Check your GCode terminal for an error. I suspect a thermistor error.
The hotend thermistor is loose, or has a loose wire or is defective.

Won't know for certain until you identify the error it is complaining about.
However loose thermistors, bad thermistor wiring and faulty thermistors are common.

The build plate on the R1+ is limited to 80 C. You are trying to go higher. This is turning out to be a horrible pain for me as the plate needs to be above the glass point of the material being printed for best adhesion. For ABS this is 105-110C typically. Sometimes you need a touch higher.

You can edit the firmware and set that limit to whatever works for you.
They limited it on the early R1 models because the wiring was getting burnt due to the bed heater drawing more power that the original wiring would accommodate. They later switched to using ribbon cable from the RAMPS to the bed heater so if you have that modification, raise the limit.

Ah, so the cable was the problem. I do have the new ribbon style. I'll change the firmware, but it's fundamentally irritating to have to recompile firmware to something that should have shipped in the first place.

They were being safe. The original cable was involved in at least one printer that essentially melted down :)
After that they pretty much just canned it getting above 80 to minimize the current draw on the RAMPS and the bed heater.

They pretty quickly changed the wiring, but they have never been quick to change or update the firmware. That has almost always been user driven, we will see how this goes with the C2/R2.
