To hold or not to hold.. Will hairspray work???

Does the hairspray you use to help hold your prints down list these as ingredients

  1. VA/Crotonates/Vinyl Neodecanoate Copolymer

    I think I found the reason why some hairsprays work and other do not it is whether these two chemicals show up in the ingredients list.

    VA/Crotonates/Vinyl Neodecanoate Copolymer

    Acrylates Copolymer


    I do not claim to take credit for this discovery but simply searched on the web and found this and sure enough

    Aquanet Professional Hair Spray Extra Super Hold
    does contain them both

    While searching I have to broaden the material I have now seen that have had the bed adhesion qualities improved to include, besides the standard ABS and PLA , to Nylon and Laywood as well.


    So maybe the chemist in our midst can tell us more about these or let us know other materials they can be found in that may be even more affordable or easier to apply.

    Not that hairspray is hard but it can be messy

    Anyway here is a short poll tell us all your experiences with hairspray!!!!

    been trying the damn pyramid on PLA but its just blobbing on the nozzle
    it used to stick on ABS very well

    if you raise the extruder does it extrude normally with the extrude command
