Jun 26, 2015 9:09 AM - daniel871: Maybe I should hold off then, because that's kind of the end goal for what I'd like to do. Going Bowden seems like a lot of trouble and I'm generally happy with the Wade, I'd just like it to be easier to take the hotend out if I want to swap between the volcano/v6 whenever I get around to actually doing small nozzle stuff that needs it (which may never actually happen, but you know).
Jun 26, 2015 9:10 AM - daniel871: Hinge out -> open clamp -> remove hotend if it's possible to have that much room.
Jun 26, 2015 9:11 AM - daniel871: Though that may screw up the wade body itself b/c of the PTFE tubing that feeds up through it.
Jun 26, 2015 9:11 AM - donhuevo: this is an old design I did but may be another possibility for you... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:343995
    Jun 26, 2015 9:11 AM - donhuevo: designed around the v5
    Jun 26, 2015 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: boom
Jun 26, 2015 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah why were you asking if I liked the carriage? thinking about a new one?
    Jun 26, 2015 9:38 AM - jbigler1986: I like to be MK's tester
Jun 26, 2015 9:53 AM - Stephen Capistron: anyone ever do any work as a contractor under a 1099?
    Jun 26, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: not i
Jun 26, 2015 9:54 AM - donhuevo: long time ago
Jun 26, 2015 9:57 AM - Stephen Capistron: Wondering how much of a pain it is tax and accounting wise
Jun 26, 2015 9:57 AM - donhuevo: it's not if you use one of the software packages to do your taxes. At some point during the 'interview' you get the opportunity to enter 1099's.
Jun 26, 2015 9:58 AM - donhuevo: bill accordingly though
Jun 26, 2015 10:00 AM - Stephen Capistron: Yeah, I've been looking up what rates I should be billing at
Jun 26, 2015 10:03 AM - donhuevo: think about how hospitals bill when deciding
Jun 26, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: the taxes aren't too bad really
Jun 26, 2015 10:03 AM - Stephen Capistron: Insurance is through my better half
Jun 26, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: if you figure out rates let me know...
    Jun 26, 2015 10:05 AM - donhuevo: when I say hospitals I mean a dollar a bandaid etc
    Jun 26, 2015 10:05 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/plane-battling-southern-california-fire-grounded-by-drone-officials-say/
    Jun 26, 2015 10:10 AM - jbigler1986: that's shitty
Jun 26, 2015 10:11 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, they need to start doing safety and law testing to buy drones
    Jun 26, 2015 10:12 AM - jbigler1986: how are you doing

Jun 26, 2015 10:17 AM - Stephen Capistron: legalize / authorize drone missile defence?
Jun 26, 2015 10:18 AM - Bill Monroe: i like that stephen but it woul dbe hard to implement.. the truth is right now, it's not technically illegal to attack a drone
Jun 26, 2015 10:18 AM - donhuevo: missile misses drone, hits forest, starts fire
Jun 26, 2015 10:19 AM - Bill Monroe: you cant willfully cuase damage to another's property
Jun 26, 2015 10:19 AM - Bill Monroe: who said anthing about a missle?
Jun 26, 2015 10:19 AM - Bill Monroe: lots ove ham operators (including myself) have the tools needed to take out a drone already
    Jun 26, 2015 10:20 AM - Bill Monroe: a hoppy drone anyway
    Jun 26, 2015 10:20 AM - Bill Monroe: hobby
Jun 26, 2015 10:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: I like that but no explosion is no fun

Jun 26, 2015 11:03 AM - Stephen Capistron: Thankfully the driver is fine, but the car is a little worse for the wear
Jun 26, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: we're talking about going down to pikes peak on sunday
Jun 26, 2015 11:12 AM - jbigler1986: its so relaxing going up there
    Jun 26, 2015 11:12 AM - jbigler1986: beautiful views
Jun 26, 2015 11:12 AM - Mike Kelly: plus races!
Jun 26, 2015 11:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: I love that the two favorites are driving electric cars from Latvia and Croatia
    Jun 26, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Kelly: it's really smart imo
Jun 26, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh i need to go tinker with my printer but i'm struggling to find the motivation
Jun 26, 2015 11:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: And there is some dude in a 911 that is also in the top group
Jun 26, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Kelly: that damn thermistor
Jun 26, 2015 11:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: The Latvian one has 6 motors
    Jun 26, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Kelly: wait, 6?
Jun 26, 2015 11:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: thermocouple, do it
    Jun 26, 2015 11:14 AM - Stephen Capistron: Yes, 6

Jun 26, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: they must be geared on the rear axle
Jun 26, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: so 2 in front, 4 in the back
Jun 26, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: is how i'd do it
Jun 26, 2015 11:14 AM - Mike Kelly: put the batteries in the front to balance the weight
Jun 26, 2015 11:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: The only thing I can think is that 6 motors have a smaller diameter than 4 so it allows them to sit them a little lower in the chasis
    Jun 26, 2015 11:15 AM - jbigler1986: MK were you thinking a new carriage
Jun 26, 2015 11:15 AM - Mike Kelly: na i'm liking the current carriage design well enough
Jun 26, 2015 11:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: Mike wants to work on a real tool changer for his printer ;)
Jun 26, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Kelly: na that's for my CNC design ;)
Jun 26, 2015 11:18 AM - jbigler1986: i think i'm going to add some slits it in to lighten it even more
    Jun 26, 2015 11:19 AM - jbigler1986: then dip it in crome
    Jun 26, 2015 11:19 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Jun 26, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: chrome makes it go faster
Jun 26, 2015 11:20 AM - daniel871: Are there any deals on some good PLA for printing something that will actually look like an ivory-white type of print if I print a sculpture model?
    Jun 26, 2015 11:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: chrome?
Jun 26, 2015 11:20 AM - Stephen Capistron: gold flake or go home
    Jun 26, 2015 11:20 AM - daniel871: Or a recommended filament to get?

    Jun 26, 2015 11:26 AM - daniel871: Sheesh, $10 shipping on Amazon.
    Jun 26, 2015 11:26 AM - jbigler1986: only if it's white gold
Jun 26, 2015 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: buy from printed solid
Jun 26, 2015 11:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you are lucky he will have gummy bears again
Jun 26, 2015 11:28 AM - Bill Monroe: i got hatchbox from amazon same day delivery

    Jun 26, 2015 11:35 AM - daniel871: Hm.
    Jun 26, 2015 11:35 AM - daniel871: They don't make a good Gold colored filament, do they?
    Jun 26, 2015 11:36 AM - daniel871: Found this one. http://www.amazon.com/justpla-Gold-...35343500&sr=8-13&keywords=JustPLA+CHroma-line
Jun 26, 2015 11:36 AM - jbigler1986: not the same as actual gold

    Jun 26, 2015 11:48 AM - jbigler1986: i want real gold
    Jun 26, 2015 11:49 AM - jbigler1986: jk
Jun 26, 2015 11:55 AM - daniel871: My wallet hates you for those links, SC.
Jun 26, 2015 11:55 AM - daniel871: Only got the Olympic Gold and Shining Silver, but still.
    Jun 26, 2015 11:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: :D
    Jun 26, 2015 11:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: Anytime
Jun 26, 2015 11:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: MK is going to be buying a thermocouple board by the end of the day
Jun 26, 2015 11:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: so you will have company
Jun 26, 2015 12:02 PM - Stephen Capistron: Just need to enter my time here for the week and I am out of here :D
Jun 26, 2015 12:02 PM - donhuevo: I just got home. cut out early today
Jun 26, 2015 12:04 PM - Stephen Capistron: Next stop farmstand for the week's allotment of vegetables and then home for beer in the backyard with the hound
Jun 26, 2015 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: are you done for good or 2 weeks notice?
    Jun 26, 2015 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: I bet MK has bought that already
Jun 26, 2015 12:12 PM - daniel871: Some masterful trolling in this picture. [IMG]
Jun 26, 2015 12:13 PM - daniel871: Wrong flag altogether, but I'm not sure whether the person that posted it is being sincere or making fun of the people actually upset on either side.
    Jun 26, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: yeah wrong flag
Jun 26, 2015 12:15 PM - daniel871: What would make it truly epic is if the person driving thought they were flying the one the post is talking about.
Jun 26, 2015 12:15 PM - jbigler1986: assume the closest they could get
    Jun 26, 2015 12:15 PM - daniel871: Close enough!

    Jun 26, 2015 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: so dumb
Jun 26, 2015 12:16 PM - daniel871: Probably just an excuse to remove a buggy game that made their OS crash all the time.
Jun 26, 2015 12:17 PM - daniel871: Kind of like how the other retailers talking about removing the flag are just trying to get some inventory moving.
Jun 26, 2015 12:18 PM - daniel871: Because spite purchasing has been shown to drive some really high short-term profits on things.
Jun 26, 2015 12:19 PM - donhuevo: I've seen people flip the bird with the wrong finger
Jun 26, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Glass: No more dukes of hazard either, they probably going to take those off the air.
Jun 26, 2015 12:19 PM - daniel871: Eh. Depending on where they are from that probably still works, Don.
Jun 26, 2015 12:19 PM - donhuevo: why can't they just smear the flag like they do boobs
    Jun 26, 2015 12:20 PM - jbigler1986: ^
Jun 26, 2015 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: if you don't like the symbol then don't download stuff that has it. simple
Jun 26, 2015 12:22 PM - daniel871: I don't know, they could always do this and call it the "General Grant". [IMG]
Jun 26, 2015 12:22 PM - daniel871: Or the "General Sherman" for ultimate outrage.
    Jun 26, 2015 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: hey i don't like broccoli. so don't order food that has it
Jun 26, 2015 12:23 PM - daniel871: Because a symbol of racism and vegetables are remotely alike.
Jun 26, 2015 12:23 PM - donhuevo: to be fair though, if retailers want to remove all symbols of racism, they need to stop selling white sheets too
Jun 26, 2015 12:24 PM - daniel871: A provider of a service/product can pull whatever they want for any reason they want.
Jun 26, 2015 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: if you want to call it that go ahead daniel
Jun 26, 2015 12:24 PM - daniel871: Yeah, I do. The Cornerstone Speech leaves very little doubt what the whole thing was about.

Jun 26, 2015 12:27 PM - jbigler1986: go ahead and remove all FUBU products as well
    Jun 26, 2015 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: i'm not getting into this debate. it's not worth it
    Jun 26, 2015 12:31 PM - daniel871: You haven't made any arguments yet.
Jun 26, 2015 12:31 PM - daniel871: Also a great many retailers have already removed FUBU products from places where they aren't making any profit.
Jun 26, 2015 12:32 PM - donhuevo: don't you make me pull this chat over
    Jun 26, 2015 12:32 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Jun 26, 2015 12:32 PM - donhuevo: which reminds me...
    Jun 26, 2015 12:33 PM - donhuevo:
Jun 26, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: "A provider of a service/product can pull whatever they want for any reason they want." unless a contract states otherwise
    Jun 26, 2015 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: don are you building a new printer

Jun 26, 2015 12:39 PM - daniel871: Retailers can break contract with suppliers any time they want if they aren't selling enough of the product, that's standard boilerplate stipulations in any retailer's contract.

Jun 26, 2015 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: well they usually already buy the product in bulk order. so the purchase would have already been done. if they want to eat the loss that is on them
Jun 26, 2015 12:43 PM - daniel871: Are you going to have Z-movement on the bed or have the X-Y axes move along the Z-axis as well?
    Jun 26, 2015 12:43 PM - donhuevo: bed moves in z
    Jun 26, 2015 12:44 PM - jbigler1986: printing parts or all metal?
    Jun 26, 2015 12:44 PM - donhuevo: printing parts
Jun 26, 2015 12:44 PM - donhuevo: going to use the openbuilds 65mm gantries on those two side rails though
Jun 26, 2015 12:45 PM - donhuevo: those v wheels are very smooth and creamy
Jun 26, 2015 12:45 PM - daniel871: The apparel company my mom works for had to have stipulations in a contract with Kohl's that if they didn't sell enough product they had to buy back any stock when Kohl's broke the contract. I'm sure WalMart and companies like it would have similar clauses.
Jun 26, 2015 12:47 PM - daniel871: Mid-level distributor for Soffe and Underarmour, so not like they were unpopular brands either.
Jun 26, 2015 12:47 PM - jbigler1986: nope. we have product in walmart, target, meijer, dicks sporting goods and other. Do not have that in any contracts
    Jun 26, 2015 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: it's how you negotiate the contract
    Jun 26, 2015 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: going dual with it don?
Jun 26, 2015 12:49 PM - donhuevo: hadn't thought that far but maybe?
Jun 26, 2015 12:49 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm. i would build it that way. would be less of a hassle if you did want to print with dual
    Jun 26, 2015 12:50 PM - jbigler1986: or maybe an easy swap carriage/extruder design
Jun 26, 2015 12:50 PM - donhuevo: my thoughts on the carriage would make it easy to do that
Jun 26, 2015 12:50 PM - donhuevo: I was even thinking dremel holder
    Jun 26, 2015 12:50 PM - jbigler1986: great idea
Jun 26, 2015 12:51 PM - daniel871: Like the one for the MPCNC?
    Jun 26, 2015 12:51 PM - donhuevo: haven't seen that
Jun 26, 2015 12:51 PM - Bill Monroe: is pondering... "creamy"
    Jun 26, 2015 12:51 PM - daniel871: There's a related thing somewhere for a dremel holder for that.
    Jun 26, 2015 12:52 PM - daniel871: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:748975
    Jun 26, 2015 12:52 PM - daniel871: Not a very good tool according to that thing's description.
Jun 26, 2015 12:52 PM - donhuevo: my plan for the carriage is to have the rods on a 45 (back higher than front) and have the carriage be an 'L'
Jun 26, 2015 12:57 PM - Mike Glass: he as a tattoo machine holder as well.
Jun 26, 2015 12:58 PM - Mike Glass: anybody in the virginia area? http://www.ebay.com/itm/CNC-MILLING...328?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c9bcf70c8
    Jun 26, 2015 1:07 PM - daniel871: I like the description on that one.
Jun 26, 2015 1:07 PM - daniel871: "You should never actually use it, but here it is"
Jun 26, 2015 1:09 PM - daniel871: The Tatoo holder, not the CNC machine.
Jun 26, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Glass: Im not sure why he made that, I will ask him what he was thinking..
Jun 26, 2015 1:10 PM - Mike Glass: He is suppose to be working on a new mount for my bosch colt
Jun 26, 2015 1:11 PM - daniel871: I could just see some weirdo trying to use it with an autolevel routine to do a back piece.
Jun 26, 2015 1:11 PM - donhuevo: maybe it's a Silence of the Lambs thing... tatoo the skin after it's been peeled
    Jun 26, 2015 1:11 PM - daniel871: Or that.
Jun 26, 2015 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: thats how I would do it.
    Jun 26, 2015 1:11 PM - daniel871: Oooh, Tatoo into animal skins.
Jun 26, 2015 1:11 PM - daniel871: Like those deerskin rug things you see sometimes at flea markets.
Jun 26, 2015 1:12 PM - Mike Glass: or use to inject meats with tendorizor
Jun 26, 2015 1:12 PM - daniel871: Lot of work on preservative/taxidermy type stuff to make it where the thing will last any amount of time, but there would be a use for it.
Jun 26, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.ebay.com/itm/24x36-CNC-r...1&pid=100005&rk=4&rkt=6&sd=121487299259&rt=nc hmm birthday comming up soon.
    Jun 26, 2015 1:17 PM - daniel871: Wait, that's actually a thing for tatoos on living people. http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-PRINTER-X-TATTOO-MACHINE/
    Jun 26, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Glass: crazy

    Jun 26, 2015 1:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: I am done in 2 weeks
Jun 26, 2015 1:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: And onto cervesa numero deux
Jun 26, 2015 1:48 PM - Stephen Capistron: That states rights Lincoln thing would be so much better if he was doing the WWE / wwf triple x version of suck it.
Jun 26, 2015 1:54 PM - daniel871: It's the only one that's been circulating for the last few years.
Jun 26, 2015 1:54 PM - daniel871: Could also do the "Anything is a Dildo if you're brave enough" quote with him.
Jun 26, 2015 1:55 PM - Stephen Capistron: So disappointed that they didn't go with my idea
Jun 26, 2015 1:56 PM - Stephen Capistron: I will say that the Abraham Lincoln vampire slayer movie was pretty entertaining
Jun 26, 2015 1:56 PM - Mike Kelly: finally out of meetings
Jun 26, 2015 1:56 PM - daniel871: Threw $10 at the blow shit up with Arnold contest.
Jun 26, 2015 1:56 PM - donhuevo: way more fun than I expected it to be
Jun 26, 2015 1:57 PM - daniel871: Not going to win, but it would be a fun time if I did.
Jun 26, 2015 1:57 PM - Stephen Capistron: I know. The fake historical plot was actually pretty good
Jun 26, 2015 1:58 PM - daniel871: Did you watch the one about FDR?
Jun 26, 2015 1:58 PM - Mike Kelly: do you guys watch Drunk History?
    Jun 26, 2015 1:58 PM - donhuevo: Pearl Harbor?
Jun 26, 2015 1:58 PM - Stephen Capistron: There is an fdr one?
    Jun 26, 2015 1:58 PM - daniel871: Yep.
    Jun 26, 2015 1:58 PM - daniel871:
Jun 26, 2015 1:58 PM - Stephen Capistron: Is it on Amazon?
Jun 26, 2015 1:59 PM - Stephen Capistron: Drunk history is good
Jun 26, 2015 1:59 PM - Mike Kelly: it's one of my favorite shows right now
Jun 26, 2015 2:02 PM - Stephen Capistron: My dog is so dumb. I keep pulling up blades of grass and she keeps eating them
    Jun 26, 2015 2:02 PM - daniel871: Hope you like dog puke.
    Jun 26, 2015 2:03 PM - daniel871: (they certainly do)
Jun 26, 2015 2:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: She has an iron stomach
Jun 26, 2015 2:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: Magic beagle powers really
Jun 26, 2015 2:05 PM - Mike Kelly: but terrified of metal bowls
Jun 26, 2015 2:07 PM - daniel871: Is it normal for a Printinz plate to lose whatever it is about it that has filament stick to it after only a handful of prints?
    Jun 26, 2015 2:08 PM - Mike Kelly: no
Jun 26, 2015 2:08 PM - daniel871: I'm going to flip it and try the other side after I'm done with PET+ stuff on the regular robo bed, but it pretty much went to hell pretty fast.
Jun 26, 2015 2:08 PM - Mike Kelly: if it's peeling off or you're seeing fibers then you're too low
Jun 26, 2015 2:09 PM - daniel871: No, it lays down, but when the next layer comes around it starts sliding.
Jun 26, 2015 2:09 PM - daniel871: Like trying to print PLA on the glass bed without any hairspray.
Jun 26, 2015 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: never seen that
    Jun 26, 2015 2:10 PM - daniel871: Surface may be too smooth?
Jun 26, 2015 2:10 PM - Stephen Capistron: She is scared of her own shadow. Dumb as rocks. Can and will eat anything, including rocks
Jun 26, 2015 2:10 PM - daniel871: Maybe she's trying to be a crocodile and eats rocks to help digest stuff?
Jun 26, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh how is it only 3
Jun 26, 2015 2:12 PM - daniel871: If the flip side doesn't do any better I'll try to figure out a way to evenly run sandpaper over it to rough it up a little.
Jun 26, 2015 2:12 PM - daniel871: If I knew the sanding-planer at work wouldn't just eat it I'd run it through that.
Jun 26, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: could be like oils or something, try cleaning it with acetone
Jun 26, 2015 2:15 PM - Stephen Capistron: Ipa before acetone
Jun 26, 2015 2:15 PM - Stephen Capistron: To be more specific, try isopropyl and if that doesn't work try acetone
Jun 26, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Kelly: i've cleaned it with acetone before, it's fine
Jun 26, 2015 2:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: In that case go nuts. I just didn't want the thing to shrivel on him
Jun 26, 2015 2:21 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think his website even says as much
Jun 26, 2015 2:21 PM - Mike Kelly: it's chemical resistant just not great against heat
Jun 26, 2015 2:22 PM - Stephen Capistron: Huh. So could it just be a sheet of polypropylene?
    Jun 26, 2015 2:22 PM - daniel871: I tried isopropyl already.
    Jun 26, 2015 2:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's some kind of nylon/garolite mixture
Jun 26, 2015 2:22 PM - Stephen Capistron: With some surface texture
Jun 26, 2015 2:24 PM - Stephen Capistron: I didn't think nylon liked solvents. Never really see them in the lab
Jun 26, 2015 2:25 PM - Mike Kelly: nylon actually is more resistant to acetone than propyl alcohol

Jun 26, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Kelly: it gets an A for acetone and D for isopropyl
    Jun 26, 2015 2:28 PM - Stephen Capistron: Weird
Jun 26, 2015 2:28 PM - Stephen Capistron: I looked it up on my phone, but I'm kind of slow
Jun 26, 2015 2:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: So is my phone for that matter
Jun 26, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: PP is by far the king of chemical resistance
Jun 26, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: but nylon can be ok
Jun 26, 2015 2:31 PM - Mike Kelly: it's just less common because it's so flexible
Jun 26, 2015 2:34 PM - Stephen Capistron: And it swells when wet
    Jun 26, 2015 2:35 PM - Mike Kelly: also a problem
Jun 26, 2015 2:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: Makes a good plastic phase in a
    Jun 26, 2015 2:38 PM - jbigler1986: Cleaning this bitch
    Jun 26, 2015 2:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: Composite
    Jun 26, 2015 2:40 PM - jbigler1986: SC did you install the e3d yet?
Jun 26, 2015 2:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: Nope. Maybe Sunday. My wife is leaving for a business trip early in the morning so I have all day to reconfigure things
Jun 26, 2015 2:43 PM - Stephen Capistron: I want to get the power supply and arduino out from under so it is easier to add and change things
    Jun 26, 2015 2:46 PM - jbigler1986: Thats a good idea
Jun 26, 2015 2:47 PM - Stephen Capistron: I printed a new carriage, Greg Wade, x idler, and x motor parts too
Jun 26, 2015 2:48 PM - Stephen Capistron: I also printed a box for the arduino
Jun 26, 2015 2:49 PM - Mike Glass: you dont need no stinkin box
    Jun 26, 2015 2:50 PM - jbigler1986: X idler? Anything different?
Jun 26, 2015 2:50 PM - Stephen Capistron: I know, but it gave me something to do and a place to mount the fan
Jun 26, 2015 2:51 PM - Stephen Capistron: I went over kill and am going to try adding 2 more smooth Z rods
Jun 26, 2015 2:51 PM - Stephen Capistron: I went over kill and am going to try adding 2 more smooth Z rods
Jun 26, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: ah you're one of them
Jun 26, 2015 2:51 PM - jbigler1986: Ahhh. Don can help you with that
Jun 26, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: him and toy
    Jun 26, 2015 2:52 PM - jbigler1986: I dont see a reason to
    Jun 26, 2015 2:52 PM - jbigler1986: Looks cool though
Jun 26, 2015 2:53 PM - Stephen Capistron: Should help a little since I don't bother with the top of the printer
Jun 26, 2015 2:53 PM - Mike Kelly: it would indeed
    Jun 26, 2015 2:55 PM - jbigler1986: Very true
Jun 26, 2015 2:56 PM - Stephen Capistron: I value my elbow room around the printer
Jun 26, 2015 3:00 PM - Stephen Capistron: At this point I will be down to the black plastic plate and the base
Jun 26, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Kelly: time to replace the base
Jun 26, 2015 3:01 PM - Mike Kelly: aluminum is the way to go
Jun 26, 2015 3:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: I need the mpcnc for that. I don't have access to a mill to get the positional accuracy
    Jun 26, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: right
Jun 26, 2015 3:06 PM - Stephen Capistron: Might be able to pull it off with a drill press and a 1 to 1 print out
Jun 26, 2015 3:12 PM - Stephen Capistron: Just go with a loose fit clearance and test out the movement before really tightening anything
    Jun 26, 2015 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: Test before finalizing it? Nooooo
Jun 26, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i think if solidworks crashes around half hour before i'm supposed to leave i should just be able to go
    Jun 26, 2015 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: Yep.
    Jun 26, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:892619 neat
    Jun 26, 2015 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: U and SC start your own company
Jun 26, 2015 3:25 PM - Stephen Capistron: Without a doubt. SW crashes any time after 4 and it is time to go home
Jun 26, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i think so as well
Jun 26, 2015 3:28 PM - Stephen Capistron: What would we make? TNST printer? "the non sucky tiko"
Jun 26, 2015 3:29 PM - Printed Solid: there are lots of non sucky tiko printers.
    Jun 26, 2015 3:29 PM - Printed Solid: they just don't cost $100
    Jun 26, 2015 3:29 PM - Printed Solid: lol
    Jun 26, 2015 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: Hey its $179
Jun 26, 2015 3:29 PM - Printed Solid: seemecnc has had something in the works for a while.
    Jun 26, 2015 3:30 PM - Printed Solid: $179
    Jun 26, 2015 3:30 PM - Printed Solid: then :p
Jun 26, 2015 3:30 PM - Printed Solid: I've been thinking about buying a folgertech kit or something like that to see just what you get for such a cheap kit.
Jun 26, 2015 3:30 PM - jbigler1986: I like the filament adding vid. Lol. It will magically find where the spool starts
Jun 26, 2015 3:30 PM - Stephen Capistron: At worst they will be useful spare parts
    Jun 26, 2015 3:31 PM - Printed Solid: maybe.
Jun 26, 2015 3:31 PM - Printed Solid: at least the wires and motors.
Jun 26, 2015 3:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: the arduino and ramps should be ok
Jun 26, 2015 3:32 PM - Printed Solid: I doubt the hot end will be worth anything, but that's true even with more expensive printers.
Jun 26, 2015 3:32 PM - Printed Solid: Again, maybe :) Robo sure got some doozie batches
Jun 26, 2015 3:32 PM - Mike Kelly: which printer are we talking about here
Jun 26, 2015 3:32 PM - Printed Solid: I'm talking about folgertech prusa
    Jun 26, 2015 3:32 PM - jbigler1986: The one and only
Jun 26, 2015 3:32 PM - Printed Solid: they're talking about tiko. I'm like a toddler. Parallel play.
Jun 26, 2015 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: Anyone remember the name of that one for aroune 1100 that we liked
Jun 26, 2015 3:33 PM - Printed Solid: lol. the 1 out of like 450?
    Jun 26, 2015 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
    Jun 26, 2015 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: Starts with a e i think
Jun 26, 2015 3:34 PM - Printed Solid: a kit? was I involved in the discussion?
    Jun 26, 2015 3:34 PM - jbigler1986: It was a modular design
Jun 26, 2015 3:34 PM - Printed Solid: the best printer kit I know of at that price is the rostock max
    Jun 26, 2015 3:34 PM - Printed Solid: oh.
    Jun 26, 2015 3:34 PM - Printed Solid: ok
    Jun 26, 2015 3:34 PM - jbigler1986: Wasnt a kit
Jun 26, 2015 3:35 PM - jbigler1986: Man i cannot remember the name on it. MG where are you
Jun 26, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: was it something you go and buy?
Jun 26, 2015 3:36 PM - jbigler1986: Not available yet. Had like 3 different sizes
Jun 26, 2015 3:36 PM - Stephen Capistron: eusthanios or whatever it is?
    Jun 26, 2015 3:36 PM - jbigler1986: It was like 4 letters
    Jun 26, 2015 3:36 PM - Mike Kelly: wasn't it on kickstarter?
    Jun 26, 2015 3:36 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Jun 26, 2015 3:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: not available yet + 3 different sizes + kickstarter = bad news
Jun 26, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: another crash
Jun 26, 2015 3:37 PM - Printed Solid: speaking of tiko. I got to see a micro 3d printer at dc makerfaire.
    Jun 26, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm going home!
    Jun 26, 2015 3:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: .1mm nozzle?
    Jun 26, 2015 3:37 PM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/117449506018831131711/posts/WK8GZribgfH?cfem=1 i'll leave you with this
    Jun 26, 2015 3:37 PM - Printed Solid: what's a .1mm nozzle?
    Jun 26, 2015 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: https://printm3d.com/themicro/ he means this
Jun 26, 2015 3:38 PM - Printed Solid: the microright.
Jun 26, 2015 3:38 PM - jbigler1986: It actually looks really good. Had the easily removable head
Jun 26, 2015 3:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: Someone on the google group was crabbing about them earlier this week or last week
Jun 26, 2015 3:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: I don't remember who or what it was about
Jun 26, 2015 3:41 PM - Printed Solid: it's same deal as the tiko. cheap. slow, but a great little toy.
Jun 26, 2015 3:42 PM - Printed Solid: really, there are a ton of people who want to just try this, will play with it for a few weeks or months, and then pitch it. so, a crappy, sub $300 printer is perfect.
Jun 26, 2015 3:42 PM - Printed Solid: If they get into it, they get something better.
Jun 26, 2015 3:45 PM - Stephen Capistron: weird. I got my retraction up to 40mm/s which seems to go ok, but the stepper is skipping when it goes to extrude again :(
Jun 26, 2015 3:45 PM - Stephen Capistron: At 35mm/s it was fine

Jun 26, 2015 3:45 PM - daniel871: I'd actually like a Tiko for piddling around with small parts.
Jun 26, 2015 3:46 PM - daniel871: While the Robo does something bigger.
Jun 26, 2015 3:46 PM - daniel871: If they ever start shipping and taking orders.
Jun 26, 2015 3:46 PM - Printed Solid: I don't know. if you already have a functional printer, I doubt you'll be interested in one of these toys for in between stuff.
Jun 26, 2015 3:47 PM - Printed Solid: The printrbots are much more robust.
Jun 26, 2015 3:47 PM - Printed Solid: And I'm hearing a lot of enthusiasm from the team about the new Robo Minis
Jun 26, 2015 3:47 PM - daniel871: How much will the Mini be?
    Jun 26, 2015 3:48 PM - daniel871: Or have they said?

Jun 26, 2015 3:49 PM - Printed Solid: I think it is in the $400 ball park.
    Jun 26, 2015 3:51 PM - daniel871: And the replacement for the R1?
Jun 26, 2015 3:51 PM - Printed Solid: new R1 is same price I believe.
Jun 26, 2015 3:51 PM - Printed Solid: R2 is still a ways down the road
Jun 26, 2015 3:51 PM - daniel871: Or the new mid-size? I know the Mega was 10k from some article.
Jun 26, 2015 3:52 PM - Printed Solid: I think they were saying 1.5k ish, but who knows.
Jun 26, 2015 3:52 PM - Printed Solid: that was probably close to a year ago or more by now.
Jun 26, 2015 3:53 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah new r1 with integraded lead screws are same price
Jun 26, 2015 3:53 PM - jbigler1986: Have you seen that printer i posted Matt? I like it
    Jun 26, 2015 3:55 PM - Printed Solid: hadn't seen it.
Jun 26, 2015 3:55 PM - Printed Solid: Honestly, I'm absolutely astonished every time a new printer company enters the market.
Jun 26, 2015 3:55 PM - Printed Solid: Amazing how many of them there are.
Jun 26, 2015 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: Its crazy. I dont like most of them. That NEA i do like though
Jun 26, 2015 3:57 PM - Printed Solid: It looks pretty neat. It's just baffling from a business perspective 'hey, there's this super crowded market and we've got a slightly marginally differentiated product, let's jump in!'
Jun 26, 2015 3:58 PM - Mike Kelly: what shocks me is how many people WANT to jump in
Jun 26, 2015 3:58 PM - Mike Kelly: everyone and their brother thinks designing a 3d printer is super easy and they want to do it
Jun 26, 2015 3:58 PM - Printed Solid: I'm not mad about it or anything. It's just really interesting to observe. I used to think it was like computers in the 80s, but it's gone way beyond that because it's not just different people assembling stuff in the same basic shells.
Jun 26, 2015 3:58 PM - jbigler1986: Wonder how much money is spent on funding these
Jun 26, 2015 3:59 PM - Printed Solid: by the way, have you guys seen the cartoon I had made up for the website relaunch?
Jun 26, 2015 3:59 PM - Stephen Capistron: Right. First ones to be the hp, Epson, whatever will make a killing. It needs to be reliable and easy enough that even technophobes can use it
    Jun 26, 2015 3:59 PM - Printed Solid: https://scontent-lga1-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...776_464889057012977_4788241391453673765_o.jpg
Jun 26, 2015 3:59 PM - Mike Kelly: it's just funny to me because i have a certain idea of what the "ideal" printer would be
Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: then you see people trying to sell really off the wall ideas
Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Printed Solid: And cheap. 3d systems is really trying hard for that stupid simple easy to use thing, but pricey
Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: i guess speed isn't their prime directive
Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: the cubes?
    Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Printed Solid: ya
    Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - donhuevo: speed is my prime directive
Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Printed Solid: they have hot end and what not as part of the cartridge
Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: and then you get scumbags like XYZ trying to undercut
    Jun 26, 2015 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jun 26, 2015 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: they take proprietary to a new extreme
Jun 26, 2015 4:01 PM - Printed Solid: I was really disheartened by the number of people owning those POS came to talk to me at the last event I worked at.
    Jun 26, 2015 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: :(
Jun 26, 2015 4:01 PM - Printed Solid: Seriously, it was like everyone that came up either had one or was thinking of getting one.
Jun 26, 2015 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: i mean i know a lot of people hack them
    Jun 26, 2015 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: but c'mon
Jun 26, 2015 4:01 PM - Stephen Capistron: Jb is sleeping with the wrong printer
Jun 26, 2015 4:01 PM - Mike Kelly: they just can't get over the price tag
Jun 26, 2015 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: "$500 dollars for a huge print volume! what a deal!"
Jun 26, 2015 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: what's funny though is their filament comes out to be the same price as makerbots
    Jun 26, 2015 4:02 PM - jbigler1986: What
Jun 26, 2015 4:02 PM - Mike Kelly: which makerbot will void your warranty if you don't use their filament
Jun 26, 2015 4:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: When I was shopping the proprietary shit was a deal breaker
Jun 26, 2015 4:03 PM - Printed Solid: yeah. the proprietary cartridge thing is bad news. 3D Systems pushed their ekocycle to first teams. Now a bunch have it and can't afford to buy new filament. But I believe that works out to be nearly 2X the cost of bronzefill
Jun 26, 2015 4:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: Look at the cartoon.
Jun 26, 2015 4:03 PM - Printed Solid: I'm actually OK with certain things in printers being proprietary if it is truly unique and it works.
Jun 26, 2015 4:04 PM - Printed Solid: I picked which printer went where very deliberately. notice where the robo is?
Jun 26, 2015 4:04 PM - Printed Solid: granted the wrench is in an odd place.
Jun 26, 2015 4:04 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm ok with proprietary as long as it's not intentionall market disruption
    Jun 26, 2015 4:04 PM - Mike Kelly: the one you're working on :)
    Jun 26, 2015 4:05 PM - Printed Solid: yup
Jun 26, 2015 4:05 PM - Stephen Capistron: I kind of wish filament was sold by the kilometer instead of kg
Jun 26, 2015 4:05 PM - Mike Kelly: btw the picture you linked crops off the robo part\
Jun 26, 2015 4:05 PM - Printed Solid: fabberdahery in the UK does that.
Jun 26, 2015 4:05 PM - Printed Solid: I know. we need to make some changes.
Jun 26, 2015 4:05 PM - Mike Kelly: well then they won't see the robo part
    Jun 26, 2015 4:05 PM - Printed Solid: https://www.facebook.com/PrintedSol...4075281094358/464889057012977/?type=1&theater
Jun 26, 2015 4:06 PM - Printed Solid: doesn't crop it for me.
Jun 26, 2015 4:06 PM - Printed Solid: Oh, you mean on my facebook banner?
Jun 26, 2015 4:06 PM - Mike Kelly: https://scontent-lga1-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...776_464889057012977_4788241391453673765_o.jpg this is cropped on my end
Jun 26, 2015 4:06 PM - Printed Solid: Yeah, that's OK. the main purpose of the cartoon is for the website. It's just on facebook because I couldn't wait.
Jun 26, 2015 4:07 PM - Mike Kelly: i know i'm just saying that the people who haven't seen it wouldn't be getting the "full picture"
Jun 26, 2015 4:07 PM - Printed Solid: Oh, OK.
Jun 26, 2015 4:07 PM - Stephen Capistron: Total cost of ownership is lost
    Jun 26, 2015 4:08 PM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/gallery/Efp8vho
Jun 26, 2015 4:08 PM - Stephen Capistron: Need monroney stickers for printers
Jun 26, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Kelly: also i hate how much this filament warps!
Jun 26, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Kelly: how do people print with PLA
    Jun 26, 2015 4:09 PM - jbigler1986: Easily
    Jun 26, 2015 4:09 PM - jbigler1986: :D
Jun 26, 2015 4:10 PM - Stephen Capistron: You get pla to warp?
Jun 26, 2015 4:11 PM - Stephen Capistron: Maybe if you were using colorfabb from a reputable supplier...
Jun 26, 2015 4:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's due to autolevel not being great and also not getting one of the corners on the heater
Jun 26, 2015 4:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i hate that the heater is 8.2x8.2
    Jun 26, 2015 4:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i need a bigger one
    Jun 26, 2015 4:13 PM - Stephen Capistron: That's what she said
Jun 26, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Kelly: don's role is being played tonight by stephen
Jun 26, 2015 4:14 PM - Printed Solid: at this time of year, I'm really surprised to see you having trouble with PLA.
Jun 26, 2015 4:14 PM - Stephen Capistron: You put that one on a tee
Jun 26, 2015 4:15 PM - Printed Solid: Maybe let it go for a few more layers before the fan kicks on?
Jun 26, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i really softballed it in
Jun 26, 2015 4:15 PM - Printed Solid: yeah, I've got to agree with SC
Jun 26, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Kelly: it also doesn't help that i wasn't watching the first layer
Jun 26, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Kelly: had to get to work so i just let it ride
Jun 26, 2015 4:15 PM - Printed Solid: nope. that never helps newbie
Jun 26, 2015 4:16 PM - Printed Solid: always best to ignore your own good advice :)
Jun 26, 2015 4:16 PM - Printed Solid: do as I say, not as I do.
Jun 26, 2015 4:16 PM - Stephen Capistron: Rookies, sheesh

Jun 26, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Kelly: but yeah
Jun 26, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Kelly: not a huge fan of the stock autolevel routine\
Jun 26, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Kelly: doesn't compensate on the Y as i think it should
Jun 26, 2015 4:17 PM - Stephen Capistron: My darling wife just got home, so later gents
    Jun 26, 2015 4:17 PM - Printed Solid: later
Jun 26, 2015 4:51 PM - jbigler1986: Hey i have no problems with the autolevel
Jun 26, 2015 4:52 PM - jbigler1986: However i did run dial indicator along the y and shimmed under the magnets where needed. Then used it to level the x
    Jun 26, 2015 4:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i might do that
Jun 26, 2015 5:05 PM - jbigler1986: Just get some really thin washers
Jun 26, 2015 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: I used paper too. But the washers were easier to control
Jun 26, 2015 5:12 PM - Shank: dumb question/not thinking ....what would cause it to sound bumpy when running across the printing surface
Jun 26, 2015 5:12 PM - mark tomlinson: over extrusion, maybe...
    Jun 26, 2015 5:13 PM - Shank: i tested the flow rate from 80-110%
    Jun 26, 2015 5:15 PM - jbigler1986: Bed not level
Jun 26, 2015 5:16 PM - Shank: the skirt looks fine i will run paper under it when it finishes the current print
    Jun 26, 2015 5:18 PM - Shank: cura settings are....print speed 60...extruder temp 185....bed temp 50....flow 110
Jun 26, 2015 5:34 PM - daniel871: Ive heard random bumping noises that were actually from the wade gears because the tensioner bolts were putting a hard strain on the stepper.
Jun 26, 2015 5:34 PM - daniel871: But we are talking really overtightened screws.
Jun 26, 2015 5:35 PM - daniel871: Also flow 110 is too high if the extrusion multiplier is right.
    Jun 26, 2015 5:39 PM - Shank: what should i try
Jun 26, 2015 5:45 PM - jbigler1986: if flow is below 90 you need to calibrate e steps
    Jun 26, 2015 5:46 PM - jbigler1986: really if below 95 i would calibrate
Jun 26, 2015 5:47 PM - Shank: just releveled the bed ...running a test block at 90%...i will let you know how it turns out in 32ish minutes

    Jun 26, 2015 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: heating up. printing 2 extruders
Jun 26, 2015 5:57 PM - jbigler1986: offset needs lowered but i'm gonna let it be
    Jun 26, 2015 6:01 PM - daniel871: Printing the Soppha bust.
Jun 26, 2015 6:03 PM - Shank: you printing abs
    Jun 26, 2015 6:03 PM - jbigler1986: ?
    Jun 26, 2015 6:03 PM - jbigler1986: Who?
    Jun 26, 2015 6:03 PM - Shank: you
    Jun 26, 2015 6:04 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. Hate abs. PLA
    Jun 26, 2015 6:04 PM - donhuevo: ABfnS
Jun 26, 2015 6:05 PM - Shank: what level do you start the fan on?
    Jun 26, 2015 6:05 PM - jbigler1986: 2nd layer
Jun 26, 2015 6:07 PM - Shank: hum....i've been running fan on all the time
Jun 26, 2015 6:08 PM - Shank: i bet if i turned it off the first lay i wouldnt need hair spray as much
    Jun 26, 2015 6:08 PM - Mike Glass: heyo
Jun 26, 2015 6:09 PM - Mike Glass: leave fan off for atleast the first layer even 2
Jun 26, 2015 6:10 PM - donhuevo: and keep the hairspray
    Jun 26, 2015 6:10 PM - Shank: hum alright i'll give that a go
    Jun 26, 2015 6:12 PM - Shank: i think i should get a 3d printing for dummies book
Jun 26, 2015 6:17 PM - Mike Glass: you can borrow mine
Jun 26, 2015 6:17 PM - Mike Glass: Now I need spherebot for dummies
Jun 26, 2015 6:18 PM - Shank: i dont think they made that book yet
    Jun 26, 2015 6:38 PM - jbigler1986: Its a long learning process
Jun 26, 2015 6:39 PM - Shank: the spherebot or printing?
    Jun 26, 2015 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: Printing
    Jun 26, 2015 6:41 PM - Shank: i've noticed lol
    Jun 26, 2015 6:43 PM - jbigler1986: Im still learning stuff
    Jun 26, 2015 6:48 PM - Shank: [IMG]
Jun 26, 2015 6:49 PM - Shank: i've been fighting the strips for the last 5 hours
    Jun 26, 2015 6:51 PM - jbigler1986: Checked belts and pullies?
Jun 26, 2015 6:53 PM - Shank: i used loctite on them 2 days ago
    Jun 26, 2015 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: Checked the coupler?
Jun 26, 2015 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: Wait. Didnt you do the lead screw upgrade?
    Jun 26, 2015 6:58 PM - Shank: yep
Jun 26, 2015 6:59 PM - donhuevo: is there any wiggle of the extruder in the carriage?
    Jun 26, 2015 7:01 PM - Shank: Nope
Jun 26, 2015 7:02 PM - donhuevo: those ribs... are they innies on the opposite side or outies all the way around?
Jun 26, 2015 7:03 PM - Shank: outies all the way
Jun 26, 2015 7:03 PM - donhuevo: so for some reason ( and randomly) you aren't getting a full layer height
    Jun 26, 2015 7:04 PM - jbigler1986: Slicer?
    Jun 26, 2015 7:04 PM - donhuevo: don't see how
Jun 26, 2015 7:04 PM - donhuevo: but couldn't hurt to try another
Jun 26, 2015 7:06 PM - Shank: after going to the volcano i've been getting the ribs....all sizes are good
Jun 26, 2015 7:06 PM - Shank: i will try it in craft and see what i get
Jun 26, 2015 7:12 PM - Shank: the code from craft is running
Jun 26, 2015 7:22 PM - Shank: i dont want to jinx it but the craft sliced one is looking good half way in
Jun 26, 2015 7:54 PM - Mike Glass: could be a heat issue also look at the temp chart and see if you see any peaks
Jun 26, 2015 8:14 PM - Speakr4thedead: hey all, I'm having a random issue with my Robo that has apparently come out of nowhere. It no longer responds correctly to g28 or g29 commands
Jun 26, 2015 8:14 PM - Speakr4thedead: it just keeps rising higher and higher in the air
Jun 26, 2015 8:15 PM - Speakr4thedead: was printing perfectly fine 24 hours ago, just turned it on and now it's not working
Jun 26, 2015 8:15 PM - Speakr4thedead: anyone ever experienced anything like this?
Jun 26, 2015 8:24 PM - Speakr4thedead: it would appear that for some reason, my printer know longer knows what G28 Z0 means
Jun 26, 2015 8:37 PM - Mike Glass: check the wires on your level switches
Jun 26, 2015 8:40 PM - Speakr4thedead: yeah I just noticed this on one of my switches [IMG]
Jun 26, 2015 8:40 PM - Speakr4thedead: so, not sure how that happened but I'm guess that's the culprit

Jun 27, 2015 4:18 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Jun 27, 2015 4:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning
    Jun 27, 2015 4:37 AM - daniel871: Morning.
Jun 27, 2015 4:37 AM - daniel871: Woke up to my printer still printing without the part coming loose from the bed or otherwise f-ing up. It's a good morning.
    Jun 27, 2015 4:38 AM - daniel871: Printing this, but re-scaled to fit inside the Robo's print area. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:105551
    Jun 27, 2015 4:38 AM - daniel871: (Came in huge)
Jun 27, 2015 4:42 AM - WheresWaldo: d871, how do you plan on finishing her?
Jun 27, 2015 4:55 AM - daniel871: If the S3D supports do what they're supposed to, I shouldn't have to do much of anything, but I figure some light and very careful sanding/smoothing with a low-speed dremel tool if I absolutely have to (or some very careful razor blade work).
    Jun 27, 2015 4:55 AM - daniel871: It's just PLA for this one.
Jun 27, 2015 4:58 AM - daniel871: Lots of stuff in this article for reference, too. http://makezine.com/projects/make-3...-and-post-processing-your-3d-printed-objects/
    Jun 27, 2015 5:00 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
Jun 27, 2015 5:12 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning folks...getting in overtime might as well have company
    Jun 27, 2015 5:24 AM - jbigler1986: True that
    Jun 27, 2015 5:24 AM - jbigler1986: Not salary?
    Jun 27, 2015 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: Salary with overtime incentive :)
    Jun 27, 2015 5:26 AM - jbigler1986: Ah. Nice. Good deal there
Jun 27, 2015 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah it is. I wasn't expecting anyone to be on this early saturday morning
    Jun 27, 2015 5:30 AM - jbigler1986: Im always on early
    Jun 27, 2015 5:33 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Jun 27, 2015 5:34 AM - JeffTheMess: you printing anything today
Jun 27, 2015 5:35 AM - jbigler1986: Not at the moment. I printed 2 extruders last night. 1 i dont like. 1 i do. It needs modified a little. Then i will reprint it
Jun 27, 2015 6:11 AM - daniel871: I'm not that crazy with the noise the printer makes when doing hex infill.
Jun 27, 2015 6:11 AM - daniel871: You hear a little bump or whatever when it changes direction.
Jun 27, 2015 6:12 AM - daniel871: No visible deflection in actual printing, it just doesn't sound all that great.
Jun 27, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: If I go missing for a bit at the end of July, it means the Windows 10 release didn't go very well with all of my programs and I'm reinstalling 7.
Jun 27, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: Not expecting problems, but you never know.
    Jun 27, 2015 6:17 AM - donhuevo: morning gents
    Jun 27, 2015 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: morning
    Jun 27, 2015 6:20 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
Jun 27, 2015 6:22 AM - donhuevo: just reading back up thru... daniel, have you tried lowering your acceleration numbers in the firmware?
Jun 27, 2015 6:22 AM - donhuevo: that'll make it less pinball and more robot
Jun 27, 2015 6:25 AM - daniel871: Not yet. Where is that located in the firmware?
    Jun 27, 2015 6:25 AM - daniel871: Just search for acceleration?
    Jun 27, 2015 6:26 AM - donhuevo: in configuration.h note my 3 800's [IMG]
Jun 27, 2015 6:27 AM - daniel871: I'll do that after the current print is done.
Jun 27, 2015 6:27 AM - donhuevo: it'll add time to your prints but also most likely add life to your printer

    Jun 27, 2015 6:34 AM - jbigler1986: lets try .4
Jun 27, 2015 6:34 AM - donhuevo: it'll wear off eventually jb. just breathe and think happy thoughts
    Jun 27, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: ok. .2
Jun 27, 2015 6:44 AM - donhuevo: I thought you already had this dialed in jb
    Jun 27, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: it needed lowered last night
    Jun 27, 2015 6:47 AM - donhuevo: weird
    Jun 27, 2015 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: yep
    Jun 27, 2015 6:49 AM - jbigler1986: ok G1 Z-0.1 did the trick
    Jun 27, 2015 6:49 AM - donhuevo: alrighty
Jun 27, 2015 7:02 AM - jbigler1986: Is it good to have it closest to 0 as possible
    Jun 27, 2015 7:04 AM - donhuevo: don't think it matters
    Jun 27, 2015 7:04 AM - donhuevo: mine is .6
Jun 27, 2015 7:04 AM - donhuevo: I'm perfectly ok with having a big one
Jun 27, 2015 7:05 AM - Mike Glass: ok what did i walk into
    Jun 27, 2015 7:05 AM - donhuevo: we're having a z offset measuring contest
Jun 27, 2015 7:05 AM - donhuevo: jb is turtling
Jun 27, 2015 7:05 AM - jbigler1986: Is it relative to where the switches are located and activating on home
    Jun 27, 2015 7:05 AM - Mike Glass: haha
Jun 27, 2015 7:06 AM - donhuevo: ya, I'd say the switch sensitivity plays into it
Jun 27, 2015 7:07 AM - Mike Glass: thank goodness for golf balls that work like white boards.
Jun 27, 2015 7:09 AM - donhuevo: what the hell did you write on them?
    Jun 27, 2015 7:09 AM - jbigler1986: Hard telling with MG
Jun 27, 2015 7:10 AM - Mike Glass: just trying to get that spherebot working, finally got it figured out, it was really jerky, but now it prints smooth as butter
Jun 27, 2015 7:10 AM - donhuevo: so it WASN'T something like 'my boss sucks dicks'
    Jun 27, 2015 7:11 AM - Mike Glass: not yet ;)
Jun 27, 2015 7:11 AM - donhuevo: got a little worried there for a sec
Jun 27, 2015 7:12 AM - Mike Glass: they clean up nice with denatured alcohol
Jun 27, 2015 7:14 AM - Mike Glass: dang forgot to put the cap back on the marker last night, now its dried up :(
Jun 27, 2015 7:25 AM - donhuevo: try dipping the tip in some isopropyl
Jun 27, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Glass: i flipped it over and used the bigger tip, but kinda too thick of lines.
Jun 27, 2015 7:31 AM - donhuevo: sharpie or dry erase?
Jun 27, 2015 7:31 AM - Mike Glass: sharpie, that worked.
Jun 27, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Glass: now just have to figure out how to print around the whole thing, right now it only will do 1.5 inch at a time.
Jun 27, 2015 7:35 AM - donhuevo: do you have pics of it?
Jun 27, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Glass: back now
    Jun 27, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Jun 27, 2015 8:00 AM - donhuevo: I can't tell how it works. How does it move from pole to pole?
    Jun 27, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Glass:
Jun 27, 2015 8:05 AM - donhuevo: got it. makes sense now
Jun 27, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Glass: I need smaller suction cups, need to find some nerf darts that way it doesnt take up too much area
Jun 27, 2015 8:06 AM - donhuevo: what direction are you calling the sharpie movement?
Jun 27, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: servo would be z, so it would be x
Jun 27, 2015 8:08 AM - donhuevo: alright so the ball rotation is y
    Jun 27, 2015 8:08 AM - donhuevo: yes?
Jun 27, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Glass: thats how I understand it
Jun 27, 2015 8:08 AM - donhuevo: and the software won't let the ball rotate 360?
Jun 27, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: hmm sending commands to it manually it is opposite, so X is the rotation
Jun 27, 2015 8:11 AM - donhuevo: maybe you have your steppers mixed up at the arduino?
Jun 27, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: so wonder what I need to change, I can move it to like x255 but it stops at a certain point
Jun 27, 2015 8:12 AM - Mike Glass: I could swap them I guess and see what happens, but not sure if that would work then.
Jun 27, 2015 8:13 AM - donhuevo: the video you posted showed the guy printing the heart at 90 degrees to your print
Jun 27, 2015 8:14 AM - donhuevo: it may be that the software limits the pen movement and not the ball
Jun 27, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: yea it was rotated in inkscape. looking at another blog it says that y is the pen.
Jun 27, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: https://www.db4cl.com/projects/spherebot-update/ Maybe this is what I need to do.
Jun 27, 2015 8:20 AM - donhuevo: maybe... some good looking eggs there
Jun 27, 2015 8:23 AM - donhuevo: so do you need a mega and a ramps to use Marlin?
Jun 27, 2015 8:24 AM - Bill Monroe: I believe Marlin is also run on a RAMBO
Jun 27, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: I used a uno and some 4988 drivers is all, I think I could of used my nano as well.

Jun 27, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Glass: hey bill
    Jun 27, 2015 8:25 AM - donhuevo: morning Bill
Jun 27, 2015 8:25 AM - Bill Monroe: Mike, Don
Jun 27, 2015 8:26 AM - Bill Monroe: I made a plug for a driver socket on a ramps and fed the signals into a 4 amp driver.. ran a NEMA 23 just fine
Jun 27, 2015 8:27 AM - donhuevo: my concern is Marlin firmware on an Uno. First, will it all fit. Second will it be looking for things that arent there and if it can't find them, will it fail
Jun 27, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: I thought the uno is the same thing really.
Jun 27, 2015 8:30 AM - donhuevo: as far as memory capacity, I'm not sure
    Jun 27, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Glass: just 20 vs 70 pins
Jun 27, 2015 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: Well how big is marlin and how big is the flash chip
Jun 27, 2015 8:31 AM - donhuevo: all I can say for sure is that after the mega is loaded with marlin, there's not a lot left over
Jun 27, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: Memory is different, but that’s no surprise: 32 KB flash memory (program storage), 2 KB SRAM (scratchpad/working memory), and 1 KB EEPROM (permanent variable storage), versus 256 KB flash, 8 KB SRAM, and 4 KB EEPROM.
Jun 27, 2015 8:34 AM - Mike Glass: but for under $5 it works for what I needed it for, I can also use it for the cnc, the program I used was designed for the uno, but went with the mega on that cause I know how to hook up the lcd.
Jun 27, 2015 8:36 AM - donhuevo: try swapping the steppers and see what happens
Jun 27, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: I had to swap wires on the y as it was printing mirror mode at first.
Jun 27, 2015 8:39 AM - donhuevo: I started a .1 naked lady at 11pm last night. Still have just over 200 layers to go (out of 1300)
Jun 27, 2015 8:40 AM - Bill Monroe: I came in late on this but, why the dilemma? mega doesnt cost much more.. just go with it?
Jun 27, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Glass: Yea, but it was a space thing for me.
Jun 27, 2015 8:40 AM - Bill Monroe: when it comes to naked ladies.. I do 2.0 :)
    Jun 27, 2015 8:41 AM - donhuevo: haha
Jun 27, 2015 8:42 AM - Bill Monroe: she's working in the garden in her yoga shorts again... sometimes I think she does that on purpose..
Jun 27, 2015 8:43 AM - donhuevo: well ya... the vegetables aren't gonna appreciate them
Jun 27, 2015 8:44 AM - donhuevo: you could get her back Bill and put a pair on yourself
    Jun 27, 2015 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: BAHahahaha....
Jun 27, 2015 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: naw, she might not wear hers anymore after that sight
    Jun 27, 2015 8:44 AM - donhuevo: haha
Jun 27, 2015 8:45 AM - Bill Monroe: it amazes me that shorts with less material than a washcloth can cost so much
Jun 27, 2015 8:46 AM - Bill Monroe: but when she puts them on, I dont care a bit :)
Jun 27, 2015 8:47 AM - Bill Monroe: I've been working with the new Labview compiler for Arduino... amazing but it's got a few things that bug me
    Jun 27, 2015 8:48 AM - donhuevo: what does it have that Arduino's doesn't?
Jun 27, 2015 8:48 AM - Bill Monroe: nono.. it still uses arduinos.. you just write your program in Labview instead of C++
    Jun 27, 2015 8:48 AM - donhuevo: ah
Jun 27, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: I swapped still worked but printed the other direction and mirror mode
Jun 27, 2015 8:49 AM - Bill Monroe: cant you just reverse it in the firmware Mike?
Jun 27, 2015 8:49 AM - donhuevo: and can you try a print that has the need to go most of the way around the ball?
Jun 27, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: Let me see if I can rotate it more now
Jun 27, 2015 8:50 AM - donhuevo: can't tell you how invaluable a line around the equator of a golf ball is to lining up putts
Jun 27, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: ok now it rotates 360
    Jun 27, 2015 8:50 AM - donhuevo: boom
    Jun 27, 2015 8:52 AM - Mike Glass: so I do I fix it..hmm
Jun 27, 2015 8:53 AM - donhuevo: as for the mirror image, just take one coil pair on the offending motor and switch them
Jun 27, 2015 8:55 AM - Mike Glass: yea thats easy, but how do I get the y back to the pen.
    Jun 27, 2015 8:55 AM - donhuevo: don't think you're supposed to
Jun 27, 2015 8:56 AM - donhuevo: rotate the pic in the software that generates the gcode
    Jun 27, 2015 8:58 AM - donhuevo: oh... naked lady... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:261362
Jun 27, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: oh just read that x should be the pen now..geez people need to make up there minds..lol
    Jun 27, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: its a bit nipply
Jun 27, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Glass: ok looks like I can print around the ball:)
    Jun 27, 2015 9:02 AM - donhuevo: we win!
    Jun 27, 2015 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: Im offended now
    Jun 27, 2015 9:03 AM - donhuevo: I can only apologize jb
Jun 27, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Glass: now need to find a honeycomb pattern.
Jun 27, 2015 9:03 AM - donhuevo: didn't mean to make fun of your tiny little z offset
    Jun 27, 2015 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: Lol. Ur jealous. Its ok. :D
    Jun 27, 2015 9:08 AM - donhuevo: haha
Jun 27, 2015 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: Now to adjust the switches so i wont need to adjust at all. Ha
Jun 27, 2015 9:09 AM - donhuevo: don't play with your switches... you'll go blind
Jun 27, 2015 9:11 AM - jbigler1986: Hey now. Im sending MK a pm telling him im offended
Jun 27, 2015 9:11 AM - donhuevo: and what offended you?
    Jun 27, 2015 9:12 AM - jbigler1986: The naked lady of course
    Jun 27, 2015 9:12 AM - donhuevo: ah... haha
Jun 27, 2015 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: Seriously. Some people just need to get off the internet
Jun 27, 2015 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: If something on a chat offends you go to a different website
    Jun 27, 2015 9:14 AM - donhuevo: agreed
Jun 27, 2015 9:17 AM - donhuevo: MG's not weighing in on this because he's off playing with his balls
Jun 27, 2015 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: No reason to freaking cry about it
Jun 27, 2015 9:17 AM - donhuevo: did I miss something jb? did someone run and tell mom on you?
Jun 27, 2015 9:22 AM - donhuevo: and MG, what about these... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:301928
Jun 27, 2015 9:24 AM - Bill Monroe: hi jb
Jun 27, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Glass: yea thos would work nice
Jun 27, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Glass: Ok, found the magic numbers for a golf ball, now time for a baseball
Jun 27, 2015 9:25 AM - donhuevo: you can start forging signatures!
Jun 27, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Glass: That would be funny.
Jun 27, 2015 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: ooooo just got my airbag recall notice.. I feel so.. included
    Jun 27, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Glass: on your model T?
Jun 27, 2015 9:30 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. for the party ballon on the wheel :)
    Jun 27, 2015 9:31 AM - Bill Monroe: and btw.. it's a A ... dont you forget it :)
Jun 27, 2015 9:34 AM - Bill Monroe: actually FCA just sent me a carefully worded notice that basicall says.. ya, they're bad but we dont have anything else so, stand by
Jun 27, 2015 9:38 AM - Mike Glass: must be dodge then.
Jun 27, 2015 9:39 AM - Bill Monroe: looked it up and took a guess huh?
Jun 27, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Glass: nope I work at a friends autoshop every once and a while, and I have a dodge
Jun 27, 2015 9:41 AM - Bill Monroe: think I'll print naked lady in bronzefill ....
Jun 27, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: how much would that cost you?
    Jun 27, 2015 9:41 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. I have a Dakota, a Sebring, and a Grand Cherokee
    Jun 27, 2015 9:41 AM - Bill Monroe: I dunno.. it's only filament
Jun 27, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: We specialize in dodge, chrysler, jeep, he is uber certified in all.
Jun 27, 2015 9:43 AM - Bill Monroe: what a great gig.. scanning naked wimmen
Jun 27, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Glass: are they scanned or modeled?
Jun 27, 2015 9:44 AM - Bill Monroe: lets see the Dakota is an 07, 80K miles so it's got another 100K before it needs air in the tires :)
Jun 27, 2015 9:44 AM - Bill Monroe: not sure... this one has a awfully big butt for a fitness model so it's either modeled or scanned/modified
    Jun 27, 2015 9:45 AM - Bill Monroe: it fit's modeled, it's nice wok
    Jun 27, 2015 9:45 AM - Bill Monroe: work

Jun 27, 2015 9:46 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 wont give it up
Jun 27, 2015 9:47 AM - Bill Monroe: if it was reasonable, I'd drop a new engine in it.. she's seen the new ones and doesnt lik them
Jun 27, 2015 9:48 AM - Bill Monroe: lemmw run the lady through S3D and ses what it will take...
    Jun 27, 2015 9:52 AM - Bill Monroe: 6 hours, $4.78
Jun 27, 2015 9:54 AM - donhuevo: it's funny how long it takes to build a house and how fast a backhoe can take one down
Jun 27, 2015 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: @don. Just that one day when someone cried to MK
    Jun 27, 2015 10:24 AM - donhuevo: I totally missed that

Jun 27, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: its working now
Jun 27, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: blue bronzefill?
Jun 27, 2015 10:41 AM - Bill Monroe: heh i had it in the machine, probably not enough left.. figured i'd try it and see before using the more expensive stuff
Jun 27, 2015 10:44 AM - donhuevo: ya MG, it kinda did!
    Jun 27, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Kelly: afternoon

Jun 27, 2015 11:17 AM - donhuevo: I'm aight. can't speak for the rest of these bastards
Jun 27, 2015 11:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i should probably do something, but motivation....
    Jun 27, 2015 11:20 AM - donhuevo: i'm conceiving my end gantries
Jun 27, 2015 11:23 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess i'll do some design work
Jun 27, 2015 11:32 AM - Sims Reaper: Heya guys
    Jun 27, 2015 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: howdy
Jun 27, 2015 11:33 AM - Sims Reaper: Been on days off here and had my printer going almost non=stop. Actually burnt my way through my first whole filament spool.
    Jun 27, 2015 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: congrats
    Jun 27, 2015 11:34 AM - donhuevo: nice!
    Jun 27, 2015 11:34 AM - Sims Reaper: [IMG]
Jun 27, 2015 11:35 AM - Sims Reaper: I actually tried some really thin, like 1mm thick strips...., to abs glue on and I can fill in the small areas left with bondo using those strips as support. Seems like its gonna work great
Jun 27, 2015 11:36 AM - Sims Reaper: Also digging that hex infill. don't know if its realy strong at all, but it looks good. lol[IMG]
Jun 27, 2015 11:45 AM - Sims Reaper: My fiancee is also starting to get slightly upset at the cleanliness of my "geek cave". And she does have a point, it need a cleaning. [IMG]
Jun 27, 2015 11:45 AM - donhuevo: which of you came up with 'geek cave'?
Jun 27, 2015 11:47 AM - Sims Reaper: she did lol, of course... but she's actually the one who got me the big Superman cutout, so, I told her she just as guilty
    Jun 27, 2015 11:49 AM - donhuevo: haha
Jun 27, 2015 11:54 AM - Mike Kelly: hex fil is purely aesthetic
Jun 27, 2015 11:55 AM - Stephen Capistron: You could make a nice drill bit holder with it to make it more than aesthetic
Jun 27, 2015 11:56 AM - Stephen Capistron: Just figure out what % holds a 1/4" hex shank
Jun 27, 2015 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: good call
Jun 27, 2015 11:57 AM - Mike Kelly: in that case it would be functional
    Jun 27, 2015 11:57 AM - Stephen Capistron: :D
Jun 27, 2015 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: draft angles are the most annoying thing about design for IM
    Jun 27, 2015 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: Hello fellas

Jun 27, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Glass: suppose to be in the 100's this weekend
Jun 27, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh gross
Jun 27, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: that can stay up north
    Jun 27, 2015 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: M4?
    Jun 27, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: m4's probably good
Jun 27, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Glass: Air is on, just dont want to work in the shop when its that hot out.
Jun 27, 2015 12:08 PM - Mike Kelly: what do the guides use
    Jun 27, 2015 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: I have down to m3
Jun 27, 2015 12:09 PM - Stephen Capistron: Always do your draft angles second to last
    Jun 27, 2015 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: Tom suggests m4
    Jun 27, 2015 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: Thingiverse says m8
Jun 27, 2015 12:10 PM - donhuevo: who is more believable? a website or a dude with a german accent?
Jun 27, 2015 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: go with tom
    Jun 27, 2015 12:11 PM - jbigler1986: Internet is always right. Duh
Jun 27, 2015 12:15 PM - donhuevo: we just had some sort of Noreaster come thru. It's only 64
Jun 27, 2015 12:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: Adding draft is super easy with direct modelling ;)
Jun 27, 2015 12:19 PM - Mike Kelly: it's not the complexities involved in adding the draft, it's the complexities that come about because of the draft
Jun 27, 2015 12:20 PM - Mike Kelly: since now you're working against a degree or 2 isntead of flat face
Jun 27, 2015 12:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: That's why you almost have to add them last
Jun 27, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah though that often is more effort
Jun 27, 2015 12:24 PM - Stephen Capistron: I don't even remember how the actual draft feature in SW functions anymore
Jun 27, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: well you can either define it in the extrusion from the start
Jun 27, 2015 12:24 PM - Stephen Capistron: I used to do it the easy way by adding a draft angle to the extrusion
Jun 27, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: or theres a draft tool where you select the pull face and then the faces that need drafts
Jun 27, 2015 12:24 PM - Mike Kelly: it's about 50/50 it actually generates the draft properly
Jun 27, 2015 12:25 PM - Stephen Capistron: Then I got put in a spot where i had to learn direct modelling and had an, "OMG this is way easier to do at the end" moment
    Jun 27, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha
Jun 27, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i wish catia was more affordable
Jun 27, 2015 12:26 PM - Stephen Capistron: I had a model that started getting all sorts of wacky angles like 87.89324 because I was drafting off of drafted surfaces and it got totally botched
    Jun 27, 2015 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: ouch
Jun 27, 2015 12:26 PM - Stephen Capistron: Wound up having to start over
Jun 27, 2015 1:44 PM - Mike Glass: that would suck
Jun 27, 2015 2:03 PM - Mike Glass: too hot to work in the shop, im bored.
Jun 27, 2015 2:03 PM - donhuevo: sorry to hear that
Jun 27, 2015 2:04 PM - Mike Kelly: got my first 3d hubs order
    Jun 27, 2015 2:05 PM - donhuevo: cool!
Jun 27, 2015 2:05 PM - donhuevo: make sure and litter it with hidden costs and fees
Jun 27, 2015 2:06 PM - Mike Kelly: oh 3d hubs manages that part
Jun 27, 2015 2:06 PM - Mike Glass: nice, how big is the print
    Jun 27, 2015 2:07 PM - donhuevo: hopefully they don't want a Yoda bust
    Jun 27, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a fan bracket
Jun 27, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Kelly: real easy print
Jun 27, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Kelly: also i'd reject any yoda bust :p_
    Jun 27, 2015 2:23 PM - jbigler1986: hmm. wonder if i can print a stepper shaft adapter
    Jun 27, 2015 2:24 PM - jbigler1986: or buy some space/coupler that will work
Jun 27, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Glass: can you spot the yoda? [IMG]
    Jun 27, 2015 2:28 PM - donhuevo: unmistakable
Jun 27, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Glass: I actually using my printer today, printing those holders you linked earlier:)
    Jun 27, 2015 2:36 PM - jbigler1986: where is it?
Jun 27, 2015 2:36 PM - Mike Glass: right by the beer caddy
    Jun 27, 2015 2:37 PM - jbigler1986: i was kidding
    Jun 27, 2015 2:37 PM - jbigler1986: printing the hobbmaker parts now
Jun 27, 2015 2:40 PM - Mike Glass: haha what revision is this now?

    Jun 27, 2015 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: Its to make a hobbed bolt for a 2nd gregs wade
    Jun 27, 2015 2:52 PM - jbigler1986: Just caught a filament snag. Close one
Jun 27, 2015 2:59 PM - Mike Glass: need a switch that pauses a print or stops a print if tension is to tight, gotta be an easy way of doing that.
Jun 27, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Kelly: do you think stepper motor wire noise is enough to cause my thermistor signal to jump around
    Jun 27, 2015 3:03 PM - donhuevo: nope
Jun 27, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: ok then it must be something physical
Jun 27, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: cannot make it jump around by hand
Jun 27, 2015 3:03 PM - donhuevo: if you have a spare thermistor, try that
Jun 27, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Glass: maybe in your connector?
    Jun 27, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jun 27, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Glass: to bad you cant get those in gold plate pins
Jun 27, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah this has taught me a lot about proper wire positions
Jun 27, 2015 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: Should have bought one that you could have just spliced
    Jun 27, 2015 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: I have had 0 issues with mine
Jun 27, 2015 3:21 PM - jbigler1986: Let someone else do the hard work for you
Jun 27, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: true that
Jun 27, 2015 3:22 PM - Mike Kelly: do not like hot days
Jun 27, 2015 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: Its 70 here today. Really nice. Been hot and humid as hell lately though
Jun 27, 2015 3:26 PM - Mike Kelly: just makes it torture to be in the garage for very long
Jun 27, 2015 3:26 PM - Mike Glass: WHat would make my spherebot slow down, it seems to start off really fast and then slows down half way through?
Jun 27, 2015 3:27 PM - donhuevo: maybe some sort of 'look-ahead' it's run out of?
Jun 27, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Glass: or maybe the wierd software you use with it.
Jun 27, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Glass: I notice if I dont close it after running it for a few prints it always slow till I reopen then its fine again.hmm
    Jun 27, 2015 3:31 PM - jbigler1986: Uhhh. Thats odd
Jun 27, 2015 3:35 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe it's latency in the connection
Jun 27, 2015 3:36 PM - Mike Glass: same connection I use for the robo
Jun 27, 2015 3:39 PM - daniel871: Is Don around? I was wanting to double check my firmware acceleration changes before committing them. [IMG]
Jun 27, 2015 3:40 PM - donhuevo: yep. shouldn't hurt anything to try
    Jun 27, 2015 3:40 PM - donhuevo: I think you'll be happy
Jun 27, 2015 3:41 PM - Stephen Capistron: I run at 1000 for acceleration. Seems ok
Jun 27, 2015 3:41 PM - daniel871: It had 10000 in there before for some reason.
    Jun 27, 2015 3:42 PM - daniel871: For what I assume are the X & Y acceleration values.
Jun 27, 2015 3:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: You need to change the default acceleration, not the max
    Jun 27, 2015 3:42 PM - donhuevo: I changed all three
Jun 27, 2015 3:44 PM - daniel871: To be clear, the acceleration value won't limit the actual speeds, just how hard the Robo tries to get there, right?
Jun 27, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Glass: here it is in action.
Jun 27, 2015 3:45 PM - donhuevo: how it behaves approaching and leaving a direction change
    Jun 27, 2015 3:46 PM - daniel871: I'll give it a shot.
Jun 27, 2015 3:46 PM - daniel871: After the current print is done.
    Jun 27, 2015 3:48 PM - donhuevo: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/donhuevo-s-robo3d
Jun 27, 2015 3:48 PM - daniel871: Question: Right now I only have full spools of Cinnamon and Grass Green filament in regular PLA, then there is Bronzefill and the Glowfill PLA filaments. Which one would probably look best for that Squid Attack thing now that I'm fairly confident my Robo will print without f-ing up now?
Jun 27, 2015 3:49 PM - daniel871: Knowing that I'll have to tune the temps for the Bronzefill if I attempt it?
Jun 27, 2015 3:49 PM - Mike Kelly: bronzefill would be pretty cool for that
Jun 27, 2015 3:50 PM - daniel871: I'm leaning that way myself, just not sure if it'll act like that stupid Protopasta SST filament and clog nearly immediately after the base layer is down.
Jun 27, 2015 3:54 PM - daniel871: Do I do anything special for Bronzefill or just treat it like PLA?
    Jun 27, 2015 3:54 PM - daniel871: And sand/polish it up after?
Jun 27, 2015 3:54 PM - Mike Kelly: for sure
Jun 27, 2015 3:55 PM - daniel871: Ok, Bronzefill Squid Attack will be next, then.
Jun 27, 2015 3:57 PM - daniel871: Already posted with the same PLA profile I'm using for the current print so everything should look good.
Jun 27, 2015 4:05 PM - donhuevo: I liked what that guy did tumbling his parts for 8 hrs with a bunch of brass screws
Jun 27, 2015 4:05 PM - Mike Kelly: for sure
Jun 27, 2015 4:05 PM - Mike Kelly: then weather it so it looks like it's been near the sea
    Jun 27, 2015 4:06 PM - donhuevo: it's a squid. you'd have to
Jun 27, 2015 4:08 PM - Stephen Capistron: Youmagine had the plans for the 5 gallon tumbler ...
Jun 27, 2015 4:09 PM - jbigler1986: what cad genius can make me an adapter for this 8mm bore drive gear? just want to test it
    Jun 27, 2015 4:10 PM - donhuevo: you need a 6mm id, 8mm od sleeve?
    Jun 27, 2015 4:10 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Jun 27, 2015 4:11 PM - Stephen Capistron: Oh you can do that
Jun 27, 2015 4:11 PM - jbigler1986: with a hole for the set screw on the drive gear if you can
Jun 27, 2015 4:11 PM - jbigler1986: probably. soldering at the moment though
Jun 27, 2015 4:12 PM - donhuevo: what's the height of the hob and how far up that height is the grub screw center?
    Jun 27, 2015 4:14 PM - jbigler1986: height/length of the hob is 13mm
    Jun 27, 2015 4:14 PM - jbigler1986: to center of the screw its 9.15mm
Jun 27, 2015 4:17 PM - donhuevo: like this? [IMG]
    Jun 27, 2015 4:18 PM - jbigler1986: That looks good.
Jun 27, 2015 4:19 PM - jbigler1986: I tightend it on there and it was nice and snug. Just not centered at all. Lol

Jun 27, 2015 4:30 PM - donhuevo: gantries for the core xy
    Jun 27, 2015 4:30 PM - jbigler1986: For the new printer?
    Jun 27, 2015 4:31 PM - donhuevo: yep
Jun 27, 2015 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly: does anyone happen to know if usb 3.0 allows for more usb 2.0 devices/bandwidth
Jun 27, 2015 4:35 PM - jbigler1986: Pretty sure it still depends on the controller
Jun 27, 2015 4:36 PM - jbigler1986: Good mobos you can get pretty cheap these days
Jun 27, 2015 4:38 PM - donhuevo: printing these jb [IMG]
    Jun 27, 2015 4:39 PM - jbigler1986: Nice. Blah support material needed
    Jun 27, 2015 4:39 PM - donhuevo: for what?
    Jun 27, 2015 4:40 PM - jbigler1986: The one on the right
Jun 27, 2015 4:40 PM - donhuevo: no... that's the first two pieces assembled
Jun 27, 2015 4:40 PM - donhuevo: Mike would be proud. I'm using hardware!
    Jun 27, 2015 4:41 PM - Mike Kelly: whoa
Jun 27, 2015 4:41 PM - donhuevo: yep. going to use 5mm heat set nuts in the corners
Jun 27, 2015 4:42 PM - jbigler1986: There was a while when i didnt want to use hardware. Im ok with it
Jun 27, 2015 4:43 PM - donhuevo: I still like to keep it to a minimum
Jun 27, 2015 4:43 PM - jbigler1986: Me too. Just saying that im with it if needed
Jun 27, 2015 4:44 PM - jbigler1986: MK what are you up to
Jun 27, 2015 4:44 PM - Mike Kelly: just finished my 3d hubs order
Jun 27, 2015 4:45 PM - Mike Kelly: do you have people come to your house to get it or meet them?
Jun 27, 2015 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: Depends if its worth it to meet them or not
Jun 27, 2015 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: If it was a cheap part i would have them come to my house
    Jun 27, 2015 4:47 PM - Mike Kelly: i think he's just a local college kid
Jun 27, 2015 4:48 PM - Mike Kelly: from india

    Jun 27, 2015 4:49 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jun 27, 2015 4:50 PM - donhuevo: even better... meet him in your parent's basement
Jun 27, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Kelly: so home?
    Jun 27, 2015 4:51 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
Jun 27, 2015 4:55 PM - donhuevo: is your adapter printed yet?
    Jun 27, 2015 4:56 PM - jbigler1986: No. Hobbedmaker has 10 minutes left
Jun 27, 2015 4:58 PM - Mike Kelly: apparently 3d hubs gives them my address
Jun 27, 2015 5:00 PM - Mike Glass: haha sucka I have your address now
Jun 27, 2015 5:02 PM - Mike Kelly: he was driving an infinity g37x, i think i'll be ok
    Jun 27, 2015 5:03 PM - donhuevo: fan bracket for a 3d printer?
    Jun 27, 2015 5:03 PM - Mike Kelly: for a computer
Jun 27, 2015 5:03 PM - donhuevo: good. you don't want to be helping your competition with their 3d printers
    Jun 27, 2015 5:04 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Jun 27, 2015 5:08 PM - donhuevo: bill's naked lady is almost done
Jun 27, 2015 5:09 PM - Mike Kelly: don has a webcam in their bedroom
    Jun 27, 2015 5:10 PM - donhuevo: yes I do! http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
    Jun 27, 2015 5:10 PM - Mike Kelly: i see lines
    Jun 27, 2015 5:10 PM - donhuevo: pretty sure he did .2
    Jun 27, 2015 5:12 PM - donhuevo: please don't confuse that with 2.0
    Jun 27, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Glass: effin 102 out
    Jun 27, 2015 6:04 PM - donhuevo: ouch
Jun 27, 2015 6:06 PM - Mike Glass: had to go outside to kill the wasp nest we had
    Jun 27, 2015 6:19 PM - Mike Glass: ok
Jun 27, 2015 6:24 PM - daniel871: Man, Arnold has been killing it lately. [IMG]
Jun 27, 2015 6:25 PM - Bill Monroe: wouldnt it be funny if he gets all the wires cut and discovers they're too short :)
Jun 27, 2015 6:26 PM - daniel871: Glad it rained today, knocked the pollen levels down and cooled things off.
    Jun 27, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Kelly: community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/printed-fishing-rod.6024p
Jun 27, 2015 6:28 PM - daniel871: I saw that on Thingiverse, but kept thinking there was no way it would actually work when catching a fish on it.
Jun 27, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Kelly: never know till you try :)
Jun 27, 2015 6:32 PM - Bill Monroe: rained here too... now it's cool and breezy
Jun 27, 2015 6:33 PM - Bill Monroe: naked lady looks better than on video but still disappointing.. something's off with the model, slices wierd
    Jun 27, 2015 6:35 PM - jbigler1986: Gotta print a spacer for this hobbedmaker for m4 tap
    Jun 27, 2015 6:36 PM - Mike Glass: interesting
    Jun 27, 2015 6:53 PM - daniel871: Fuck.
Jun 27, 2015 6:53 PM - daniel871: 25 hours into a print and the Robo just faults out and stops for no reason.
Jun 27, 2015 6:54 PM - daniel871: Good thing I was sitting here because it was still heating the nozzle and melting the place where it had stopped.
    Jun 27, 2015 6:56 PM - daniel871: Argh!
Jun 27, 2015 7:00 PM - jbigler1986: Man you need to baby your robo. She will treat you good
Jun 27, 2015 7:00 PM - jbigler1986: You have been having a lot of bad voodoo on that thing
Jun 27, 2015 7:15 PM - daniel871: Like everything else, as soon as you brag about it something will stop working.
Jun 27, 2015 7:17 PM - daniel871: Poor Sappho looks like a Hannibal Lecter victim.
Jun 27, 2015 7:20 PM - daniel871: I wonder if there was some kind of error because of how tall the model was. The Wade extruder was about halfway up inside the top portion of the casing.
Jun 27, 2015 7:21 PM - daniel871: Had more threaded rod to go, but the stock wiring cable thing was all bunched up above it.
Jun 27, 2015 7:22 PM - Mike Glass: I have taken mine till the wades was like 1/4 inch from the top.
Jun 27, 2015 7:23 PM - Mike Glass: but i had to move the wire manually to make sure it didnt catch
Jun 27, 2015 7:23 PM - daniel871: Can't really get to it with the safety enclosure.
    Jun 27, 2015 7:23 PM - daniel871: Hm.
Jun 27, 2015 7:24 PM - Mike Glass: I used a rubber band on the wire and ran it through the top so I could move it from there.
Jun 27, 2015 7:24 PM - jbigler1986: Don that spacer looks like it will work. Havent actually plugged it in to test yet
Jun 27, 2015 7:25 PM - daniel871: Doing a basic lithophane print with the filament left on the spool right now using Don's acceleration changes. Probably won't get a good test until I do the Squid Attack print though.
Jun 27, 2015 7:26 PM - daniel871: Guess I need to do that link chain mod I've seen some folks have done.
Jun 27, 2015 7:27 PM - jbigler1986: I dont like that. I used expandable sleeving. 0 issues. Gives it more flexibility
Jun 27, 2015 7:29 PM - daniel871: Something that can be bought on Amazon?
    Jun 27, 2015 7:30 PM - daniel871: Oh, duh, that stuff.
    Jun 27, 2015 7:30 PM - daniel871: What diameter?
Jun 27, 2015 7:30 PM - donhuevo: fingers crossed jb
Jun 27, 2015 7:32 PM - jbigler1986: Need to print a spacer for this hobbed maker. M4 tap is to small for the 8mm ID of the bearings. Sluts
    Jun 27, 2015 7:34 PM - daniel871: Hm.
    Jun 27, 2015 7:34 PM - daniel871: What about a combination of this: http://www.amazon.com/Entry-Cable-Braided-Sleeving-Fastener/dp/B00FQR8XEW
    Jun 27, 2015 7:34 PM - daniel871: And this: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:844879
Jun 27, 2015 7:34 PM - daniel871: The printed thing to hold it up the side of the casing and then let the rest hang down to the extruder.
Jun 27, 2015 7:36 PM - jbigler1986: Not sure how flexible that stuff is.
Jun 27, 2015 7:37 PM - donhuevo: this guy has a nice wire chain solution
    Jun 27, 2015 7:37 PM - donhuevo:
Jun 27, 2015 7:38 PM - jbigler1986: I just like that i can pretty much move the wires wherever i need to
    Jun 27, 2015 7:38 PM - daniel871: That's the chain I was looking at before.
Jun 27, 2015 7:40 PM - jbigler1986: I move stuff around alot. I have been messing with my printer a lot lately
Jun 27, 2015 7:43 PM - donhuevo: I printed one for my y axis but because I run topless, didn't bother with the x [IMG]
    Jun 27, 2015 7:44 PM - jbigler1986: Y axis i would have no problems doing it
    Jun 27, 2015 7:55 PM - jbigler1986: Printing hobb spacer
Jun 27, 2015 7:55 PM - jbigler1986: I will test the new drive gear before the night is over
Jun 27, 2015 7:56 PM - donhuevo: my fingers are cramping because of how long I've had them crossed
    Jun 27, 2015 8:19 PM - jbigler1986: Sorry
Jun 27, 2015 8:20 PM - jbigler1986: Gotta print the modified extruder. I thought i printed it esrlier but i guess not
    Jun 27, 2015 8:23 PM - donhuevo: well shit
    Jun 27, 2015 8:23 PM - jbigler1986: 44 minutes
    Jun 27, 2015 8:24 PM - donhuevo: k... watching Bradley Vargas. I'll be up a while
    Jun 27, 2015 8:25 PM - jbigler1986: K

Jun 27, 2015 9:15 PM - donhuevo: and? then? so?
Jun 27, 2015 10:00 PM - jbigler1986: Got busy. Everything is printed and installed. Just need to solder this 4 pin connector for swapping steppers
Jun 28, 2015 3:27 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Jun 28, 2015 4:36 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
    Jun 28, 2015 4:50 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
Jun 28, 2015 4:52 AM - jbigler1986: Can dual extruders have different esteps? Or they jave to be the same
Jun 28, 2015 4:52 AM - Bill Monroe: sure, they can be different.
Jun 28, 2015 4:53 AM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. Do i have to add another axis to the firmware?
Jun 28, 2015 4:54 AM - Bill Monroe: i thought there was already an E1 in there
Jun 28, 2015 4:55 AM - Bill Monroe: hang on.. gotta reboot
    Jun 28, 2015 4:55 AM - jbigler1986: But for esteps? There are only x, y, z, e
Jun 28, 2015 5:07 AM - Printed Solid: I'm not sure how that is handled. Have heard others ask the question before. I'm guessing mr kelly will know.
    Jun 28, 2015 5:08 AM - daniel871: T0 and T1 designations probably.
Jun 28, 2015 5:09 AM - daniel871: Because the software thinks of the hot ends as tools the way other Cnc machines are assigned bits.
Jun 28, 2015 5:11 AM - jbigler1986: Seems as though it can be done in the gcode for tool change. Was just bopping there was a way in the firmware
    Jun 28, 2015 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: Hoping*
Jun 28, 2015 5:18 AM - daniel871: The firmware end would probably be describing your x/y offsets from one nozzle to the other.
Jun 28, 2015 5:19 AM - daniel871: That or a custom machine in S3D that has it in there.
    Jun 28, 2015 5:19 AM - jbigler1986: I need to get some 2 pin jumper connectors first
Jun 28, 2015 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: the short (but still too long) time that I had a dual machine, I had identical extruders so I cant recall if it's possible to tweak them individually, but I do know that some run one direct and one bowden
Jun 28, 2015 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: if you cant tune them individually, that would see like an even more lost cause then running duals
Jun 28, 2015 5:23 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah i think they are trying to add it into a nee version of marlin.
Jun 28, 2015 5:25 AM - jbigler1986: I have a new hobbed bolt on the way for dual gregs. Was just seeing if there was a way to do them individually since i have gregs wade and another extruder that works at the moment. Oh well
Jun 28, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: Mother's Double Fudge Cookies should be illegal.
Jun 28, 2015 6:10 AM - Stephen Capistron: Could you trick it by having different extrusion multipliers for each color / filament in the slicer?
    Jun 28, 2015 7:03 AM - donhuevo: morning
    Jun 28, 2015 7:03 AM - Bill Monroe: don
    Jun 28, 2015 7:04 AM - donhuevo: howdy bill
    Jun 28, 2015 8:05 AM - jbigler1986: Don
    Jun 28, 2015 8:06 AM - donhuevo: jb
Jun 28, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: sc, yeah you can change the multiplier to where you would need it in the slicer
    Jun 28, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: The spacer worked
Jun 28, 2015 8:06 AM - donhuevo: not too much work to get it to fit?
Jun 28, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: Nope. Needed to file the ID a tiny bit. Other than that it works good.
    Jun 28, 2015 8:07 AM - donhuevo: cool
    Jun 28, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jun 28, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: This is what i went with until i get the stuff i need for dual
    Jun 28, 2015 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jun 28, 2015 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: I like my bowden arc
    Jun 28, 2015 8:10 AM - donhuevo: yep
Jun 28, 2015 8:10 AM - donhuevo: the spacer was to get the mk7 to fit onto the geared stepper though, right?
    Jun 28, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: mornin
    Jun 28, 2015 8:13 AM - donhuevo: morning mike
Jun 28, 2015 8:13 AM - Mike Glass: it was nice to actually get 8 hours of sleep
Jun 28, 2015 8:14 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. It worked. Put gregs wade back on bc i didnt feel like calibrating and playing with the geared stepper at the moment
Jun 28, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: now its already hot out..ugg
Jun 28, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Glass: I like that platform on the carriage, looks cool
Jun 28, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: didnt realize you put on a connector
Jun 28, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Glass: was that prewired?
    Jun 28, 2015 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah the connecter was. I spliced it
Jun 28, 2015 8:20 AM - Mike Glass: sweet where did you get it.
    Jun 28, 2015 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: Frys
    Jun 28, 2015 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: It was just a 8pin atx power supply extender
    Jun 28, 2015 8:26 AM - jbigler1986: I havent been documenting what i have been doing lately
Jun 28, 2015 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: seems like a good idea then messing with pin crimping
    Jun 28, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: yep. haven't had any issues with it
    Jun 28, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
    Jun 28, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: 110mm/s
Jun 28, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: so double the build time, nice.
Jun 28, 2015 8:31 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Don did you see those ptfe bearings I posted yesterday?
Jun 28, 2015 8:34 AM - donhuevo: i was here all day. don't know how I missed them
    Jun 28, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Glass:
Jun 28, 2015 8:38 AM - donhuevo: those look nice. Perfect for a big machine
Jun 28, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: This is what my other cnc machine uses.
Jun 28, 2015 8:40 AM - donhuevo: very similar to the openbuilds solution
Jun 28, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: probably an arm and a leg to buy though
Jun 28, 2015 8:42 AM - donhuevo: openbuilds really isn't all that bad price-wise. Definitely NOT in IGUS's league
    Jun 28, 2015 8:43 AM - donhuevo:
Jun 28, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: looks like $120 for rail and carriage for 24" guess not that bad
Jun 28, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: Not sure i Like vslot for the price.
    Jun 28, 2015 8:46 AM - donhuevo: it's not that much money
Jun 28, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: guess there are different types or materials of vslot, I looked into it before building the cnc.
    Jun 28, 2015 8:49 AM - donhuevo: the rail comes 20x20, x40, x60 or x80
Jun 28, 2015 8:49 AM - donhuevo: depends on how beefy you need it to be I guess
Jun 28, 2015 8:50 AM - donhuevo: those eccentric spacers act like the cams on your stuff though to get just the right snugness to the rail
Jun 28, 2015 8:51 AM - Mike Glass: wonder if that redi rail would be good for speed, like on a printer.
    Jun 28, 2015 8:52 AM - donhuevo: I'm about to find out
Jun 28, 2015 8:52 AM - Mike Glass: how so?
Jun 28, 2015 8:52 AM - donhuevo: but with the openbuilds version
    Jun 28, 2015 8:53 AM - donhuevo: I'm building a core xy
Jun 28, 2015 8:53 AM - Mike Glass: guess I could take the belt of mine and see how fast it will move.
Jun 28, 2015 8:54 AM - donhuevo: the carriage mass would play into how fast it can change direction
    Jun 28, 2015 8:55 AM - donhuevo: I'm printing my own to ride on 20mm v slot
    Jun 28, 2015 8:56 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    Jun 28, 2015 8:56 AM - donhuevo: that's a lot of mass
Jun 28, 2015 8:57 AM - Mike Glass: its so effin loud, thats the only thing I dont like about it.
Jun 28, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Glass: have to lube the spindle cable, about the cut a beer caddy with real wood.
Jun 28, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: make sure my design works perfect before I license it.
Jun 28, 2015 9:00 AM - donhuevo: you know you're gonna need to build something to hold a soldering iron so you can send logo files to it and have it burn them into the handles or something
Jun 28, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Glass: Easier just to carve it with a vgroove, which this machine will do.
Jun 28, 2015 9:03 AM - donhuevo: could always upsell it as an option
Jun 28, 2015 9:04 AM - Stephen Capistron: say it is hand done too so you can charge more
Jun 28, 2015 9:04 AM - donhuevo: these guys would be all over something like that... http://northcountrybrewing.com/welcome2.htm
Jun 28, 2015 9:04 AM - donhuevo: everything in there was hand carved
Jun 28, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: I do offer that locally. For the licence that would be not an option.
Jun 28, 2015 9:06 AM - Mike Glass: its kinda strange how it works but this is just for the carvewright community, I sell to the company I up load the file, you have to purchase said licence then it downloads the license to your software, then only you can use it.
Jun 28, 2015 9:08 AM - Mike Glass: But I think they can add text to carve on any part.
Jun 28, 2015 9:09 AM - donhuevo: with all these different disciplines 3d printing mechanics are being applied to, have you seen it used for wood engraving/burning?
    Jun 28, 2015 9:11 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jun 28, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Glass: Like milling a part from wood to put on you car?

Jun 28, 2015 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: I got my plotter cutters on friday, need to make a mount and mess with those.

Jun 28, 2015 9:14 AM - donhuevo: there you go...
Jun 28, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: haha yea I guess I could try something, would be interesting for sure
    Jun 28, 2015 9:15 AM - donhuevo: imagine a lithophane file
Jun 28, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: laser would be alot faster I think and more accurate
Jun 28, 2015 9:15 AM - donhuevo: true and would give the same effect
Jun 28, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: and wouldnt have to worry about trueness
    Jun 28, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: Here's one I just finished. [IMG]
    Jun 28, 2015 9:19 AM - donhuevo: pretty
Jun 28, 2015 9:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: so wait, your whole state has one area code? :p
    Jun 28, 2015 9:19 AM - Mike Glass: yup
    Jun 28, 2015 9:19 AM - Bill Monroe: all 78 phones :)
Jun 28, 2015 9:20 AM - Mike Glass: there is company here the does really well but the use Four 0 Six for the logo.
Jun 28, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: Im sure there are more cell phones then landline phones these days.
Jun 28, 2015 9:25 AM - donhuevo: I used to do odd jobs for an old couple Rose & Jim. I remember how excited Rose was when she finally got a cell-o-phone
Jun 28, 2015 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: YES!! YAY!!!!!!!
Jun 28, 2015 9:29 AM - Bill Monroe: Elon "failed again" Musk has been very profitable for me
    Jun 28, 2015 9:50 AM - jbigler1986: getting warm outside
    Jun 28, 2015 9:54 AM - Bill Monroe: 83 here
    Jun 28, 2015 9:55 AM - donhuevo: 62 here
Jun 28, 2015 9:56 AM - jbigler1986: Only 73 here but its humid as hell. Feels like mid 80's. Humidity sucks
Jun 28, 2015 10:06 AM - Bill Monroe: Humidity here is 55% higher than usual but it feels fine
    Jun 28, 2015 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: Blah. 50 percent infill takes forever
    Jun 28, 2015 11:11 AM - Mike Glass: 50 is crazy
Jun 28, 2015 11:17 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you want more strength, more perimeters and thicker layers
Jun 28, 2015 11:20 AM - donhuevo: that's why you turn your infill speed up to 150
Jun 28, 2015 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: It needed to be a strong part. Infill is at 110. Probably gonna tedt speed next
    Jun 28, 2015 11:32 AM - Bill Monroe:
    Jun 28, 2015 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jun 28, 2015 12:05 PM - jbigler1986: Got rid of my kid's dressers. Trying to make as much stuff hidden as possible. So bought a few hanging dresser type things. Their closet didnt have a bar for it. So i made that little hanger
    Jun 28, 2015 12:06 PM - donhuevo: nicely done
    Jun 28, 2015 12:06 PM - jbigler1986: Turned out pretty good
Jun 28, 2015 12:07 PM - jbigler1986: Can shorten it some on the next one
Jun 28, 2015 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: is there a seperate option for infill speed?
Jun 28, 2015 12:13 PM - donhuevo: in Cura there is
Jun 28, 2015 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: pretty sure s3d uses default printing speed bc i don't see on option anywhere
Jun 28, 2015 12:15 PM - jbigler1986: excecpt for top and bottom layers. you can adjust that
    Jun 28, 2015 12:15 PM - donhuevo: one strike against S3D
    Jun 28, 2015 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: lol. trying 130 on this one. 110 had no issues
Jun 28, 2015 12:18 PM - donhuevo: it's the reason you went bowden.
Jun 28, 2015 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: that and my quality was the best ever. corners look the best they ever had with bowden
    Jun 28, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: a lot less inertia
    Jun 28, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: easier to stop
Jun 28, 2015 12:39 PM - daniel871: Speeds for infill are a percentage you put in where the other speed options are.
Jun 28, 2015 12:40 PM - jbigler1986: Only for solid infill. Which is top and bottom layers
    Jun 28, 2015 12:41 PM - jbigler1986: Or 100 percent infill
    Jun 28, 2015 12:44 PM - jbigler1986: 130 no issues
    Jun 28, 2015 12:50 PM - jbigler1986: Got urs printing again Daniel?

    Jun 28, 2015 1:55 PM - Mike Glass: Why .1?
    Jun 28, 2015 1:55 PM - donhuevo: oh, I'm printing .2, that's just what was selected when I snipped
Jun 28, 2015 1:56 PM - Mike Glass: aw gotcha
    Jun 28, 2015 1:56 PM - Mike Glass: ABfnS?

Jun 28, 2015 1:58 PM - Mike Glass: do you have a light in your carriage?
    Jun 28, 2015 1:58 PM - jbigler1986: U use matterhackers pla too dont you?
Jun 28, 2015 1:58 PM - donhuevo: yep. put a neopixel underneath and set it to white
Jun 28, 2015 1:58 PM - donhuevo: I won't go back to Matterhackers. The quality was there, but the price doesn't compare

    Jun 28, 2015 2:00 PM - jbigler1986: Now thats a mess. Lol

Jun 28, 2015 2:54 PM - Mike Glass: see If I can get this XT to print a simple letter.
    Jun 28, 2015 2:57 PM - donhuevo: good luck
Jun 28, 2015 2:57 PM - Mike Glass: not sure what temp to try

Jun 28, 2015 3:07 PM - donhuevo: so, given the disguise and all, it could be
Jun 28, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Glass: really hate this stuff cause you have to print painfully slow
    Jun 28, 2015 3:12 PM - donhuevo: I'm not a fan of slow
Jun 28, 2015 3:12 PM - donhuevo: slow can go fuck itself
Jun 28, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: yea I will never buy again, I did cause Barnacleaseskejrlsakj used it.
Jun 28, 2015 3:15 PM - donhuevo: I remember everyone saying it prints like PLA but you get the high temps of ABfnS
Jun 28, 2015 3:15 PM - donhuevo: blah, blah fn blah
Jun 28, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Glass: I set the first layer to 70% width and it still looks horrible.
Jun 28, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Glass: those cups for the spherebot work awesome BTW
    Jun 28, 2015 3:17 PM - donhuevo: nice!
Jun 28, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Glass: All I have to figure out is how to pause on layers so I can do color changes, I tried everything I know in marlin to pause but no go.
Jun 28, 2015 3:18 PM - donhuevo: I thought about the spherebot and thought pvc cloth might be nice to work in too
Jun 28, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Glass: ya lost me
Jun 28, 2015 3:19 PM - donhuevo: you must have some in your wood shop. throw some down on the bench and put your workpiece on it and it doesn't move
Jun 28, 2015 3:20 PM - Mike Glass: LIke tool box liner?
Jun 28, 2015 3:21 PM - donhuevo: I've been trying to google an example but yeah, I think so
Jun 28, 2015 3:21 PM - Mike Glass: I use that for sanding and routing boards, works really nice, Yeah should glue some in the centers of the cup, but I can really tighten it down with a golf ball, but an egg may be a different story.

Jun 28, 2015 3:31 PM - donhuevo: haha but seriously... what I'm about to show you is one of the most impressive acts of athleticism I've ever seen. NOT WORK SAFE...

Jun 28, 2015 3:34 PM - donhuevo: I swear one of those moves had her suspended by just her butt cheeks

Jun 28, 2015 5:37 PM - Mike Glass: imgur is fast though
Jun 28, 2015 5:38 PM - Mike Glass: at least from my internet
Jun 28, 2015 5:41 PM - daniel871: This forum is faster for me for some odd reason.
    Jun 28, 2015 5:41 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
Jun 28, 2015 5:41 PM - daniel871: Only use it like that for sharing in the shoutbox though.
Jun 28, 2015 5:42 PM - daniel871: Went for the highest detail I could, so it is a fairly slow print.
Jun 28, 2015 5:43 PM - daniel871: Well, not exactly slow, it will just take a while to finish.
    Jun 28, 2015 5:45 PM - Mike Glass: wow that is huge..lol
    Jun 28, 2015 5:45 PM - jbigler1986: got it printing again?
Jun 28, 2015 5:45 PM - Mike Glass: Hey JB
Jun 28, 2015 5:46 PM - Mike Glass: whats with all the wires
    Jun 28, 2015 5:48 PM - jbigler1986: glad i got mine cleaned up
Jun 28, 2015 5:48 PM - daniel871: Left the hotend fan wires long and havent got around to redoing them yet.
    Jun 28, 2015 5:48 PM - jbigler1986: got a pretty clean setup finally
    Jun 28, 2015 5:49 PM - daniel871: Also yeah, printing again.
Jun 28, 2015 5:49 PM - daniel871: Going to refrain from actual bragging though because it is apparently bad luck.
Jun 28, 2015 5:50 PM - jbigler1986: don if you are here still the 130mm/s part looks good. just a little hairy. that's this spool of filament though
    Jun 28, 2015 5:51 PM - donhuevo: what're your retraction settings
    Jun 28, 2015 5:52 PM - jbigler1986: 5mm@60mm/s
    Jun 28, 2015 5:52 PM - donhuevo: that's what I've got. weird.
Jun 28, 2015 5:52 PM - jbigler1986: this spool was very hairy before i went bowden or direct
    Jun 28, 2015 5:53 PM - jbigler1986: yeah its this spool.
Jun 28, 2015 5:53 PM - donhuevo: I'm still broadcasting. What I'm printing now should be super hairy but it's not
Jun 28, 2015 5:55 PM - Mike Glass: it super scary
    Jun 28, 2015 5:56 PM - jbigler1986: ?
    Jun 28, 2015 5:56 PM - donhuevo: ^
Jun 28, 2015 5:56 PM - Mike Glass: do you have the structure parts yet Don?
Jun 28, 2015 5:57 PM - donhuevo: the vslot frame?
    Jun 28, 2015 5:57 PM - Mike Glass: yea
Jun 28, 2015 5:57 PM - donhuevo: most of it. Need to order a few more sticks. Trying to decide if I want to build a door with the stuff or not
Jun 28, 2015 5:58 PM - Mike Glass: where did you order from?
Jun 28, 2015 5:58 PM - Mike Glass: show me you bum, I mean your bom
    Jun 28, 2015 5:58 PM - donhuevo: http://openbuildspartstore.com/
Jun 28, 2015 6:00 PM - donhuevo: no bom yet.
Jun 28, 2015 6:10 PM - Mike Glass: what you talking about willis
Jun 28, 2015 6:11 PM - donhuevo: well, I've made two orders so far and I'll have to make at least one more so I don't have a complete list yet
    Jun 28, 2015 6:15 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:901319 who is going to print it?
    Jun 28, 2015 6:15 PM - jbigler1986: Nvm. Not printable
Jun 28, 2015 6:24 PM - Mike Glass: slice and dice
Jun 28, 2015 6:24 PM - Mike Glass: I can print that, even with xt...lol
    Jun 28, 2015 6:37 PM - jbigler1986: What to print now.
Jun 28, 2015 6:52 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:757864 make that don. Just to do it
Jun 28, 2015 7:04 PM - donhuevo: looks like you'd need an engine lift to install it
    Jun 28, 2015 7:10 PM - daniel871: I like how that looks.
Jun 28, 2015 7:11 PM - daniel871: The robo needs more stuff like that designed for it.
Jun 28, 2015 7:12 PM - daniel871: Exactly 24 hours on this litho so far and at the 66% complete mark on the LCD display.
Jun 28, 2015 7:13 PM - daniel871: Lots of details on the eagle feathers though, so I guess it'll be worth it when its done.
Jun 28, 2015 7:13 PM - Mike Glass: How thick is it?
Jun 28, 2015 7:14 PM - daniel871: 6mm. Probably less litho and more 3d picture at this point.
    Jun 28, 2015 7:14 PM - daniel871: 4mm on actual print. Total is 6.
Jun 28, 2015 7:15 PM - daniel871: Mainly due to converting it 100mm square and really detailed, then scaling it up so the nozzle could do all of said detail.
    Jun 28, 2015 7:16 PM - daniel871: (Because the same settings on a 200mm square kept crashing).
Jun 28, 2015 7:21 PM - Mike Glass: what resolution?
Jun 28, 2015 7:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: If s3d is crashing when it goes to give you the preview it can still slice it, but the preview is just too intense for you computer to operate.
Jun 28, 2015 7:33 PM - Stephen Capistron: I've disable the preview because my PC crashes with even a simple cube. I just get a pop up to save the gcode and launch it with repetier
Jun 28, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Glass: I run mine on an 9 year old laptop fine.
Jun 28, 2015 7:37 PM - daniel871: No, the litho generator was crashing. S3D was fine.
Jun 28, 2015 7:38 PM - daniel871: I havent had any luck with the import image to 3d thing.
Jun 28, 2015 7:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: We'll my newer than 9 year old must really suck then
Jun 28, 2015 7:41 PM - Mike Glass: mine is a xps from dell, was like 2.5K new
Jun 28, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Glass: Printing new mounts for the cnc, he came out with adjustable legs. woot

Jun 28, 2015 at 10:47 PM - pclabtech: I tried printing with Robo3D version of wood filament... I think my hexagon head is clogged, what's the best way to unclog it?
Jun 28, 2015 at 10:58 PM - Mike Glass: turn it up to 250 for like 10 min
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:25 AM - jbigler1986: Gooood morning
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:31 AM - daniel871: Morning.
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:32 AM - daniel871: I'm thinking 250 for 10 minutes on a woodfill will basically seal that hotend up.
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:33 AM - daniel871: Because of the wood fibers cooking/burning instead of the plastic melting out like normal.
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:33 AM - daniel871: Also has anyone had problems with communications failing between the SD card and the printer during long prints?
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:35 AM - daniel871: Googling about what happened last night points to there being something about ASCII mode vs Binary being the problem, but I have no idea how to fix that or determine what the printer is currently doing on the controller.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:49 AM - jbigler1986: i have not had that issue
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:51 AM - daniel871: The reprap forums I was reading about the error had the people that did have the same problem end up replacing all of the controller boards before the issue was fixed.
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:52 AM - daniel871: Difference was their prints were failing in the same way within the first 30 minutes instead of 24 hours plus into a print.
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:57 AM - daniel871: Kind of bugs me because the print that was running looked really good, too.
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:00 AM - jbigler1986: So they had to replace the ramps and lcd?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 4:00 AM - daniel871: replace the ramps, yeah.
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:03 AM - daniel871: Kind of weird in that it behaves like a power surge in stopping the printer, but the program is still "in memory" because I have to use the LCD to "Stop Program" before the printer lets me do anything else.
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:05 AM - Stephen Capistron: Start with making sure your connections on your LCD are good and tight
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:09 AM - daniel871: Would they work loose after being connected for over a month?
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:10 AM - daniel871: The actual LCD end of the line is soldered on, and the bottom cover of the robo is sort of holding the cable in place.
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:11 AM - daniel871: I'll be leaving to run some errands before an appointment in a few minutes so I won't have a chance to dismantle the robo and check inside until this evening.
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:12 AM - Stephen Capistron: The printer vibrates a lot and you'd be surprised what continuous vibration can do to things
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:13 AM - daniel871: If it slides off that easily I'm going to be rolling my eyes hard enough to get a headache.
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:14 AM - daniel871: Running another Marvin right now just to see if it'll stall out and have my hand on the case and there is no perceived vibration even though the head is making it's usual chirping and gear clacking noises.
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:17 AM - Stephen Capistron: I've seen weird stuff happen with more durable goods. Keep in mind all the boards in the robo are made in china and as cheaply as possible
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:21 AM - daniel871: Where would I get a good not cheaply made replacement board to put the current firmware on?
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: adafruit
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: made in brooklyn I believe

Jun 29, 2015 at 4:42 AM - daniel871: ReprapWorld has a shpeel about upgrading to Megatronics and running the regular firmware on it, but I still have the same problem of figuring out a kit.

Jun 29, 2015 at 6:05 AM - JeffTheMess: If Fast Food Commercials Were Honest
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning everyone
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:16 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:20 AM - WheresWaldo: What are we all working on today?
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:21 AM - Stephen Capistron: Nothing, but I'm willing to take suggestions
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:22 AM - JeffTheMess: I've been looking for a data sheet that doesn't exist apparently
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: oh, that sounds like fun
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:23 AM - Stephen Capistron: what in particular are you looking to know?
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:23 AM - WheresWaldo: I'm going to reprint MK's X Carriage with mods for the R1 as well as a pedestal for a cable roller chain.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:23 AM - WheresWaldo: I also want to know who has printed plastic versions of LM8UU and which ones they settled on.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:25 AM - JeffTheMess: extended shaft dc motor I have. I pulled out of some junk I had awhile ago. :) so yeah almost impossible
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: I wound up drawing my own that were just a series of inward facing splines
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:25 AM - WheresWaldo: I broke one of mine and even though Amazon is delivering a set today, I figured now was the time to do a bit of experimenting.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: I really don't like those cheap linear bearings, the balls come out of the race super easy
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:26 AM - WheresWaldo: I printed out like twenty different ones from Thingiverse and having a bit of a time deciding which one I want to use.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:26 AM - Stephen Capistron: Problem I ran into when drawing my own was filling the spline with material so I would suggest 1 perimeter w/ 100% infill
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:27 AM - WheresWaldo: SC, that is exactly what happened to mine, tiny balls all over, it was like a tiny Elvis convention.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: Ones with curved splines will self center a bit better, but might not work too well for horizontal applications
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:28 AM - Stephen Capistron: I'm sure the ones from Misumi are better, but I'm not sure they are worth the cost
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:29 AM - WheresWaldo: I am too, but it is highly doubtful that Robo used anything other than the least expensive Chinese LM8UU bearings.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:30 AM - Stephen Capistron: highly doubtful guaranteed
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:30 AM - Stephen Capistron: ;)
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Using the Misumi would be like pearls on a pig.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: Right, you better buy better shafts to go with those and maybe some 8020 for a proper frame
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Might as well start from the bottom up and replace the RAMPS setup with a Smoothieboard too!
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: now you are talking
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: When I build my own version of a Kraken based Ultimaker then I will consider all those options.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:35 AM - Stephen Capistron: Though I thought I read somewhere that the smoothie kind of struggles with making arcs
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: If it does, that would be a firmware issue likely resolved at some point in time. Its not like Marlin does everything perfect either.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Imagine a Kraken with 4 Volcanos :)
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: One thing I just thought of with regards to printed bearings, they might work better if you could print them well horizontally
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: 4 volcano cyclopses
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Sadly Cyclops is 2 in 1 out, so no volcano for you. :(
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: Make your own block
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:41 AM - donhuevo: that would be a plastic pooping machine
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Not a machinist, don't know how, and its one of those things not on my list to learn.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: They are just M6 threads
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: Have a job shop make your own block then
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: But doesn't the cyclops mix in the hotend, so it's 2 in at the nozzle, not a simple endeavor, would be easier with a Chimera
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: Right. I'm not being serious though. 8 different filaments is unnecessary.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Of course now your kidding, who wouldn't want eight simultaneous filament extrusions.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:47 AM - donhuevo: you could print rainbows
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:47 AM - JeffTheMess: if you need a different filament...your doing it wrong
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:49 AM - WheresWaldo: I am thinking I could go on the cheap and zip tie four of these together http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&ke...vptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_82gqqoww5t_b
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Gotta go print some prototype parts that will eventually end up in my Shapeways store, provided they actually work correctly.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: See you all later.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:54 AM - JeffTheMess: see ya
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:05 AM - JeffTheMess: anyone speak Chinese?
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:07 AM - donhuevo: I can understand english with a thick Chinese accent. that's about it.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:07 AM - JeffTheMess: impressive :)
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: someone is a regular at the local chinese takeout place
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:08 AM - donhuevo: I delivered for them a long time ago
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:09 AM - JeffTheMess: only data I found on my motor is in chinese
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:09 AM - donhuevo: is it a webpage google might be able to translate?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:10 AM - JeffTheMess: it's a wierd pdf thing
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:10 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.docin.com/p-469381219.html
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:11 AM - JeffTheMess: google translate will do everything else but the thing I need
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:12 AM - JeffTheMess: I just want to know the torque how much I can expect from it
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:13 AM - JeffTheMess: if im wasting my time or not
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:13 AM - JeffTheMess: I know SC sent me a motor before but this was free :)
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: I have plugins blocked on my browser and I don't trust that site
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: whether either of those things is rational is debatable

Jun 29, 2015 at 7:39 AM - Bill Monroe: that was wierd
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:40 AM - jbigler1986: life is weird sometimes
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:41 AM - donhuevo: hey fellas
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Bill Monroe: don
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:42 AM - jbigler1986: morning don
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:43 AM - donhuevo: when are we testing your geared stepper jb?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:43 AM - jbigler1986: i can tonight.
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:44 AM - jbigler1986: the 5mm drive gears will be here today. not sure which ones i should actually test with
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:44 AM - donhuevo: what's the difference in hob diameters?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:44 AM - donhuevo: sorry, can't remember
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:45 AM - jbigler1986: between the ones arriving today and the 8mm bore ones?
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:45 AM - donhuevo: and the original that kept jamming
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: howdy
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:46 AM - donhuevo: miguel!
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:46 AM - jbigler1986: jamming one is 11 mm
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:47 AM - donhuevo: and the ones with the 8mm bore?
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:47 AM - Mike Kelly: how are things
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:47 AM - jbigler1986: 5mm bore ones arriving today are 10.56
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:48 AM - donhuevo: tell me that's the radius and NOT the diameter
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:49 AM - donhuevo: @Mike... you know... draw the thing, print the thing, smack the forehead, redraw the thing, reprint the thing...
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:49 AM - jbigler1986: 8mm bore 12.5
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:50 AM - Mike Kelly: oh yes my favorite loop
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:50 AM - donhuevo: well jb, my thought is the bigger the better given the geometry of your extruder
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:56 AM - jbigler1986: can i buy just the geared part of the stepper?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:58 AM - jbigler1986: morning MK
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: if you can find that lemme know
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: i have 3 steppers that i could use it on. no need to buy the whole damn thing
Jun 29, 2015 at 7:59 AM - donhuevo: I'm looking for a bearing with a bigger OD that still fits an 8mm shaft
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:59 AM - donhuevo: like an 8x24x7
    Jun 29, 2015 at 7:59 AM - donhuevo: doesn't seem to exist
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: it seems to me like the stepper itself is like 8 bucks but the planetary gear housing is like 20
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:00 AM - donhuevo: but if the 12.5 hob is enough, job done.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: wonder how this would hold up
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:03 AM - jbigler1986: https://0x7d.com/2014/08/41-gearbox-for-nema-17-stepper-motors/
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:04 AM - donhuevo: I think it would be easier to redesign the idler arm to fit what you have
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:04 AM - Mike Kelly: i wouldn't but i'm hesitant of plastic parts
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:05 AM - donhuevo: oooh, can you slot the motor holes?
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: it's not the OD of the drive gear i'm talking about. I have one geared stepper but would need another for dual if I wanted to use something besides gregs wade
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:06 AM - Mike Kelly: what size drive shaft are you eyeing
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: unless I changed multiplier or e steps for a different extruder in the gcode/setting for the 2nd extruder
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: seems like a hassle that way though
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: since there isn't a way in marlin to set esteps for 2 different extruders. Am I correct on that MK
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:09 AM - donhuevo: but the extruder and geared stepper haven't performed successfully together yet, right?
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: they have just by extruding filament. didn't run an actual print
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:11 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: i hooked up the geared stepper with the 8mm bore drive gear and your spacer. used a different extruder. worked fine exruding
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:12 AM - donhuevo: ah
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: i extruded like 300m of filament and it was fine
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:14 AM - donhuevo: gotcha so now you're just deciding whether you want two of these or two GW's to go dual because of the e-steps issue. I think I found the page you're on
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: that's correct
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: i have read that people have use 2 different ones with 2 esteps then add the esteps in the gcode for the tool change. seems like a pain
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:20 AM - donhuevo: ya, I would think the simplest answer would be having matching extruders
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Mike Kelly: that does seem like a pain
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: or people have changed the multiplier until it was correct. also seems like a pain
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: people also adjust filament diameter
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: to bad couldn't add like E1 to the esteps to add another extruder
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: you know i'm not entirely convinced you can't
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Mike Kelly: but i haven't spent too long on that
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:23 AM - donhuevo: just because you can wear two different socks, doesn't mean you should
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: yeah it does. :D
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:24 AM - donhuevo: maybe the better comparison is one tennis shoe and one stiletto
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: i think it would work fine if you could do it in the firmware
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:27 AM - jbigler1986: otherwise i would not mess with it
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: jb i think this thing is our crumb trail: http://i.imgur.com/i8P0OXq.png
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: hmm. So change to 5 then add E1 then add the steps for it?
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:38 AM - donhuevo: if only it were that simple
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:39 AM - jbigler1986: what are the cable/connector called to run the thermistor to the ramps?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - donhuevo: wires?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: heater cartridge as well i suppose
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - donhuevo: did I win?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: not totally no
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: are they just jumper connectors?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:41 AM - donhuevo: wouldn't call them a jumper no
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:42 AM - donhuevo: are you looking for the name of the 2-pin female that connects onto the ramps?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:42 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
    Jun 29, 2015 at 8:43 AM - donhuevo: JST connectors I believe
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i've seen them called dupont connectors
Jun 29, 2015 at 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: but the ones i bought don't make contact with the pins

Jun 29, 2015 at 8:49 AM - Mike Kelly: which did you buy mike

Jun 29, 2015 at 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: connection on the ramps messed up?
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:37 AM - jbigler1986: like on the board itself
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:38 AM - Mike Kelly: perhaps, need to do some more sleuthing
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: what happened to toy and bam?
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: Toy is in his bunker
    Jun 29, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Kelly: that's a good question
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: toy's printer must have exploded and bam idk
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: Bam as you know is in the Air Force, so I would ask them ;)
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:40 AM - jbigler1986: ha. yeah i'm sure they do know
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: might as well have a damn tracking device on you
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: Tom's review of the play is pretty good
    Jun 29, 2015 at 9:42 AM - jbigler1986: who? this guy? [IMG]
    Jun 29, 2015 at 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly:
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: about to watch it
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: he starts off with a poem
    Jun 29, 2015 at 9:46 AM - jbigler1986: $399. not bad
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: ends with a poem too
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:47 AM - Stephen Capistron: not at all. If anyone just wanted a printer to do little detail work it looks like a pretty good winner. I just know nothing about those ubis hot ends
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:48 AM - Mike Kelly: schools would like them
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:50 AM - jbigler1986: That would be good to let my kids/wife mess with
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: I would love to see Brook and his team tackle a delta
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:53 AM - donhuevo: looks like the smoothie is gonna be loaded... 5 drivers and a voltage regulator
Jun 29, 2015 at 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: lol he climbs on it
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:07 AM - jbigler1986: thinking about edited ur carriage MK and adding some leds to it
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:08 AM - jbigler1986: so i don't have to have the whole case lit up all of the time
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: sweet where do you think they'll go
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:11 AM - jbigler1986: probably on the inside of the "hump" where the fans mount
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:11 AM - jbigler1986: or on the bottom of the carriage on the front and back
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:12 AM - donhuevo: think about the lights reflecting off the glass before you decide
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:14 AM - jbigler1986: ha. my bed is never clean enough for that
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:14 AM - donhuevo: alrighty... gotta run for a bit. ttfn
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:19 AM - Stephen Capistron: Is the power supply in the robo firmware switchable?
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:21 AM - Mike Glass: negatory
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: bah
    Jun 29, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: need a relay
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:26 AM - Mike Glass: just a cheap chinese PS, same one I put in the cnc. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D7CWSCG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: not getting past the boss these days
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:32 AM - Stephen Capistron: should have bought it a week ago
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: bought what?
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:35 AM - Stephen Capistron: the power supply
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:37 AM - Mike Kelly: the psu i have has a switch point, but yeah the stock psu doesn't
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:38 AM - Mike Glass: Did you find one with a built in relay.
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:38 AM - Stephen Capistron: have you set up M80 for your end g-code?
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: no i really need to though
    Jun 29, 2015 at 10:39 AM - Mike Glass: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-5V-12V-2...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item3ce92c186e
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Glass: Yours is 24Volt though right?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: don't really need a delay, just use M109 S50
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: at some point i need to run my stepper motors off of it
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Glass: is that a cooldown?
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: in essence
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: M109 is just a set temp and wait
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: so you tell it to wait till your extruder gets to 50C
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: then you'll have it put the setpoint to 0 once that's reached and disable the psu
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: keeps the cooling fans running that way
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Stephen Capistron: I could see doing the cooldown trigger with the notification push from repetier or whatever. Tell me when the part is ready to come off the bed, not when it is done being printed
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Mike Glass: haha M81 (commit Suicide)
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Mike Glass: Ok going to order this one. http://www.amazon.com/ESUMIC-SSR-10...=UTF8&qid=1435600493&sr=8-1&keywords=SSR-10DA
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:53 AM - Stephen Capistron: I would not order that.
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Stephen Capistron: There seem to be a ton of knock-off SSRs out there that get crispy easily
Jun 29, 2015 at 10:55 AM - Mike Glass: omron should be a good one.

Jun 29, 2015 at 10:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i've been using a fotek for a while now, no issues really
Jun 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Stephen Capistron: Fotek is generally a good brand. Just have to have faith in the seller's selling genuine parts
Jun 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jun 29, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: just makes me think of the guarantee scene from tommy boy for some reason

    Jun 29, 2015 at 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: understandable
Jun 29, 2015 at 12:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: Too busy finishing the trim in my kitchen, painting the living room, ...
    Jun 29, 2015 at 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: getting a new job?
Jun 29, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Stephen Capistron: Eventually
Jun 29, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Stephen Capistron: I am going to be more selective than last time though
Jun 29, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: got any idea what you want to do?
Jun 29, 2015 at 12:52 PM - Stephen Capistron: Like to get back into life science / biotech
Jun 29, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Kelly: gotcha

Jun 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: tell him to send me a R2 for the trouble. lol
    Jun 29, 2015 at 1:41 PM - Harry: haha
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:44 PM - Mike Kelly: that unicorn
    Jun 29, 2015 at 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: just throwing that out there. :)
    Jun 29, 2015 at 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: i saw it in the background of a video
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: it was a little fuzzy but you could clearly see it moving
    Jun 29, 2015 at 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: is the R2 direct drive?
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
    Jun 29, 2015 at 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: why
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:46 PM - Mike Kelly: more compact
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Harry: hasnt been officially decided eyt
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:47 PM - Harry: originally it was bowden
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Harry: They actually are just working on the extruder this week I think...
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:48 PM - Harry: Dont quote me though
Jun 29, 2015 at 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: already did on my blog
    Jun 29, 2015 at 1:50 PM - Harry: lol
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:28 PM - jbigler1986: Got new drive gears. To bad i couldnt run them on steppers without any gearing. Would have them up in now time
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:30 PM - jbigler1986: Dont like the esteps being so low though
    Jun 29, 2015 at 2:34 PM - donhuevo: back
    Jun 29, 2015 at 2:34 PM - jbigler1986: Welcome back
    Jun 29, 2015 at 2:35 PM - donhuevo: gracias
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:37 PM - donhuevo: Harry! working on the Dark Theme css?
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: ever the optimist
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:41 PM - donhuevo: that's right. I see the glass as refillable
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:41 PM - jbigler1986: Why do almost all of the extruders on thingiverse have no gearing. Are like 200 esteps not to low? As you and SC pointed out it seems sketchy to run them that low
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:42 PM - donhuevo: yep, you want the gearing for the added torque
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:43 PM - Stephen Capistron: Instal a dvr8825 or whatever it is and double the number of steps
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:43 PM - donhuevo: there are jumpers hiding under the drivers you have. I want to say they're capable of 1/16 microstepping
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:45 PM - Stephen Capistron: i have no idea
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: Nah. If i was to spend money i would just get anothe geared stepper
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: Im being a cheap ass right now
    Jun 29, 2015 at 2:47 PM - donhuevo: http://www.reprap.org/wiki/RAMPS_1.4#Stepper_Driver_Boards
Jun 29, 2015 at 2:48 PM - donhuevo: granted that doesn't get you more torque, just more steps
    Jun 29, 2015 at 2:51 PM - Stephen Capistron: use a nema 23
    Jun 29, 2015 at 2:52 PM - Mike Kelly: nema 34
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:01 PM - donhuevo: so Mike, you did catch the smoothieboard thing, yes?
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:03 PM - Mike Kelly: 5 steppers and a voltage regulator?
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:03 PM - donhuevo: yep. they finally got around to announcing the winners of the contest
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: oh sweet, did you enter and/or win?
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: oh i see now
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: sweet
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:04 PM - donhuevo: yep. Put in my neopixel idea.
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:04 PM - Mike Kelly: what was your suggestion
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: ah
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:05 PM - Mike Kelly: sweet man
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:06 PM - donhuevo: I'm not a lucky guy
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:06 PM - Stephen Capistron: ?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:07 PM - donhuevo: ? to which part?
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:07 PM - donhuevo: the part where I never get lucky?
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:08 PM - Stephen Capistron: both
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: where did they announce it don?

Jun 29, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Mike Kelly: oh awesome
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:09 PM - Stephen Capistron: i thought smoothieboard was already a thing. Or is this for rev 2
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:10 PM - donhuevo: it's been a thing but there was a contest http://arthurwolf.github.io/SmoothieContest/
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:12 PM - Stephen Capistron: so what does the neopixel do?
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:13 PM - donhuevo: I have three of them on my printer. One for bed temp, one for extruder temp and one for part lighting. room temp is blue, target temp is red. As temps change I decrease blue and increase red. Figured I could adapt it to the smoothie
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:14 PM - donhuevo: http://www.adafruit.com/category/168
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:15 PM - Stephen Capistron: so indicator lights
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:15 PM - donhuevo: yep
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:16 PM - donhuevo: and/or parts lighting, mood lighting
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:17 PM - donhuevo:
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:23 PM - toy: yo
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: sup
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:24 PM - toy: im going print delirious lol
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:24 PM - Stephen Capistron: kind of surprised your suggestion wasn't a "that's what she said" alarm
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:25 PM - donhuevo: haha
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:26 PM - toy: my volcano should be in today... is their any "heads up" things to know before i wire it in?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: it's exactly the same as a v6
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:27 PM - toy: thx
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:37 PM - jbigler1986: Maybe i should use robos blue leds on the carriage.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:38 PM - jbigler1986: Recycle
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:38 PM - toy: my v6 have been giving problems recently...jamming to the point where it would ripe the bowden tube out from the press connectors
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:39 PM - toy: i think some kid was messing with my retraction setting
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:41 PM - Mike Kelly: what's your tube arc look like
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:44 PM - toy: one sec... let me get you a pic
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:46 PM - toy: i took the whole v6 apart cleaned it..reassembled
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:48 PM - toy: http://imgur.com/lEH858C
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:48 PM - toy: it keeps getting shorter because i cut off the shreaded parts... i have 1000mm of new tubing coming in today also
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:53 PM - Mike Kelly: that seems ok
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:54 PM - jbigler1986: What drive gear are you using
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:55 PM - Mike Kelly: i think he's using bondtech
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:55 PM - toy: bondetech
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: Any cuting into the filament?
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:56 PM - toy: its challenging when u have alot of kids touching and using the printer
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:56 PM - toy: just teeth marks fromthe hobbed gear
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:57 PM - jbigler1986: How bad? I went through this
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:57 PM - toy: not sure what u mean
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:58 PM - toy: almost like the nozzle was clogged causing alot of pressure... but i swapped out nozzles and same thing
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:58 PM - jbigler1986: I had a drive gear that would cut into the filament leaving marks. It would create friction in the tube. Ended up jamming everytime
Jun 29, 2015 at 3:59 PM - jbigler1986: Changed drive gears and no longer have the issue
    Jun 29, 2015 at 3:59 PM - toy: v6?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 4:00 PM - jbigler1986: Yep
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:02 PM - toy: ill try lossening the sets screws if it jams again..... i slowed it down by 50% and so far so good
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:17 PM - jbigler1986: Any way to have gregs wade or similar using a drive gear instead of a hobbed bolt?
Jun 29, 2015 at 4:41 PM - jbigler1986: Where can i find stepper wiring to ramps
    Jun 29, 2015 at 4:45 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jun 29, 2015 at 4:45 PM - jbigler1986: Just the wire
    Jun 29, 2015 at 5:26 PM - daniel871: I need the same thing.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 5:26 PM - daniel871: Coincidentally.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:26 PM - daniel871: Stupid white end green and black wires are loose in the plug and not making good connections.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:28 PM - daniel871: If you order another motor from Robo it comes with wire leads instead of a plug on the motor.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:30 PM - daniel871: Thinking about just getting one like it or better from Amazon and splicing like colored wires together.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 5:33 PM - daniel871: This one. http://www.amazon.com/Stepper-Motor...pebp=1435624373372&perid=0QHHXM8B749EY08PG87E

Jun 29, 2015 at 5:35 PM - daniel871: That motor looks to have the plug for going straight through to the board and plugging in rather than splicing.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 5:37 PM - daniel871: Also 64oz-in.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:37 PM - daniel871: Fuck it, I'm spending money on this printer every time I turn around anyway.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:39 PM - daniel871: Also Bronzefill clogged like a mother fucker at the same PLA settings I've been using in less than thirty minutes.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:40 PM - daniel871: At least it didn't polymerize like Laywood did when clogging.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:42 PM - daniel871: To be fair, now that I'm thinking about it, I think the reason the clog happened was because those wires worked loose.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 5:43 PM - jbigler1986: I literally just need the wires
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:44 PM - jbigler1986: May just find a 4 pin fan connector or some shit
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:51 PM - daniel871: The motor is just $15. Spend more money in time looking for connectors than just getting that.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 5:52 PM - daniel871: Plus it'll be here Wednesday.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:52 PM - daniel871: Only bitch of it is that now I'm wondering if the majority of my clogging issues had to do with loose wires to begin with that finally lost connection or what.
Jun 29, 2015 at 5:54 PM - daniel871: Guess I'll take the opportunity to wire up the dual part fans and all the rest of the stuff I'd been putting off.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 5:54 PM - jbigler1986: I have 3 extra steppers already
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:03 PM - daniel871: Already wired with a plug?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:03 PM - daniel871: I don't, so I'm ordering the one I linked earlier. :p
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:04 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. Thats why im looking for the wiring. They would be nice to have extras
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:05 PM - daniel871: Well shoot, I have a direct drive setup I haven't tried to mount because I didn't have the right gear to attach. Guess I should look that up and order it while I'm ordering another motor.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:06 PM - daniel871: What's the best gear to get?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:07 PM - jbigler1986: Drive gear?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:07 PM - daniel871: MK8?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:07 PM - daniel871: Etc.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:07 PM - daniel871: http://www.amazon.com/Extruder-Driv...=UTF8&qid=1435626568&sr=1-2&keywords=mk8+gear
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:08 PM - daniel871: For a direct drive setup.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:08 PM - jbigler1986: I have MK8 and MK7
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:08 PM - jbigler1986: MK8 worked good. MK7 seems like it will be great too
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:09 PM - jbigler1986: Got a geared stepper too?
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:09 PM - daniel871: No, just a regular one.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:10 PM - daniel871: Damnit, should've checked that.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:10 PM - jbigler1986: Your gonna want to get a geared stepper or else your esteps will be below 200
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:12 PM - jbigler1986: If puting all of this effort might as well go bowden
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:13 PM - daniel871: Shit, a geared motor is nearly $60 on Amazon.
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:13 PM - daniel871: http://www.amazon.com/Nema-Geared-S...pebp=1435626921326&perid=0BEWS3VCHVMB2GKVW7FH
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:14 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. Not sure if im even going to use mine. Gregs wade has the same effect. Works awesome for bowden
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:14 PM - daniel871: Looks like a bad mofo, though. Claims 283oz-in max torque.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:15 PM - daniel871: I'd like to give direct drive a shot before trying to go Bowden. Already have the parts except for the stepper itself and the drive gear.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:16 PM - daniel871: (some of the stuff I printed before things started going to hell)
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:16 PM - daniel871: Basically this project: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:519320
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:17 PM - jbigler1986: U can use almost any extruder if you have the right parts
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:19 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00PN...ed+nema+17&dpPl=1&dpID=41EdOqK1B-L&ref=plSrch
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:20 PM - daniel871: Yeah, I think I'll get that and try it.
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:20 PM - jbigler1986: Thats the one i got. You really dont need anything bigger for the stepper. Also you need to worry about how kuch weight you are adding
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:22 PM - jbigler1986: You want my modified direct extruder for the robo?
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:22 PM - daniel871: Would the one from that thingiverse project I linked not be good enough?
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:24 PM - jbigler1986: I dont like that you cant adjust the tension
    Jun 29, 2015 at 6:24 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jun 29, 2015 at 6:25 PM - daniel871: You mean the plans/STL files or the actual thing?
