    May 27, 2015 at 7:21 AM - Bill Monroe: 15 series

May 27, 2015 at 7:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: same wattage heater?
May 27, 2015 at 7:38 AM - daniel871: Think I'm going to use it to print some of the neat looking actual vase things.
May 27, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Mike Glass: haha, freakin cool TSG
May 27, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: Might be overkill to run an autotune on it to change the PID values, but wouldn't hurt
May 27, 2015 at 7:41 AM - JeffTheMess: that looks great TSG
May 27, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: impressive. What is your plan for joining the parts?
May 27, 2015 at 7:41 AM - JeffTheMess: it was done all with a robo?
May 27, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Glass: Time for some Bondic
May 27, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you could do autotune
May 27, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i think it's possible to define those with g-code though
May 27, 2015 at 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: lookin sweet tsg
May 27, 2015 at 7:45 AM - daniel871: According to this all of those bits are the same, it's just apparently machined differently for the longer nozzle. http://wiki.e3d-online.com/wiki/E3D-v6_(Volcano)_Documentation
May 27, 2015 at 7:48 AM - TechSupportGo: I have already glued 2 pieces in the center.. I used the "plastic" gorilla glue 5500 psi then ran around the edges with a soldering iron. Yes, everything was done on Robo. I changed my left threaded rod and coupler last night and it solved the ringing. You can still see tessellation but that is just a little design flaw on my part. Plan to release all the files eventually.
May 27, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: nice
May 27, 2015 at 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: I think TSG knows what he is doing :)
May 27, 2015 at 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: I would like to do a scaled down version, mini electric guitar and build my own neck.
May 27, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: uh oh jb what happened
May 27, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like the right side keeps raising up or soemthing
May 27, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: strange failure
May 27, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: oh i bet the filament got snagged and so the carriage lifted up
May 27, 2015 at 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: now it's back down
May 27, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: look at the coupler its twisted
May 27, 2015 at 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: guess its not a coupler but the carriage holder
May 27, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah the axis went way up then it dropped back down
May 27, 2015 at 8:09 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like it's still spitting filament thought
May 27, 2015 at 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: yup
May 27, 2015 at 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: that does not look like 80mm speed
May 27, 2015 at 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: probably ran out of filament. knew it would be close
May 27, 2015 at 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: i think it snagged
May 27, 2015 at 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: cause the carriage lifted way up
May 27, 2015 at 8:13 AM - Mike Kelly: then dropped back down, when i assume it broke free
May 27, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: what nozzle is on there
    May 27, 2015 at 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: .4
May 27, 2015 at 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i bet it got to the end of the spool which made it snag then broke free
    May 27, 2015 at 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: oh well
May 27, 2015 at 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: right
May 27, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mike Kelly: looks like it'll still work at least
May 27, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: damn lucky it didnt slam the bed and break it
    May 27, 2015 at 8:17 AM - jbigler1986: yep
May 27, 2015 at 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: i like to live on the edge
    May 27, 2015 at 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: i have a replacement if that were to happen
May 27, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: wish i was watching when it dropped down
May 27, 2015 at 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: can't tell if it printed the the actual holder part
May 27, 2015 at 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: now i have something to do for lunch. lol

    May 27, 2015 at 8:29 AM - daniel871: Recently?
    May 27, 2015 at 8:29 AM - jbigler1986: might be a reprint. damnit
May 27, 2015 at 8:29 AM - daniel871: Looking to see if there is a thread about it.
May 27, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: aw man

May 27, 2015 at 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: doesn't look like it printed the top of the holder part that goes on the desk. can't say forsure yet though
    May 27, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: the hook part?>
    May 27, 2015 at 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
May 27, 2015 at 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: since the top of the part was still doing infill
May 27, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: poof
May 27, 2015 at 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: i need a scale to weigh the spool when i am cutting it close
May 27, 2015 at 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: is S3D good at calculating the material
May 27, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: you just need bigger rolls
    May 27, 2015 at 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: bigger than 1KG?

May 27, 2015 at 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: guess about the same price we pay on amazon though for the 1kg
May 27, 2015 at 8:43 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. not a discount really. i would probably run into the same problems
May 27, 2015 at 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: for 3kg on amazon it would be 65.97 but 3 seperate rolls
May 27, 2015 at 8:45 AM - jbigler1986: so for .5kg more it would cost roughly $12 more. so about the same
May 27, 2015 at 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: exactomondo
May 27, 2015 at 8:56 AM - jbigler1986: did you figure out how to pause in S3D?
May 27, 2015 at 8:57 AM - daniel871: Quick thanks for pointing out JustPLA the other day, Mike. Now I just need to figure out the merits of buying an enclosure vs. just putting the original shipping box over the robo while it's printing to stop drafts from making material curl up.
May 27, 2015 at 8:58 AM - daniel871: (and trust the printer not to mess up/fault out/get a power surge)
May 27, 2015 at 8:58 AM - jbigler1986: depends how much material you print that needs an enclosure
May 27, 2015 at 8:59 AM - daniel871: Had PLA peeling off the table 30 layers into the emmet planetary gear.
May 27, 2015 at 8:59 AM - daniel871: Curling where the teeth were located.
May 27, 2015 at 8:59 AM - daniel871: Thinking there's some severe cooling draft coming from somewhere that needs blocking.
May 27, 2015 at 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: ummm. must be some other issue
May 27, 2015 at 9:00 AM - jbigler1986: you could point a regular fan at it while printa pla and it will be fine
    May 27, 2015 at 9:00 AM - jbigler1986: gotta be something else
May 27, 2015 at 9:01 AM - daniel871: Would it stick to the nozzle while changing directions?
May 27, 2015 at 9:01 AM - daniel871: Only other thing I could think of that would do it.
May 27, 2015 at 9:01 AM - daniel871: (and really don't know what can be done about that)
May 27, 2015 at 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: it shouldn't be. when you extrude it by hand does it curl up around the nozzle or extrude straight down
May 27, 2015 at 9:03 AM - daniel871: It tries to curl around the nozzle for a bit before dropping down.
May 27, 2015 at 9:03 AM - daniel871: This is a brand new nozzle I got from Printed Solid after the Laywood debacle, too.
    May 27, 2015 at 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: hex or e3d?
    May 27, 2015 at 9:04 AM - daniel871: E3D v6
May 27, 2015 at 9:04 AM - daniel871: Everything I've printed in my printer thread has been with the E3D.
May 27, 2015 at 9:05 AM - jbigler1986: take it apart and run a drill through the heat break
May 27, 2015 at 9:07 AM - daniel871: Did that once already to clean out the laywood that cooked in it because the PTFE tube wasn't quite seated right the first time.
May 27, 2015 at 9:08 AM - daniel871: I'll do it again this evening and try again though.
May 27, 2015 at 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: I had to do that sometimes when i had my sprint tension screws way to tight. since i figured that out a few weeks ago i have yet to have another issue (besides running out of filament which just happened)
May 27, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: curling up generally means that it is being printed too hot, no?
    May 27, 2015 at 9:28 AM - jbigler1986: also could be a slight clog
May 27, 2015 at 9:33 AM - Mike Glass: to hot or not enough cooling:)
May 27, 2015 at 9:35 AM - jbigler1986: very odd to have it during the print
May 27, 2015 at 9:45 AM - daniel871: Yeah, the curling is happening while the extruder is on the opposite end of the print from where the cooling is happening.
May 27, 2015 at 9:46 AM - daniel871: curling, not cooling, though I suppose both are happening at the same time.
May 27, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: lack of cooling then
    May 27, 2015 at 9:47 AM - daniel871: Hm.
May 27, 2015 at 9:48 AM - daniel871: So it needs more cooling from somewhere?
May 27, 2015 at 9:48 AM - Mike Glass: yup, do you have dual fans, if not you should
May 27, 2015 at 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why the dual fan upgrade is so popular
May 27, 2015 at 9:48 AM - daniel871: Nope, just the standard parts fan.
    May 27, 2015 at 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lrfy5uv1352dclg/v6 Fan Dual.STL?dl=0 print this
May 27, 2015 at 9:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: and call me in the morning
May 27, 2015 at 9:50 AM - daniel871: Put that on the existing parts fan?
May 27, 2015 at 9:51 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it replaces the existing part fan mount and the heatsink fan mount
May 27, 2015 at 9:51 AM - Mike Kelly: gives you a second spot for mounting to
May 27, 2015 at 9:52 AM - daniel871: Looks like a channel for the air to blow through. [IMG]
    May 27, 2015 at 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: don't use those with it
May 27, 2015 at 9:53 AM - daniel871: That was the STL I got from the dropbox link.
    May 27, 2015 at 9:54 AM - jbigler1986: MK is drunk
May 27, 2015 at 9:55 AM - daniel871: I think I already have the parts fan mount file from when I installed the E3D to start with. Will just print another and mount it on the other side and try to figure out how to wire up another fan.
May 27, 2015 at 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: oh woops
    May 27, 2015 at 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: take 2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lrfy5uv1352dclg/v6 Fan Dual.STL?dl=0
May 27, 2015 at 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: whatever works
    May 27, 2015 at 9:58 AM - daniel871: Ooh, I like that one better.
    May 27, 2015 at 9:59 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    May 27, 2015 at 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: that's what i use
May 27, 2015 at 10:01 AM - Mike Glass: me three
May 27, 2015 at 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: sorta mike, you use the hexagon version
May 27, 2015 at 10:04 AM - daniel871: Probably going to use the last of my PET+ to make that since it has been printing fairly well whenever I use it.
May 27, 2015 at 10:05 AM - Mike Glass: abs would be the best
May 27, 2015 at 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: pet is ok, not as good as abs though
May 27, 2015 at 10:06 AM - Mike Glass: I have 5 pets that is not good.
    May 27, 2015 at 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: got a 70C glass transition
    May 27, 2015 at 10:07 AM - jbigler1986: PLfnA
    May 27, 2015 at 10:09 AM - daniel871: Hm.
May 27, 2015 at 10:10 AM - daniel871: Reminds me that I need to get some ABS and Kapton tape to try printing that with at some point.
    May 27, 2015 at 10:11 AM - jbigler1986: i hate abs
May 27, 2015 at 10:11 AM - daniel871: After doing the dual fan mount, then getting PLA and the other materials I have down.
May 27, 2015 at 10:55 AM - daniel871: I kind of wish the Manufacturing department would hire someone that could program their CNC. I'm getting tired of doing it and then having to prove every time somebody forgets to touch off a tool, or doesn't read the operation sheet, that the machine can't compensate for human error.
May 27, 2015 at 10:56 AM - daniel871: Just had someone try to act like the programming was wrong for something that's been programmed and proven since 2013.

May 27, 2015 at 11:13 AM - JeffTheMess: way too small
May 27, 2015 at 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: agreed, fun concept at least
May 27, 2015 at 11:16 AM - Mike Glass: ok we have the technology, but a real effin screen on it, cheap bastards

May 27, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: but tactile buttons! and game programming!
    May 27, 2015 at 11:21 AM - JeffTheMess: (i think someone wants one) :)
May 27, 2015 at 11:21 AM - daniel871: What's the price point to make somebody give up their TI-86 and the games here: http://www.ticalc.org/pub/86/basic/games/
May 27, 2015 at 11:21 AM - Mike Glass: with them being that close together, yea thats awesome
May 27, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i figure it's a way of teaching kids how to make their own games as opposed to something actually full featured
May 27, 2015 at 11:24 AM - JeffTheMess: that would be interesting for kids to learn
May 27, 2015 at 11:24 AM - JeffTheMess: they hands are small enough

May 27, 2015 at 12:16 PM - insomniac_lemon: It stops being smooth, and runs on and off
May 27, 2015 at 12:16 PM - insomniac_lemon: and then sounds like an air compressor when it idles
May 27, 2015 at 12:17 PM - insomniac_lemon: That's just from repetier, but motor 1 (2nd motor from SeemeCNC and stock robo pololu board) doesn't do that
    May 27, 2015 at 12:17 PM - insomniac_lemon: Is this a common issue?
May 27, 2015 at 12:19 PM - insomniac_lemon: Do I need to tune the pot?

May 27, 2015 at 12:33 PM - Stephen Capistron: plastites eliminate the need for a threaded insert when bolting up two pieces of plastic

May 27, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Mike Glass: What voltage should the 4988 drivers on the robo be at?
May 27, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Stephen Capistron: i think when I tuned mine they were around .6 to .8, but that is off memory
    May 27, 2015 at 12:37 PM - jbigler1986: keg time

May 27, 2015 at 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: I think Mike just told you
May 27, 2015 at 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: you have to move it on the board
    May 27, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd rewire it
May 27, 2015 at 1:36 PM - toy: are the bottom 2 pins the no and the top 2 pins nc?
May 27, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Mike Kelly: no
May 27, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Mike Kelly: you should use NC because it provides added failure protection
May 27, 2015 at 1:37 PM - Mike Kelly: NC*
May 27, 2015 at 1:37 PM - Mike Glass: lol
    May 27, 2015 at 1:37 PM - Mike Glass: I saw that
May 27, 2015 at 1:37 PM - Mike Glass: so if a wire fails you wont end up killing something
May 27, 2015 at 1:37 PM - Mike Kelly: right
May 27, 2015 at 1:38 PM - toy: so i should just wire them all nc.... i was kinda under the impression u select the nc/no by which 2 of the 3 pins yoou use ont he limit switch
May 27, 2015 at 1:38 PM - Mike Kelly: the two outside pins will be NC
May 27, 2015 at 1:38 PM - Mike Kelly: the inside pin is NO
May 27, 2015 at 1:39 PM - toy: roger that... now on the board... the 3 rows of pins...
    May 27, 2015 at 1:39 PM - Mike Kelly: S G and VCC
May 27, 2015 at 1:39 PM - Mike Kelly: VCC is 5V for things like opto sensors

May 27, 2015 at 1:50 PM - toy: so i should make them ALL nc... sry i just want to make sure
May 27, 2015 at 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: all NC is best IMO
May 27, 2015 at 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: looking for an open circuit is intrinsically safer than a closed
May 27, 2015 at 1:52 PM - toy: i designed it so the nozzle can never crash into bed.... i screwed the acme brass couplings into the gantry blocks so their is zero backlash
May 27, 2015 at 1:52 PM - toy: it will bottom out at the correct height...or at least that is the plan
May 27, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Mike Glass: let jb have a go at it, he will fine a way.
    May 27, 2015 at 1:53 PM - jbigler1986: find a way to crash it?
May 27, 2015 at 1:53 PM - Mike Glass: lol
May 27, 2015 at 1:54 PM - jbigler1986: i have yet to crash into the bed
May 27, 2015 at 1:55 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
May 27, 2015 at 1:55 PM - jbigler1986: anyone know how accurate s3d filament used is?
May 27, 2015 at 1:57 PM - Mike Kelly: hwat the hell did that mike
May 27, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: i've crashed into my bed
May 27, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: it's scary, the helicals expand but luckily it torque stalls before cracking
May 27, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: i think my printinz protected it some by distributing the nozzle pressure
    May 27, 2015 at 1:58 PM - Mike Glass: a dws
May 27, 2015 at 2:01 PM - toy: i got my y-axis shafts to .001" parallelism but now im afraid to even touch it lol,
May 27, 2015 at 2:01 PM - toy: how am i gonna remove parts... just a slight bump wll throw them out haha
May 27, 2015 at 2:02 PM - toy: next printer WILL NOT have any shafting
May 27, 2015 at 2:02 PM - Mike Glass: rubber bands?
    May 27, 2015 at 2:03 PM - toy: actuators
May 27, 2015 at 2:03 PM - Mike Glass: arent they slow
    May 27, 2015 at 2:04 PM - toy: if u use ballscrews....
May 27, 2015 at 2:04 PM - toy: u can use a lower torque faster stepper
May 27, 2015 at 2:05 PM - toy: i made a little stepper test platform with a spare arduino and driver to compare all the different little stepper i have
May 27, 2015 at 2:06 PM - toy: and i wrote my own code lol
May 27, 2015 at 2:59 PM - TechSupportGo: MG did you see what I have so far on the guitar?
    May 27, 2015 at 3:42 PM - jbigler1986: Can I add movement command with M0 pause code
May 27, 2015 at 3:47 PM - jbigler1986: About to be test time
May 27, 2015 at 4:12 PM - jbigler1986: Watch my stream to see if it works. It's gonna happen in about 10 minutes
May 27, 2015 at 4:15 PM - toy: whats the test?
    May 27, 2015 at 4:20 PM - jbigler1986: Pause gcode and raise z in simplify3d
May 27, 2015 at 4:31 PM - jbigler1986: That worked. Gonna see if it will retract this time
May 27, 2015 at 4:33 PM - jbigler1986: Move z, retract and move x is the test now
May 27, 2015 at 4:33 PM - toy: i think im gonna start using cura for the gcode and repetier for the controller
    May 27, 2015 at 4:35 PM - jbigler1986: Cura is good
    May 27, 2015 at 4:35 PM - jbigler1986: No lcd
May 27, 2015 at 4:36 PM - Mike Kelly: Repetier has cura engine
May 27, 2015 at 4:37 PM - Mike Kelly: Jb lemme know the code you're using
May 27, 2015 at 4:38 PM - toy: hows the bondtechs working mk?
    May 27, 2015 at 4:46 PM - jbigler1986: X movement didn't work. Z and retract did though
    May 27, 2015 at 4:57 PM - TechSupportGo: Yo
    May 27, 2015 at 5:08 PM - jbigler1986: Hello
May 27, 2015 at 5:17 PM - Bill Monroe: jb
May 27, 2015 at 5:24 PM - toy: DO NOT step on a hot soldering iron with your foot
May 27, 2015 at 5:25 PM - Mike Kelly: How would that even happen
    May 27, 2015 at 5:25 PM - toy: well
May 27, 2015 at 5:25 PM - Mike Kelly: Reminds me when Michael Scott burns his foot with a pancake maker
May 27, 2015 at 5:26 PM - Mike Kelly: The bond techs are working well
May 27, 2015 at 5:26 PM - toy: a few factors involved here....
May 27, 2015 at 5:26 PM - Mike Kelly: Also what else would you step on something with
May 27, 2015 at 5:27 PM - toy: barefoot, nice day (no shoes) , limited outlets withen reach of the limit switch, no place to put soldering iron but on floor, have big feet
May 27, 2015 at 5:28 PM - Mike Kelly: Lmao. What did you learn...
May 27, 2015 at 5:28 PM - toy: i have tough feet and i should look before just prancing around
May 27, 2015 at 5:29 PM - toy: funny thing is i say smoke before i realized i should move my foor
    May 27, 2015 at 5:30 PM - toy: foot
May 27, 2015 at 5:30 PM - toy: saw smoke...
May 27, 2015 at 5:30 PM - toy: and heard sizzling
May 27, 2015 at 5:30 PM - Shank: where is the step per mm located in the firmware?
    May 27, 2015 at 5:31 PM - toy: http://imgur.com/dtsL26b <---my burnt foot
    May 27, 2015 at 5:32 PM - toy: configuration.h shank
May 27, 2015 at 5:33 PM - Shank: in the Mechanical Settings section?
May 27, 2015 at 5:33 PM - toy: line 445 to be excat
    May 27, 2015 at 5:33 PM - Shank: thanks
May 27, 2015 at 5:35 PM - Shank: no more couplers now just onto firmware changes
May 27, 2015 at 5:35 PM - Bill Monroe: I stepped on a cigarette butt when I was kid, that my dad had just dropped on the garage floor - I did the worlds greatest River Dance after that
May 27, 2015 at 5:35 PM - Bill Monroe: and on that moment, my Dad quit smoking
May 27, 2015 at 5:35 PM - toy: i saw smoke and heard sizzling before any pain registered
May 27, 2015 at 5:36 PM - toy: im not sure if that is good or bad
May 27, 2015 at 5:36 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, I remember feeling it my nose first, of all things
May 27, 2015 at 5:37 PM - Bill Monroe: which is why I'm not totally skeptical about accupressure
May 27, 2015 at 5:37 PM - jbigler1986: Shank you got the new steppers?
May 27, 2015 at 5:38 PM - Shank: yep they are in now...the adapter i printed didnt fit so i had to modify the m8 nuts with hope that works
    May 27, 2015 at 5:39 PM - jbigler1986: Which adapter?
May 27, 2015 at 5:40 PM - Shank: the ones you have, should of tried them before i removed the old lead screws
May 27, 2015 at 5:48 PM - daniel871: Ok, think I solved the cooling issue. S3D was sending fan speeds really slow at 60rpm (turned up on the lcdto 255 and the pla test print is staying flat now.
May 27, 2015 at 5:49 PM - jbigler1986: What exactly is the issue Shank
    May 27, 2015 at 5:50 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG] here MK
May 27, 2015 at 5:51 PM - Shank: at the moment just firmware, it looks like the last minute adapter will work till i print off new parts that will fit
    May 27, 2015 at 5:51 PM - jbigler1986: Why wouldn't they fit
May 27, 2015 at 5:53 PM - Shank: it was like the scale was wrong on the part when i ran it though slicer, walls needed heavy sanding and the center hole was way to small
May 27, 2015 at 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: Did you print the right one? One needed sanding and the other didn't

May 27, 2015 at 5:56 PM - Shank: what number do i need to change in the firmware?
May 27, 2015 at 5:57 PM - jbigler1986: Are you at the steps line
May 27, 2015 at 5:58 PM - Shank: line 445 at the moment
    May 27, 2015 at 5:59 PM - jbigler1986: Do you see 4 different numbers I parenthesis
    May 27, 2015 at 6:00 PM - Shank: axis_steps_per_unit (80,80,2560,723.38)
    May 27, 2015 at 6:02 PM - jbigler1986: Change 2560 to 400
    May 27, 2015 at 6:02 PM - Shank: alright
May 27, 2015 at 6:09 PM - Shank: it looks like it is moving correctly, i am going to run a 1inch cube to check
May 27, 2015 at 6:11 PM - jbigler1986: Also enable motor always on or something like that. Don't recall the exact wording
    May 27, 2015 at 6:15 PM - Shank: still in config h?
    May 27, 2015 at 6:16 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
May 27, 2015 at 6:18 PM - Shank: i cant find anything that is close to motor always on
May 27, 2015 at 6:19 PM - jbigler1986: It's something that is true to enable it or false to disable it
May 27, 2015 at 6:20 PM - jbigler1986: Search for false and see if you can find it
May 27, 2015 at 6:21 PM - Shank: // Disables axis when it's not being used.
May 27, 2015 at 6:21 PM - Mike Glass: what are you doing now JB?
    May 27, 2015 at 6:21 PM - Shank: #define Diable_Z true
May 27, 2015 at 6:24 PM - jbigler1986: There. Change it to false
    May 27, 2015 at 6:25 PM - Shank: done
    May 27, 2015 at 6:25 PM - jbigler1986: Also slow down the z movement
May 27, 2015 at 6:26 PM - jbigler1986: Default is like 4000 or something like that
May 27, 2015 at 6:26 PM - Shank: but i like the speed
May 27, 2015 at 6:27 PM - jbigler1986: Let me check my firmware in a minute
    May 27, 2015 at 6:27 PM - Shank: alright
    May 27, 2015 at 6:28 PM - jbigler1986: It's for the autolevel. Z speed doesn't move fast while printing
    May 27, 2015 at 6:29 PM - Shank: i see the xy_travel
    May 27, 2015 at 6:29 PM - Shank: speed at 8000
    May 27, 2015 at 6:29 PM - jbigler1986: Do you see z?
    May 27, 2015 at 6:29 PM - Shank: no z speed
    May 27, 2015 at 6:30 PM - jbigler1986: I will check
May 27, 2015 at 6:31 PM - Shank: alright thanks...im running a cube at the moment and it looks fine besides the x carriage is a little off level
May 27, 2015 at 6:33 PM - Mike Glass: I dont see it either. is it part of the homing speed config
May 27, 2015 at 6:33 PM - Mike Glass: or the default retractions speed it is at 3000
    May 27, 2015 at 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: Max acceleration
    May 27, 2015 at 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: Change z which is the 3rd one to 1500
May 27, 2015 at 6:34 PM - Mike Glass: z is 100 by default though
May 27, 2015 at 6:36 PM - jbigler1986: It slows it down. Test it. You will see a difference
May 27, 2015 at 6:36 PM - insomniac_lemon: Why does it seem like there was a loud power supply fan that used to be on that no longer runs?
May 27, 2015 at 6:36 PM - Mike Glass: you want it faster or slower?
    May 27, 2015 at 6:37 PM - jbigler1986: Shouldn't be 100
May 27, 2015 at 6:37 PM - Mike Glass: thats stock code
    May 27, 2015 at 6:37 PM - jbigler1986: My max acceleration are 1500, 1500, 1500, 5000
May 27, 2015 at 6:38 PM - Mike Glass: hmm strange
    May 27, 2015 at 6:38 PM - Mike Glass: these are 9000,9000,100,10000
    May 27, 2015 at 6:38 PM - jbigler1986: #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {1500,1500,1500,5000} // X, Y, Z, E maximum start speed for accelerated moves. E default values are good for Skeinforge 40+, for older versions raise them a lot.
May 27, 2015 at 6:39 PM - insomniac_lemon: I'm not sure if I unplugged something (pretty sure I didn't) or if Mike K's Cyclops firmware has some fans shut off by default
May 27, 2015 at 6:39 PM - Mike Glass: I would not control the ps fan though
May 27, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Mike Glass: what firmware is that JB?
May 27, 2015 at 6:40 PM - Shank: looks like my printer is up and running again thanks for the help
    May 27, 2015 at 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: 8mm autolevel
May 27, 2015 at 6:41 PM - insomniac_lemon: Mike G. but it's off now (or at least quiet) now, I seem to remember it being loud, unless my ears were playing tricks on me. The small corner case fan seems to be off, unless I plugged that into the wrong place
May 27, 2015 at 6:42 PM - Mike Glass: the Ramps Fan or PS fan?
May 27, 2015 at 6:42 PM - insomniac_lemon: Ramps fan. That wasn't one of those that can be plugged in backwards was it?
May 27, 2015 at 6:42 PM - insomniac_lemon: oh wait, maybe I plugged it into the wrong pin of the 3 DX
May 27, 2015 at 6:43 PM - Mike Glass: yea but you might of missed the right connector
May 27, 2015 at 6:43 PM - Mike Glass: its right in front of the polyfuses
May 27, 2015 at 6:45 PM - insomniac_lemon: I plugged it into the 3-pin slot to the left of the polyfuses, the top 2 pins, but I forgot that the RAMPS board is upside-down
May 27, 2015 at 6:47 PM - jbigler1986: MG 100 steps would move like molasses
May 27, 2015 at 6:47 PM - Mike Glass: its the stock setting as far as I can tell
May 27, 2015 at 6:48 PM - insomniac_lemon: Nope, is that not the right spot?
    May 27, 2015 at 6:49 PM - jbigler1986: I thought it was a 2 pin spot
May 27, 2015 at 6:49 PM - Mike Glass: yea its 2 pin
May 27, 2015 at 6:49 PM - Mike Glass: your on the servo power connector
May 27, 2015 at 6:49 PM - insomniac_lemon: I don't think I saw a 2-pin spot but I thought it was one of those with 3-pins where you ignore one
May 27, 2015 at 6:50 PM - insomniac_lemon: Is it to the left of the one I used, Mike G.?
May 27, 2015 at 6:50 PM - insomniac_lemon: As in, the large row of 3-pin connectors??
May 27, 2015 at 6:50 PM - Mike Glass: yes and up
May 27, 2015 at 6:52 PM - Mike Glass: err just up looking at the picture
    May 27, 2015 at 6:52 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
May 27, 2015 at 6:52 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
May 27, 2015 at 6:53 PM - Mike Glass: its not really extruder fan but thats the spot
May 27, 2015 at 6:54 PM - jbigler1986: So I didn't run out of filament earlier. It was fucking tangled on the spool. Thanks sainsmart
May 27, 2015 at 6:54 PM - Mike Glass: ugg how frustrating
May 27, 2015 at 6:55 PM - jbigler1986: Wasn't my fault this time. Gonna butch at them tomorrow and see what they say
May 27, 2015 at 6:55 PM - insomniac_lemon: Ok thanks guys, I didn't see it under the polyfuses
    May 27, 2015 at 6:55 PM - jbigler1986: Errr. Bitch
May 27, 2015 at 6:57 PM - insomniac_lemon: Does it matter what orientation that fan is at, as in will it switch the air flow, and would that matter?
    May 27, 2015 at 6:57 PM - daniel871: blt with cheese?
May 27, 2015 at 6:57 PM - jbigler1986: One direction is push and the other is pull
May 27, 2015 at 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: You either want to push cool air onto the board or pull the hot air away
May 27, 2015 at 6:58 PM - insomniac_lemon: jbigler: Yeah, I figured, but does that really matter? Currently I think it's pulling air INTO the case
May 27, 2015 at 6:59 PM - jbigler1986: I would push cool air onto it
May 27, 2015 at 6:59 PM - Mike Glass: think it works better to blow on them
May 27, 2015 at 6:59 PM - daniel871: Having a section of ptfe tubing between the gregs wade and wrapped once around the spool has seemed to keep tangles from hurting the feed.
May 27, 2015 at 6:59 PM - insomniac_lemon: I figure lower air would be cooler and pushing air out may draw air in from the build chamber that may be hotter
May 27, 2015 at 7:00 PM - daniel871: also that doggy lithophane turned out pretty neat.
May 27, 2015 at 7:00 PM - jbigler1986: Since it's not directly onto the board pulling the air away wouldn't have as much effect
    May 27, 2015 at 7:00 PM - insomniac_lemon: So yeah, I guess I have it right, then
    May 27, 2015 at 7:01 PM - jbigler1986: Daniel you got a pic?
May 27, 2015 at 7:05 PM - insomniac_lemon: How do I control the parts fans with repetier? Un-disabling them with the GUI doesn't work. Not sure if I wired them right (both set fan wires to the same terminal, excluding the "extra" wire the one I bought came with) but I also haven't tried an actual test print yet
May 27, 2015 at 7:06 PM - insomniac_lemon: I tried some manual GCODE but it seems different boards do it differently
May 27, 2015 at 7:09 PM - daniel871: No, already gave it to my mom.
May 27, 2015 at 7:09 PM - daniel871: Printing it again so I can do that for the thread though.
May 27, 2015 at 7:12 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah turning them on in repetier should do the trick
May 27, 2015 at 7:13 PM - jbigler1986: Damn it. I want to run this part for another hour before switching filament. Don't think I will last though. Blah
    May 27, 2015 at 7:14 PM - insomniac_lemon: It doesn't though.... doesn't do anything
May 27, 2015 at 7:14 PM - insomniac_lemon: The extruder heater works though
May 27, 2015 at 7:18 PM - insomniac_lemon: But like I said, one of the fans I got had an extra wire that I'm not sure what it did. A yellow wire
May 27, 2015 at 7:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: The reprap gcode page is super helpful.
    May 27, 2015 at 7:20 PM - insomniac_lemon: Unless you can't run 2 parts fans like that?

May 27, 2015 at 7:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: It lists every command and tells you which firmware it works with and sometimes how to structure the command
May 27, 2015 at 7:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: I want to say M107 turns the fan on, but I'm going from memory
May 27, 2015 at 7:25 PM - insomniac_lemon: Stephen, yeah, I did try M106 in the past (and now) but it doesn't work
May 27, 2015 at 7:25 PM - Stephen Capistron: So close
May 27, 2015 at 7:26 PM - Stephen Capistron: M107 must be off then.
May 27, 2015 at 7:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: Does that switch through a FET on the board?
    May 27, 2015 at 7:27 PM - insomniac_lemon: -\_0_0_/-
May 27, 2015 at 7:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: Could be stuck closed if so? Do FETs even fail closed? Is there an EE in the house?
    May 27, 2015 at 7:28 PM - insomniac_lemon: I am not a doctor, no.
May 27, 2015 at 7:29 PM - insomniac_lemon: For context though, I'm did an upgrade from the stock Hex to a Cyclops, including adding a new parts fan. It's possible I did something wrong.
May 27, 2015 at 7:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: I'm too lazy to go up and look, is it wired right?
May 27, 2015 at 7:29 PM - insomniac_lemon: It *should* be, unless you wire 2 fans differently than 1.....
May 27, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Stephen Capistron: Chase all the wires back and make sure nothing is shorting up against the fan wires
May 27, 2015 at 7:30 PM - insomniac_lemon: I believe that both fans are wired as 1 fan would be if you know what I mean
May 27, 2015 at 7:31 PM - insomniac_lemon: As in, both positives in one terminal, both negatives on another. I watched the video on the polarities so that should be right
May 27, 2015 at 7:31 PM - insomniac_lemon: Unless the yellow wire on the fan I bought was swapped with the black/red for some reason.
May 27, 2015 at 7:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: Yeah, all he reds together and all the blacks in parallel . Can also unplug the fans and send M107 and see if it is still outputting voltage. Then you know it is a board issue
May 27, 2015 at 7:32 PM - insomniac_lemon: I don't see how it would be a board issue, it was working fine before I added the other fan
May 27, 2015 at 7:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: Then your wiring job must be no bueno
May 27, 2015 at 7:49 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. You can splice 2 fans into 1 without issues. Hell you could probably do 4 into 1 if you wanted to. I wouldn't though
    May 27, 2015 at 7:50 PM - insomniac_lemon: I don't think I'm getting voltage to those terminals :(
May 27, 2015 at 7:50 PM - insomniac_lemon: Unless Repetier is failing to turn that on
May 27, 2015 at 7:53 PM - jbigler1986: I'm calling it night. See you guys tomorrow. SC I will see you bright and early like usual
    May 27, 2015 at 7:53 PM - jbigler1986: Need a good news article tomorrow
May 27, 2015 at 7:54 PM - insomniac_lemon: Try this: "Man teaches dog this ONE COOL TRICK! Mailmen HATE him!"

May 27, 2015 at 8:14 PM - Mike Glass: is that vase mode?
    May 27, 2015 at 8:18 PM - Droid: yeah
    May 27, 2015 at 8:19 PM - Droid: used a .6 nozzle at 25mm/sec at 225*c
May 27, 2015 at 8:21 PM - Droid: I know others print it hotter, but I heated up the hotend and just hand fed it a little while changing temps and 225 "felt" the best on my printer

    May 28, 2015 2:54 AM - daniel871: in th my printer subforum.
    May 28, 2015 2:54 AM - daniel871: (phone posting while carpooling)
    May 28, 2015 3:10 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
    May 28, 2015 3:21 AM - daniel871: mourning.
May 28, 2015 3:23 AM - jbigler1986: What material was that printed with?
    May 28, 2015 3:23 AM - daniel871: laywood
May 28, 2015 3:24 AM - daniel871: I printed the first one in cinnamon pla from justpla, but didnt get a pic first before giving it to my mom. It looked even better up to the light.
May 28, 2015 3:26 AM - daniel871: I'm trying to wrap my head around how the shadows printed inside the stl.
May 28, 2015 3:28 AM - daniel871: definitely going to print the "I dont give a shit!" cookie lithograph after work.
    May 28, 2015 3:28 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    May 28, 2015 3:29 AM - daniel871: Morning Bill.
    May 28, 2015 3:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: morning <-working from home today :D
    May 28, 2015 3:47 AM - daniel871: I'm still in traffic.
May 28, 2015 3:48 AM - daniel871: Getting close though, can tell my the sewage smell of the water treatment plant.
    May 28, 2015 3:48 AM - daniel871: by
May 28, 2015 4:02 AM - Bill Monroe: after I endure the annual "self evaluation" for the next week or so, I get to work at home for a few weeks :)
    May 28, 2015 4:06 AM - jbigler1986: Nice. I'm just doing a few hours today myself
May 28, 2015 4:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: Q: "How do you think you performed over the last 6 months?" A: I could have done a lot better if I wasn't surrounded by idiots.
    May 28, 2015 4:07 AM - jbigler1986: http://m.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
May 28, 2015 4:07 AM - Bill Monroe: ahahah Stephen, I cant tell you how many times I typed that, then deleted it :)
May 28, 2015 4:08 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm well know for quoting Yosemite Sam... "Incompetence, surrounded by incompetence!"
May 28, 2015 4:09 AM - Bill Monroe: only a human has the ability to not realize that they dont know something...
May 28, 2015 4:10 AM - Bill Monroe: It's kind of sad when the best engineers I work with are from India, Laos, and China.
May 28, 2015 4:13 AM - jbigler1986: Well just because people have a piece of paper saying they know how to do something. That doesn't mean they actually know how.
May 28, 2015 4:14 AM - jbigler1986: Kinda the way Google is starting to do things now. If the people show they know how to do a job they don't need a degree. Which makes complete sense
May 28, 2015 4:14 AM - Bill Monroe: Most everyone has the education, but so many have out-of-control egos, are unwilling to work as a team.
May 28, 2015 4:15 AM - Bill Monroe: well, you cant "show them" how to validate their design mathematically before they cut metal or put power to their circuits
May 28, 2015 4:16 AM - jbigler1986: Hey this guy has been welding for 10 years and is amazing at it. Let's hire the guy that has a welding certificate saying he knows how to even though his work is horrible
May 28, 2015 4:17 AM - Bill Monroe: Google is an example how companies have abandoned seraching for proven copetent talent, and now embrace the "collaborative managed project" mentality of doing tech design
May 28, 2015 4:17 AM - Bill Monroe: which used to be called "designed by committee"
May 28, 2015 4:17 AM - Bill Monroe: so now changing the water bottle takes month of meeting and agreement
May 28, 2015 4:20 AM - jbigler1986: I was just referring to their hiring process.
May 28, 2015 4:23 AM - Bill Monroe: we' actually do that OK.. usually hiring interns that have proven themselves, or putting people on a 6 month contract so the losers can just be allowed to expire
May 28, 2015 4:28 AM - Bill Monroe: we hired a machinist 2 months ago on a 6 month contract, already started the ball rolling on keeping him
May 28, 2015 4:29 AM - Bill Monroe: got a laotian kid as an intern.. I claimed him a week after he started :)
May 28, 2015 4:33 AM - jbigler1986: That's good. It's just lots of places requiring a degree is dumb. Lots of self taught people these days. Especially in the IT field
May 28, 2015 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: IT doesnt require a lot of education..
May 28, 2015 4:37 AM - Bill Monroe: I mean, when jr high nerds and indian call centers can handle it...
May 28, 2015 4:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: I've been seeing more and more engineering jobs that are asking for an MS. Do you want paralysis by analysis or do you actually want to move your project forward?
May 28, 2015 4:42 AM - Bill Monroe: I think that's to weed-out young 20 somethings that just got the paper and think they're now all-knowing
May 28, 2015 4:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: but that is when you just ask for 5-10 years experience or what ever
May 28, 2015 4:44 AM - Bill Monroe: anymore, employment law practitioners call that discrimation.
    May 28, 2015 4:44 AM - Bill Monroe: discrimination?
    May 28, 2015 4:44 AM - Bill Monroe: whatever
May 28, 2015 4:46 AM - Bill Monroe: I shoudnt talk thought, those same lawyers will jump to my aid if the company tries to let me go for anything short of murdering my boss
May 28, 2015 4:48 AM - jbigler1986: i know a bunch of people that graduated from Purdue with engineering degrees (which Purdue is a great engineering school) that I would not hire because they are morons
May 28, 2015 4:49 AM - Bill Monroe: heh my company doesnt even know my educational background.. I got hired solely on accomplishments
    May 28, 2015 4:51 AM - jbigler1986: that's how it should be
May 28, 2015 4:52 AM - jbigler1986: god damnit. this muffin is dry as hell
May 28, 2015 4:53 AM - Bill Monroe: the directors admin attended one of the universites I also attended, found one of my papers and mentioned it in a meeting... she thought is was a fun coincidence that someone with my name was published
May 28, 2015 4:54 AM - Bill Monroe: I asked her "was it the one about human impedence?"
May 28, 2015 4:54 AM - Bill Monroe: the room got quiet :)
    May 28, 2015 4:55 AM - BryZad: morning
    May 28, 2015 4:55 AM - Bill Monroe: BZ
    May 28, 2015 4:57 AM - BryZad: what up
May 28, 2015 4:58 AM - Bill Monroe: price of gas
May 28, 2015 4:58 AM - BryZad: that is true
    May 28, 2015 4:58 AM - Bill Monroe: sadly
    May 28, 2015 4:59 AM - BryZad: 2.70
    May 28, 2015 4:59 AM - Bill Monroe: where?
    May 28, 2015 4:59 AM - Bill Monroe: $3.90 here
    May 28, 2015 4:59 AM - BryZad: gallon of liter ?
    May 28, 2015 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe: gallon
    May 28, 2015 5:00 AM - BryZad: Az
    May 28, 2015 5:01 AM - jbigler1986: ouch. $2.56 here
May 28, 2015 5:01 AM - Bill Monroe: its fifty cents cheaper at my other home
May 28, 2015 5:02 AM - BryZad: where is that
May 28, 2015 5:02 AM - Bill Monroe: Joshua Tree
    May 28, 2015 5:03 AM - BryZad: Ca
    May 28, 2015 5:03 AM - Bill Monroe: yup
May 28, 2015 5:05 AM - Stephen Capistron: california, land of higher gas tax and their own special blends
May 28, 2015 5:05 AM - BryZad: has anyone had changes in print quality and adhesion with just different colors ?
    May 28, 2015 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
    May 28, 2015 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: yep
May 28, 2015 5:05 AM - Stephen Capistron: different colors will print best at slightly different temps
May 28, 2015 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: not adhesion so much, but come colors require a little tweaking
May 28, 2015 5:06 AM - jbigler1986: Hatchbox yellow looks like crap compared to the other colors of hatchbox i have used
May 28, 2015 5:06 AM - BryZad: this stinking gray it giving me troubles
May 28, 2015 5:06 AM - Bill Monroe: i've seen differences in whites and grays
May 28, 2015 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: blacks, blues, oranges, and naturals all seem to run smoothly
May 28, 2015 5:07 AM - BryZad: yea I can see different shades of whites
May 28, 2015 5:08 AM - BryZad: yea had a green that took some tweaking
May 28, 2015 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: although after all the mods, the formerly horrible Makerbot gray printed wonderfully
May 28, 2015 5:09 AM - Bill Monroe: only tried green in XT, no issues
    May 28, 2015 5:10 AM - BryZad: just a Fry's green pla for me
May 28, 2015 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: which brand?
May 28, 2015 5:11 AM - BryZad: black and ble box can't pull the name at the moment
May 28, 2015 5:11 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe Shaxon
    May 28, 2015 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: shaxon i have had 0 issues with
May 28, 2015 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: sme here
May 28, 2015 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: same here
May 28, 2015 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: but I've only tried the blue
May 28, 2015 5:13 AM - BryZad: same here the blue I have used
May 28, 2015 5:13 AM - jbigler1986: i have used, red, blue, black, natural, green, orange, yellow (which is more like bright green), pink
May 28, 2015 5:13 AM - Bill Monroe: works great but I still like the color of the blue Robo pla better
May 28, 2015 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: well the shaxon blue is a little translucent
May 28, 2015 5:14 AM - BryZad: I have been buying filmanet from Amazon filament depot
May 28, 2015 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: jb's cardboard life sign reads "Will work for PLA"
    May 28, 2015 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: yep

    May 28, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: tolerance?
    May 28, 2015 5:43 AM - jbigler1986: who doesn't like sherbert?
May 28, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: none really.. I calibrated the machine so 1" is 1"
May 28, 2015 5:44 AM - JeffTheMess: oh okay that good
May 28, 2015 5:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: sherbert is like 5th rate ice cream
    May 28, 2015 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: it's good though
    May 28, 2015 5:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: ice cream, gelato, .... ..... .... soft serve, sherbert
May 28, 2015 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: they used to make sherbert in a cardboard tube .. you pushed in one end and it came out the other
May 28, 2015 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: when I was a kid, the ice cream man had them.. summers were fun
May 28, 2015 5:45 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah they still make them like that...goood stuff
    May 28, 2015 5:45 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    May 28, 2015 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: those things are the bomb

    May 28, 2015 5:47 AM - jbigler1986: actually (right click > copy image url > then paste
May 28, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: thanks Jeff, I'm real pleased with the way the sprocket came out.. no more buying expensive collets for me
May 28, 2015 5:50 AM - TechSupportGo: good morning folks
May 28, 2015 5:50 AM - JeffTheMess: thats the whole purpose of a printer right...to get what we need in a few hours instead of a few days (or weeks)
    May 28, 2015 5:50 AM - JeffTheMess: hey Tech
May 28, 2015 5:51 AM - TechSupportGo: I accidentally unplugged my printer about half way through my last piece :(
    May 28, 2015 5:51 AM - JeffTheMess:
May 28, 2015 5:52 AM - TechSupportGo: had to start over.. I plugged in to my big ups this time just in case it decides to storm again
May 28, 2015 5:53 AM - JeffTheMess: is it done now or close to being done?
    May 28, 2015 5:53 AM - TechSupportGo: 12 more hours
May 28, 2015 5:54 AM - TechSupportGo: then sand, prime, assemble, disassemble, paint, clear coat, reassemble and rock out!!
May 28, 2015 5:55 AM - JeffTheMess: I cant wait to see the end results
    May 28, 2015 5:59 AM - TechSupportGo: me too
May 28, 2015 6:01 AM - TechSupportGo: whiles thats printing I am working on an easy clip on cable chain with no rewire or disassembly
    May 28, 2015 6:01 AM - jbigler1986: for the robo?
    May 28, 2015 6:01 AM - TechSupportGo: yeah
May 28, 2015 6:02 AM - jbigler1986: not a fan of those. i like the wires to be more flexible
May 28, 2015 6:02 AM - TechSupportGo: i am sure its mostly novel
May 28, 2015 6:16 AM - JeffTheMess: but it does look cool
    May 28, 2015 6:29 AM - jbigler1986: that it does
May 28, 2015 6:37 AM - Bill Monroe: hmmm I've got a bunch of smartmotors I could use.. zero stepper whine...
    May 28, 2015 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: for what
    May 28, 2015 6:49 AM - bamhm182: Hey guys
May 28, 2015 6:49 AM - bamhm182: I finally picked up a can of aquanet, and now I'm wondering what I was doing this whole time trying to use glue sticks
    May 28, 2015 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: [high 5]
May 28, 2015 6:51 AM - bamhm182: How've you been, jb? Been a minute since I last got on here, anything significant change?
    May 28, 2015 6:53 AM - jbigler1986: nope
    May 28, 2015 6:53 AM - jbigler1986: u?
May 28, 2015 6:54 AM - bamhm182: Nope. Stepper drivers are still needing to be calibrated a little bit, haven't been doing a whole lot of printing this past week
May 28, 2015 6:57 AM - bamhm182: Some friends and I went to this anime convention, didn't think I'd be too into it since I haven't watched any anime for about a decade, but it was actually a lot of fun
May 28, 2015 6:58 AM - bamhm182: Got me thinking about all kinds of projects that I want to start
May 28, 2015 6:59 AM - BryZad: that's kinda how I got into prop making bam
May 28, 2015 6:59 AM - bamhm182: Actually, I guess something kind of big did happen, we got approved to rent this house. It's pretty sweet, but I'm mostly excited about the garage.
May 28, 2015 7:00 AM - BryZad: anyone try using white glue as filler sealer on prints
May 28, 2015 7:01 AM - bamhm182: BryZad, it's pretty cool stuff. There was a TON of cosplay, only a few of them were really badass, but when they were, they were awesome
    May 28, 2015 7:01 AM - bamhm182: No, you mean like elmer's glue
May 28, 2015 7:02 AM - BryZad: yea I made my friend a redhood mask and he is going to see how it works
May 28, 2015 7:03 AM - BryZad: I make halo and Star wars props
May 28, 2015 7:06 AM - bamhm182: How much of it do you use your printer for?
May 28, 2015 7:10 AM - bamhm182: I found a website that has models for every single pokemon, so we were thinking about scaling them up, finding a total of 7 people, and making full body pokemon costumes for 6 of us, with 1 being a trainer
May 28, 2015 7:12 AM - daniel871: And I thought I was being too nerdy thinking about printing the working Pokeball thing for my cousin that is into the games.
May 28, 2015 7:13 AM - daniel871: Working as in it can open and have a pokemon model in it.
May 28, 2015 7:13 AM - jbigler1986: where r these pokemon models. my kids would be in heaven
May 28, 2015 7:13 AM - mark tomlinson: Too nerdy I think is like 'too much money' Not really acheivable
May 28, 2015 7:14 AM - BryZad: check my m45 shotgun build in the forms 98% printed
    May 28, 2015 7:14 AM - JeffTheMess: gotta print'em all
May 28, 2015 7:14 AM - daniel871: Which friend is going to go as the Gardevoir?
May 28, 2015 7:15 AM - daniel871: Or whichever one it is that has the extremely creepy fan images of it tying up the trainer.
May 28, 2015 7:15 AM - JeffTheMess: hey Bry..how accurate are you props? (just curious)
    May 28, 2015 7:16 AM - BryZad: 98%
May 28, 2015 7:17 AM - JeffTheMess: oops sorry just read it now
May 28, 2015 7:18 AM - JeffTheMess: thats pretty good... i know some people gets their stuff licensed to make them official
May 28, 2015 7:18 AM - BryZad: that shotgun is scaled down a bit cause it would be the same size as a full hunting shotgun
    May 28, 2015 7:18 AM - bamhm182: http://roestudios.co.uk/project/3d-pokemon-models/

May 28, 2015 7:19 AM - daniel871: I was about to ask if there was a Thingiverse collection that had them all.
May 28, 2015 7:19 AM - BryZad: so its about 6 inches shorter to be easier to use and carry at cons
May 28, 2015 7:19 AM - bamhm182: A lot of them don't print GREAT without a bit of modification since they were not designed to be printed
    May 28, 2015 7:20 AM - bamhm182: I agree with mark's statement, haha
May 28, 2015 7:20 AM - BryZad: I am going to mold and cast the finished prop
    May 28, 2015 7:21 AM - daniel871: Gotta download'em all.
May 28, 2015 7:21 AM - bamhm182: It is Gardevoir, daniel. We were thinking about different ones because there are always a ton of Gardevoir, I don't get it, haha
May 28, 2015 7:21 AM - daniel871: It vaguely looks like an anime fetish character, so you know, Rule 34 and all.
    May 28, 2015 7:22 AM - bamhm182: Yeah, guess it makes sense
    May 28, 2015 7:22 AM - JeffTheMess: bry....http://www.instructables.com/id/Modeling-Props-for-3D-Printing/
May 28, 2015 7:22 AM - bamhm182: But yeah, one wanted to be Cubone, one wanted to be Machamp, I really want to give Groudon a try
May 28, 2015 7:22 AM - daniel871: I wish there was a good tutorial for making a 3D photo print that didn't depend on backlighting to display properly.
May 28, 2015 7:23 AM - daniel871: Lithophanes are neat, but I'd like to print a greyscale graduation portrait with some depth to it.
May 28, 2015 7:25 AM - bamhm182: We were thinking that we could try our hand at custom pokeballs too. Might go as simple as putting a silhouette of each one's head on the pokeball, but I was thinking it would be badass if we could get Cubone's pokeball to look like a cubone skull
    May 28, 2015 7:25 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    May 28, 2015 7:25 AM - BryZad: morning mike
    May 28, 2015 7:25 AM - JeffTheMess: morning mike
May 28, 2015 7:26 AM - daniel871: Kind of like how you can carve images with Vcarve on a CNC mill.
    May 28, 2015 7:28 AM - bamhm182: Hey mike
    May 28, 2015 7:28 AM - bamhm182: how's your new extruders working out?
    May 28, 2015 7:29 AM - Mike Kelly: they're doing great
    May 28, 2015 7:29 AM - daniel871: Ah, missed opportunity for a joke yesterday.
    May 28, 2015 7:29 AM - bamhm182: What joke?
May 28, 2015 7:29 AM - bamhm182: Glad to hear it, worth the couple hundred bucks?
May 28, 2015 7:29 AM - jbigler1986: Morning MK. Reprinting the bit holder. It's almost done
May 28, 2015 7:29 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a tough question, i won't know the answer to that till i test out the cyclops again
    May 28, 2015 7:29 AM - daniel871:
May 28, 2015 7:29 AM - BryZad: Mike new update on the shotgun build
    May 28, 2015 7:30 AM - daniel871: That joke.
May 28, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Kelly: oh nice
    May 28, 2015 7:30 AM - bamhm182: Fair enough
May 28, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Kelly: nice color change jb
May 28, 2015 7:30 AM - bamhm182: On the plus side, you only have to wait 6 days, haha
    May 28, 2015 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: Well I didn't have a spool with enough material that I liked without changing colors
    May 28, 2015 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: So I went with those 2.
May 28, 2015 7:31 AM - Mike Kelly: haha whatever works
May 28, 2015 7:32 AM - bamhm182: By the way, Mike, what screws are you using for the fans on your carriage?
May 28, 2015 7:32 AM - daniel871: Anybody have any experience using Sculptris?
    May 28, 2015 7:33 AM - bamhm182: Never heard of it
May 28, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Kelly: the ones that came with my e3d stuff
    May 28, 2015 7:33 AM - daniel871: http://pixologic.com/sculptris/
May 28, 2015 7:33 AM - daniel871: I'll try to play with it some time the next week or so and then post a thread about it.
    May 28, 2015 7:34 AM - Mike Kelly: http://e3d-online.com/Mechanical/Fixings/Screws-for-Plastic-3mm
    May 28, 2015 7:36 AM - bamhm182: Alright
May 28, 2015 7:36 AM - bamhm182: Any reason you didn't just go with M3? Was it because of the bigger threads?
May 28, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah these cut into plastic better, m3 would probably be fine
May 28, 2015 7:37 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd also have to look around for some m3-16mm
May 28, 2015 7:38 AM - daniel871: Apparently Sculptris exports as OBJ format. How well does Simplify3D handle that format?
May 28, 2015 7:38 AM - Mike Kelly: should be fine, it's one of the loading options
    May 28, 2015 7:39 AM - daniel871: Hm.
May 28, 2015 7:39 AM - daniel871: Okay, something new to play with at any rate.
May 28, 2015 7:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: i think MK is torturing me by posting that link
May 28, 2015 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: lol why stephen
    May 28, 2015 7:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: i recently discovered a co-worker is anti-plastites
May 28, 2015 7:41 AM - bamhm182: I just took a dremel to the holes so I could get an M3 screw in there easier, and it looks like you're right
May 28, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: why would someone be against that
    May 28, 2015 7:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: ignorance
    May 28, 2015 7:41 AM - Mike Kelly: apparently
May 28, 2015 7:42 AM - Stephen Capistron: concerned that through repeated use they will wear-out and fail
May 28, 2015 7:42 AM - bamhm182: Did you see I finished making the plate for the hex, Mike?
May 28, 2015 7:42 AM - bamhm182: I haven't actually gotten around to putting it all together, but it looks like it should work
    May 28, 2015 7:42 AM - daniel871: That's true of just about anything, though.
    May 28, 2015 7:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: exactly
May 28, 2015 7:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: you think a press-fit insert on that same plastic part is really that much better? ugh
May 28, 2015 7:43 AM - Mike Kelly: well that is true
May 28, 2015 7:43 AM - daniel871: Welp, I need to get some work done today. Later.
    May 28, 2015 7:43 AM - bamhm182: [IMG][IMG]
May 28, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i wouldn't use plastite on things that need repeated loading
    May 28, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Kelly: that's cool looking bam
    May 28, 2015 7:44 AM - bamhm182: Thanks
May 28, 2015 7:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: no, but during something that might be assembled and re-assembled a few times during initial set up
May 28, 2015 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i used plastite screws on my eye tracker design and one of the holes would wear out real quick
    May 28, 2015 7:52 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
May 28, 2015 7:55 AM - jbigler1986: Bill let me know when you try out that frys flex filament :)
May 28, 2015 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: I'll look into it next time I'm at Frys..
May 28, 2015 7:56 AM - JeffTheMess: Bill is going Flex!?
May 28, 2015 7:57 AM - Bill Monroe: hold on there Hondo, just a look-see
May 28, 2015 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: lovejoy spiders are about the only app I would have for it
May 28, 2015 8:00 AM - JeffTheMess: ypu should make a pair of gloves
May 28, 2015 8:00 AM - bamhm182: Anyways, going to bed, I'll see you all around
May 28, 2015 8:00 AM - Bill Monroe: sleep tight
    May 28, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: later
    May 28, 2015 8:02 AM - donhuevo: morning
May 28, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: sup don
    May 28, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: crud i think i broke solidworks
May 28, 2015 8:03 AM - donhuevo: working on a turntable to fit inside this airtight container I found
    May 28, 2015 8:04 AM - donhuevo: SfnW
    May 28, 2015 8:05 AM - Bill Monroe: a pair of gloves?!?
    May 28, 2015 8:06 AM - JeffTheMess: flexible glove
May 28, 2015 8:06 AM - Bill Monroe: can I bury a blue laser in it?
May 28, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Kelly: how is tpe for chemical resistance, i wonder if you could actually print a glove...
    May 28, 2015 8:08 AM - JeffTheMess: We have the technology...[IMG]
May 28, 2015 8:08 AM - donhuevo: resistance is futile
    May 28, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Glass: ^@ @^
May 28, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: what up pups
May 28, 2015 8:12 AM - JeffTheMess: Someone has to try it...I want to know now
May 28, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: is jb still around
    May 28, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: yep

May 28, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: what was the cal cube you linked last night about?
May 28, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: just trying to make me jealous?
    May 28, 2015 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: the blue and white one?
    May 28, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: right
May 28, 2015 8:20 AM - jbigler1986: was just showing you that my pause cause worked
May 28, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: ah gotcha
May 28, 2015 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: had to remove the x movement because it just kept moving all the way to the end stop and kept trying to move farther for a few seconds
    May 28, 2015 8:21 AM - Mike Kelly: what's the gcode
    May 28, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: welp it's been 20 minutes and solidworks hasn't recovered
May 28, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Kelly: guess i need to force it closed
May 28, 2015 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: find what layer you want to pause at. Open the sliced gcode in a text editor. find the layer number. Say you want it pause at layer 100. find layer 99. At the end of the code for that line enter you z raise and retract. I used G1 E-5 F300 followed by G1 Z20 F200 followed by M0
May 28, 2015 8:24 AM - JeffTheMess: Is this the new version your using mike?
May 28, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: what was the X gcode you tried that didn't work
    May 28, 2015 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: G1 X10 F150 I think
May 28, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: and that caused it to crash?
May 28, 2015 8:25 AM - donhuevo: built Ford Tough
    May 28, 2015 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
May 28, 2015 8:26 AM - jbigler1986: it moved very very slowly and just didn't stop until it got to the endstop
    May 28, 2015 8:28 AM - daniel871: Fixed Or Repaired Daily, yep.
    May 28, 2015 8:28 AM - daniel871: And I say that as a Ford owner.
May 28, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike what is your #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION set at on your Robo's?
    May 28, 2015 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/115065176676738755459/posts/KA2jaBQJ4EX?cfem=1
May 28, 2015 8:30 AM - daniel871: I like how after I went and bought the volcano and enclosure kits the v6 started working properly when printing again.
    May 28, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: {9000,9000,100,10000} though i never changed them
    May 28, 2015 8:31 AM - daniel871: "Start working or you'll be replaced!"
May 28, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: it saw the writing on the wall daniel
May 28, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: Jb said the z should be 1500?
    May 28, 2015 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: that's what mine is
May 28, 2015 8:32 AM - donhuevo: z hardly moves and never fast enough to have an acceleration setting make any difference
May 28, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: or does that even matter as it does not move that far at a time.
May 28, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: don's the one i got my acceleration stuff from
May 28, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i should really look into that one day
May 28, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Glass: thats the stock robo config
    May 28, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: right
May 28, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: probably default marlin as well
May 28, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: So JB changed his for some reason
    May 28, 2015 8:34 AM - donhuevo: #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {800,800,100,10000}
    May 28, 2015 8:34 AM - donhuevo: that's where I'm at
May 28, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Glass: hey im 800,800,80,10000 on my multitool
May 28, 2015 8:35 AM - donhuevo: sounds more robotic and less like a pinball machine
May 28, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: That bullet box addition really cut back on the pinball machine sounds for me.
May 28, 2015 8:36 AM - daniel871: That and rigging the electrical wire support with an expanding foam earplug to keep it from dragging back and forth as the X-axis moved.
May 28, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass: I cant hear anything other that fans on mine, they are going bad, need to find a replacement for the hotend
    May 28, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: http://opensource.com/life/15/5/hubble-3d-laser-cutter
May 28, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: yeah my fans are kinda loud. machine itself is quite
    May 28, 2015 8:39 AM - jbigler1986: BIll is that shaxon blue?
May 28, 2015 8:55 AM - jbigler1986: what should I print with the translucent black
    May 28, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Kelly: a grim reaper
    May 28, 2015 8:57 AM - jbigler1986: face or figure?
May 28, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Kelly: the figure looks cool
    May 28, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: let me see if i can find a good one

May 28, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: good luck printing that
May 28, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: well i like the one i found
    May 28, 2015 9:03 AM - jbigler1986: lol
May 28, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: that one is cool mike, I like the led light
    May 28, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
May 28, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: seems like it would be cool in a translucent black
    May 28, 2015 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: this week is dragging
    May 28, 2015 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: leaving in 30 minutes though

May 28, 2015 9:13 AM - donhuevo: too bad they don't make them big enough for standard 2kg rolls
May 28, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Kelly: i love oxo pop tops
May 28, 2015 9:13 AM - donhuevo: that's what I'm using for my bridge dispenser

    May 28, 2015 9:17 AM - donhuevo: pains me
May 28, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: the cyclops can't really go above 30mm/s anyways
    May 28, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Kelly: it's no don's bot
May 28, 2015 9:22 AM - donhuevo: I didn't know it had to print so slow. glad I didn't invest
May 28, 2015 9:26 AM - Stargrove1: Hi guys, I work on the chimera with a single stepper

May 28, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: k, i probably should spend some time learning to speak the language as a first step
May 28, 2015 9:56 AM - Stargrove1: Depends on where you work, in my company are many international people, many of them only speak english and their native language
May 28, 2015 9:56 AM - donhuevo: in this day and age, you should only need an accent
    May 28, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: that's cool
May 28, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: how are germans about science and science denialism?
May 28, 2015 9:57 AM - Stargrove1: What kind of job do you search?
    May 28, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm a mechanical engineer by trade
May 28, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd like to do something involving product design, right now i do design for manufacture for a high pressure system
May 28, 2015 9:58 AM - Stargrove1: Well I work at Valeo, we have some mechanical engineers
May 28, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i also have experience with consumer electronics packaging design including design for injection molding
    May 28, 2015 9:59 AM - Stargrove1: Big supplier for automotive manufacturer
May 28, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd like to do automotive design
    May 28, 2015 9:59 AM - Stargrove1: about science denialism ... don't know what you mean
    May 28, 2015 9:59 AM - donhuevo: I'd like cheap Volkswagen parts
    May 28, 2015 10:00 AM - Stargrove1: Volkswagen parts are nowhere cheap :)
    May 28, 2015 10:00 AM - Stargrove1: checkout http://www.valeo.com/en, they offer jobs there
May 28, 2015 10:00 AM - Mike Kelly: awesome i'll look at their postings
    May 28, 2015 10:00 AM - Stargrove1: also have a look at Bosch
    May 28, 2015 10:01 AM - Stargrove1: our competitor :)
May 28, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: there's a lot of skepticism about science here in america, people who believe strange things that contradict scientific findings
May 28, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: such as the anti-vaccination movement, creationism, etc
May 28, 2015 10:01 AM - Stargrove1: Since Germany has many car manufacturer around, changes are good to give it a try
May 28, 2015 10:02 AM - Stargrove1: I never heared of that in Germany ... they wait for the iphones in front of stores here
May 28, 2015 10:02 AM - daniel871: They do that here, too. America is weird.
May 28, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: awesome, any leads is much appreciated
May 28, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: america is weird for sure
May 28, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: lots of technophiles and technophobes, i don't understand it
May 28, 2015 10:03 AM - Stargrove1: Economy is growing at the moment, if you want to try, its a good time. 2008, 2009 was bad
May 28, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: i want to live somewhere where science is embraced and understood
May 28, 2015 10:04 AM - Stargrove1: Then I think you may like it here
    May 28, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: agreed
May 28, 2015 10:06 AM - Stargrove1: If you want to stick with automotive branche, the region around stuttgart, munich and other big cities would be good to search
May 28, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd love to work on autonomous vehicle design but I fear I lack the programming background to ever make that happen
May 28, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'd be happy just designing parts and products
May 28, 2015 10:06 AM - Stargrove1: Do you know the park assist that beeps and parks for you automatically?
    May 28, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
    May 28, 2015 10:07 AM - Stargrove1: Valeo developed it here
    May 28, 2015 10:08 AM - Stargrove1: I drove the prototype one day
May 28, 2015 10:09 AM - donhuevo: I think of vehicle autonomy every day on my commute
May 28, 2015 10:10 AM - Stargrove1: Google and other companies are working on this
May 28, 2015 10:10 AM - donhuevo: seems like a fun problem to try and solve
May 28, 2015 10:11 AM - Stargrove1: At a exhibition, we presented a car which drives autonomously to the parking area
May 28, 2015 10:11 AM - Stargrove1: At the moment it would not be possible by law, a car has be controlled by the driver at any time
May 28, 2015 10:11 AM - donhuevo: I'm thinking thousands of them at the same time rush hour
May 28, 2015 10:12 AM - donhuevo: no traffic lights or stop signs
May 28, 2015 10:13 AM - Stargrove1: Safety is huge aspect, technically this would be possible soon. But what if someone gets injured, who is responsible etc
May 28, 2015 10:13 AM - donhuevo: and all the texters maiming people now?
    May 28, 2015 10:15 AM - Stargrove1: :)
May 28, 2015 10:16 AM - donhuevo: I'm thinking smart intersections to go along with smart cars. Every intersection would be like an airport with air traffic control.
    May 28, 2015 10:17 AM - Stargrove1: Mike, this is also a big job site http://www.stepstone.de
May 28, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: awesome thanks
May 28, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: besides some sort of computer malfunction i'm not entirely sure what could cause an autonomous crash that was the cars fault
    May 28, 2015 10:19 AM - donhuevo: deer
May 28, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: and it would probably be handled the same way as a recall
May 28, 2015 10:19 AM - donhuevo: which is why every car needs a laser
May 28, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: not the cars fault and it would probably handle it better than a person would because a car could sense it sooner
May 28, 2015 10:20 AM - Stargrove1: steering angle sensors already have a redundent system, two controllers
May 28, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i was gonna say, with redundant sensing it would just trigger an alarm and navigate to a stop safely
May 28, 2015 10:20 AM - donhuevo: intersections would assume control of the car's velocity on approach
May 28, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: but i'm a bit of an optimist
May 28, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: especially if you consider a cars ability to communicate with other vehicles
May 28, 2015 10:21 AM - Stargrove1: Edison was one too for sure, trying so many ways how not to make a light bulb
    May 28, 2015 10:21 AM - Stargrove1: intercomunication will come for sure
May 28, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: biggest concern i have is hackers
May 28, 2015 10:22 AM - donhuevo: which is as concerning now.
May 28, 2015 10:22 AM - Stargrove1: yeah sure, viruses and hacking will enter this area like it did at mobile phones
May 28, 2015 10:22 AM - donhuevo: traffic lights are being networked now
    May 28, 2015 10:24 AM - Stargrove1: BTW, our samples department uses of course a 3D printer
May 28, 2015 10:24 AM - donhuevo: this would be all moot the moment we get cars to fly though. Every direction could have it's own altitude
May 28, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: haha don
May 28, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: it's about time we have a smart traffic grid
May 28, 2015 10:27 AM - donhuevo: at this point it's going to be easier to automate traffic than to eliminate texting and driving
May 28, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: people are the biggest flaw with vehicles right now
May 28, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd love to eliminate them
    May 28, 2015 10:28 AM - donhuevo: agreed
May 28, 2015 10:29 AM - Stephen Capistron: My wife's car has adaptive cruise and all that jazz. We will never go back
    May 28, 2015 10:31 AM - Stargrove1: great, that saves my job ;-)
May 28, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd be happy with lane following and adaptive cruise
May 28, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i need someone to release that this year for my prediction to hold true
May 28, 2015 10:31 AM - donhuevo: pretty much all you'd need between intersections
May 28, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: would make the drive down to new mexico a breeze
May 28, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: all highway, for 450 miles
May 28, 2015 10:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: mercedes has it in the s class
    May 28, 2015 10:32 AM - Stargrove1: I like my climate control .... don't drive a lot, less than 10mins to the Company
    May 28, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: really?
May 28, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to drive less, i have a 1 mile bike ride to work
May 28, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: only problem is the 200ft incline over the first half mile going home
    May 28, 2015 10:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: yeah
    May 28, 2015 10:33 AM - Stargrove1: :)
    May 28, 2015 10:33 AM - donhuevo: that's when you grab someone's bumper
May 28, 2015 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i am marty mcfly afterall
    May 28, 2015 10:34 AM - Stargrove1: 1.21 Gigawatt
May 28, 2015 10:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: supposedly you have to keep a hand on the wheel for it to work
    May 28, 2015 10:34 AM - donhuevo: where we're going we don't need roads
May 28, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: there is that dude that hoverboarded across a lake
May 28, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: so that's at least kinda coming true
May 28, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: still no flying vehicles worth mentioning
    May 28, 2015 10:35 AM - Stephen Capistron:
May 28, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: especially after that dude crashed his

May 28, 2015 10:35 AM - Stephen Capistron: I don't know what the status of tesla's autopilot is
May 28, 2015 10:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: there is the hondo hover board, and terrafugia with their flying car
May 28, 2015 10:36 AM - Mike Kelly: not quite the same as lane following
May 28, 2015 10:36 AM - donhuevo: that's funny... the mercedes video started with a BMW commercial
May 28, 2015 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: super cool car though
May 28, 2015 10:37 AM - Stargrove1: we are producing some of the sensors/system for Mercedes an BMW as well
May 28, 2015 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i need to apply at your company then :)
    May 28, 2015 10:38 AM - Stargrove1: Try it
May 28, 2015 10:38 AM - Stargrove1: Valeo is also in US by the way
May 28, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah, don't think they're in colorado though
May 28, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: wouldn't want to move to another state
    May 28, 2015 10:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: i still want this
    May 28, 2015 10:39 AM - Stargrove1:
    May 28, 2015 10:40 AM - Stargrove1:
May 28, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: lmao the car jumped over the obstacle! what!
    May 28, 2015 10:43 AM - Stargrove1: Turbo boost?
May 28, 2015 10:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: electromegnetic suspension
May 28, 2015 10:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: made by a speaker / sound company
May 28, 2015 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i feel like some vehicles come with that now
May 28, 2015 10:45 AM - Stargrove1: Low riders are doing this for years ;-)
May 28, 2015 10:45 AM - Stephen Capistron: it is not to that extent
    May 28, 2015 10:45 AM - Stargrove1: I know Bose only as a high quality entertainment brand
May 28, 2015 10:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: my wife's car has what you are thinking of, the hydraulic fluid changes viscosity from an electric charge
May 28, 2015 10:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: this seems more like a giant solenoid
May 28, 2015 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: ah ok
May 28, 2015 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i really want valet parking
May 28, 2015 10:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: just pull into a parking lot and send your car off to park
May 28, 2015 10:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: then talk into your watch and have your car come get you
May 28, 2015 10:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: but while you were gone it transformed into a black firebird
    May 28, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Kelly: it's the future!
    May 28, 2015 10:48 AM - Stargrove1: Kitt bro ... pick me up
May 28, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: lol the timing on that was epic
May 28, 2015 10:49 AM - Stephen Capistron: we aim to please
May 28, 2015 10:49 AM - Stephen Capistron: stargrove has to be a huge Hoff fan
May 28, 2015 10:50 AM - Stargrove1: All Germans are ... he teared down the Berlin wall ;-)
May 28, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah germans are obsessed with the hoff
May 28, 2015 10:50 AM - Stargrove1: I was eight years old and we finally got cable TV ... he was cool for an eight year old boy
    May 28, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: it's kind of a hilarious stereotype
    May 28, 2015 10:51 AM - Stephen Capistron:
May 28, 2015 10:51 AM - Stargrove1: Not really Mike, thats like all Germans eat Sauerkraut and dressed up in Lederhosen
    May 28, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i know, it's a stereotype after all :)
    May 28, 2015 10:52 AM - Stargrove1: yeah
May 28, 2015 10:52 AM - Stargrove1: But he is awesome, how he was able to hold the breath while runing in slow motion along the beach
    May 28, 2015 10:53 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
    May 28, 2015 10:53 AM - Stargrove1: Baywatch
    May 28, 2015 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: @don:
May 28, 2015 10:54 AM - Stephen Capistron: more like babewatch am i right
May 28, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Kelly: you are correct sir
    May 28, 2015 10:59 AM - jbigler1986: back
May 28, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: the cable for this fan is 4ft long
May 28, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Glass: damn filaflex is kinda flexible
May 28, 2015 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: and the pin polarity is different on the connector than a typical fan
    May 28, 2015 11:04 AM - JeffTheMess: Kind of!?
    May 28, 2015 11:05 AM - Mike Glass: yea, only like 1000%
    May 28, 2015 11:05 AM - JeffTheMess: i think i didn't go back to its normal form
    May 28, 2015 11:06 AM - JeffTheMess: I can't tell
May 28, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: might work great for JB's Dildo generator
May 28, 2015 11:06 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah he definitely pushed that past the elastic regime
    May 28, 2015 11:07 AM - donhuevo: wow
May 28, 2015 11:07 AM - JeffTheMess: I wonder how far it can stretch and go back to its shape
May 28, 2015 11:09 AM - JeffTheMess: JB is now buying it for that lol
May 28, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: gonna make his robo jealous
May 28, 2015 11:12 AM - jbigler1986: i leave for a few and what is going on here
May 28, 2015 11:13 AM - JeffTheMess: your dildo business is about to...explode?
    May 28, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Glass: nuffin
May 28, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Glass: He has been printing alot for "work" lately
May 28, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: you people are obsessed
    May 28, 2015 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: i didn't mention it this time
    May 28, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
May 28, 2015 11:16 AM - jbigler1986: get to print some more stuff for work now
May 28, 2015 11:16 AM - daniel871: You mean there are people that *aren't* using their 3D printer to print dildoes?
May 28, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: hopefully no one is
May 28, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: because it's not body safe
May 28, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: that's why the dildo generator just prints the mold
May 28, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Kelly: you need to use a certain kind of silicone
May 28, 2015 11:17 AM - JeffTheMess: tell that to makerfair
May 28, 2015 11:18 AM - daniel871: Sorry about not being specific about the mold printing.
May 28, 2015 11:20 AM - JeffTheMess: i would look it up but my job will question that subject i would assume but you guys can have that honor
May 28, 2015 11:20 AM - daniel871: Think I'm going to print a chess set next with that chess board Don Huevo posted a while back.
    May 28, 2015 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: taulman 618 is body safe isn't it?
    May 28, 2015 11:20 AM - daniel871: Bridge?
    May 28, 2015 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.3dsupplyworld.com/taulman-618-3mm-nylon-3d-printer-filament/
May 28, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to print a chess board for the squirrel set i made
May 28, 2015 11:21 AM - daniel871: I never did get Bridge to print well. Kept cooling and delaminating too fast.
May 28, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Kelly: body safe is very particular
May 28, 2015 11:21 AM - daniel871: Hopefully the enclosure set I ordered from PrintedSolid will fix that once I put it together.
    May 28, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: :)
    May 28, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: yay!
May 28, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: everyone should get an enclosure
May 28, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Glass: Or just print one
May 28, 2015 11:22 AM - daniel871: Thought it had to be laser cut.
May 28, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: lol, na buy it from printed solid
May 28, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Kelly: well you can print one but it would be a lot of pieces and not see through
May 28, 2015 11:23 AM - daniel871: Also I'd like to be able to see through it.
    May 28, 2015 11:23 AM - daniel871: snap.
    May 28, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Glass: print a window with t-glase:p
May 28, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: so laser cut acrylic is the way to go
May 28, 2015 11:23 AM - donhuevo: that chess board was a pain in the ass
May 28, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: t-glase plus XTC might be see through enough

May 28, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Glass: I could cut one out on the Multitool, as soon as find the right bit
May 28, 2015 11:24 AM - daniel871: I'm going to print it with laywood instead of PLA, don.
May 28, 2015 11:24 AM - donhuevo: still plan on lots of post work to get it to all fit together
May 28, 2015 11:24 AM - daniel871: Got a spool of light and dark, figure I'll print the board in light and the inserts in dark.
May 28, 2015 11:24 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you'd need to modify the design a bit to account for the sharp edges
    May 28, 2015 11:25 AM - daniel871: And the actual chess pieces I haven't decided yet.
May 28, 2015 11:25 AM - JeffTheMess: she might like that
May 28, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i want to try another dual extrusion chess board
May 28, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Kelly: but with the cyclops
May 28, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: though it'd also be fun to make it out of wood
May 28, 2015 11:28 AM - daniel871: I wonder how hard it would be to make that transmission assembly an Automatic.
    May 28, 2015 11:28 AM - daniel871: Assuming somebody hasn't already done it.
May 28, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: good luck with that without hydraulics
May 28, 2015 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: that's bc you need to tweak your machine don. print negative tolerance tests and keep adjusting
    May 28, 2015 11:30 AM - jbigler1986: i did that until i could remove all 5 pegs
    May 28, 2015 11:30 AM - donhuevo: hmmmm
May 28, 2015 11:31 AM - daniel871: Emmet has a simplified one that shows how it works,, but yeah, the electrical bits need to be figured out. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34778
    May 28, 2015 11:31 AM - daniel871: electrical & hydraulic
May 28, 2015 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i want to print that auto
May 28, 2015 11:34 AM - daniel871: I'm finding way too much neat stuff I want to print and play with.
May 28, 2015 11:34 AM - daniel871: There were several architectural kit sets that were basically lincoln log sets. Man that takes me back.
May 28, 2015 11:35 AM - JeffTheMess: its an obession
May 28, 2015 11:36 AM - donhuevo: erector set and spirograph. two of my favorites
    May 28, 2015 11:37 AM - daniel871: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:252162
    May 28, 2015 11:37 AM - daniel871: Spirograph!
    May 28, 2015 11:38 AM - donhuevo: holy crap!
May 28, 2015 11:39 AM - daniel871: My "Things to Make" collection is getting huge.
May 28, 2015 11:39 AM - JeffTheMess: print it and get it out the way
    May 28, 2015 11:41 AM - jbigler1986: i haven't been able to print tinkering stuff in a few weeks
    May 28, 2015 11:42 AM - daniel871: http://www.thingiverse.com/daniel871/collections/things-to-make/page:1
May 28, 2015 11:42 AM - daniel871: Assuming that is something Thingiverse will share.
May 28, 2015 11:42 AM - jbigler1986: should have a boyfriend coming for my girl next week
May 28, 2015 11:43 AM - jbigler1986: another robo for you dirty mind people. lol
May 28, 2015 11:43 AM - daniel871: I was going to say something about open relationships, but ok.
May 28, 2015 11:44 AM - daniel871: I wonder if what I'm doing with the PTFE tubing above the Greg's Wade is doing any good or if it's a placebo thing.
May 28, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: (other than eliminating the groove-wearing in the sides of the slot up there).
    May 28, 2015 11:46 AM - jbigler1986: pic?
    May 28, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: 1st pic in my printer thread.
    May 28, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: & second
    May 28, 2015 11:46 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    May 28, 2015 11:47 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
May 28, 2015 11:47 AM - daniel871: I had a lot of extra PTFE tubing when I installed the v6, so I figured it should be used for something.
May 28, 2015 11:49 AM - jbigler1986: I would have it stop at the bottom of the spool
May 28, 2015 11:49 AM - daniel871: That second pic was as it was getting close to finishing the dragon that was printed.
May 28, 2015 11:50 AM - daniel871: (So the extra length was feeding up onto the spool as the Z axis went up)
May 28, 2015 11:55 AM - daniel871: Basically wanted it so it wouldn't snag on the inside of the slot when Z was at the home/bed position.
May 28, 2015 11:57 AM - jbigler1986: reason you are using it at all?
May 28, 2015 11:58 AM - Mike Kelly: you pulled the trigger jb?\
May 28, 2015 11:58 AM - daniel871: The more fragile filaments like laywood would snap as they slid back and forth on the groove edge.
    May 28, 2015 11:58 AM - jbigler1986: i sent him an email saying yes
    May 28, 2015 11:58 AM - Mike Kelly: bitchin
May 28, 2015 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: very curious to see how the rods are
May 28, 2015 11:59 AM - daniel871: Is there a waiting list somewhere to get offers like that?
May 28, 2015 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: waiting list?
May 28, 2015 12:00 PM - daniel871: Like, "hey, we have this prototype we're done with, let's see if so-and-so wants to buy it" list.
    May 28, 2015 12:01 PM - Mike Kelly: it's not really a prototype
May 28, 2015 12:01 PM - Mike Kelly: you just need to email braydon
    May 28, 2015 12:01 PM - Mike Kelly: he's buying a refurbished unit
    May 28, 2015 12:01 PM - daniel871: Ah.
    May 28, 2015 12:01 PM - jbigler1986: with some extras
May 28, 2015 12:02 PM - jbigler1986: it's a matter of being active and helping them out with support and stuff. That's why MK got one for free
May 28, 2015 12:02 PM - daniel871: Earlier this week I almost bought an Arisaka to add to my collection and was thinking "I could buy upgrades for my printer with that money instead, or put it towards saving up for a better printer".
    May 28, 2015 12:03 PM - toy: yo
May 28, 2015 12:03 PM - jbigler1986: honestly i don't see much of a reason for a "better" printer. quality wise that is. faster yes, dual yes, quality no
    May 28, 2015 12:03 PM - toy: i'll sell you a printer =)
May 28, 2015 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: unless it has a bigger build volume that can get the same quality i can now no thanks
    May 28, 2015 12:05 PM - daniel871: Yeah I'm mainly thinking of speed and/or more extruders.
May 28, 2015 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i mostly just want to build one from scratch
May 28, 2015 12:05 PM - toy: how big are you thinking...
May 28, 2015 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: even though we alll know i don't need another printer
    May 28, 2015 12:05 PM - toy: u need a delta
    May 28, 2015 12:05 PM - toy: with azteg x3 pro
    May 28, 2015 12:06 PM - daniel871: http://bigrep.com/
    May 28, 2015 12:06 PM - daniel871: Want one of those.
    May 28, 2015 12:06 PM - toy: i make a big printer like that
    May 28, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: lmao
    May 28, 2015 12:06 PM - toy: to ez
    May 28, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: na for a delta you'd want a smoothieboard
May 28, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: so it can handle the actual delta kinematics instead of the simplified form
May 28, 2015 12:07 PM - toy: smothie has limited extruders i thought
May 28, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: 2 for now but using an ARM chip is the way to go
May 28, 2015 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: i can't imagine how much of a headache the kraken is
May 28, 2015 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: just get 10 tikos and glue parts together
    May 28, 2015 12:08 PM - toy: how much is a bigrep
May 28, 2015 12:08 PM - daniel871: No idea. You fill out a contact form and they send you a quote.
May 28, 2015 12:09 PM - daniel871: Haven't done it yet because I don't have about $10k lying around (which is what I figure the minimum is).
    May 28, 2015 12:09 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd guess somewhere around 5 digits
May 28, 2015 12:10 PM - toy: i could make a bitchn large scale printer for 5ish i would guess... mostly depending on the linear motion compoonents
    May 28, 2015 12:10 PM - daniel871: http://www.fastcolabs.com/3016615/f...rinter-big-enough-to-print-more-than-trinkets
May 28, 2015 12:10 PM - daniel871: Not as big as the other one.
May 28, 2015 12:11 PM - daniel871: Not sure if that actually happened though, the article is 2 years old.
    May 28, 2015 12:12 PM - toy: i even thought about using nema 23's
May 28, 2015 12:14 PM - toy: but my next printer with have ZERO belts, ZERO shafting, ballscrews on all axis, and everything cnc'd ( ot made by hand)
May 28, 2015 12:14 PM - daniel871: I'll probably just keep saving money until the R Mega actually comes out
May 28, 2015 12:14 PM - daniel871: Or another toy catches my attention.
May 28, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: i just want to make the mp multitool
May 28, 2015 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: iguess i need to start printing the parts for that
May 28, 2015 12:15 PM - toy: i sold this printer im making for 2k and that is a really good price
    May 28, 2015 12:16 PM - daniel871: I have no idea what you're talking about, toy.
May 28, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: your metal robo?

    May 28, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    May 28, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Kelly: that's hilarious
May 28, 2015 12:16 PM - toy: i shoud be asking the same price as the makerbot
May 28, 2015 12:17 PM - daniel871: Hoooly crap the bottom just fell out outside.
May 28, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess that's what i should do, build printers then sell them
May 28, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Kelly: bottom just fell out = heavy rain?
    May 28, 2015 12:17 PM - daniel871: Yep.
    May 28, 2015 12:17 PM - toy: i almost doubled my money
    May 28, 2015 12:17 PM - toy: i think i spent about 1300 on parts
May 28, 2015 12:18 PM - daniel871: The commute home is going to suck even harder than usual. Nobody in Atlanta knows how to drive in the rain.
May 28, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder what someone would pay for a eustathios spider
May 28, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm pretty sure no one anywhere knows how to drive in the rain
May 28, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: they seriously drive better in snow here than rain
    May 28, 2015 12:18 PM - toy: chains?
May 28, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: makes no sense
May 28, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Kelly: oh man i remember when i was living in texas we got like 1/4" inch of snow
May 28, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Kelly: and i saw a truck with chains on it's tires
May 28, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: yep Texas was funny that way. Dallas would basically shut down
    May 28, 2015 12:20 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
May 28, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i was in dallas during an ice over, like an 1/8" of solid ice on everything
May 28, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: took me like an hour to drive 2 miles
May 28, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: and in those 2 miles i saw over 20 accidents
May 28, 2015 12:21 PM - toy: btw... my metalbot is alive and moving
May 28, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: oh sweet, spitting filament yet?
May 28, 2015 12:22 PM - toy: not yet... i need to make some mounts.... i could wire it up and run filamnet
    May 28, 2015 12:23 PM - toy: i got the wiring somewhat under control..ill take a pic
May 28, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: i think i finally have all my wiring bugs worked out
May 28, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: which i'll probably ruin since i want to go to the hybrid extruder
    May 28, 2015 12:25 PM - toy: hybrid extruder?
    May 28, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/a06SrHr.png
    May 28, 2015 12:26 PM - toy: lol i had the same thought but with 2 =)
May 28, 2015 12:27 PM - Mike Kelly: good luck assembling that
May 28, 2015 12:28 PM - toy: i pretty sure my x rail can handle it
    May 28, 2015 12:28 PM - toy: http://imgur.com/PIkNtd9
May 28, 2015 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: not really a weight issue as much as a fitment
    May 28, 2015 12:29 PM - donhuevo: dual smooth z rods!
May 28, 2015 12:29 PM - toy: dual THOMPSON smooth z rods =) they were not cheap lol
    May 28, 2015 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: I see plastic parts. how dare you
    May 28, 2015 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: ^
May 28, 2015 12:29 PM - Mike Kelly: seriously, all metal my butt
May 28, 2015 12:29 PM - toy: i did it on purpose to show the kids
May 28, 2015 12:30 PM - toy: how 3d printing can be used to make real world parts
May 28, 2015 12:30 PM - toy: everything that counts is metal... how about that lol
    May 28, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: nope
May 28, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: all metal or gtfo
May 28, 2015 12:31 PM - daniel871: Yeah no, I'm not interested in buying now.
    May 28, 2015 12:31 PM - donhuevo: haha
May 28, 2015 12:31 PM - toy: hahah... i need a cnc to make everyhting metal
May 28, 2015 12:31 PM - donhuevo: wonder what I could get for mine now
May 28, 2015 12:31 PM - daniel871: Give me some zerk fittings for greasing the bearings, too.
May 28, 2015 12:31 PM - toy: to much machining by hand
    May 28, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm surprised you don't have a CNC yet
    May 28, 2015 12:32 PM - daniel871: You mean a CNC mill/router?
May 28, 2015 12:32 PM - toy: its in the pipeline
    May 28, 2015 12:32 PM - daniel871: (Because a 3D printer is technically a CNC machine).
    May 28, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i do
    May 28, 2015 12:32 PM - daniel871: :p
    May 28, 2015 12:33 PM - toy: ill have my bridgeport converted & 50 x 50 inch wood router
May 28, 2015 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: CNC basically means CNC mill/router these days
    May 28, 2015 12:33 PM - daniel871: Also lathe.
    May 28, 2015 12:33 PM - toy: and lathe i forgot
May 28, 2015 12:33 PM - daniel871: I was looking at them, but everything I wanted to do could also be done by a 3D printer nowadays.
May 28, 2015 12:34 PM - toy: ive spending all my money building my new workshop.... damn french doors were 800
    May 28, 2015 12:34 PM - daniel871: The mill/router would be for huge things that I can't afford to buy a machine/material to make.
May 28, 2015 12:34 PM - daniel871: Or massive production runs of small things in sheets of material.
May 28, 2015 12:34 PM - toy: electrical will cost me like 2k
May 28, 2015 12:35 PM - toy: i dont even want to get in how much soundproofing is gonna cost
May 28, 2015 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: i need to find a CNC router design i can make from a CNC plasma table
May 28, 2015 12:35 PM - donhuevo: does that electrical include a new service?
    May 28, 2015 12:35 PM - toy: nope
    May 28, 2015 12:36 PM - donhuevo: wow
May 28, 2015 12:36 PM - daniel871: New service would depend on how many amps you have to play with already.
May 28, 2015 12:36 PM - toy: im tryin to get the city to run me a true 3 phase from the pole right next to me
May 28, 2015 12:36 PM - toy: ill split the cost with them
    May 28, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd be happy with 220 or 240
    May 28, 2015 1:11 PM - donhuevo: 220, 221... whatever it takes
May 28, 2015 1:12 PM - donhuevo: Name that movie
May 28, 2015 1:13 PM - Mike Kelly: had to google it
    May 28, 2015 1:14 PM - donhuevo: cheater
May 28, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: Pretty handy guy
May 28, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i never would have known
May 28, 2015 1:28 PM - donhuevo: for some reason, it was a quote that stuck with me
    May 28, 2015 1:34 PM - bamhm182: I never saw it
May 28, 2015 1:36 PM - donhuevo: you haven't seen Mr. Mom? Michael Keaton? Kenny's woobie?
    May 28, 2015 1:37 PM - bamhm182: Nope
    May 28, 2015 1:38 PM - bamhm182: Came out 9 years before I did
    May 28, 2015 1:38 PM - donhuevo: no excuse
May 28, 2015 1:39 PM - bamhm182: Sounds like I need to go watch it then
May 28, 2015 1:40 PM - Mike Glass: Don, admit it you were sweet on teri garr
May 28, 2015 1:41 PM - donhuevo: not as much as Melanie Griffith
May 28, 2015 1:41 PM - Mike Glass: ahaha true
May 28, 2015 1:41 PM - bamhm182: So I had this Galaxy Note II with Sprint, and I got a Google Fi invite. The Note II worked perfectly fine up until like an hour before I received my Google Fi SIM card. Just continuously reboots with no chance of staying on
    May 28, 2015 1:41 PM - bamhm182: Weird timing
    May 28, 2015 1:41 PM - donhuevo: a computer with a sixth sense?
    May 28, 2015 1:42 PM - bamhm182: Looks like it
May 28, 2015 1:44 PM - donhuevo: tell it it doesn't have to leave it's friends and move to a new network. maybe that'll work
    May 28, 2015 1:44 PM - bamhm182: Missed saying I bought a Nexus 6 for Google Fi
May 28, 2015 1:44 PM - bamhm182: It just kind of went "Nope, he got a new phone, screw it, I quit!"
May 28, 2015 1:45 PM - donhuevo: that just ruins the whole joke

May 28, 2015 1:47 PM - bamhm182: On the plus side, it let me flash TWRP Recovery, so I'm able to get everything off my phone. Going to try reflashing the stock rom once I get everything off of it and see what happens
    May 28, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: #androids
    May 28, 2015 1:51 PM - Mike Kelly: they're like angsty teenagers
    May 28, 2015 1:53 PM - bamhm182: Haha
May 28, 2015 2:06 PM - bamhm182: So apparently Cox just recently upped their bandwidth caps
May 28, 2015 2:07 PM - bamhm182: The roommate and I decided to go with their 150 MB/s plan when we moved into our current place and for the longest time, it was capped at 500 GB, but now we've got 2,000 GB to play with
May 28, 2015 2:15 PM - Mike Glass: you have dual fiber to the house?
    May 28, 2015 2:19 PM - bamhm182: No
    May 28, 2015 2:19 PM - bamhm182: Do you?
May 28, 2015 2:21 PM - Mike Glass: how do you get 2000GB then
    May 28, 2015 2:21 PM - bamhm182: 2,000 GB bandwidth cap
    May 28, 2015 2:21 PM - bamhm182: Should have written that better
May 28, 2015 2:21 PM - Mike Glass: oh the actual data
    May 28, 2015 2:21 PM - bamhm182: So I've got 2000 GB download/upload, at 150 MB/s
May 28, 2015 2:22 PM - Mike Glass: at 150mb that wouldnt take to long I guess..
    May 28, 2015 2:22 PM - bamhm182: 2,000 GB/s would be INSANE, haha
May 28, 2015 2:22 PM - Mike Glass: 2 Tb is not that much
May 28, 2015 2:23 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, it wasn't entirely uncommon that we would be over the bandwidth usage when it was at 500 GB
    May 28, 2015 2:23 PM - bamhm182: No, but it's more than 0.5 TB, so I'll take it
May 28, 2015 2:24 PM - Mike Glass: I wouldnt complain, specially at that speed, I can only get 65mb where I live
May 28, 2015 2:26 PM - bamhm182: For a few years until we moved in here, we were lucky if we could get around 10 mb/s
    May 28, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Glass: I was at 8 just a few months ago
    May 28, 2015 2:31 PM - jbigler1986: I want Google fiber
    May 28, 2015 2:31 PM - bamhm182: Right?
    May 28, 2015 2:31 PM - jbigler1986: 1gb/s yes please
    May 28, 2015 2:31 PM - bamhm182: Only reason I'd move to Kansas, haha
May 28, 2015 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: Even though most hard drives can't even write that fast
May 28, 2015 2:32 PM - donhuevo: that's where the first nuclear bomb will hit
    May 28, 2015 2:33 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/84601710/ oh man
May 28, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Kelly: i can't believe that truck driver was gonna tell him off
May 28, 2015 2:35 PM - Mike Kelly: "i've got kids in there" well maybe you shouldn't be driving on the wrong side of the road
May 28, 2015 2:37 PM - donhuevo: where'd that other biker come from?
May 28, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: he was following him
May 28, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: pulls over after the near miss
    May 28, 2015 2:39 PM - donhuevo: I hate people
    May 28, 2015 2:39 PM - Mike Kelly: agreed
May 28, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Glass: asses, I remember those days of riding Motorcycles, had many encounters like that. Mostly dented doors
    May 28, 2015 2:40 PM - bamhm182: I was unaware ebaumsworld still existed
May 28, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Kelly: it's mostly click bait these days
May 28, 2015 2:41 PM - donhuevo: you won't catch me on a motorcycle. Not these days
May 28, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i want one but it's not worth the risk really
May 28, 2015 2:42 PM - Mike Glass: this is the one I like. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/84288710/
May 28, 2015 2:42 PM - donhuevo: can't tell you how many cops I've seen texting and driving
May 28, 2015 2:43 PM - Mike Glass: its actually a crime here
    May 28, 2015 2:45 PM - bamhm182: As well it should be
May 28, 2015 2:47 PM - Mike Glass: but so is talking on a cell phone in the city limits while driving.
May 28, 2015 2:47 PM - Mike Kelly: fricking power surge killed my print
    May 28, 2015 2:47 PM - donhuevo: PfnS
May 28, 2015 2:47 PM - Mike Glass: UPfnS dude
May 28, 2015 2:48 PM - bamhm182: How long was your print going?

May 28, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: that russian chick is boss
May 28, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Kelly: until she does it to the wrong person and ends up in a ditch
    May 28, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, haha
May 28, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: Seems like that would be easy to do in Russia
    May 28, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
May 28, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: scary place
May 28, 2015 2:51 PM - bamhm182: *Terrible Russian Accent* They will BREAK you!
May 28, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: and another surge
May 28, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Kelly: wtf is happening
May 28, 2015 2:55 PM - donhuevo: skynet. computers becoming sentient
May 28, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: man i shouldn't have told my president i could send him pictures today
May 28, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i hate when he's like "just make it simple but add all the bells and whistles"
May 28, 2015 2:56 PM - Stephen Capistron: we are about to get a T-storm so the most i will be doing is slicing some stuff
    May 28, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: uh i can't do both
May 28, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: it's nice out actually, i think our tech's are doing something
May 28, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i run off a UPS at home for this reason
May 28, 2015 2:57 PM - Stephen Capistron: Better or worse than, do what ever you want. Oh but don't do that thing you just spent hours on.
May 28, 2015 3:00 PM - bamhm182: What's also great is when they tell you exactly what they want, you do exactly what they want, and then they get mad when it's not exactly what they expected
May 28, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Glass: perception is only in the mind of the beholder
May 28, 2015 3:01 PM - bamhm182: "Go do this directory, tar and ftp the files in this folder" Easy, done. "There should be more, what did you do wrong?"
May 28, 2015 3:02 PM - donhuevo: some of these are really funny... http://www.ebaumsworld.com/pictures/view/84438879/
May 28, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah he seems to think everything is simpler than it really is
May 28, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: he has our PHD chemists trying to design an air dehydrator using an air blower
May 28, 2015 3:05 PM - bamhm182: Haha, Canada is really just a figment of our imagination, no way there's anything connecting Alaska to us
May 28, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: and they really have no idea what they're doing
May 28, 2015 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: i thought alaska was an island, that's how it looks in all our maps...
May 28, 2015 3:06 PM - bamhm182: One thing that surprised me way back when I looked at a world map was how far Hawaii was, all the maps I'd seen up until that point had it in a little box off to the left, so I figured it was pretty close
May 28, 2015 3:06 PM - Mike Kelly: haha that's actually what she said
    May 28, 2015 3:07 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    May 28, 2015 3:07 PM - bamhm182: I always saw ones like that
May 28, 2015 3:07 PM - bamhm182: But I can see how someone would think that given maps like these
May 28, 2015 3:07 PM - donhuevo: yep, Hawaii is in the middle of a lake in the middle of Mexico
    May 28, 2015 3:07 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
    May 28, 2015 3:07 PM - bamhm182: Haha
    May 28, 2015 3:08 PM - bamhm182: No, mexico doesn't exist either
May 28, 2015 3:08 PM - bamhm182: All the mexicans actually live in Alaska
    May 28, 2015 3:09 PM - jbigler1986: [imghttp://i.imgur.com/pGawdACh.jpg[/img]
May 28, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: also the horrible scale given to alaska
May 28, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: alaska is fucking HUGE yet it's always made smaller than texas
    May 28, 2015 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
May 28, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: *checks map* *MADE IN TEXAS"
    May 28, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: ahhh
May 28, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Kelly: nozzle holder got an upgrade eh
May 28, 2015 3:11 PM - Stephen Capistron: juneau you can't drive to Juneau
    May 28, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: does a ferry count?
    May 28, 2015 3:12 PM - bamhm182: Looks good, jb

May 28, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Kelly: the 2 are in use by the controllers, kinda important they stay online

May 28, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: but my computer hasn't actually shut off yet
May 28, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i probably should put the rep2x on a surge protector though
    May 28, 2015 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: At least
May 28, 2015 3:24 PM - donhuevo: where are you guys buying your replacement batteries from?
May 28, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: holy jesus it's hot in my office
    May 28, 2015 3:27 PM - jbigler1986: What kind of batteries
May 28, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: it was 76 at the front desk and no one cared to turn on the AC
May 28, 2015 3:27 PM - donhuevo: UPS replacement batteries
May 28, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: must be at least 85 in here
May 28, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: never bought one
May 28, 2015 3:28 PM - donhuevo: you just replace the whole thing?
May 28, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: my ups is still on it's first one
    May 28, 2015 3:29 PM - donhuevo: for future reference... http://www.batterymart.com/c-replacement-ups-batteries.html
    May 28, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Kelly: nice
May 28, 2015 3:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i really don't want to waste my time sending my president stupid pictures
May 28, 2015 3:32 PM - donhuevo: what about just using the snipping tool
    May 28, 2015 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: oh i'm gonna
    May 28, 2015 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: but it's just dumb
May 28, 2015 3:33 PM - Mike Kelly: waste my time sending pictures so he can not sell anything
May 28, 2015 3:33 PM - Stephen Capistron: i'm embarrassed to say i only discovered snipping within the last year.
May 28, 2015 3:33 PM - donhuevo: slip a couple vacation pics somewhere in the middle
May 28, 2015 3:33 PM - Stephen Capistron: is now pinned to my task bar
May 28, 2015 3:33 PM - Mike Kelly: as long as you're not taking a photograph of your screen
May 28, 2015 3:33 PM - Mike Kelly: i can't stand people who do that
    May 28, 2015 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: Lol don
May 28, 2015 3:34 PM - donhuevo: shame on you Stephen. I'm gonna print a ruler to crack you across the knuckles with
May 28, 2015 3:35 PM - Stephen Capistron: I always did print screen and crop in mspaint
May 28, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: that's still useful if you need to show your cursor
May 28, 2015 3:35 PM - donhuevo: yep. painful process
    May 28, 2015 3:36 PM - Stephen Capistron: http://imgur.com/2zqje0V
May 28, 2015 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: OW MY EYES
May 28, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: why are the pictures in B&W?
May 28, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: also is anyone else using the dark theme?
    May 28, 2015 3:39 PM - jbigler1986: Forgot about that
May 28, 2015 3:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: dark theme?
    May 28, 2015 3:40 PM - donhuevo: oooh, I like it
    May 28, 2015 3:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: i'm blind
    May 28, 2015 3:40 PM - donhuevo: shady
May 28, 2015 3:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: can someone printscreen this for me?
May 28, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Kelly: at the bottom where it says ROBO 3d
    May 28, 2015 3:41 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
    May 28, 2015 3:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: omg
May 28, 2015 3:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: makes MK harder to read, but that is probably for the best :p
May 28, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i had a hard time deciding what color to use
May 28, 2015 3:42 PM - Mike Kelly: seems like it's good for one not the other
    May 28, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: I'll go green
    May 28, 2015 3:43 PM - Stephen Capistron: hippy
    May 28, 2015 3:43 PM - Mike Kelly: that's actually not bad
    May 28, 2015 3:43 PM - donhuevo: legible
May 28, 2015 3:44 PM - Mike Kelly: my boss flipped shit when he thought our fermentation CO2 capture system might be advertised as being "green"
    May 28, 2015 3:44 PM - Mike Kelly: he's weird
May 28, 2015 3:44 PM - donhuevo: 'green' is so last year
May 28, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Kelly: this was last year
May 28, 2015 3:47 PM - donhuevo: this definitely makes all you bastards more bearable
May 28, 2015 3:48 PM - Mike Kelly: whiskey helps as well
May 28, 2015 3:49 PM - donhuevo: just happen to have some Jim Beam I was saving for a bourbon sauce
May 28, 2015 3:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: the color combo at the bottom is a little rough, but the chat is easy to read
    May 28, 2015 3:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: [IMG]
May 28, 2015 3:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: that's about what jim beam is for
    May 28, 2015 3:50 PM - jbigler1986: Jim Beam black is good
    May 28, 2015 3:50 PM - jbigler1986: Not a fan of the original
May 28, 2015 3:51 PM - Stephen Capistron: Someone gave me some of those whiskey elements sticks that I need to try on some bourbon. I just don't have anything in the house i want to commit to that kind of experiment
May 28, 2015 3:51 PM - donhuevo: there's an Asian Chao in the food court at the mall... always giving away bourbon chicken
May 28, 2015 3:51 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah stephen the theme is weird on what it assigns color to
May 28, 2015 3:52 PM - Stephen Capistron: asian chao /= bourbon chicken
    May 28, 2015 3:52 PM - jbigler1986: Ur weird
May 28, 2015 3:53 PM - jbigler1986: Are there any better 3d printer forums out there? Can't be
May 28, 2015 3:53 PM - donhuevo: Sarku on the other side
May 28, 2015 3:53 PM - Mike Kelly: the reprap forums is pretty active
    May 28, 2015 3:53 PM - donhuevo: I wonder if I have a jackass counterpart over there
May 28, 2015 3:53 PM - donhuevo: like an alternate universe me
May 28, 2015 3:55 PM - Stephen Capistron: Like Fringe
    May 28, 2015 3:55 PM - donhuevo: I miss Fringe
    May 28, 2015 3:55 PM - donhuevo: Walternate
    May 28, 2015 4:10 PM - bamhm182: Back
May 28, 2015 4:12 PM - bamhm182: Reading back through posts as usual, the snipping tool is pretty awesome, I just wish it was as integrated as Apple's screenshot tools are
    May 28, 2015 4:12 PM - bamhm182: I also JUST learned about it
    May 28, 2015 4:13 PM - jbigler1986: I use snipping tool daily
May 28, 2015 4:14 PM - jbigler1986: I use dual monitors at work so print screen is annoying at times
May 28, 2015 4:15 PM - bamhm182: I used to drink a lot of Jack, but then I started being cheap and went to Evans, then I remembered I don't hate myself and met in the middle with Jim
May 28, 2015 4:15 PM - bamhm182: They had a rebate back in Feb where you would get $50 back if you bought 6 bottles of Jim, so I tried all their flavors, their Maple one is pretty good, but I usually just go with Classic Jim
    May 28, 2015 4:16 PM - bamhm182: I can see print screen getting annoying
May 28, 2015 4:18 PM - Mike Kelly: Apple screenshot tool is amazing
May 28, 2015 4:18 PM - bamhm182: I just remembered that when I was at the convention the other day, they had a 3D Printing booth, so I went to go check it out and was talking with one of the guys working it for a while and then told him how I bought a Robo3D last October and I felt a total shift of mood. Then it occurred to me that I basically went to a Samsung booth and told them I just bought an iPhone
    May 28, 2015 4:18 PM - bamhm182: Yeah it is
May 28, 2015 4:19 PM - Mike Kelly: Especially with cloudapp
    May 28, 2015 4:20 PM - bamhm182: Don't know of cloudapp
    May 28, 2015 4:20 PM - bamhm182: That is pretty sweet
May 28, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Kelly: Cmd+shift+4, take screenshot, cloudapp automatically uploads in and puts the link on your clipboard
    May 28, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Kelly: It's free

    May 28, 2015 4:31 PM - bamhm182: http://3dprint.com/68906/peachy-printer/
May 28, 2015 4:35 PM - bamhm182: Looks pretty cool, and for $100, there's not much of a risk in trying it out
    May 28, 2015 4:44 PM - jbigler1986: That's 4 spools of filament. Lol
    May 28, 2015 4:45 PM - bamhm182: That's a good point
May 28, 2015 4:45 PM - donhuevo: how much does the goop cost
    May 28, 2015 4:45 PM - bamhm182: No idea
    May 28, 2015 4:46 PM - bamhm182: Looks like directly from them, it's $60 a liter
May 28, 2015 4:47 PM - bamhm182: I have no idea how long a liter would last compared to 2 spools
    May 28, 2015 4:47 PM - bamhm182: Hell, that'd be 3 spools with shipping
    May 28, 2015 4:48 PM - bamhm182: http://www.peachyprinter.com/#!printer-specs/c1gk6
May 28, 2015 4:48 PM - Stephen Capistron: that is almost on par with an ink jet printer
May 28, 2015 4:48 PM - bamhm182: The resin is definitely more expensive than filament
May 28, 2015 4:48 PM - bamhm182: Plus it looks like it expires
May 28, 2015 4:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: almost cheaper to buy a new printer vs new ink
May 28, 2015 4:50 PM - donhuevo: it would make for a great party trick though
    May 28, 2015 4:50 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
May 28, 2015 4:51 PM - donhuevo: watch this laser turn that liquid into a dildo
    May 28, 2015 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: Bam that's 4 spools of hatchbox filament
May 28, 2015 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: Gonna test this translucent black tonight
    May 28, 2015 4:54 PM - jbigler1986: Anybody printing anything good?
May 28, 2015 4:55 PM - donhuevo: I'm still working on pieces for my airtight spool system
May 28, 2015 4:55 PM - jbigler1986: Is the filament going to be feeding from it
    May 28, 2015 4:55 PM - donhuevo: yep
May 28, 2015 4:56 PM - jbigler1986: How are you gonna manage that to be airtight
May 28, 2015 4:56 PM - donhuevo: it won't be airtight while printing but the filament will be in ptfe almost the entire way
May 28, 2015 4:57 PM - jbigler1986: Gotcha. I need to order some more ptfe
    May 28, 2015 4:57 PM - jbigler1986: Fry's actually has some but it's to small
    May 28, 2015 4:57 PM - jbigler1986: Diameter that is
    May 28, 2015 4:58 PM - bamhm182: This phone is completely FUBAR

    May 28, 2015 4:58 PM - jbigler1986: What kind
    May 28, 2015 4:58 PM - bamhm182: But no prime. :O
    May 28, 2015 4:59 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I got 5 feet for like $12
    May 28, 2015 4:59 PM - jbigler1986: On Amazon prime
May 28, 2015 4:59 PM - bamhm182: Galaxy Note II, it was shutting off every time I would shut the screen. Flashed TWRP recovery on it and it let me pull everything off of it onto my microSD, but then I tried reflashing the firmware and now TWRP isn't launching and my computer quit recognizing the phone
    May 28, 2015 4:59 PM - donhuevo: that works
May 28, 2015 5:00 PM - donhuevo: not the phone, the amazon prime
    May 28, 2015 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: Nevermind. It was $17
    May 28, 2015 5:01 PM - donhuevo: but you'll have it in 2 days
    May 28, 2015 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: True. Or next day
    May 28, 2015 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: Hell sometimes even same day

May 28, 2015 5:02 PM - bamhm182: That the stuff you bought, jb?
    May 28, 2015 5:02 PM - jbigler1986: That's it
    May 28, 2015 5:03 PM - bamhm182: I should probably bookmark that
May 28, 2015 5:21 PM - Printed Solid: I get antsy buying PTFE tube from unknown sources. So many people unscrupulous sellers will say PTFE when it's really some other fluoropolymer that isn't has high temp.

    May 28, 2015 5:28 PM - Stephen Capistron: 2.50/ft off mcmaster
May 28, 2015 5:29 PM - Printed Solid: and how much for shipping? that makes me crazy about mcmaster. Great for at work, but on my own dime?
May 28, 2015 5:31 PM - Printed Solid: I can't understand web based biz these days not giving shipping prices. I just bought a glass plate for $16 from a similar outfit and ended up paying close to $40 after shipping and some other fees they decided to add.
May 28, 2015 5:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: its like ticketmaster
May 28, 2015 5:32 PM - Printed Solid: yeah, but doesn't ticketmaster at least tell you how much they're adding before you pay?
May 28, 2015 5:32 PM - Printed Solid: mcmaster you order, then get a bill for the shipping.
May 28, 2015 5:38 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, that drives me crazy too
    May 28, 2015 5:57 PM - jbigler1986: Hello Printed
May 28, 2015 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: Have your stuff boxed up and ready to go.
May 28, 2015 5:58 PM - jbigler1986: I will drop it off in the morning. Kept forgetting
May 28, 2015 6:01 PM - jbigler1986: Holy hell. $24 for shipping. That's ridiculous. I like to get my shipping quote when checking out. It's not like it's hard to implement it into your website
May 28, 2015 6:05 PM - Mike Glass: Jb what ya printing
May 28, 2015 6:06 PM - Mike Glass: bamhm you buying a peachy?
May 28, 2015 6:06 PM - Mike Glass: Mk should get one to go with his Tiko.
May 28, 2015 6:06 PM - Stephen Capistron: jb might be moving closer to indianapolis http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=br_imp_...rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2096988462&pf_rd_i=desktop
May 28, 2015 6:07 PM - jbigler1986: Parts for work again. They wanted 3 more. Using the translucent black
May 28, 2015 6:07 PM - Mike Kelly: I have enough prints that look like poo. I don't need a peachy
    May 28, 2015 6:08 PM - jbigler1986: MC I live like 15/20 minutes from Indianapolis
    May 28, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Glass: MC or SC..lol
May 28, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Glass: MK or MG
    May 28, 2015 6:10 PM - jbigler1986: Haha. Meant SC
May 28, 2015 6:12 PM - Stephen Capistron: you got same day shipping availability?
May 28, 2015 6:12 PM - Mike Kelly: He lives like 2 hours from their warehouse
    May 28, 2015 6:14 PM - Stephen Capistron:
May 28, 2015 6:15 PM - Mike Glass: Thats why I dont like plastic cars
May 28, 2015 6:39 PM - jbigler1986: There is a huge warehouse in Louisville which is like 3 hours away and then one in whitestown which is like an hour away
May 28, 2015 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: That was dumb to drive through the middle of them to begin with
May 28, 2015 6:56 PM - bamhm182: Stepped off for a minute. MG, probably not going to buy a peachy, I just thought it was cool. Pretty cheap for someone wanting to check out printing without dropping a lot of cash
May 28, 2015 6:58 PM - bamhm182: That car got screwed up and the sheep what just like "Whaaatever, back to fighting!"
May 28, 2015 7:09 PM - bamhm182: Might end up moving my Mac Mini into the garage. I can't get the Xbox Kinect to work to save my life on my PC, but yet it works right off the bat on the Mac
    May 28, 2015 7:15 PM - jbigler1986: Go figure
May 28, 2015 7:17 PM - Mike Glass: works fine on my windows 7 laptop, havent tried it on the windows 8 one.
    May 28, 2015 7:20 PM - jbigler1986: He is using Windows 10 I believe
    May 28, 2015 7:25 PM - bamhm182: I am, but I've also got a Windows 7 hard drive that it doesn't play nice with
May 28, 2015 7:25 PM - bamhm182: I think it might have something to do with the chipset, but I honestly have absolutely no idea
May 28, 2015 7:27 PM - Mike Glass: one more piece to go for the spherebot
May 28, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: think I got a bearing going out on my x axis
May 28, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i couldn't figure out what was wrong with my wiring: http://i.imgur.com/db8VgeE.jpg
May 28, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Kelly: moral of the story, never trust anyone elses wiring: http://i.imgur.com/WccOjeM.jpg
May 28, 2015 7:47 PM - bamhm182: The red and the black are switched on one of them?

    May 28, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
May 28, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: didn't even think to check the before soldering
    May 28, 2015 7:48 PM - bamhm182: Haha, what the hell
May 28, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Kelly: now i need to figure out how to get these damn pins out
May 28, 2015 7:49 PM - Mike Glass: are they jst

May 28, 2015 7:51 PM - Mike Glass: hah I was wondering why my robo was on crack just looked at the lcd it was at 136%..I checked it before I print..hmm
May 28, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly: and both pins out

    May 28, 2015 9:29 PM - BryZad: hey mike G
May 28, 2015 9:29 PM - BryZad: I have a question any ideas why the out shell layers would curl up on my prints?
    May 28, 2015 9:30 PM - BryZad: to hot ?
May 28, 2015 9:31 PM - Mike Glass: what up bry
May 28, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Glass: yea usually to hot is curling
    May 28, 2015 9:32 PM - BryZad: i am printing gray pla at 205
    May 28, 2015 9:32 PM - BryZad: what you think 195?
May 28, 2015 9:32 PM - Mike Glass: how big is the part?
    May 28, 2015 9:33 PM - BryZad: 1in by 1in sq
    May 28, 2015 9:33 PM - BryZad: rough
May 28, 2015 9:33 PM - Mike Glass: yea thats a small part, I would be under 200
May 28, 2015 9:34 PM - Mike Glass: do you have dual fans?\
May 28, 2015 9:34 PM - BryZad: nope i dont and i dont have a fan duct either
May 28, 2015 9:35 PM - Mike Glass: dual fans would really help and improve your prints
May 28, 2015 9:36 PM - BryZad: looks like i will be looking into another fan
May 28, 2015 9:39 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002OFL1J8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 these are the ones I got
May 28, 2015 9:40 PM - BryZad: is the third pin speed control ?
May 28, 2015 9:42 PM - Mike Glass: sensor, but its not used
    May 28, 2015 9:42 PM - Mike Glass: speed sensor I believe
May 28, 2015 9:43 PM - BryZad: you just hot wire them into the fan circuit
May 28, 2015 9:43 PM - Mike Glass: yep existing fan wires
    May 28, 2015 9:51 PM - BryZad: hmmm
    May 28, 2015 9:51 PM - BryZad: i guess 195 is still to hot
May 28, 2015 9:54 PM - toy: hmm how about servo switching dual bondtechs in direct drive ( 1 planetary stepper)?
May 28, 2015 9:59 PM - BryZad: Wow this is making me mad that the edges wont stay flat
May 28, 2015 9:59 PM - BryZad: does it make a difrence on shell thickness?
    May 29, 2015 3:14 AM - jbigler1986: Morning fellas
    May 29, 2015 3:54 AM - Bill Monroe: Bueno
    May 29, 2015 4:14 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
May 29, 2015 4:27 AM - daniel871: Just saw the thread about 3DLAC, but apparently it can't be bought within the US.
May 29, 2015 4:28 AM - jbigler1986: How did the ones from yesterday turn out
May 29, 2015 4:28 AM - daniel871: You talking to me or Bill?
    May 29, 2015 4:28 AM - jbigler1986: Bill
May 29, 2015 4:29 AM - daniel871: Chess set was still printing when I left the house this morning.
    May 29, 2015 4:29 AM - jbigler1986: http://m.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
May 29, 2015 4:29 AM - Bill Monroe: they worked fine but it occured to me that since the machine is awesome now and it prints the benchy fine, I could probably do away with supports for this part, then not need the raft so, test time
May 29, 2015 4:29 AM - Bill Monroe: Hi Daniel
    May 29, 2015 4:30 AM - daniel871: Hey Bill.
May 29, 2015 4:30 AM - daniel871: Oooh, you're printing that vase thing I was printing with T-glase back when I first got the R1.
    May 29, 2015 4:31 AM - daniel871: jb.
    May 29, 2015 4:31 AM - daniel871: Is that still PLA you're using?
    May 29, 2015 4:32 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Translucent black
May 29, 2015 4:33 AM - daniel871: Like the new camera mount position.
May 29, 2015 4:33 AM - daniel871: (from the last time I watched any way)
    May 29, 2015 4:35 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I made a new mount
    May 29, 2015 4:50 AM - Bill Monroe: int test(noSupports, noRaft) { return(success); }
May 29, 2015 4:58 AM - Stephen Capistron: what material? what shape / part?
May 29, 2015 5:00 AM - jbigler1986: so vase mode in s3d would have left a few gaps in the vase if i printed using that setting. weird
May 29, 2015 5:01 AM - Stephen Capistron: with thin stuff it is great to look at the tool path for stuff like that. Does it have a spiral mode?
May 29, 2015 5:02 AM - jbigler1986: it's called something else. i printed it regular except for 0 top layers. wasn't missing anything that way.
May 29, 2015 5:03 AM - jbigler1986: lets see what i can order same day amazon shipping since its available in my area
May 29, 2015 5:04 AM - Stephen Capistron: I like to opt into the slower delivery for the 1$ digital media credit
    May 29, 2015 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: i like stuff as soon as possible
    May 29, 2015 5:05 AM - jbigler1986: 5.99 for same day or 4.99 for tomorrow. hmmm
May 29, 2015 5:07 AM - JeffTheMess: Good Friday morning Roboneers
May 29, 2015 5:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: hmmm i'm not sure about that
May 29, 2015 5:08 AM - Stephen Capistron: I'm still upset that Google express did not make it to my zip code. it stopped one area short
May 29, 2015 5:08 AM - JeffTheMess: Best thing about three day weekend is a four day work week
May 29, 2015 5:11 AM - JeffTheMess: I have a theoretically question (I may know the answer to), If I were printing two flat circles that cover all of the build area; can I place one on the bed and have the second hover over it with support to print both at the same time(kind of)?
May 29, 2015 5:13 AM - jbigler1986: You could but you would have to place support under one to raise it and print support on top of the other one
May 29, 2015 5:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: like [IMG]
May 29, 2015 5:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: yeah, you'd just have to deal with the support
May 29, 2015 5:14 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, I figured that would be the best way
May 29, 2015 5:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: Makes me think you could just load up the whole build space staking all sorts of random objects in there. click auto-generate support. Wait a week for it to slice. then print :)
May 29, 2015 5:15 AM - jbigler1986: But with s3d support being amazing it wouldn't be that bad
May 29, 2015 5:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: that is a crepe cake for those interested
May 29, 2015 5:15 AM - JeffTheMess: lol... would be theoretically possible to do that
May 29, 2015 5:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: i might finally break down and get S3D. The craftware support is underwhelming
May 29, 2015 5:16 AM - JeffTheMess: (Just not so practically)
    May 29, 2015 5:16 AM - jbigler1986: Damnit. Why doesn't anyone have gold available
    May 29, 2015 5:16 AM - JeffTheMess: (DO IT)
    May 29, 2015 5:16 AM - jbigler1986: I can hook you up with s3d
May 29, 2015 5:16 AM - Stephen Capistron: like bullion?
    May 29, 2015 5:16 AM - jbigler1986: Gold pla
    May 29, 2015 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.bumatusa.com/products/bumat-elite-gold-pla-filament-1-75mm-2-2-lbs/
    May 29, 2015 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.amazon.com/HATCHBOX-1-75...=UTF8&qid=1432901935&sr=8-1&keywords=gold+pla
May 29, 2015 5:19 AM - JeffTheMess: or are you want gold dust mixed with pla
May 29, 2015 5:21 AM - Stephen Capistron: New from colorfabb, pewter fill
    May 29, 2015 5:21 AM - jbigler1986: ha. overlooked that
May 29, 2015 5:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: If the support is as good as you claim I have no problems buying S3D
May 29, 2015 5:22 AM - JeffTheMess: it really is...and this is coming from a noob
    May 29, 2015 5:23 AM - jbigler1986: it's pretty amazing
    May 29, 2015 5:23 AM - jbigler1986: i rarely use anything else
    May 29, 2015 5:24 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
May 29, 2015 5:24 AM - daniel871: I've been using S3D because it's the only software that has reliably generated a program that will print and finish without fucking up.
May 29, 2015 5:25 AM - daniel871: Though Cura may be my fault through setup, and Matter Control is, well, Matter Control, so YMMV.
May 29, 2015 5:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: I've had good luck with all the reliable free options (cura, repetier, craftware)
    May 29, 2015 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: slicing is awesome is s3d
May 29, 2015 5:26 AM - jbigler1986: printing different parts with different settings at the same time is amazing too
    May 29, 2015 5:26 AM - daniel871: Haven't gone that far, JB.
    May 29, 2015 5:27 AM - jbigler1986: it's easy to do
    May 29, 2015 5:27 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
May 29, 2015 5:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: I think I am going to have to tweak my setup in the basement so i have room for a mouse next to my laptop
May 29, 2015 5:28 AM - JeffTheMess: looks good jb
    May 29, 2015 5:29 AM - jbigler1986: 80mm/s. only 3 hours
May 29, 2015 5:29 AM - JeffTheMess: jeez you your cramped that much SC?
