When I started up repetier-host and connect the printer, the temperature readings are way off. It starts out at 250C even when it is completely cool. If I try to turn the heater on it won't do anything unless I set it above 250C. I used a thermocouple to check the temperature and it only gets to around 180C before the program says that it got too hot and shut off. Is there anyway to reset the temperature readings on the printer? Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

I tried to reload the firmware but that didn't do anything. The thermistor for the bed works just fine and it heats up. I think it may be a bad thermistor. Is there a way to check if that works correctly?

As soon as I replaced the thermistor mine worked just fine. If your temperature reads that high when you turn it on then that is probably the problem.

A high reading on the thermistor when it is off means you have short in the wiring very probably at the thermistor side
If you have zero reading you have an open connections where a where has come loose(usually thermistor, plugs or connections)
IF you can trouble shot maybe you could find the issue and resolve it sometimes its easy sometimes it is not
