Sorry the motor is bad on each driver tried. When I swap to X the motor on the extruder still doesn't do right

Going to buy a new stepper.

While the one from Robo3D is higher priced would I be able to plug it straight into the old wiring?

Do other stepper motor require you to cut the wires?

The one from robo SHOULD be good. Never a certainty but i have many of their motors and each work as the oem does.

The new stepper should come with wires you can run directly to the ramps board.so youd remove the old stepper and wires and install your new ones. If you install and it spins backwards reverse the plug.

and if not buying a Robo one, just read the spec sheet that comes with it and the data from that and the RepRap calculator will get you able to adjust the firmware*. http://prusaprinters.org/calculator/

*and maybe you get lucky and it is the same specs so no tweaking needed.

Well I just changed this to unresolved. The Robo was working fine until I noticed the mistake I made.

I tied the wires that came from the small tie being cut from the extruder to the bundle of wires that come from below the printerm As my print got about 4 inches high the wires tied to the bundle caused the cable going to the stepper on the extruder to fail under the wieght

I just bought that cable from Robo3D with a motor I didn't really need. To get another working cable I have to buy another motor and have 3 working motors

I started back this thread to see if anyone has bought a single cable before for a stepper and if so where? Thank you

Lol nah just got to learn the slowly raise the wiring to max and min after working on it. Its a rough lesson for the wallet but a good one. Id hate to think of how much my mistakes cost me along the way...but in the long run i learned something very valuable :)

Well I called Robo and was told to do a part request online. No response yet.

I have been looking online and many options can be here in a few weeks from China, but the wiring could be too short or I am unsure how exactly it would connect to the ramps or the stepper

I went to a local electronic store yesterday and got a wire but then I realized how hard it would be to get connectors on it.

So I was considering the competition to see if use wiring like Robo3D. I know many brands use the same parts. Would anyone know if Makerbot. Flashforge or others use that extruder stepper cable? Thanks
