I have had my R1 for several months and I have printed a lot of things. Just recently, my extruder stopped heating up. I normally preheat prior to printing, but now the temperature doesn't climb. It never lost heat during a print. The print bed heats just fine, so i think it's not a software issue.

Could be the heater core (the part that makes the extruder get hot) or the connection for it from the RAMPS board.
I would suspect the heater core since you probably were not fiddling around with the electronics. :)

Is there a user guide to replacing parts? I'm not very savvy with how to repair these machines.

There isn't but we are working on FAQ manual so we're getting there :). If your order them we are here to help you out :). Replacing the heater is a pretty easy job so I'm confident you can do it, and any questions just ask. I'll do my best to get back to you as quick as possible.

The scary part is working on your expensive toy the first few times :)
