I was essentially wondering what it was and what it did because it stopped working and I wanted to know if it should be repaired immediately or if I can hold out on it

If it is mounted to the extruder it is important and should always be running*.
If it is mounted on the rails and aimed at the part you are printing it is software controlled.

*if you print without it on a small all-metal hotend like the Hexagon or E3D then heat creep will kill your print :) You will clog up and jam....

Do you know what I should search for to replace it?

    Good Luck with that.
The heaxgon parts (other than E3D compatible nozzles) are not generally available. You usually have to purchase the entire hotend.

    Under warranty contact Robo.

Out of warranty you can look for a 30mm x 30mm x 10mm 12vdc fan (I think it is 30mm -- do not have one handy to measure @Geof might know)

Actually, if you search on thingiverse, people have made 40mm fan adapter mounts and you certainly can get 40mm x 40mm x 10mm fans on Amazon

    http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1124054

That is one and since it is for 40mm -> 25mm I am guessing I was wrong and the hexagon fan is 25mm not 30mm :)

How am I going to print an adapter for it if the fan is fried? I'm honestly starting to hate this printer...

Someone would be happy to print one for you :) You just have to wait for it to arrive.
If you can print one yourself it is faster. I would say give it a try with an external fan blowing on the printer bed/hotend. It is not a long print (even shorter if you use 0.2 or 0.3 mm layer heights). Even without the fan you may get lucky and get it done since it is not a huge model.

And as mentioned in the first posts call Robo and see if they can't get you one...

It has been said many times in the forum, print spare bits while the printer is working :)
If it is on the printer and made of plastic ... print a spare.

Zip tie a fan to the extruder. Should do well enough to get you through the 30 mi ute print

    Do an atomic pull.
What is that you might ask?

    Using PLA...

Open the filament feed entirely Remove the two spring-loaded screws and drop the hinge back so you can see the hole the hobb pushes the filament into.
Heat the nozzle to 240c and push some filament in by hand as far as you can. If it starts feeding out the nozzle you are done, otherwise...
Drop the hotend temperature to about 85c and when it is stable pull the filament back out of the hole. This may take some force... This will most likely clear it. If not, do it a couple of times.

When done you should be able to reassemble and refeed filament and have it extrude.

New question. What are the little black connectors called? I lost the female end of the fan.

JST connectors. You will need to go looking on Amazon to get the exact model, but that will get you going.

I do not have one to look at, but I think they are similar to the JST SM style

While we're talking connectors, what about the ones to the stepper motors?? I've re-crimped the one on the extruder 3 X now. Ain't got much life left... :(

Upload a picture of the connector you are talking about.
The ones from the steppers are likely not JST

I'm printing right now. 6 slots, 4 wires used - 2 in the center and 2 on the outside.
