In the market for a Robo 3D printer but don't seem to find a difference between the 2 on the store page.

    Any help is appreciated :)

    Thanks

Hi there the big difference is the r1+ has a new style hexagon hotend a customized ramps shield and integrated lead screws (the threaded rods and motors are 1 piece to eliminate a print defect some r1 units had)

There are also "minor" things like built in z rod stabilizers and ribbon cable for the hot bed.
All in all the R1+ include some community "must" upgrades that Robo3d decided to adopt

The R1 has built in Z rod stabilizers and ribbon cable for the heated bed as well. ( well depending on its build date.. but my R1 has both )

Is there a way to see if the one I'm going to buy has these upgrades already? I was thinking about buying the refurbished one to save money. The exchange rate to CAD is killer.

Look at the threaded rods. Look where they attach to the steppers.
If there is a coupler then it is the R1.
If it goes directly to the stepper it is an R1+

I don't have a better way and you might not have pictures of that exact spot, but you can ask.

If shipping is high buy a r1+. Its 100.00 to upgrade the threaded rods plus whatever the shipping might be for the r1 refurbs. Some have the new bed cables and some dont (25-80.00 upgrade plus shipping).

Those are the only differences that really matter IMO

I would ask robo but if I had to guess an they are selling them I would imagine they put a ribbon cable on all of them when they "Refurbished" them.. but who knows.
