thought I had another uno, but its at work I guess
    Jun 18, 2016 10:47 AM - Mike Glass: wonder if a esp12e would work
    Jun 18, 2016 10:47 AM - Mike Glass: have 6 of those
Jun 18, 2016 10:48 AM - donhuevo: not if it has the same processor as the leonardo
    Jun 18, 2016 10:49 AM - Bill Monroe: back
Jun 18, 2016 10:50 AM - donhuevo: so the coed is 2.0's niece?
Jun 18, 2016 11:04 AM - toymaker: just retrammed my bed back to .003 all around
    Jun 18, 2016 11:04 AM - toymaker: i suggest everyone to get a granite surface plate =)
    Jun 18, 2016 11:05 AM - donhuevo: anything for a better Yoda
    Jun 18, 2016 11:06 AM - toymaker: i paid 300$ for a 24 x 36 x 4 grade A plate
Jun 18, 2016 11:06 AM - donhuevo: I remember when you got that.
Jun 18, 2016 11:06 AM - toymaker: been one of the best things i ever bought
Jun 18, 2016 11:07 AM - donhuevo: I think if I had one, it'd be the one thing I'd grab in the event of a tornado
Jun 18, 2016 11:07 AM - Mike Glass: would make a great cutting board
Jun 18, 2016 11:07 AM - toymaker: ive been secretly saving up for a nice height gauge
Jun 18, 2016 11:08 AM - toymaker: u can find used plates in craiglist fopr pretty cheap
    Jun 18, 2016 11:10 AM - toymaker: don it weight like 400lbs
Jun 18, 2016 11:10 AM - donhuevo: exactly. No way a tornado could take me away
Jun 18, 2016 11:10 AM - toymaker: duct tape and granite surface plates =)
    Jun 18, 2016 11:12 AM - toymaker: my friends company has a 5 x 10 ad they use it as a shiiping / recieving table =\
    Jun 18, 2016 11:12 AM - toymaker: what a waste
Jun 18, 2016 11:58 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: So i have a sainsmart board spare that i am going to try and see if it makes any difference. But i noticed it has 6 endstop pin sets, instead of the 3 that my board has, and it also has the pins under the stepsticks, for MS1,2,3. do I need to do anything with these? and how can i figure out which endstop pins are the same ones as my x,y,z pins?
Jun 18, 2016 12:00 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: also, i assume i just use E1 stepper/pins for the second Z motor? i figured its just a label difference correct?
Jun 18, 2016 12:06 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: I assume MS1.2.3 are for step type/count. So do i jump all 3 of them, or what stepping does the robo firmware run on?
    Jun 18, 2016 12:27 PM - toymaker: might have min / max for the endstops 3 x 2 = 6
Jun 18, 2016 12:28 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: right but im pretty sure robos are codes as all min?
Jun 18, 2016 12:28 PM - toymaker: their is m-code command for testing endstops
Jun 18, 2016 12:28 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: so from right to left i think it should be X, skip, Y, skip, Z
    Jun 18, 2016 12:28 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya i know m119
Jun 18, 2016 12:29 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: but it just makes it easier if i can plug them in the right spot
Jun 18, 2016 12:29 PM - toymaker: thats what i woudl try and test it with the m119 command
Jun 18, 2016 12:29 PM - toymaker: or find a wiring diagram on the interwebs
Jun 18, 2016 12:31 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya i think i just found on actually, the robo board is weird compared to the others, plugs for leds and fans, when most people wire into the supply. and it has ms1,2,3 already jumpered. just odd
Jun 18, 2016 12:32 PM - toymaker: i think that might be fore the micro stepping
    Jun 18, 2016 12:32 PM - toymaker: depend what combo of pins u jump = diff stepps 1, 4, 8, 16 i think
    Jun 18, 2016 12:33 PM - toymaker: i think all jumped = x16
Jun 18, 2016 12:34 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i think so too, just all jumped with its neighbor

Jun 18, 2016 12:35 PM - toymaker: cheap ramps 1.4 boards dont hav he micro stepping jumpers = robo board lol
Jun 18, 2016 12:37 PM - toymaker: lets me het this straight = robo worked ... u did your y-upgrade ( robo no longer works correctly) ?
Jun 18, 2016 12:38 PM - toymaker: u disconnect evey thing from the y-axis stepper ... and your robo still doesnt work right?
Jun 18, 2016 12:40 PM - toymaker: and u also using a stepper driver for each z motor?
Jun 18, 2016 12:40 PM - toymaker: or running both z - stepper motors off 1 stepper driver?
Jun 18, 2016 12:44 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: each z has a step, and ya i did the upgrade and now on high accel, the same as it was, anything over 400, has a quick stall, even without the belt on. I changed the endstop switch cuz i broke the last one thats it
Jun 18, 2016 12:45 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i di plug in the power plug to the ramps by one pin off on accident but it blew thew rear tube fuse where thepower plug is, so maybe it hurt the board
    Jun 18, 2016 12:55 PM - 3D Printer Man: sup
Jun 18, 2016 12:58 PM - Bill Monroe: ya need to take some scothbrite and lighly polish the turbo-framulator until the marzelvanes remain steady during rapid Y Axis translational trajectories.
    Jun 18, 2016 1:03 PM - donhuevo: no, it's the Fetzer valve
    Jun 18, 2016 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: ?
Jun 18, 2016 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: what you napping now Don?
Jun 18, 2016 1:05 PM - donhuevo: The Fetzer valve is from the movie Fletch
    Jun 18, 2016 1:06 PM - donhuevo: and a nap sounds good
Jun 18, 2016 1:07 PM - donhuevo: and Travis, did you put the x motor on the y driver and test that?
Jun 18, 2016 1:08 PM - Mike Glass: aw yes fletch. loved that movie
Jun 18, 2016 1:09 PM - Bill Monroe: naps should always follow consumption of copious amounts of bacon
Jun 18, 2016 1:13 PM - toymaker: so travis...what your sayn is..if u went back to the orginal y-axis all yyour problems woudl go away?
Jun 18, 2016 1:36 PM - donhuevo: found it... this is Travis' robo effing up...
Jun 18, 2016 1:37 PM - DMSMITH: Has anyone ever heard a chirp at the end of auto leveling?
Jun 18, 2016 1:38 PM - donhuevo: like an electronic beep?
    Jun 18, 2016 1:38 PM - DMSMITH: yes
    Jun 18, 2016 1:39 PM - DMSMITH: I don't ever remember having that before
Jun 18, 2016 1:40 PM - donhuevo: any chance an M300- code found it's way into your start gcode?
Jun 18, 2016 1:44 PM - donhuevo: oh, and do you have an LCD attached?
Jun 18, 2016 1:45 PM - DMSMITH: I do have an LCD. I do have the M300 in the Start G-code
    Jun 18, 2016 1:46 PM - donhuevo: that's a beep
    Jun 18, 2016 1:46 PM - donhuevo: http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code#M300:_Play_beep_sound
Jun 18, 2016 1:48 PM - DMSMITH: Thanks. When I do Auto Home the print head goes to the back of the table and grinds, because it is trying to go off the table
Jun 18, 2016 1:49 PM - donhuevo: your y motor may be plugged in backwards
Jun 18, 2016 1:49 PM - DMSMITH: In order to keep it from grinding during auto leveling I have to push the table all the way back
Jun 18, 2016 1:49 PM - DMSMITH: I have done dozens of prints without a problem
Jun 18, 2016 1:49 PM - donhuevo: ah... check and see if you're wires are getting in the way of the bed hitting it's limit switch
Jun 18, 2016 1:50 PM - DMSMITH: The Y switch is under the table right? It's clear
Jun 18, 2016 1:50 PM - donhuevo: is anything making the bed movement harder when it gets close to the switch?
Jun 18, 2016 1:51 PM - donhuevo: sounds like something is binding
Jun 18, 2016 1:56 PM - DMSMITH: The Y switch only checks when the table goes all the way back, not when it goes all the way to the front
Jun 18, 2016 1:58 PM - donhuevo: home should be with the bed all the way back
Jun 18, 2016 1:58 PM - donhuevo: there is no limit switch for the bed being all the way forward
    Jun 18, 2016 1:58 PM - donhuevo: that's set in software
Jun 18, 2016 1:58 PM - donhuevo: what software are you using?
Jun 18, 2016 1:59 PM - DMSMITH: I've tried to release the belt and position the table in the home position, for some reason it still goes all the way back
Jun 18, 2016 2:00 PM - donhuevo: when you home y, does the bed go all the back or all the way forward?
Jun 18, 2016 2:02 PM - donhuevo: and again, what software are you using?
Jun 18, 2016 2:03 PM - DMSMITH: Using Matter Control to export to an SD card then into the LCD
    Jun 18, 2016 2:04 PM - DMSMITH: How should I sent the Y home?
Jun 18, 2016 2:05 PM - donhuevo: when you home y, does the bed go all the way back or all the way forward?
Jun 18, 2016 2:06 PM - DMSMITH: When you say home Y, do you mean Auto home via the LCD? If so, the table goes all the way forward
Jun 18, 2016 2:08 PM - donhuevo: home is home. the table should go all the way back and hit the limit switch (I'm assuming the side that says ROBO3D on the base is front)
Jun 18, 2016 2:09 PM - donhuevo: let me download and install matter control and I'll see if I can take some screenshots
Jun 18, 2016 2:11 PM - DMSMITH: I don't have Matter control connected to the printer. I use the LCD for control
Jun 18, 2016 2:14 PM - donhuevo: matter control creates all the movements based on it's settings. Most importantly build volume
Jun 18, 2016 2:16 PM - donhuevo: are we in agreement that the side with the word ROBO on it is the front? if so, is the bed moving all the way to the front still what's happening when you home?
Jun 18, 2016 2:17 PM - DMSMITH: I agree, thanks man for the help. The table sticks out the front
Jun 18, 2016 2:18 PM - DMSMITH: I've been cheating on prints by pushing the table all the way back before auto leveling runs
Jun 18, 2016 2:18 PM - donhuevo: then I think your motor is reversed. In some software (not MatterControl)( there's a checkbox to reverse an axis). You may have to open the bottom and flip your y motor plug
Jun 18, 2016 2:19 PM - DMSMITH: It that is true why can I print stuff?
    Jun 18, 2016 2:19 PM - DMSMITH: If that ...
Jun 18, 2016 2:20 PM - DMSMITH: I have only had this problem since replacing my belt clips, never use to be a problem
Jun 18, 2016 2:20 PM - donhuevo: I'm thinking it would still work fine. The prints would face the back of the bed instead of the front?
Jun 18, 2016 2:21 PM - donhuevo: the y limit switch is toward the front of your printer, right?
Jun 18, 2016 2:21 PM - DMSMITH: That would make sense but, I have never noticed it flipping the prints. Would the connector orientation be the same for the X and Y?
Jun 18, 2016 2:22 PM - donhuevo: if you mean should the wire colors be in the same order? not necessarily
Jun 18, 2016 2:22 PM - DMSMITH: It sits in the middle of the printer but it would only be activated if the table goes all the way back
    Jun 18, 2016 2:23 PM - DMSMITH: Yes, bummer
Jun 18, 2016 2:23 PM - donhuevo: right. If we push the bed all the way back and carriage all the way left, the nozzle is over the front left corner of the printing area. This is home (0,0)
Jun 18, 2016 2:25 PM - DMSMITH: that is what I had in the past.
Jun 18, 2016 2:26 PM - DMSMITH: Now it is going to the back of the table and in the middle
Jun 18, 2016 2:26 PM - DMSMITH: I just looked at the pins on the X and Y and they are not the same color orientation
Jun 18, 2016 2:26 PM - donhuevo: if you flip the y motor plug on the board, it should start moving the right way. X homes to the left still though, yes?
Jun 18, 2016 2:27 PM - DMSMITH: Makes sense to me
Jun 18, 2016 2:28 PM - donhuevo: is the x moving to the left when you home?
Jun 18, 2016 2:29 PM - DMSMITH: It does and bounce against the left switch. Ok, made the switch, firing it up
    Jun 18, 2016 2:29 PM - donhuevo: fingers crossed
    Jun 18, 2016 2:30 PM - DMSMITH: LOL
Jun 18, 2016 2:31 PM - DMSMITH: Ok, it went left ..... and ... the head is in the center with the table all the way back
Jun 18, 2016 2:31 PM - donhuevo: so it hit the y limit switch?
    Jun 18, 2016 2:31 PM - DMSMITH: On my LCD it say x120, y127
Jun 18, 2016 2:32 PM - DMSMITH: Let me run auto leveling
    Jun 18, 2016 2:32 PM - DMSMITH: via a print
Jun 18, 2016 2:32 PM - donhuevo: something else may be screwy with your y settings.
Jun 18, 2016 2:34 PM - donhuevo: y at 127 should be near the middle of the print area
    Jun 18, 2016 2:36 PM - DMSMITH: I wonder if I'm confusing the situation.
Jun 18, 2016 2:36 PM - donhuevo: when it homed, did it trigger the y limit switch this time?
Jun 18, 2016 2:36 PM - DMSMITH: checking X would be left to right and Y is forward to backward?
Jun 18, 2016 2:37 PM - donhuevo: bed all the way back and carriage all the way left and the nozzle is pointing at coordinates (0, 0)
Jun 18, 2016 2:37 PM - donhuevo: that's where both the x limit switch and y limit switch are both activated
Jun 18, 2016 2:38 PM - DMSMITH: Understood, what is the best way to get it there?
    Jun 18, 2016 2:39 PM - donhuevo: G28 is move to origin
Jun 18, 2016 2:42 PM - DMSMITH: So, I see the G28 in my Start G-code, going to open a new print file and run it
Jun 18, 2016 2:44 PM - DMSMITH: Is there a way to enter a G28 code from the LCD?
Jun 18, 2016 2:45 PM - donhuevo: if you home with the LCD, it has to move to origin first
Jun 18, 2016 3:01 PM - nonmindo: anyone around with exp with 123d?
Jun 18, 2016 3:01 PM - donhuevo: what is that?
    Jun 18, 2016 3:02 PM - nonmindo: 123d design
    Jun 18, 2016 3:02 PM - nonmindo: like tinkercad
    Jun 18, 2016 3:02 PM - nonmindo: im having a scale issue
    Jun 18, 2016 3:02 PM - donhuevo: I do autocad. sorry
Jun 18, 2016 3:02 PM - nonmindo: i have the units set to mm in 123d and designed the part with the measurements i need, but when i try to toss it into MC it prints out like WAY larger
Jun 18, 2016 3:03 PM - donhuevo: is there an inch vs mm switch?

    Jun 18, 2016 3:03 PM - nonmindo: in 123d?
    Jun 18, 2016 3:03 PM - donhuevo: yes
Jun 18, 2016 3:03 PM - nonmindo: i already set the units to mm for the build plane
Jun 18, 2016 3:03 PM - nonmindo: and all the measurements of the part when using the measure tool are reporting in mm too
    Jun 18, 2016 3:06 PM - donhuevo: dunno
    Jun 18, 2016 3:06 PM - donhuevo: sorry
Jun 18, 2016 3:06 PM - nonmindo: lol no worries
Jun 18, 2016 3:06 PM - nonmindo: im going to figure it out...somehow
Jun 18, 2016 3:09 PM - DMSMITH: Don, Thanks for all the help
    Jun 18, 2016 3:10 PM - donhuevo: was I any help?
Jun 18, 2016 3:12 PM - nonmindo: i mean, as best help you could be not having the app :)
Jun 18, 2016 3:12 PM - nonmindo: so, thank you still!
    Jun 18, 2016 3:12 PM - donhuevo: oh, I know I didn't help you, I was asking Smitty
    Jun 18, 2016 3:12 PM - donhuevo: and sorry
    Jun 18, 2016 3:13 PM - nonmindo: hahahaha
Jun 18, 2016 3:13 PM - nonmindo: no worries, not at all
Jun 18, 2016 3:13 PM - nonmindo: ya'll have been super helpful in the past with other things :)
Jun 18, 2016 3:14 PM - donhuevo: I'm actually downloading 123d right now. didn't know it was free
Jun 18, 2016 3:14 PM - nonmindo: I'm super new to modeling, didnt have a good place to try and do it at my place since i live in a 10x10 room, no next lol
    Jun 18, 2016 3:14 PM - nonmindo: yea so is fusion 360
Jun 18, 2016 3:14 PM - donhuevo: curious how close it is to autocad
Jun 18, 2016 3:14 PM - nonmindo: autocad just makes my head hurt looking at it
Jun 18, 2016 3:14 PM - nonmindo: its SUPER basic in comparison
Jun 18, 2016 3:14 PM - nonmindo: /just/ the right amount of tools to make basic things
Jun 18, 2016 3:14 PM - nonmindo: it doesnt have the edit tree or anything
Jun 18, 2016 3:15 PM - donhuevo: installing it now
Jun 18, 2016 3:15 PM - nonmindo: I work at Boeing and they use probably the most confusing cad program, Enovia or Catia
Jun 18, 2016 3:16 PM - donhuevo: I've gotten pretty efficient with autocad. a guy with an eye patch gave it to me and a girl on youtube taught me how to use it
Jun 18, 2016 3:16 PM - nonmindo: i think i figured it out, its weird, so when i use the "measure" tool and click on 2 points the size comes up what I wanted it to be, but when i used the ruler tool and placed it on the buildp lane, it doubled it
Jun 18, 2016 3:16 PM - nonmindo: so i scaled the part down there and we'll see
Jun 18, 2016 3:17 PM - nonmindo: yea i was looking for that guy for simplify3d, wanna give it a shot
Jun 18, 2016 3:17 PM - nonmindo: bbut i didnt wanna put up the $, they dont have a demo program, i mean, unless you pay then use for 14d
Jun 18, 2016 3:18 PM - nonmindo: i've heard reeeealy good things about simplify3d so i'll likely just buy it in a couple weeks
Jun 18, 2016 3:18 PM - DMSMITH: Nonmindo, have you ever tried FreeCAD
Jun 18, 2016 3:18 PM - donhuevo: I'll be totally honest. I had the the eye patch version even though it was several versions from current and it sold me on buying it
    Jun 18, 2016 3:19 PM - nonmindo: of s3d?
    Jun 18, 2016 3:19 PM - donhuevo: yep
    Jun 18, 2016 3:19 PM - DMSMITH: No, it's open source
    Jun 18, 2016 3:19 PM - nonmindo: @dm nope, i have 123d and fusion360
Jun 18, 2016 3:19 PM - DMSMITH: There are a ton of great Youtube tutorials and a great community
Jun 18, 2016 3:19 PM - donhuevo: the printed supports practically fall off. Definitely a cut above the rest
Jun 18, 2016 3:20 PM - nonmindo: @don yea, i had that one too, but it wreaked havoc with my alienware programs cause of the older version of .net being required, so it was short lived
Jun 18, 2016 3:20 PM - nonmindo: the eyepatch dude needed to use newer version of .net with his license lol
Jun 18, 2016 3:21 PM - nonmindo: @dm there are a ton for 123d too, i just wanted to toss something together really quick didnt wanna go learn about it just yet
Jun 18, 2016 3:21 PM - nonmindo: i should probably get it still though since im new to modeling, might find one of the many apps easier than another
Jun 18, 2016 3:22 PM - nonmindo: brb going over to other computer to print
Jun 18, 2016 4:12 PM - DMSMITH: @don - Found part of the problem. I had changed my Start up g-code to fix another problem around Z level
Jun 18, 2016 4:13 PM - DMSMITH: @don, What do you have for your Start up G-code

    Jun 18, 2016 4:19 PM - DMSMITH: thanks
Jun 18, 2016 4:21 PM - donhuevo: those variables are S3D style. Not sure how they translate to MC
Jun 18, 2016 7:21 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: don, i tried a whole new stepper motor in y
Jun 18, 2016 7:22 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: iv got a higher torquer motor for y now, and it still does it, im about to try this sainsmart board, maybe it messed something up when that power plug was plugged in a pin over..
Jun 18, 2016 7:23 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: also, don, why do you have the absolute code in starting? s3d does that on its own in the background?
Jun 18, 2016 7:29 PM - donhuevo: my scripts have bounced from repetier to cura to a couple others and finally s3d. that's probably why it's still there
Jun 18, 2016 7:37 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: oh ok got ya. You think the board could be bad from input power being plugged in one pin off? it blew the on/off switch fuse, so i figured it blew that before any damage to the board could be done
Jun 18, 2016 7:38 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: also, the factory wires going to the 11a/5a on robos, is that gauge sufficient? ive got 2 fans running right off of that connector as well, and some LEDS in the led plugs and a couple other fans(whic i have unplugged and still did this)

Jun 18, 2016 at 10:01 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: so i put the new board in, and plugged the second z motor into the spot for the second extruder, and it doesnt run it, how is that possible?
Jun 18, 2016 at 11:06 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok i figured out the z issue, and got it together, but i decided to take the belt off of the X, because apparently it was both x/y doing it at the same time. I put my fingers on the gear while doing g28, and its not nearly as bad as it was, but i feel like a studder, very slight but enough, just like a little jump or jerk. Its almost like its on the decel part of the movement, like right before or right when it reaches its destination
Jun 18, 2016 at 11:50 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: it did subdue the problem significantly by changing the board, so thats weird. But i did get it to run good on 600 accel, not 700 like before, but im about to say whaterver hah
Jun 19, 2016 at 12:01 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I also have a new set of 5 DRV8825s coming on tuesday, i figured id give them a try, what is the advantages of these? and how can i do 1/32 microstepping? or is it possible?
Jun 19, 2016 at 5:49 AM - jbigler1986: You just move the jumper pins to change the microsteps
Jun 19, 2016 at 5:52 AM - Mike Glass: JB
    Jun 19, 2016 at 11:23 AM - jbigler1986: MG
Jun 19, 2016 at 11:23 AM - jbigler1986: MK I see your name down there
Jun 19, 2016 at 12:39 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok, i just didnt see which pins were for 1/32. I have all jumped right now.
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:24 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: good lord, now the weirdest thing is happening, everything workes except for the extrude motor, no driver, no other motor i plug into E0 will work
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:24 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: any ideas?
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:34 PM - donhuevo: is the pot turned down too far?
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:35 PM - toymaker: is this the board u plugged the power into the wrong pins?....
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:35 PM - toymaker: hey don
    Jun 19, 2016 at 1:37 PM - donhuevo: hola
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:47 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: nope pot is fine, even swapped with a working driver and working motor plug, this is th new board, never been used.
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:48 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: hell atleast the old board worked with the extruder, even after plugging in wrong. Maybe ill just use the old one, but that is weird
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:48 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: does the extruder still get all 3 pins jumped?
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:50 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: if i was to get a good 2in1 board, is there any major changes i have to make? or is it as simple as uploading my ard file to it and thats it?
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:51 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: just doesnt make sense why this extruder doesnt work now?
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:52 PM - donhuevo: are you preheating?
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:57 PM - toymaker: theiris a minimal temp u can change in the firmware
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:57 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya, it was preheated and was running my purge line before a print, then i realized the motor wasnt turning lol
Jun 19, 2016 at 1:58 PM - toymaker: i must be lucky... i bough a linear acutator for my y-axis... plugged the motor in / mounted and off i was printing again
    Jun 19, 2016 at 1:59 PM - toymaker: try e1 instead of e0?
Jun 19, 2016 at 2:01 PM - toymaker: purge line?
Jun 19, 2016 at 2:02 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i purge a line of material before every print, makes adhesion way better.
Jun 19, 2016 at 2:03 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: and it just started working, all i did was lowered the min temp to 20*, which it was @185, and was heated to 245 and still didnt work? IDK, iswitched around a driver and lost track so maybe it was the bad one lol ,
Jun 19, 2016 at 2:03 PM - toymaker: go back to dual motors on 1 stepper for z, change your extruder to the good working driver
Jun 19, 2016 at 2:04 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: but i am using the one driver for both z motors for now. which i dont really like, but im not using auto level so does it really make a difference?
Jun 19, 2016 at 2:04 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: nd what advantages will i have with my ne DRV8825 drivers?
Jun 19, 2016 at 2:04 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: also which pins for 1/32?
Jun 19, 2016 at 2:04 PM - toymaker: google my friend
Jun 19, 2016 at 4:30 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: lamee

Jun 20, 2016 at 3:57 AM - jbigler1986: That would be my answer too. I don't recall which ones need jumped
Jun 20, 2016 at 3:58 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: haha, ill figure it out
Jun 20, 2016 at 4:10 AM - daniel871: Jump all of the pins.
Jun 20, 2016 at 4:10 AM - daniel871: Also, someone is putting political signs to good use. [IMG]
Jun 20, 2016 at 4:37 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: haha, hell ya they are. and what i saw was that all 3 were 1/16th
Jun 20, 2016 at 4:37 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i have all 3 jumped now and it runs fine?
    Jun 20, 2016 at 5:32 AM - daniel871: Someone really hates wasps.
Jun 20, 2016 at 5:35 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: HAH nice

Jun 20, 2016 at 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: Took me 2 seconds to Google it
Jun 20, 2016 at 6:21 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: well how sweet are you! lol thanks man! i would have done it once they get here tomorrow, hah, im not sure if 1/16 - 1/32 will make a difference, ever heard anything like wise?
Jun 20, 2016 at 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: So do you have the 8825 drivers already?
Jun 20, 2016 at 7:59 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: Do you guys know the A/Phase for the Stepper Motors? I am going to calibrate my drivers but I cannot seem to find a model number or anything on the stepper motors
Jun 20, 2016 at 8:06 AM - daniel871: I know that for the popular Kysan steppers that are used in upgrades it's 1.5A/phase, but no idea where to look it up on the stock garbage steppers.
Jun 20, 2016 at 8:09 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: right I can't find anything on these stock steppers
Jun 20, 2016 at 9:26 AM - jbigler1986: That's because they make sure there is no branding or anything on them
Jun 20, 2016 at 9:29 AM - donhuevo: sup jb
Jun 20, 2016 at 9:29 AM - daniel871: I think 1.5A/phase is pretty close to the accepted standard though.
Jun 20, 2016 at 9:29 AM - daniel871: It just comes down to the quality of the components used, like everything else.
    Jun 20, 2016 at 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: Sup don
    Jun 20, 2016 at 12:11 PM - BryZad: Hey all what's up
Jun 20, 2016 at 1:54 PM - Ryan TeGantvoort: anyone have an easy way to align the Extruder Stepper with the Hobbed Bolt?
Jun 20, 2016 at 3:01 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: ill have them tomorrow!
Jun 20, 2016 at 3:03 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: the hobbed should be just a tad off center, it should self align...

    Jun 21, 2016 4:44 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning roboneers http://sintratec.com/kit
Jun 21, 2016 5:08 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: oh ya i saw that not long ago, affordable and nice! We thought about getting one in the next year.
Jun 21, 2016 5:14 AM - JeffTheMess: ive seen one you can make somewhere
Jun 21, 2016 5:18 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: oh boy, that sounds like large project, lol, I dont have the time to design one and test and then make the final version or i would, not to mention i hate messing with code/c++ crap lol
Jun 21, 2016 5:19 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: id rather pay the ~$4k lol
Jun 21, 2016 5:19 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: probably have 2 in it before it ever made a print making your own lol
Jun 21, 2016 5:21 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, hey did you solve the problem you were having?
Jun 21, 2016 5:32 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: eh i guess, Ill have my new drivers today, i got it able to run at 600 accel, just not 700 like before, which is still baffling to me. So I will try it with the new drivers and see how that goes, but either way 600 is better than the 380 that i originally got stuck with, So its printing pretty amazing prints actually, I was just trying to speed it up, because its so accurate now with no axis play or vibration, that I can print as fast as it
Jun 21, 2016 5:32 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: wil go without skipping.
Jun 21, 2016 5:33 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: thanks for the help by the way, either way i think 1/32 steeping with the 8825s will be better and more accurate/quicker moves, from what i have heard, but idk if anyone on here can agree with a difference between the old sticks and 8825s @ 1/32?
Jun 21, 2016 5:37 AM - JeffTheMess: can the arduino handle that?
    Jun 21, 2016 5:41 AM - JeffTheMess: the resolution
Jun 21, 2016 5:43 AM - JeffTheMess: i think ive read that with 16 MHz clock speed it could only handle up to a certain step resolution
    Jun 21, 2016 5:44 AM - JeffTheMess: intel has a "arduino" at 32 Mhz I believe
Jun 21, 2016 5:49 AM - JeffTheMess: alot of websites go up to 1/16 not sure if thats the max because of the limited 16MHz clock
Jun 21, 2016 5:50 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: from what ive heard plenty of people run 1/32. Thats the main advantage of the 8825s apparently. and if for some reason it doesnt, ill un-jump one pin, lol And really intel does? how hard is that on the pocket-book? will it run on arduino software/configs? I might have to look into that.

Jun 21, 2016 5:51 AM - JeffTheMess: and has Bluetooth
Jun 21, 2016 5:52 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: from a quick search it appears to sometime be an issue with repetier, but marlin apparently is lighter so i guess it varies on ability to handle it.
    Jun 21, 2016 5:56 AM - JeffTheMess: possible
Jun 21, 2016 5:56 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: my knowledge is limited on arduino stuff, but is it possible to "over-clock" a mega2650? and are there 32mhz versions? I would like to get something with better clock speed, but without having to completely redo my config files and all of that
    Jun 21, 2016 5:57 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: 2560*
Jun 21, 2016 5:57 AM - JeffTheMess: the chip is rated for I think 18-20Mhz no 32MHz version
Jun 21, 2016 5:58 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: wait im not infront of it, is it 2650 or 2560? i see both online
Jun 21, 2016 5:58 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: and ok, so is it possible to overclock to 20 then?
    Jun 21, 2016 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Jun 21, 2016 5:59 AM - JeffTheMess: yes but I dont know how and I believe it can mess with the code
    Jun 21, 2016 5:59 AM - JeffTheMess: Morning Bill
    Jun 21, 2016 6:00 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: mornin'!
Jun 21, 2016 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: looks like it uses the same specs as your normal everyday arduino
Jun 21, 2016 6:00 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the intel version?
    Jun 21, 2016 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: so could work, I'd ask @WheresWaldo
    Jun 21, 2016 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: yes

    Jun 21, 2016 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: its called the arduino 101
Jun 21, 2016 6:01 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: got ya, Ill have to ask him, Id like to be able to give my file to someone who knows coding well and have them modify it for the intel board.
Jun 21, 2016 6:01 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok awesome, thanks!
    Jun 21, 2016 6:01 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.roche-bobois.com/en-US/product/furtif-small-desksuch a pretyy desk
Jun 21, 2016 6:02 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah I'd like to see if he says its doable or not, he's on the frontline with marlin
Jun 21, 2016 6:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: got ya, thank you! It would be far more accurate
Jun 21, 2016 6:04 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: whats the last link u sent?
    Jun 21, 2016 6:04 AM - JeffTheMess: a beautiful table

Jun 21, 2016 6:05 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: "The 101 adds Bluetooth Low Energy capabilities and has an on-board 6-axis accelerometer/gyroscope"
Jun 21, 2016 6:06 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: that would be nice, no USB just bluetooth from my workstation!
Jun 21, 2016 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah Bluetooth could be a great addon in Marlin
Jun 21, 2016 6:06 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: thats sick! we are getting ready to move, and Im getting a new desk, that would be nice to add!
Jun 21, 2016 6:07 AM - JeffTheMess: dont get me jealous by getting one
Jun 21, 2016 6:07 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya for sure, I've seen the bluetooth piggyback cards, but never thought of it, does it have to be setup some way in marlin to work with connectivity to the desktop?
Jun 21, 2016 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: I don't think so maybe somehow with the ras Pi setup that people have but at that point might as well use the pi but you can't beat the clock speed
Jun 21, 2016 6:10 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: im sure its way out of my price range, i dont see the price or how to buy..
Jun 21, 2016 6:11 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: right, i have no use for the pi yet really. and what do you mean, beat the clock speed of what?
Jun 21, 2016 6:11 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: $5-6k for that desk, hahah
Jun 21, 2016 6:15 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: well the 101 uses the same sketch software as we currently use, so it couldnt be too far off, the way it sounds is its just a super fast updated mega
Jun 21, 2016 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: right but I think the sketches were written with the 16M in mind, Im not to keen with marlin though
Jun 21, 2016 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: The robo design isn't rigid enough to go a while lot faster than 100mm/s with all that weight on the x axis
Jun 21, 2016 6:25 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i wonder if this could be an option as well https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoBoardZero
Jun 21, 2016 6:26 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: this isnt really a robo anymore, ive upgraded it with my own designs
    Jun 21, 2016 6:27 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: [IMG]
    Jun 21, 2016 6:27 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: [IMG]
Jun 21, 2016 6:29 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: its VERYYY rigid now. vibration dampers at every point of contact. everything is braced and supported in some way. The x axis has actual steel rods, and KHP bearings instead of the lm8ewws
Jun 21, 2016 6:30 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: the left and right Z carriages i guess could use a redesign, but i didnt see any need as of yet, its prett rigid once everything else was tied in, and got rid of auto level, all of this increased speed, overall time of print processes, and accuracy GREATLY
    Jun 21, 2016 6:30 AM - JeffTheMess: wow 48 Mhz
Jun 21, 2016 6:32 AM - JeffTheMess: problem may be the number of pins
Jun 21, 2016 6:33 AM - JeffTheMess: arduino needs to make a mega at 32M
Jun 21, 2016 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: Start going to fast and you will need to change the extruder design. Gregs wade will start to strip filament especially when retracting
Jun 21, 2016 6:34 AM - JeffTheMess: will the titan work?
Jun 21, 2016 6:44 AM - JeffTheMess: how fast are you trying to go? 50-60 is good enough for me
    Jun 21, 2016 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:892451
Jun 21, 2016 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: Not sure how fast the Titan is good up to honestly
Jun 21, 2016 7:54 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: hell ive been printing at over 100 just fine on larger parts, haven had any stripping. but i planned to do the titan at some point. maybe duals
Jun 21, 2016 7:55 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya i saw the bondtech deal a while back, heard good things about them, just seems a tad large if you mounted it the direction the stock one is mounted.
Jun 21, 2016 8:00 AM - daniel871: I think the Titan is less about pure speed and more about reducing the inertia of the axis it's mounted on in a direct drive installation.
Jun 21, 2016 8:03 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya true, but im sure it would out perform wades in speed as well. I wouldnt mind doing the bondtech, i wonder if a nema 14 would work with enough torque since its geared,
    Jun 21, 2016 8:15 AM - JeffTheMess: should
Jun 21, 2016 8:37 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I kinda like the idea of the titan, i dont see why the bondtech would be any better though..
Jun 21, 2016 8:38 AM - JeffTheMess: its brute force the filament which may do good with speed
Jun 21, 2016 8:41 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: but how do you figure the bondtech giving more force than the titan? gearing wise would be the same with a planet setup on bondtech
Jun 21, 2016 9:07 AM - daniel871: The dual drive gears are interlocked so that the filament has to strip before the motor will skip steps.
Jun 21, 2016 9:09 AM - JeffTheMess: what Dan said
Jun 21, 2016 9:12 AM - daniel871: A bondtech can still fail to drive the filament, but it will be due to a mother of a clog or failure of a bowden clip to hold the tube or something and not due to the bondtech skipping steps.
Jun 21, 2016 9:13 AM - daniel871: Like that Bondtech I put on the i3 I have, it works great until some flaw in the filament itself comes into play (out of spec diameter jamming the bondtech intake hole, for example).
Jun 21, 2016 9:15 AM - JeffTheMess: thought nothing can stop bondtech
Jun 21, 2016 9:15 AM - daniel871: Bondtech didn't stop, filament snapped at the intake hole and the gears pushed what it had past said gears.
Jun 21, 2016 9:16 AM - daniel871: Print failed and I had the fun job of cleaning out the resulting hotend clog, but the bondtech itself is an uncaring bitch and will grind anything you feed it into the hotend.
Jun 21, 2016 9:18 AM - JeffTheMess: they should be able to see current drop once the filament starts to go thin and stop before it makes a mess
Jun 21, 2016 9:18 AM - daniel871: Woo, just got an Amazon.com email about a Kindle related settlement on some lawsuit.
Jun 21, 2016 9:18 AM - daniel871: $30 gift card to use as I see fit on books.
Jun 21, 2016 9:19 AM - daniel871: Also come on, the steppers are on an open loop system that cannot track the actual current location of the machine, how are they going to implement filament detection that will save a print?
Jun 21, 2016 9:20 AM - daniel871: At least the safety bits of how it is coded will halt all machine movements if the machine loses it's place in a program (as opposed to an old open system CNC we had at work that would just take a rapid traverse in a given axis direction when it lost it's place).
Jun 21, 2016 9:20 AM - daniel871: Which would happen any time the power flickered in the building.
Jun 21, 2016 9:21 AM - JeffTheMess: im surprised no one has tried a closed system yet
Jun 21, 2016 9:22 AM - daniel871: I think the N2 Raise or whatever it is is supposedly closed loop, but I'm not 100% sure on the name.
Jun 21, 2016 9:24 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: cool muscle makes closed loop steppers..
Jun 21, 2016 9:24 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: they are quite bad ass.
Jun 21, 2016 9:25 AM - daniel871: That would be the next logical upgrade to a given 3d printer if you really wanted to make damn sure the printer follows the gcode.
Jun 21, 2016 9:26 AM - JeffTheMess: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTW2MN17j-L12h8Jq5fGGt8VV1ISZT-De this series is fucking me up I need a setup
Jun 21, 2016 9:27 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: cool muscle motors? ya i know. they arent cheap but they would be worth replacing one or two at a time lol. But im not sure how a closed stepper works as far as drivers go, since the driver is technically in the motor, idk if you still have to run a driver on the board to complete a circuit or not
    Jun 21, 2016 9:28 AM - daniel871: Here's someone's paper on modifying an MCube printer to do it. https://digital.lib.washington.edu/...e/1773/26048/Weiss_washington_0250O_13644.pdf
Jun 21, 2016 9:28 AM - JeffTheMess: closed or open system filament can still mess up the print

Jun 21, 2016 9:28 AM - daniel871: Never print in cheap PLA or ABS again, always print in PETG or one of Taulman's filaments.
Jun 21, 2016 9:29 AM - JeffTheMess: but it is the next logical step to be like its older brother the paper printer
Jun 21, 2016 9:31 AM - daniel871: I've only had filament feed issues when doing cheap PLA filament prints. ABS is ABS. But PETG/T-glase/PET+ have always run really well.
Jun 21, 2016 9:32 AM - daniel871: They're just relatively slow and require really getting retraction settings/etc. dialed in.
Jun 21, 2016 9:32 AM - JeffTheMess: if your print were to stop how much "ooze" comes out?
Jun 21, 2016 9:32 AM - JeffTheMess: for tglase and petg
Jun 21, 2016 9:35 AM - daniel871: Depends on whether the stop is due to a failure that shuts off the heater or not.
Jun 21, 2016 9:36 AM - daniel871: If the filament just stops feeding then eventually whatever was in the melt zone drips out and my only job to clean the clog is remove the bondtech and pull out the filament in the pre-melt-zone area.
Jun 21, 2016 9:37 AM - daniel871: If it's a halt/stop failure that shuts off the heater then nothing drips (and the print is stuck to the nozzle until I reheat the hotend and manually jog the Z-axis up).
Jun 21, 2016 9:37 AM - daniel871: But the MK10 all-metal is weird in that the melt zone is incredibly short.
Jun 21, 2016 9:38 AM - daniel871: Any retraction more than 1mm is asking for a clog, basically.
Jun 21, 2016 10:39 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i dont ever have any clogging or binding or any filament issues at all. All i print is PET/G, nylons/pctpe, polycarb, somme reinforced materials, and taulman stuff like guidel!ne.
Jun 21, 2016 10:39 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: hell i wont even print PLA anymore, i honestly dont see any use for PLA or ABS,
    Jun 21, 2016 11:18 AM - Bill Monroe: https://www.faa.gov/news/press_releases/news_story.cfm?newsId=20515.
Jun 21, 2016 11:27 AM - JeffTheMess: just got the email too
    Jun 21, 2016 11:34 AM - Bill Monroe: it's typical FAA
    Jun 21, 2016 11:36 AM - daniel871:
Jun 21, 2016 12:32 PM - daniel871: Here's a little something for the "And nobody anywhere was surprised" news report of the day: http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/news/a46035/michael-jackson-underage-porn-report/
    Jun 21, 2016 12:34 PM - JeffTheMess: NSFW
Jun 21, 2016 12:41 PM - daniel871: Nothing specifically NSFW there, it's a celebrity news blurb confirming what pretty much everybody has known since... the 1980s?
Jun 21, 2016 2:56 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: SO 1/32 ON THE DRV8825, IS MAKING STUTTER STEPS WHEN MOVING, LIKE ITS INTERMITTEN, LIKE IT TAKES MULTIPLE JERKS TO MAKE A FULL MOVEMENT, GUESS ILL GO TO 1/16?
Jun 21, 2016 2:56 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: sorry bout caps!
Jun 21, 2016 3:03 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: what can i do to get 1/32 working besides doubling my steps, already did that, but its pulsing for moves
    Jun 21, 2016 4:44 PM - 3D Printer Man: Sup
Jun 21, 2016 5:38 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: what up
Jun 21, 2016 5:39 PM - toymaker: im pretty sure torque falls off with the higher stepping...
Jun 21, 2016 5:40 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: just go back to 16?, will i really even tell a difference with the 1/32?
    Jun 21, 2016 5:40 PM - toymaker: i doubt it...
Jun 21, 2016 5:40 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: and without using 1/32 on the 8825s, will there be any improvements from me using these?
Jun 21, 2016 5:41 PM - toymaker: i think the 8825 can gandle more juice
Jun 21, 2016 5:41 PM - toymaker: but dont quoteme on that =)
    Jun 21, 2016 5:44 PM - toymaker: i still think your better off with 24volt than 12
Jun 21, 2016 5:45 PM - toymaker: my ballscrew is like 90% effiecent so i can move my 5lb bed around like nothing ( than again im running a pretty beefy stepper motor on that axis)
Jun 21, 2016 5:47 PM - toymaker: what i need is a better way to mount my bed to the ballscrew.. how to do u go about tramming your bed with your setup?
Jun 21, 2016 6:14 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: knobs and springs on the corners, no abl needed
Jun 21, 2016 6:16 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: so i went back to what i read was 1/16 step, and good god is the acceleration 10 times better and faster and smoother, with zero hiccups...but one problem, its going all the way to the end of the X to where it sets the z offset, which is supposed to be in the middle...its acting like its on 1/8th maybe? but good lord am i glad i got these drivers, maybe i did have sketchy drivers, its smooth as hell, and if thats true then i can maybe crank the
Jun 21, 2016 6:16 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: vref lol

Jun 22, 2016 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: pretty OK.. one more step down to getting a CNC mill
Jun 22, 2016 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: and you?
Jun 22, 2016 5:24 AM - JeffTheMess: laughing that Hillary's campaign is hacked again and Trump is broke
Jun 22, 2016 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: i seriously doubt trump is broke
Jun 22, 2016 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: might be greed but he is firing people left and right from is campaign team
Jun 22, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: he does that, and it's to be expected when a candidate shifts from getting their parties' nom to fighting the other party.. different strategy

    Jun 22, 2016 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: anyway...
Jun 22, 2016 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: my bunker is will supplied, my guns are at the ready, and I'll have a small manufacturing plant capable of making stuff I might need... I'm ready :)

    Jun 23, 2016 5:06 AM - jbigler1986: Well it's been a great morning so far.
Jun 23, 2016 5:08 AM - daniel871: I wasn't aware that anybody that led those attacks was running for President.
Jun 23, 2016 5:09 AM - daniel871: Unless Trump recently made the mistake of claiming credit for that in the middle of all the other things he likes to say he's done that never happened.
Jun 23, 2016 5:11 AM - daniel871: Blaming someone in the US as directly responsible for a failure that happened in a foreign location that was actually the fault of the local regional commanders of the military we have stationed there is idiotic, as well.
    Jun 23, 2016 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: I'm voting for Trump.
Jun 23, 2016 5:15 AM - jbigler1986: Hilary should be in prison already
Jun 23, 2016 5:18 AM - daniel871: I'm more inclined to not bother voting because neither of the main candidates are worth voting for.
Jun 23, 2016 5:19 AM - daniel871: Trump is a fucking joke, Hillary is only surviving on "Hey, remember how the economy was last time a Clinton was President?"
Jun 23, 2016 5:20 AM - daniel871: Things would be more interesting if the literal socialist and "Lucifer in the flesh" had won their respective primaries.
Jun 23, 2016 5:36 AM - jbigler1986: No Clinton is surviving on her being a female
Jun 23, 2016 6:00 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: have u ever wondered how someone at work even has a job when they appear to be clueless about engineering and lean processes...when thats what they are in charge of? literally doesnt know the product, and is actually hurting performance more than helping it, when everything worked fine before, i just dont know how people can lie their way through a job and not even ask questions before they fuck something up! sorry, #endrant
Jun 23, 2016 6:02 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i dont like trump, but good christ he is better, hell anyone is better than that dumb cun....
Jun 23, 2016 6:15 AM - jbigler1986: I want Trump because I think he is going to do some crazy off the wall shit. Should be interesting. Can't get any worse than the piece of shit POTUS we have now
Jun 23, 2016 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: I just want to see mexico pay for a wall lol
    Jun 23, 2016 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
Jun 23, 2016 6:59 AM - jbigler1986: Hell I don't care if we have to pay for the damn wall
Jun 23, 2016 7:24 AM - daniel871: I'd like to see an all new round of Pink Floyd concerts resulting from it.
    Jun 23, 2016 7:29 AM - daniel871:

Jun 23, 2016 7:52 AM - toymaker: lol local regional commander....
Jun 23, 2016 7:53 AM - toymaker: sry i almost fail out of my chair as i reading that daniel...i have coffe stuck in my nose now from laughig so damn hard]
Jun 23, 2016 7:54 AM - toymaker: next you gonna tell me it was the fault of a youtube video
Jun 23, 2016 8:01 AM - daniel871: No, the fault lies with the person in the area that denied requests for additional security, not with politicians back home that are not empowered to make military decisions.
Jun 23, 2016 8:03 AM - daniel871: The Secretary of State cannot order (or deny) military reinforcements to any given area (that's the Secretary of Defense).
Jun 23, 2016 8:08 AM - daniel871: So, you know, if you want to blame someone for failing to properly secure the Benghazi area, blame Leon Panetta (the guy with the actual authority to approve or deny requests for additional security in that area), not Hillary Clinton.
Jun 23, 2016 8:09 AM - daniel871: Makes more sense anyway since he was formerly of the CIA (and we all know how good a job they do when it comes to reacting quickly to threats).
Jun 23, 2016 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: Sounds like you like Hilary. No thanks
Jun 23, 2016 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: I'm not just talk I no about thay shit situation. Her personal servers and classified information stuff is just plain stupid
Jun 23, 2016 8:25 AM - toymaker: acutally its the secretary of state that in chartge of embassy secuerity via the forgien service act of 1946
Jun 23, 2016 8:36 AM - toymaker: she also lied to the victim families =\
Jun 23, 2016 8:37 AM - toymaker: and lied about being under sniper fire..just sayn
Jun 23, 2016 8:37 AM - toymaker: and email server....
Jun 23, 2016 8:46 AM - daniel871: Embassy security is under the Diplomatic Service and Chief of Mission offices when it comes to the actual details of how many RSOs to assign to a given embassy. So again, still not Hillary that is responsible for approving or denying reinforcements or acting in response to an attack.
Jun 23, 2016 8:46 AM - daniel871: And I don't like Hillary any more than I like Trump. But blaming people for shit they have no control over is stupid.
Jun 23, 2016 8:50 AM - daniel871: It's like those people that blame George Bush for 9/11 happening.
Jun 23, 2016 8:50 AM - daniel871: (the ones that do so seriously, not the ones that make jokes about it)
    Jun 23, 2016 9:02 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Jun 23, 2016 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: 9/11 was our government doing

    Jun 24, 2016 9:59 AM - danzca6: E3d made life a bit easier...
Jun 24, 2016 10:06 AM - Geof: Was it really all that bad though ? Lol
Jun 24, 2016 10:07 AM - danzca6: no, but I know a lot of folks complain about the thermistor of old
Jun 24, 2016 10:15 AM - jbigler1986: Robo has been doing it for a while
Jun 24, 2016 10:17 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: So, ive got this crazy project to do for a customer, it will be painted and outside 100% of the time, through Ohio winter and summer. I figured a PETG would be best, I like the Guideline stuff, But what do you guys think, its detailed, large, and multi-pieced, so, needs to be strong and temp resistant, but not be a pain to print, NO ABS
Jun 24, 2016 10:18 AM - Geof: PETG, XT, NGEN maybe. I dont know all the conditions that your going to experience but thats where I'd start. What is the max extremes. You'll also want to put a UV coating on the print to protect it from sunlight over time.\
Jun 24, 2016 10:22 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: its a mailbox of a companies product, Ohio max "fee" ~105ish id say, and minimum would be -10. It will be painted by their paint department, with the paint they use on their outside enclosures the create. so the plastic will not see the UV.
Jun 24, 2016 10:24 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I was just worried about it baking in the sun, it gets hot here, but maybe im over reacting. I just know @ 180 is when the PETG got soft with my tests. I just am not sure if could really get that hot inside the mailbox in the sun.
Jun 24, 2016 10:24 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: maybe i should also prime it with a thin coat of outdoor plastic primer? for a little extra temp deflection?
Jun 24, 2016 10:26 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: Tom @ taulman told me I should be fine with guideline, and man that stuf is awesome. But I still worry. Hell I saw a few PLAs with super high, dishwasher safe type temps, but would HT pro PLA be ok long term, since it will get primed, and painted?
Jun 24, 2016 10:30 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: I need a material that will do small details well, be able to print decently fast, hold up to heat when painted with an outdoor paint, specifically Cummins Green from Cummins, and not be brittle, needs to last. But will be assembled with heat set thread inserts, and methacrylate plastic bond.
Jun 24, 2016 10:30 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: it will also get sandblasted lightly before painting of course.
    Jun 24, 2016 11:01 AM - NFOsec: Greetings earthlings.
    Jun 24, 2016 11:01 AM - danzca6: nano nano
Jun 24, 2016 11:02 AM - NFOsec: Well, don't hang yourself at my presence.
Jun 24, 2016 11:02 AM - NFOsec: how goes danz?
    Jun 24, 2016 11:02 AM - danzca6: great...getting things caught up finally
Jun 24, 2016 11:03 AM - danzca6: how about you? doing anything cool
Jun 24, 2016 11:08 AM - NFOsec: Well, I printed the CowTech 3D scanner platform and parts in 2 variations PLA and PETG.
Jun 24, 2016 11:09 AM - NFOsec: Been modeling up some custom solar light holders for my cedar fence hooks, they look good, but I'm experimenting with different filaments (bronze, aluminum, GLOD, PLA Yellow, etc.)
Jun 24, 2016 11:09 AM - NFOsec: bronze seems to be the nicest so far. kind of weathers like a wood tone.
Jun 24, 2016 11:10 AM - NFOsec: doing lots of laser stuff as well, and getting prepped up for my deposition with the defendant's attorney next week. how about you?
Jun 24, 2016 11:11 AM - NFOsec: Oh, I started modeling some radical blade guards for the DJI PHantom3 Pro I have, simple curved guards were boring, so I'm putting in LED ropes on the underside... I haven't found a PETG or something transparent enough for me to thread a LED roping into an assembled part.
Jun 24, 2016 11:14 AM - danzca6: that awesome...I've been slammed at work for the past few weeks and trying to get things done around the house. So I am hoping to get back into 3d printing some projects on the back burner
Jun 24, 2016 11:27 AM - NFOsec: Yeah, kind of the same around here, but you have to force yourself to take a creative break at times.
Jun 24, 2016 11:31 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: anyone use Colorfabb HT or NGEN, for higher temp stuff/outdoors. Im just wondering how muc different it really is than a PETG deflection wise. I know a car can get up to 80+c on hot days, and if this project is going to be outside for years, granted its thick, and mechanically strong, and painted with good cummins paint, I almost want to go with a Polycarb, but you think thats overkill?
Jun 24, 2016 11:32 AM - NFOsec: Well, for the high temp stuff I've been using the Taulman BluePrint and the 910. Haven't used the NGEN or HT at all.
    Jun 24, 2016 11:33 AM - NFOsec: 80+c or 80+F. C sounds a bit hot.
Jun 24, 2016 11:33 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: See i thought about the blueprint, but heard it can be a bit brittle?
Jun 24, 2016 11:33 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: they (google) says cars have been read at upto 190f!!
Jun 24, 2016 11:33 AM - NFOsec: I haven't had problems with it once printed, but sometimes it can be brittle if not properly stored.
Jun 24, 2016 11:34 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: so i figured an enclosed mailbox would face similar temps.
    Jun 24, 2016 11:34 AM - NFOsec: yeah.
Jun 24, 2016 11:34 AM - NFOsec: yeah, unless you design some smart vents.
Jun 24, 2016 11:34 AM - NFOsec: vents were you allow hot air to escape without allowing liquids or other elements in.
Jun 24, 2016 11:35 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: with a outdoor plastic primer for some temp help, and then cummins primer and green paint on top of that, do you think that much heat will get to the core of the prints?
Jun 24, 2016 11:35 AM - NFOsec: I want to print a glue or snap-together project, something big like a chair, etc.
Jun 24, 2016 11:35 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: its the paint they use on their outdoor enclosures, its for a company who builds those
Jun 24, 2016 11:36 AM - NFOsec: there are primers that are designed to seal and there are those that are designed to coat and allow adhesion.
Jun 24, 2016 11:36 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya, this is going to be large, with heatset thread inserts and plastic epoxy meant for PETs, so i dont want the heat to let the inert threads loose, or distort smaller features
Jun 24, 2016 11:37 AM - NFOsec: if you're trying to seal against elements, you may have to prime, seal, prime paint or seal, prime, paint quite possibly.
Jun 24, 2016 11:37 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: right, the one for plastic would be a regular outdoor plastic primer, its said to seal and adhere blah blah..
Jun 24, 2016 11:38 AM - NFOsec: I would look at what primer was used for the sintec boards that are common HDF boards used in CNC routing signage. I just can't remember the name at the moment, but those protect against UV (fading) as well as weathering.
    Jun 24, 2016 11:38 AM - jbigler1986: Sup NFO
Jun 24, 2016 11:38 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ya, it will be water tight design, and all joints bolted and epoxied, then a thin coat of XTC after sand blsating, then the plastic primer, and then their paint process, im pretty confident that will be ok
Jun 24, 2016 11:40 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: ok got ya. im not really worried about UV or plastic weathering as it will all be coated and primed and painted. but I will look into that paint, a plastic sealer maybe of some sort?
Jun 24, 2016 11:40 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: i was thinking of a thin coat of some high temp paint primer.
Jun 24, 2016 11:41 AM - NFOsec: yeah, UV protection stuff though is what I've heard was key.
Jun 24, 2016 11:41 AM - NFOsec: Bill Monroe would know, we had this discussion a long while back.
Jun 24, 2016 11:42 AM - NFOsec: lol, buy 55 gallon drum of the plasti-dip tool sealing stuff.
    Jun 24, 2016 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: There you go. Plasti-dip is cool stuff
Jun 24, 2016 11:43 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: lol, ya that shit is cool, but would kill the details lol
Jun 24, 2016 11:44 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: so does blueprint shrink or warp, and is it similar to a PETG? strngth wise?
Jun 24, 2016 11:45 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: if it was you, after having printed it, would you print this with blueprint? not sure how details are, and how quick printing is and how strong...
Jun 24, 2016 11:45 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: does anyone know what kind of plastic blueprint is?
Jun 24, 2016 11:48 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: colorfabb HT has a tested deflection temp of 94c, 201f...does anyone see a mailbox getting that hot ever? haha
Jun 24, 2016 11:49 AM - NFOsec: Death Valley, Arizona, Nevada areas are possible.
Jun 24, 2016 11:49 AM - NFOsec: but I think they rely on smoke signals now for mail.
Jun 24, 2016 11:51 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: hahah, true, ohio...not so much
Jun 24, 2016 11:51 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: well ill just go with that, screw it.
Jun 24, 2016 11:51 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: but what are your thoughts on blueprint?
Jun 24, 2016 11:51 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: does it shrink/warp? print easy?
Jun 24, 2016 11:52 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: strong as PETG? and do you know if it is a PET family?
Jun 24, 2016 11:53 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: well they boiled colorfabb ht, and didnt deform, so thats pretty damn crazy.
Jun 24, 2016 11:53 AM - NFOsec: It is a High Thermal 6000 PSI FDA approved polymer.
Jun 24, 2016 11:54 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: and made intake manifold runners for a small race car...and used them. I guess this would be my best bet, but its so damn expensive, oh well, im not doing it for charity lol
Jun 24, 2016 11:54 AM - NFOsec: industrial high termal clear polymer is what is on my spool, taulman3d.com I think is the website.
Jun 24, 2016 11:54 AM - NFOsec: mm... gotta run, meeting in a few minutes.
Jun 24, 2016 11:54 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: damn, thats right its fda stuff. hmmm.
Jun 24, 2016 11:54 AM - TRAVIS KEMP: cool thanks!

Jun 25, 2016 6:58 AM - Gregg Teaby: I have a duel nozzle design that is still is CAD. it is very compact, you would only loose 6.5mm in both X & Y a axis.
Jun 25, 2016 7:00 AM - Gregg Teaby: I have designed a fixture to set both nozzles a the same z axis height. Both nozzles are quick release.
    Jun 25, 2016 7:01 AM - jbigler1986: Bowden?
    Jun 25, 2016 7:01 AM - jbigler1986: Or direct drive
Jun 25, 2016 7:01 AM - Gregg Teaby: My question is how can I drive another extruder motor for the 2nd nozzle? This will be a Bowden system
Jun 25, 2016 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: Depends on how old your Robo is
Jun 25, 2016 7:03 AM - Gregg Teaby: I have very complex parts that will require using PVA so I don't have hours of trying to remove support material.
Jun 25, 2016 7:05 AM - jbigler1986: Normally you need another driver for the ramps, fan extender, 2nd geared steppers for bowden, change settings in the firmware, test print, adjust settings
Jun 25, 2016 7:05 AM - jbigler1986: What kind of bowden extruders are you going with?
    Jun 25, 2016 7:06 AM - NFOsec: word.
    Jun 25, 2016 7:06 AM - jbigler1986: Sup NFO
Jun 25, 2016 7:08 AM - Gregg Teaby: This is designed with the intent of only using PVA. With the nozzle fixture I could have the 2nd nozzle set higher, the one for PVA, then have the software jog it down for printing the support material
Jun 25, 2016 7:09 AM - NFOsec: nadalotta, just doing some clean up of the work area, etc. this morning. you?
Jun 25, 2016 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: Packing stuff. Me and the new lady just bought a new house.
    Jun 25, 2016 7:09 AM - NFOsec: that's cool, congratulations.
Jun 25, 2016 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: Greg that sounds like a huge hassle to do it that way
Jun 25, 2016 7:09 AM - NFOsec: moving is never fun, but unpacking is. hah.
    Jun 25, 2016 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: Thanks NFO
Jun 25, 2016 7:10 AM - Gregg Teaby: I will design a duplicate extruder, just like the one one the carrage, and mount them remote
Jun 25, 2016 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: Well we needed more land. Got 5 acres and it has 5 barns/garages so I can finally have a huge shop
Jun 25, 2016 7:11 AM - NFOsec: yeah, I'm sure you want your lady to get out there and graze from time to time, the more land the merrier. er I mean your pets.
Jun 25, 2016 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: Also came with a free skid steer and trailer just because they didn't want to haul it to texas
    Jun 25, 2016 7:11 AM - NFOsec: :)
    Jun 25, 2016 7:11 AM - NFOsec: nice.
Jun 25, 2016 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: The new lady says I can get a lathe and laser as well. She is pretty amazing
Jun 25, 2016 7:13 AM - NFOsec: yeah, you can get anything you want as long as you just pay for it. lol.
    Jun 25, 2016 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: Haha. Tell my ex that
Jun 25, 2016 7:13 AM - NFOsec: I do recall some earlier comments, sounds like she's a great catch.
Jun 25, 2016 7:14 AM - NFOsec: well. you had no business marrying a child in the first place.
    Jun 25, 2016 7:14 AM - jbigler1986: True story
Jun 25, 2016 7:15 AM - jbigler1986: How are things in your neck of the woods
Jun 25, 2016 7:16 AM - NFOsec: fair and focused I would say. I am having my deposition next week for the idiot who hit me almost 2 years ago... liability is already established, admitted, and on record they were 100% at fault, but you know the drill, the defense attorney wants to know how well you clean up in case they go to court.
Jun 25, 2016 7:17 AM - NFOsec: with my credentials, etc., they're going to wish that the plaintiff was a HS dropout and unemployed bum.
Jun 25, 2016 7:19 AM - NFOsec: I have suffered enough -- just hoping for it all to end, but you know how these things find their way to linger on...
Jun 25, 2016 7:23 AM - NFOsec: I'm starting to think about designing and printing some modular pieces for tables, chairs, etc. as a fun little project, but then I saw some of hese cool corner brackets and things people print and just drop pieces in that look cool. you been printing anything or just focusing on the move"?
Jun 25, 2016 7:24 AM - NFOsec: bbiaf, need to eat.
Jun 25, 2016 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: I need to order a a new thermistor. I broke it moving. May need someone to print me a new gregs wade too. If I can't find the original one. Broke that to the other day. Whoops
Jun 25, 2016 8:06 AM - toymaker: i have an old gregs off my robo...
    Jun 25, 2016 8:07 AM - toymaker: did u drop your printer?
    Jun 25, 2016 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: Idk what happened to it
Jun 25, 2016 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: gooood morning
Jun 25, 2016 8:31 AM - DMSMITH: Interesting new problem, The feed motor stops during the beginning of a print.
Jun 25, 2016 8:32 AM - DMSMITH: The Skirt prints fine
    Jun 25, 2016 8:42 AM - Bill Monroe: I like skirts :)
Jun 25, 2016 8:51 AM - DMSMITH: Thanks Bill for sharing, any idea why the feed motor would stop?
Jun 25, 2016 9:08 AM - Bill Monroe: i can think of lots of things but it's impossible to tell from a distance which one it would be.. most likely a slicer/gcode problem
    Jun 25, 2016 9:09 AM - jbigler1986: It's a Robo problem
Jun 25, 2016 9:10 AM - Bill Monroe: go stand in a corner Justin :)
    Jun 25, 2016 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: Never
Jun 25, 2016 9:18 AM - Aaron C.: where can I find info on firmware.. Trying to find official posting
Jun 25, 2016 9:21 AM - DMSMITH: Is there a utility that checks gcode for errors, or should i just export again?
Jun 25, 2016 9:36 AM - Geof: Aaron c what are you looking for ?
Jun 25, 2016 9:37 AM - Geof: Dmsmith for my files i use netfab
Jun 25, 2016 9:37 AM - Geof: Free version. Export as stl send through netfab slice in simplify then i do the layer preview in simplify.
Jun 25, 2016 1:34 PM - DMSMITH: The Netfab repair seemed to address the problem. THANKS Geof
Jun 25, 2016 2:02 PM - Geof: Your welcome. Like i said i use the free version and only utilize the repair and cut model features. Hope it works out well for you!
    Jun 25, 2016 2:29 PM - jbigler1986: Netfabb is awesome
Jun 25, 2016 3:06 PM - danzca6: JB, let me know if you need that Greg's wade printed
Jun 25, 2016 3:17 PM - danzca6: All I have is PLA, but happy to help

Jun 25, 2016 3:57 PM - danzca6: OK. Let me get that loaded up tonight and hope to have it done tomorrow. PM me your address and I'll try to get it out Monday
    Jun 25, 2016 4:22 PM - jbigler1986: Thank you sir
Jun 25, 2016 4:53 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: Hey, does anyone have a good dwg, models space "template" setup for metric? I never do autocad metric, but this project is large and i need to lay it out first, and im lazy so i dont feel ike setting it up lol
Jun 25, 2016 4:54 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: netfabb is awesome, you can get the whole version from autodesk "student" since autodesk bought them. thats what i sue
Jun 25, 2016 4:57 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i mean i ca just use the iso one, screw it lol
Jun 25, 2016 5:45 PM - NFOsec: TRAVIS, only problem is if you want to do commercial stuff, you can't use student version, but definitely good idea.
    Jun 25, 2016 5:53 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: Ya...i know ;)
Jun 25, 2016 5:55 PM - TRAVIS KEMP: i use it for teaching myself model fixing for my company lol. and im in my first year of our business, so i am using what i already had, next year i will be purchasing inventor and all that, ughh i dread that so bad.
