Using Matter Control, I can't get the first layer on any of my parts to print close to the print platform. The gap is about 1mm. What settings do I adjust to close this gap?

I found "Macro"s under "Settings", clicked on .9, it didn't seem to do anything. Then I and ran the print program but it still is too far from the print platform.

This is a terrible way of doing this. Stop that :D

Most would suggest that @Gomo2017 add the M565 Z-1.0; command into the start up script between the G28 and G29.

In mattercontrol somewhere there will be a start up script

    G28; home all axis
M565 Z-1.0; set the offest for autolevel
    G29; run autolevel

What you will want to do is adjust the M565 Z-1.0 ; after each print until you are happy with the first layer. (-.9 is closer than 1.0). Your number will be specific to each machine.

The reason i told him to do that was becusse it’s easier for people to understand and tweak. And why do you think that’s a terrible way of doing it. If it is in the software shouldn’t it be used

If the slicer does not use M565 it is not affecting the Z offset for the autoleveling calculations.

MatterControl is not specific or tailored to Robo printers and firmware.

If you don't use M565 you are setting a global Axis offset that is applied to the slicer calcs for all of the Z on all of the bed.
With the M565 it is applied to the autoleveling calculations of the level PLANE.

This is not the same result (math, its what a slicer does for dinner)

new versions of marlin (not what Robo provides stock) have more advanced autoleveling routines that do not use M565.

Not at all. In fact Robo is in no way related to or associated with the folks who write that software.

No its free so it comes with the R1 units. Likely due to a deal with matterhackers waaaay back when they needed to find a slicer to use with it thats easy for new comers to SLICE and PRINT the model. Nothing else.

New Robos come with Cura (R2/C2)

I wouldn't say they highly recommend it. They point it out as a free slicer for folks to start out with on the R1+, but the newer machines they have switched to suggesting Cura as @Geof points out.

IMHO the best bet for all of them is to actually buy Simplify3D :)
