I'm using a slight variation of the standard PLA print settings that Robo 3D specifies in their manual (slightly slower print speed to reduce melting on small parts) and have just noticed some separation in the last few layers. Would this be due to the slower speed, or is there something else.

I'd also like more detail or smoothness on the top layer, any advice?

Thought I'd ask here before running another print.

    Thank you.

You can try below suggestions to see if they help.

    1) You may want to increase your hotend temp so the layers bond a little better.
    2) For printing small parts/section, you should increase the minimum layer time in your slicer setting.
    3) Increase number of layers for your top and bottom layers.

Hey im going to drop in my 2 cents here. another helpful bit(along with higher temp) if you have an 3d you can swap out your nozzle for one of greater diameter. this will provide thicker lines and more overlap and hopefully less de lamination.

in general its helpful for larger parts.
