upgrading step motors

    I found this nema 23 really cheap and I was thinking about upgrading R3D:

    You can see the size compare with the one on R3D. LOL.
    Now I have to find new timing pulleys since the axels is 7mm and not 5mm

    what do you guys think.??

    I guess my first question would be why? That motor looks much much larger not sure what you would gain out of it.

    I guess this would be a case where just because YOU CAN doesn't mean YOU SHOULD. haha

    I know I was just enticing to see what people would say. I got theses motors really, really cheap, but then I discover the shaft is 7mm and not 5mm. :(

    I will see if I can make a delta printer (rostock) or even a CNC router out of it.

    I would think they would be a great motor for a CNC, a Rostock while I don't have much experience with I think they would be overkill on. A good CNC though will have heavy axis to move and therefor need the additional power. Either way I'm intrigued so keep us updated PC.
