Unanswered XXL Controller, first layer issue

Hi, I have an R1 + that I installed the XXL controller on and while I love the way it works, I notice that the first layer does not seem to be filling in 100% compared to when I was running it directly from Matter Control. I am using the export function from Matter Control to produce the gcode files to print. Has anybody else had this issue, and what did you do to fix it.

The other issue I have is that when starting a print, when leveling in runs into the back limit every time. This does not affect the print quality, but it bothers me (don't want it to eventually damage something).
