mark , thanks for those files.
now that I think about it. getting choppy movement, is that from using a computer vs sd card or controller?

wondering it that is the case of the zits on the skull and the extruder not being calibrated caused the holes in the outer layer.

I would not consider any of those relevant. movement is a GCode command and regardless of how it gets the command the printer then executes it. If it is not moving smoothly then perhaps you need the bearings lubricated or replaced. See if you can easily and manually move the head on the rails.

Each movement command is a single GCode command so it wouldn't start a move until it had gotten the command.

So choppy movement is more likely a hardware thing than a software thing.

that doesn't look to bad at all. Possibly a little hot still but the sample stuff is hard to get dialed in since it changes so drastically. It looks pretty good though. On the discussion of slicers, @mark tomlinson probably meant trying a whole new slicer, not a different engine in matter control. I'm not saying change if matter control will work for you....but I do suggest trying out Cura or the like (free) slicers. I use simplify 3d and am thrilled with my results, but many users dont want or need the added expense of the slicer. :D Just conversation while waiting on new photos :D

finally got around to printing that test in new white pla.

I think they both look pretty good. the blue version had some stings but were cleaned away since it was printed last week.

can anyone help me figure out what adjustments need to be made to get better bridging? I really wanted to print the digital sundial. but I seemed to have failed the test print for it.

I can't tell you what to print at as it varysdrastically between machines but yes cooler :)

Adding a 2nd fan will make pla prints prettier and should aid in bridging
