after i installed my e3dv6 and flashed the firm ware my printer would not run PID auto tune correctly.

i see when i run M303 E0 S210 C8 it will do a M105 but then disconnect from the printer.

I am stump to what is going on

I changed thermisters and still get the issue

When i do a test calibration print, the hot end's temperature will dramatically drop mid print and a cold extrustion prevented message would pop up.

I think it has to with the firm ware but i am not sure what to change.

    Thank you!

Id verify the heater and thermistor are secured and there are no wiring issues (good connections).

You can also turn off your part cooling fans to see if the fan is over powering the heater

i connected a different hot end adn a

i connected a different hotend and themister and still get the same issue.

I also reflashed and got the same issue.

do you think it might be the board?

Have you tried a print with the parts fan off ?

The temperature drop could simply be the heater core. Is the fan blowing on it?
The E3D provided heater core is very small (25w) and even the Hexagon is only 30w,

If the fan is blowing on that it will not be able to maintain temperature. Or, the thermistor could be loose or cracked and in either case you will FAIL the PID Tune. If the printer can not keep the heat stable or get it to raise/lower temperature fast enough you will fail the PID tune.

I would start by making sure the thermistor is working correctly.
Then if still an issue I would replace the heater core with a 40w unit.

This is not a firmware issue and not likely a bad RAMPS or Arduino either (but that is a small possibility). Make sure you have ruled out everything else.

i reinstalled original firmware and original hotend and the pid test failed. so i believe it is the board... i just ordered a new board and a new heater block just in case.

i also wonder, what happens when you set your extruder amount to 2 in marlin but you only have one on your printer.

Not sure that it will matter if you are not slicing for two.

Are you using the E3D provided heater core?

yes i am. i notice when i run prints at 200 degrees my temp jumps up and down between 190 - 210 degrees until the printer disconnects from the computer.

Probably the air from the partsfan is hitting the heater block. The E3D comes with a silly 25w core.
Do yourself a favor and get some 40w cores.

    https://www.amazon.com/Signswise-Reprap-Ceramic-Cartridge-Printer/dp/B00YRH4TYK

They are cheap and you end up with some spares. With a 40w core the fan can blow on the heater core all it wants.

It can also be a loose thermistor or thermistor wire, but most of the time it is just the heater core falling down.

    (spares are good)

The 40 watt heater cores are amazing, you can't go wrong there. I haven't had temp fall errors since I changed over.
