Should I migrate to a new software and leave mattercontrol?

I was looking at some previous threads and I found one in which you were talking about manually editing the steps per mm gcode is this a possible fix?

Not a good one. G code is good for print files only in my opinion. If your steps are wrong then you did something in the firmware. If you did nothing to the firmware its a hardware issue. Check the driver

Edit:step one is a different slicer which youve already done

So yesterday I got the drivers for the stepper motors. I removed the Z axis driver and found it smelled funny like smoke. I calibrated the new driver fallowing the instructions on http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/stepper-driver-calibration-information.6466/ and I am not able to get the correct voltage from the driver :( So I reinstalled the old driver back and the problem is even worse. Now the z axis will not go up once the print is running, it simply prints and keeps printing in the same level and wont step up properly. On the other hand manually pressing the Z+ button on mattercontrol works but I notice that if I ask the machine to go up 10mm I am getting 7mm instead.

I am also getting a hardware error msg (please see attached image)

I am really sad because I do not have the time to properly diagnose the problem properly. I appreciate the time and effort by Mark and Geof :) I will most probably be putting the parts for sale on ebay or something like that if you are interested let me know.

You need to scroll back through the GCode console to find the actual error.
That is the silly "Hey! I had an error already" error message and doesn't tell you what the original error message was.

That error will continue to repeat until you reset the Arduino.

When I have no time to mess around I buy a replacement board with the ramps on it. All machines will eventually have this problem. When the replacement comes in I try it to see if it will work if not set the drivers :) it is time consuming at forst

I think I might be having a similar issue. I added an LCD display and uploaded new firmware. Since then, I am getting BAD prints. Attached is a before and after.

Could this be caused by the board overheating or more likely a configuration error? On a side note, the LCD works GREAT! :)

You have to be sure you uploaded the correct firmware.
That is why they have the warning (or at least they had) since it is easy to grab the wrong one and upload it. So...

Make sure your Z steps/mm is correct.

If it is not your Z height that is incorrect (i.e. height not correct when printed and measured) you might want to start a new thread.

My first guess would be wrong firmware :)
