If someone told me this could happen, I would have a bit of doubt about it.
The flying X carriage really happened. The bad part was I was 6 hours into an 8 hour print.
I was eating supper with Blue and Coco, my pit bulls when they both came to full alert and ran into the gallery.
I quickly followed and saw the X carriage banging into the top cover of the R1. It really didn't register what was happening since I could see the two Z bolts and switches right where they were suppose to be. I had to fast cancel to avoid further damage.
I sat and stared at it trying to make some sense of it. What had happened was there was a loop hung up on the reel of filament which stopped it dead. The drive bolt kept turning and, in effect, lifted the whole X carriage to the top!!!!!!! Well now I know I don't have to worry about the strength of the drive bolt.
I will just have to level mechanically, and then with paper and then check Z offset.
Nothing appears to be damaged. Frank _Ospray claw 700.jpg
