Apr 4, 2016 9:49 PM - nonmindo: i know its kinda late, but anyone around?
    Apr 4, 2016 9:51 PM - LumpyDVC: i'm lurking
Apr 4, 2016 9:55 PM - nonmindo: Perhaps you could answer what I hope is a simple question.... I have a Robo 3D and I've only sliced and printed using USB through MC, Cura and Craftware......I just got a Fabrikator Mini and I'm wanting to use an android tablet to print with it... the android apps only accept GCODE files, not .stl's.... I've never printed pure GCODE......when you slice up a model do all of the parameters get put into the GCOD like the hot end temp, bed size, cali
    Apr 4, 2016 9:56 PM - nonmindo: calibration, etc*
Apr 4, 2016 9:58 PM - LumpyDVC: yes the gcode will contain all the info. temps ect. Cura or MC would have to be setup for that specific printers settings.
Apr 4, 2016 9:59 PM - nonmindo: ok cool, thanks!
Apr 4, 2016 9:59 PM - nonmindo: It's one thing i've always wondered, I have a smart lcd controller on my robo and never have used the print from sd method
Apr 4, 2016 10:01 PM - nonmindo: cant wait to see if i can get this little guy printing with android..... tiny tiny printer... 80x80x80 build volume.....the whole printer fits within the Robo 3D build volume lol
Apr 5, 2016 4:24 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Apr 5, 2016 5:09 AM - daniel871: Hm. This Pi3 kit popped up in my Amazon.com emails this morning. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00L87YMGM
Apr 5, 2016 5:09 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning robonauts....so a quick update I found that my temp ids for the bed and extruder were both set to T0 in s3d
    Apr 5, 2016 5:11 AM - daniel871: That's actually correct.
Apr 5, 2016 5:11 AM - daniel871: The Gcode section in S3D for Hotend and Bed issues a different GCode for each.
Apr 5, 2016 5:12 AM - JeffTheMess: damn it...I thought I was on to something there
    Apr 5, 2016 5:12 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Apr 5, 2016 5:13 AM - daniel871: Notice how the firmware definitions there don't call out the tool number for the bed.
    Apr 5, 2016 5:13 AM - daniel871: (Because M140 & M190 are specifically for the bed).
Apr 5, 2016 5:15 AM - JeffTheMess: well I'm out of ideas for now then
    Apr 5, 2016 5:15 AM - daniel871: What's going on with your Robo, anyway?
Apr 5, 2016 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: when I preheat the robo its fine...I can leave it there for more than a half hour the temp stay solid....but when I start printing after 5-10 minutes it cuts off just stops printing
Apr 5, 2016 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: when I try to look at the errors its already gone so far that I can't scroll high enough to see it
Apr 5, 2016 5:18 AM - daniel871: Do you have Octopi set up?
Apr 5, 2016 5:18 AM - daniel871: I ask because it has an option to suppress M105/M27 requests and store the entire session log so you can always scroll up as far as you want.
Apr 5, 2016 5:19 AM - daniel871: (doesn't work if you close the browser window and come back later though).
    Apr 5, 2016 5:19 AM - JeffTheMess: no Octopi
Apr 5, 2016 5:19 AM - JeffTheMess: I might try and reflash the firmware again
Apr 5, 2016 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: reflashing wont help.. your firmware is fine
Apr 5, 2016 5:21 AM - JeffTheMess: my therm reads fine at both end too ~110k
Apr 5, 2016 5:24 AM - Bill Monroe: here's a thought... take the filament out.. set the temps for ambient, and print air.. see if it still stops
Apr 5, 2016 5:25 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, I will try that instead of wasting filament I will have to glue my eye to the screen at all times
Apr 5, 2016 5:26 AM - Bill Monroe: youve got an LCD, yes?
    Apr 5, 2016 5:26 AM - JeffTheMess: no :(
Apr 5, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: crap Jeffie...
Apr 5, 2016 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: you're printing using the USB?
Apr 5, 2016 5:27 AM - JeffTheMess: i've tried both usb and the internal sd card
Apr 5, 2016 5:28 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, dont trust that port Robo provided, you still have to use the USB to start it..
Apr 5, 2016 5:29 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, I know it's what im stuck with for now
Apr 5, 2016 5:29 AM - Bill Monroe: ok well, it's well known that is a major source of problems.. you want to remove all the known problems
Apr 5, 2016 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: So just take off the sd card, and run it?
Apr 5, 2016 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: no. get a decent card port (which comes with a decent LCD panel)
Apr 5, 2016 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: ya know, even when I was talking to Pilkington december 2014 about buying one.. the two he had on display BOTH had panels connected
Apr 5, 2016 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: why Robo didnt include that is beyond me
Apr 5, 2016 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: in any case, IMHO, it's the first thing one should add, even before trying the first print.
    Apr 5, 2016 5:34 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.amazon.com/FORWORD-Displ...1459859436&sr=8-2&keywords=lcd+for+3d+printer
    Apr 5, 2016 5:34 AM - JeffTheMess: seems fine?^
Apr 5, 2016 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: that's it.. I dont know about that one in particular quality-wise but that's the ticket
Apr 5, 2016 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: I got the XXL cuz the display is huge and it's known quality, but it costs more
Apr 5, 2016 5:37 AM - JeffTheMess: Yeah, I saw that one bit high
Apr 5, 2016 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, but I thiought it was worth every penny, it's never let me down
    Apr 5, 2016 5:38 AM - bamhm182: Morning, Bill & Jeff
Apr 5, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: bam.. how ya been?
    Apr 5, 2016 5:39 AM - bamhm182: How've you guys been?
Apr 5, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: same same
Apr 5, 2016 5:39 AM - JeffTheMess: Bam, whats going on
Apr 5, 2016 5:39 AM - bamhm182: Not too bad. Got a girlfriend and haven't been around the house a whole lot
Apr 5, 2016 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: oh no
Apr 5, 2016 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: wimmen are evil
Apr 5, 2016 5:40 AM - bamhm182: Got all the parts together for the MPCNC though and started working on dual extrusion for the +plus
    Apr 5, 2016 5:40 AM - bamhm182: Haha
Apr 5, 2016 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: one pair of tiny yoga shorts cost more than an XXL panel!
Apr 5, 2016 5:41 AM - bamhm182: I was using the hercustruder with no problem on the hex, but it wasn't powerful enough to work with they Cyclops, so I picked up a could bondtechs
Apr 5, 2016 5:41 AM - JeffTheMess: bam will be "busy" for awhile now
Apr 5, 2016 5:41 AM - bamhm182: Very very true, and the XXL will last longer
Apr 5, 2016 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, and it wont try to change you
    Apr 5, 2016 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
    Apr 5, 2016 5:42 AM - bamhm182: True, haha
Apr 5, 2016 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: of course, the XXL isnt much fun when it's lying on the floor
Apr 5, 2016 5:42 AM - bamhm182: Doesn't ask me to take it places or get mad if I don't pay it attention for a few days
Apr 5, 2016 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: ah me..
Apr 5, 2016 5:44 AM - bamhm182: Also, true. The girl is much more fun in that case.
    Apr 5, 2016 5:46 AM - JeffTheMess: (sometimes) :)
Apr 5, 2016 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: cracks me up.. right now 2.0 is in the shower "getting ready" for yoga
Apr 5, 2016 5:52 AM - bamhm182: Shower before working out? What's the point? Haha
    Apr 5, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: exactly :)
Apr 5, 2016 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: on the other hand.. watching her is sure something
    Apr 5, 2016 6:01 AM - bamhm182: Fair enough
    Apr 5, 2016 6:01 AM - JeffTheMess: I will choose http://www.amazon.com/OSOYOO-Graphi...r&refinements=p_72:2661618011,p_85:2470955011 orhttp://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-controller-Version-control-Printer/dp/B00EYS5ELE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1459859748&sr=8-2&keywords=lcd+for+3d+printer&refinements=p_72%3A2661618011
Apr 5, 2016 6:07 AM - WheresWaldo: JTM, honestly buy the cheapest one you can find since they all use pretty much the same board and components. The best $10.00 I spent on the Robo was my cheap Full Graphics LCD. All of them are from China, so why make Mr Bezos more money by purchasing the more expensive one.
    Apr 5, 2016 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: nice....thanks Waldo
Apr 5, 2016 6:11 AM - WheresWaldo: The first one you linked appears to be the cheapest with Amazon PRIME. If you can wait 2-3 weeks you could save a few bucks ordering from someone like Banggood or even eBay.
Apr 5, 2016 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: many have suffered from buying cheap quality LCD panels.
Apr 5, 2016 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: i Myself have one $11 unit that failed out of the box
Apr 5, 2016 6:12 AM - WheresWaldo: True, but many have suffered by paying more for cheap quality LCD panels
Apr 5, 2016 6:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Just because you pay more or buy from Amazon does not gaurantee quality
    Apr 5, 2016 6:12 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
    Apr 5, 2016 6:14 AM - bamhm182: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IVY7MO4/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_3J7axbBE5BXF6
Apr 5, 2016 6:14 AM - bamhm182: I own two of those and have had no problems
Apr 5, 2016 6:14 AM - bamhm182: They're more expensive than your cheapest one though
    Apr 5, 2016 6:15 AM - JeffTheMess: a few more bucks more wouldn't hurt
Apr 5, 2016 6:15 AM - WheresWaldo: They did add a time out circuit or so they say. So not exactly the same.
Apr 5, 2016 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: it takes nads of steel to work with wood...
Apr 5, 2016 6:16 AM - WheresWaldo: Mine is the cheap one with the red circuit board. It is on 100% of the time while the USB is plugged in, so a Timeout might be of value to some.
Apr 5, 2016 6:19 AM - WheresWaldo: So Bill, you only have one more year to wait on furniture made from that tree.
Apr 5, 2016 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: bah.. elm makes horrible furniture
Apr 5, 2016 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: sure was a beautiful tree
Apr 5, 2016 7:10 AM - bamhm182: So apparently the smoothieboard v2 is going for 1/256 microstepping. I wonder if that will actually help much. Didn't notice much from 1/16 to 1/32, but that is a huge leap.
    Apr 5, 2016 7:11 AM - JeffTheMess: seems leigt
Apr 5, 2016 7:39 AM - TstarkEngineering: anyone know in s3d if you can set one half of the part with a differnt infill over another?
    Apr 5, 2016 7:42 AM - daniel871: Yep.
    Apr 5, 2016 7:42 AM - daniel871: Hang on, there's a guide.

    Apr 5, 2016 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: back
    Apr 5, 2016 8:19 AM - TstarkEngineering: thank you
Apr 5, 2016 8:46 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: I just installed my Full Graphics LCD and the beep is insanely annoying! :) is there a way to decrease the volume or eliminate it completely
    Apr 5, 2016 8:47 AM - JeffTheMess: desolder it :)
Apr 5, 2016 8:47 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: well i suppose that is an option
Apr 5, 2016 8:48 AM - TstarkEngineering: there is a cover you can print somewhere to reduce the noise level
    Apr 5, 2016 8:48 AM - JeffTheMess: cotton ball
Apr 5, 2016 8:48 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: true i suppose when I build my cover i could reduce the noise
Apr 5, 2016 8:49 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: I was not sure if there was a setting in the firmware to adjust volume
Apr 5, 2016 8:49 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: I would think I could just make up a pin to disable it possibly
    Apr 5, 2016 8:49 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah
Apr 5, 2016 8:50 AM - JeffTheMess: or you can add a POT
    Apr 5, 2016 8:51 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: POT?
    Apr 5, 2016 8:52 AM - daniel871: There's a setting somewhere in the firmware too.
Apr 5, 2016 8:52 AM - AxisLab: Every on once in awhile I see people posting about the beeps driving them mad. Like some are ears are tuned more to the frequencies. It's odd to me, like I could care less really, and I think the majority of people don't notice it much either. I wonder what it is with the select few that it's like chalkboard to them.
Apr 5, 2016 8:52 AM - AxisLab: It seems the people that hate it, like REALLY hate it lol
Apr 5, 2016 8:52 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: I work in a close knit office and my co-workers are getting sick of listening to it
Apr 5, 2016 8:53 AM - AxisLab: But isn't the hours of machine noise, more noticable then a couple beeps to start a print?
Apr 5, 2016 8:53 AM - JeffTheMess: the sounds of the printer running not a problem, the beep...IT'S TOO MUCH lol
    Apr 5, 2016 8:54 AM - daniel871: Look for these in Configuration.h
    Apr 5, 2016 8:54 AM - daniel871: #define LCD_FEEDBACK_FREQUENCY_DURATION_MS 100 #define LCD_FEEDBACK_FREQUENCY_HZ 1000
Apr 5, 2016 8:54 AM - AxisLab: Does your office have a microwave? Has anyone complained about those beeps?
Apr 5, 2016 8:54 AM - daniel871: The first one is the duration of the sound. The second is the pitch.
Apr 5, 2016 8:54 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: great thanks daniel
Apr 5, 2016 8:55 AM - daniel871: So, like, if you had a way of determining what frequency = the sound you'd prefer to hear, you could enter that instead.
Apr 5, 2016 8:55 AM - daniel871: And of course, changing the frequency to 0 disables it.
    Apr 5, 2016 8:55 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: gotcha
Apr 5, 2016 8:57 AM - daniel871: I think, for example, if you wanted it to be similar to A3 on a note key you'd set it to 440.
Apr 5, 2016 8:57 AM - AxisLab: 528hz is the love frequency it seems, I just googled "most soothing frequency"
Apr 5, 2016 8:57 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: great thanks for all the smart ass remarks as well
Apr 5, 2016 8:58 AM - AxisLab: Play some Marvin Gaye, and beep your coworkers all day baby, ooh yeah.
    Apr 5, 2016 9:00 AM - JeffTheMess: it wouldn't be robo without them :)
    Apr 5, 2016 9:02 AM - AxisLab:
Apr 5, 2016 9:03 AM - AxisLab: I think that's how the robots are going to lull us into obedience.
    Apr 5, 2016 9:04 AM - JeffTheMess: shhh...sleep child...sleeeep
    Apr 5, 2016 9:05 AM - toymaker:
    Apr 5, 2016 9:05 AM - AxisLab: Winning
Apr 5, 2016 9:13 AM - toymaker: anyone seen tool live? prertty cool man
Apr 5, 2016 9:16 AM - AxisLab: Twice. First time was scheduled for 9-11-2001. Planes hit, show was postponed until thursday Sept 13th. Most intense show I had been too. 2 Days after 9/11 and in an arena full of people thinking it could be the end of us. Not to mention the energy and Maynard. I still get chills.
Apr 5, 2016 9:17 AM - toymaker: nice, i caught them at coachella one year..... all i can say is wow
    Apr 5, 2016 9:17 AM - toymaker: around 100k people
Apr 5, 2016 9:27 AM - AxisLab: Huge group of people out front of the arena, holding a long banner to the street "I'm still right here, giving blood, keeping faith". . . Shit. It was an intense show. I think I just slipped back into my head a bit thinking about it. whew..
    Apr 5, 2016 10:38 AM - jbigler1986: I saw Tool live like 12 years ago. Was amazing
    Apr 5, 2016 12:02 PM - Bill Monroe: hello
    Apr 5, 2016 1:38 PM - daniel871: Anyone want to waste filament and print a hammer? http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:34404
    Apr 5, 2016 1:39 PM - TstarkEngineering: I will with 2% infill :-D
Apr 5, 2016 1:40 PM - danzca6: did he use a sharpie on that thing?
Apr 5, 2016 1:42 PM - danzca6: and the arrow that shows which direction to swing it is classic
Apr 5, 2016 1:43 PM - TstarkEngineering: yes that is a sharpie, and no he cannot stay in between the lines :)
Apr 5, 2016 2:21 PM - JeffTheMess: Does anyone know what the crc mismatch is?
Apr 5, 2016 2:31 PM - TstarkEngineering: A CRC mismatch will occur when both games don't have the same patch version.
    Apr 5, 2016 3:05 PM - JeffTheMess: What!?
Apr 5, 2016 3:07 PM - JeffTheMess: So im running the robo no filament and sd xard receiver disconnected from the ramps board and its working
    Apr 5, 2016 3:29 PM - lichaem69: does anyone know where i can download the r1+ marlin
    Apr 5, 2016 3:33 PM - bamhm182: Hey all
Apr 5, 2016 3:34 PM - Printed Solid: it's the same as the R1 with lead screws upgrade on their support page.
Apr 5, 2016 3:36 PM - bamhm182: Have any of you guys messed around with laser engraving?
Apr 5, 2016 3:48 PM - Printed Solid: I've got a zmorph that is an all in one machine with a laser as part of it, but the laser is pretty low power.
Apr 5, 2016 3:56 PM - bamhm182: Fair enough. I'm trying to figure out where I can get some cheap anodized aluminum blanks
Apr 5, 2016 3:56 PM - Printed Solid: no idea on that.
Apr 5, 2016 3:57 PM - Printed Solid: oh, wait... you're local now?
Apr 5, 2016 3:57 PM - Printed Solid: let me check around.
    Apr 5, 2016 3:58 PM - bamhm182: What do you mean by a local
Apr 5, 2016 4:00 PM - Printed Solid: within a few hours of me. All the metal places I know are local places. I have their #s at work. Can get you some tomorrow.
    Apr 5, 2016 4:09 PM - bamhm182: Gotcha. I would appreciate it
Apr 5, 2016 4:10 PM - bamhm182: I'm just looking for black anodized aluminum blanks around 2"x3" or 2"x4" for some little going away presents my squadron
Apr 5, 2016 4:11 PM - Printed Solid: I will get some numbers.
Apr 5, 2016 4:11 PM - Printed Solid: Can't promise they will have anything, but never hurts to try.
Apr 5, 2016 4:12 PM - bamhm182: Found 100 2"x3.5" on eBay for $85, so that's looking to be the best I can find for now. If you manage to find some for cheaper, that'd be great. If not, I really appreciate your effort
    Apr 5, 2016 4:47 PM - daniel871: Posted a thread about the goofy prints I'm getting. The CES 2016 Robo3D R1+Plus
    Apr 5, 2016 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: Oozing
    Apr 5, 2016 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: What temps
    Apr 5, 2016 6:05 PM - daniel871: 195 on the hotend for PLA.

Apr 6, 2016 at 5:21 AM - Bill Monroe: Hey Jeff
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:21 AM - JeffTheMess: Hey Bill hows it going
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: pretty good.. about to start my robo
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:23 AM - Bill Monroe: you?
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:23 AM - JeffTheMess: not bad
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:23 AM - JeffTheMess: what you going to print?
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:24 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm designing an enclosure to snap-on to my RC transmitter
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:25 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:25 AM - Bill Monroe: i made a secondary transmitter to trigger a reciever on a speaker/amp to play sound bites while I am flying
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:27 AM - JeffTheMess: sounds cool
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:27 AM - Bill Monroe: so it's 10 buttons, a 3-way switch and a power switch with a transmitter circuit and battery.. using the robo to make a housing that will clip on the back
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:29 AM - JeffTheMess: I want to see it together when your done
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: ya I'll take pics
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:33 AM - Bill Monroe: I had my son build the electronics.. that boy is an artist when it comes to prototyping circuit boards :)
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: so what you up to today?
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:40 AM - JeffTheMess: nothing much I think I will be able to printt
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: got it sorted out?
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:41 AM - JeffTheMess: i tried running it yesterday with no filament and disconnected the sd card receiver from the ramps board and it went on fine
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:41 AM - JeffTheMess: today I will put the filament in
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: how long did you run it?
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:42 AM - JeffTheMess: almost 2 hours
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: kool
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: did you heat it up?
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:43 AM - JeffTheMess: yup
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: for the whole 2 hours?
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:44 AM - JeffTheMess: yup
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: that's encouraging
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, lets see how it does with the filament in, I would asume no problems though
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: did you buy that panel?
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:47 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:50 AM - JeffTheMess: I havent bought it anything yet
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: K
Apr 6, 2016 at 5:53 AM - JeffTheMess: jeez Daniel where do you find these pics!?
    Apr 6, 2016 at 6:37 AM - daniel871: The Internet (TM)
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Is there actually anybody here or is the Members in Chat broken?
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: hang on, I'll check
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: nope.. no one here
    Apr 6, 2016 at 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: they shut that off months ago cuz weenies and wimps complained that the ever-changing list "bothered" them
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: That's what I thought, no one was home. Didn't realize we had so many complainers.
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:43 AM - JeffTheMess: welcome to the robo site
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: **** disclaimer**** the comments, though accurate, do not necessarily reflect the beliefs of the chat room owners or their puppeteers,,
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:44 AM - daniel871: Wait, people bother to look at the Members Online section?
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: in chat
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:45 AM - WheresWaldo: I do especially when I see comments in Shoutbox that are several hours old.
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: scroll back and review
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: I suppose a lot do what I do, just leave a tab open to Shoutbox and don't do anything with it until the urge hits them.
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:47 AM - JeffTheMess: maybe thats why people are not coming on as much anymore
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:47 AM - WheresWaldo: Or you feel the need to encourage daniel871 when he posts some weird ass picture.
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:48 AM - WheresWaldo: JTM maybe because Robo has nothing new.
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont think the company promotes it much anymore
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: It as in Shoutbox, the website or the company in general?
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:55 AM - daniel871: Hey, I haven't posted any NWS ass pictures in a long time.
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: Shoutbox
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:58 AM - WheresWaldo: National Weather Service pictures?

Apr 6, 2016 at 7:12 AM - WheresWaldo: What are we looking at Bill?
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:12 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I know you meant NSFW.
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:21 AM - TstarkEngineering: I just leave the forum index page open to where it shows the shoutbox on the right, not sure if it actually shows me in the quote unquote room
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:22 AM - daniel871: Same here. That page says 9 people are in the chatroom, but doesn't give names.
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:23 AM - daniel871: Man, Pandora is acting weird lately. Have a channel that was based off of Rise Against, and it's suggesting country music songs.
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:34 AM - TstarkEngineering: haha wow that is off
    Apr 6, 2016 at 7:49 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:49 AM - daniel871: I don't care what music genome project they ran says, Tim McGraw is nothing like the kind of music Rise Against puts out.
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:02 AM - TstarkEngineering: im probably late to noticing this, but didnt anyone else notice they updated the R2 teaser page... http://robo3d.com/r2-teasers/
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:04 AM - TstarkEngineering: also something about "It will also make available the ‘connector enhancement’ device: ROBO-Mobile."
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:10 AM - daniel871: I like how the links to download the teasers just open the image file shown there.
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:12 AM - danzca6: yeah I noticed the new "renders" of R2 pics awhile back
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:14 AM - JeffTheMess: that dont mean nothing until I see a real one working
    Apr 6, 2016 at 8:15 AM - danzca6: ^
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:16 AM - AutopsyTurvy: allo folks
    Apr 6, 2016 at 8:17 AM - danzca6: hello
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:17 AM - danzca6: how did your project turn out?
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:19 AM - daniel871: I like how the CES videos that I've seen so far about the R2 don't actually show it printing.
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:20 AM - daniel871: "Check out this LCD screen and menus, but we aren't actually going to make it do anything."
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:24 AM - danzca6: I was surprised by that as well daniel. Harry said they were printing with them at CES and when they did interviews they are all just sitting there. Having them moving and printing would be a lot better to prove that they are close to being ready for release.
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:33 AM - TstarkEngineering: there is a video out there and im trying to find it of it briefly printing
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:44 AM - danzca6: that would be good. I tried a week ago or so and didn't find anything
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:46 AM - TstarkEngineering: I saw the video in january. thought nothing of it...its just a short short clip buried with the rest of the stuff
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:48 AM - daniel871: Pretty sure that the clip you're thinking of was cleverly disguised axis jogging if it's the same clip I'm thinking of, in that it wasn't a time-lapse of something being printed and you didn't really get a good look at the material vs. the axis movements to see if it was actually extruding plastic or not.
Apr 6, 2016 at 8:50 AM - TstarkEngineering: to be honest I dont remember
Apr 6, 2016 at 9:44 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya im either loosing it, or cant find the video. The best I could do is a picture of the front and back while its printing
Apr 6, 2016 at 9:56 AM - JeffTheMess: anyone printing
Apr 6, 2016 at 9:59 AM - TstarkEngineering: at this exact second?
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM - TstarkEngineering: or was that in regards to my previous comment?
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:01 AM - JeffTheMess: in general
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:10 AM - TstarkEngineering: I print every night when I get home from work...
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:10 AM - TstarkEngineering: working on a couple patents
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:11 AM - JeffTheMess: your own patents?
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:22 AM - TstarkEngineering: yes, a couple are provisional right now until/if they take off
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:24 AM - JeffTheMess: sounds fun
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:24 AM - TstarkEngineering: none of the product is to the market yet, the first real prototype will be finished this weekend which I am excited about
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:25 AM - JeffTheMess: did you already go through the first stage of patents? it last like a year
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:29 AM - TstarkEngineering: no these are provisional....
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:30 AM - TstarkEngineering: which means we have a year to file, but still logged as the first to file
Apr 6, 2016 at 10:30 AM - TstarkEngineering: so its "patent pending" stage

Apr 6, 2016 at 10:31 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, the full patent is the real deal, i've heard it like 15 grand....I have a few project I wish to do that with but its alot of time and money
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:03 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya its expensive
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:04 AM - TstarkEngineering: but if sales are what is anticipated...its whats got to be done
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:09 AM - JeffTheMess: that is true
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:15 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:16 AM - danzca6: really? needed a lifeline on that one?
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:16 AM - PeterkSharma: good morning
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:17 AM - danzca6: good afternoon
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:17 AM - daniel871: I like the parts of the audience that were obviously voting to try and mess the guy up.
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:18 AM - daniel871: LOL at "Llamathrust".
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:19 AM - TstarkEngineering: haha thats awesome
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:19 AM - TstarkEngineering: anyone noticed this on printed solid for robo enclosure? NOTICE: 3/21 Thank you for your interest in the enclosure. We expect that this item will be out of stock for the next several weeks as we prepare to launch two new versions. Keep an eye on this space!
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:19 AM - danzca6: sounds like a good porn name
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:20 AM - daniel871: I honestly haven't bought anything from PrintedSolid since the site redesign ditched Amazon Payments.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:20 AM - danzca6: MK mentioned he is working on a new glue free version
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:22 AM - danzca6: PS is still my goto place if they have what I am looking for
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:23 AM - TstarkEngineering: I have yet to try printing abs yet on that machine, and feel like i will have warping. I just seriously hate the look of the enclosures
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:24 AM - daniel871: I've been printing ABS on my i3 without an enclosure with no problems.
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:24 AM - JeffTheMess: http://qz.com/655504/mit-scientists-created-a-working-hydraulic-robot-from-a-single-3d-print/
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:24 AM - TstarkEngineering: Ill have to try it tonight on my robo
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:25 AM - daniel871: I just spent some time prepping the bed by spraying a heavy layer of Aquanet on the bed, letting it dry, then another heavy layer, letting that dry then a final light layer before printing.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:26 AM - PeterkSharma: I print ABS on my robo without an enclosure
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:26 AM - TstarkEngineering: Ill give it a shot then...
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:27 AM - TstarkEngineering: all my other printers I always get warping or separation or something
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:27 AM - TstarkEngineering: especially with PC
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:28 AM - PeterkSharma: PC is one of the highest warp factors
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:28 AM - PeterkSharma: Glue stick works for everything for me. There are times where I apply painters tape. Most of the time its just glue stick.
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:29 AM - TstarkEngineering: I blended a cube the other day. 50%abs white, 50% PC...no warping but I have a really good enclosure
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:29 AM - PeterkSharma: That is for any filament on the Robo. PC is just a tough one.
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:30 AM - daniel871: Ordered a spool of Alloy 910 to try on the i3.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:32 AM - TstarkEngineering: yay nylon....dry the crap out of it lol
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:35 AM - NFOsec: nice,. I think you'll enjoy the 910.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:35 AM - NFOsec: 910, 618, Hatchbox PLA, and BluPrint (in that order) are my primary print filaments.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:36 AM - NFOsec: fortunately I still have 3 spools of the 910 and 618 left and only 1 BluPrint. :(
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:36 AM - PeterkSharma: I've been loving how HIPS prints.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:37 AM - NFOsec: yeah, HIPS is cool, but I only had a very small sample that I used, need to consider ordering if I find an application.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:37 AM - NFOsec: how goes Peter?
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:37 AM - NFOsec: Does anyone have a "highly
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:38 AM - PeterkSharma: Goes well. How goes it with you?
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:38 AM - NFOsec: er "highly" recommended XXL LCD mount for the Robo R1++ they would suggest?
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:38 AM - PeterkSharma: Have been taking a break from printing to try and grow some pot.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:38 AM - PeterkSharma: Back to printing
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:38 AM - NFOsec: I just got the board in today, haven't thought much about that angle yet.
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:38 AM - NFOsec: nice.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:38 AM - NFOsec: print some pot, it's equally carcingenic. :)
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:41 AM - PeterkSharma: Wouldnt that be cool
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:42 AM - NFOsec: it's coming...
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:42 AM - NFOsec: just need to find a decent XXL LCD mount for the Robo so I can untether my Robo if desired, or at least for long print jobs.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:44 AM - PeterkSharma: I'm currently printing an oiler for some carbon fiber printing
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:46 AM - TstarkEngineering:
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:46 AM - TstarkEngineering: NFO i think that is what a lot of people use
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:46 AM - TstarkEngineering: I dont have an xxl
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:47 AM - TstarkEngineering: I didnt feel like spending 70 dollars on one so I bought a reprap smart lcd
    Apr 6, 2016 at 11:50 AM - Schlomo: I just use a Raspberry Pi
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:51 AM - Schlomo: mainly because I had a few laying around
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:56 AM - NFOsec: Yeah, I know there are lots of choices, but it is what it is.
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:56 AM - Schlomo: Right. Personally, i dont think its worth the extra money for the XXL, if i had to buy one i'd go with the discount
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:57 AM - Schlomo: mainy because iv'e used both and the cost is just not worth it to me. I have a discount on my mini tantillus printer my Robo gave birth to
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:58 AM - Schlomo: only reason i use that is because I cannot print via USB on that stupid Chineese rip-off of a Arduino board
Apr 6, 2016 at 11:58 AM - Schlomo: have to program it via the debug port if i want to flash software to it.. its stupid
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:08 PM - danzca6: nfo, I am using this mount for the XXL. The feet are a great upgrade as well for better airflow. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:681887
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:10 PM - danzca6: Schlomo, I just got a chinese arduino mega and the USB will power it, but I can't flash to it. What debug port are you using
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:33 PM - Schlomo: There is an I2C bus, 6 pins, usually near the center of the board
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:34 PM - Schlomo: i had to purchase an avrdude pocket programmer to flash
    Apr 6, 2016 at 12:34 PM - Schlomo: http://www.amazon.com/SparkFun-Spar...e=UTF8&qid=1459971035&sr=8-3&keywords=avrdude
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:34 PM - danzca6: oh yeah, I know the one you are talking about. So what do you use to hook to it
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:34 PM - Schlomo: in the end it was cheaper than buying a legit board, but its a pain in the ass
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:34 PM - Schlomo: you flash using Arduino IDE, but instead of doing a normal fflash program you program using debugger
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:34 PM - Schlomo: there are a bunch of tutorials on it
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:35 PM - danzca6: thanks...I will order that and see if that helps. Looks like a good gadget to have around for the $
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:36 PM - Schlomo: yeah, i have a few arduinos anyway so i figured it wouldn't hurt to have one anyway if it didnt solve my problem
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:36 PM - danzca6: I am in contact with the seller and he says he will replace it, but I am not confident that the new one will be any better
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:36 PM - Schlomo: i orignally wanted to re-flash the bootloard of the chinese board and see if that fixed it
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:36 PM - Schlomo: but it didnt work
    Apr 6, 2016 at 12:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i made dis: https://patents.google.com/patent/US9296665B2/en
    Apr 6, 2016 at 12:40 PM - danzca6: cool mk
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:40 PM - danzca6: how was the whole process for you
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i was rather uninvolved, just gave our chemist the information and he did everything
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:42 PM - danzca6: nice to at least be able to say you have a patent
Apr 6, 2016 at 12:43 PM - Mike Kelly: for sure
    Apr 6, 2016 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: Is it Friday yet?

    Apr 6, 2016 at 1:41 PM - TstarkEngineering: haha
Apr 6, 2016 at 1:41 PM - TstarkEngineering: thats applicable because mike is on here
Apr 6, 2016 at 1:43 PM - TstarkEngineering: anyone know the total depth of the machine at the maximum table movement
    Apr 6, 2016 at 2:13 PM - jbigler1986: Good question
    Apr 6, 2016 at 2:21 PM - jbigler1986: MK how is the robo I3 mounts going? :D
Apr 6, 2016 at 2:45 PM - TstarkEngineering: i3 mounts? what is mike doing?
Apr 6, 2016 at 3:02 PM - TstarkEngineering: aparently makerbot just hit 100000 units sold..i dont know what the big deal is about makerbot i think they are way overpriced for nothing special
Apr 6, 2016 at 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: It's just because they were the first mainstream one to the market
Apr 6, 2016 at 3:11 PM - jbigler1986: Also me and MK were talking about making i3 style carriage for the robo. I don't have the design skills to make them so I keep bugging him
    Apr 6, 2016 at 3:14 PM - toymaker: why?
Apr 6, 2016 at 3:17 PM - toymaker: 100,000 sold but how many returned...
Apr 6, 2016 at 3:17 PM - toymaker: i can design u i3 style if u want... but i dont know why u want to lol
Apr 6, 2016 at 4:32 PM - jbigler1986: Way more carriages and other options to fiddle with than the Robo style
    Apr 6, 2016 at 4:38 PM - bamhm182: That's what I figured. I still haven't managed to find a dial indicator holder that I like
Apr 6, 2016 at 4:55 PM - toymaker: u dont happen to have the robo 3d hole patterns... i cant seem to dind the file
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:12 PM - jbigler1986: I do not toy. Sorry
    Apr 6, 2016 at 5:12 PM - jbigler1986: Are they on thingiverse

Apr 6, 2016 at 6:34 PM - danzca6: Makerbot isn't doing as well as they want you to think.http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160...rbot-downsizes-brooklyn-production-space.html
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:35 PM - Bill Monroe: but... but.... I dont want to think they're doing well....
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:43 PM - toymaker: jb, what do they use on the prusa for connecting the threaded rods... isi it a direct connect or do they have the nuts
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:48 PM - jbigler1986: No idea. I have the leadscrews with a delrun nut
    Apr 6, 2016 at 6:49 PM - jbigler1986: Delrin
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:52 PM - daniel871: Well, the extruder stepper motor just died.
    Apr 6, 2016 at 6:53 PM - toymaker: what?
    Apr 6, 2016 at 6:53 PM - danzca6: Overheat?
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:54 PM - toymaker: maybe the stepper driver?
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:54 PM - toymaker: pretty hard to kill a stepper motor
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:54 PM - toymaker: what size are the delrun nuts?
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:55 PM - jbigler1986: Um. Let me see if I can find the specs
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:56 PM - Bill Monroe: Karma
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:57 PM - daniel871: No. It was mid-print on a repeat of the statue model in the thread I posted, but with different retraction settings, when it just stopped responding altogether. No clicking, nothing.
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: Not finding dimensions of the nut itself. These are the ones I'm using.
Apr 6, 2016 at 6:58 PM - daniel871: Unplugged the wires from the stepper and plugged them into another stepper I have from the spares I bought back when the original R1 was dying and it spun, so it's not the driver.

Apr 6, 2016 at 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: Bill may have the dimensions because I believe he bought replacement delrin nuts
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:08 PM - toymaker: ok im oversizing the bearing holes from 15mm actural to like 15.25mm, my printer always seems to make circles lsightly smallerr
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:09 PM - toymaker: for the horizontal shafts im gonna leave 8mm... i was thinking just heat your shaft up some and insert
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:09 PM - toymaker: the limit switch will be on the carriage?
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:26 PM - toymaker: http://imgur.com/Jf6tBW9 im not sure what size to make the hex opening to accept your nut lol
Apr 6, 2016 at 7:28 PM - toymaker: and i have poor lighting in my garage right now so i cant even see to measure it lol

Apr 6, 2016 9:37 PM - toymaker: just rending that image for a prusa style robo mod

    Apr 7, 2016 1:54 AM - jbigler1986: Looks good toy
Apr 7, 2016 1:55 AM - jbigler1986: X limit switch is not on the carriage
Apr 7, 2016 5:48 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning robonauts
    Apr 7, 2016 6:20 AM - daniel871: Morning.
Apr 7, 2016 6:21 AM - daniel871: Sent in a replacement part request for that bad extruder motor this morning.
Apr 7, 2016 6:21 AM - JeffTheMess: you still got the 6 months?
Apr 7, 2016 6:22 AM - daniel871: Yeah, I didn't actually get the printer until partway through March.
Apr 7, 2016 6:22 AM - daniel871: Took almost a month to ship after winning the contest, then took another two weeks to get here.
Apr 7, 2016 6:23 AM - JeffTheMess: good ol' robo
Apr 7, 2016 6:24 AM - daniel871: I'm tempted to ask for a replacement bed because the one I have is almost a full millimeter out of flatness at one end but I figure that won't count as a warrantied part.
    Apr 7, 2016 6:25 AM - JeffTheMess: give it a shot
Apr 7, 2016 6:26 AM - daniel871: Also, looking around for that 3DLAC stuff people have been raving about, there is one supplier that will ship to US addresses. But it's expensive. http://revolution3dprinters.com/shop-product-materials-3dlac
Apr 7, 2016 6:28 AM - JeffTheMess: aquanet is good enough for me
Apr 7, 2016 6:29 AM - daniel871: It's just weird to me that nobody in the US is stocking it.
    Apr 7, 2016 6:29 AM - JeffTheMess: ebay?
    Apr 7, 2016 6:30 AM - daniel871: Doesn't come up in searches.
Apr 7, 2016 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Apr 7, 2016 6:30 AM - daniel871: Not on Ebay's direct search, using Google and "3DLAC" and "Ebay" as search terms finds one listing.
    Apr 7, 2016 6:31 AM - daniel871: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3DLAC-Anti-...rs-perfect-3D-prints-every-time-/221765211527
Apr 7, 2016 6:31 AM - daniel871: "May not ship to the United States"
Apr 7, 2016 6:35 AM - daniel871: I think PrintedSolid has used the stuff, but got it at a trade show or something and didn't actually have a source to stock it and sell it himself.
    Apr 7, 2016 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: Bandaid in a can
Apr 7, 2016 6:48 AM - daniel871: I'm mainly curious about it because it's not available anywhere in the US.
    Apr 7, 2016 6:52 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe it's VOCs
Apr 7, 2016 6:53 AM - daniel871: Probably, since the ingredients on the can lists Propane of all things.
Apr 7, 2016 6:54 AM - daniel871: At least, if the Specifications tab here is right. http://revolution3dprinters.com/shop-product-materials-3dlac

Apr 7, 2016 7:17 AM - danzca6: Looks good Bill. Is that the new controller box you have been working on
Apr 7, 2016 7:19 AM - danzca6: daniel, glad you are reaching out to robo for support on that CES machine finally...I really hope they get you squared away on it and take good care of you.
    Apr 7, 2016 7:23 AM - toymaker: yo
Apr 7, 2016 7:30 AM - danzca6: hey toy...doing some interesting mod designs last night
Apr 7, 2016 7:31 AM - daniel871: We'll see. I'm thinking it doesn't bode well that a stepper failed after less than 30 hours of work.
Apr 7, 2016 7:31 AM - danzca6: I'm surprised someone hasn't gone down that road before with the X axis
    Apr 7, 2016 7:32 AM - danzca6: that's true...still makes me wonder if the CES machine was a refurb
Apr 7, 2016 7:33 AM - danzca6: If nothing else, ping off of Harry. He has done great on things I needed help with in the past for getting things sorted out
Apr 7, 2016 7:35 AM - daniel871: I'm pretty sure it is a refurb. The steppers have plugs at the stepper itself for the wires while I think the actual newer Robos have wires integrated into the motor itself (like the Z-axis upgrade steppers that I got for the R1).
Apr 7, 2016 7:37 AM - danzca6: the new ones have where you can unplug at the motor...mine is hard wired
    Apr 7, 2016 7:37 AM - danzca6: my z upgrade motors have a plug at the motor
Apr 7, 2016 7:37 AM - daniel871: Things are all messed up then.
    Apr 7, 2016 7:37 AM - daniel871: My Z upgrade motors came hardwired.
Apr 7, 2016 7:38 AM - daniel871: For the original R1, all of the R1+ motors have plugs at the steppers.
Apr 7, 2016 7:39 AM - danzca6: I have a refurb R1 and the original steppers are all hard wired. i like having the plugs at the motor...makes it easy to replace
    Apr 7, 2016 7:40 AM - danzca6: did you get the upgrade z early?
    Apr 7, 2016 7:41 AM - daniel871: Yeah, when it was $50.
    Apr 7, 2016 7:41 AM - danzca6: wow....$50...that's a great deal
    Apr 7, 2016 7:41 AM - danzca6: I paid the $100
    Apr 7, 2016 7:41 AM - JeffTheMess: [IMG]
Apr 7, 2016 7:42 AM - daniel871: Not really, first set came in bent, same as second set, third set I gave up.
    Apr 7, 2016 7:42 AM - danzca6: haha
    Apr 7, 2016 7:42 AM - danzca6: well...I guess $50 comes with some pain
Apr 7, 2016 7:43 AM - daniel871: I've had exceedingly bad luck with things shipped from Robo so it's had a lot of impact on why I'm always rolling my eyes whenever someone says the build quality is good or whatever.
Apr 7, 2016 7:46 AM - danzca6: ok...noob question...since I forgot...how do you embed an image into SB? I click the image button and get the two IMG tags. Do you just put the url inbetween or do you need to specify a src= in the IMG tag?
Apr 7, 2016 7:47 AM - daniel871: You put the url between the tags.
    Apr 7, 2016 7:48 AM - daniel871: It's not quite like html.
Apr 7, 2016 7:48 AM - danzca6: ok...I did that the other day and got the black x and thought I did something wrong
Apr 7, 2016 7:49 AM - daniel871: Was it a direct link to the image itself or IMGURs short link?
Apr 7, 2016 7:49 AM - daniel871: It has to have the extension on the end of it to work.
Apr 7, 2016 7:49 AM - danzca6: It was a full url path to the jpg
Apr 7, 2016 7:50 AM - danzca6: it was the hump day pic I posted yesterday
Apr 7, 2016 7:52 AM - daniel871: That pic showed up for me.
    Apr 7, 2016 7:53 AM - danzca6: ok...maybe it is just my work pc being a beatch
Apr 7, 2016 8:07 AM - daniel871: Man, that thread about G2/G3 being used on a slicer for arcs has me all kinds of irrationally excited.
Apr 7, 2016 8:12 AM - daniel871: More because I hate that current slicers break arcs into so many short linear moves vs. just one command for the majority of the arc like a regular CNC mill would do.
    Apr 7, 2016 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: doods
    Apr 7, 2016 9:16 AM - daniel871: Eh?
Apr 7, 2016 9:57 AM - JasonSolves: anyone got a good answer for a stupid question?
    Apr 7, 2016 10:03 AM - TstarkEngineering: 19,2345
    Apr 7, 2016 10:05 AM - TstarkEngineering: +2
Apr 7, 2016 10:05 AM - JasonSolves: that is pretty good.
Apr 7, 2016 10:06 AM - JasonSolves: But my question was about offset.
Apr 7, 2016 10:06 AM - JasonSolves: I think going up (positive) means more space from the head to the bed
Apr 7, 2016 10:07 AM - JasonSolves: so -.7 to 0 would be moving further away... right?
Apr 7, 2016 10:10 AM - TstarkEngineering: so positive means you are increasing the distance from the bed to the nozzle
Apr 7, 2016 10:10 AM - TstarkEngineering: negative means you are decreasing the nozzle distance.
Apr 7, 2016 10:10 AM - danzca6: I have that commented in my start gcode because I always get unsure of myself when changing it
Apr 7, 2016 10:10 AM - TstarkEngineering: negative below the board, positive above, 0 is like touching
    Apr 7, 2016 10:11 AM - JasonSolves: oh
    Apr 7, 2016 10:11 AM - JasonSolves: so default is 0
Apr 7, 2016 10:11 AM - JasonSolves: which "should be touching"
Apr 7, 2016 10:12 AM - TstarkEngineering: depends on the slicer
Apr 7, 2016 10:12 AM - JasonSolves: if your head is dragging +
    Apr 7, 2016 10:12 AM - TstarkEngineering: 0 is not necessarily touching
Apr 7, 2016 10:12 AM - JasonSolves: if your head it too hight -
Apr 7, 2016 10:12 AM - TstarkEngineering: if your head is dragging. increase it to +
    Apr 7, 2016 10:13 AM - TstarkEngineering: example:
Apr 7, 2016 10:13 AM - TstarkEngineering: my first layer was to close and squishing
    Apr 7, 2016 10:13 AM - TstarkEngineering: so i changed my z-axis offset to +.10mm
    Apr 7, 2016 10:16 AM - JasonSolves: that is what I thought
    Apr 7, 2016 10:16 AM - JasonSolves: thanks.
Apr 7, 2016 10:16 AM - TstarkEngineering: no problem :) every bed is different so youll probably have to change it till you get it where you want it :-D
Apr 7, 2016 10:21 AM - JasonSolves: I had it perfect, but something changed
Apr 7, 2016 10:21 AM - JasonSolves: now I cannot not it to extrude

Apr 7, 2016 10:21 AM - JasonSolves: so I am assuming too low
    Apr 7, 2016 10:21 AM - TstarkEngineering: are you running a skirt?
    Apr 7, 2016 10:24 AM - JasonSolves: nope
Apr 7, 2016 10:26 AM - JasonSolves: it is so odd.
Apr 7, 2016 10:26 AM - TstarkEngineering: try running a skirt, sometimes it take a little before material extrudes... can you see light between the nozzle and the bed?
Apr 7, 2016 10:26 AM - JasonSolves: I mean I have issues, resolve it. then print like 5 things
Apr 7, 2016 10:26 AM - JasonSolves: then try and print #6 and nothing good
    Apr 7, 2016 10:28 AM - jbigler1986: Hello
    Apr 7, 2016 10:28 AM - JasonSolves: hello
Apr 7, 2016 10:30 AM - TstarkEngineering: sounds like you have something loose on the machine
Apr 7, 2016 10:31 AM - TstarkEngineering: maybe go around and check to make sure everything is tight
Apr 7, 2016 10:31 AM - TstarkEngineering: what is it doing on the 6th print exactly that causes you to question things?
Apr 7, 2016 10:32 AM - JasonSolves: grinding the filiment
Apr 7, 2016 10:32 AM - JasonSolves: and not extruding
Apr 7, 2016 10:33 AM - TstarkEngineering: what filament are you using
Apr 7, 2016 10:33 AM - TstarkEngineering: sounds like a filament/gear problem...are your screws to loose? are you running an odd filament and type?
Apr 7, 2016 10:33 AM - TstarkEngineering: maybe you have material build up on the gear
    Apr 7, 2016 10:34 AM - JasonSolves: alright
Apr 7, 2016 10:34 AM - JasonSolves: something else is wrong
Apr 7, 2016 10:35 AM - JasonSolves: I changed the offset from -.06 to .01 and no change
    Apr 7, 2016 10:35 AM - JasonSolves: I assumed it would have a gap
Apr 7, 2016 10:35 AM - TstarkEngineering: it should yes...what software are you using?
Apr 7, 2016 10:35 AM - TstarkEngineering: try increasing it significantly and see if it moves
    Apr 7, 2016 10:35 AM - danzca6: you shouldn't be positive right
    Apr 7, 2016 10:36 AM - JasonSolves: I have always been @ -.06
Apr 7, 2016 10:36 AM - JasonSolves: I just put it way off to see if it does anything
    Apr 7, 2016 10:36 AM - jbigler1986: That is a tiny dinference in offset.
Apr 7, 2016 10:37 AM - TstarkEngineering: you are changing it by .01?
Apr 7, 2016 10:37 AM - TstarkEngineering: that is small
Apr 7, 2016 10:37 AM - jbigler1986: Anything 2 decimal places is a tiny difference. Try like .1 or .3 and so on. .01mm is small as heck
    Apr 7, 2016 10:37 AM - TstarkEngineering: going from -.06 to .01 is small
    Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - TstarkEngineering: try like .1 or .2
Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya what jb said
    Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - JasonSolves: sorry
    Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - JasonSolves: M565 Z.1 ; set the offset for auto-leveling mechanism
    Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - JasonSolves: I was @ -.6
    Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - JasonSolves: I added a 0 for fun in the chat.....
    Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - danzca6: that sounds better
Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya mine is currently set to .1 try that
    Apr 7, 2016 10:38 AM - danzca6: -.06 didn't sound right
    Apr 7, 2016 10:39 AM - danzca6: no
    Apr 7, 2016 10:39 AM - danzca6: you shouldn't be positive
    Apr 7, 2016 10:39 AM - JasonSolves: I know, but if I moved it .5 up
Apr 7, 2016 10:39 AM - danzca6: I think the firmware actually keeps you from going positive
Apr 7, 2016 10:39 AM - JasonSolves: it should be noticable
Apr 7, 2016 10:40 AM - danzca6: so setting it to Z.1 will get overriden by the firmware keeping you from digging the nozzle into the bed
    Apr 7, 2016 10:40 AM - JasonSolves: I went slow
Apr 7, 2016 10:40 AM - TstarkEngineering: are you sure its not the other way around dan
    Apr 7, 2016 10:40 AM - JasonSolves: like to -.2
Apr 7, 2016 10:40 AM - daniel871: That negative or not-negative swap drives me nuts on the stock firmware.
Apr 7, 2016 10:41 AM - daniel871: (that and mesh leveling are why I'm glad I ditched stock for the newer version of Marlin).
Apr 7, 2016 10:41 AM - danzca6: pretty sure...I only went to a positive when I went to the IR level setup
Apr 7, 2016 10:41 AM - TstarkEngineering: so going from RC3 to lets say RC5, they swapped it?
    Apr 7, 2016 10:41 AM - jbigler1986: Robo starting point of offset it M565 Z -1
Apr 7, 2016 10:42 AM - JasonSolves: yeah, thanks guys. I need to go to a meeting.... I will try again later
Apr 7, 2016 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: Same. Mine was always negative until I installed the iR
Apr 7, 2016 10:42 AM - TstarkEngineering: because mine is positive but im running rc4
    Apr 7, 2016 10:42 AM - danzca6: oh
Apr 7, 2016 10:42 AM - danzca6: so maybe that would be the diff
    Apr 7, 2016 10:42 AM - TstarkEngineering: so confusing
Apr 7, 2016 10:43 AM - TstarkEngineering: no wonder everyone gets screwed up
Apr 7, 2016 10:43 AM - danzca6: I think Jason is running the stock robo firmware
Apr 7, 2016 10:43 AM - jbigler1986: Well I haven't touched a stock Robo firmware for over a year. I just keep modify the original one
Apr 7, 2016 10:43 AM - TstarkEngineering: if they swapped it that is so stupid but I bet that is the case
Apr 7, 2016 10:43 AM - daniel871: I'd have to check to make sure, but I think the swap from negative to positive happened in one of the later releases, the stock Robo firmware was always negative IIRC.
Apr 7, 2016 10:44 AM - TstarkEngineering: no wonder everyone is confused, im confused and i know which way it is on my printer lol
    Apr 7, 2016 10:44 AM - jbigler1986: Well Robo isn't the smartest company around that's for sure
    Apr 7, 2016 10:44 AM - TstarkEngineering: no kidding
Apr 7, 2016 10:44 AM - daniel871: Should be having the replacement stepper shipped out soon, got the warranty order confirmed for shipping.
    Apr 7, 2016 10:45 AM - danzca6: good deal
Apr 7, 2016 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: I truly don't understand how you have such bad luck. Stop hitting the robo with a hammer
    Apr 7, 2016 10:45 AM - TstarkEngineering: haha
Apr 7, 2016 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: Although I have been close to drop kicking mine a bunch of times
Apr 7, 2016 10:45 AM - daniel871: I think it's a perfect storm of little/no QC and the way shipping companies handle things delivering to the boonies.
    Apr 7, 2016 10:46 AM - jbigler1986: It's weird is all
    Apr 7, 2016 10:46 AM - jbigler1986: Toy are you around?
Apr 7, 2016 10:46 AM - daniel871: Discovering that the main base plate on the R1 was cracked when replacing the cracked bed was a fun moment, let me tell you.
Apr 7, 2016 10:46 AM - danzca6: daniel, do you have anyone else in the house screwing with your robos when you are away?
    Apr 7, 2016 10:47 AM - toymaker: https://www.dropbox.com/s/trzklgqmjy4ruku/Part3.stl?dl=0
Apr 7, 2016 10:47 AM - toymaker: jt print that .. let me know if needs some tweaks
Apr 7, 2016 10:47 AM - daniel871: Nope, the dead R1 and the R1+ are both in the shop and my dad (the only other person that goes in there for anything) doesn't even like his cell phone, so he wouldn't fool around with a 3d printer.
Apr 7, 2016 10:48 AM - TstarkEngineering: or maybe hes plotting against technology because he doesnt like his cell phone and doesnt want you to enjoy it either....dun dun dun
Apr 7, 2016 10:48 AM - toymaker: cracked base plate, bad stepper.... what next =\
    Apr 7, 2016 10:49 AM - TstarkEngineering: fire?
Apr 7, 2016 10:49 AM - daniel871: Nah, he thinks the stuff I've pulled off with the i3 is neat, but he wouldn't try to run the machine himself because he isn't computer-literate enough to try to make anything that way.
Apr 7, 2016 10:49 AM - daniel871: No, the cracked plate was on the original R1. The R1+ hasn't had any cracked parts (yet).
Apr 7, 2016 10:50 AM - toymaker: the acrylic base plate?
    Apr 7, 2016 10:50 AM - daniel871: Yeah.
Apr 7, 2016 10:50 AM - daniel871: Right between the screw holes that hold the Y-axis bearings in place.
Apr 7, 2016 10:50 AM - toymaker: maybe someone over tightened the bolts?
Apr 7, 2016 10:51 AM - daniel871: It wasn't connected to any of the screw holes was the weird part.
Apr 7, 2016 10:51 AM - daniel871: That's why I was looking into the aluminum base plate you designed up a while back.
Apr 7, 2016 10:51 AM - daniel871: Half-baked plans of resurrecting the R1 and modifying it to make it my own later.
Apr 7, 2016 10:52 AM - jbigler1986: Thanks toy. Will start that here in a few
Apr 7, 2016 10:52 AM - daniel871: Like, a big square build space frame instead of that goofy shit Robo does now.
Apr 7, 2016 10:52 AM - toymaker: aluinum bnase plate is tricky because the plate will warp as u remove material
Apr 7, 2016 10:53 AM - daniel871: What about the X-carriage to go with that Z-mount, or are you just going to use an i3 carriage already designed on Thingiverse and put an MK8/MK10 cold end on it?
    Apr 7, 2016 10:53 AM - daniel871: Or was that the X carriage?
Apr 7, 2016 10:53 AM - toymaker: i like the limit switch on my carriage... btw
Apr 7, 2016 10:54 AM - toymaker: the spacing from the center of each smooth rod is 1"

Apr 7, 2016 10:57 AM - toymaker: and the hex opening on the bottom is .52 inches x .25 deep
    Apr 7, 2016 10:58 AM - daniel871: Here's one. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:890792
    Apr 7, 2016 10:59 AM - daniel871: 1" is pretty close, that one is at 31mm.
    Apr 7, 2016 10:59 AM - daniel871: I say close, but you know.
    Apr 7, 2016 11:01 AM - daniel871: Well crap, check this out. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:512338

Apr 7, 2016 11:05 AM - toymaker: should i change it too 31mm? right now i have it at 1"
    Apr 7, 2016 11:06 AM - toymaker: 31mm is such a odd number lol
    Apr 7, 2016 11:08 AM - daniel871: It's also way off.
    Apr 7, 2016 11:08 AM - daniel871: Just found this. http://reprap.org/wiki/Vertical_X_Axis_Standard

Apr 7, 2016 11:27 AM - toymaker: print that piece first to make sure things fit
    Apr 7, 2016 11:28 AM - toymaker: 70mm? wow thats alot
Apr 7, 2016 11:29 AM - toymaker: maybe they did 70mm to work with the gregs
    Apr 7, 2016 11:32 AM - daniel871: Maybe.
Apr 7, 2016 1:28 PM - daniel871: I don't know anyone in particular I'd send either of these to, but maybe some of you would enjoy this: http://www.shipabagofdicks.com/pages/free

    Apr 7, 2016 3:06 PM - NFOsec: News Flash - Ballz2Face is now playing.
Apr 7, 2016 3:07 PM - NFOsec: the reason they do that is because it teaches strengthening on follow through hits.
Apr 7, 2016 3:09 PM - NFOsec: just wrapping up on the feet for my XXL LCD installation. Did the mounting bracket/plate/knobs, feet are down to 103 minutes then will put the controller on the R1++

Apr 7, 2016 3:39 PM - bamhm182: I want to find a better case for my full graphics sooner or later
Apr 7, 2016 3:49 PM - jbigler1986: I still have the original case for mine I printed like a year ago
    Apr 7, 2016 3:52 PM - bamhm182: Mine's just kinda hanging out
Apr 7, 2016 6:06 PM - toymaker: jb did u print that part?
    Apr 7, 2016 6:12 PM - jbigler1986: Printing now. Like 30 minutes left
Apr 7, 2016 6:13 PM - jbigler1986: Did you see that I have the x switch not on the carriage

Apr 8, 2016 5:18 AM - Bill Monroe: Hey Jeff
    Apr 8, 2016 5:28 AM - NFOsec: yo.
Apr 8, 2016 5:28 AM - NFOsec: Curious question, if installing the XXL LCD, that would mean that the onboard USB on the right-side will no longer be usable right?
Apr 8, 2016 5:28 AM - NFOsec: I've printed the casing, feet, etc. about ready to mount it on, but wanted to check.
    Apr 8, 2016 5:29 AM - NFOsec: It's Friday? dang, I didn't get that memo.
    Apr 8, 2016 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: thats a bill question
    Apr 8, 2016 5:30 AM - Bill Monroe: it'ts still usable
Apr 8, 2016 5:31 AM - NFOsec: ok, wasn't sure because if you took some cable off the plugs, I don't know what that cable was for...
Apr 8, 2016 5:31 AM - NFOsec: was following this:
Apr 8, 2016 5:31 AM - NFOsec: didn't look at it deep enough yet.
Apr 8, 2016 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: you're only goinf to take off the OEM slot for the mem card.
Apr 8, 2016 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: the one on the XXL will take that function
Apr 8, 2016 5:32 AM - NFOsec: AH, that's what that was. ok.
Apr 8, 2016 5:32 AM - JeffTheMess: So hey, I had a successful print last night
Apr 8, 2016 5:32 AM - NFOsec: wasn't sure, thought sure was a lot of wires for something simple. :)
    Apr 8, 2016 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: yay!
    Apr 8, 2016 5:32 AM - NFOsec: that's nice, inkjet, laser? 3D?
    Apr 8, 2016 5:33 AM - JeffTheMess: lol 3d duh, I am getting closer to my 3dlp!
Apr 8, 2016 5:35 AM - NFOsec: in that video, man, that guy sure did a hack job on the case bottom.
Apr 8, 2016 5:37 AM - Bill Monroe: i just took the bottom of mine off and made a bracket for the fan
Apr 8, 2016 5:45 AM - daniel871: I did the same, except the bracket I made was to hold a 120mm fan instead of that little one that was stock.
Apr 8, 2016 5:46 AM - daniel871: Stepper shipped this morning, so maybe I'll have it sometime late next week to pick up where I left off trying to fine-tune S3D settings.
Apr 8, 2016 5:47 AM - NFOsec: yeah, wasn't sure what impact I would have with the bottom off.
Apr 8, 2016 5:48 AM - daniel871: Bottom off = not having to take it off when you have to get into it for some reason later on.
Apr 8, 2016 5:49 AM - daniel871: Print the lifter feet first/make some feet to keep it up off the table first though.
Apr 8, 2016 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: man, it's pouring rain here
    Apr 8, 2016 5:50 AM - daniel871: April showers, etc.

Apr 8, 2016 5:53 AM - danzca6: probably will amount to nothing, but still hate seeing it in April
    Apr 8, 2016 5:53 AM - danzca6: got my tickets for Florida...ah warmth
    Apr 8, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe:
Apr 8, 2016 6:29 AM - NFOsec: ok, XXL LCD all installed.
    Apr 8, 2016 6:30 AM - NFOsec: looks good.
Apr 8, 2016 6:33 AM - JeffTheMess: lucky you, enjoy your new and improved Robo
    Apr 8, 2016 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
Apr 8, 2016 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: ok time to head for Monroe Labs north :)
Apr 8, 2016 7:16 AM - danzca6: anyone know if having just the USB powering the Arduino if you should get a voltage reading on the stepper drivers? I thought I read somewhere that it only needed USB power, but mine show no voltage. I was trying to do a check without having the main power on.
Apr 8, 2016 7:29 AM - daniel871: I'm not sure that the 5v on the USB would be enough to get a good reading anyway if it was distributed through the board. Also, I'm pretty sure that the power from the USB only goes to the processor/memory and LCD.
Apr 8, 2016 7:33 AM - danzca6: ok thanks...I'll just fire it up and read off of the pots that way.
Apr 8, 2016 8:00 AM - Bill Monroe: that's correct.. USB power will not power the ramps
Apr 8, 2016 9:48 AM - toymaker: well u get a temp reading with no power to the robo
Apr 8, 2016 11:11 AM - TstarkEngineering: fyi, E3D is about to unveil some new stuff.
Apr 8, 2016 11:21 AM - danzca6: is it a new extruder called the Titan?
Apr 8, 2016 11:21 AM - daniel871: Well, this is odd, something has killed cell phone service for everyone at work.
Apr 8, 2016 11:21 AM - daniel871: Everyone has bars, but no calls can be placed.
    Apr 8, 2016 11:22 AM - danzca6: that's a cool trick
Apr 8, 2016 11:24 AM - TstarkEngineering: one of the things is the titan. its nothing special just a gear reduction extruder to where you could use a smaller stepper
Apr 8, 2016 11:24 AM - TstarkEngineering: I mean its cool but nothing to crazy
Apr 8, 2016 11:25 AM - danzca6: I wonder what the other 3 things are going to be
Apr 8, 2016 11:29 AM - TstarkEngineering: I think one is a cover for the thermistor
    Apr 8, 2016 11:29 AM - TstarkEngineering: the other 2 not sure
Apr 8, 2016 11:33 AM - danzca6: they have a pic as a tease of what they all are on twitter, but I can't make it all out
Apr 8, 2016 11:38 AM - BryZad: So I got a new LCD screen on the way hopefully that will stop the random stopping
    Apr 8, 2016 11:39 AM - daniel871: I would've suspected the SD card over the LCD first.
Apr 8, 2016 11:41 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya i would think it is the sd card too
Apr 8, 2016 11:42 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya I saw that picture too on twitter...I have no idea what the other things would be...it might be related to the bigbox itself
    Apr 8, 2016 12:12 PM - Bill Monroe: howdy
Apr 8, 2016 12:19 PM - toymaker: whats going on bill
Apr 8, 2016 12:19 PM - toymaker: just retrammed my bed to under .0025 allround
Apr 8, 2016 12:21 PM - toymaker: what a diff it makes... my robo gets moved around alot, car rides, kids, etc
Apr 8, 2016 12:27 PM - BryZad: I tryed printing with 3 separate SD card still happens
Apr 8, 2016 12:28 PM - BryZad: And I know it's not the ramps or adruion cause changed them both
Apr 8, 2016 12:35 PM - BryZad: I don't get a temp fault code or anything the LCD screen wiggs out with random symblos everywhere and just stops sometime in the print
    Apr 8, 2016 12:46 PM - Printed Solid: hello.
    Apr 8, 2016 12:46 PM - daniel871: Hey.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:15 PM - daniel871: Well, I'm being tempted by e3D again with this i3 kit they've just posted. http://e3d-online.com/Prusa-i3-Upgrade-Kit
Apr 8, 2016 1:16 PM - WheresWaldo: Nothing new since Marquis already leaked the info last week.
Apr 8, 2016 1:16 PM - WheresWaldo: All that witing for such disappointing news.
Apr 8, 2016 1:17 PM - WheresWaldo: On the extruder that is.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:17 PM - daniel871: What's the Robo roughly based on, Mendel 90, right?
    Apr 8, 2016 1:17 PM - WheresWaldo: yep
Apr 8, 2016 1:17 PM - daniel871: Wonder if they'll put together a kit for printers along those lines.
Apr 8, 2016 1:21 PM - WheresWaldo: http://e3d-online.com/Titan-Extruder bottom of page says more kits coming
Apr 8, 2016 1:21 PM - TstarkEngineering: Titan just got released FYI
Apr 8, 2016 1:21 PM - TstarkEngineering: beat me to it waldo
Apr 8, 2016 1:21 PM - WheresWaldo: At least it may give Bondtech a run for it's money
Apr 8, 2016 1:22 PM - WheresWaldo: Bondtech was always overpriced
    Apr 8, 2016 1:22 PM - daniel871: I'm actually thinking about getting the i3 kit for my i3.
Apr 8, 2016 1:24 PM - WheresWaldo: It looks from some renders that there is a mount that is spaced the same as Greg's Wade, So if their claim to using a smaller motor is true, it might just bolt on to a Robo.
Apr 8, 2016 1:25 PM - WheresWaldo: [IMG] look at the bottom
    Apr 8, 2016 1:27 PM - daniel871: Nema 17, so I don't know how much smaller it could be.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:27 PM - daniel871: Wait, that's just an option.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:27 PM - WheresWaldo: [IMG]
Apr 8, 2016 1:28 PM - WheresWaldo: Since the motor will sit sideways, it doesn't need to be smaller around, just shallower in depth.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:28 PM - WheresWaldo: Besides only accepts Nema 17
Apr 8, 2016 1:28 PM - TstarkEngineering: someone awhile back was saying you could run a nema 11 if i remember correctly. not sure if thats still true
Apr 8, 2016 1:30 PM - WheresWaldo: Nema 11 has different spacing for the mounting holes, so I don't think that would be true. Besides they only mention lower torque, not size per se.
Apr 8, 2016 1:30 PM - WheresWaldo: [IMG] Nema 17 comes in a lot of different lengths depending on torque requirements.
Apr 8, 2016 1:32 PM - WheresWaldo: On their Blog post, now up, they specifically address NEMA 17 only.

    Apr 8, 2016 1:33 PM - WheresWaldo: http://e3d-online.com/blog/titan
Apr 8, 2016 1:33 PM - daniel871: I asked them about that hole spacing on the Youtube video that showed up in my email.
Apr 8, 2016 1:34 PM - Printed Solid: we've got those titans if anyone wants to order in the US. Haven't built the page yet though.
Apr 8, 2016 1:34 PM - WheresWaldo: I assume you were under embargo until today?
Apr 8, 2016 1:35 PM - Printed Solid: they announced them at RRF a few weeks ago.
Apr 8, 2016 1:35 PM - Printed Solid: I received mine yesterday and saw you guys chatting about it which reminded me of it.
Apr 8, 2016 1:35 PM - WheresWaldo: And Marquis jumped the gun with his video last week
Apr 8, 2016 1:36 PM - daniel871: Can you check to see if the hole pattern on the Titan matches the hole spacing on the Robo carriage? It'd be great if it could be a drop-in replacement.
Apr 8, 2016 1:36 PM - Printed Solid: was he supposed to not tell anyone? They asked for confidentiality, but I think that once they announced it at Reprap Fest on the 16th, that was all gone.
Apr 8, 2016 1:36 PM - Printed Solid: I can. I think they have drawings published though.
Apr 8, 2016 1:37 PM - daniel871: He had an unboxing video but you didn't get to see that much if you just watched the video and didn't do freeze frames.
Apr 8, 2016 1:37 PM - WheresWaldo: Dan, the Prusa kit specifically mentions an optional 19 mm shaft length. The common NEMA 17 stepper with that length shaft would have about 18oz of torque. It is basically the smallest NEMA 17 you can get.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:38 PM - Printed Solid: It doesn't come with a mount.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:39 PM - Printed Solid:
    Apr 8, 2016 1:39 PM - Printed Solid:
Apr 8, 2016 1:39 PM - WheresWaldo: So it doesn't look like the picture posted above?
    Apr 8, 2016 1:39 PM - Printed Solid: http://e3d-online.com/image/data/Titan/Titan-overview-web-rotated.jpg
Apr 8, 2016 1:39 PM - Printed Solid: not sure why shoutbox won't show it.
Apr 8, 2016 1:39 PM - Printed Solid: That is what is in the box.
Apr 8, 2016 1:39 PM - TstarkEngineering: marcus' version was a different version and not the final one
Apr 8, 2016 1:40 PM - Printed Solid: I got the prototype too and it didn't have a mount.
Apr 8, 2016 1:40 PM - TstarkEngineering: if this is a bolt on for the robo, id order one right now
Apr 8, 2016 1:40 PM - WheresWaldo: Well, the blog post drawings are different that that picture
    Apr 8, 2016 1:40 PM - Printed Solid: I only got 5 of them.
Apr 8, 2016 1:41 PM - daniel871: The drawings show six holes on the bottom on little flanges sticking off either side.
Apr 8, 2016 1:41 PM - daniel871: But no actual spacings. Though it looks like they're a little too far off center for the hotend to drop down the center of the Robo carriage.
Apr 8, 2016 1:41 PM - Printed Solid: It also shows a stepper motor. The flange mount and stepper motor don't come in the kit.
Apr 8, 2016 1:42 PM - WheresWaldo: But the picture of the parts don't show a flange
    Apr 8, 2016 1:42 PM - Printed Solid: right.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:42 PM - daniel871: Assembled Kit purchase option though.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:42 PM - daniel871: Hang on.
Apr 8, 2016 1:42 PM - Printed Solid: that flange is a different piece.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:43 PM - Printed Solid: The i3 upgrade kit?
    Apr 8, 2016 1:43 PM - daniel871: That's specifically with the i3 kit.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:43 PM - Printed Solid: right
Apr 8, 2016 1:43 PM - WheresWaldo: No mention of the flange on their Wiki page, and no model from Joshua on Thingiverse
Apr 8, 2016 1:43 PM - daniel871: Is that flange one of their other parts that they've always had on the site or something? :p
Apr 8, 2016 1:44 PM - Printed Solid: I think the flange is just on whatever printer model file they happened to take the shots off of.
Apr 8, 2016 1:45 PM - WheresWaldo: They list mounting bracket for 3pds as an option on the ordering page
Apr 8, 2016 1:45 PM - Printed Solid: sure enough.
Apr 8, 2016 1:46 PM - Printed Solid: They never answer my questions, so I won't be any help on finding out what it is.
Apr 8, 2016 1:46 PM - Printed Solid: Odds are it is just a printed part though.
Apr 8, 2016 1:46 PM - WheresWaldo: If the Mounting flange allows mounting in place of a greg's Wade, a Robo will need that or at the very least a printable model of it.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:46 PM - Printed Solid: ya. I'll find a mount.
Apr 8, 2016 1:46 PM - Printed Solid: Has Mike been around? Maybe he already has one?
Apr 8, 2016 1:47 PM - Printed Solid: was marquis excited about it?
    Apr 8, 2016 1:47 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes
Apr 8, 2016 1:47 PM - WheresWaldo: But he took down the video about an hour after he posted it.
Apr 8, 2016 1:48 PM - WheresWaldo: Using it as a bowden setup for his robo, actually had two set up.
Apr 8, 2016 1:48 PM - Printed Solid: if there are 5 of you guys that want to commit to installing quickly to help get a mount figured out, I would be up for selling these 5 at cost plus shipping.
Apr 8, 2016 1:48 PM - Printed Solid: I know I won't have time to dig in until after I quit my day job and get through our grand opening.
Apr 8, 2016 1:49 PM - daniel871: Well, my Robo is constantly fucking up in the stock Wade body because I somehow got one with a hole intended for 3mm filament that I'm trying to get PTFE cut just right for to keep filament from buckling, so I'm interested.
Apr 8, 2016 1:49 PM - WheresWaldo: I would jump on that offer, but out of funds until my next Shapeways payout next Friday.
Apr 8, 2016 1:49 PM - daniel871: I can model something and use my i3 to print it.
Apr 8, 2016 1:50 PM - TstarkEngineering: printedsolid what would cost plus shipping entail
    Apr 8, 2016 1:50 PM - TstarkEngineering: intail? entail?
    Apr 8, 2016 1:50 PM - TstarkEngineering: be...
Apr 8, 2016 1:51 PM - TstarkEngineering: I know filastruder has some too
Apr 8, 2016 1:51 PM - WheresWaldo: Looks like somewhere around $65-70 retail with mount plus shipping. Is that about right Matt?
Apr 8, 2016 1:51 PM - daniel871: Probably something he's going to have to figure out once he gets 5 volunteers.
Apr 8, 2016 1:52 PM - WheresWaldo: Filastruder makes no mention of a mounting flange on their page.
Apr 8, 2016 1:52 PM - Printed Solid: I need to double check my order and whatever the paypal conversion was.
Apr 8, 2016 1:53 PM - Printed Solid: Somewhere under the $65 that filastruder is charging. That will be my list.
Apr 8, 2016 1:53 PM - daniel871: I'd definitely have to have one in hand before I started designing though, physically locate it on the carriage and see which way I'd orient it relative to axis travel, etc.
Apr 8, 2016 1:53 PM - TstarkEngineering: well id be in lmk
Apr 8, 2016 1:55 PM - daniel871: All of this is assuming MK or Marquis don't show up later posting a designed mount.
Apr 8, 2016 1:55 PM - Printed Solid: Looks like $55. DM me that you're interested and I'll get paypals out later.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:55 PM - daniel871: Message already sent. :)
Apr 8, 2016 1:55 PM - WheresWaldo: If you don't have 5 volunteers by next Friday, I will remind you then.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:55 PM - TstarkEngineering: ill send a message now
Apr 8, 2016 1:55 PM - Printed Solid: I'm guessing that Mike has had one since at least RRF. They sent me mine about a week before that.
Apr 8, 2016 1:55 PM - daniel871: And the GTFO message at work just went out, so I'll talk to you guys later.
Apr 8, 2016 1:55 PM - Printed Solid: Without any information. lol.
Apr 8, 2016 1:56 PM - Printed Solid: had no idea why they were sending it to me.
    Apr 8, 2016 1:56 PM - WheresWaldo: Seeya Dan
Apr 8, 2016 1:56 PM - Printed Solid: yup. I should get going as well. Will let people know later.
Apr 8, 2016 1:56 PM - TstarkEngineering: Im sure Mike has one, but hes been super busy with his new job
Apr 8, 2016 1:56 PM - TstarkEngineering: see ya. thank you
Apr 8, 2016 1:58 PM - WheresWaldo: I think I'll go play a bit of Quantum Break before the wife get's home, I'm going too.
Apr 8, 2016 1:58 PM - BryZad: Hey print how are you ? Thanks for responding to me email the other day about the LCD
    Apr 8, 2016 2:01 PM - toymaker: http://www.3ders.org/articles/20160...-behind-his-3d-printed-captain-hook-hook.html
Apr 8, 2016 2:50 PM - danzca6: MK has had a Titan before the MRRF. Not sure what machine he was using it on.
Apr 8, 2016 2:52 PM - danzca6: man that i3 upgrade looks great...that with the monoprice would make a great pair
Apr 8, 2016 2:54 PM - danzca6: I wonder how much the titan with a smaller Nema 17 would reduce the weight of the x carriage?
    Apr 8, 2016 3:13 PM - danzca6: does the titan require the E3D V6?
Apr 8, 2016 3:36 PM - daniel871: It looks like it was designed with that in mind.
Apr 8, 2016 3:42 PM - daniel871: Someone in the i3 Facebook group pointed this out in response to the Titan kit. https://flexionextruder.com
Apr 8, 2016 4:09 PM - WheresWaldo: I like the self cleaning hobbed bolt. It is a 1:1 direct drive, so it would require a bigger motor vs a geared down extruder.
Apr 8, 2016 4:42 PM - toymaker: u got me think, i might try to run a nema 23 with the bondtech gearing.. so i can get rid of the planetary gear ( less backlass)...?
Apr 8, 2016 5:02 PM - danzca6: they also announced that the bigbox will get an option for an even bigger build volume
    Apr 8, 2016 5:03 PM - danzca6: https://twitter.com/E3DOnline/status/718539170449334272
    Apr 8, 2016 5:11 PM - danzca6: WW....I read that it is a 3:1 gear reduction extruder not a 1:1
Apr 8, 2016 7:10 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes Titan is 3:1, but flexion that the other Dan linked to is 1:1
    Apr 8, 2016 7:14 PM - danzca6: Ohhhh... Gotcha

Apr 9, 2016 5:37 AM - danzca6: Snow again this morning... Waiting for warmth
Apr 9, 2016 5:39 AM - danzca6: I'm wondering if I could redesign the Titan case to take the hex? Or just upgrade to the v6 :)
Apr 9, 2016 5:41 AM - danzca6: I know Mike will be busy this weekend, but I bet he is already working on a mount plate for his v2 carriage and the Titan. If not, I think I have a couple of ideas. Cool new toys are always fun
Apr 9, 2016 5:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, the hex only has 4.2 mm groove so it would take a redesign of the back end to make it work, or a bunch of sanding to trim it down. The E3D's groove is 6 mm.
Apr 9, 2016 6:02 AM - WheresWaldo: My concern is two-fold. If you leave the motor in the same orientation of the current Robo, it will stick out further than the current setup. You will probably need to replace it with a lower torque version (shorter). Second, it looks like it mounts the hotend higher than the current setup so it's not just the mount but the fan holders that need reworking on top of designing a mount.
Apr 9, 2016 6:09 AM - danzca6: How low of torque do you think it would take for a minimum
Apr 9, 2016 6:10 AM - danzca6: I was thinking of rotating the motor 90 degrees to be out front
Apr 9, 2016 6:12 AM - danzca6: The groove was the main difference I saw between the 2. I bet it can be done
Apr 9, 2016 6:13 AM - danzca6: The height would be the next challenge, but once I get it in my hands it will help visualise what options make sense
Apr 9, 2016 6:15 AM - WheresWaldo: 1. Please please please move the motor to the back if possible. It would make loading filament so much easier.
Apr 9, 2016 6:17 AM - WheresWaldo: 2. The optional motor E3D has posted on their sale page lists a shaft length of 19 mm. They really don't show a picture from the side. A stepper with a 20 mm length shaft (common) only has about 18 oz. of torque, but I would send them an email to double check.
Apr 9, 2016 6:19 AM - WheresWaldo: I ask for back mount as with the current setup or the motor in front you basically have to load and look from the top of the Robo, especially hard if you keep the cover on. Motor on the back and you could load it looking in from the front with little or no trouble.
    Apr 9, 2016 6:21 AM - danzca6: True
    Apr 9, 2016 6:21 AM - danzca6: I was just concerned about the belt
Apr 9, 2016 6:22 AM - danzca6: Once I get one in hand I will know for sure.
Apr 9, 2016 6:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I already converted their bracket STL to a solid 3D object, so I could take measurements
Apr 9, 2016 6:23 AM - danzca6: Having the motor in back would make it easy easier since the Titan has a clear face. If rather are that on front. A shorter motor would help.
Apr 9, 2016 6:24 AM - danzca6: I'm sitting at the barber. So you are ahead of me this morning. :)
    Apr 9, 2016 6:25 AM - danzca6: Do you have a v6?
Apr 9, 2016 6:26 AM - danzca6: Wondering if I should order it with the stuff thermistor or the pt100.
Apr 9, 2016 6:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Two actually and a clone that was converted.
Apr 9, 2016 6:28 AM - WheresWaldo: Here is a link to the STEP file I converted, it is low resolution since the original STL was low res. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?res...354&authkey=!AAvXdg7bVgZX5tk&ithint=file,step
    Apr 9, 2016 6:29 AM - danzca6: Thanks
Apr 9, 2016 6:31 AM - WheresWaldo: It's a starting point. The bracket is 38 mm deep where the stepper mounts, and the pics online in their Wiki shows it sticking out the back side.
Apr 9, 2016 6:32 AM - WheresWaldo: If that's true, the stepper they used in their dimensional drawings is just a normal 50+ oz torque model. They claim you can use a lower torque motor in their BLOG entry, I would want to know just how much lower you could go and still push filament with significant force.
Apr 9, 2016 6:33 AM - WheresWaldo: As that is the whole point of geared extruders, you should be able to use smaller cheaper steppers.
Apr 9, 2016 6:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Here is an exact quote "Furthermore, because of the gearing you can get away with surprisingly small NEMA17 motors, significantly cutting weight."
Apr 9, 2016 6:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I sent them an email asking this exact question. Waiting on their response.
Apr 9, 2016 7:08 AM - danzca6: Just got back...that's great. I am surprised they didn't just come out with the minimum spec for that during release.
Apr 9, 2016 7:10 AM - WheresWaldo: I asked just how small they tested with.
Apr 9, 2016 7:12 AM - danzca6: what is the stock robo torque rated at
    Apr 9, 2016 7:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Probably 56 oz/in
Apr 9, 2016 7:18 AM - WheresWaldo: I asked if it could go as low as 18 oz/in, that would allow for a 42x42x20mm stepper.
    Apr 9, 2016 7:20 AM - danzca6: that would be nice
Apr 9, 2016 7:20 AM - danzca6: a bit of weight off of the carriage as well
    Apr 9, 2016 7:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Could be 64 oz/in. 56/64 is about 42x42x40mm
    Apr 9, 2016 7:21 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, 300+ grams down to around 140g.
Apr 9, 2016 7:22 AM - danzca6: and the diff of the gregs vs titan
Apr 9, 2016 7:22 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah that too.
Apr 9, 2016 7:23 AM - danzca6: and this would gain some height as well since the big gear will be gone
    Apr 9, 2016 7:23 AM - danzca6: man I can't wait to get it
Apr 9, 2016 7:23 AM - WheresWaldo: It could make direct drive almost as fast and stable as bowden, without all the bowden issues.
Apr 9, 2016 7:24 AM - danzca6: that is what I was thinking as well
Apr 9, 2016 7:24 AM - danzca6: sure make things like flex filament a lot easier it sounds like
Apr 9, 2016 7:24 AM - WheresWaldo: You should be able to increase acceleration settings too, without all the artifacts that Robo already has if you still have the default Marlin values.
Apr 9, 2016 7:26 AM - WheresWaldo: If Matt has any left next Friday I will order one and play with it also. Wife would be upset if I spent more money on the Robo, but I could borrow some from my monthly Shapeways payout and she wouldn't know.
    Apr 9, 2016 7:27 AM - danzca6: haha
Apr 9, 2016 7:27 AM - danzca6: his offer on these is pretty great
    Apr 9, 2016 7:27 AM - danzca6: of course, now I am also buying the v6
Apr 9, 2016 7:28 AM - danzca6: when MK mentioned something new coming and about what the price point would be a month ago I started to save some pennies
Apr 9, 2016 7:28 AM - WheresWaldo: That's what it sounded like. Once I get the answer from E3D I will probably buy a smaller stepper and the extruder. Don't need the v6.
Apr 9, 2016 7:29 AM - danzca6: the stepper is under $10...so that is pretty cheap
    Apr 9, 2016 7:29 AM - danzca6: even the 25.5 oz is like $9 and only add 5mm and 40g over the 18
Apr 9, 2016 7:30 AM - WheresWaldo: I figured it was an extruder, but wanted to see it before I socked away any monies. Besides, I am saving to replace this PC, it's a 5 y.o. second gen Core i7. Need to update to a 6th gen core i7 so it will last me another 5 years.
Apr 9, 2016 7:31 AM - danzca6: yeah I saw marcus's video a couple weeks ago that showed the titan in a bag and then the one he leaked showing the full assembly and thought it would be worth it
Apr 9, 2016 7:32 AM - WheresWaldo: I managed to see it also before he pulled it.
Apr 9, 2016 7:32 AM - danzca6: I wonder when he will make the second video public again
    Apr 9, 2016 7:32 AM - danzca6: yeah, oops
Apr 9, 2016 7:33 AM - danzca6: I am surprised he didn't check with them first since he was concerned back when he showed it in the bag. he pulled that for a bit because he needed to double check as well. oh well
Apr 9, 2016 7:34 AM - danzca6: did you see they also announced the BB build volume can be increased now as well? Haven't seen the details, but the tweeted that last night
    Apr 9, 2016 7:35 AM - danzca6: that thing is huge already
Apr 9, 2016 7:39 AM - WheresWaldo: I really don't follow their twitter feed. What did they do, make it taller?
Apr 9, 2016 7:41 AM - danzca6: not sure..I just watched it yesterday waiting for the official announcement for the titan...they played that out way too long :)
Apr 9, 2016 7:51 AM - AxisLab: What has me glued to them today is they said they had 4 things to announce. yesterday they announced 2, well 2.5 I guess. I'm dying to know what the OTHER 2 are lol.
Apr 9, 2016 7:52 AM - danzca6: do you think that will be today or next week?
Apr 9, 2016 7:54 AM - AxisLab: Your guess is as good as mine. https://twitter.com/E3DOnline/status/718558963747418112
Apr 9, 2016 7:55 AM - danzca6: so are you getting the titan?
Apr 9, 2016 7:58 AM - danzca6: you could even get the i3 upgrade kit for your wanhao
Apr 9, 2016 7:58 AM - AxisLab: Yeah, for sure. I was pissed when ultimaker announced the $400 upgrade kit, as one of my machines is 2500 hours tired. The e3d video hints a UM2 mount coming. I will probably go that route.
Apr 9, 2016 7:58 AM - AxisLab: I sold my wanhao. used the money to pre order the i3plus
Apr 9, 2016 7:59 AM - AxisLab: if it ever comes out that is.
    Apr 9, 2016 7:59 AM - danzca6: haha
Apr 9, 2016 8:00 AM - danzca6: did you mention that you are a distributor of the wanhao now
Apr 9, 2016 8:01 AM - AxisLab: yeah, have been for a while. I just do local sales, nothing online or anything.
    Apr 9, 2016 8:02 AM - danzca6: well...maybe I will do a road trip if I ever decide to get one
Apr 9, 2016 8:03 AM - AxisLab: Where are you from?
Apr 9, 2016 8:03 AM - danzca6: the other side of the lake
    Apr 9, 2016 8:03 AM - danzca6: about 4 hours by car, but if I had a boat
Apr 9, 2016 8:07 AM - AxisLab: I'm slowly pulling away from machine sales, there's not really much money in re-sell, but everyone who buys a machine ends up being like a full time job with constant questions, emails and phone calls lol. I'm super glad to help, and I put customer service before anything, but man it doesn't pay the bills haha
Apr 9, 2016 8:08 AM - AxisLab: Not at a small scale at least.
Apr 9, 2016 8:09 AM - danzca6: I can see that would be a negative to that side of the business
Apr 9, 2016 8:16 AM - AxisLab: It's a lot easier to just teach classes, and sell filament. But on the other hand, on a small scale it's nice to stock a machine or two for the really excited customers that don't want to wait for shipping.
Apr 9, 2016 8:18 AM - danzca6: Do you do any online sales?
    Apr 9, 2016 8:18 AM - danzca6: for filament
Apr 9, 2016 8:19 AM - AxisLab: Nope, just local.
    Apr 9, 2016 8:19 AM - PeterkSharma: moring
    Apr 9, 2016 8:19 AM - danzca6: morning Peter
Apr 9, 2016 8:20 AM - danzca6: I imagine the shipping costs would be hard to compete with
Apr 9, 2016 8:21 AM - PeterkSharma: I think you just need to make a website or a place where each customer can reference the information
    Apr 9, 2016 8:22 AM - danzca6: for printer support?
Apr 9, 2016 8:22 AM - AxisLab: Oh for sure. Without growing to a large scale, like PS, shipping would nickle and dime to death.
Apr 9, 2016 8:22 AM - PeterkSharma: Something standardized that will answer 90% of the questions for each person. Maybe Youtube Channels, and 3d printing websites/forums.
Apr 9, 2016 8:23 AM - PeterkSharma: I think im going to swap to dual extruders today
Apr 9, 2016 8:23 AM - danzca6: I wish I lived closer to PS for his grand opening may 15th
Apr 9, 2016 8:23 AM - danzca6: why do you want to go dual
Apr 9, 2016 8:23 AM - AxisLab: Good point Peter. I have a similar list that I give people that take a class, it wouldn't be a bad idea to link to it.
Apr 9, 2016 8:24 AM - PeterkSharma: Then you only have to answer the tricky questions. :p
Apr 9, 2016 8:24 AM - AxisLab: It's hard to predict the "human element though.
    Apr 9, 2016 8:24 AM - PeterkSharma: @Dan, Why not>
Apr 9, 2016 8:25 AM - AxisLab: like, "hey I tried out some weed wacker line, and now my printer is making funny noises" haha.

Apr 9, 2016 8:26 AM - AxisLab: head to keyboard
    Apr 9, 2016 8:26 AM - danzca6: just a whole new level of complication...with duals
Apr 9, 2016 8:26 AM - PeterkSharma: Absolutely, but it will help with a lot of general questions. I know if you are selling Robo's. You can find an answer to about ever question there is. I would print something out that has terms. I find thats where people struggle. They see terms like bowden or greg wade and have no idea what they mean. IMO
Apr 9, 2016 8:27 AM - PeterkSharma: Weed wacker line is fine to print with as long as you can get the print head hot enough. Its usually a Nylon temp.
Apr 9, 2016 8:28 AM - PeterkSharma: Ya, I just want to try it. I can alway switch back
Apr 9, 2016 8:29 AM - AxisLab: OH I do. Mostly I have been referring people to robo's already. I give them all the links and info, I just don't have it in one neat little package. It's a good idea. save time at least.
    Apr 9, 2016 8:29 AM - danzca6: I respect that...never know until you try
Apr 9, 2016 8:30 AM - PeterkSharma: Yeah, I have some things I want to try dual extruding as well.
Apr 9, 2016 8:30 AM - PeterkSharma: like add Rubber feet to things :)
Apr 9, 2016 8:35 AM - danzca6: are you going to do a bowden setup for the duals?
Apr 9, 2016 8:37 AM - PeterkSharma: Yup! as long as I have enough PTFE
Apr 9, 2016 8:41 AM - danzca6: flex and bowden can be tricky I hear, but I do like the idea of being able to integrate flex with PLA on a single print
Apr 9, 2016 8:42 AM - danzca6: of course gluing the flex feet would work as well ;) not as cool though
Apr 9, 2016 9:00 AM - danzca6: has anyone ran a separate ground wire for your LCD panel?
    Apr 9, 2016 9:11 AM - toymaker: hello world
    Apr 9, 2016 9:15 AM - danzca6: what's new toy
Apr 9, 2016 9:21 AM - toymaker: thinking how im gonna clean some e3d nozzle that sem to be clogged
Apr 9, 2016 9:22 AM - toymaker: i had a mishap where i think some ptfe shavings made its way into the nozzle
Apr 9, 2016 9:24 AM - danzca6: are you able to extract at all with it?
Apr 9, 2016 9:26 AM - toymaker: i have spare nozzles, i think my problem was not putting thermal grease on the threading for my v6
Apr 9, 2016 9:26 AM - danzca6: would some cleaning filament help with getting those bits flushed
Apr 9, 2016 9:26 AM - toymaker: or switching from nylon 910 back to pla
    Apr 9, 2016 9:27 AM - toymaker: cleaning filament...
Apr 9, 2016 9:27 AM - toymaker: have u tried cleaning filament before?
    Apr 9, 2016 9:27 AM - danzca6: yep...https://printedsolid.com/collections/accessories-and-upgrades/products/extruder-cleaning-filament
    Apr 9, 2016 9:28 AM - danzca6: I run some through every so often
Apr 9, 2016 9:29 AM - danzca6: especially if I go to a white filament from a black to keep it from putting specs into my print
    Apr 9, 2016 9:29 AM - toymaker: i want to print something at .06mm
Apr 9, 2016 9:30 AM - danzca6: I just use PLA, but I would imagine it would help when switching types as well
Apr 9, 2016 9:31 AM - toymaker: the 910 taulman stuff is awesome
Apr 9, 2016 9:31 AM - toymaker: i pretty much use either pla or the 910
    Apr 9, 2016 9:31 AM - danzca6: I've heard good things about it
Apr 9, 2016 9:32 AM - danzca6: I have a lot of PLA to chew through for now, but want to try it the next time I purchase
Apr 9, 2016 9:32 AM - toymaker: im sitting on about 13kg of pla
    Apr 9, 2016 9:32 AM - danzca6: yikes
    Apr 9, 2016 9:33 AM - danzca6: you are set for awhile
Apr 9, 2016 9:33 AM - toymaker: i use alot of filament in the 3d printed class i teach
    Apr 9, 2016 9:33 AM - toymaker: about 2k a week
    Apr 9, 2016 9:34 AM - toymaker: kg
Apr 9, 2016 9:34 AM - danzca6: do you teach at a HS or College?
    Apr 9, 2016 9:34 AM - toymaker: 3rd - 7th grade
    Apr 9, 2016 9:35 AM - danzca6: oh wow...that is even better
Apr 9, 2016 9:36 AM - danzca6: I wish I could get our schools around here to introduce classes like that at that age
Apr 9, 2016 9:36 AM - toymaker: its amazing how clueless some teachers are... they need to be teachig these kids python in elementry lol
Apr 9, 2016 9:37 AM - toymaker: i dont think they realize how much is gonan change in the next 10-20 years
Apr 9, 2016 9:37 AM - danzca6: public school budgets in IL are horrible...so anything extra is cut
Apr 9, 2016 9:37 AM - danzca6: I agree that the change is coming fast
Apr 9, 2016 9:38 AM - toymaker: u think business is gonna pay 15$ for unskilled labor
    Apr 9, 2016 9:45 AM - danzca6: I can put frozen frys in a fryer at McD's in Cal/NY soon for $15/hr

    Apr 9, 2016 11:36 AM - danzca6: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1310161 ... next?
Apr 9, 2016 11:36 AM - jbigler1986: Kind of want to try the tornado extruder
Apr 9, 2016 11:39 AM - danzca6: the titan works great with that from what they are saying
    Apr 9, 2016 11:39 AM - danzca6: oh, tornado...I thought you said volcano...nevermind me
Apr 9, 2016 2:22 PM - elmoret: I'm late to the Titan chat, but a writeup/guide/parts are already complete for the Robo3D.
Apr 9, 2016 2:23 PM - elmoret: just didn't want folks to spend time reinventing the wheel
Apr 9, 2016 2:27 PM - elmoret: E3D is in the process of reformatting it for their wiki
Apr 9, 2016 2:36 PM - danzca6: My money is on MK doing the design since he is the only one I know that has had his hands on it from this forum
Apr 9, 2016 2:37 PM - danzca6: If so, I bet he will have an addition to his V2 carriage soon as well
    Apr 9, 2016 3:51 PM - JasonSolves: anyone around?
Apr 9, 2016 4:23 PM - JasonSolves: If anyone shows up, I guess I am having an offset issue
    Apr 9, 2016 4:26 PM - bamhm182: What's your issue?
Apr 9, 2016 4:27 PM - JasonSolves: no matter what I set it too, it is too low
Apr 9, 2016 4:27 PM - JasonSolves: and no room for extursion
Apr 9, 2016 4:29 PM - JasonSolves: and it is not like this is the first print
    Apr 9, 2016 4:29 PM - JasonSolves: I printed a bunch
Apr 9, 2016 4:30 PM - JasonSolves: woohoo, nevermind now it is too high
Apr 9, 2016 4:31 PM - JasonSolves: FYI the auto level is super anoying when trying to find the offset
Apr 9, 2016 4:35 PM - JasonSolves: and #2 S3D is super annoying when trying to watch the comm log
    Apr 9, 2016 5:37 PM - Bill Monroe: hello
Apr 9, 2016 5:50 PM - jbigler1986: I and an issue for a while where the robo just started ignoring offsets. I would change it by a lot and it just kept saying fuck you and not changing. Mike Glass and a few others had the issue as well
Apr 9, 2016 5:54 PM - Bill Monroe: which slicer?
    Apr 9, 2016 5:55 PM - jbigler1986: I tried all slicers. I don't remember what ended up fixing it
Apr 9, 2016 5:55 PM - Bill Monroe: i have a vague memory of this happeneing to me awhile back
Apr 9, 2016 5:56 PM - Bill Monroe: it seems the issue was the slicer trying to use a gcode offset command in post that marlin didnt grok
Apr 9, 2016 5:56 PM - Bill Monroe: i do remember editing the slicer post to make it go away..
Apr 9, 2016 5:56 PM - Bill Monroe: in the end the slicer merely offset all the coords by whatever amount it was told
Apr 9, 2016 5:57 PM - Bill Monroe: so the offset was handled by the slicer.. not marlin
Apr 9, 2016 5:58 PM - Bill Monroe: i could be wrong though, the memory is fuzzy and i dont run marlin anymore
Apr 9, 2016 6:00 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I can't recall the fix either. It's been like 8 months since that was fixed.
    Apr 9, 2016 6:06 PM - Bill Monroe: How's the kids?
Apr 9, 2016 6:11 PM - jbigler1986: Amazing. Have to go home tomorrow but they don't want to.
Apr 9, 2016 6:12 PM - Bill Monroe: the day will come when they just wont go...
Apr 9, 2016 6:15 PM - jbigler1986: Then the cops will be called. Lol
Apr 9, 2016 6:16 PM - jbigler1986: Guardian came yesterday and said she is filing a recommendation to have the kids 100 percent removed from the protective order because there is absolutely 0 reason for them to be on it
Apr 9, 2016 6:17 PM - jbigler1986: Also my attorney filed Thursday to have the protective order completely dropped. Ha
Apr 9, 2016 6:27 PM - jbigler1986: How are things in the Mr Monroe household
Apr 9, 2016 7:02 PM - Matt13jones: I'm wondering if someone in here could give me some help... I'm totally new at 3d printing and I'm trying to get my R1 Plus rolling again. It seems like the Z Axis isn't homing properly bc everytime I go to print, it's dragging along the bed and not extruding anything. Any tips?
Apr 9, 2016 7:59 PM - danzca6: Is it doing the auto bed leveling touch points in 9 places correctly?
Apr 9, 2016 8:00 PM - danzca6: Can it extrude if you just preheat and manually tell it to extrude while the nozzle is in the air?
Apr 9, 2016 8:21 PM - TstarkEngineering: anyone have any ideas how to reduce the screeching of the z-axis
    Apr 9, 2016 8:22 PM - danzca6: 3 in 1 oil
Apr 9, 2016 8:22 PM - TstarkEngineering: on the rods themselfs? or is it the bushing...not exactly sure where its at
Apr 9, 2016 8:23 PM - danzca6: I wipe the rods down with a light bit of oil, but I will put a couple drops on the threaded rod and run her up and down a couple times
    Apr 9, 2016 8:24 PM - danzca6: should clear up that noise
Apr 9, 2016 8:24 PM - danzca6: I will wipe the X and Y smooth rods as well on occasion
    Apr 9, 2016 8:24 PM - TstarkEngineering: ok thanks
    Apr 9, 2016 8:24 PM - danzca6: np

Apr 9, 2016 8:36 PM - Matt13jones: it seems to be doing everything correctly...no difference from the successful prints i've had. Then, it gets very close to the bed especially on one side

Apr 10, 2016 5:20 PM - PeterkSharma: not to bad
    Apr 10, 2016 5:20 PM - PeterkSharma: youself
Apr 10, 2016 5:21 PM - Bill Monroe: pretty ok.. just winding down the weekend
    Apr 10, 2016 5:30 PM - JeffTheMess: Howdy
    Apr 10, 2016 5:32 PM - Bill Monroe: Jeff
Apr 10, 2016 5:33 PM - JeffTheMess: My diseased printer error...Printer stopped due to errors. Fix the error and use M999 to restart. (Temperature is reset. Set it after restarting)
Apr 10, 2016 5:33 PM - JeffTheMess: Hows it going
    Apr 10, 2016 5:34 PM - Bill Monroe: you and your LCD-less printer :)
Apr 10, 2016 5:34 PM - Bill Monroe: it's OK.. just got back from taking 2.0 to the airport
Apr 10, 2016 5:34 PM - JeffTheMess: No filament no problem put in filament i get problems
    Apr 10, 2016 5:35 PM - JeffTheMess: She travelling
Apr 10, 2016 5:35 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. Japan.. car show
Apr 10, 2016 5:36 PM - JeffTheMess: Oh wow pretty cool
Apr 10, 2016 5:36 PM - Bill Monroe: goooood money
    Apr 10, 2016 5:36 PM - JeffTheMess: I bet
Apr 10, 2016 5:36 PM - Bill Monroe: her sister is working with her this time so.. it's afamily vacation too
Apr 10, 2016 5:37 PM - JeffTheMess: Shes been there before?
Apr 10, 2016 5:37 PM - Bill Monroe: not to this one.. car shows has been how she made a living..
Apr 10, 2016 5:38 PM - Bill Monroe: her sister is a free spirit so she's only done it off and on..
    Apr 10, 2016 5:40 PM - bamhm182: Evening, guys.
Apr 10, 2016 5:40 PM - JeffTheMess: So bill you think filament can cause my problem?
    Apr 10, 2016 5:40 PM - Bill Monroe: bam
Apr 10, 2016 5:40 PM - bamhm182: Have y'all ever had any luck with PID autotune?
    Apr 10, 2016 5:40 PM - JeffTheMess: Hey bam
Apr 10, 2016 5:40 PM - bamhm182: Every time I try it, it gives me a drastically different number for everything
Apr 10, 2016 5:40 PM - Bill Monroe: that's the nature of auto pid readings on Marlin
Apr 10, 2016 5:41 PM - JeffTheMess: Ive done it....i always got different numbers
Apr 10, 2016 5:41 PM - bamhm182: I feel like there has got to be a better way to dial in your PID
Apr 10, 2016 5:42 PM - Bill Monroe: jeff.. I dunno... i guess that points to either the load put on by the extruder, of heat sinking of the how section from the plastic... I spose some interference of the filament hitting how section wiring maybe?
Apr 10, 2016 5:42 PM - Bill Monroe: dont sweat the PID..
Apr 10, 2016 5:43 PM - JeffTheMess: Yeah...ive read that the a short circuit could cause it
    Apr 10, 2016 5:43 PM - Bill Monroe: i can believe that
Apr 10, 2016 5:44 PM - JeffTheMess: Im using white hatchbox never again
Apr 10, 2016 5:44 PM - Bill Monroe: white is tough with any brand
Apr 10, 2016 5:45 PM - Bill Monroe: i had the best white luck with XT of all things :)
Apr 10, 2016 5:46 PM - JeffTheMess: Meh it was free so no biggie :)
    Apr 10, 2016 5:47 PM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
Apr 10, 2016 5:47 PM - bamhm182: Only reason I was sweating the PID is because it always seems to get to 10 degrees under the target temp and have a hell of a time deciding to get to it and I can't figure out why
Apr 10, 2016 5:47 PM - bamhm182: Even when I have the fans unplugged, it does it
Apr 10, 2016 5:47 PM - MChrisP1: I use Hatchbox PLA consistently without any issues at all...my favorite PLA so far...
    Apr 10, 2016 5:48 PM - bamhm182: +1 for hatchbox here too
Apr 10, 2016 5:48 PM - Bill Monroe: dont tell me.. not using the thermistor huh?
Apr 10, 2016 5:48 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. hatchbox blue has always printed like heaven for me.. and it's a nice cobalt blue
Apr 10, 2016 5:49 PM - Bill Monroe: black is good too
Apr 10, 2016 5:49 PM - bamhm182: What do you mean not using the thermistor?
Apr 10, 2016 5:49 PM - JeffTheMess: Hatchbox silver is my cup of tea
Apr 10, 2016 5:49 PM - MChrisP1: LOL im printing that HB blue right now Bill, love how it looks...
Apr 10, 2016 5:50 PM - Bill Monroe: there ya go :) cheap too
Apr 10, 2016 5:50 PM - MChrisP1: Seem sto like to print at 197/198 the best for me so far... Yeah cant beat it on Amazon Prime at $22/kg and delivered in 2 days for free!
Apr 10, 2016 5:51 PM - Bill Monroe: i buy two and get them same day :)
Apr 10, 2016 5:51 PM - JeffTheMess: Bam if you have a target temp and it goes 10 under set it for 10 higher your target
Apr 10, 2016 5:51 PM - Bill Monroe: just found out my Joshua Tree place will be getting same day service soon.. they're building a DC not far away
    Apr 10, 2016 5:52 PM - JeffTheMess: Lucky you
Apr 10, 2016 5:55 PM - JeffTheMess: Whats everyone printing
Apr 10, 2016 5:56 PM - bamhm182: I just mean it can be difficult getting a print started. Sometimes I can trick it by setting it to 230, then when it gets to 220, I can set it back to 220
    Apr 10, 2016 5:56 PM - bamhm182: It's just a bit of a hassle
Apr 10, 2016 5:56 PM - bamhm182: I'm currently printing off a going away present for my squadron, or trying to anyway. These things always cause problems. No idea why.
Apr 10, 2016 5:56 PM - Bill Monroe: last thing i printed was a housing for my latest coyote deterrent
    Apr 10, 2016 5:57 PM - bamhm182: How about you?
Apr 10, 2016 5:59 PM - JeffTheMess: My printer has a temp disease i cant fix
    Apr 10, 2016 5:59 PM - bamhm182: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:839620
Apr 10, 2016 6:00 PM - bamhm182: Stumbled across that fan the other day. Mixed it together with Novice Expert's fan today and printed it out
Apr 10, 2016 6:00 PM - bamhm182: I like it, but I made the walls too thin and it broke, so I'm going to have to fix that and reprint it
Apr 10, 2016 6:01 PM - JeffTheMess: What size fan
Apr 10, 2016 6:01 PM - bamhm182: I'm about to get in two bondtechs tomorrow, so I should really be printing things for that.
    Apr 10, 2016 6:01 PM - bamhm182: 40mm
    Apr 10, 2016 6:02 PM - JeffTheMess: Nice
    Apr 10, 2016 6:05 PM - bamhm182: I'll upload the stl once I get it nice
    Apr 10, 2016 6:10 PM - JeffTheMess: Wait...you got 2 bondtechs?
    Apr 10, 2016 6:10 PM - JeffTheMess: Dual?
Apr 10, 2016 6:22 PM - MChrisP1: I am printing up a 'bat signal' but with teh WVU logo in it for a coworker and his son...
Apr 10, 2016 6:22 PM - MChrisP1: Using teh HB blue on this print... Ealier today I printed my first prints with Taulman 910, that stuff is awesome!
Apr 10, 2016 6:27 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, I printed 2 hercustruders. They both work great with my hex, but the side closest to me always clogs with just the strength of the hercustruder behind it. I can get it to print well if I'm constantly helping it along, so I figured why not just buy 2 bondtechs
Apr 10, 2016 6:28 PM - bamhm182: I've definitely heard good things about Taulman 910. I'll have to add it to my list of things to check out

Apr 11, 2016 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Apr 11, 2016 6:33 AM - danzca6: Way to go Aaron (AxisLab) ...
    Apr 11, 2016 6:44 AM - JeffTheMess: awesome
Apr 11, 2016 6:49 AM - danzca6: Yeah, he has really been doing some fine work over there.
Apr 11, 2016 6:49 AM - danzca6: how are things going Jeff? Have a good weekend?
    Apr 11, 2016 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess: my robo is infected with a temp disease I can't get rid of , sooo...bad :)
Apr 11, 2016 6:55 AM - JeffTheMess: how about you
    Apr 11, 2016 6:56 AM - danzca6: robo has a fever?
Apr 11, 2016 6:57 AM - danzca6: I'm glad to be back at work. Have to start earning money to pay for my impulsive behavior this weekend
Apr 11, 2016 6:58 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, I have to order my normal filament color to see if that works...never again will I buy white
Apr 11, 2016 6:58 AM - JeffTheMess: always good to impulse buy
Apr 11, 2016 7:03 AM - danzca6: yeah, ordered the Titan extruder...of course then I needed the V6 to go with it...stud thermistor...and my LCD is flaking out...so bought a new XXL as well
    Apr 11, 2016 7:05 AM - JeffTheMess: lucky you
    Apr 11, 2016 7:07 AM - danzca6: i guess
Apr 11, 2016 7:07 AM - danzca6: so your temp issue, what is it doing? dropping temp during prints?
Apr 11, 2016 7:10 AM - JeffTheMess: I get a temp error M999 most of the time with filament in, but when I take it out it works, dont ask me how but my filament may be the cause
Apr 11, 2016 7:10 AM - danzca6: is that white all you have on hand
    Apr 11, 2016 7:11 AM - danzca6: and I take it you did a PID tune?
Apr 11, 2016 7:11 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah its all I have right now, yeah I tuned the pid too
    Apr 11, 2016 7:12 AM - danzca6: how frustrating that must be
Apr 11, 2016 7:12 AM - danzca6: if it is the filament, I would be very surprised
Apr 11, 2016 7:13 AM - danzca6: does it fail on short and long jobs
Apr 11, 2016 7:13 AM - JeffTheMess: I have makerbot filament (white) I will try tonight
Apr 11, 2016 7:13 AM - JeffTheMess: any job it fails
Apr 11, 2016 7:14 AM - JeffTheMess: I have the stud therm, which I checked and its good re-tighten it last night still messes up
Apr 11, 2016 7:14 AM - danzca6: and your connections on the board are secure
Apr 11, 2016 7:15 AM - JeffTheMess: I've head that it could be a short on the ramps board itself, I haven't; checked for shorts but my connections are good
    Apr 11, 2016 7:16 AM - danzca6: ugh...curse you printer gremlins!
Apr 11, 2016 7:16 AM - JeffTheMess: trust me I almost slammed my robo last night, my wife stopped me lol
    Apr 11, 2016 7:17 AM - danzca6: beauty always tames the beast ... ha
Apr 11, 2016 7:19 AM - danzca6: yeah digging in and checking for shorts and continuity of the thermistor wires makes sense to try at this point
Apr 11, 2016 7:20 AM - daniel871: The new bed heater, relay, etc. are in for the Robo. Titan is on order to design a mount for, PT100 v6 is assembled and ready to mount. Just have to have a day where I remove the RAMPS, solder in the AUX pins, mount everything up, flash the new firmware and print calibration cubes.
Apr 11, 2016 7:21 AM - danzca6: any you have your new motor already
    Apr 11, 2016 7:21 AM - daniel871: Nah, that's still shipping.
Apr 11, 2016 7:21 AM - danzca6: ha, I was going to say that was quick
Apr 11, 2016 7:21 AM - rn_1604: Hi I have just installed the full graphics lcd... anyone knows that is the FR icon?
Apr 11, 2016 7:22 AM - rn_1604: there is a percentage that i can control in the homescreen
    Apr 11, 2016 7:22 AM - daniel871: Feed Rate
Apr 11, 2016 7:22 AM - rn_1604: oh so i can speed up and slow down anytime i want during the print?
Apr 11, 2016 7:22 AM - danzca6: welcome to the beauty of LCD controllers
    Apr 11, 2016 7:22 AM - daniel871: Within certain limits, yes.
Apr 11, 2016 7:23 AM - daniel871: Like, you don't want to go nuts and crank it to 500% or 2%.
    Apr 11, 2016 7:23 AM - rn_1604: cool... anyone using the 1.1.0 Release Candidate 5?
    Apr 11, 2016 7:23 AM - rn_1604: Is it stable?
    Apr 11, 2016 7:23 AM - daniel871: I'm on RC4, haven't flashed RC5 yet.
Apr 11, 2016 7:24 AM - danzca6: daniel, sounds like there is already a mount design for the Titan and Robo according to Filastruder
Apr 11, 2016 7:24 AM - danzca6: My money is on MK already having put together something. He has been uber busy this weekend to confirm though
Apr 11, 2016 7:25 AM - rn_1604: is there a display info i can see for RC4? Would like to compare the difference
    Apr 11, 2016 7:25 AM - daniel871: Got a link?
Apr 11, 2016 7:25 AM - danzca6: it hasn't been released yet to the E3D wiki, but it is "in the works"
Apr 11, 2016 7:25 AM - daniel871: Sorry rn_1604. I only really updated the firmware for the Mesh Bed Leveling aspect, most other features/etc. won't matter to the Robo.
Apr 11, 2016 7:25 AM - danzca6: filastruder just told us on a thread here
Apr 11, 2016 7:26 AM - rn_1604: I would like to see if they have the % completion and filament usage
    Apr 11, 2016 7:26 AM - rn_1604: mesh bed leveling aspect?
Apr 11, 2016 7:27 AM - danzca6: once I get mine from PS I will finish the idea(s) I have for a mount if one hasn't been released by then
Apr 11, 2016 7:28 AM - danzca6: I am hoping to tweak the case design and see if I can get the hex to work as well as the V6 to make it truely universal
    Apr 11, 2016 7:29 AM - danzca6: but we'll see
Apr 11, 2016 7:30 AM - danzca6: rn, mesh leveling is the bees knees I have heard...much better than ABL and is one time and done instead of each print like ABL
    Apr 11, 2016 7:30 AM - rn_1604: oh...
Apr 11, 2016 7:30 AM - danzca6: haven't set it yet on mine, but might with the new extruder setup
Apr 11, 2016 7:30 AM - danzca6: there is at least one thread on it here
Apr 11, 2016 7:31 AM - rn_1604: does anyone have weird contrast issues with their full graphics lcd? I have to view mine at an angle to see properly. Viewing it face on looks dark... this does not happen until i turn on my robo3d
Apr 11, 2016 7:32 AM - rn_1604: adjusted the contrast setting but doesnt seem to affect anything
Apr 11, 2016 7:32 AM - danzca6: so fine with just the usb plugged in, but full power takes away from it?
    Apr 11, 2016 7:33 AM - rn_1604: yes
Apr 11, 2016 7:33 AM - rn_1604: usb plugged in, it looks perfect
Apr 11, 2016 7:34 AM - danzca6: I have the XXL LCD and never noticed a difference. Haven't tried the full to know if that is normal
    Apr 11, 2016 7:34 AM - danzca6: shouldn't be
    Apr 11, 2016 7:34 AM - rn_1604: yea really weird
Apr 11, 2016 7:34 AM - danzca6: other than that it is working ok for printing and such?
Apr 11, 2016 7:34 AM - rn_1604: like there's some interference or something when the robo3d is powered on
Apr 11, 2016 7:34 AM - rn_1604: yep other than that it is working fine
Apr 11, 2016 7:35 AM - rn_1604: tried changing the knob control direction too, but doesnt seem to work
Apr 11, 2016 7:35 AM - danzca6: did you update your firmware with the full lcd install?
    Apr 11, 2016 7:38 AM - rn_1604: i downloaded the firmware from here http://guide.robo3d.com/Wiki/ROBO_3D_Firmware_Release_Notes
    Apr 11, 2016 7:39 AM - rn_1604: the arduino files for R1+ firmware
    Apr 11, 2016 7:39 AM - rn_1604: #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER
Apr 11, 2016 7:40 AM - danzca6: did you change anything in the firmware before flashing? I think that there is a flag to set for the FULL and a graphics pack to download and include in the arduino libraries. The XXL is supported by default,
    Apr 11, 2016 7:40 AM - danzca6: oh ok
    Apr 11, 2016 7:41 AM - rn_1604: didnt really change anything significant
    Apr 11, 2016 7:42 AM - rn_1604: i have already added the u8glib here https://code.google.com/archive/p/u8glib/
Apr 11, 2016 7:45 AM - rn_1604: btw when following the steps, i didnt see this "Under file, choose sketchbook, and then choose marlin auto level."
    Apr 11, 2016 7:45 AM - rn_1604: is that ok?
Apr 11, 2016 7:46 AM - danzca6: that is just saying to select the firmware files you downloaded basically
    Apr 11, 2016 7:47 AM - rn_1604: oic
Apr 11, 2016 7:47 AM - danzca6: oh, I see they finally put the R1+ firmware files out there...I will have to do a compare on that
    Apr 11, 2016 7:47 AM - rn_1604: compare to?
Apr 11, 2016 7:47 AM - rn_1604: any recommendation on what firmware files i should use
Apr 11, 2016 7:48 AM - danzca6: ha...looks like it is just the leadscrew upgrade firmware
    Apr 11, 2016 7:48 AM - danzca6: nevermind then
    Apr 11, 2016 7:49 AM - danzca6: you have the R1+ right
    Apr 11, 2016 7:52 AM - rn_1604: yep
    Apr 11, 2016 7:52 AM - danzca6: so you removed the // in front of #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER
    Apr 11, 2016 7:52 AM - rn_1604: yes
Apr 11, 2016 7:52 AM - rn_1604: for my sainsmart full graphics lcd controller
    Apr 11, 2016 7:53 AM - danzca6: and you put // in front of #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER //robo
Apr 11, 2016 7:55 AM - danzca6: not sure if having both defined makes a difference
    Apr 11, 2016 7:57 AM - rn_1604: no i didnt put // in front of #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_SMART_CONTROLLER //robo
    Apr 11, 2016 7:57 AM - rn_1604: ok let me try
Apr 11, 2016 7:57 AM - danzca6: yeah, I can't find anywhere calling that out as needed with the FULL..so might not do anything

    Apr 11, 2016 7:59 AM - rn_1604: it;s uploading now and it look fine
    Apr 11, 2016 7:59 AM - rn_1604: hope that stays
Apr 11, 2016 7:59 AM - rn_1604: eh nope back to how it was
    Apr 11, 2016 7:59 AM - danzca6: it was a shot in the dark...
Apr 11, 2016 8:00 AM - danzca6: like I said, no experiance with the full
    Apr 11, 2016 8:01 AM - rn_1604: :)
Apr 11, 2016 8:01 AM - danzca6: My only other suggestion is to make sure everything is connected securely and that you don't have any power wires crossing the lcd cables that would cause interferance
Apr 11, 2016 8:02 AM - danzca6: maybe start a thread in the forum...I know there are plenty here that us the Full and this is the first I have heard of your issue
Apr 11, 2016 8:04 AM - JeffTheMess: that why i'm afraid of not buy an XXL may be different than what people have won't get help with it
Apr 11, 2016 8:21 AM - Bill Monroe: XXL rules
    Apr 11, 2016 8:22 AM - danzca6: go big or go home....haha
    Apr 11, 2016 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: ya! that works :)
Apr 11, 2016 8:23 AM - danzca6: anyone ever run a ground wire from the LCD to the printer to protect it? Not sure if it is necessary, but just wondering
    Apr 11, 2016 8:24 AM - JeffTheMess: wouldn't hurt
Apr 11, 2016 8:25 AM - danzca6: I might do that with the new one coming. Kind of bummed out that the one I have started doing the crazy character display and I have had 2 prints just stop without error with the LCD lately. Hopefully the new one fixes that.
Apr 11, 2016 8:28 AM - JeffTheMess: Dan you are living the good life my friend
Apr 11, 2016 8:32 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont have any added ground lines -I'd have to look at the schizo to see if it's already taken care of.. but I'd be cautious about potentially adding a ground loop scenario
    Apr 11, 2016 8:36 AM - danzca6: good point
Apr 11, 2016 8:36 AM - danzca6: I just don't want to go through another one anytime soon
Apr 11, 2016 8:37 AM - daniel871: I've got to let my hands heal up before I work on the Robo any more, I think.
Apr 11, 2016 8:38 AM - daniel871: Did a tear down/rebuild of a porch with my dad this weekend and I'm finding new cuts every time I wash my hands, feels like.
Apr 11, 2016 8:39 AM - daniel871: Don't want to be playing with acetone removing the bed adhesive on the stock bed with cuts on my hands, that's for sure.
Apr 11, 2016 8:43 AM - danzca6: that will wake you up quick
Apr 11, 2016 8:44 AM - Bill Monroe: one word... gloves
Apr 11, 2016 8:46 AM - daniel871: Latex only stands up to Acetone for about ten minutes, plus latex allergy.
Apr 11, 2016 8:47 AM - Bill Monroe: nono leather... get no cuts
Apr 11, 2016 8:50 AM - Bill Monroe: i spent the weekend installing a new swamp cooler and cutting down 12 creosote bushes.. $5 gloves from home depot and my hands are still soft as an 18 year old girl's.. well, they're still soft :)
Apr 11, 2016 9:19 AM - danzca6: BTW, e3d has a coupon code now for the new Titan extruder to get 10% off "Extrude3D". Filastruder is also honoring that code. Don't know about PrintedSolid.
    Apr 11, 2016 9:22 AM - danzca6: https://3dprint.com/129090/robo-3d-print-with-purpose/
Apr 11, 2016 9:48 AM - TstarkEngineering: anyone know of a support material that works well with PETG
    Apr 11, 2016 9:53 AM - danzca6: PLA?
    Apr 11, 2016 9:53 AM - danzca6: are you running duals
    Apr 11, 2016 9:55 AM - TstarkEngineering: yes
    Apr 11, 2016 9:55 AM - danzca6: https://airwolf3d.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/5000626735-dissolving-pla
    Apr 11, 2016 9:55 AM - danzca6: just a thought
Apr 11, 2016 9:57 AM - TstarkEngineering: yikes could work, but hopefully I can find something a little more practical
Apr 11, 2016 10:00 AM - TstarkEngineering: thank you for the info
Apr 11, 2016 10:06 AM - Bill Monroe: man, that stuff is great drain cleaner,, i prefer it... but there's no way I'd use it for anything else.. it's nasty
Apr 11, 2016 10:12 AM - TstarkEngineering: I will have to find some sort of cleaner solution. Unfortunately I have to use PETG, and I cannot get a clean nice finish between the support and part
Apr 11, 2016 10:22 AM - danzca6: I read that PETG makes bad support because of how strong a bond it makes.
Apr 11, 2016 10:24 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya it sucks...I can get it to separate, but then I need to bridge the material. and the bridged layer looks horrible
Apr 11, 2016 10:32 AM - danzca6: is this for a customer where finish is key?
Apr 11, 2016 10:34 AM - danzca6: and will you be making more than one copy of this part?
Apr 11, 2016 10:36 AM - TstarkEngineering: hundreds of parts, cant be injection molded, for a customer, and needs to be PETG
Apr 11, 2016 10:40 AM - danzca6: ok, I was going to suggest creating a mold and resin, but not an option
Apr 11, 2016 10:41 AM - TstarkEngineering: well I could create a 3d printed mold and melt it away after, but its not practical
Apr 11, 2016 10:43 AM - TstarkEngineering: Im thinking about trying like super cooling the layer between part and support to see if that works
Apr 11, 2016 10:44 AM - toymaker: just finished a 200mm tall 100 micron aria the dragon print
    Apr 11, 2016 10:44 AM - danzca6: pic pic pic
Apr 11, 2016 10:44 AM - toymaker: and applied 3 light coats of rustoluem 2-1 filler primer
Apr 11, 2016 10:44 AM - toymaker: k one sec let me take a pic
    Apr 11, 2016 10:45 AM - toymaker: give me like 10 mins
    Apr 11, 2016 10:45 AM - danzca6: haha...no rush
Apr 11, 2016 10:45 AM - danzca6: sound like you are still working on it
    Apr 11, 2016 10:54 AM - toymaker: http://imgur.com/nYL6HtN did this work?
Apr 11, 2016 10:56 AM - TstarkEngineering: what size is the stock cooling fan
Apr 11, 2016 10:57 AM - toymaker: http://imgur.com/5jsRmuN imgur is acting up for me, the 2nd print with no head was looking better buyt when i checked on it this morning it had fallen over
Apr 11, 2016 10:58 AM - toymaker: i sprayed it with 3 light coats of rustoluem 2-1 primer/filler... next i will wet sand it some
Apr 11, 2016 10:59 AM - toymaker: then apply bondo glaze putty, wet sand, more primer feeler, wet sand some more, etc
    Apr 11, 2016 11:00 AM - danzca6: T, part cooling is 40mm and hotend cooler is 25mm
Apr 11, 2016 11:00 AM - toymaker: did the images work for u danz
Apr 11, 2016 11:01 AM - danzca6: toy, i just watched a youtube vid this weekend doing the same process
    Apr 11, 2016 11:01 AM - danzca6: sec
    Apr 11, 2016 11:01 AM - toymaker: hook hand??
    Apr 11, 2016 11:01 AM - danzca6: that's the one
    Apr 11, 2016 11:02 AM - danzca6: yes, those pics worked
Apr 11, 2016 11:02 AM - danzca6: imgur doesn't work on this machine all the time, but it did on my phone
Apr 11, 2016 11:02 AM - toymaker: yea i watched that one tooo, so im giving it a go
    Apr 11, 2016 11:02 AM - danzca6: that looks really good
Apr 11, 2016 11:03 AM - toymaker: i pretty much took it off the printer and sprayed it , no cleanup...yet
Apr 11, 2016 11:03 AM - toymaker: not sure.... it was fallen over when i checked on it this mronig, it was looking better than the first one =\
Apr 11, 2016 11:04 AM - danzca6: I bet a couple rounds of sanding and filling will make it look really nice
Apr 11, 2016 11:04 AM - toymaker: yea ill take some pics as i work on it throughout the day
Apr 11, 2016 11:04 AM - toymaker: i have a punisher one im doing, and a batman also
Apr 11, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6: I may have to start doing more post processing work
Apr 11, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6: more time, but the prints I keep to showcase would look so much better
Apr 11, 2016 11:49 AM - TstarkEngineering: well I have everything lined up to setup my Titan when parts get here
    Apr 11, 2016 11:51 AM - danzca6: did you make a bracket
Apr 11, 2016 11:51 AM - TstarkEngineering: yes but it will need to be adjusted fine tuned when I physically have parts
Apr 11, 2016 11:52 AM - TstarkEngineering: its actually going to be less weight too which is cool
Apr 11, 2016 11:52 AM - danzca6: do you have dual direct or bowden
    Apr 11, 2016 11:52 AM - danzca6: yeah..the titan is only 90g
Apr 11, 2016 11:52 AM - TstarkEngineering: Im not going to run dual just a single...my bigbox is dual running 1 bowden 1 direct
    Apr 11, 2016 11:53 AM - danzca6: oh...didn't know about you having a BB as well
    Apr 11, 2016 11:53 AM - danzca6: you should have gotten 3 titans then
Apr 11, 2016 11:53 AM - TstarkEngineering: cant afford it lol
Apr 11, 2016 11:54 AM - daniel871: The models for the Robo mount will probably be published before I get to design my own version after getting the Titan in, lol.
Apr 11, 2016 11:55 AM - TstarkEngineering: haha well I plan on it running by this weekend. so most likely yes haha
Apr 11, 2016 11:55 AM - daniel871: Ah well. Still looking forward to having an extruder on the Robo that maybe won't be so prone to chewing the filament up and stripping itself out.
Apr 11, 2016 11:55 AM - danzca6: the center of gravity for the x carriage will change alot over the gregs
Apr 11, 2016 11:55 AM - TstarkEngineering: that is why i am moding mine, cleaner, way easier to insert the filament, its injection molded. just overall nicer, cleaner
Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - daniel871: Did you get the stepper as well or are you just going to put the Robo's extruder motor on it?
    Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - TstarkEngineering: though i did buy a new nema 17
    Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - daniel871: OK.
Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - TstarkEngineering: not sure if a stock will fit
    Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - danzca6: stock will fit
    Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - TstarkEngineering: without running into z axis
Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - daniel871: NEMA 17 is the spacing for the mounting, not necessarily the motor size itself.
    Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - danzca6: I have a model for stock
    Apr 11, 2016 11:56 AM - TstarkEngineering: no no

Apr 11, 2016 11:57 AM - TstarkEngineering: Im concerned about it running into the z rod
Apr 11, 2016 11:57 AM - daniel871: The screw spacing on the face plate of the motor.
Apr 11, 2016 11:57 AM - daniel871: Did you get the thin motor they show pictures of?
Apr 11, 2016 11:57 AM - danzca6: the motor won't be facing sideways on the plate
Apr 11, 2016 11:57 AM - daniel871: I wonder if the PS test kit will have that in it.
    Apr 11, 2016 11:58 AM - danzca6: if using stock
Apr 11, 2016 11:58 AM - TstarkEngineering: I designed it a little different but I could run it that way I guess too
Apr 11, 2016 11:58 AM - daniel871: I'm picturing a mount that has the stepper facing in the Y-axis direction.
Apr 11, 2016 11:58 AM - TstarkEngineering: Ill have to play around with it when I get it
Apr 11, 2016 11:58 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya i see what you are thinking
Apr 11, 2016 11:58 AM - daniel871: So, belt on one side, stepper on the other.
Apr 11, 2016 11:59 AM - TstarkEngineering: until I physically have parts its hard for me to see what I am going to do
    Apr 11, 2016 11:59 AM - danzca6: what size nema 17 did you get T
Apr 11, 2016 11:59 AM - daniel871: My Robo sits sideways on the table I have it set up on though so "Front facing" means nothing to me as a benefit for the extruder.
    Apr 11, 2016 12:00 PM - TstarkEngineering: http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/ne...or-35v-1a-13ncm184ozin-17hs081004s-p-101.html
    Apr 11, 2016 12:00 PM - danzca6: nice
Apr 11, 2016 12:00 PM - TstarkEngineering: k off to lunch be back later
    Apr 11, 2016 12:00 PM - danzca6: that will save a lot of weight
    Apr 11, 2016 12:00 PM - danzca6: later
    Apr 11, 2016 12:01 PM - danzca6: I should just order one of those
    Apr 11, 2016 12:03 PM - daniel871: I like this one better. http://www.omc-stepperonline.com/09-nema-17-bipolar-stepper-12a-11ncm156ozin-17hm081204s-p-99.html
    Apr 11, 2016 12:03 PM - daniel871: .9 degree step vs. 1.8 degree step.
Apr 11, 2016 12:04 PM - daniel871: Even better resolution on the extrusion.
Apr 11, 2016 12:08 PM - XEMA: If this is for the Titan extruder, I hope someone posts a thread with their findings
    Apr 11, 2016 12:10 PM - Bill Monroe: howdy
    Apr 11, 2016 12:13 PM - danzca6: there is a thread already started XEMA
    Apr 11, 2016 12:13 PM - danzca6: welcome back Bill
    Apr 11, 2016 12:13 PM - danzca6: I think the BB uses all .9 deg steppers
Apr 11, 2016 12:14 PM - Bill Monroe: hi Dan
    Apr 11, 2016 12:15 PM - danzca6: how is 2.0 doing in Japan
Apr 11, 2016 12:16 PM - Bill Monroe: havnt heard from her yet.. I'm sure she's doing fine
Apr 11, 2016 12:16 PM - danzca6: does she speak Japanese at all?
Apr 11, 2016 12:17 PM - Bill Monroe: knowing her sister.. they're letting japanese businessmen buy them drinks
Apr 11, 2016 12:17 PM - Bill Monroe: not really
Apr 11, 2016 12:17 PM - danzca6: Is she there the whole week?
Apr 11, 2016 12:18 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. pre-show pics, then the show starts thursday
Apr 11, 2016 12:18 PM - Bill Monroe: or wednesday maybe, I forget
Apr 11, 2016 12:18 PM - danzca6: that will make for a long week for you and the dogs
Apr 11, 2016 12:19 PM - Bill Monroe: heh ya but that's ok, they're great buddies and I'll get a lot done
Apr 11, 2016 12:20 PM - danzca6: how is the house shuffle going
Apr 11, 2016 12:20 PM - Bill Monroe: couple of the guys down the road ar ecoming by tomorrow, I dont get to see them very much.. they heard I'm building a shop and they want to come and primal grunt over the plans :)
Apr 11, 2016 12:21 PM - Bill Monroe: it's slowed at the moment while I spend ime on the san diego house
    Apr 11, 2016 12:21 PM - Bill Monroe: time
Apr 11, 2016 12:21 PM - danzca6: haha...I can hear Tim Allen in the background
Apr 11, 2016 12:22 PM - danzca6: it looks like we might finally get a warm patch...so hopefully I can get out this week and start on the Spring yardwork
Apr 11, 2016 12:23 PM - Bill Monroe: its been cold and raining here... got a fire going in two woodstoves
Apr 11, 2016 12:24 PM - danzca6: we got a lot of rain yesterday and snow on saturday (light)
    Apr 11, 2016 12:24 PM - danzca6: I have a feeling that your cold is my warm ... haha
Apr 11, 2016 12:25 PM - Bill Monroe: these guys have done buildings here themselves so they know the drill for dealing with code enforcement
Apr 11, 2016 12:25 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, anything below 58 is time for a fire :)
Apr 11, 2016 12:26 PM - Bill Monroe: or anytime 2.0 is walking around in her yoga outfit :)
    Apr 11, 2016 12:26 PM - danzca6: <HI5>
Apr 11, 2016 12:33 PM - Bill Monroe: wow.. just got a pic of the two of them...
Apr 11, 2016 12:35 PM - danzca6: not too late to get on a plane
    Apr 11, 2016 12:36 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
Apr 11, 2016 12:37 PM - Bill Monroe: they got them in those way-short dresses with the hot pants underneath like all the japanese show girls wear
Apr 11, 2016 12:38 PM - Bill Monroe: and too much eye makeup
    Apr 11, 2016 12:39 PM - danzca6: pink hair?
Apr 11, 2016 12:40 PM - Bill Monroe: nope normal hair.. no pigtails
    Apr 11, 2016 12:41 PM - danzca6: eh...still early in the week
Apr 11, 2016 12:43 PM - danzca6: I just watched Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift last night...so I have picture of what an outfit like that would look like haha
Apr 11, 2016 12:44 PM - danzca6: so back to the shop...you said you are doing 8in walls...why so thick?
    Apr 11, 2016 12:45 PM - danzca6: or did I read that wrong
Apr 11, 2016 12:45 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. 8" try to keep the temp mitigated
    Apr 11, 2016 12:46 PM - danzca6: ok...that makes sense
Apr 11, 2016 12:46 PM - danzca6: didn't know if you were going for noise reduction or what
Apr 11, 2016 12:47 PM - Bill Monroe: well, i guess it will help with noise but there's so little noise up here
    Apr 11, 2016 12:48 PM - danzca6: I was thinking keeping the noise in
Apr 11, 2016 12:49 PM - Bill Monroe: ha! i dont care about that :)
Apr 11, 2016 12:49 PM - danzca6: yeah you probably have lots of space between neighbors
    Apr 11, 2016 12:51 PM - Bill Monroe: 1 acre lots.. 9 out of 10 are vacant
    Apr 11, 2016 12:51 PM - danzca6: not bad
    Apr 11, 2016 1:11 PM - Bill Monroe: back
    Apr 11, 2016 1:12 PM - TstarkEngineering: hola
    Apr 11, 2016 1:22 PM - Bill Monroe: Hi-yoooo
Apr 11, 2016 5:46 PM - daniel871: Well, figured out how to have multiple Octopi units running on the same network.
Apr 11, 2016 5:46 PM - daniel871: Change the hostname when first setting up, then it becomes hostname.local
Apr 11, 2016 5:47 PM - daniel871: The robo has the Octopi on the Raspberry Pi2, the i3 gets the new Pi3.
Apr 11, 2016 5:57 PM - danzca6: nice tip daniel...thanks. I currently just have the pi2 on my robo, but will want others on my network
Apr 11, 2016 7:25 PM - Mike Kelly: hello from the other side
    Apr 11, 2016 7:55 PM - toymaker: http://imgur.com/YI1G7V6 still sanding...

    Apr 11, 2016 9:27 PM - danzca6: Hey MK...still on?
Apr 11, 2016 9:29 PM - danzca6: toy, that is coming along nicely. I am surprised by the amount of holes in the base. Can't wait to see the progress using that technique.
    Apr 12, 2016 5:49 AM - JeffTheMess: morning robonauts
    Apr 12, 2016 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Apr 12, 2016 6:01 AM - JeffTheMess: So I had a successful print with makerbot filament white
    Apr 12, 2016 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: i had no doubts
    Apr 12, 2016 6:03 AM - JeffTheMess: I did :)
    Apr 12, 2016 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. I can understand :)
Apr 12, 2016 6:03 AM - JeffTheMess: I will try again hatchbox white tonight again
Apr 12, 2016 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: that HB ABS white works perfect in my ABS machine, but dont even try it on the robo
Apr 12, 2016 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: trust me never again
Apr 12, 2016 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: hows the new job been so far?
Apr 12, 2016 6:06 AM - daniel871: Is the ABS machine a modified Stratasys, or something else?
Apr 12, 2016 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: work is fine.. finished probation. fully medical covered now..
Apr 12, 2016 6:07 AM - JeffTheMess: you like it?
Apr 12, 2016 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: it's not. It's a machine I designed ripping off Strat techniques and methods.. it's fully heated (which is an absolute must for good ABS work), resembles a Big Box as far as size and basic format except mine has 2 X carriages.
Apr 12, 2016 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: some of the parts, like the space heaters, came from a stratasys Prodigy Plus that I used for 10+ years but just wore out and strat stopped all support so, I canableized it
Apr 12, 2016 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: the job.. eh, it pays the bills. the product is amazing, people and fun and competent.. the owner though is tired and set in his ways so innovation is tough
    Apr 12, 2016 6:12 AM - JeffTheMess: cool
Apr 12, 2016 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: the other engineers... they're a bunch... none are formally educated, all just have been making machines their entire career.. they're more designers just repeating what they've seen done in the past and making adjustements
Apr 12, 2016 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: they're all supposed to be solidworks experts but it's clear they know one aspect well but beyound that are lost
Apr 12, 2016 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: one guy really knows how to annotate drawings, but totally lost when it comes to making something new....
Apr 12, 2016 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: another guy can dissect large assemblies but treats any problems but totally wiping all the relations and doing them over...
Apr 12, 2016 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: a third is the self-proclaimed IT guy, but all the workstations have gaming video cards, and are not solidworks certified, which causes myriads of wierdness they get all frustrated about
Apr 12, 2016 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: (I changed the card in mine to a certified CAD card after the first week)
Apr 12, 2016 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: they kinda had me pegged as a newbie when I walked in the door becuase my resume was more diversified.. but they keep asking me how to do stuff in solidworks..
Apr 12, 2016 6:24 AM - JeffTheMess: lol alot of companies are doing that now
Apr 12, 2016 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: ya.. if I was staerting out I'd be annoyed by it all but now, I dont care.. just pay me :)
    Apr 12, 2016 6:26 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah
Apr 12, 2016 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: all the conmputers are identical (except for my cad card), and they cant figure out why I dont seem to be having any troubles :)
Apr 12, 2016 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: hell, I got a nice office with an insane view and the worst parking spot is maybe 75 ft away...
Apr 12, 2016 6:29 AM - JeffTheMess: nice office is always good
Apr 12, 2016 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: one big benefit for me.. fully equipped in-house CNC machine shop.. 12 machinists, all cool.. lots of good intel in there
Apr 12, 2016 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: i've been asking questions.. getting lots of good info..
Apr 12, 2016 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: heh I designed a part in 304 stainless with a 5/8 hole that has to be within .0005".. went to see how that would make them feel
Apr 12, 2016 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: they told me both the HAAS Machines can route that no problem! gads!
Apr 12, 2016 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: then asked me if I would annotate the drawing a particular way to make it easier for them.. no problem for me.. every be happy
Apr 12, 2016 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: it seems the other engineers have a prickly relation with the machinists.. they tend to design stuff and let the machinists figure it out
Apr 12, 2016 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: bad boys.. no collaboration.. no bueno
Apr 12, 2016 6:37 AM - Bill Monroe: so Jeff.. get the XXL yet? :)
Apr 12, 2016 6:38 AM - JeffTheMess: nope lol, i'm focusing on my 3dlp right now
    Apr 12, 2016 6:38 AM - Bill Monroe: nice
Apr 12, 2016 6:42 AM - JeffTheMess: hopefully another week or two if the robo cooperates
Apr 12, 2016 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: cant wait
Apr 12, 2016 7:45 AM - daniel871: To be fair to the guy that breaks and rebuilds relations in large assemblies, if you're starting with an assembly you didn't build yourself and you're getting a bunch of errors that is usually the best way to fix it.
Apr 12, 2016 7:46 AM - daniel871: Now, if it's one they created to start with, that's a whole other issue.
Apr 12, 2016 7:48 AM - TstarkEngineering: at my last job that used to be one of my pet peeves...I would get assemblies that would be all messed up, and how it was linked through our system and PDM it would be a mess
Apr 12, 2016 7:52 AM - TstarkEngineering: anyone notice that ROBO at the NY show didnt have the R2 or R2 mini with them
    Apr 12, 2016 8:02 AM - JeffTheMess: what a shocker!
Apr 12, 2016 8:11 AM - TstarkEngineering: To me that means even more of a delay
Apr 12, 2016 8:14 AM - JeffTheMess: there has been delays for over a year now
    Apr 12, 2016 8:16 AM - daniel871: Since Winter of 2014.
Apr 12, 2016 8:23 AM - TstarkEngineering: haha I know...you saw the picture I made didnt you lol
Apr 12, 2016 8:49 AM - daniel871: Nope. I just remember the twitter post Robo3D posted back then about it.
Apr 12, 2016 8:49 AM - NFOsec: So, Jeff, you're going to plunge into the XXL eh? I did last week. Printed the case and Robo feet, installed in about 15 minutes. took a while to understand some things, but definitely nice to see onboard display AND have a SD option direct... the Robo port used for memory card wouldn't even serve as a prostitute for roaches.
Apr 12, 2016 8:50 AM - NFOsec: My speculation is that they have so much inventory they're pushing that before they can commit to more on the new front.
    Apr 12, 2016 8:51 AM - daniel871: https://twitter.com/RoBo3DPrinter/status/468445322247565312/photo/1

Apr 12, 2016 8:53 AM - daniel871: You should Tweet that at them.
Apr 12, 2016 8:54 AM - TstarkEngineering: haha Im not that brave
Apr 12, 2016 8:54 AM - daniel871: What does brave have to do with it?
Apr 12, 2016 8:55 AM - TstarkEngineering: despite the truth, Im not going to be a jerk, they know they are failing
Apr 12, 2016 9:12 AM - toymaker: http://imgur.com/qFsUAO2 just hit with another coat
Apr 12, 2016 9:13 AM - toymaker: i wanted to show the diff between unsanded bondo area vs sanded bondo area
Apr 12, 2016 9:14 AM - toymaker: u can still see layering in her head...but ill fix that and the other rough spots
    Apr 12, 2016 9:16 AM - NFOsec: I love thet October 2014 comment -- what do I do, should I wait...
Apr 12, 2016 9:18 AM - NFOsec: I'm actually creating an aluminum corner frame (boxed) casing for my Robo to get rid of this wacky top that is more of an access hinderance than anything... removable/openable hinged sides, front/back/top with a bridge top for dropping in filaments.
Apr 12, 2016 9:18 AM - danzca6: that's coming along nicely toy. It's a lot more complex of a surface to sand around and fill than the hook
Apr 12, 2016 9:19 AM - danzca6: cool NFO...any pics yet or just in the planning stage
Apr 12, 2016 9:20 AM - daniel871: I'm going to do the same thing to my original R1 at some point.
Apr 12, 2016 9:20 AM - daniel871: Mainly as a testing/prototyping thing for the build, then move it to the R1+ once it's the way I like it.
Apr 12, 2016 9:20 AM - NFOsec: no pics yet, but have the pieces cut, will have it done by Friday or Saturday.
Apr 12, 2016 9:20 AM - toymaker: nfo, i can here mk telling me right now my aluminum 8020 frame 3d printer is over kill and not needed lol
Apr 12, 2016 9:20 AM - danzca6: I was thinking of all the mods I want to do with the Robo and wondered at what point is it no longer a robo and just a no name 3d printer
Apr 12, 2016 9:21 AM - daniel871: I seem to think somebody else was doing the same thing.
Apr 12, 2016 9:21 AM - NFOsec: the bridge is something I'm evaluating as a bend option (aluminum) or possibly may print one for adaptability.
    Apr 12, 2016 9:21 AM - daniel871: Maybe donhuevo?
Apr 12, 2016 9:22 AM - NFOsec: well, it might be, but I want full access to all sides of my Robo, otherwise what's the point of a cover. The one they have posted in that picture above makes it very challenging to deal with clean up without removing cover, and dealing with some tight-space adjustments.
    Apr 12, 2016 9:22 AM - NFOsec: dunno.
Apr 12, 2016 9:22 AM - toymaker: the printer i made can print down to 50microns no problem and at pretty decent speeds
Apr 12, 2016 9:23 AM - daniel871: So hey, that Trium delta was funded.
    Apr 12, 2016 9:23 AM - daniel871: I may have a delta late June/July.
Apr 12, 2016 9:24 AM - danzca6: I'm trying to win this delta (SeeMeCNC Rostock Max V2 3D Printer)..only 6 days left to enter if anyone is interested. https://wn.nr/RzbtzC
Apr 12, 2016 9:25 AM - danzca6: The 3d printing nerd is giving it away on youtube
    Apr 12, 2016 9:26 AM - daniel871: Oh yeah, I entered that contest already.
Apr 12, 2016 9:26 AM - daniel871: Slim odds, but it'd be nuts to win one of those.
    Apr 12, 2016 9:26 AM - danzca6: can enter more than once
Apr 12, 2016 9:26 AM - danzca6: and daniel, you seem to have the luck at winning things
Apr 12, 2016 9:26 AM - daniel871: The repeatable entries are watching the video once a day and getting random internet people to sign up with your particular link.
Apr 12, 2016 9:27 AM - daniel871: And yeah, I won one thing from Robo, but that's hardly good luck winning lottery-type stuff.
    Apr 12, 2016 9:27 AM - danzca6: haha...true that ;)
    Apr 12, 2016 9:28 AM - danzca6: bring me the powerball
    Apr 12, 2016 9:30 AM - NFOsec: I'
    Apr 12, 2016 9:30 AM - NFOsec: I'm cursed, would never win.
    Apr 12, 2016 9:35 AM - danzca6: Always worth a shot
    Apr 12, 2016 9:42 AM - NFOsec: Yeah, I did 6 of the 7. I am not a Twat so I won't twit.
Apr 12, 2016 9:42 AM - NFOsec: thanks for sharing.
    Apr 12, 2016 9:44 AM - danzca6: yeah I don't use twitter or facebook either...maybe I should someday...but then it won't be cool anymore
    Apr 12, 2016 9:47 AM - Bill Monroe: yo

Apr 12, 2016 9:48 AM - BryZad: Okay guys I am open to ideas I am still having the RoBo just stop mid print will just a kill printer command
Apr 12, 2016 9:48 AM - danzca6: How do you keep finding these? haha
    Apr 12, 2016 9:48 AM - danzca6: using an LCD?
    Apr 12, 2016 9:49 AM - Bill Monroe: ^^
Apr 12, 2016 9:49 AM - JeffTheMess: I look at regular comic stuff on youtube and it pops up :)
Apr 12, 2016 9:49 AM - BryZad: Yea new Reprap full grafic LCD
Apr 12, 2016 9:50 AM - danzca6: was it doing it before the LCD install?
Apr 12, 2016 9:51 AM - JeffTheMess: getting any error?
Apr 12, 2016 9:56 AM - BryZad: Yea was doing it with the xxl LCD also
Apr 12, 2016 9:56 AM - BryZad: Just kill printer error
Apr 12, 2016 9:57 AM - BryZad: Sorry not error was kill print command
Apr 12, 2016 9:58 AM - BryZad: Is shows on the LCD that the hot end is still on and print bed but they are cold and the screen still says it is printing
Apr 12, 2016 9:58 AM - Bill Monroe: you're saying the firmware issued a kill print command?
    Apr 12, 2016 9:58 AM - BryZad: Yep
Apr 12, 2016 9:59 AM - Bill Monroe: well, as the old doctor once said... dont do that :)
Apr 12, 2016 9:59 AM - BryZad: And it does it with the new Reprap display and my old xxl lcd
Apr 12, 2016 9:59 AM - Bill Monroe: the displays wont do that
Apr 12, 2016 10:00 AM - Bill Monroe: hang on.. i'm looking up what a kill print command looks like
Apr 12, 2016 10:00 AM - BryZad: I talked to print solid and he heard of very few ran into it
Apr 12, 2016 10:02 AM - Bill Monroe: ok what slicer are you using?
Apr 12, 2016 10:02 AM - BryZad: Also switched out the ramps board and arduino
    Apr 12, 2016 10:03 AM - BryZad: Simply 3d
    Apr 12, 2016 10:03 AM - Bill Monroe: you're shotgunning..
Apr 12, 2016 10:03 AM - Bill Monroe: where are you seeing the message?
    Apr 12, 2016 10:03 AM - BryZad: No I haven't been shotgunning
Apr 12, 2016 10:03 AM - JeffTheMess: damn Bry you changed all that and still there!? WTF
Apr 12, 2016 10:04 AM - Bill Monroe: yes, random hail mary replacements hoping to find a solution is shotgunning
Apr 12, 2016 10:04 AM - BryZad: Me and Mike K thought was getting com problems through adriono
Apr 12, 2016 10:04 AM - Bill Monroe: where are you seeing the message?
    Apr 12, 2016 10:04 AM - BryZad: I had a spare ramps board
Apr 12, 2016 10:04 AM - Bill Monroe: ya well.. no comment
Apr 12, 2016 10:05 AM - BryZad: In the verbos command
    Apr 12, 2016 10:05 AM - BryZad: Promp
Apr 12, 2016 10:07 AM - Bill Monroe: do you mean the monitor in S3D?
    Apr 12, 2016 10:07 AM - BryZad: Yea
    Apr 12, 2016 10:07 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, that's not a command
Apr 12, 2016 10:08 AM - Bill Monroe: failures often occur when leaving a USB connection open..
Apr 12, 2016 10:08 AM - Bill Monroe: there's a myriad of reasons why that happens..
Apr 12, 2016 10:09 AM - TstarkEngineering: anyone know the robo footprint off hand
Apr 12, 2016 10:09 AM - Bill Monroe: they run the spectrum from signal interferences to bad connections to bad drivers
Apr 12, 2016 10:09 AM - BryZad: Even when printing from SD ?
Apr 12, 2016 10:10 AM - Bill Monroe: some firmware version deal with crc check errors by shutting down the printer to make it safe since printing cant continue
    Apr 12, 2016 10:10 AM - BryZad: Would be a communication problem
Apr 12, 2016 10:10 AM - Bill Monroe: if you have the monitor running, you have an OPEN USB connection
Apr 12, 2016 10:11 AM - BryZad: I know on the monitor but it happens printing over USB and stand alone sd
Apr 12, 2016 10:11 AM - Bill Monroe: the next *logical* step would be to try running with usb caple unplugged entirely.. start the print from the SD card using the LCD
Apr 12, 2016 10:12 AM - BryZad: Happend last night with starting direct from lcd
Apr 12, 2016 10:13 AM - Bill Monroe: but you said you saw the message when it stopped
Apr 12, 2016 10:13 AM - TstarkEngineering: anyone know the width of the R1 off the top of their head
Apr 12, 2016 10:13 AM - BryZad: It stopped and the LCD screen was saying printing and showed temps on the hotend and bed but we're cold
    Apr 12, 2016 10:14 AM - Bill Monroe: sorry T, i'm 150 miles from my robo
Apr 12, 2016 10:14 AM - BryZad: Yea I have seen the code over USB but have been fighting this random stop for the past month and a half
Apr 12, 2016 10:15 AM - TstarkEngineering: its ok bill I am 60+ miles from mine and google is not being helpful
Apr 12, 2016 10:15 AM - BryZad: Same here Tim not by my robo
Apr 12, 2016 10:15 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, totaly different symptoms there dood.. lemme grok for a second
Apr 12, 2016 10:15 AM - Bill Monroe: call Robo?
    Apr 12, 2016 10:16 AM - TstarkEngineering: I think i might
Apr 12, 2016 10:17 AM - BryZad: No problem Bill I thank you for the help and different eyes
Apr 12, 2016 10:17 AM - Bill Monroe: you've probably reflashed the firmware
Apr 12, 2016 10:17 AM - Bill Monroe: have you tried a different version?
Apr 12, 2016 10:18 AM - Bill Monroe: i know I found a bug in the look-ahead routines on one version
Apr 12, 2016 10:19 AM - BryZad: I reflashed with the liner stepper firmwear
Apr 12, 2016 10:19 AM - Bill Monroe: hmm bug might be a strong word.. more of a weakness when running high-res and fast speeds
Apr 12, 2016 10:21 AM - BryZad: Yea I am kinda stumped also
Apr 12, 2016 10:21 AM - Bill Monroe: did you say you have an XXL?
Apr 12, 2016 10:22 AM - BryZad: I have both a XXL LCD and just got a reprap full graphics lcd
Apr 12, 2016 10:22 AM - Bill Monroe: bah.. shiotcan the "full" graphics :)
Apr 12, 2016 10:22 AM - TstarkEngineering: Hi Bry what is the problem you are having
Apr 12, 2016 10:22 AM - TstarkEngineering: blank screen on lcd?
Apr 12, 2016 10:22 AM - Bill Monroe: do you have the Z-screw upgrade?
    Apr 12, 2016 10:23 AM - BryZad: Yep
Apr 12, 2016 10:23 AM - BryZad: No tstark I have random stop prints
Apr 12, 2016 10:23 AM - Bill Monroe: using a thermistor on the nozzle?
    Apr 12, 2016 10:23 AM - TstarkEngineering: o ok
Apr 12, 2016 10:23 AM - BryZad: Over both LCD SD and usb
    Apr 12, 2016 10:23 AM - TstarkEngineering: are you running RC5?
    Apr 12, 2016 10:24 AM - BryZad: Rc5 ?
Apr 12, 2016 10:24 AM - TstarkEngineering: the newest firmware version
Apr 12, 2016 10:24 AM - Bill Monroe: dood.. thermistor or no?
Apr 12, 2016 10:25 AM - BryZad: I have the new firmware on the RoBo sight for the zsvrew upgrade
Apr 12, 2016 10:25 AM - TstarkEngineering: answer bills question first
    Apr 12, 2016 10:25 AM - Bill Monroe: <SIGH>
    Apr 12, 2016 10:26 AM - BryZad: Running e3d v6
Apr 12, 2016 10:26 AM - TstarkEngineering: does it show thermal runaway on your lcd when it stops?
Apr 12, 2016 10:27 AM - Bill Monroe: Bry... thermistor for heat sensing or thermocouple?
Apr 12, 2016 10:27 AM - BryZad: No hotend and bed temp stay solid in the graph in repeter
Apr 12, 2016 10:28 AM - BryZad: Have not up graded to screw in thermistor
Apr 12, 2016 10:28 AM - Bill Monroe: good, dont ever do that
    Apr 12, 2016 10:28 AM - Bill Monroe: it's not an upgrade
Apr 12, 2016 10:28 AM - BryZad: Okay will keep that in mind
Apr 12, 2016 10:28 AM - Bill Monroe: ok one final question... are you using autolevel?
Apr 12, 2016 10:29 AM - BryZad: Yea auto level
Apr 12, 2016 10:29 AM - TstarkEngineering: well still could be it...anyways I upgraded to RC5 the newest firmware, and kept getting failed prints just slightly into it, marlin changed parameter settings from RC4 to RC5 which caused me to get thermal runaway even if it was +/- 4 degrees...just saying not sure what firmware you are running
Apr 12, 2016 10:29 AM - Bill Monroe: alright.. here's why all the questions
    Apr 12, 2016 10:30 AM - BryZad: No problem
Apr 12, 2016 10:30 AM - Bill Monroe: i have a known-solid version of firmware.. assuming you have the right hardware (and it sounds like you do) it should run with no mods.
Apr 12, 2016 10:30 AM - Bill Monroe: that, and running a model that I sliced, should tell us if you have a firmware issues or not
Apr 12, 2016 10:31 AM - BryZad: I would have no problem doing that
Apr 12, 2016 10:31 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, as soon as I get to it, I'll packe it up so you can try it

Apr 12, 2016 10:32 AM - BryZad: Can you send me a message on what I need
    Apr 12, 2016 10:32 AM - BryZad: Thanks bill
Apr 12, 2016 10:32 AM - Bill Monroe: but you have to promise me to keep that USB cable totally away once it's flashed!
    Apr 12, 2016 10:32 AM - BryZad: Will do
    Apr 12, 2016 10:32 AM - BryZad: I hate usb
Apr 12, 2016 10:32 AM - Bill Monroe: you got what you need, I just need to get to my archives in San Diego
    Apr 12, 2016 10:33 AM - BryZad: No problem
Apr 12, 2016 10:33 AM - BryZad: I won't be home till later in the evening anyways
Apr 12, 2016 10:34 AM - Bill Monroe: I got so frustrated with all the bastardized version of Marlin about 10 months ago I just wrote my own
Apr 12, 2016 10:35 AM - Bill Monroe: that's one HUGE drawback of "open source".. all the hackers who once made an edit to Marlin now think they're C++ programmers :)
    Apr 12, 2016 10:35 AM - daniel871: I prefer this Batman v Superman related video.
Apr 12, 2016 10:35 AM - BryZad: If I had those skills I would learn to do that
Apr 12, 2016 10:36 AM - Bill Monroe: i grew up with C, but my son know is working on his computer science degree..
Apr 12, 2016 10:36 AM - BryZad: Cause I am racking my brain on making all the electronics for Bb8 build
Apr 12, 2016 10:37 AM - Bill Monroe: heck, I was at the presentation Brian Kernihan made to roll out the original C version.. at UC Berzerkly... how things have changed
Apr 12, 2016 10:37 AM - Bill Monroe: anyway.. I need to get back to coaxing this machine to pay attention to me :)
Apr 12, 2016 10:38 AM - BryZad: Thanks for your help bill
Apr 12, 2016 10:38 AM - BryZad: Will look for a message from you when I get home
Apr 12, 2016 10:40 AM - Bill Monroe: might be a day or two.. supposed to fly home in the morning
    Apr 12, 2016 10:40 AM - Bill Monroe: weather permitting :)
Apr 12, 2016 10:41 AM - BryZad: Okay no problem
Apr 12, 2016 11:30 AM - NFOsec: what, no lindberg attempts to weather the storm?
    Apr 12, 2016 11:34 AM - BryZad: Ha ha
Apr 12, 2016 11:35 AM - danzca6: Bry, if you get that fixed post what you did. Mine has done a very similar thing the last couple prints
Apr 12, 2016 11:35 AM - danzca6: My LCD went nuts though and had the crazy ascii character shapes all over it just prior...so I thought it might be the lcd
Apr 12, 2016 11:38 AM - danzca6: I have enough parts to build another printer if I wanted...so I was going to "shotgun" it. But would be curious to see if what Bill sends you fixes things.
Apr 12, 2016 11:43 AM - toymaker: my finger hurts
    Apr 12, 2016 11:43 AM - danzca6: I bet
    Apr 12, 2016 11:43 AM - danzca6: that's a lot of detail to sand
    Apr 12, 2016 11:43 AM - toymaker: 2 hour non stop
    Apr 12, 2016 11:43 AM - toymaker: butim doing 3 diff rthings
Apr 12, 2016 11:44 AM - danzca6: "labor of love" I think he called it in the video
Apr 12, 2016 11:44 AM - toymaker: but aria is looking really nice and smooth.... and i maintained alot of the detail
    Apr 12, 2016 11:45 AM - toymaker: yea
Apr 12, 2016 11:45 AM - toymaker: i need to by some sanding bits for finedetail...for my dremel
Apr 12, 2016 11:46 AM - danzca6: I have a feeling that will be sitting above your fireplace or something when done
Apr 12, 2016 11:48 AM - toymaker: lol ikr... iw ish their was a program that takes 3d model and chops them up into segemnts ( so u can print larger pieces and glue together
Apr 12, 2016 11:49 AM - toymaker: i can do it the manual way.... but does take some time
Apr 12, 2016 11:49 AM - TstarkEngineering: I usually just do it in solidworks. cut extrude
Apr 12, 2016 11:50 AM - TstarkEngineering: but I get your point toy
Apr 12, 2016 11:50 AM - toymaker: thats if u have access to the orginal solidwork file... ???
    Apr 12, 2016 11:50 AM - toymaker: what about a .stl
Apr 12, 2016 11:51 AM - TstarkEngineering: you can still do that with stl's
Apr 12, 2016 11:52 AM - TstarkEngineering: as long as you have planes. you can do a cut from a distance from a plane
Apr 12, 2016 11:52 AM - TstarkEngineering: it would probably be difficult if you wanted something unique outside of x y z planes
Apr 12, 2016 11:53 AM - toymaker: what about adding tabs and such for alignment
Apr 12, 2016 11:54 AM - TstarkEngineering: its possible but not super easy, because stl's dont have surfaces that you can do a sketch on. so you could try and match a plane to that surface then create a sketch but who knows how it will turn out
    Apr 12, 2016 11:54 AM - toymaker: yea...lol
Apr 12, 2016 11:55 AM - TstarkEngineering: and if you dont inset it into the stl. there will probably be a gap when you try and print
Apr 12, 2016 11:55 AM - TstarkEngineering: though with s3d you can always do print to a certain layer and stop
Apr 12, 2016 11:55 AM - toymaker: hence software to automate the process
    Apr 12, 2016 11:55 AM - TstarkEngineering: yup
Apr 12, 2016 11:56 AM - TstarkEngineering: I dont do much of modifying stls myself though
Apr 12, 2016 11:56 AM - toymaker: call it 3d atomizer or something
Apr 12, 2016 11:56 AM - TstarkEngineering: I either draft up something new or its my own design or get access to the cad file
    Apr 12, 2016 11:56 AM - toymaker: say i wanted a 5ft tall aria..u get the idea
Apr 12, 2016 11:57 AM - TstarkEngineering: you could do that in s3d though
Apr 12, 2016 11:57 AM - TstarkEngineering: but there would be no brackets to bond to the next
Apr 12, 2016 11:57 AM - toymaker: but the base would be over 1ft i bet
Apr 12, 2016 11:57 AM - TstarkEngineering: youd have to glue flat surface to flat surface
Apr 12, 2016 11:59 AM - toymaker: i can see where the volcano nozzle would really help... espcially sense i would use filler/bondo to pp
Apr 12, 2016 11:59 AM - TstarkEngineering: ya and youd shell it I imagine too
Apr 12, 2016 11:59 AM - TstarkEngineering: if you were really efficient you probably could print it within a few days
    Apr 12, 2016 12:00 PM - TstarkEngineering: with a volcano
Apr 12, 2016 12:00 PM - toymaker: i can barely right basic code in python lol
    Apr 12, 2016 12:01 PM - TstarkEngineering: hahaha
Apr 12, 2016 12:01 PM - toymaker: is their a kickstarter for software?
    Apr 12, 2016 12:03 PM - toymaker: https://www.google.com/search?q=din...UIBygB&biw=1024&bih=535#imgrc=MJQPmPkUIivlMM:
Apr 12, 2016 12:04 PM - toymaker: i use to have a rhino grasshopper definition that would take a 3d model and turn it into cutouts
Apr 12, 2016 12:05 PM - Bill Monroe: good afternoon
Apr 12, 2016 12:05 PM - toymaker: whats going on bill
Apr 12, 2016 12:05 PM - Bill Monroe: just eatin at my desk today.. you?
Apr 12, 2016 12:05 PM - toymaker: about to go back do some more sanding =\
Apr 12, 2016 12:06 PM - Bill Monroe: ick.. have fun with that
    Apr 12, 2016 12:06 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
    Apr 12, 2016 12:06 PM - toymaker: i need a few trained sanding monkeys
Apr 12, 2016 12:07 PM - Bill Monroe: you use that lacquer-based body putty for filler ?
    Apr 12, 2016 12:09 PM - toymaker: first i hit with the 2 in 1 filler/primer
Apr 12, 2016 12:09 PM - toymaker: 3 light coats, then wet sand
Apr 12, 2016 12:09 PM - toymaker: then light coat of bondo glazing putty, sand
Apr 12, 2016 12:09 PM - Bill Monroe: ah.. i thoght I recognized the color
    Apr 12, 2016 12:09 PM - toymaker: then more filler/primer sand
Apr 12, 2016 12:09 PM - toymaker: then more bindo sand
Apr 12, 2016 12:09 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. bondo glazing.. in a tube yes?
    Apr 12, 2016 12:10 PM - toymaker: yup
    Apr 12, 2016 12:10 PM - Bill Monroe: <hi5> me too
Apr 12, 2016 12:10 PM - toymaker: but its lookin really nice after 5 hours of sanding
    Apr 12, 2016 12:11 PM - toymaker: do u you use the 2 in1 primer/filler?
Apr 12, 2016 12:11 PM - Bill Monroe: I only use it on vertical surfaces when I'm making prints to use for casting patterns
Apr 12, 2016 12:11 PM - Bill Monroe: nope i just thin the glazing a little and paint it on
Apr 12, 2016 12:12 PM - toymaker: the 2 in 1 stuff works pretty good
    Apr 12, 2016 12:13 PM - toymaker: http://www.walmart.com/ip/17130272?...72548528&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=92082933168&veh=sem
Apr 12, 2016 12:13 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm in the process of switching to using the CNC machines with tapered bits now that they're easier to find
Apr 12, 2016 12:13 PM - toymaker: what size collet
Apr 12, 2016 12:14 PM - Bill Monroe: I have 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 for the router.. the mill has a lot more
Apr 12, 2016 12:16 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm thinking for my door machine, of using all castings made from recycled aluminum... really get the uber-liberals' up here toungues waggin
    Apr 12, 2016 12:19 PM - toymaker: door machine?
Apr 12, 2016 12:19 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. making a CNC router big enough to do entry doors
Apr 12, 2016 12:20 PM - toymaker: like how big? just 5 acoss and open ended on both sides?
    Apr 12, 2016 12:21 PM - Bill Monroe: 8 feet in Y - 50" X - 5" Z
