    Mar 24, 2016 5:40 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Mar 24, 2016 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: wont be the quality of a high-techish quad with gro stablized HD broadcast cam.. but still fun
Mar 24, 2016 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: what you up to?
Mar 24, 2016 5:43 AM - JeffTheMess: nothing but work
    Mar 24, 2016 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: not a bad thing
Mar 24, 2016 5:44 AM - JeffTheMess: I actually got to fly my quad yesterday
    Mar 24, 2016 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: neat :)
Mar 24, 2016 5:47 AM - JeffTheMess: what RC are you flying
Mar 24, 2016 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: it's a cub basically.. clipped wing, overpowered.. flaps

Mar 24, 2016 8:48 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah they started to ship already
Mar 24, 2016 8:48 AM - PeterkSharma: yeah, I though it was a scam haha
Mar 24, 2016 8:49 AM - JeffTheMess: lol oh no they are doing well, even though they are 3 year behind
Mar 24, 2016 9:31 AM - PeterkSharma: yeah that what made it so fishy looking
    Mar 24, 2016 10:20 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: Hi!
    Mar 24, 2016 10:21 AM - JeffTheMess: hi there
Mar 24, 2016 10:21 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: I had a quick question if someone could assist me?
Mar 24, 2016 10:23 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: nevermind actually I just figured it out
    Mar 24, 2016 10:26 AM - JeffTheMess: lol ok
Mar 24, 2016 10:27 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: my ribbon cable for the heated bed is hitting the base so it was not able to reach the full motion of the y-axis during auto-level
    Mar 24, 2016 10:28 AM - JeffTheMess: ahh..ok yeah I had that problem
Mar 24, 2016 10:29 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: what did you have to do to fix it? I can't seem to keep the cable above that unless I do not use the little clip to hold the cable
    Mar 24, 2016 10:30 AM - JeffTheMess: I taped it
Mar 24, 2016 10:31 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: gotcha kapton tape? and is there a reason to even have that clip?
Mar 24, 2016 10:34 AM - JeffTheMess: I used aluminium tape to resist the hear but that could work
Mar 24, 2016 10:34 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: okay thanks
    Mar 24, 2016 10:38 AM - JeffTheMess: sure
    Mar 24, 2016 11:54 AM - daniel871: Hey hey let's take a walk down memory lane: [IMG]
Mar 24, 2016 12:00 PM - danzca6: haha...I just saw that they have a kickstarter pack on their site...I thought they were going way back on memory lane with that
Mar 24, 2016 12:00 PM - danzca6: turns out that it had nothing to do with the kickstarter version of the robo
Mar 24, 2016 12:07 PM - JeffTheMess: you gotta believe
    Mar 24, 2016 12:09 PM - Bill Monroe: doods
    Mar 24, 2016 12:12 PM - daniel871: Is it quitting time yet?
    Mar 24, 2016 12:12 PM - Bill Monroe: yes
    Mar 24, 2016 12:15 PM - JeffTheMess: 1 hour left
    Mar 24, 2016 12:16 PM - daniel871: 2 hours here.
Mar 24, 2016 12:27 PM - JeffTheMess: this is funny
Mar 24, 2016 12:29 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Hey guys, quick question. Does anyone have a top down camera installed on their ROBO 3D
    Mar 24, 2016 12:29 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: ?
    Mar 24, 2016 12:29 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: and also, HI GUYS! :)
Mar 24, 2016 12:30 PM - JeffTheMess: I have one right on the bed about 4" up
Mar 24, 2016 12:31 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: Need it inside the top casing
Mar 24, 2016 12:31 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: or attached to the top casing
Mar 24, 2016 12:31 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: straight down at the print bed
Mar 24, 2016 12:31 PM - Bill Monroe: no, mine's on a stand with the cam on a boom
Mar 24, 2016 12:32 PM - Bill Monroe: I tried that, all you see is the head moving back and forth?
    Mar 24, 2016 12:32 PM - JeffTheMess: yeah can't see nothing really
Mar 24, 2016 12:33 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: We are trying to do something with reading the print so the bed would actually come out and then it would read the print from there so it would most likely have to be attached to the top case but come out forwards
    Mar 24, 2016 12:34 PM - Bill Monroe: a credits roll?
Mar 24, 2016 12:36 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: just for determining whether the print position is correct, failed, etc
    Mar 24, 2016 12:36 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: a "smart" thing
    Mar 24, 2016 12:36 PM - Bill Monroe: ah
    Mar 24, 2016 12:37 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: yes
Mar 24, 2016 12:37 PM - Braydon ROBO 3D: if you guys see anything around, let me know! Thanks so much
Mar 24, 2016 12:39 PM - Bill Monroe: will do
Mar 24, 2016 12:41 PM - JeffTheMess: oh I've seen something like that on a cnc
Mar 24, 2016 12:44 PM - Bill Monroe: google cam just went by my office window
    Mar 24, 2016 12:48 PM - jbigler1986: Hola fellas

Mar 24, 2016 3:32 PM - BryZad: Does anyone have contact info for printsolid ?
Mar 24, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: what do you need?
Mar 24, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Kelly: is it possible to retrieve the current steps per mm from your printer?
    Mar 24, 2016 3:52 PM - Mike Kelly: M503
    Mar 24, 2016 3:53 PM - jbigler1986: Answering your own question
Mar 24, 2016 3:58 PM - BryZad: Was wondering if he ever ran into a bad LCD could it be in cables or on the board
    Mar 24, 2016 3:59 PM - BryZad: I think Mike had a mental breakdown
Mar 24, 2016 4:01 PM - BryZad: I replaced the arduino on my RoBo and still have the random Kill print command
Mar 24, 2016 4:05 PM - jbigler1986: Did you replace the lcd and ramps too?
Mar 24, 2016 4:10 PM - BryZad: Haven't replaced the LCD will switch the ramps tonigt
Mar 24, 2016 4:29 PM - jbigler1986: Does it happen without the lcd connected
    Mar 24, 2016 4:39 PM - BryZad: No
Mar 24, 2016 4:40 PM - BryZad: I want to get to printing from USB without cable agian
Mar 24, 2016 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: Try a new lcd too. You never know
Mar 24, 2016 4:49 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i wasn't finding it in gcode wiki but found it in my go-to video by tom
Mar 24, 2016 4:54 PM - BryZad: Is there other cheaper LCD that can print from SD ?
Mar 24, 2016 4:54 PM - BryZad: That's why I was wondering if print has come across this before
    Mar 24, 2016 5:02 PM - jbigler1986: I bought mine from amazon for like 20 bucks
Mar 24, 2016 6:12 PM - BryZad: Can you print from SD with it ?
Mar 24, 2016 6:28 PM - Mike Kelly: any lcd yes
    Mar 24, 2016 6:36 PM - BryZad: Some don't have a LCD slot I thought
Mar 24, 2016 6:37 PM - BryZad: SD card slot
Mar 24, 2016 6:54 PM - Mike Kelly: you know what they say when you assume
Mar 24, 2016 7:16 PM - toymaker: assumption is the mother of all ****-ups ?
Mar 24, 2016 7:31 PM - BryZad: Best place to get one Amazon ? Or eBay
Mar 24, 2016 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly: whatever you find cheapest
Mar 24, 2016 7:53 PM - Mike Kelly: amazon is fine but it's not my money
Mar 24, 2016 7:54 PM - Mike Kelly: they're not gonna vary much, maybe the buzzer sound
    Mar 24, 2016 8:04 PM - toymaker: mk
Mar 24, 2016 8:05 PM - danzca6: hey toy, have you done any scans with your Kinect scanner yet?
Mar 24, 2016 8:06 PM - toymaker: yes but i need to get a turntable

Mar 24, 2016 8:06 PM - toymaker: the cable is kinda to short to do a walk around
Mar 24, 2016 8:06 PM - toymaker: so my new workflow is .... scan.... repair scan in zbrush
Mar 24, 2016 8:07 PM - toymaker: their is random artifacts , but i think that is more in how i am scanning thing swith my hand
Mar 24, 2016 8:08 PM - toymaker: will give u some idea what im doing
Mar 24, 2016 8:08 PM - toymaker: but the v2 sensor does have promise
Mar 24, 2016 8:31 PM - danzca6: sorry, got distracted...that's cool. I see they are $89 new right now on amazon. Might have to get one
Mar 24, 2016 8:32 PM - danzca6: are you using the 3d scan app for windows 10? Not sure if you are on 10 or not.
Mar 24, 2016 8:41 PM - danzca6: shoot, looks like I missed you. sorry again toy. Daughter had a printing issue upstairs I had to deal with. Hopefully later we can chat about it.

Mar 24, 2016 9:10 PM - BryZad: Ha ha I think I have two knetics one for 360 one for Xbox one
Mar 24, 2016 9:10 PM - BryZad: You haven't moved your family down yet Mike ?
    Mar 24, 2016 9:10 PM - danzca6: an apartment might be a good start
Mar 24, 2016 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: nope i fly back on the 6th and we'll start the drive on the 8th
    Mar 24, 2016 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: wife's transfer starts on the 11th
Mar 24, 2016 9:11 PM - danzca6: did she get a job at corporate office?
Mar 24, 2016 9:12 PM - BryZad: If you all could fit in a appt to start give you better time to look at houses and not feel rushed
Mar 24, 2016 9:12 PM - danzca6: yeah, not something you want to rush into in an unknown area
Mar 24, 2016 9:12 PM - BryZad: If all your stuff is in a pod or storage container
Mar 24, 2016 9:13 PM - danzca6: starting the new job has to be exciting though
Mar 24, 2016 9:15 PM - danzca6: Bry, do you use your kinects? I have a 360 one, but I hear the V2 for the one is a lot better for 3d scanning
Mar 24, 2016 9:18 PM - Bill Monroe: good evening.
    Mar 24, 2016 9:18 PM - danzca6: hey Bill
Mar 24, 2016 9:20 PM - danzca6: jimmy fallon is cracking me up with his lap full of super hero puppies
Mar 24, 2016 9:40 PM - toymaker: yes, im using win 10 on this 6700k box,,, i know... im using 3d scan app
Mar 24, 2016 9:40 PM - toymaker: which is ok
Mar 24, 2016 9:41 PM - danzca6: I just saw that app available and wondered how well it worked.
Mar 24, 2016 9:41 PM - toymaker: it say u should have a high powered gpu.. which i think the gtx970 is for good scans
    Mar 24, 2016 9:42 PM - danzca6: yeah, that should do...haha
Mar 24, 2016 9:42 PM - toymaker: i wish it had more options and showed the fps
Mar 24, 2016 9:42 PM - danzca6: what things are you trying to scan
Mar 24, 2016 9:42 PM - toymaker: like the youtube video gui looks diff then mine
Mar 24, 2016 9:42 PM - toymaker: people, power wheels, pretty much everythings lol
Mar 24, 2016 9:43 PM - toymaker: but it needs post processing
Mar 24, 2016 9:43 PM - toymaker: like clean up in zbrush to get great results
Mar 24, 2016 9:44 PM - danzca6: I'm sure there is still a pretty good learning curve getting a good scan
Mar 24, 2016 9:45 PM - toymaker: so far... their isnt to much documentation.. expect a few video on youtube
Mar 24, 2016 9:45 PM - danzca6: I saw a video on channel9 from MS using the 3d builder with the v2...not sure how well that compares to zbrush
Mar 24, 2016 9:48 PM - toymaker: u scan using 3d builder... export stl... // import that stl into zbrush for post processing -> export neww stl -> print
    Mar 24, 2016 9:48 PM - danzca6: ah...ok...that makes sense
Mar 24, 2016 9:49 PM - danzca6: he had a nice turntable setup for people scanning on that video
    Mar 24, 2016 9:49 PM - toymaker: makes scanning like 10x easier i bet
Mar 24, 2016 9:50 PM - danzca6: sounds like when doing people, you have to be careful with how they are standing because of fingers and small items being hard to print at the end
Mar 24, 2016 9:50 PM - toymaker: i think scanning by hand need to be sampled a few times/ averaged using software
Mar 24, 2016 9:50 PM - toymaker: but all that can be fixxed pretty easily in zbrush
    Mar 24, 2016 9:51 PM - toymaker: including overhangs
Mar 24, 2016 9:51 PM - danzca6: interested in seeing a sample print from the whole process
    Mar 24, 2016 9:52 PM - toymaker: soon, i want get a turntable
Mar 24, 2016 9:52 PM - danzca6: the 3d printing nerd on youtube visited a 3d scan shop that had a setup with multiple cameras and would do the scan in seconds
Mar 24, 2016 9:53 PM - toymaker: scanning by hand is hard becuase u have to move around the person while watchign the screen to make sure your getting a good scan
Mar 24, 2016 9:53 PM - danzca6: that would be ideal for kids and things that don't stand still long enough for a full scan with one camera
Mar 24, 2016 9:53 PM - danzca6: you almost need a screen on the scanner
Mar 24, 2016 9:54 PM - toymaker: all right danz im out... bed times
    Mar 24, 2016 9:55 PM - danzca6: yeah, same here... later
Mar 24, 2016 10:26 PM - NFOsec: you're always going to bed toy.
    Mar 24, 2016 10:26 PM - NFOsec: good grief.
    Mar 24, 2016 10:26 PM - NFOsec: mama, read me a story...
    Mar 24, 2016 10:27 PM - NFOsec: ciao/.
Mar 25, 2016 5:06 AM - JeffTheMess: GOooooood morning roboneers
Mar 25, 2016 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: Hey Jeff
Mar 25, 2016 5:14 AM - JeffTheMess: how it going bill
Mar 25, 2016 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe: not bad.. you?
    Mar 25, 2016 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: pretty good
    Mar 25, 2016 5:18 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
Mar 25, 2016 5:18 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm making a change to my camera mount design, will print another one
    Mar 25, 2016 5:18 AM - JeffTheMess: same position?
Mar 25, 2016 5:19 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. just going to curve it to better match the belly
    Mar 25, 2016 5:19 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Mar 25, 2016 5:20 AM - JeffTheMess: I rarely use my camera now most of my project are less than an hour or two, anything longer than three hours I use a camera
Mar 25, 2016 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: oh.. wait :) I'm talking about the camera I'm putting on my RC plane :)
Mar 25, 2016 5:22 AM - JeffTheMess: ohhhh lol ok cool you have a pic of the rc?
Mar 25, 2016 5:24 AM - Bill Monroe: actually I dont.. I take pics of everybody elses it seems. it's nothing special though, just an RTF cub
Mar 25, 2016 5:25 AM - JeffTheMess: does your camera transmit analog?
Mar 25, 2016 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: My son took a plane that I made in the 70s, changed it to electric and added a bunch ot tech stuff to it..
Mar 25, 2016 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: naw.. just a sports cam
Mar 25, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: auto pilot, gyros, gps, telemetry, etc...
Mar 25, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: but he never flew a plane before
Mar 25, 2016 5:27 AM - JeffTheMess: I haven't used analog yet, i hear its the best way to view it through live screen
Mar 25, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: i thought he was nuts but he did OK
Mar 25, 2016 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: my club has a huge HUGE quad race faction... they're all wrapped up in that FPV stuff
Mar 25, 2016 5:28 AM - JeffTheMess: have you flown both quad and planes?
Mar 25, 2016 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: I have, but the quad thing doesnt interest me
Mar 25, 2016 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: cool cool, I wanted to try very slow moving planes to get good shots
    Mar 25, 2016 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe:

Mar 25, 2016 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: this was his first take off:

Mar 25, 2016 5:36 AM - JeffTheMess: lol not to bad
Mar 25, 2016 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: amazing it survived with no damage.. that fist vid was taken just minutes later
    Mar 25, 2016 5:38 AM - JeffTheMess: that video I cant see
Mar 25, 2016 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: really? the first one?
Mar 25, 2016 5:39 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, maybe you have to have facebook? I dont Know
Mar 25, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: you could see the second one?
    Mar 25, 2016 5:40 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
    Mar 25, 2016 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: wierd.. they're both facebook
Mar 25, 2016 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe it's because the first one is .mov?
Mar 25, 2016 5:43 AM - JeffTheMess: When I click it, it say "Sorry, this content isn't available right now"
    Mar 25, 2016 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: well that's just wrong :)
Mar 25, 2016 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: lemme put it on youtube
    Mar 25, 2016 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: it'll take a few mins
    Mar 25, 2016 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe:

Mar 25, 2016 5:55 AM - JeffTheMess: that was a pretty good landing

Mar 25, 2016 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: that used to be an expensive setup.. special upgrades to transmitter, special slave unit.. you rarely saw them
Mar 25, 2016 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: now they're both just transmitters with an earphone cord between them
Mar 25, 2016 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah its pretty cool,
Mar 25, 2016 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: they even have it now that you can use the transmitters on a computer for real flight simulators
Mar 25, 2016 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: heh ya, he rigged that for her too
Mar 25, 2016 6:10 AM - JeffTheMess: even though its not the same but pretty cool to learn
Mar 25, 2016 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: that girl is something else.. he did good
Mar 25, 2016 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: she and 2.0 get along like sisters

Mar 26, 2016 4:56 AM - jbigler1986: Wtf were you searching to find that
Mar 26, 2016 5:40 AM - Archania: Almost done with the top cover for the LCD XXL that should be coming today... Printing like mad
    Mar 26, 2016 6:07 AM - jbigler1986: Nice
Mar 26, 2016 6:07 AM - Archania: Now to print spool holders for the top...
    Mar 26, 2016 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: Don't
    Mar 26, 2016 6:08 AM - Archania: ok.. why?
Mar 26, 2016 6:09 AM - Archania: really don't like the way the filament is stretched and feed.. seems to put tension on it
Mar 26, 2016 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: Top spool holders are a big chance to take. If the filament gets snagged or there is a knot on the spool the spool holder can break and then the spool can fall and break the bed
Mar 26, 2016 6:09 AM - danzca6: top mounted filament has it's ups and downs. If you are not careful, you might drop the spool on the bed and shatter it
Mar 26, 2016 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: Has happened more than once to people
Mar 26, 2016 6:10 AM - danzca6: which one are you looking at printing?
Mar 26, 2016 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: Or just simply dropping it on accident like Dan said
Mar 26, 2016 6:11 AM - Archania: let me get the link
    Mar 26, 2016 6:12 AM - Archania: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:216117
    Mar 26, 2016 6:12 AM - Archania: That one.
Mar 26, 2016 6:12 AM - Archania: i like the top mount actually.. my prusa works great with it.. just finished an enclosure for it also yesterday so I can get better temps for ABS
Mar 26, 2016 6:13 AM - Archania: use a lot of Hatchbox filament..
    Mar 26, 2016 6:13 AM - danzca6: doesn't seem to have a lot of beef to it
Mar 26, 2016 6:13 AM - danzca6: are you looking at putting an enclosure on the robo?
Mar 26, 2016 6:13 AM - Archania: not yet... will see how it goes
Mar 26, 2016 6:13 AM - jim3Dbot: I printed that one, the two will slide apart, causing the spool to fell. happened. I used two metal clips on each outer end to keep from moving.
Mar 26, 2016 6:13 AM - Archania: been looking at the thread though about the enclosure that they have been doing and the one on printed solid
    Mar 26, 2016 6:14 AM - danzca6: so there you go
Mar 26, 2016 6:14 AM - Archania: good call there Jim
Mar 26, 2016 6:14 AM - Archania: i can always build a different one.. or a frame with a dowel
Mar 26, 2016 6:14 AM - jim3Dbot: the spring type, clam shell clips, push one end into slot, open, release, don't really care for the design
    Mar 26, 2016 6:15 AM - Archania: understandable
Mar 26, 2016 6:15 AM - Archania: is it worth doing the chainlinks for the X axis?
Mar 26, 2016 6:15 AM - jim3Dbot: Laser arriving monday, now in Columbus Ohio
    Mar 26, 2016 6:15 AM - danzca6: you are the man Jim
    Mar 26, 2016 6:15 AM - jim3Dbot: I think links are cool
Mar 26, 2016 6:16 AM - danzca6: can't wait to see what you do with it
    Mar 26, 2016 6:16 AM - jim3Dbot: happy dance
    Mar 26, 2016 6:16 AM - danzca6: I also like the links
Mar 26, 2016 6:17 AM - jim3Dbot: I got to get back & wire outlets in back "spare"? room.......Take Care Danz, JB & Arch
    Mar 26, 2016 6:18 AM - Archania: enjoy...
    Mar 26, 2016 6:18 AM - jbigler1986: Hate you Jim
    Mar 26, 2016 6:19 AM - jim3Dbot: And you............Luv U Man
Mar 26, 2016 6:20 AM - danzca6: I agree jb, these laser folks...I hate them...but want to be them!!! HAHA
Mar 26, 2016 6:20 AM - danzca6: have you found one you like yet that fits your budget?
Mar 26, 2016 6:22 AM - danzca6: Arch, this actually is the mount I am using. I like it better than the one you showed just because it puts the spool back a bit and makes the filament come through the slot better. It also is pretty sturdy. Just REALLY be careful replacing filament that you don't drop it. Having the case from PS that MK designed could help in case it does drop, but just be aware of the risk. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:267039
Mar 26, 2016 6:25 AM - Archania: thanks Danzca... I'll try them out shortly
    Mar 26, 2016 6:27 AM - jim3Dbot: 250957580375 ebay item number, google search........50w, studied youtube...can upgrade to 60w....with new tube & metal side extension.......
    Mar 26, 2016 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: I have not found one yet. If I can find a 50 for like 1200 I will jump.
    Mar 26, 2016 6:27 AM - danzca6: 1200 50W would be a great deal
Mar 26, 2016 6:28 AM - danzca6: if you find that, hopefully they have two
    Mar 26, 2016 6:29 AM - jim3Dbot: >$1500 range, 60w $2,300....but too big now for budget & space............
    Mar 26, 2016 6:29 AM - danzca6: when you building a new shop jim?
    Mar 26, 2016 6:29 AM - danzca6: haha
Mar 26, 2016 6:30 AM - jim3Dbot: There was two left, they just received 10 more......they ship fedex in 24 hrs.....will receive in 5 days from CA
    Mar 26, 2016 6:31 AM - jim3Dbot: to PA
Mar 26, 2016 6:31 AM - danzca6: well, could always make an offer of 1200 and see if they budge
    Mar 26, 2016 6:31 AM - danzca6: doughtful
Mar 26, 2016 6:32 AM - jim3Dbot: Sold my House in Pittsburgh, had large shop, now none.............I bid up to within $20, no accepts, Monroe had similar issue..........Discount not there...tried a few
    Mar 26, 2016 6:33 AM - danzca6: that's what I hate about sales with the make an offer option...most don't actually deal
    Mar 26, 2016 6:34 AM - jim3Dbot: That's what I find......why even say?
    Mar 26, 2016 6:34 AM - danzca6: right
Mar 26, 2016 6:35 AM - jim3Dbot: with the bidding, I ran out of ebay bids, only allow three....should of been delivered Friday, but bidding slowed it down...to no avail
    Mar 26, 2016 6:36 AM - jim3Dbot: see you guys, got to go...............nice weekend coming up...Happy Easter
Mar 26, 2016 6:36 AM - danzca6: I know MG has a blast with his. I'm sure you will as well.
    Mar 26, 2016 6:36 AM - danzca6: Happy Easter to you jim...take care
    Mar 26, 2016 6:40 AM - jbigler1986: Highest I would go is 1300
Mar 26, 2016 6:40 AM - jbigler1986: Still to busy playing with the cnc or else I may make it more of a priority
Mar 26, 2016 6:42 AM - danzca6: yeah and then you still have to shell out for a stand and laser protection glasses.
Mar 26, 2016 6:43 AM - danzca6: at some point this year I will get one. just need to get rid of some old toys first to make room and for the extra $$
    Mar 26, 2016 7:25 AM - NFOsec: Morning.
Mar 26, 2016 7:25 AM - NFOsec: who had a blast with what where why when>?
Mar 26, 2016 7:26 AM - NFOsec: danz: 2x4 plans for a nice rugged stand, these babies are big, heavy, and you could be buried in one.., I think mine is 248lbs perhaps?
Mar 26, 2016 7:29 AM - danzca6: Yeah, I have seen some red 50w lasers now on ebay that look like the 60w with the nice stand with wheels. They do look like a lot of weight
    Mar 26, 2016 7:29 AM - NFOsec: yeah, they're about 250lbs.
    Mar 26, 2016 7:30 AM - NFOsec: maybe low-ended 240.
    Mar 26, 2016 7:30 AM - danzca6: either way, I wouldn't be able to lift on my own ;)
Mar 26, 2016 7:30 AM - NFOsec: the Laser Engraving and Cutting group on Facebook shows a lot of those and talks about them.
    Mar 26, 2016 7:30 AM - NFOsec: right... wimp.
Mar 26, 2016 7:31 AM - danzca6: what upgrades do you recommend on these as a must do?
Mar 26, 2016 7:31 AM - NFOsec: I had a surgery 2 weeks prior to mine being delivered, had to call out the calvary to deliver in for me.
Mar 26, 2016 7:33 AM - danzca6: I've read some replace the cutting bed with the honeycomb style
Mar 26, 2016 7:33 AM - danzca6: the one that comes with sounds like it might give some reflective flashing when cutting
Mar 26, 2016 7:34 AM - NFOsec: well, the 3 biggest things people face are 1) an inline fan or extraction unit, even if it is a self-contained filtration, the fans on the lasers are a little weak, maybe 35-75cpm. 2) honeycomb, pin-table, or slat-"blade" based table is desirable if not absolutely needed. 3) if you have funds, invest in a chiller, the 3000 (fan based) does good, but the 5000 is refrigerant-based
Mar 26, 2016 7:35 AM - NFOsec: all of the beds are basically aluminum / sheet metal beds with vented holes, you would prefer to have piece off the surface so you don't get flashbacks.
Mar 26, 2016 7:36 AM - NFOsec: those are the core items. above and beyond that, not much else. I actually use a 450 cpm inline PVC vent fan.
Mar 26, 2016 7:36 AM - NFOsec: oh, the ventilation stuff they give you is beyond a joke, I actually went 6" to 4" PVC in my case, probably $50 tops for all that.
Mar 26, 2016 7:37 AM - danzca6: thanks...I will have to add those to the list when trying to budget for this
Mar 26, 2016 7:40 AM - NFOsec: MG can tell you his pain points, but those are most likely the only ones you should have to worry about.
Mar 26, 2016 7:41 AM - NFOsec: We DID install a $6 ampmeter, a $4 digital temperature gauge and a $3 voltimeter as well... but those are not significant cost items.
Mar 26, 2016 7:42 AM - danzca6: yeah, sounds like MG is ready to upgrade to a bigger laser already
Mar 26, 2016 7:43 AM - danzca6: I hope to be able to put this in my garage if I can make some room. So hopefully able to vent easier than putting it in the basement
Mar 26, 2016 8:05 AM - NFOsec: MG is ambitious with things, because he can envision and make money with bigger equipment whereas most people can't get over that hobbyist avenue.
    Mar 26, 2016 8:05 AM - NFOsec: yeah.
    Mar 26, 2016 8:05 AM - NFOsec: bbiaf.
Mar 26, 2016 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: happy saturday

    Mar 26, 2016 8:22 AM - JasonSolves: I am trying to print @ 230
    Mar 26, 2016 8:23 AM - JasonSolves: normally I am closer to 200
Mar 26, 2016 8:24 AM - Mike Kelly: that's really hot for PLA
    Mar 26, 2016 8:24 AM - JasonSolves: yeah it is co-polymer
    Mar 26, 2016 8:24 AM - JasonSolves: so, I heated the end
    Mar 26, 2016 8:24 AM - JasonSolves: and extruded 10

    Mar 26, 2016 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Mar 26, 2016 8:25 AM - Mike Kelly: is that what they spec for it? sounds cold for a co-poly
    Mar 26, 2016 8:25 AM - JasonSolves: it cannot seem to stay @ 230
    Mar 26, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: fan?
    Mar 26, 2016 8:26 AM - JasonSolves: box says 220-240
Mar 26, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: ok cool
Mar 26, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: you have a hex hotend right?
Mar 26, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: do a PID tune at like 260
Mar 26, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: will help stability at lower temps
Mar 26, 2016 8:26 AM - JasonSolves: you might have just gone over my head
    Mar 26, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: it's easy
    Mar 26, 2016 8:27 AM - JasonSolves: awesome, I like easy
Mar 26, 2016 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: but yeah, you don't have a beta printer right?
    Mar 26, 2016 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: with the nozzle cool send M303 E0 S260 C8
    Mar 26, 2016 8:27 AM - JasonSolves: not that I know of
Mar 26, 2016 8:27 AM - Mike Kelly: it will heat up to 260 then cycle around it 8 times
    Mar 26, 2016 8:28 AM - JasonSolves: Alright, I can do that
Mar 26, 2016 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: the terminal window will spit out a bunch of kp, kd, ki numbers
Mar 26, 2016 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i think tom has a video guide on it
Mar 26, 2016 8:28 AM - JasonSolves: wow now you are talking like my QuadCopter
    Mar 26, 2016 8:28 AM - Mike Kelly:
    Mar 26, 2016 8:28 AM - JasonSolves: PID vaues
Mar 26, 2016 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: once you get the kp, ki, kd values use an M301 like so: M301 P19.56 I0.71 D134.26
Mar 26, 2016 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: then store with an M500
Mar 26, 2016 8:29 AM - Mike Kelly: should be better after that
Mar 26, 2016 8:30 AM - JasonSolves: Cool, New YT channel to subscribe to
Mar 26, 2016 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: http://reprap.org/wiki/PID_Tuning this is my go-to guide for it
Mar 26, 2016 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: tom's great! all his videos are worth watching
Mar 26, 2016 8:30 AM - JasonSolves: cool says "PID Autotune start"
Mar 26, 2016 8:32 AM - JasonSolves: Should I add the M301 in the code section of my s3d?
    Mar 26, 2016 8:33 AM - JasonSolves: oh, M301 then M500
Mar 26, 2016 8:34 AM - JasonSolves: 3 seconds from the end of that video
    Mar 26, 2016 8:34 AM - JasonSolves: yeah, I blame Printed Solid
Mar 26, 2016 8:34 AM - JasonSolves: "blame" meaning making me try new filiments
Mar 26, 2016 8:35 AM - JasonSolves: and making meaning I asked for easier cool new filaments and he sent me some
    Mar 26, 2016 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: Sup MK
    Mar 26, 2016 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: How was the Reprap fest

Mar 26, 2016 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: sup JB, it was a blast
Mar 26, 2016 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: nice to be in my element
Mar 26, 2016 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: Jason, once you store the values using M500 you shouldn't need to
Mar 26, 2016 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: some people use different M301 for different temps
Mar 26, 2016 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: since they have different results for different set points

Mar 26, 2016 8:49 AM - JasonSolves: it does not seem to be working
    Mar 26, 2016 8:49 AM - JasonSolves: I mean that I do the M301 command
    Mar 26, 2016 8:49 AM - JasonSolves: then I do a M501

    Mar 26, 2016 8:06 PM - danzca6: so if your z steps are for 8mm threaded rod, then yeah...that wouldn't be good
    Mar 26, 2016 8:07 PM - JasonSolves: indeed
Mar 26, 2016 8:07 PM - JasonSolves: so z steps, that was the term I was looking for
    Mar 26, 2016 8:08 PM - danzca6: #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80,80,400,723.38}
    Mar 26, 2016 8:08 PM - danzca6: the 3rd parm should be your z steps
    Mar 26, 2016 8:09 PM - JasonSolves: DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80,80,2560,723.38} // default steps per unit for RoBo 3D R1
    Mar 26, 2016 8:09 PM - danzca6: TR8*8 is 400 and TR8*4 is 800
Mar 26, 2016 8:09 PM - danzca6: do you know what type of leadscrews those are
    Mar 26, 2016 8:09 PM - JasonSolves: WOW that is mine. 2560!
    Mar 26, 2016 8:09 PM - danzca6: haha 2560 is way off
    Mar 26, 2016 8:09 PM - JasonSolves: no wonder
    Mar 26, 2016 8:10 PM - JasonSolves: I will try 400
Mar 26, 2016 8:10 PM - Mike Kelly: wait wait wait
Mar 26, 2016 8:10 PM - Mike Kelly: jason please send me a picture of your Z axis screws as they exit the motor body (base)
    Mar 26, 2016 8:11 PM - danzca6: above
Mar 26, 2016 8:11 PM - danzca6: he has couplers, but looks like he has leadscrews
    Mar 26, 2016 8:12 PM - JasonSolves: Did I take a bad photo
Mar 26, 2016 8:12 PM - JasonSolves: I have been known to be on the other end of the camera when that happend most of the time
Mar 26, 2016 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: oh sorry
    Mar 26, 2016 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: whoa
Mar 26, 2016 8:12 PM - Mike Kelly: your printer is definitely a 1 off
Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - JasonSolves: oh, not good
Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it looks like it has some kind of lead screw, probably TR8*4,
Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - JasonSolves: meaning that firmware might not do the trick
    Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - JasonSolves: so I should try 800
Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: well you'll need to modify
Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - danzca6: you could do the leadscrew upgrade firmware
    Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah start with 800
Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - JasonSolves: that seems closer
    Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: then do 400
Mar 26, 2016 8:13 PM - Mike Kelly: if you can measure the lead that's best
    Mar 26, 2016 8:14 PM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?attachments/lead_and_pitch_in_screws-png.10225/
Mar 26, 2016 8:14 PM - danzca6: did you say you got this delivered by robo3d
Mar 26, 2016 8:14 PM - Mike Kelly: braydon gave it to him for the video
    Mar 26, 2016 8:15 PM - JasonSolves:
    Mar 26, 2016 8:15 PM - danzca6: interesting
Mar 26, 2016 8:15 PM - JasonSolves: well, I did buy the kickstarter
Mar 26, 2016 8:15 PM - JasonSolves: so he just traded me
    Mar 26, 2016 8:15 PM - Mike Kelly: that's a pretty severe angle, looks like a tr8*8
    Mar 26, 2016 8:15 PM - danzca6: oh, you're that jason
    Mar 26, 2016 8:15 PM - JasonSolves: indeed
    Mar 26, 2016 8:15 PM - danzca6: that is awesome
    Mar 26, 2016 8:16 PM - Mike Kelly: got a ruler handy :)
Mar 26, 2016 8:16 PM - Mike Kelly: try 400, move it up 10mm, see if it actually moves ~10mm
    Mar 26, 2016 8:16 PM - Mike Kelly: if it moves 20 then we know it's 800
Mar 26, 2016 8:16 PM - Mike Kelly: lemme know if you need assistance tweaking the firmware
Mar 26, 2016 8:16 PM - JasonSolves: the speed is much closer
Mar 26, 2016 8:18 PM - danzca6: jason, my hat is off to you sir...what a great story...you and your wife rock!
Mar 26, 2016 8:19 PM - Mike Kelly: i was having a day like you were yesterday
Mar 26, 2016 8:19 PM - Mike Kelly: just could not get things right, one mistake after another
Mar 26, 2016 8:19 PM - JasonSolves: I do get a silly start when connected now

Mar 26, 2016 8:20 PM - Mike Kelly: power cycle the arduino if you haven't
    Mar 26, 2016 8:20 PM - JasonSolves: will do
Mar 26, 2016 8:21 PM - JasonSolves: power cycle fixed the gibberish
    Mar 26, 2016 8:22 PM - JasonSolves: odd, I hit Home Z
Mar 26, 2016 8:22 PM - JasonSolves: and it goes up abotu 10 MM
    Mar 26, 2016 8:23 PM - JasonSolves: Thanks Dan
Mar 26, 2016 8:24 PM - JasonSolves: Funny thing is that biggest discussion my wife and I have is still "another baby?"
    Mar 26, 2016 8:24 PM - danzca6: 8 kids?
    Mar 26, 2016 8:25 PM - JasonSolves: we have 6
Mar 26, 2016 8:25 PM - danzca6: oh, saw 8 at the end of the video
Mar 26, 2016 8:25 PM - JasonSolves: My brothers kids were spending the night
Mar 26, 2016 8:25 PM - JasonSolves: yeah, I am sure we will get there
    Mar 26, 2016 8:25 PM - JasonSolves: my Van seats 12.
Mar 26, 2016 8:26 PM - JasonSolves: The State only allows 6 Kids total
Mar 26, 2016 8:26 PM - JasonSolves: If you want to Foster
    Mar 26, 2016 8:26 PM - danzca6: how many have you adopted?
    Mar 26, 2016 8:26 PM - JasonSolves: 4
    Mar 26, 2016 8:27 PM - danzca6: wow...my cousin was a foster parent for many years
Mar 26, 2016 8:27 PM - JasonSolves: We had 2 Boys, then lost a girl (turners Syndrom) @ 26 Weeks
    Mar 26, 2016 8:27 PM - danzca6: she just adopted twin boys
Mar 26, 2016 8:27 PM - JasonSolves: then a bunch of foster kids
Mar 26, 2016 8:27 PM - JasonSolves: adopted one of them
    Mar 26, 2016 8:27 PM - JasonSolves: then a group of 3
    Mar 26, 2016 8:28 PM - danzca6: man, sorry for the loss
Mar 26, 2016 8:28 PM - JasonSolves: yeah it has been 5 years
    Mar 26, 2016 8:28 PM - JasonSolves: thanks
Mar 26, 2016 8:28 PM - Mike Kelly: the world needs more people like you jason
Mar 26, 2016 8:29 PM - danzca6: well, you both have huge hearts to take in all those kids and want to keep going...that's great
Mar 26, 2016 8:29 PM - JasonSolves: that was not a fun pregnancy, so I am not 100% on having another one of them that way
Mar 26, 2016 8:29 PM - JasonSolves: it is funny, I did not think we were the "best" parents
Mar 26, 2016 8:29 PM - JasonSolves: but I think the bar (a lot of other parents) is lowering faster
Mar 26, 2016 8:30 PM - JasonSolves: maybe the world is just more selfish and short sighted
Mar 26, 2016 8:30 PM - danzca6: I think parenting is just doing your best...I don't think there is such a thing as the best parents. we all make mistakes
    Mar 26, 2016 8:30 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Mar 26, 2016 8:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i think parenting is about being there when you need to be
    Mar 26, 2016 8:31 PM - danzca6: exactly
Mar 26, 2016 8:31 PM - JasonSolves: I agree, and not ALWAYS being there
    Mar 26, 2016 8:31 PM - Mike Kelly: precisely
Mar 26, 2016 8:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope to get that chance
Mar 26, 2016 8:32 PM - Mike Kelly: if not there's always adoption
    Mar 26, 2016 8:32 PM - JasonSolves: I LOVE foster care
Mar 26, 2016 8:33 PM - JasonSolves: we are always open, but many of them just need a chance
Mar 26, 2016 8:34 PM - JasonSolves: FYI, I am giving up on the printer tonight
Mar 26, 2016 8:34 PM - danzca6: I'm glad you feel that way mike...to many couples just give up if they can't have kids together...lots of kids out there needing parents
    Mar 26, 2016 8:34 PM - JasonSolves: Home ALL Raises Z by 10mm
    Mar 26, 2016 8:34 PM - danzca6: up?
Mar 26, 2016 8:34 PM - JasonSolves: even in the northeast
    Mar 26, 2016 8:34 PM - JasonSolves: yeah I know Dan
Mar 26, 2016 8:35 PM - Mike Kelly: my wife is a natural mother so i think she's been good at convincing me of it's merit
Mar 26, 2016 8:35 PM - danzca6: can you tell it to go down 1mm and it goes down?
Mar 26, 2016 8:35 PM - Mike Kelly: just want to give some child the chance to do amazing things like i've been given
    Mar 26, 2016 8:35 PM - JasonSolves: yes
    Mar 26, 2016 8:35 PM - Mike Kelly: jason send M119

Mar 26, 2016 8:35 PM - danzca6: the world needs more engineers mk
Mar 26, 2016 8:36 PM - Mike Kelly: then lift up one auto level switch and tell me the status again
    Mar 26, 2016 8:36 PM - JasonSolves: triggered
Mar 26, 2016 8:36 PM - Mike Kelly: the world needs more free thinkers :)

    Mar 26, 2016 8:41 PM - danzca6: that's with 400?
    Mar 26, 2016 8:41 PM - JasonSolves: 800
    Mar 26, 2016 8:41 PM - Mike Kelly: 1600 then
    Mar 26, 2016 8:42 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder if you're using DVR 8825 stepper drivers...
    Mar 26, 2016 8:42 PM - JasonSolves: FYI " #define Z_MAX_PIN 19" is not happy

    Mar 26, 2016 8:46 PM - JasonSolves: uploading
    Mar 26, 2016 8:46 PM - danzca6: hell, if MK said 1600 or 3200, I would just trust it...haha

Mar 26, 2016 8:53 PM - JasonSolves: how much longer... I guess until you get a house.
Mar 26, 2016 8:53 PM - Mike Kelly: more fun just to keep working on printing than being in a boring hotel room
Mar 26, 2016 8:53 PM - danzca6: see, you don't need an apartment, just put a bed in your office
    Mar 26, 2016 8:53 PM - Mike Kelly: don't think i haven't considered that!

Mar 26, 2016 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: someone made a tardis with a light
Mar 26, 2016 8:59 PM - JasonSolves: yeah, I have a small tardis like 80 minutes, that has some overhand and some odd things
Mar 26, 2016 9:00 PM - JasonSolves: I have started giving them away rather than have 20 different colored tardis around
Mar 26, 2016 9:00 PM - JasonSolves: hey you are close to Matt now!

    Mar 26, 2016 9:05 PM - danzca6: rushing...it's been over a year...hehe
    Mar 26, 2016 9:05 PM - danzca6: I know what you are saying
Mar 26, 2016 9:05 PM - JasonSolves: Yeah, I spent some time @ robo offices.
Mar 26, 2016 9:05 PM - Mike Kelly: they just got the R1 good though!
Mar 26, 2016 9:05 PM - JasonSolves: they have LOTS of ideas
Mar 26, 2016 9:06 PM - JasonSolves: manufacturing is HARD
Mar 26, 2016 9:06 PM - Mike Kelly: design for manufacturing and design for reliability is very hard
    Mar 26, 2016 9:06 PM - Mike Kelly: i hope they've learned a lot
Mar 26, 2016 9:07 PM - Mike Kelly: and don't make the same mistakes
Mar 26, 2016 9:07 PM - danzca6: oh, I'm sure there are plenty of new ones to be made
Mar 26, 2016 9:07 PM - JasonSolves: yeah, #1 make a simple label that says WTF version and parts they put in each one
    Mar 26, 2016 9:08 PM - Mike Kelly: hahahahaha
Mar 26, 2016 9:08 PM - Mike Kelly: oh man
    Mar 26, 2016 9:08 PM - Mike Kelly: you're a dreamer you

Mar 26, 2016 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: staying up till midnight and getting up at 9 is messing with my circadian
    Mar 26, 2016 9:12 PM - Mike Kelly: it's nice having a flexible job
    Mar 26, 2016 9:12 PM - danzca6: 9 hours of sleep...man...not sure the last time I got that
    Mar 26, 2016 9:14 PM - Mike Kelly: it's been more like 12:30-1 to 8:30
Mar 26, 2016 9:14 PM - Mike Kelly: but yeah
    Mar 26, 2016 9:14 PM - Mike Kelly: nice to be a DINK :)
Mar 26, 2016 9:15 PM - danzca6: when kids come into the picture, you'll get used to just a few hours of sleep
    Mar 26, 2016 9:15 PM - Mike Kelly: i sure hope so, i've always been a sleeper
Mar 26, 2016 9:15 PM - danzca6: naps become your friend...10-15 minutes and all set to go
Mar 26, 2016 9:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i used to sleep like 13 hours as a baby
Mar 26, 2016 9:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i was 2 weeks late as a baby when my brother and sister were 2 weeks early
    Mar 26, 2016 9:16 PM - danzca6: wow...your parents were lucky...haha
    Mar 26, 2016 9:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i always say i was sleeping in :)
    Mar 26, 2016 9:16 PM - danzca6: haha
Mar 26, 2016 9:19 PM - danzca6: man....just went to print something and forgot I had hid an easter egg in there
    Mar 26, 2016 9:19 PM - Mike Kelly: lmao
    Mar 26, 2016 9:20 PM - danzca6: that could have been bad...and messy
    Mar 26, 2016 9:20 PM - Mike Kelly: indeed
Mar 26, 2016 11:28 PM - akumazedex: Is there a reason why the forum flags a thread I'm trying to make as spam/maliscious?
    Mar 26, 2016 11:32 PM - akumazedex: nvm, figured it out. :p
Mar 27, 2016 4:41 AM - Axel Fromell: How can I identify my printer so I can select the correct firmware
    Mar 27, 2016 4:57 AM - jbigler1986: Do you have autolevel
Mar 27, 2016 4:57 AM - jbigler1986: And do you have leads crews or couplers on the z axis rods
    Mar 27, 2016 5:01 AM - Bill Monroe: Justin
    Mar 27, 2016 5:02 AM - jbigler1986: Bill. Happy Easter!
Mar 27, 2016 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: you too Justin

Mar 27, 2016 8:00 AM - JasonSolves: MK... So I printed the Tardis, no issues! then I tried to print something else.... 2 layers then Temp Error. I did NOT to the Auto Tune After the firmware update. Probly should eh?
    Mar 27, 2016 8:04 AM - JasonSolves: M303 s230 c10 on the way
    Mar 27, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Mar 27, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd like to see what your temp graph looks like before the error
Mar 27, 2016 8:26 AM - Mike Kelly: snipping tool in windows
Mar 27, 2016 8:57 AM - JasonSolves: any idea how to make the plot longer in s3d?
Mar 27, 2016 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: unfortunately i don't, but when you get a temp fall it shuts down so you get the last data state stuck there
    Mar 27, 2016 9:26 AM - JasonSolves: indeed
Mar 27, 2016 9:27 AM - JasonSolves: it is printing now
    Mar 27, 2016 9:27 AM - JasonSolves: but temp is 215....214
    Mar 27, 2016 9:27 AM - JasonSolves: set ot 230
Mar 27, 2016 9:51 AM - Archania: time to put on the lcd screen!
Mar 27, 2016 10:15 AM - Geoff Herguth: I'm brand new to this. As a matter of fact I just got set up and am printing my first piece from the stock library.
    Mar 27, 2016 10:16 AM - jbigler1986: Congrats
Mar 27, 2016 10:17 AM - Geoff Herguth: I typically work min AutoCAD 2012. Is there a service that will convert .dwg 3D files to printable files for ROBO?
    Mar 27, 2016 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: Save them as stl files
Mar 27, 2016 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: I know in inventor pro you export it as a cad file I believe and it's an stl file.
Mar 27, 2016 10:34 AM - jbigler1986: Click Output tab > Send panel > Export. In the Export Data dialog box, enter a file name. Under Files of type, select Lithography (*.stl). Click Save. Select one or more solid objects. ... The file extension .stl is automatically appended to the file name.
    Mar 27, 2016 10:34 AM - jbigler1986: There you go
Mar 27, 2016 10:36 AM - Geoff Herguth: Thanks guys (and gals)
    Mar 27, 2016 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly:
Mar 27, 2016 11:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey MK was Eric Lien there?
Mar 27, 2016 11:11 AM - WheresWaldo: There was a least one Spider and a Herculien there from the video.
    Mar 27, 2016 11:43 AM - Archania: congrats Geoff!
Mar 27, 2016 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: Eric lien had his spider there
Mar 27, 2016 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: really nice guy
Mar 27, 2016 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: the herculien was not his
Mar 27, 2016 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: Give me a suggestion of something you want to see printed on the mark1 with carbon fiber
Mar 27, 2016 1:34 PM - daniel871: Print the heatwave vase with it, MK.
Mar 27, 2016 1:39 PM - daniel871: Okay, my CES Robo now has the 120mm case fan blowing on the stepper drivers (no more bottom cover) and the gigantic hole for the wires has been plugged to limit external airflow in the build chamber (ran the carriage to the top of the threaded rods so all of the wires were pulled in, then plugged the hole), flipped the PSU over so that the fan no longer blew air from the build chamber into the PSU...
Mar 27, 2016 1:41 PM - daniel871: And kludged the 200w heater with temperature controller together so that the temp sensor is at the bottom of the build area. Runs pretty well other than it taking a good while for the temp to reach 55C with the cool weather we've had, but once it got there today it's stayed there.

Mar 27, 2016 1:42 PM - daniel871: Will post results in around 4-5 hours. Going to go out and run errands and stuff and theoretically the Octopi should be done compiling the timelapse by then after the 3-hour print.
Mar 27, 2016 2:47 PM - jbigler1986: Never seen someone have as many issues as you. Not sure what you do to that thing
Mar 27, 2016 3:08 PM - hphaseAZ: Hello. Looking for some help with my Robo 3D R1. I purchased the lead screw update a while back and haven't been able to print correctly
Mar 27, 2016 3:10 PM - hphaseAZ: i updated the firmware but i think its still not raising up correctly. 1st layer looks ok but the 2nd layer crashes into the 1st layer
    Mar 27, 2016 3:22 PM - jbigler1986: What are your z steps
    Mar 27, 2016 3:29 PM - hphaseAZ: how do i check that?
Mar 27, 2016 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: What slicer are you using and do you have lcd
Mar 27, 2016 3:35 PM - hphaseAZ: found it in eeprom of MC

    Mar 27, 2016 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: that's right
Mar 27, 2016 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: send a 10mm command and measure it to make sure it goes up 10mm
Mar 27, 2016 3:38 PM - Mike Kelly: ie measure from the bar
Mar 27, 2016 3:41 PM - hphaseAZ: ok... let me grab a ruller
    Mar 27, 2016 3:41 PM - hphaseAZ: ruler
    Mar 27, 2016 3:43 PM - hphaseAZ: should i be using ROBO R1 Firmware 3.0 firmware? I purchased in 8/2014
    Mar 27, 2016 3:46 PM - jbigler1986: You installed the leadscrews correct
Mar 27, 2016 3:47 PM - jbigler1986: If so then that firmware is right
    Mar 27, 2016 3:49 PM - hphaseAZ: i did
Mar 27, 2016 3:50 PM - Mike Glass: sup MK, JB
Mar 27, 2016 3:51 PM - hphaseAZ: just refreshed the firmware. It reads 2560 Z now
Mar 27, 2016 3:54 PM - Mike Glass: should be 800 for the leadscrews
    Mar 27, 2016 3:54 PM - hphaseAZ: ok.. I'll change it
Mar 27, 2016 4:00 PM - hphaseAZ: ok. Tested and it moves 10.44
Mar 27, 2016 4:01 PM - Mike Glass: should be closer then that.
Mar 27, 2016 4:01 PM - Mike Glass: could be the flex of the bed though.
    Mar 27, 2016 4:01 PM - hphaseAZ: I'm using a pittsburgh digital indicator
Mar 27, 2016 4:02 PM - Mike Glass: Not familiar
Mar 27, 2016 4:02 PM - Mike Glass: cheapy or high quality?
    Mar 27, 2016 4:02 PM - hphaseAZ: Harbor Freight it's within .01mm
Mar 27, 2016 4:03 PM - Mike Glass: well 3d print a cube and then measure.
Mar 27, 2016 4:06 PM - jbigler1986: Open the firmware you are using in arduino software and make sure the z steps are at 800. If not change it then save and reflash
    Mar 27, 2016 4:06 PM - jbigler1986: Hola MG
Mar 27, 2016 4:06 PM - Mike Glass: he just did JB. HOLA

Mar 27, 2016 4:11 PM - hphaseAZ: getting the 1st couple of layers to start correctly has been my issue
Mar 27, 2016 4:12 PM - jbigler1986: Did you include the z offset in the start script tab
Mar 27, 2016 4:14 PM - hphaseAZ: yeah. I tried so many things
Mar 27, 2016 4:14 PM - Mike Glass: at least use cura to start
Mar 27, 2016 4:14 PM - hphaseAZ: I'm not moving from this seat until it's working right!!! lmao
Mar 27, 2016 4:15 PM - Mike Glass: we have all been in that seat
Mar 27, 2016 4:15 PM - daniel871: Article headline: "Area man dies fiddling with 3D printer."

Mar 27, 2016 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly: This mark1 is really interesting
Mar 27, 2016 4:35 PM - Mike Kelly: It cuts the carbon fiber then the part that's already adhered kind of pulls it out
Mar 27, 2016 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: Hmmm. What else does it print besides carbon fiber
    Mar 27, 2016 4:55 PM - jbigler1986: How fast is it
    Mar 27, 2016 4:56 PM - Mike Kelly: uh
    Mar 27, 2016 4:56 PM - Mike Kelly: i have no idea
    Mar 27, 2016 4:56 PM - Mike Kelly: it's pretty fast
Mar 27, 2016 4:57 PM - Mike Kelly: speed is overrated really
Mar 27, 2016 4:57 PM - Mike Kelly: the difference between 120mm/s and 80mm/s is like 10 minutes on an hour print
    Mar 27, 2016 5:02 PM - jbigler1986: But 400mm/s is a different story
Mar 27, 2016 5:03 PM - Mike Kelly: not really
Mar 27, 2016 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: So do you start working this week
Mar 27, 2016 5:03 PM - Mike Kelly: you'll p much always be limited by the rate at which you can convert solid plastic to reach the tg
    Mar 27, 2016 5:03 PM - Mike Kelly: i started last monday
    Mar 27, 2016 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: Oh. Well then. Liking it?
    Mar 27, 2016 5:04 PM - Mike Kelly: definitely
Mar 27, 2016 5:04 PM - Mike Kelly: never knew why people worked after 5 till i had a job i actually wanted to be at

Mar 27, 2016 5:06 PM - jbigler1986: Nice. I want to see all of the number 1s go down
Mar 27, 2016 5:07 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah being at a job that you actually like helps so much
    Mar 27, 2016 5:14 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
    Mar 27, 2016 5:15 PM - jbigler1986: Glad you are happy
    Mar 27, 2016 5:15 PM - Mike Kelly: ditto

    Mar 27, 2016 5:17 PM - Mike Kelly: sweet
Mar 27, 2016 5:18 PM - jbigler1986: 1 left. I do not like ND at all but am rooting for them

    Mar 27, 2016 5:22 PM - hphaseAZ: if i send a Z 10mm and it's moving 9.91 would i set the Z offset to .9?
Mar 27, 2016 5:22 PM - jbigler1986: Z offset you will just have to play with. Star
Mar 27, 2016 5:23 PM - jbigler1986: Start at like -1 and go from there
Mar 27, 2016 5:24 PM - Mike Kelly: why do people ask me for help on a thread then don't include a link
    Mar 27, 2016 5:46 PM - jbigler1986: Good question
Mar 27, 2016 6:20 PM - daniel871: Well, my sample size of 1 for using the screen protector is that it works really well as a build plate surface material. Too well, though.
Mar 27, 2016 6:20 PM - daniel871: Removing the 3DBenchy from it tore out the section it printed on with the base of the Benchy.
Mar 27, 2016 6:22 PM - daniel871: Reprinting with some different retraction settings on regular old glue stick + glass.
Mar 27, 2016 6:29 PM - Mike Glass: did you let it cool completly?
    Mar 27, 2016 6:34 PM - daniel871: Yeah, it was down to 19C ambient.
Mar 27, 2016 6:34 PM - daniel871: Print finished something like 3 hours ago while I was out running errands.
Mar 27, 2016 6:34 PM - daniel871: (dinner, groceries for next week, etc.)
Mar 27, 2016 6:37 PM - jbigler1986: Having problems with the regular glass bed?

Mar 27, 2016 6:53 PM - Mike Kelly: i like this one more
    Mar 27, 2016 6:53 PM - Mike Kelly: and it's cheaper
    Mar 27, 2016 6:53 PM - Mike Kelly: it's basically a razor blade
Mar 27, 2016 6:53 PM - Mike Kelly: cricut might be as good if you sharpened the edges
Mar 27, 2016 6:59 PM - jbigler1986: I will just continue to destroy my bed with the Robo scraper
Mar 27, 2016 7:06 PM - Mike Kelly: https://flexionextruder.com/shop/single/ getting one of these to integrate into a robo
    Mar 27, 2016 7:07 PM - jbigler1986: Nice. I like that design
    Mar 27, 2016 7:07 PM - jbigler1986: Think it will be tough
Mar 27, 2016 7:09 PM - Mike Glass: bondtech to crappy to print with flexible?
Mar 27, 2016 7:11 PM - jbigler1986: Notre Dame is using way to much clock
Mar 27, 2016 7:42 PM - Mike Kelly: the bondtech is great at flexibles, but i like free things

Mar 27, 2016 10:20 PM - hphaseAZ: Need to figure out how to smash the raft down lower. It pulls up at the begining of the print
Mar 27, 2016 10:21 PM - hphaseAZ: sorry, the skirt... not the raft
    Mar 27, 2016 10:41 PM - hphaseAZ: anyone on?

Mar 27, 2016 10:57 PM - NFOsec: so your z-offset needs tweaking or you don't have enough contact initially when extruding to the bed such as using PEI, PVA (hairspray/glue stick), or Zebra Plate... try adjusting your Z offset a little.
    Mar 27, 2016 10:59 PM - hphaseAZ: i have had my Z offset at 1. Trying 1.1 now
Mar 27, 2016 11:06 PM - hphaseAZ: looking better for the part (middle) but the skirt didn't do so well. It's a quick 10 min print job
Mar 27, 2016 11:16 PM - hphaseAZ: didn't turn out so well. the top of the part was getting smashed at the end. trying .9
Mar 28, 2016 1:57 AM - jbigler1986: Offset is only for the first layer. After that no other layers should smash. Check to make sure the ramps fan is working
Mar 28, 2016 2:54 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Mar 28, 2016 4:28 AM - daniel871: This is pretty funny. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolo...-ai-turns-into-a-hitler-loving-sex-robot-wit/
    Mar 28, 2016 4:47 AM - daniel871: Also, LOL:
Mar 28, 2016 5:14 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning robonauts
Mar 28, 2016 5:15 AM - JeffTheMess: if anyone decides to spoil BvS [IMG]
    Mar 28, 2016 5:56 AM - daniel871: Spoiler: The heroes win.
Mar 28, 2016 5:57 AM - daniel871: Also, this incarnation of Luthor is pathetic.
Mar 28, 2016 6:14 AM - daniel871: That video I posted above was more a joke about Ben Affleck getting sad when asked how he felt about people saying they hated the movie.
    Mar 28, 2016 6:15 AM - JustinRF: Hey!
    Mar 28, 2016 6:18 AM - JeffTheMess: hi there
Mar 28, 2016 7:16 AM - Archania: Question. When it goes through the 9 point auto leveling before a print, it should be basically the outline of heated bed... Right?
    Mar 28, 2016 7:19 AM - JeffTheMess: yup
Mar 28, 2016 7:19 AM - daniel871: Depends on whether the heater was mounted in the correct place relative to the markings on the glass, but yeah.
Mar 28, 2016 7:20 AM - Archania: Hmm crap. That can be fixed right? Lol mine is a little off
Mar 28, 2016 7:20 AM - daniel871: A little off is fine. There was a stretch of Robos where the markings on the glass weren't exactly in the right place either.
Mar 28, 2016 7:21 AM - daniel871: As long as you have your print situated in the center of the print area in your slicer you should be fine.
Mar 28, 2016 7:21 AM - Archania: Ya I've been shifting them down a bit to compensate
Mar 28, 2016 7:21 AM - daniel871: Since it bases the actual print on where it thinks Zero is after homing out on X & Y, the Autolevel just helps it try to adjust for a bed that isn't perfectly flat.
Mar 28, 2016 7:22 AM - JeffTheMess: unless you printing on the entire bed
Mar 28, 2016 7:22 AM - JeffTheMess: using every mm
    Mar 28, 2016 7:23 AM - daniel871: If you're doing that you're kind of screwed anyway though.
Mar 28, 2016 7:23 AM - Archania: So far its been banging out prints like crazy. I am just thinking at work about it
Mar 28, 2016 7:24 AM - daniel871: As long as your print stays smaller than about 8.2" x 8.2" on the glass you should be fine.
Mar 28, 2016 7:24 AM - daniel871: (the actual size of the heater on the bottom of the glass)
Mar 28, 2016 7:24 AM - Archania: Doing a 20 hour print at the moment and my son says its doing good
Mar 28, 2016 7:24 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah pretty much
Mar 28, 2016 7:25 AM - daniel871: My experience has been that asking someone how the print is doing is jinxing it.
Mar 28, 2016 7:25 AM - Archania: Lol. I have 2 going. A 37 hour on my prusa and this one on the robo...
Mar 28, 2016 7:26 AM - daniel871: Enjoy your hotend clog/bed adhesion failure resulting in a bird nest.
    Mar 28, 2016 7:26 AM - JeffTheMess: lol
Mar 28, 2016 7:26 AM - Archania: Lol had that yesterday
    Mar 28, 2016 7:26 AM - Archania: But thanks...
    Mar 28, 2016 7:39 AM - daniel871: https://twitter.com/qikipedia/status/712594967810732032?ref_src=twsrc^tfw
Mar 28, 2016 7:40 AM - JeffTheMess: nice, this is why i love the internet
    Mar 28, 2016 7:41 AM - daniel871: Also this: [IMG]
    Mar 28, 2016 8:22 AM - danzca6: wow, this is cool...https://www.yahoo.com/tech/microsoft-hololens-delivers-star-wars-200933350.html
Mar 28, 2016 8:23 AM - danzca6: BTW, Axis, if you are still here, I really liked the eNable video you posted last week. That's an awesome thing you are doing.
Mar 28, 2016 8:33 AM - AxisLab: Hey thanks! the youtube one where it was just me talking? or did you see the one of her actually trying the arm for the first time?
    Mar 28, 2016 8:38 AM - toymaker: http://www.nwcn.com/mb/features/holoportation-mixes-teleportation-augmented-reality-1/104203560
Mar 28, 2016 8:41 AM - danzca6: I saw both...the one with her using the hand was a great testiment of how much these change kids lives
    Mar 28, 2016 8:42 AM - danzca6: she seemed very happy
Mar 28, 2016 8:42 AM - danzca6: toy, that is the same story I found on yahoo...neat tech
Mar 28, 2016 8:49 AM - toymaker: i wonder what the recommended systems specs are....
    Mar 28, 2016 8:50 AM - danzca6: I'm hoping not too outlandish...since the device looks to be 3K
Mar 28, 2016 8:53 AM - toymaker: ya... it doesnt seem like it pushing the same amount iof pixels as other vr headsets
Mar 28, 2016 8:53 AM - AxisLab: Yeah, she is was one happy girl. She will be back in the shop today, Fox news is coming for a story. Should be fun.
Mar 28, 2016 8:54 AM - toymaker: however... to capture someone in 3d in real time....
Mar 28, 2016 8:54 AM - danzca6: post a link to the story from Fox if they put it online
Mar 28, 2016 8:55 AM - AxisLab: Oh you know I will. In 20 different places lol.
Mar 28, 2016 8:56 AM - danzca6: My wife is a peds RN and I told her if she ever gets a kid in need come through the door to let them know I would make one for them. Thankfully nothing yet, but on the other hand (pun not intended) I really want to make one
Mar 28, 2016 8:56 AM - AxisLab: my store needs all the shameless self promotion it can get.
Mar 28, 2016 8:56 AM - AxisLab: My first one I just made for myself, to see if I could. It's a great conversaion starter about 3D printing, that's for sure.
    Mar 28, 2016 8:57 AM - danzca6: hmmm, that's a good point
Mar 28, 2016 8:57 AM - danzca6: which one would you recommend for a trial run
    Mar 28, 2016 8:57 AM - AxisLab: A raptor reloaded
Mar 28, 2016 8:58 AM - rn_1604: Hi, I just bought my robo3D print and during my 1st print, mattercontrol somehow just crashed and my print is stopped abruptly. Is there anyway to resume it?
    Mar 28, 2016 8:58 AM - AxisLab: it's on the 'verse
    Mar 28, 2016 8:58 AM - danzca6: thanks...I will try it out
    Mar 28, 2016 8:58 AM - toymaker: ditch mc
Mar 28, 2016 8:58 AM - AxisLab: just start with the fingers and go from there
Mar 28, 2016 8:58 AM - toymaker: unistall mc from computer
    Mar 28, 2016 8:58 AM - rn_1604: :O
Mar 28, 2016 8:59 AM - toymaker: never talk of mc agin lol
    Mar 28, 2016 8:59 AM - toymaker: use cura, repetier, s3d
Mar 28, 2016 8:59 AM - rn_1604: what software should i use? But anyway is there no way to resume print?
    Mar 28, 2016 8:59 AM - danzca6: nope
    Mar 28, 2016 8:59 AM - rn_1604: :(
Mar 28, 2016 9:00 AM - danzca6: you could get an LCD or setup to print via sd card on the robo so if any computer glitches happen, it doesn't ruin your print
Mar 28, 2016 9:00 AM - toymaker: dont waste your time and plastic with mc
Mar 28, 2016 9:00 AM - AxisLab: Get a box for failed prints. After a year, throw them all away and reuse the box. Rinse and repeat.
    Mar 28, 2016 9:00 AM - AxisLab: Failures happen
Mar 28, 2016 9:00 AM - danzca6: or get a filustruder and melt the scrap into more filament
Mar 28, 2016 9:00 AM - toymaker: i like to shoot my failed prints ( very few these days) with pellets gun
Mar 28, 2016 9:01 AM - danzca6: more work than it is worth probably with a filastruder
Mar 28, 2016 9:01 AM - rn_1604: robo3D R1 plus allows printing via SD independent of the mattercontrol software?
Mar 28, 2016 9:01 AM - AxisLab: Or use the $800 filastruder money for candy and beef jerky.
Mar 28, 2016 9:02 AM - toymaker: ive probably done over 2000 prints by now
Mar 28, 2016 9:03 AM - danzca6: yes, haven't done it, but yes you can print disconnected with mc...I think you have to start with MC and then disconnect...I think there is more info in the startup video from robo
    Mar 28, 2016 9:03 AM - danzca6: I just use my LCD for that
Mar 28, 2016 9:04 AM - toymaker: im old school i guess, no auto level, no lcd
    Mar 28, 2016 9:06 AM - danzca6: you print tethered toy?
    Mar 28, 2016 9:06 AM - danzca6: or do you use octoprint
    Mar 28, 2016 9:06 AM - AxisLab: 3 robo's, 3 Lcd, life is so much easier. http://i.imgur.com/xVCzEe5.jpg
    Mar 28, 2016 9:07 AM - toymaker: tethered
Mar 28, 2016 9:07 AM - AxisLab: My army of Rob machines
    Mar 28, 2016 9:08 AM - toymaker: nice
Mar 28, 2016 9:08 AM - toymaker: u shoudl make your own printer
Mar 28, 2016 9:09 AM - AxisLab: I am thinking of selling my older Um2 to fund a larger 12x12 build. tempting, but i've got too many bills lol.
Mar 28, 2016 9:09 AM - danzca6: I hate having my PC on during prints longer than an hour...too many pause moments when I consume too much CPU doing other things. I like the LCD for that
    Mar 28, 2016 9:09 AM - danzca6: selling a um2?

    Mar 28, 2016 9:10 AM - rn_1604: cool
Mar 28, 2016 9:10 AM - AxisLab: yeah 1600. It's got over 2000 hours on it. Could use their new hotend upgrade
Mar 28, 2016 9:10 AM - rn_1604: will search up on SD card printing
Mar 28, 2016 9:10 AM - rn_1604: probably diy LCD in the future
Mar 28, 2016 9:10 AM - toymaker: i tell u the secret to building a printer..... linear actuator
    Mar 28, 2016 9:11 AM - danzca6: LCD is cheap...20-60 bucks
Mar 28, 2016 9:12 AM - danzca6: 1604, goto robo homepage, under learn, and watch startup video
Mar 28, 2016 9:12 AM - danzca6: I think it shows how to do it
    Mar 28, 2016 9:12 AM - danzca6: I can't get to youtube at the moment though
    Mar 28, 2016 9:12 AM - rn_1604: alright thanks danzca6 :)
    Mar 28, 2016 9:12 AM - toymaker: http://stores.ebay.com/IndustrialPa...2379011&_sid=1123551221&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 axis check these out
Mar 28, 2016 9:15 AM - AxisLab: Yeah, we have spoke of that seller before. Remember my buddy that built the 660x660mm bot? He sources from their a bit.
    Mar 28, 2016 9:15 AM - AxisLab: there
Mar 28, 2016 9:19 AM - toymaker: ive spent close to 3k on linear motion componnts from him
    Mar 28, 2016 9:28 AM - AxisLab: Whew. Hefty.

    Mar 28, 2016 10:45 AM - Harry: Hey All
    Mar 28, 2016 10:47 AM - toymaker: howdy
Mar 28, 2016 10:48 AM - Harry: hows everything going?
Mar 28, 2016 10:49 AM - toymaker: good, im pusing close to 2000 prints on my robo beta
Mar 28, 2016 10:49 AM - Harry: thats awesome! Congrats!
Mar 28, 2016 10:49 AM - Harry: which version robo is it?
Mar 28, 2016 10:50 AM - toymaker: beta? it had the drawer rails
Mar 28, 2016 10:50 AM - Harry: nice, yea thats the beta
Mar 28, 2016 10:50 AM - toymaker: which i completely wore out the plastic inside them lol
Mar 28, 2016 10:50 AM - Harry: i'll be around for a little today so let me know if you guys have any questions or anything. i'll be popping by every few minutes
    Mar 28, 2016 10:50 AM - danzca6: thankfully you said "had"
Mar 28, 2016 10:51 AM - toymaker: i machined my own pillow blocks out of aluminum
    Mar 28, 2016 10:51 AM - danzca6: Autopsy still has her rails
    Mar 28, 2016 10:51 AM - danzca6: nice
Mar 28, 2016 10:52 AM - danzca6: I thought about getting an aluminum sheet from amazon and machining the main base plate
Mar 28, 2016 10:52 AM - danzca6: MK said it didn't do much for his when he did it, so I thought I would save the $20
Mar 28, 2016 10:53 AM - danzca6: still might be fun to do someday
Mar 28, 2016 11:07 AM - toymaker: i machined the based plate out of aluminun too... i like to think it helps in rigidity
Mar 28, 2016 11:07 AM - toymaker: but klinda pointless once i swuitched to the ballscrew setup
    Mar 28, 2016 11:08 AM - daniel871: Well, the 240mm x 240mm silicone heater bed shipped today.
Mar 28, 2016 11:09 AM - daniel871: Get that mounted and relayed in properly and the PT100 v6 also mounted and hooked up, then I'll just be working on dialing in print settings.
Mar 28, 2016 11:20 AM - danzca6: is that for the CES Robo daniel?
Mar 28, 2016 11:22 AM - toymaker: how much was the heater?
    Mar 28, 2016 11:37 AM - daniel871: Yeah, for the CES Robo.
Mar 28, 2016 11:37 AM - daniel871: Hang on, watch this while I dig up the listing. http://i.imgur.com/j3kklnD.gifv

    Mar 28, 2016 11:38 AM - daniel871: $15 for the heater + shipping.
Mar 28, 2016 11:43 AM - toymaker: dont mess with jerry
    Mar 28, 2016 11:51 AM - danzca6: daniel, I can't read half the stuff on that site...haha
Mar 28, 2016 11:51 AM - danzca6: so it shipped, probably take a couple weeks to get here from China
    Mar 28, 2016 11:53 AM - daniel871: Yep.
Mar 28, 2016 11:53 AM - daniel871: Same plate Waldo used for his heated bed modification.
    Mar 28, 2016 11:54 AM - daniel871: Waldo's modification for reference (click)
    Mar 28, 2016 11:55 AM - danzca6: do you do a lot of ABS?
Mar 28, 2016 11:56 AM - daniel871: No, but I've been trying to print Nylon and other similar high-warp variants.
Mar 28, 2016 11:56 AM - daniel871: I also have a bunch of ABS spools I need to use up at some point.
Mar 28, 2016 11:58 AM - danzca6: at least you will be assured that your entire print area is heated. probably more effecient heating as well compared to the stock element.
Mar 28, 2016 11:59 AM - danzca6: ww had to repaint his plate I think, so you can make the new white box the actual size of the build plate as well.
Mar 28, 2016 12:05 PM - daniel871: I don't really see any need for re-drawing the box if I end up stripping the paint off while removing the stock heater.
Mar 28, 2016 12:07 PM - daniel871: Just mark where the start of the build area is after homing out with the glass in place, then remove the glass and apply the new heater/insulation to the bottom of the bed, wire everything up, start testing.
    Mar 28, 2016 12:07 PM - danzca6: you could always apply a creative logo or saying ;)
Mar 28, 2016 12:08 PM - daniel871: "The heater Robo3d should have used to start with"
Mar 28, 2016 12:08 PM - NFOsec: Greetings fellow Robonics.
Mar 28, 2016 12:08 PM - danzca6: NFO...I thought you only came out at night
    Mar 28, 2016 12:08 PM - danzca6: haha
    Mar 28, 2016 12:08 PM - daniel871: Mostly
Mar 28, 2016 12:08 PM - NFOsec: HA. I'm here days/nights/afternoons, and in different dimensions.
Mar 28, 2016 12:08 PM - NFOsec: often just reading the shaming that you and daniel do...
Mar 28, 2016 12:09 PM - NFOsec: seems to be a theme. So, how goes?
Mar 28, 2016 12:09 PM - danzca6: shaming...I no not of what you talk about
Mar 28, 2016 12:09 PM - NFOsec: "you could always apply a creative logo or saying"... you're supporting if not contributing to the delinguency of a mental minor... :)
Mar 28, 2016 12:10 PM - daniel871: Trying to determine the best cold end solution to the CES Robo's habit of shredding any filament that is fed to it with the tensioners actually tightened enough for the bearing to contact the filament.
Mar 28, 2016 12:10 PM - NFOsec: bashing, shaming, all that crap.
    Mar 28, 2016 12:10 PM - danzca6: oh...well...there's that
    Mar 28, 2016 12:10 PM - NFOsec: mmm....
Mar 28, 2016 12:10 PM - NFOsec: heating the cold end so it can be exstruded perhaps? :)
Mar 28, 2016 12:11 PM - daniel871: Cold end = Wade Extruder with drive bolt; Hot End = Actual heated part of extruder.
Mar 28, 2016 12:11 PM - NFOsec: it was a JOKE... my whole point.
    Mar 28, 2016 12:11 PM - NFOsec: the solution is a bondtech exstruder. :)
    Mar 28, 2016 12:11 PM - danzca6: maybe two for good measure
Mar 28, 2016 12:11 PM - NFOsec: I have had zero shreds, clogs, etc. since installing in October.
Mar 28, 2016 12:11 PM - daniel871: Just need a direct mounting bracket for the one I have.
Mar 28, 2016 12:12 PM - NFOsec: use pretty mucy 9 variations of filaments all to great success.
Mar 28, 2016 12:12 PM - danzca6: wonder about the new e3d titan extruder and how it would hold up compared to stock vs bondtech
Mar 28, 2016 12:12 PM - NFOsec: wades needs to do the dual-roller approach vs. one roller, one geared end.
Mar 28, 2016 12:13 PM - NFOsec: E3D Titan, is that the quad?
    Mar 28, 2016 12:13 PM - danzca6: no, it's a new extruder
Mar 28, 2016 12:13 PM - danzca6: not sure it is for sale just yet
Mar 28, 2016 12:13 PM - danzca6: I think they showed it off at the MRRF
Mar 28, 2016 12:13 PM - NFOsec: oh that one,, yeah. sorry I remember...
Mar 28, 2016 12:13 PM - NFOsec: Saw it in the 3Ders.org mag or something.
Mar 28, 2016 12:14 PM - NFOsec: well, the problem from what I saw doesn't look like they really addressed the feed that much different than previous approaches, but even with the cost, the bondtech has been extremely reliable for me.
Mar 28, 2016 12:15 PM - NFOsec: the only thing I have to remember is if I don't pump clean out the hot end I need to run an extrusion out before starting a job because you could get clumping from residual filament left behind, but a simple extrude 10-50mm does the trick.
Mar 28, 2016 12:20 PM - NFOsec: I always wondered if the smooth wheel on the Greg's Wade could have been changed to a free-spinning precision bearing geared wheel.
Mar 28, 2016 12:21 PM - daniel871: You'd need something similar to the interlocking gears on the Bondtech to really get it to work I think.
Mar 28, 2016 12:21 PM - daniel871: I posted on the Google+ posting for the Bondtech V2/Robo3D asking for the STL files for the direct mount (figure on printing on the i3 and then mounting on the Robo).
Mar 28, 2016 12:22 PM - NFOsec: because if you apply force from a formed object unto a uniform object into another uniform object you're not going to get a decent form wrap on the middle object and would require additional tension/.resistance in order to grab the object. Use another gear and you can tighten all you want, but at one point it won't matter.
Mar 28, 2016 12:22 PM - NFOsec: the mount file is posted in the forums here.
Mar 28, 2016 12:22 PM - NFOsec: Martin posted them some time ago.
Mar 28, 2016 12:22 PM - NFOsec: universal and I think one specific to the R1++++ model.
Mar 28, 2016 12:25 PM - daniel871: I found the one for the older R1, but not one for the R1+
Mar 28, 2016 12:25 PM - daniel871: Though all that would really change is you lose the quick-removal plate for the hotend.

Mar 28, 2016 12:25 PM - NFOsec: let me see because he responded to me originally.
    Mar 28, 2016 12:26 PM - daniel871: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/bondtech-v2-extruder-thoughts.6779/#post-59255
Mar 28, 2016 12:26 PM - NFOsec: actually, that's pretty much true. no quick removal plate needed anymore. screws fit beautifully.
Mar 28, 2016 12:30 PM - daniel871: What size inserts did you use for yours as far as the length of the insert went?
    Mar 28, 2016 12:31 PM - daniel871: M5 & M3, then a couple socket head cap screws for each.
    Mar 28, 2016 12:41 PM - danzca6: daniel, don't you already have a bondtech?
    Mar 28, 2016 12:41 PM - danzca6: or just not the V2
    Mar 28, 2016 12:47 PM - daniel871: I have the V2, not the QR.
Mar 28, 2016 12:48 PM - daniel871: Tried Bowden feeding it on the original R1 and had no end of binding issues in the Bowden tube when trying semi-flexible filaments.
    Mar 28, 2016 12:52 PM - danzca6: ah, ok
Mar 28, 2016 1:02 PM - danzca6: and the QR is the newest...can't even find the V2 on their site. $135...I haven't had any issues with what I have to justify the cost yet...but someday
    Mar 28, 2016 1:05 PM - JasonSolves: how D Do Dee?
    Mar 28, 2016 1:09 PM - danzca6: Hey Jason...have a good Easter
Mar 28, 2016 1:11 PM - danzca6: hopefully your printer is still printing ok after Saturday night
Mar 28, 2016 1:25 PM - toymaker: can a v2 bontech be converted to the qr?
    Mar 28, 2016 1:27 PM - JasonSolves: nope
Mar 28, 2016 1:27 PM - JasonSolves: dan, it worked for 1 print
Mar 28, 2016 1:28 PM - danzca6: good question. not sure I've seen anything like that. I think Bondtech is a member here that you could ask
Mar 28, 2016 1:28 PM - JasonSolves: just will not stay close enough to the set temp
    Mar 28, 2016 1:29 PM - JasonSolves: [IMG]
Mar 28, 2016 1:29 PM - danzca6: shoot...and everything is connected fine to the board? nothing loose
Mar 28, 2016 1:29 PM - JasonSolves: that is in the middle of a print
Mar 28, 2016 1:29 PM - JasonSolves: I think there is an issue with the PID
    Mar 28, 2016 1:29 PM - JasonSolves: I set it, then do M500
Mar 28, 2016 1:30 PM - JasonSolves: even set it in the startup
    Mar 28, 2016 1:30 PM - JasonSolves: But when I do a M501 it has different values, I guess I should set in config.h
Mar 28, 2016 1:30 PM - toymaker: cool... the qr bondtech shares the same internal gears as the v2
Mar 28, 2016 1:31 PM - toymaker: and can be uprgraded the the qr spec
Mar 28, 2016 1:31 PM - danzca6: where did you find that toy
    Mar 28, 2016 1:32 PM - toymaker: werbsite
    Mar 28, 2016 1:32 PM - danzca6: hardy har har
    Mar 28, 2016 1:32 PM - toymaker: http://www.fabbaloo.com/blog/2015/1...ncludes-handy-features#.Vk-Iy8MzGD0.wordpress
    Mar 28, 2016 1:33 PM - toymaker: 3rd paragraph
Mar 28, 2016 1:33 PM - TstarkEngineering: Im not crazy am I? the actual build volume is shifted on the build plate when comparing to the heated plate outline marks.
    Mar 28, 2016 1:33 PM - JasonSolves: T you are 100% correct
Mar 28, 2016 1:33 PM - JasonSolves: the marks mean NOTHING
Mar 28, 2016 1:33 PM - TstarkEngineering: what was that all about?
    Mar 28, 2016 1:33 PM - JasonSolves: are you using S3d?
Mar 28, 2016 1:33 PM - TstarkEngineering: why would you design it that day
    Mar 28, 2016 1:34 PM - TstarkEngineering: way*
    Mar 28, 2016 1:34 PM - JasonSolves: I have NO idea
Mar 28, 2016 1:34 PM - TstarkEngineering: I thought maybe i was crazy and tried to offset it really quick in s3d nope hit the hardstops lol
Mar 28, 2016 1:35 PM - JasonSolves: do you see the build plate in s3d?
Mar 28, 2016 1:35 PM - TstarkEngineering: havent really payed attention let me open it up
Mar 28, 2016 1:35 PM - JasonSolves: I got an STL which helps
Mar 28, 2016 1:36 PM - TstarkEngineering: lmao its shifted on there, i cantly believe i didnt even notice that
Mar 28, 2016 1:36 PM - TstarkEngineering: fail on my part
    Mar 28, 2016 1:36 PM - JasonSolves: [IMG]
Mar 28, 2016 1:36 PM - JasonSolves: yeah, my s3d did not have it
Mar 28, 2016 1:36 PM - JasonSolves: but once I added the .stl it all made sense
Mar 28, 2016 1:37 PM - TstarkEngineering: I wonder what their intention was, I would of saved money and just made the bed that much smaller
Mar 28, 2016 1:37 PM - TstarkEngineering: no point in 2 inches of nothing
Mar 28, 2016 1:38 PM - JasonSolves: kinda, I think the layout of the printer causes that
Mar 28, 2016 1:38 PM - JasonSolves: you need the extra to deal with the movement parts
Mar 28, 2016 1:39 PM - TstarkEngineering: maybe I havent actually looked at the y axis...maybe more for visual uniformity too
Mar 28, 2016 1:39 PM - TstarkEngineering: well thank you jason for the quick response :)
Mar 28, 2016 1:39 PM - JasonSolves: yeah that is why the R2 and Z axis print beds seem logical
    Mar 28, 2016 1:39 PM - JasonSolves: squar eeven
    Mar 28, 2016 1:40 PM - JasonSolves: square even
Mar 28, 2016 1:40 PM - TstarkEngineering: not going to be buying an r2 but has there been anymore word on it?
    Mar 28, 2016 1:41 PM - JasonSolves: nope
Mar 28, 2016 1:41 PM - TstarkEngineering: didnt think so
Mar 28, 2016 1:41 PM - danzca6: I heard there is going to be a big announcement about it during CES 2017
Mar 28, 2016 1:41 PM - TstarkEngineering: lmao i hope you are being funny dan
    Mar 28, 2016 1:41 PM - JasonSolves: oh
    Mar 28, 2016 1:42 PM - danzca6: sorry...there goes my snarkiness again
    Mar 28, 2016 1:42 PM - TstarkEngineering: haha
    Mar 28, 2016 1:42 PM - TstarkEngineering: i find that comment acceptable
    Mar 28, 2016 1:42 PM - TstarkEngineering: touche'
Mar 28, 2016 1:43 PM - danzca6: well, I have seen robo selling off R1 refurbs and such like they are trying to get rid of stock
Mar 28, 2016 1:43 PM - TstarkEngineering: I think theyve been trying to do that for awhile now
Mar 28, 2016 1:43 PM - danzca6: It's possible that they might be aligning themselves to start introducing the R2 soon
Mar 28, 2016 1:43 PM - TstarkEngineering: if they really wanted them to go they do a price drop on everything
Mar 28, 2016 1:44 PM - danzca6: yeah, I just see them advertising it more
    Mar 28, 2016 1:44 PM - TstarkEngineering: true
    Mar 28, 2016 1:44 PM - danzca6: true
Mar 28, 2016 1:44 PM - danzca6: and staples just picked them up as well
Mar 28, 2016 1:44 PM - TstarkEngineering: id probably buy an r1 for 400 but not 499 that extra 100 makes the difference
Mar 28, 2016 1:44 PM - TstarkEngineering: not like i need more printers but ya..
Mar 28, 2016 1:45 PM - danzca6: I think the next printer for me is one I build. The robo has been great, I just would want to venture out to new styles
Mar 28, 2016 1:45 PM - TstarkEngineering: im still waiting for my Bigbox
Mar 28, 2016 1:46 PM - TstarkEngineering: cant wait for that one
Mar 28, 2016 1:46 PM - danzca6: those are solid printers...I like what I have seen with them
    Mar 28, 2016 1:46 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
Mar 28, 2016 1:46 PM - TstarkEngineering: there are still tweeks it seems here and there but they will be solid once everyone gets theirs and make improvements
Mar 28, 2016 1:47 PM - TstarkEngineering: haha the original r2 add lol
Mar 28, 2016 1:47 PM - TstarkEngineering: that looks just like it...o wait
Mar 28, 2016 1:47 PM - danzca6: You should photoshop that to cross out 2014, put in 2015, cross it out, and then 2016
Mar 28, 2016 1:48 PM - TstarkEngineering: omg i think something even better... let me see if I can do it
Mar 28, 2016 1:52 PM - danzca6: hmmm, when did Robo launch the RoboEdu? Just saw that on their site. Surprised I didn't see more advertising for that.
    Mar 28, 2016 1:52 PM - danzca6: looks like classes start 12/15/15
Mar 28, 2016 1:55 PM - Mike Kelly: FYI the dji phantom 3 is on close out at Amazon for 480
    Mar 28, 2016 1:55 PM - danzca6: that's cheap
Mar 28, 2016 1:57 PM - Mike Kelly: I thought so as well. Made the plunge and got an extra battery
    Mar 28, 2016 1:58 PM - danzca6: darn...now I want one
Mar 28, 2016 1:59 PM - JasonSolves: I saw something on you tube about mapping with one
Mar 28, 2016 1:59 PM - danzca6: yeah, there have been some articles about that
Mar 28, 2016 1:59 PM - danzca6: you can create a 3d render of your house and such
Mar 28, 2016 2:00 PM - danzca6: not sure how good it is, but pretty cool
    Mar 28, 2016 2:00 PM - JasonSolves:

Mar 28, 2016 2:07 PM - JasonSolves: from that video, it looks AMAZING
    Mar 28, 2016 2:07 PM - JasonSolves: not the r2
Mar 28, 2016 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: Using the money I got from selling my old r1 to buy it
    Mar 28, 2016 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: Lol tony that's great
Mar 28, 2016 2:10 PM - danzca6: this is the newest R2 rendering that I have seen. There is a mini as well. http://robo3d.com/?smd_process_download=1&download_id=629
Mar 28, 2016 2:10 PM - danzca6: just a rendering, but Harry said they had the real thing printing at CES this year
Mar 28, 2016 2:11 PM - TstarkEngineering: i believe that, its a nicer looking machine than the original picture in my opinion
Mar 28, 2016 2:11 PM - TstarkEngineering: there is a video i thought somewhere on youtube of the r2 actually printing at ces
Mar 28, 2016 2:13 PM - danzca6: Just remember to register your drone Mike and watch out for those no fly zones in Boston
Mar 28, 2016 2:16 PM - TstarkEngineering: you guys want to see my drone, back in the early stages of drones...the controlls on this was a nightmare
    Mar 28, 2016 2:17 PM - TstarkEngineering: [IMG]
    Mar 28, 2016 2:17 PM - danzca6:
    Mar 28, 2016 2:17 PM - danzca6: there's the R2 in action at CES
    Mar 28, 2016 2:17 PM - danzca6: 2016
    Mar 28, 2016 2:18 PM - danzca6: that's pretty slick T
    Mar 28, 2016 2:18 PM - TstarkEngineering: vtol
    Mar 28, 2016 2:18 PM - TstarkEngineering: about 60lbs of thrust
    Mar 28, 2016 2:19 PM - TstarkEngineering: something like 14kW of power
Mar 28, 2016 3:16 PM - danzca6: here is the R2 mini video... Brandon says April/May of this year and says "Not a closed source system"
Mar 28, 2016 3:20 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
    Mar 28, 2016 3:20 PM - danzca6: good afternoon Bill
    Mar 28, 2016 3:21 PM - danzca6: see MK bought a drone...now I am tempted
    Mar 28, 2016 3:22 PM - danzca6: $480 for the phantom 3 http://amzn.com/B013U0F6EQ
Mar 28, 2016 3:45 PM - Bill Monroe: waste of money
Mar 28, 2016 3:48 PM - Bill Monroe: btw.. you dont register the drone, you register yourself.. one number good for all things you fly
Mar 28, 2016 5:22 PM - NFOsec: I'm going to register myself as Bill Monroe Pilot Extraordinaire.
    Mar 28, 2016 5:46 PM - tesseract: hello People
Mar 28, 2016 5:54 PM - daniel871: Neither of those two videos actually show either printer doing anything.
Mar 28, 2016 6:07 PM - Mike Kelly: toys are a great use of money
    Mar 28, 2016 6:07 PM - tesseract: Hey Mike
Mar 28, 2016 6:08 PM - tesseract: how are you
Mar 28, 2016 6:08 PM - tesseract: aew you the MK that got the drone
Mar 28, 2016 6:08 PM - Mike Kelly: hey jeff, how's life treatin ya
    Mar 28, 2016 6:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Mar 28, 2016 6:09 PM - Mike Kelly: always wanted one but didn't have the money really, just sold my spare robo so I've got cash burning a hole in my pocket
Mar 28, 2016 6:09 PM - tesseract: what kind is it a DJI"
    Mar 28, 2016 6:09 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah Phantom 3
Mar 28, 2016 6:10 PM - tesseract: standard or Pro
Mar 28, 2016 6:10 PM - hphaseAZ: how do I get Cura to Home to the front left corner?
Mar 28, 2016 6:11 PM - tesseract: my brother has the Pro and I have flown it a bunch
Mar 28, 2016 6:11 PM - hphaseAZ: when i print it wants to smash the center... lol
Mar 28, 2016 6:11 PM - tesseract: it is pretty cool
    Mar 28, 2016 6:11 PM - tesseract: but I have a 3d question believe it or not
Mar 28, 2016 6:12 PM - Mike Kelly: standard, whats different about the pro?
Mar 28, 2016 6:12 PM - Mike Kelly: whats your question test
    Mar 28, 2016 6:12 PM - Mike Kelly: phase, G28 X0 Y0 Z0
Mar 28, 2016 6:13 PM - tesseract: I have been "on vacation" as of late with regard to printing but am back and was wondering if the process for creating and slicing parts for two extruders is any easier than when I first did it
Mar 28, 2016 6:13 PM - tesseract: the main difference is the radio and the camera
Mar 28, 2016 6:13 PM - Mike Kelly: Cura makes it pretty easy
Mar 28, 2016 6:14 PM - tesseract: the pro uses a different type of radio to talk to the drone and it has a much greater range
Mar 28, 2016 6:15 PM - Mike Kelly: for creating the parts I just mate them in solidworks then export the assembly saving both as individual files
Mar 28, 2016 6:15 PM - tesseract: and the camera is higher quality
Mar 28, 2016 6:16 PM - Mike Kelly: right, i figure for a first drone this is pretty good
Mar 28, 2016 6:17 PM - Mike Kelly: pro is almost twice as much
Mar 28, 2016 6:17 PM - hphaseAZ: thanks Mike. Do i put that in the end script?
Mar 28, 2016 6:17 PM - tesseract: it alsouses I think 18 to 20 satellite US and Russian I believe
Mar 28, 2016 6:18 PM - tesseract: so it is very rock solid
Mar 28, 2016 6:18 PM - tesseract: yeah my brother paid 900 for his
Mar 28, 2016 6:18 PM - tesseract: but man it is cool
Mar 28, 2016 6:18 PM - tesseract: so is the process the same then in CURA
Mar 28, 2016 6:19 PM - tesseract: you load each part of the model and save it as another file type and then load both of the new files into CURA and then slice it????
Mar 28, 2016 6:21 PM - tesseract: one of the cool things is to lift it off and get it about 7 feet up and then walk under it and reavh up and try to move it while it is hovering it resists moving with equal force which can be considerable
Mar 28, 2016 6:22 PM - tesseract: well I have to go again
Mar 28, 2016 6:22 PM - tesseract: talk to you soon
    Mar 28, 2016 6:25 PM - Mike Kelly: night
Mar 28, 2016 6:25 PM - Mike Kelly: sorry i missed your questions
Mar 28, 2016 6:25 PM - Mike Kelly: phase, in the starting gcode
Mar 28, 2016 6:30 PM - hphaseAZ: Thanks Mike. In Cura it has start.gcode and end.gcode. what should i have in end.gcode? can i leave it blank?
    Mar 28, 2016 6:33 PM - Mike Kelly: it's blank for you?
    Mar 28, 2016 6:34 PM - Mike Kelly: ending shouldn't be blank
Mar 28, 2016 6:34 PM - hphaseAZ: no it has a bunch of stuff
Mar 28, 2016 6:35 PM - Mike Kelly: probably fine then
Mar 28, 2016 6:35 PM - Captain McGillacutty: just got the cano, anyone have luck with the 1.2 nozzle?
    Mar 28, 2016 6:35 PM - hphaseAZ: ok
    Mar 28, 2016 6:37 PM - Mike Kelly: haven't used one
Mar 28, 2016 6:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i was just reading about someone using one on the e3d forum
Mar 28, 2016 6:37 PM - Captain McGillacutty: seems the hobbed bolt cant keep up
Mar 28, 2016 6:37 PM - Mike Kelly: seems to have issues with solid infill layers
Mar 28, 2016 6:37 PM - Mike Kelly: you gotta print slower with it
Mar 28, 2016 6:38 PM - Captain McGillacutty: the infill in different
    Mar 28, 2016 6:38 PM - Captain McGillacutty: 85% is nice
Mar 28, 2016 6:38 PM - Captain McGillacutty: i may have to go direct drive
    Mar 28, 2016 6:38 PM - Mike Kelly: top/bottom layer that is
Mar 28, 2016 6:39 PM - hphaseAZ: just curious. Is the start.gcode before the print and end.gcode after the print?
    Mar 28, 2016 6:39 PM - jbigler1986: Cano?
    Mar 28, 2016 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: Yes
    Mar 28, 2016 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: vol
Mar 28, 2016 6:41 PM - Mike Kelly: correct phase
Mar 28, 2016 6:41 PM - Mike Kelly: as the name infers, start is the start and end is the end
Mar 28, 2016 6:41 PM - Captain McGillacutty: yes on the cano
    Mar 28, 2016 6:41 PM - jbigler1986: Damn iracing is addicting
Mar 28, 2016 6:42 PM - jbigler1986: Sad to say it but so us American Truck Simulator
    Mar 28, 2016 6:42 PM - jbigler1986: MK how much is the mark1
    Mar 28, 2016 6:43 PM - Mike Kelly: uhh
    Mar 28, 2016 6:43 PM - Mike Kelly: 5k?
Mar 28, 2016 6:44 PM - Mike Kelly: i have a friend that makes money playing those truck simulator games
    Mar 28, 2016 6:44 PM - jbigler1986: Have you tried Kevlar yet
    Mar 28, 2016 6:44 PM - jbigler1986: YouTube videos?
Mar 28, 2016 6:44 PM - Mike Kelly: nope just CF

Mar 28, 2016 6:52 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah rained all day here
Mar 28, 2016 7:19 PM - daniel871: Stupid pollen is wrecking my otherwise good days.
Mar 28, 2016 7:30 PM - daniel871: Also, LOL at someone on the Facebook Robo group asking if switching the power switch on the back from 110 to 220 would make the printer run better.
Mar 28, 2016 7:30 PM - daniel871: I almost want to post "Set up a camera, try it and post the results" but I'm not *quite* that mean.
    Mar 28, 2016 8:04 PM - JasonSolves: bloody hell
Mar 28, 2016 8:04 PM - JasonSolves: MK, Dan and JB... I gave up on the M301 and the M500 and what not
Mar 28, 2016 8:05 PM - JasonSolves: I was already into the firmware, so I just put my values in the config.h and wow! the temp plot is almost flat!
    Mar 28, 2016 8:06 PM - JasonSolves: [IMG]
Mar 28, 2016 8:06 PM - daniel871: Man, the stock LEDs need to be a little bit brighter.
    Mar 28, 2016 8:06 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
Mar 28, 2016 8:07 PM - JasonSolves: what is that Daniel, it kinda looks like a robo
Mar 28, 2016 8:07 PM - JasonSolves: but the huge fan grill on the side is not stock
Mar 28, 2016 8:08 PM - daniel871: Yeah, that's the hole I burned in the side before mounting up a 200W heater to keep the chamber warm.
Mar 28, 2016 8:08 PM - JasonSolves: I wish my LEDs were on top, so I can see the print
Mar 28, 2016 8:08 PM - JasonSolves: wow, where do you live alaska, and you print outside?
Mar 28, 2016 8:08 PM - JasonSolves: I sometimes forget people print things other than PLA
Mar 28, 2016 8:09 PM - daniel871: Northwest Georgia, but ambient temps have been between 10-20 degrees in the shop.
Mar 28, 2016 8:09 PM - daniel871: Here is the temp chart just now:
    Mar 28, 2016 8:09 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
Mar 28, 2016 8:10 PM - JasonSolves: question, what do you slice with?
Mar 28, 2016 8:10 PM - daniel871: That heater tops out at keeping the build chamber at around 40C before heating up the bed/hotend, so I'm going to be looking at more thorough insulation methods at some point.
Mar 28, 2016 8:10 PM - JasonSolves: I see you use Octoprint to print
Mar 28, 2016 8:11 PM - daniel871: Simplify3D, but I'm still fine-tuning for the flaws in the stock Robo configuration.
Mar 28, 2016 8:11 PM - daniel871: Like how the stock bolt likes to shred filament if any kind of retraction is enabled.
Mar 28, 2016 8:12 PM - JasonSolves: oh, yeah, I only have one light bolt holding the filement
Mar 28, 2016 8:12 PM - JasonSolves: I really Like S3d, but the USB is my fall back as the SD card is a PITA location on the robo
Mar 28, 2016 8:13 PM - daniel871: I've got a short bit of PTFE between the Hexagon and the bolt, but getting the right length has been tricky because if it's too close it tries to pull the PTFE thru the gear on a retraction, too far and it does no good.
Mar 28, 2016 8:13 PM - daniel871: Octoprint really solves all of those problems.
    Mar 28, 2016 8:14 PM - daniel871: Regarding USB vs. SD card/etc. timeouts.
Mar 28, 2016 8:14 PM - JasonSolves: yeah, every time I change filiment I wish it was a bowden
Mar 28, 2016 8:14 PM - daniel871: I actually had bad luck with Bowden because if the Bowden tube isn't the correct length, you still get binding issues with flexible filaments.
Mar 28, 2016 8:15 PM - JasonSolves: I just want to monitor my print from my phone, and maybe even watch it
Mar 28, 2016 8:15 PM - daniel871: Tube is too short = kinks, tube is too long = too much resistance for reliable extrusion results.
Mar 28, 2016 8:15 PM - JasonSolves: yeah, no solution is perfect. just which one keeps you printing and not fixing
Mar 28, 2016 8:15 PM - JasonSolves: I like the way the "big box" is setup
Mar 28, 2016 8:16 PM - JasonSolves: thinking about the dual one. But really I have no need for a second printer
Mar 28, 2016 8:16 PM - daniel871: The Big Box is pretty much the solution to everything wrong with a design like the current Robo, yeah.
Mar 28, 2016 8:17 PM - daniel871: If you want to get a cheap printer that will just make you mad at how the Robo works get the Monoprice Maker Select (Prusa i3 clone). Mine is awesome and works literally every time I throw something at it while the Robo is my project machine (as in, getting it to work is a project).
    Mar 28, 2016 8:31 PM - JasonSolves: wow
    Mar 28, 2016 8:31 PM - JasonSolves: This one http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-11614-Housing-Extrusion-Printer/dp/B00KFSQ8M6
Mar 28, 2016 8:32 PM - JasonSolves: there are good things about that @ $690
    Mar 28, 2016 8:34 PM - danzca6: He has this one...only $350...https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=107&cp_id=10724&cs_id=1072403&p_id=13860&seq=1&format=2
Mar 28, 2016 8:34 PM - danzca6: glad to hear your heat issues are solved
    Mar 28, 2016 8:34 PM - JasonSolves: Me too!
Mar 28, 2016 8:35 PM - danzca6: so just adding it to the firmware worked... did you try to do a M502 followed by M500 to make sure the EEPROM gets refreshed
Mar 28, 2016 8:36 PM - JasonSolves: nope, but I did notice that they suggest just commenting all of them out, then setting via eeprom
Mar 28, 2016 8:36 PM - JasonSolves: but the default was ultimaker
    Mar 28, 2016 8:37 PM - JasonSolves: I will check in 11 minutes
Mar 28, 2016 8:38 PM - JasonSolves: amazing how much smoother the print is, when the temp is +/-4 rather than 15
Mar 28, 2016 8:38 PM - danzca6: yeah, that is odd that it all of a sudden started that...or was it something that happened over time
    Mar 28, 2016 8:39 PM - JasonSolves: oh...
Mar 28, 2016 8:40 PM - JasonSolves: so I was having 1 issue and someone told me to update the firmware
Mar 28, 2016 8:40 PM - JasonSolves: and I have only printed PLA before so 200 MAX
Mar 28, 2016 8:40 PM - JasonSolves: I am sure it is easier to stay closer to 190

Mar 29, 2016 4:07 AM - rn_1604: Hi, I would like to check with you guys on how to reset the Y axis home... My items are not printing correct in the Y axis... the objects always appear further up on the square heated bed as compared to the screenshot...
Mar 29, 2016 4:16 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Mar 29, 2016 4:16 AM - daniel871: Well, the ABS print for the Bondtech mounting plate actually finished without fucking up.
    Mar 29, 2016 4:16 AM - daniel871:
Mar 29, 2016 4:17 AM - daniel871: Need a better camera and independent lights or something though.
Mar 29, 2016 4:43 AM - jbigler1986: Ignore the square on the bed. It's not right
Mar 29, 2016 4:45 AM - daniel871: Yeah, there needs to be a big red announcement at the top of the forums that says "Ignore the markings on the glass bed indicating print area; they're never in the right place."
    Mar 29, 2016 4:53 AM - rn_1604: oic... ok
Mar 29, 2016 4:54 AM - rn_1604: during the 1st layer, my nozzle seems to be pushing the material beside (a row before) up. too close? Is this normal?
Mar 29, 2016 4:54 AM - rn_1604: especially on long straight lines, the situation doesnt seem ideal
Mar 29, 2016 5:24 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Mar 29, 2016 6:04 AM - danzca6: rn_1604, try adjusting your z offset back by .1 mm and see if that improves it. You might be a tad too close and getting a bit too much squish.
Mar 29, 2016 6:20 AM - danzca6: why don't we have a faq for the forum? That build plate marking issue is getting to be a pretty common question lately
Mar 29, 2016 6:27 AM - daniel871: I think there used to be one a couple forum revisions ago.
    Mar 29, 2016 6:33 AM - rn_1604: alright will test it out
Mar 29, 2016 6:33 AM - danzca6: with the search still wonky, it would be nice to have again
    Mar 29, 2016 6:33 AM - rn_1604: the default offset is 0.9 correct
    Mar 29, 2016 6:33 AM - rn_1604: so i should change it to 1.0?
    Mar 29, 2016 6:34 AM - danzca6: actually I think it is reverse
    Mar 29, 2016 6:34 AM - danzca6: let me double check
Mar 29, 2016 6:35 AM - rn_1604: i printed the whistle... and during the last part... the nozzle moved the whole whistle!
Mar 29, 2016 6:35 AM - TstarkEngineering: any suggestions for what looks to be zbanding but more prominent in the corners?
Mar 29, 2016 6:36 AM - rn_1604: should i lower my bed temperature to get better adhesion
    Mar 29, 2016 6:37 AM - TstarkEngineering: [IMG]
Mar 29, 2016 6:39 AM - danzca6: rn, what are you printing with? PLA?
Mar 29, 2016 6:39 AM - rn_1604: yes with the default robo3d blue pla (given)
Mar 29, 2016 6:40 AM - rn_1604: i set my bed temp to 70 degrees as i tot it would get better adhesion
Mar 29, 2016 6:41 AM - danzca6: the robo sample blue...isn't the best pla, but I print PLA at 50C for bed and 200 for extruder
Mar 29, 2016 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: use 50C, hairspray or gluestick on cleaned glass
Mar 29, 2016 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: if your intial height isnt too high, it'll stick fine
Mar 29, 2016 6:43 AM - Geoff Herguth: Is there a media with a softer durometer than PLA or ABS? I'd like to print some negative molds to apply a logo the casting patterns with a catalized putty. I need more flexibility and release properties.
Mar 29, 2016 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: start with ninjaflex... but the stock robo extruder doesnt handle it well
Mar 29, 2016 6:43 AM - rn_1604: first layer height of 0.3 is fine? will adhesion be better if i set it to 0.2
Mar 29, 2016 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: first height has a lot of variables.. you have to try it and adjust once you see what you first setting yields
Mar 29, 2016 6:47 AM - danzca6: .3 is fine for first layer height....try the new temp before you do any z offset changes
    Mar 29, 2016 6:48 AM - rn_1604: the default 50 degrees temp bed was the 1st setting i tried
Mar 29, 2016 6:48 AM - rn_1604: the 1st layer started peeling off (caused by the nozzle), so i changed the bed temp to 70
Mar 29, 2016 6:48 AM - rn_1604: i think i will try to do the z offset and see how it goes
    Mar 29, 2016 6:49 AM - danzca6: ok...for the M565 code more negative -> further from bed
    Mar 29, 2016 6:49 AM - rn_1604: so i should select offset 0.8
    Mar 29, 2016 6:50 AM - danzca6: so if you are at M565 Z-0.9, then try M565 Z-1.0
    Mar 29, 2016 6:50 AM - danzca6: oh, that's right...you are using Matter Control
Mar 29, 2016 6:51 AM - danzca6: I think I remember them doing the negative for you. So try 1.0 and save the gcode to a file. You should see the M565 command in that file when viewed with notepad
    Mar 29, 2016 6:51 AM - rn_1604: oh ok
    Mar 29, 2016 6:51 AM - danzca6: just to double check
    Mar 29, 2016 6:51 AM - toymaker: yo, morning
    Mar 29, 2016 6:52 AM - danzca6: morning toy
    Mar 29, 2016 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: toy
Mar 29, 2016 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: did ya hit indio?
    Mar 29, 2016 6:52 AM - rn_1604: yes according to the manual: higher z offsets are 1, 1.1 and 1.2
    Mar 29, 2016 6:54 AM - rn_1604: but when i home, now my z coordinate shows -1
    Mar 29, 2016 6:54 AM - toymaker: yes
    Mar 29, 2016 6:54 AM - toymaker: just for 1 nite
    Mar 29, 2016 6:54 AM - rn_1604: so i guess i should select 0.8
Mar 29, 2016 6:54 AM - daniel871: Did you just Home, or did you Home and send the Offset?
    Mar 29, 2016 6:54 AM - rn_1604: i think i offset then home
Mar 29, 2016 6:55 AM - rn_1604: or did i home then offset haha cant rem
Mar 29, 2016 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: One night in Indio makes the hard man humble...
Mar 29, 2016 6:55 AM - toymaker: i gotta put my suit on today and try to get some $$$
Mar 29, 2016 6:55 AM - daniel871: Homing by itself as a command will probably show -1 on the position because the offset wasn't sent to the printer.
Mar 29, 2016 6:55 AM - daniel871: Wait, hang on, still drinking morning coffee and that explanation isn't quite right.
Mar 29, 2016 6:55 AM - toymaker: i look like the hitman when i put my suit on lol
Mar 29, 2016 6:56 AM - daniel871: If you homed and the position shows -1 that's probably correct, because the Z will probably have to pick up 1mm from the endstop trigger to start lifting the nozzle off of the glass again.
    Mar 29, 2016 6:57 AM - rn_1604: i will try with the -0.8mm home
Mar 29, 2016 6:57 AM - rn_1604: is there any difference using mattercontrol software to print as compared to SD card?
Mar 29, 2016 6:57 AM - daniel871: If you home with that and it shows -0.8, then you should have confirmation that you're adjusting the offset as far as the printer is concerned.
Mar 29, 2016 6:58 AM - rn_1604: i prefer to use SD card as it eliminated the dependency on the software... sometimes the software crashes and i would have to restart
Mar 29, 2016 6:58 AM - daniel871: Using the software relies on your PC never putting the USB hub into power saving/sleep mode.
Mar 29, 2016 6:59 AM - daniel871: I've got an Octopi set up to drive my Robo so that any print issues fall back to slicer settings and Robo setup and eliminate PC issues.
Mar 29, 2016 7:09 AM - rn_1604: the nozzle is still pushing some of the 1st layer strands
Mar 29, 2016 7:09 AM - rn_1604: the 1st layer apparently doesnt stick very well
Mar 29, 2016 7:09 AM - rn_1604: as long as there is a piece sticking out, the nozzle will push against it and the whole strand lifts
Mar 29, 2016 7:10 AM - rn_1604: can i increase the layer width so that there's more surface area to the strand
    Mar 29, 2016 7:10 AM - rn_1604: but it's already at 100%
Mar 29, 2016 7:22 AM - rn_1604: will try glue stick on heated bed.... hope it works!
Mar 29, 2016 7:25 AM - danzca6: have you been using anything on the bed like hairspray or glue?
Mar 29, 2016 7:28 AM - danzca6: If you have a pic of what is happening that might help as well.
Mar 29, 2016 7:30 AM - danzca6: Tstark, do all 4 corners look like that? What filament are you using, temps, speed?
Mar 29, 2016 7:33 AM - rn_1604: initially i did not use any, now i am trying with glue
Mar 29, 2016 7:35 AM - danzca6: I've done a couple with a clean bed, but now always use hairspray. Seems to work a lot better for me to have something on the bed
    Mar 29, 2016 7:36 AM - rn_1604: this was previous failure https://www.dropbox.com/s/ksokoor3kgfla37/IMG_6680.JPG?dl=0
Mar 29, 2016 7:36 AM - rn_1604: now with glue (seems like its not sticking well too) https://www.dropbox.com/s/ww7lc4rcszn4ih7/IMG_6685.JPG?dl=0
Mar 29, 2016 7:39 AM - daniel871: If anybody has an abundance of money to blow, this might be worth a try. http://www.unique-3d.com/#!product/prd13/4470713341/sitall-glass-u3d-257x257mm
Mar 29, 2016 7:46 AM - danzca6: rn, do you get that same result on a test cal cube or just large prints? Just thinking we could save some filament and work with getting a cal cube to work prior to printing the filament holder
    Mar 29, 2016 7:46 AM - rn_1604: looks bad https://www.dropbox.com/s/02vn4gi3u1aw86e/IMG_6687.JPG?dl=0
Mar 29, 2016 7:47 AM - rn_1604: for the calibration circle i did, it wasnt that bad
Mar 29, 2016 7:47 AM - rn_1604: the whistle i printed was good initially too
Mar 29, 2016 7:48 AM - rn_1604: for this spool holder, i will try to let it print over those bumps and see how is it
Mar 29, 2016 7:48 AM - danzca6: did you lower your temps as well
Mar 29, 2016 7:48 AM - rn_1604: at least i think it won't dislodge the whole thing as compared to the whistle
    Mar 29, 2016 7:49 AM - rn_1604: everything is at default, extruder 210 and bed temp 50
    Mar 29, 2016 7:49 AM - rn_1604: z offset 0.8
Mar 29, 2016 7:50 AM - danzca6: did you check the gcode file to see what it had for the M565 just to make sure?
    Mar 29, 2016 7:50 AM - rn_1604: no...
    Mar 29, 2016 7:52 AM - danzca6: that's ok...maybe for the next side
    Mar 29, 2016 7:52 AM - danzca6: how's the second layer doing
    Mar 29, 2016 7:53 AM - rn_1604: 2nd layer seems fine
    Mar 29, 2016 7:53 AM - rn_1604: it's only the first layer that i have problems with
Mar 29, 2016 7:53 AM - danzca6: that is the most important layer
    Mar 29, 2016 7:53 AM - rn_1604: yea true..

Mar 29, 2016 7:53 AM - danzca6: so this might not look pretty on that side, but may still be functional for you
    Mar 29, 2016 7:54 AM - rn_1604: this was my first print after i got the robo3d R1 plus https://www.dropbox.com/s/7gova526rz5rh9u/IMG_6689.JPG?dl=0
Mar 29, 2016 7:54 AM - rn_1604: some slight defects on the 1st layer too, but overall was fine until mattercontrol crashed
Mar 29, 2016 7:55 AM - danzca6: getting z offset set correctly takes some fiddling with
Mar 29, 2016 7:56 AM - danzca6: when it does the auto level, it touches each of the 9 points ok
Mar 29, 2016 7:56 AM - rn_1604: yes mine seems to touch each of the 9 points...
Mar 29, 2016 7:56 AM - danzca6: also, what is your first layer speed
Mar 29, 2016 7:57 AM - rn_1604: think i will probably get some kapton paper next time
Mar 29, 2016 7:58 AM - rn_1604: does defects (liftings), do you think they are caused by uneven bed?
Mar 29, 2016 8:03 AM - donhuevo: what infill pattern is that?
Mar 29, 2016 8:03 AM - danzca6: not necessarily. I was just making sure ABL was working right. Looks like just in the middle of that large print is an issue. The edges look ok.
    Mar 29, 2016 8:05 AM - rn_1604: yeah
Mar 29, 2016 8:06 AM - rn_1604: it's covering well now, but one of the ends is lifted, hope it doesnt create too much trouble
Mar 29, 2016 8:07 AM - donhuevo: and I haven't found anything better than the hairspray on the glass for PLA
Mar 29, 2016 8:12 AM - rn_1604: which hairspray do you guys recommend?
Mar 29, 2016 8:13 AM - donhuevo: I use Suave Extreme Hold because the Dollar Stores carry it. I think Aquanet has the right chemistry too
Mar 29, 2016 8:13 AM - donhuevo: two chemicals in particular should be in the ingredient list
Mar 29, 2016 8:17 AM - donhuevo: I can't find the forum post that mentions them. dangit
    Mar 29, 2016 8:18 AM - danzca6: I use the aquanet extra hold...pure 80's rock hair formula
Mar 29, 2016 8:20 AM - rn_1604: hmm alright shall go shopping for either the hairspray or kapton tape... glue stick seems a little too messy :D
Mar 29, 2016 8:20 AM - rn_1604: has anyone tried using this wood filament before? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B018MG4SK6/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_rYP-wb1VRM51J
Mar 29, 2016 8:21 AM - danzca6: spray is nice...just make sure you protect the printer so you don't get it on anything but the bed. I just use a sheet of paper
Mar 29, 2016 8:24 AM - donhuevo: I spray a puddle in a paper towel then apply it to the bed
Mar 29, 2016 8:24 AM - donhuevo: also, what infill pattern is this? [IMG]
Mar 29, 2016 8:26 AM - daniel871: Aquanet Unscented Extra Hold + Paper towel spray and smear is basically the go-to for everything.
Mar 29, 2016 8:28 AM - daniel871: Also, that looks like the "Wiggle" infill pattern from Simplify3D, but it's odd to see it on what would be the external surface of the finished print.
    Mar 29, 2016 8:29 AM - donhuevo: I'm thinking that's why it's misbehaving
Mar 29, 2016 8:29 AM - danzca6: is there such a thing as infill on first layers?
Mar 29, 2016 8:30 AM - donhuevo: I'd have to say yes. I've done rectilinear and concentric on first layers
    Mar 29, 2016 8:31 AM - danzca6: interesting...is that an S3D thing?
    Mar 29, 2016 8:31 AM - danzca6: I haven't seen that with Cura
Mar 29, 2016 8:31 AM - donhuevo: this is one of rn's pics
    Mar 29, 2016 8:32 AM - danzca6: oh...ok
    Mar 29, 2016 8:32 AM - rn_1604: it's the default settings, i did not change any
    Mar 29, 2016 8:32 AM - donhuevo: Simplify3D?
    Mar 29, 2016 8:32 AM - rn_1604: appears to be peeling
    Mar 29, 2016 8:32 AM - danzca6: MC
    Mar 29, 2016 8:33 AM - donhuevo: ewwwww
    Mar 29, 2016 8:33 AM - donhuevo: ok
    Mar 29, 2016 8:33 AM - rn_1604: omg my print just stopped...
Mar 29, 2016 8:33 AM - donhuevo: look for an infill pattern setting and if it isn't rectilinear, make it that
    Mar 29, 2016 8:33 AM - rn_1604: i just launched mattercontrol
    Mar 29, 2016 8:33 AM - rn_1604: anyway to resume :O
    Mar 29, 2016 8:34 AM - danzca6: fudge
    Mar 29, 2016 8:34 AM - rn_1604: it was printing via SD
Mar 29, 2016 8:34 AM - danzca6: did you still have the usb connected
    Mar 29, 2016 8:34 AM - rn_1604: yes...
    Mar 29, 2016 8:34 AM - danzca6: that would be why
    Mar 29, 2016 8:34 AM - danzca6: mc did a connect at startup
    Mar 29, 2016 8:34 AM - rn_1604: oh no...
Mar 29, 2016 8:34 AM - danzca6: I think you can remove the usb once the print starts with the sd
    Mar 29, 2016 8:35 AM - danzca6: using mc that is
    Mar 29, 2016 8:35 AM - donhuevo: MfnC
    Mar 29, 2016 8:35 AM - rn_1604: so now i have to restart :S
    Mar 29, 2016 8:35 AM - rn_1604: the infill type is GRID
Mar 29, 2016 8:35 AM - donhuevo: what are the other options?
Mar 29, 2016 8:36 AM - rn_1604: how do i set it to rectilinear as there is not option for that
    Mar 29, 2016 8:36 AM - rn_1604: triangles, hexagon, lines and concentric
Mar 29, 2016 8:36 AM - donhuevo: if GRID equates to other software's rectilinear, you have some weirdness going on
Mar 29, 2016 8:37 AM - danzca6: could the nozzle be too high and doing a bit of a swirl
Mar 29, 2016 8:37 AM - rn_1604: it just doesnt seem to be sticking well
    Mar 29, 2016 8:37 AM - danzca6: that's just odd behavior to see on a first layer
Mar 29, 2016 8:38 AM - donhuevo: I'm installing the latest MC version right now to have a look around
Mar 29, 2016 8:39 AM - rn_1604: my first print looks so much better (base) as compared to this one
Mar 29, 2016 8:39 AM - danzca6: yeah, you might have to go the other direction with your offset
    Mar 29, 2016 8:40 AM - rn_1604: hmm alright will try that
Mar 29, 2016 8:40 AM - donhuevo: MatterControl Settings... [IMG]
    Mar 29, 2016 8:41 AM - rn_1604: that's wierd, i don have those. Are you using matterslice?
Mar 29, 2016 8:41 AM - daniel871: S3D has different infill settings for "external" and "internal" infill. Basically anything within the Top/bottom will get the "external" infill while the "internal" infill is what we normally think of infill.
    Mar 29, 2016 8:41 AM - rn_1604: oh you are using slic3r
    Mar 29, 2016 8:41 AM - rn_1604: shall i try slic3r?
Mar 29, 2016 8:41 AM - daniel871: "External" is either rectilinear or concentric, "Internal" can be rectilinear, concentric, wiggle, triangular, grid, fast honeycomb and full honeycomb.
Mar 29, 2016 8:43 AM - daniel871: When the switch occurs can be defined by how many top/bottom layers you tell it to do before going to regular infill.
Mar 29, 2016 8:43 AM - donhuevo: wiggle isn't mentioned in the version of MatterControl I just downloaded
Mar 29, 2016 8:44 AM - daniel871: Wiggle also looks like 45 degree turns with the length determined by the percentage of infill.
Mar 29, 2016 8:44 AM - daniel871: Not that 90 degree turn series RN is getting.
Mar 29, 2016 8:45 AM - daniel871: Leave it to MatterControl to do some bizarre shit though.
Mar 29, 2016 8:45 AM - donhuevo: isn't MatterControl what robo is using?
Mar 29, 2016 8:46 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but keep NoviceExpert's tips video in mind with Tip #1 "Uninstall MatterControl"
Mar 29, 2016 8:47 AM - danzca6: to be fair, they have made a lot of improvements with MC...but I prefer Cura over it still and would do S3D if I could afford it
    Mar 29, 2016 8:47 AM - rn_1604: will try slic3r default settings with z offset 1
    Mar 29, 2016 8:48 AM - rn_1604: on the cube
Mar 29, 2016 8:48 AM - rn_1604: wow got a slic3r error. the application was unable to start correctly
    Mar 29, 2016 8:48 AM - daniel871:
    Mar 29, 2016 8:49 AM - rn_1604: yep cant use slic3r
    Mar 29, 2016 8:50 AM - rn_1604: shall try matterslicer and z offset 1 then
Mar 29, 2016 8:50 AM - donhuevo: whatever your offset was for the pic of yours I just posted, it was good
Mar 29, 2016 8:51 AM - donhuevo: that effed up infill was it's downfall
Mar 29, 2016 8:51 AM - donhuevo: so is there a robo version of MatterControl and a standard MatterControl? Is that the disconnect here?
Mar 29, 2016 8:53 AM - daniel871: I think the "robo" version is just an older one that's included with the printer SD card.
    Mar 29, 2016 8:53 AM - daniel871: Nothing special about it.
Mar 29, 2016 8:53 AM - donhuevo: it wiggles but the current version doesn't seem to
Mar 29, 2016 8:53 AM - rn_1604: my offset for the first pic is the default 0.9
Mar 29, 2016 8:53 AM - daniel871: When I see wiggles like that I associate it with a stepper driver that isn't able to keep up with the instructions.
Mar 29, 2016 8:54 AM - donhuevo: that could be too
Mar 29, 2016 8:54 AM - daniel871: Print some calibration circles and see if they are actually circles or a series of easily seen straight lines at odd/perpendicular angles to the path it should be doing.
Mar 29, 2016 8:54 AM - donhuevo: the perimeters on his prints are right
Mar 29, 2016 8:55 AM - rn_1604: offset 1 seems to be good on my small cube
Mar 29, 2016 8:55 AM - daniel871: Yeah, but perimeters don't run at the same speed as infills, either.
Mar 29, 2016 8:55 AM - daniel871: Well crap, there goes calibration circles as a check.
